Tying loose ends [Katherine/Alan]

Although the smaller of the two original cloaked figures didn’t seem to be gaining some significant distance from Levi, it would prove to be very hard to catch up with. Its pace was quick and it moved swiftly through the roofs. The chasing kept going until the digimon reached one of the highest roofs of the village that seemingly belonged to an abandoned building. Immediately, the creature scooted inside one of the three air shafts the layout had to offer. It was likely a combination of what both Levi and Alan (and Katherine) did individually would take them to solve this issue. Where would this take the little creature that the Flamedramon had decided to give chase? Only one way to find out!
While Alan explained carefully all of his crossings so far, Katherine just listened closely while she nodded with every step of the explanation. Then, her eyes widened upon him mentioning a certain group she knew all too well.
“You work for…?” Her lips moved slowly. So this human worked for the group whose fortress she and the council had visited not long ago. That… explained a lot, actually.
“So Tayichi’Tai was definitely making some type of business with Bastian.” Of course! She had actually found his address in their fortress! They were the reason why she and Jazz had any lead on the robot, to begin with! The odd part of all of this story was…
“You had to deliver a package that was… alive?” Now it was Katherine the one tilting her head. Alan went on about how he had partially kicked the impostors’ butts, which was honestly a good thing. Of course, the end of the story brought a reference that Katherine definitely could not catch. “Like… what?” She blinked twice. She did not know much about videogames, really.
The girl decided to actually pay attention to the blonde’s gratitude. “Don’t mention it.” She showed a faint smile to him. Slowly, her eyes drifted back at the lockpick she was holding. Some words were etched at its side; Katherine read those muttering.
“Manufactured at Konboro.”
Immediately, the curly haired girl took her digivice out of her pocket.
“Jazz, are you there?”
“Yes. We’re trying to put everything together after the mess we caused. At least to the best of our extent. What’s wrong?”
“Ask Bastian if he knows about some Kongoro place.”
Silence was the only thing that came through the other end of the line for at least ten seconds. Then, finally, an answer.
“He says it’s some factory at the western side of the city, near its outsides. If you walk that way you should find a big red sign with the words “Kongoro”. He says he doesn’t know anyone who works there, though.”
Finally… a hint?
“Thank you. Keep an eye on Bastian and the fakers.” Now, Katherine’s gaze went back to Alan. “Should we go there? If so, please lead the way.” After all, Alan had at least followed a clear address here, so it was likely he knew the place a bit better, hopefully.
Time to get moving, no doubt.

Levi kept the fleeing figure in sight as he chased after, but stopped on the roof where they went inside a ventilation shaft. Though it was important that he follow them and hopefully get info out of them, regardless of the accuracy of depictions of ventilation systems in movies and games, one thing was for certain: the space inside them is very narrow. If the person the Flamedramon was following really was a decoy, allowing himself to be led into a position where he could hardly move was a bad idea. Instead, he opted for a nearby skylight. It was locked, and he considered senseless property damage beneath him. Sensible, methodical property damage, however, was not. He bent down and heated up one of the metal claws on his gauntlet, and carefully cut and removed a section large enough for him to slip through from the skylight. Vents tended to extend through entire buildings, so admittedly, it would be far easier to lose him this place, which appeared to be some sort of abandoned apartment building. He would immediately begin to search the hallway, remaining silent and listening closely for any sounds from his mark.
Meanwhile, when prompted to take the lead, Alan would simply admit, "This is my first time visiting the Dark Area. It was the package who was leading the way. But they said Kongoro was near the western outskirts, right? That narrows it down a decent bit, especially if there's a sign once we get there. So at least we have enough information to get moving!" After that short explanation, Alan began to lead a way based on his own approximations and sense of direction.

As soon as he landed on that floor, Levi would notice this was some type of abandoned, residential building. The distribution of the doors to the sides showed that even if at a remote time, there were people living in here at some point. However, those days were gone, and just abandonment remained.
That and… the sound of something moving through the air ducts! Even if the Flamedramon could see the metallic tunnels over his head, the echo of an empty building made it harder to tell what part were those sound coming from. It could be anywhere in the building! The thing just kept moving, as if it was aiming for a place in specific, but its movement was being hampered by the narrowness of the shafts.
If that was the case… Levi should probably move quickly and wait for the beast right at the room or area where it was going to come out. Where was that, though?
Stuck to one of the walls, a plaque showing the floors and what could be found in each of them was shown. If the fire warrior approached it, he would discover two things: One, this was not just any residential building, it used to be a hotel. And, two, he was currently at the highest point of the structure: the seventh floor. Which location inside this building should he look for in this chart? Where was that thing going to appear?
Due to being in the Dark Area, Fragment Village was… well, dark. However, Katherine and Alan would be able to tell the afternoon was starting to fall on them. While they walked through the murky streets of the town, Katherine kept chatting with her newfound partner in this mission.
“I see. I had been into the Dark Area before but never into Fragment Village.” Katherine noted, looking around. After some seconds of silence, the green-eyed couldn’t help but throwing the next question his way, even if hesitatingly. “I… w-was in Tayichi’Tai’s fortress. And… Um… You don’t seem like something who would work for them. Why did you come here?” She immediately bit her lip, knowing she was being a bit intrusive. “I-If you don’t mind telling me, of course.”
When they got to the end of the road that marked the village, they would see the sign some meters away from them. “Kongoro.” The teenager muttered. Once they got there, they would see a two-story building surrounded by a wall. By the entrance, a fenced gate half-opened. They could just go through there or… they could ring the doorbell adhered to the wall. She let Alan take the decision.

