Holly huffed a little bit and felt her shoulders sag as she saw the contents spill out on the ground. She'd shake her head venomously and turn to look up at Guru as he started to speak. Were it so simple? Then he continued to explain. How each of them were her, what she aspired to be or what she denied. How they were all a part of her. She'd bite her lip nervously and sigh.
"Different paths for different... Me's?"
The meicoomon blinked owlishly and followed where the other was looking. She felt her core stutter a bit as she saw the blackgatomon being followed by a version of herself. She'd wring her paws and look down, sort of burying her lower half of her face in the fluff. She'd flick her ears towards the other and turn slightly rubbing at her face with both paws.
"Well... she's my big sis... how could I not... I... I really look up to her."
She'd fidget a bit and sigh, she was exceptionally proud of her big sister for doing what they wanted to do and being able to make those hard choices. There was a few long moments and she'd glance back towards where they came from.
"She was the first person I told about getting into that work... and she didn't try to stop me but I think that's cause she... she probably knew I could handle it or maybe... thought it would help teach me something I don't know."
Holly rubbed at a cheek and watched the two of them run across that field, watched her get that mission license... showing that sistermon noir to her. Those spars and board games? Well she could remember them each pretty clearly almost clear as day!
"We do a lot together... She's... well she's one of the ones I wanna protect."

"I'm sure she wants to protect you as well, Holly."
Guru gave a nod, even a soft smile, as the two continued towards their destination. As they continued down this path, the landscape would become less colorful and more 'plain', like walking towards a flat, green pasture. They would soon come to another branch in the path, this one a bit deeper in Holly's heart. And one led to a branch where she might distinctly remember, peering through a lightly cracked door to see her father and mother talking, Mikemon clenching around a black envelope.
"But... how could she have gotten into this at all?"
"I don't know. I guess we overestimated what we could see as parents." He gave a sigh, tossing that scrap of paper onto the table, mulling over just what to do. "I think we need to do what we did with Syre. Show her a bit of what that world is like. I hate to keep asking Cassandra for favors, but..."
"... But doesn't she know what its like, with them?" Her mother's voice considered it: "Honestly, I don't like it. That she could do anything like this at all. I mean, she's Holly, dear."
"I know, but it might be better if she found that out for herself. Besides, she seems comfortable with that Shademon..."

"...I know she does."
The meicoomon sighed a bit and rubbed at her head; she knew that she did. Her sister had put holly ahead of herself back in that seadramon incident as much as it hurt to think about. She'd nervously look around as they continued down that path; this looked odd to her and she'd stop as they neared the 'destination'. She remembered that night, the night where she could peek through the door. She'd close her eyes and just sigh.
"They just sounded so distraught..."
Holly reached forward a bit, sort of honestly wanting to be a part of that conversation. Wanting to put forward her input. Her mother was there trying to protect her, so was her father. And they were trying to help her. She'd fidget nervously and look up at Guru after a few long moments.
"They say my name like they know me, know... what I was. What I... What I could do. But that's just... so confusing..."
She'd mumble a bit and look down at the ground, uncertain as to how to approach this specific memory. It wasn't hard for her to listen in on conversations her parents had, it wasn't ever like they were being super secretive. A firmer sigh escaped from her and she'd just shake her head.
"It was so weird learning that Syre had to work with Dr. Cross too..."
The meicoomon stared firmly at the ground before looking back up at the scene in front of her. She felt this weird lurch in her stomach and she'd just press her head against guru's side. She didn't like this either. They sounded so worried, so concerned about her. They were her parents and that just made sense but...

