The Trail of Premonition v.2 [Yomi/Kathy]

Yomi spent a day asleep.
Though the treatment and care given to her by Bella and other people in the camp certainly helped, the shock took a lot out of the girl. Or, perhaps, it was all the exhaustion brought up by more than a week of struggle, sleepless nights, and strife, piling up until eventually the girl collapsed from tiredness. It only needed one push, one that came in the form of having her hopes and dreams smashed in favor of... something else. Perhaps, a part of her did not want to wake up.
The dreams she saw were vivid, and most of them were about home. Repetitive in nature, just like her days. Going to school, spending time with friends, laughing or getting mad about Kaya's antics, or praising Chiko for being a good and diligent little student that she was... or marveling at where did Takeko-san got her hands cut again. The common myth was that she got into fights a lot, and nobody knew the true reasons, as ridiculous as they were.
But, from time to time, the dreamscape was being interrupted. The lush greenery of the Miyashita park becoming a desolate, barren wasteland. People and places dissolving into nothing. The solitude was heavy, crushing almost. Even asleep, Yomi would shiver, feeling terror creeping up her spine and sitting at the bottom of her throat like a knot. Making it harder and harder to breathe. She saw a serpentine trail, which sometimes became a real serpent, leading deeper and deeper into a place the girl had never seen before yet could recollect with an astounding amount of precision.
The snake had led her to a gaping maw of a cave, which was so dark inside one could not see anything. And from within, a loud, commanding voice echoed, as if ordering her in one strong, singular word.
COME!
It was getting louder and louder, until Yomi felt it bury into her mind, ringing in her ears. The slumber was, finally interrupted, with the girl jolting upwards, sitting in the cot with a loud, almost violent gasp.
"GAH! I WILL I WILL!" - the girl exclaimed, narrowing her eyes and blinking often, as the brisk awakening was soon followed by dizziness and sleepiness. Was she home? Was it all a bad dream? A dream where she got sucked into a phone and dumped into a dark and hostile land? But as her vision cleared out, she could see that she was not in her room. It was a dark, murky tent in a dark, murky land. As the girl's mind finally settled in, she found her broken glasses, placing them unto her nose again. A small, sad sigh escaping her chest.
"It's not a dream, is it... it never is..."
Unaware of a person sitting right to her side.

Chapter IV: The War of Terminus Episode 5: The Trail of Premonition
It couldn’t be said resting was quite what Katherine had done during the whole day Yomi was sleeping. It was now dawning at the Deeplane City Council’s settlement and a little more than 24 hours had gone by since Nei had seen Yomi and had shown Katherine and Jazz that… unsetting dream. Multiple events took place during that whole day that passed. Souji, for instance, waved his goodbyes at the group. Not only to Katherine, but the whole Council. He was very cryptic and not specific at all but, apparently, he had to go and fix some things about himself. Of course, Bella had parted off along him, which meant Katherine and Jazz were in charge of taking care of Nobuhiko Yomi full time now. The duo had alternated their roles since yesterday morning when Souji left. Once they had taken her to their own tent they decided to split their responsibilities. While one of them stayed at the girl’s side for a while, the other one would keep working along Bastian, who had also returned yesterday, by the way. When it was time to sleep, Jazz would sleep sitting on the ground, leaning against the tent's "wall", as usual, while Katherine would just tent her sleeping back on the ground, right next to Yomi’s bed. The only one that there was inside the tent. That morning, Katherine woke up fairly early. According to her D-Terminal, it wasn't even 6 am when she opened her eyes. After brushing her teeth and still in her pink pajamas, she decided to take a seat right next to her still very much asleep friend, while she sipped on some of the coffee Amelie had gotten for her last week. Boy, that opening portals thing was really useful for having certain commodities inside the settlement. This ephemeral tranquility would be… well, very ephemeral. Yomi had woken up, and looking very upset, at first. The green-eyed flinched a little at her friend’s sudden incorporation. It seemed as if she was having a bad dream. Another one. However, she seemed to be declaring it wasn’t. That probably referred to the fact of her being trapped inside of this world. “You’re awake.” Katherine gave a smile that had a very easy to spot sadness behind. “… How are you feeling?” She asked.