Levi dug into his mind, clawing at his limited knowledge of civil engineering. Where might that shaft lead? It was a very large building; there wouldn't be much sense in guessing at random. If there was any type of place where all the vents led, it would probably be at the lowest point of the building, be it the first floor or a basement. He would most likely find some kind of boiler room there, and even if his terminology wasn't correct, he might see the correct label once he got down there, he figured.
Plus, whether the goal of the fleeing figure was to lead him to a specific place, to lead him as far away from the real culprit as possible, or to, as the actual culprit, get as far away from him as possible, proceeding from the roof to the lowest floor seemed pretty probable. I wonder if they think I'm following them through the vents? Hmm... either way, I gotta get down there, and fast. The flame warrior would locate the nearest stairwell and run down, slide down, jump down if it was an open enough stairwell. Of course, what he would find down there is yet to be determined...
Alan wasn't bothered by his new acquaintance's question at all. In fact, he found himself almost delighted to answer:
"Some shady guy was offering 'free tours' of part of the Dark Area. And - obviously he wasn't using the right words when he said that - I pressed him for more info, found out he was just looking for someone to deliver a package for his organization or something. As little as I wanted to be a potential accessory to a crime, Levi and I have also been curious for a while about the Dark Area. We've got a mutual friend - that'd be 'boyfriend' to Levi - who's from here. Not to mention, we want to explore as much of the Digital World as we can. We wanna see all the culture and sights. So, taking the fact that this was a delivery job as a sign that they were rooting for us to come back alive, we agreed. I only know the name 'Tayichi'Tai' because the living package was talking about them. But the intended recipient seems pretty nice... so I gotta ask: are they, like, evil? 'Cause I get the sense that they're more on 'chaotic neutral' side."
Upon reaching the factory, Alan considered whether they should walk in or take the more up-front approach. It didn't take long to make his decision. He rang the doorbell and turned to Katherine. "If nobody answers soon, we'll just go inside. If they turn us away... we'll just go inside."