"Their words are full of love, Holly."
Guru's response was warm, a smile even visible under his mask. Yes, Holly heard her worried, distraught parents, and was even a bit annoyed hearing them talk about how they 'knew' her, but the weasel felt he hit the most important part. He'd give a warm nod towards Holly, and press right along. They had a bit to go... or did they? Somehow, it felt like they made their way to Luminas all the more quickly, and the moment they crossed through...
... The scene would turn much darker, the 'holy city of light' giving way to wooden floors, bar walls, and stools. In a mere instant, the assassin's base surrounded them, a perfect replica constructed from Holly's mind. There was no-one else here, not the cloaked MeiCrackmon nor a single soul. The planning tables, the cots, the back room - nothing set up, except for that punching bag in the back.
Despite that? Holly might feel herself centered here, her shadow flickering a bit underneath here.
Was this her 'home'?

"...Yeah..."
The meicoomon stood there quietly, sort of staring at her parents through that crack. She'd close her eyes after a few long moments and just sigh, unsure of how to really address this any further. She'd look up at guru, that warm nod sort of making her sigh again as she padded after him. She'd take one lasting look at her parents before following quickly, not wanting to get left behind.
Then it was luminas.
It was a dreary place to her, full of fear and sadness, full of confusion and uncertainty. The holy city was bright except for the undertone of darkness that she was a part of. Those wooden floors, bar walls and stools were met with a blank stare at first. Before it slowly eased into uncertainty and fear much like the filters on this place.
There was no one here, not the other her, not those that made their lives here. The planning tables, cots and the back room with that single punching bag. Seeing it made her tendrils flick a bit, she could feel that shadow flicker, she could feel herself center in on this place more than the others.
There was a level of comfort in this darkness and this hidden place. But it was nothing warm, it was nothing that she felt... proud about. She stared at that punching bag feeling a level of queasiness spread through her gut.
"...Tch..."
The meicoomon looked away from this place and screwed her eyes shut before shaking her head.
"I feel centered, I feel comfortable. I feel right here. But I don't want to be scary. I don't want to be like the other me..."
She'd sort of turn and hug at one of guru's legs not wanting to really address this place in any real fashion.
"When I first came her I felt curious, proud and confused... but I look at it now and I feel centered, feel comfortable... in a place I..."
She'd sort of mumble into the other's fur and huff in irritation; there was a certain level of wetness that guru would be able to feel. Was holly crying?
"I don't... I don't want this place... It... it... It made me... It made me scary..."

'It made her scary'.
From what Guru saw from the MeiCrackmon before, that was probably true - but was that all there was to it? Before the Reppamon could even speak, a light opened up behind them in the room, the familiar sound of someone falling against the makeshift mattresses at the front entrance.
"Eheh! Hi - oh? No-one's here..."
Remember, Holly. They are out to scout the Terminus project.
"Oh..." A slightly sad tone to her voice, the Meicoomon gave a sigh, and skipped off to the back. Everything was more or less in order, but she managed a 'tsk' behind her teeth. "Dark still hasn't put that thing away. Maybe I should just pick up-"
And how will he learn if we do that?
Both the Shademon and Holly prepared a chuckle, the cat taking a moment to stretch out. "Right, then I'm just gonna read up on Snowpoint before hitting the hay!" She gave a chuckle, taking her form as a MeiCrackmon, three of her clones following right along.
"... Is that supposed to be a scary you?"

Holly found herself staring quietly at her and Iris before Guru could even address her. She'd shrink back from the two as she remembered this planning session, this bout of reading that had left her with quite a nasty headache afterwards. Using less clones and having them take their time on things made it still more manageable but...
There was a semblance of comradery here, friendship in a sense. She got along with most of the people here and even seemed happy. But holly seeing that 'version' of herself seemed to be right fearful of what was right in front of her. Watching that meicrackmon go along with those clones to go do that reading. At the reppamon's question she'd sigh.
"That was me a couple weeks ago I think... That's... just... how I kind of am... but... how long before I get to be scary like the other me?"
She was nervous about that question in itself honestly. She really didn't want to be the cold, vacant and calculating self. It didn't seem right to her and she'd just sigh after a few long moments.
"Don't get me wrong they're nice and Iris always helps me adjust but..."
She'd trail off, uncertain of what to really say next. She was frustrated to say the least and seeing this version of herself so soon after seeing that cold version of herself seemed incredibly weird!