Yomi turned her head, briefly looking at Katherine with a blank stare, before the blurry images in front of her eyes finally took a more familiar form. Her brain turning on and telling her where she was, and who was in front of her. The girl smiled briefly, but that smile soon faded away as she realized where she was. Looking left, and right. Seeing nothing but tent walls, and the open flap leading outside revealed the same gray clouds tinted by crimson lightning.
I'm... I'm not home...
"Ugh..."
Then, the girl felt it. A feeling that made her want to fall back down and wrap her arms around herself. The body... it ached. As if she had been through a rough workout that ended up her being beaten up by half a dozen jocks. The dull ache echoed in her bones, the muscles refused to obey commands and made her body feel like being made of plush and lead at the same time.
"I... I don't feel too well... it hurts... everywhere..."
Yomi fell back on her back, just staring into the roof of the tent, as the reality settled it. She was still here. With Kathy. But... still here. In this place. Her glasses started to look foggy, as the girl felt something warm roll from the corner of her eyes and down her cheeks. This was so ... wrong. She did not want to be here. She could see home. Through that portal, but then...
"Why am I still here..." - Yomi mumbled, turning her head and looking at Katherine with her red, puffy eyes. "Why am I still here?! I should not be here! I was going home! W-wwhhhy?" - her voice trembled as she turned on her side, pressing her face into the pillow.
Feeling like a puppy who had a toy dangled in front, only to be pulled back at the last moment. Only worse. Home, safety, normalsy... It was so close, yet so far away. Yomi was still, quietly sobbing into the pillow.

Ouch.
Since she arrived at the Digital World, Katherine had collapsed from heat in the middle of the desert, she had almost drowned to death in the ocean and had thrown her body into the ground to protect herself from many types of digimon techniques.
But seeing Yomi cry? This hurt. It hurt like hell.
Could she really do something to stop it? Probably not. The only thing that would make Yomi genuinely happy now would be to go back home and Katherine knew this very well. However, you could bet your life she was going to do her best to at least ease her pain, both emotionally and physically.
“I’m sorry.” She muttered, lowering her gaze. The green-eyed felt her throat hurt a bit. Just seeing Yomi cried made her want to do the same. But she couldn’t. Yomi was the proof she was someone different now. “Your digivice…” She let out a sigh. “It doesn’t want you to go back home. It wants you to do something.” She answered, a sad tone on her voice.
“And I think we need to do that thing he wants you to do before we can try getting you home again.”
In the meantime, she was going to give Yomi all the commodities she could find for her. “Do you… like coffee?” She asked, pointing towards a white cup resting over a box next to the girl’s bed. There was even steam coming out of the brown liquid inside of it. “I had the feeling you would wake up soon, so I made you some.” A pause ensued. “I-If you don’t like it that’s fine too, I can drink it myself.”
“About the pain… your digivice zapped you when you tried to enter the portal. I’ve got analgesics in my backpack but…” Katherine stood up, walking towards an electric kitchen over another box, around the opposite side of the tent. The kitchen seemed turned on and had a cooking pot on top of it. “… first, you need to eat something, okay? I can’t give you pills after you went over 24 hours without eating. I’m preparing something right now for us to have breakfast, so just wait for a bit.”
From right next to the kitchen, in what was her small ‘cooking area’ inside the tent, she took a jar of water, pouring some into a plastic cup and walking back to Yomi. “Drink some water, please.”
Saying that worriedness was all over Katherine’s expression was an understatement. She had been extremely worried about her friend for a while. And, in all honesty, just thinking how Yomi might be feeling right now, was crushing her from the inside.