Before actually getting to the factory, Katherine and Alan would be able to chat for a while more. The green-eyed put her hand in front of her lips to stiff a quiet laugh. “That sounds like something I would do.” Going into some free tour just to discover a new place even if it sounded like the shadiest thing ever? That had Katherine and Jazz written all over it. Alan did mention something important. It was his curiosity what brought him here. Undying Curiosity? Maybe some form of it. This was definitely not the time for Katherine to explain the ancient art and significance behind that concept, but if he was one of those few who held Undying Curiosity, then they would become great friends eventually. “B-Boyfriend…” That was interesting! A digimon who had an actual couple. She had not met one of those yet. She could only wonder if it worked the same way for human than for digimon. Not that she knew much about human romantic relationships either. After taking a moment to think if she should actually voice her opinion, Katherine finally did. “I think it’s hard to tell someone is good or ‘evil’ in this world. While Tayichi’ Tai were enemies of the group I belong to, I don’t know if they’re necessarily evil. I can definitely tell Bastian is a great digimon. I had been looking for him for a while you know? I’ve heard lots of him, and he holds the secret for me to achieve my biggest dream.” Probably it was not the time or the place to talk about the Zoid Gems and the potential War that was going to take place once she went to look for those in Terminus. But… right now? She felt the time might come as this was not the last time she would meet… Oh god. They had not actually introduced, had them? “Oh. I’m Jasso Katherine, by the way. First name is Katherine.” She issued a slight bow with her head, while they kept walking. Not long after that, they reached the factory.
Thanks to the building’s overall structure, Levi would be able to leap down the roof shaft at the center of the stairs, reaching the bottom rather quickly. A boiler room, located at the lowest part, was exactly what he would find. A kick would be enough to bust it open and enter the chamber, where the sounds of a creature moving through the vents were louder. In fact, the dragon’s theory was proved in the following seconds, when one of the grills busted open and the digimon he was giving chase to fell inside, rolling through the floor. As he did, the cloak previously covering his body fell off, revealing a Labramon. Immediately, the dog acquired a fighting stance, growling at the Flamedramon. In a second, he had split into three more Labramon, and all of them were going for Levi from different angles! Was he going to fall for that trap again? “Bastian, your prices are… extremely low. I can now see why the line outside was that long.” Jazz noted, looking at the price chart. “You probably are not getting any incomes from this restaurant.”“That is partly why I build and sell weapons, Misu, to inject more money into the business.” Bastian responded. “There are many hungry digimon in this town. If they don’t have any money to pay, even with those low prices, I let them eat for free.”“Paul did not lie. You really care about the Dark Area.” A smile formed in Jazz’s lips. Then, she noticed the Red Vegimon was actually waking up! “You better start talking right now, you stinky pile of vines!” Jazz seemed to be taking the questioning very seriously. Was she especially angry because they were impersonating her and Katherine? “Where did they take the package? Was your friend going to Konboro?”“Bwahaha… you idiot! Labramon probably gave the package to our leader already. Now he’s just distracting your friend!”“How many digimon are working on Kongoro!?” “It’s only us five and the leader. He probably picked up the package and went back to the factory. And if he finds someone in there… bwahaha… he won’t be happy.”“Let’s go, Bastian!”“W-Wait! Did you say you know Paul, Misu!?”“No time to explain, Jasso and that kid might be in trouble!”
The hog immediately spoke into her line. “Jasso! Jasso! Can you hear me!?” Nothing came from the other side. “Ugh, there must be some device blocking communications.” “Listen, you stupid plant! You better tell me if you have a way of communicating with your friends, or I will CRUSH you right now!”
Once Levi had taken care of the tricky dog, he would definitely notice it held no package anymore. However, it did have a silver D-terminal with two speakers attached to each side among his robe. Was… someone speaking through the other side? “W-What is his name again? Oh, right. Hey! Levi, can you hear me? I don’t know if you caught the Labramon… ugh, I really hope you have! Listen, I think our tamers are in trouble. It was a setup. Go to the western side of town and look for a big sign that reads ‘Kongoro.’ Me and Bastian are going there right now too! Damn it… I just hope you can hear this!”Sadly, even if Levi spoke, Jazz did not seem capable of hearing him. It made sense after all, why would they make this a two-way line if Labramon couldn’t speak? If the Flamedramon tried to reach Alan, he wouldn’t be able too, either. Communications seemed to be jammed around the factory.

Nobody was answering. It was time for the tamers to take matters into their own hands. Alan was caught by surprise when Katherine introduced herself. He had never been good at remembering introductions, regardless of situation, so the boy returned the favor: "In that case, I suppose I'm Pantell Alan. But just Alan sounds much better," he quipped, returning the slight bow. Not a moment later, however, he would stop short. "Oh, before we get any closer, I'll turn on my Analog Jammer. You should, too, if you have one. I know we already rang the doorbell, but I'm fairly certain anybody who happens to be in here wouldn't react too well to our unique definition of the word "trespassing."" After doing as he said, the young man would proceed towards the factory, ever more aware of the fact that he was currently without powerful company. He refused to act on fear. He would stride forward, as he had decided to make a habit of doing.
"Hmph." scoffed Levi, looking down at his defeated foe. "Pushover." he leaned down, examining what the Labramon had on them, and nodding when his suspicions were confirmed. "A decoy, just as I thought. Not like I was in position to let a possible suspect go. Would have preferred to get information out of him first, at least. Huh?"
It was at that point that the strange D-Terminal relayed to him the message from those back at the restaurant.
"Got it!" he said, not caring whether he could be heard. Levi took the device with him as he raced to find the location he had been told about. "Kongoro," likely denoted by both a sign, and some people who knew where it was in the first place racing towards it. How flattering they fear me enough to distract me~