'But just how long would it take to become that other me'?
Holly's question was held in the air, Guru taking a brief look around this base. He pressed his foot down against the floor, before looking towards the benches, the hammocks. It took several long moments, but the Reppamon would finally speak.
"You want to hate this place, but you don't."
Guru's voice sounded definite, the masked Digimon looking back towards the Meicoomon. "You're terrified of what you would become. You hole up this place in the deepest reaches of your heart, trying to keep it far away - but its always closer than you think. And though you want to convince yourself that this is wrong, that everything your doing is against the grain..."
The Reppamon sighed. "You can't help but think of the good. There's not a single shadow here, Holly."

Holly would nervously fidget as Guru addressed what he saw here. How she didn't hate this place, and he was right. It was the frustrating truth and she'd bitterly bite her lower lip; feeling her ears fold down slowly to lay flat back against her head.
She wanted to say something and just wanted to address this but she wasn't sure what she could say about it. He was right, she was terrified, she wanted to hole up this place. But... she firmly bit her lip, so much so she could feel a little bit of data leak into her mouth.
"...You're... right.. but..."
She'd look around and take a seat, her tendrils curling up around herself in an effort to sort of calm her nerves but it wasn't really helping. She didn't really know what she could say. She'd rub at her face and exhale slowly.
"All I can remember about this place is the good stuff... but... but... I just... I don't know Guru."
She'd shake her head again and just rub at her temples, her tendrils and tail sort of awkwardly shifting about. She'd look up at him, uncertain and afraid.
"But if... it's all good...Why can't I remember the stuff I do for them...?"

Why couldn't she remember?
"Its because you don't want to."
Guru's answer was simple. With a nod, he'd motion for her to follow, back into the room with the hammocks, and nod underneath the cots. There, Holly would see it: four black boxes, each giving their own sick, radiating aura, locked away with chain after chain. Multiple wrought iron locks kept those thoughts buried deep inside.
"Some of the restraints are yours. Some, are likely from the Shademon." Guru's words were again confident, letting Holly view them as she wanted. "Those thoughts, those memories. Those are the ones that belong to the cloaked you - the faint thoughts that she remembers and endures."
The weasel gave a pause, before striding up, stepping in front of the boxes, turning to face the Meicoomon.
"You might not wish to see."

Holly blinked slowly as he gave her a simple answer for her very much so simple question. She'd look down at the floor for a moment and then follow after him as he motioned for her to follow. She was still plenty nervous but once they were in that room with the hammock she'd ease up just a little bit.
Her eeyes slid around the room and then locked onto those four black boxes. She'd put a paw to her head and rub at it for a few moments. There was this odd feeling that she got from looking at them. Not quite fear but not quite curiosity either, there was this undertone and general dislike of those boxes that she felt so venomously after a few long moments that she couldn't rightfully place.
She'd listen quietly, some of those restraints were hers. Some where Iris' and those memories and thoughts were those that belonged to the cloaked version of herself. She'd bite at her lip again seeming nervous as he stepped forward and turned to her.
"I..."
She'd exhale slowly and shake her head, turning away from those boxes. They didn't feel right, even in all the 'happy' in this place those four boxes made her feel just so wrong. If she had to hide these memories away and lock them like this...
"...I don't want to look... C-can we leave Mr. Guru... Please...?"

"Yes. We can leave."
At this juncture, Guru's words might have been something of a surprise to Holly. As the Reppamon stepped closer to the Meicoomon, he would explain: "Forgive me. This part of the venture was not just for your benefit, but for Cassandra's. She knew that you must have been harboring these thoughts somewhere deep - and it was my job to make sure that they were tight and secure. They can't bother you, not like this."
With that, he'd step by the Meicoomon, briefly pressing a paw onto her shoulder - the two once more appearing at the crossroads. There, now in the midst of silence, they would ear something else - not to the right, nor to the left, but behind the bench itself.
The sound of someone crying - and another struggling. Before, when Holly's mind was set on this cloaked figure, this thought was entirely masked - but what was it?