Although some –including Katherine herself- might think she might have taken too long before going through introductions, it was a good thing she now knew the name of someone who was so similar to her! Alan Pantell seemed to acquire unprecedented bravery when it came to finding out the truth or acquiring further information about anything he was interested on. For him, gathering information seemed like a good reason to put his life on the line, and that was something Katherine could definitely relate to. “Analog… jammer.” Ugh. There were so many gadgets her digivice was missing! She actually needed Bastian to install all of those, and that was part of the reason why she came looking for him! The teenager just remained quiet as she let Alan lead the way, entering the murky insides of the Kongoro Building. “Wasn’t this supposed to be a factory? Why is it so… quiet, in here?”
After walking for a while inside the very much abandoned structure, the pair would be able to tell there was definitely not a factory working in here. What was more, the dirt and abandonment in every hallway went to show there had not been people working in here for years. The place was not only creepy but very, very shady. “Maybe we can still find some clues in here, even if it’s quite obvious is not a factory anymore.” After exploring the whole lower floor, Katherine suggested they should go up the stairs. Was it far more dangerous to explore an abandoned place than a working factory without a human to protect them? Definitely. After entering a few rooms on the upper floor, the pair arrived at what seemed to be an office. “Maybe this is where the president of the factory worked before?” This was, however, the only place around the whole structure that did not seem to be left for good. Leftovers of food and half-full cans could be found lying around. “There are digimon living in here.” Her green eyes staring at one of the unfinished drinks, Katherine took a step back. “Jazz, is RedVegiemon up already?” Katherine spoke into her line. No response. For how long had she been unable to communicate with her partner? This could not mean good news. “Pan- I mean, Alan…” With a countenance that went to show clear discomfort, Katherine turned to face the blonde. “I think we should leave. I can’t communicate with Jazz and I definitely don’t want to be here when whoever inhabits this place comes back.” She noted. “We should regroup before…” Her voice started fading slowly as she noted something right under the doorway they had just entered to get inside this office. “What is... that?”“Alan!” The Bacomon ran towards the human as fast as he could. “Do you know him?” Katherine glanced down to the walking box and then back to her peer. “I-I’m sorry. He took the weapon parts.” The package immediately confessed, opening the top of his head and showing there was nothing inside anymore. "By the way, you can call me Venenomon now, I like that name better."“He…?” Who was he talking about? Katherine held her breath as soon as she glanced back at the doorway. Now, a skinny, tall digimon was standing in there. The faint illumination made it hard to actually detail all of his features, although his giant blades and terrifying stance were enough for Katherine to start shaking. “Are you the ones… causing trouble for my business?” With a deep, scary voice, the digimon asked. So... this was probably Venenomon.

Alan would scoop the package into his arms. "That's fine. I'm glad to see you're alright!"
Then, Venenomon made his grand appearance.
"You're the current namesake, then?" asked Alan. This was, he acknowledged, a dire, hopeless situation. All that meant to him was that he might as well have fun with it. People screw up when you mess with them.
"That depends, is your business being an asshole? Let me assure you, we've done nothing to stop that magic from happening. In fact, let me help!"
The feisty young man would now move to the center of the room, sitting on the desk (assuming there was one there) with his legs crossed, and speaking aloud, in a surprisingly apt impression of the immediate threat,
"Don't get me wrong, those parts were as good as ours from the start, and there ain't nothin you could have done to keep 'em from us. That doesn't mean we're about to let you punks run around trying to get your dirty mitts in the way of my livelihood. But don't worry your pretty little heads. I ain't gonna kill youse just yet. Right now, your buddies are comin' to save you all heroic-like. Believe you me, they're gonna get a nasty surprise if they're stupid enough to actually show up. They'll make a fine example for anyone else who tries to mess with us."
"How was that?"

“It's a Bacomon.” It didn’t take long for Katherine to make some connections in her head and realize this was the package that had been stolen from Alan and Levi. Actually! The teenager had already met one of these in the past, although this was definitely a different Bacomon.
After being picked up by Alan, the package did glance towards Katherine for a second. “My name is actually Venenomon. Although yes, Bacomon is the name of my species.”
“Venenemon.” That made no sense! Venenomon seemed like an accurate name for the digimon that had just entered the room. “M-My name is Katherine. It’s nice to meet you.”
What would ensue was pretty much a recurring event by now. While the box explained how he liked the name 'Katherine' better and how that would be his name from now on, the teenager got distracted by Alan’s mockery, actually defying the enemy. Had he lost his mind? No. The green-eyed, who was almost paralyzed by the sight of the digimon at first, started studying the blonde’s attitude from a different perspective.
“He’s actually doing… the only thing he can do at a moment like this.” Trying some very simple method of distraction and gaining time. That was goddam better than remaining immobile, right? Katherine better stepped up her game if she wanted to be of any help! What Alan was saying held actually some type of message. One that she could decipher. Even if it could not be taken as a fact, it was likely help was on its way.
Time to gain some time, then. Time to prove she was reliable too. Time to show the world she was a new Katherine!
The teenager took some steps forward, while Alan continued distracting the enemy with his impression. She leaned next to the desk, while the blonde went on and on.
"They have... Completely lost their mind." The Bacomon muttered, looking at the scene unfold in disbelief. How were a couple of humans challenging a Mafia boss like this?
Once the boy had finished his speech, Katherine chuckled playfully. "It was perfect, Alan." With a confident, firm voice, Katherine spoke. "You missed the part where a couple of humans got inside your factory after actually defeating all of your goons." She went on with a smirk, while frolicking with her hair. "If I had to guess, I would say that's the strongest point of his whole act, if making a fool of himself was the final goal, at least." Well, it was clear she was not the best at trash-talking, but she was trying, okay!?
While the duo didn't stop speaking, in order to gain as much time as they could, Venenomon decided he had enough. Winding his arm back, he took out a blade, engulfed in some purple substance. Well, this time was evidently going to come sooner or later.
"You humans are..." In a swift movement, he threw that blade, which traveled right towards Katherine at mighty speed. "... Stupider than I thought!"
The only thing the green-eyed teenager could do now was closing her eyes and hoping this worked.
And... It kind of did. Before the knife could make any contact with her, as soon as it reached a certain distance from her body, it was dispelled by a 'whip' of fire, coming out of the teenager. When Katherine opened her eyes, she saw the knife on the floor, and a gust of fire swirling around her. Jaenryu, the fire spirit living within her and Jazz, was here to protect her.
Taking a single step back, Venenomon watched the knife still spinning on the floor, astonished. If Jaenryu was here, it meant...
"There’s no one here…” At first, the voice coming through her digivice startled Katherine. To be fair, anything would startle her right now. As she realized who this was, she was able to quickly comprehend the situation a lot better. She was now able to hear her partner's voice again through her digivice. If she could listen to Jazz now and she hadn't moved an inch, it could only mean her partner had entered the zone where no one could communicate from the outside. That meant…
“WE’RE UP HERE, JAZZ!”
For the first time, Katherine had put on evidence the level of danger this whole situation represented for them. For just a second, she had dropped the confident visage she had maintained so far to distract and mock the killer. One that she had never showed before. Now it was time to call for help.
And… help arrived. Very quickly. In the form of a massive, gigantic gust of wind. It was so huge, so powerful, the floor below Venenomon had shattered in many pieces as a feral wind entered the room. It came from down below. The aggressiveness of the method the Cho-Hakkaimon had used to come to the rescue was not surprising at all, knowing Jazz. However, she had never imagined the pig-girl was so close!
As the floor below her crumbled, Katherine jumped on the desk Alan was previously sitting on. Meanwhile, every object in the office just fell down, including the two Katherines and Alan. The whole second floor collapsed. Once this chaos had settled down, the smoke around the room made a little difficult for them to see their surroundings, now on the first floor.
After a couple of coughs, the teenager thought about shouting at her partner. It was the second time she entered a room like this in a couple of hours! However, the sheer happiness of having Jazz here to save her appeased this early desire.
“Jazz…” She muttered, her eyes glimmering. In front of both her and Alan, the pig-girl stood, holding her Roketto-Dingpa in her right hand. Coming out of the debris, Venenomon stood up too. “I might need some help with this one.” Their rescuer admitted. Among the mess Jazz had caused, Bastian emerged too.
"We got here on time, Misu, Shinshi."
“You have… destroyed my headquarters…” His voice sounding angered, Venenomon took out its blades. “… you harmed my soldiers and mocked me in my face.”
As the leader of Kongoro took a fighting stance, it became evident this adventure was coming to its end, for better or worse.
“I’m going to have fun slicing you in many little pieces.”
Hopefully, Levi wouldn’t miss the party!
Abilities: -[Ram Upgrade] [Passive ability] Jaenryu: When they are in close-range danger, the fire-dragon spirit living inside of Jazz will raise to protect herself or one of her allies from harm. A burst of fire surrounds the protected target (whether it is Jazz or an ally), burning and scorching anything in contact with them or surrounding them in a one-meter radius. The fire causes no harm to the protected target itself and the intensity of these flames is barely unbearable for a rookie and definitely painful for a Champion. Once Jaenryu has been activated on an ally, it can't be activated on a different ally during the same fight.
——This is the End!!!: Cho-Hakkaimon swings the Roketto Dingpa with full power, creating a whirlwind that's shot directly against the enemy. Although it probably won’t make any heavy Champion even lose balance, the fast-traveling wind will try to slice their body, causing several wounds on them. Normal damage on Champions and above. Double damage on Rookies and below. 1 post cooldown.