Holly let out a sigh of relief as he said that they could leave. She turned slightly adn then blinked a bit as he stepped closer to her. Following up with an explanation that this venture was also for Cassandra's benefit. She'd stand there for a few long moments, allowing this explanation. She'd rub at her face for a few moments and just nod.
"It makes sense that She'd want to know about this... I kind of... had a feeling she was the reason for this more than Mr. General Denyru was."
The meicoomon looked up at the reppamon as he pressed that paw on her shoulder making her sigh. They would appear in that crossroads again, in silence for all of but a few long moments. Her ears flicked forward after she heard something that sounded... like crying?
The meicoomon blinked a few times at the crying, the struggling. This... was odd. Why was this thought masked of all things? Her curiosity played into this particular memories hands and made the meicoomon pad forward. Hopping up on the bench to get a good look at whatever was behind the bench.
"Who... what... is this?"
She'd mumble softly peering over the edge of the bench, uncertainty marring her face. This wasn't like the cloaked figure, it was louder, deeper and it felt weird even before she saw it...

What was worse than becoming something you feared in the future?
Something you feared in the past.
As Holly would move onto that branch, she would see the scene almost immediately: a large lake, one similar to the one in the Network Plains. The water itself was distended, as if a storm was rolling over even though it was the middle of a sunny day. And she'd see herself, stammering and scared at the side of the lake, that Holly unsure of what she could even do. Drenched in water, recently dragged out of the lake, she could only look on in horror.
In horror, to see Syre struggling in the middle of the water, a dark shadow circling underneath. The head of that Seadramon hissed as it emerged above the water, its tail striking to tightly coil around the cat's legs, before it would pull Holly's sister under. Despite the tragedy, despite the danger?
All Holly could do was sit on the side. Teeth chattering. Arms wrapped around herself, as if to stay warm. She was terrified, she didn't want to lose her sister.
And yet. She did nothing.

Holly found herself looking at a very familiar scene. One that had played out in her head hundreds if not thousands of times. That large lake that was similar to the one in the network plains grabbed her attention so quickly, she felt her breath quicken and her pupils narrowed into slits.
She saw herself, stammering and scared at the side of the lake. Unsure of what to do, having dragged herself out of the water and could only just sit there in horror. Her sister having to deal with the seadramon that hissed and dragged her under. Despite that danger, despite that tragedy that holly did nothing.
All they did was sit on the side, teeth chattering, arms wrapped around herself to stay warm. Terrified, not wanting to lose her sister but unlike holly before all she did was nothing.
But she hadn't done nothing before.
She felt a small spark of anger, that slowly built up over the seconds to a bonfire then what could of been an inferno had she not yanked herself back. Growling deep under her breath she'd hop off of that branch. But before she even touched the ground she was that meicrackmon again. But her fur was deep black much like her mothers rather than the one that had actually saved her sister. She would step up to the 'her' staring down at this chattering mess that she could of been. Her eyes were still slits and before too long she found her hands balling into fists.
Then she punched herself in the face, stopping that chattering and making her roll several times. Gritting her teeth she'd snarl and point out at where she could feel that hooded cat watching from.
"I CAN'T BE YOU. AND I WON'T BE HER. BUT DAMNIT. I'LL TRY TO BE JUST ME."
She'd snarl out in anger and without much hesitation she'd dive into the water intent on saving her sister and putting this infuriating teeth chattering version of herself to rest.
It would only be a few minutes before she resurfaced, holding the absolutely soaking syre under one arm and she herself was the same. Huffing in irritation she'd walk up to the crest of the water and carefully toss 'syre' at the other version of herself with a somewhat displeased look.
"And even with all that I still have no idea who I am."