Levi used the stairs to ensure a passage back to the rooftop, and leapt across the buildings in the general direction of his destination, much like the decoy had done. As much as he trusted Alan, there wasn't much trust could do against digital bandits, at least not for a human.
Meanwhile, Alan would continue chattering as cheerfully as someone whose life wasn't in danger. "Now, now," he said to Katherine, "give them some credit. Their mission was pilfering the goods, not defeating us in combat. To that end, we're here because we lost a battle! So now we're here for a hoooooly fuckin' shit, dude, rude!" Alan's banter would be interrupted by a presumably poisoned blade whizzing past him. Of course, he was more impressed by Katherine's "defense mechanism" than the blade itself, but he wished to maintain an appearance of being more concerned with the course of the conversation than the rest of their situation.
Levi leapt from a tall building over the fence to the factory, dashing faster than he ever had in his life. "Guuuuuuys!" he whimpered, "Pleeeease don't lock me out of the boss rooooooooom! I-If I miss so much as phase one after all this, I'll... I'll cry!"
He honed in on a loud crash as he networked through the hallways in roughly the same path taken before him, thereby finding the hole Jazz had created.
"Yowch... these things aren't meant for sitting, let alone falling on..." complained Alan, standing up and quickly gaining some distance from Venenomon.
Levi would look down the hole, seeing an enemy, and being sure it was an enemy, because they talked a lot like an enemy would. He raised his arms and leapt down, silently, because screaming at an enemy during a surprise attack was a bad idea. Except... didn't this digimon look like a certain other digimon he had seen in action before? At the last moment, the Flamedramon would twirl himself to the side, settling for a kick as opposed to throwing himself directly onto the enemy, then rolled away into a standing position. The dragon would then give his human partner a quick hug and kiss on the top of the head before turning back around. The young man was left standing awkwardly, wondering not why Levi did that, but how he should react in front of other people so as not to seem too used to the gesture. Was it even a problem to be? "I-I'm glad you're here."
"You're an Ultimate, aren'tcha? Then let me slip into something more comfortable!" He'd nod back at Alan, who would realize that was his cue and hold up his digivice. Its screen would flash gold, and that light would encase Levi, whose form would grow, barely visible within the light, until a Magnamon emerged from the display. The knight-like digimon would then punch his palm with his other hand. "That's better! Now what were you saying about slicing and dicing?"

“Venenomon…” Bastian, who seemed to have just realized who this guy was, muttered out his name. Immediately, Katherine turned her face towards the robot. “Do you know him, Bastian?”“Yes.” He admitted while the combat gave them some much plot-necessary room to talk. “Some group I used to belong to once contacted him. We intended to recruit him but we ended up not taking him because he was just ruthless and aggressive, representing a danger for enemies and allies all the same.”"A group... ? ... you mean the Dark Army.” Katherine muttered without stopping to consider the dimensions of her words and what they implied. Never had a robot looked so shocked. “H-How do you…?” The chef took a step back. Not only they seemed to know Paul, but they also knew about the organization he had belonged to in the past. Who were these girls? “We know everything about you, Bastian.” A smirk on her face, Jazz declared. Katherine just followed this statement with a nod. “Former chef, member of the Dark Army and Paul the Veedramon’s best friend. After stealing their most valuable treasure, you came to the only place where you could hide: the Dark Area, which is also where you were born.” While she retailed the story, the teenager’s green eyes were affixed on the robot, who just stared in disbelief. During this, she also took her digivice out, readying Jazz for evolution. “Now you run a restaurant for absurdly low prices to somehow help the digimon in your birthplace, while I assume you buy weapons to be ready for when the Dark Army finds you or something like that?” The pig-girl, who was starting to glow and be surrounded by rings of fractal code, ended that sentence in some sort of interrogative tone. As Jazz started to change forms, Bastian just made the question he had been wanting to issue since they entered their restaurant. “W-Who… are you?”“My name is Katherine Jasso, and she is Jazz, my digimon partner.” The green-eyed teenager started. “We belong to the Deeplane City Council, the group that will change the Dark Area forever.” Slowly building up confidence, a smile started to appear in Katherine’s face. “While Jazz and I are also the ones…”The momentum being built up matched perfectly with Venenmon launching another of his blades towards Katherine. The knife was stopped mid-air by a white, giant wing. Hippogriffomon was now standing in front of the group. “... who are going to defeat the Dark Army!” The digimon and her tamer stated in unison, now facing Venenomon. “… But we’re going to need your help for that.” Katherine added sweetly, winking at the robot, who seemed to understand everything a lot better now, but did not seem by any means less shocked. Immediately, Venenomon jutted himself forward, going for Jazz. Just in time for Levi to get here, right!? The kick of the Fladramon sent the killer back, propelling the dragon towards his tamer. It was now Katherine’s time to be amazed. “Evolution…” She muttered. Her face got lightened up by the shining light of the transformation. Once it dissipated, the dragon had turned into a majestic warrior, covered in gold armor. She already knew this pair was amazing, but this perfect stage… was something she did not see coming. Katherine, the Bacomon? Well, they were just as impressed! The box-digimon had just taken a sit on the floor, staring at the development. Magnamon was not only beautiful and imposing, he represented power and justice. He looked like a true hero. Funnily enough, the sighting of this creature somehow made Katherine realize the value of her actions, and everything they had accomplished so far. It had given her the strength she needed to step forward, and fight. Well, time to do exactly that. Showing a display of skills that seemed to mimic the abilities of the rest of Kongoro, Venenomon cloned himself into six warriors, looking exactly the same. Three of them dashed forward at the same time, throwing blades covered in a purple, thick substance, while the other three dashed back and extended their arms as vines, trying to reach for the limbs of Levi and Jazz, looking to immobilize them. Apparently, all of his friends’ individual tricks seemed to come together in their boss’ fighting style.

Alan stared in Venenomon's direction, making sure he didn't try anything funny while Katherine, Jazz, and Bastian were busy having their... reunion? No, it sounded to be a union. A small frown snuck into his lips; it was becoming clear that Alan was a side character in whatever story he had stepped into. It was no matter. He found supporting roles to be surprisingly fitting for him. He had only wanted an adventure and to see what the Dark Area was like, and he had certainly gotten those things. Through this, the imminent danger slipped from his mind, and perhaps he was not as grateful for Levi's arrival as he should have been. Later, he would tell Levi this, and the dragon would jokingly demand he "pay off [his] debt in swoons." To his surprise, Alan would do this, and Levi would find it to his liking, resolving to ask for this treatment more often in the future. That is later.
Now:
Magnamon the shining warrior was staring into the assumed face of Venenomon when the foe split into six. Levi thought first of the advance of the poisoned blades, and swiftly moved his body out of their paths. Unfortunately, even as Levi was capable of digivolving to Perfect stage, in combat he was an amateur. The blades, a far more pressing threat, were adequate cover for the advancing vines, hitting one of their marks by wrapping themselves around Levi's limbs. He knew something for this. Struggling with all his might to turn his wrist in what appeared to be a helpless struggle, the Magnamon fired an immense beam of shimmering golden light from his hand, maneuvering it as it seared the ground below his six adversaries. After most of the light faded, these spots on the ground seemed to only be glowing with faint embers... but an instant later, the light would flare up from the ground again and catch anyone still standing on the markings in an explosion. Levi hoped this would be enough to buy him time to be rescued, if it didn't free him directly.
-Levi (Magnamon) dodges the blades, but is hit by Venenomon's vines, becoming immobilized.
-From his stationary position, Levi aims Line in the Sand at the feet of the six clones.
Line in the Sand - Magnamon quickly draws a glowing curved line in a wide arc on the ground in front of him using a large laser. Moments later, the line explodes, damaging anyone who was standing on top of it. 3-post cooldown.
Cooldowns: Line in the Sand - 3

Although it had prolonged for too long, the moment of talking was over and the battle had begun. The blade launching Venenomons had missed their targets, with Levi dodging the knives and Jazz just flapping her wings to blow them away. However, the Hippogriffomon was now surrounded by these three clones, all jumping towards her attempting to stab the beast. While the Magnamon had his own troubles with the vines.
Fortunately, Levi seemed to have a trick under his sleeve. Katherine covered her eyes as the shinning coming from the ground illuminated the whole Kongoro warehouse. “A-Amazing.” She muttered while the firing light scorched some of those clones to ashes. Their data seemed to reintegrate into just one Venenomon. He jumped straight towards the golden warrior, gathering purple energy around his arms and shooting it straight towards the immobilized enemy at gunpoint. That didn’t look good.
Jazz was in no position to help. Although her body was fairly larger, the Hippogriffomon had proven to be quite fast, dodging the attacks coming from the clones. Destroying the rest of the upper level and the roof, Jazz flew high, to then shoot a rain of shinning star-shaped beams of energy that annihilated the clones. “Stay with me, Bastian, Bacomon!” Katherine yelled, looking for a cover along the two digimon. She knew, worst-case scenario, Jaenryu would protect everyone around her from the falling debris. Bastian was helping too, smashing those falling pieces of concrete with its sturdy robot armor.
"My name is Katherine!" The package clarified. Of course.
Much like the one facing Levi, Venenomon had merged the data from the destroyed clones into one single copy. The question was remained: which one was the real one, the one facing Levi or the one facing Jazz? That was an answer to obtain later on, probably. Right now, surviving was a priority.
In whatever was left of the roof, the battle between Jazz and her copy of the enemy had begun. This one looked a lot more real than the clones from before, and its strength and speed definitely were comparable to the ones of a real digimon.
After shooting its energy beam, whether Magnamon had found a way of getting out of his prison or not, Venenomon would jump towards him, his blade out, and launch a mighty strike at the warrior, trying to slice it in two. The killer’s movements were fast and aggressive. If Levi tried to gain distance from the enemy, he would notice there was a field force avoiding him from doing so. Apparently, this digimon had some sort of passive made to keep the enemy at fighting range. Did Alan’s partner have any technique or ability to fight from this close? It now seemed like one-on-one combat was the terrain where Venenomon wanted to take this.

Magnamon winced in advance, seeing Venenomon about to shoot him at point blank range. He had a means of defending against it, but it wouldn't do him much good if he couldn't soon find a way to escape his binds, so he decided to prioritize that. Alan rifled through his deck of cards. The had quite a few- there should have been at least one thing he could do to help, but he knew Levi's moves, and in the end, decided it would be better to let the knightly dragon do what he would, even if it meant watching him get hurt.
There was only one way Levi knew to escape the vines without moving his limbs. He closed his fingers, not all the way into fists, leaving space in the middle, as if holding onto something. From thin air, each hand would conjure a glowing sword, one forged of fire condensed into metal, the other of lightning. The blades remained firmly with his hands, his last hope as he was shot painfully at close range, spilling a bit of his surface data. With a flick of his wrists, he turned both blades on the vines pulling at his arms, then quickly kneeled down to slice at those restraining his legs, then leaped sideways to dodge Venenomon's initial onslaught. Tempted as he was to gain some distance, thereby knocking against the enemy's force field, Levi thought it was best after what he considered an embarrassing display to use his swords to fight back at close-range, just like the enemy wanted. The important part was that Levi chose to do this. He couldn't let himself be intimidated, and this form came packaged with a sort of placebo reassurance of protection from evil foes, even if it had no real added defense against them in particular.
Alan watched with hope as the fight raged on, keeping those cards on hand. He loved watching his partner in action.
-Levi takes a direct hit from Venenomon's first attack.
-Levi summons his Virtuous Blades and uses them to cut himself free of the vines, and dodges the second attack.
Virtuous Blades - Magnamon summons two one-handed blades - one of fire, one of lightning. These blades last for two posts, but can be dismissed before then. 3-post cooldown.
Durations: Virtuous Blades - 1 post remaining.
Cooldowns: Line in the Sand - 2 posts remaining.

Due to the aggressiveness that had distinguished this combat, it was fairly easy to notice it was drawing to an end, regardless of whether the outcome was positive or not for the humans and their partners.
While Venenomon seemed quite happy to have stricken Levi with that beam, he was fairly surprised he was able to recover that quickly. The guts the warrior showed only made the evil assassin turn more vicious and his movements and stabs denoted just that. The Magnamon would have to step up his game to avoid his constant blows and his mighty speed! However, Levi's swords would be crucial for him to withstand the stampede of attacks the gangster was throwing at him.
“They’re… too quick.” Unable to properly see the movements of the digimon involved in this clash, Katherine just stared at the development of the action. Immediately, the sound of another mighty clash from high above made her turn her head upwards. On the quite disintegrated roof, Jazz had managed to stab her own copy of Venenomon with one of her claws. Although the effects of this fierce battle were evident on the Hiippogriffomon, the sight of the monster disintegrating was good news.
Just like Jazz, Levi had probably won the endurance battle and, after taking some other damaging hits, he would be able to land an unerring strike at his enemy with his swords, slicing it in two and making his data shatter into millions of bits. And, just like Jazz’s defeated Venenomon, the pieces of data traveled back to the center of the warehouse. Both streams of data merged into a final creature that grew at least ten times its original size. When it finished growing, it was around three times the size of Jazz and definitely a whole lot bigger than Katherine and Alan!
It was obvious this was the final scheme the Venenomon had prepared for them. “I won’t…” A guttural, absolutely creepy voice started echoing around the semi-destroyed building. “… I won’t let you…” Far from being a terrifying criminal, Venenmon was turning into a huge monster. A creature that seemed to be aiming for an amount of power he couldn’t control. “… Ruin my enterprise!” After issuing these words, beams of purple energy coming out of the monster started striking around the battle stage. They were huge blasts of power that needed to be avoided. A single hit of those could cause massive damage.
“This thing needs to be stopped.” Bastian muttered, staring at the assassin, while Katherine (The Bacomon) hid behind the robot.
Jazz was more than aware of this. It was the moment to stop this thing before it became stronger. Before it became impossible to control. The Hippogriffomon flew down and landed next to Levi. “You can’t dodge and attack at the same time.” The winged beast moved her neck, making a sign that suggested the Magnamon getting on her back. “So I can dodge for you. I'll get you close to him, but you need to have something good prepared!”
The offer was damn serious. In this team, Jazz would do the conveying and Levi would deliver the final strike to end this for good. Was the golden warrior ready? If he was, the Hippogriffomon would fly around the stage, dodging the beams of light traveling their way, while she got closer to the monster with each movement.
It was then when Katherine’s green eyes shifted towards the blonde human not far from her. “Time to end this, Alan.” Then, she showed him a firm nod.
Once Jazz and the golden warrior were at point-blank range, it would be the time for Levi to end this once and for all.
Time to tie the last loose end and finish this thing!