Yomi could not remember the last time she cried as hard.
Perhaps in childhood, after falling off a bike and scraping a knee real bad. But otherwise, her life had been remarcably placid, devoid of any real ups and downs. But, for all its worth, it was making things easier. All that pain and frustration let out into the pillow, as she sobbed, quietly. There was not much room to breathe, and the fabrics were soon made soggy and salty with tears. Eventually, things quieted down. Perhaps the rational part of the brain managed to convince the emotional part that crying will not help things.
Or maybe just the tears ran out. Yomi lifted her head from the pillow, just as a cup of water was offered. Not lifting her eyes up.
"Thank you..."
She heard everything though. About the portal, and the zapping, and the devilish device wanting something from her. The girl could feel it against her thigh, in a pocket. It felt... cold, somehow. Colder than plastic should be. As if reminding her of its presence. Yomi pulled it out, and shook it in her hand, as if trying to throw it again. The device stuck to her hand, and the googly eyes spinned before glaring at her again. With a sigh, Yomi hid it back into the pocket. Only then, would her other hand become free.
"Ugh..."
The girl with the broken glasses drank the water in loud, greedy gulps. She'd drink more than one cup, taking the jar off from Kathy's hands, and pouring herself more and more. Her empty stomach needed something, anything to fill the emptiness, and water would do, for now. Upon returning the jar and the cup to her friend, Yomi found her hands wrapping around the girl's wrist. Keeping her within arms reach, not wanting to let go.
"Thank you... for... being with me..." - the girl's voice trembled a little as she felt water approach her eyes, closing them. Her shoulders shuddered again, as she tried to contain it inside.
"I... saw more things... But I don't know if... Nobody prepared me for such a situation... I need to get a hold of myself... It's shameful..."

Frustration was almost overwhelming inside of Katherine right now. It was well known by herself she couldn’t stand people crying. But Nobuhiko Yomi, who had literally done nothing to deserve something this awful? That was on a whole other level.
It was a good thing to see she had gladly received the water. It was obvious she needed it, a lot. While Yomi chugged on it, Katherine walked towards the kitchen once again. A faint smile graced her face. At least it was time to eat. She turned the kitchen off and reached for a couple of bowls, from around five placed over an old, wooden counter. Next to them, another pot, also fairly hot.
After a couple of minutes, Katherine came back, holding a metallic tray with both hands, which she placed over the crate next to Yomi’s bed, only to approach her and accept the jar and cup right after. Right when she tried to separate, she felt Yomi’s grip around her wrist. Her eyes then went to Yomi, blinking repeatedly.
Another faint smile made its way to the girl’s expression. She made a movement towards the crate next to the bed, trying to denote she was not going anywhere and she just needed to place the jar and cup somewhere to free her hands.
What for? Yomi would discover that rather quickly. Once Katherine had put both items on top of the crate, next to the breakfast, the green-eyed wrapped her arms around Yomi, leaning down a bit to reach her properly, considering she was sitting on the bed. This was probably one of the tightest and more love-filled hugs Katherine had ever given to anyone.
“You don’t have to thank me for that. We’re friends.” A short pause ensued. “And Jazz and I are not going to rest until we get you out of this world.” Was Katherine an expert in providing emotional support? Not at all. She was more like an apprentice, forced to get better by the unpleasant situation Yomi was going through. Of course, this hug came from the bottom of her hard and that should be as clear as day.
“Well, you can tell me about those things once you’ve eaten your breakfast.” Was Katherine interested in hearing them? Of course. But, right now, she was more interested in Yomi getting some food. The girl’s green eyes went to the metallic tray atop the crate, right next to Yomi’s bed. Four bowls rested on top of it. Two had miso soup, while two more had rice. Two sets of chopsticks could be easily spotted too.
“It’s just some miso soup with tofu and vegetables. I put some rice in another bowl too. I didn’t have time to prepare anything else. But I made enough food for you to repeat, if you want to.” A tender smile was thrown Yomi’s way. “I made the miso soup myself. I’m really not a fan of instant miso soup. I hope it’s good enough.”
Puffing her cheeks, she (attempted to) let go from the hug, only to throw a scolding glance at Yomi. “Don’t ever say that. Feeling sad is perfectly fine. Does that mean we’re going to give up? Well, of course not.” She finished her sentence by winking playfully.

Yomi felt a pair of arms wrap around her in an uncharacteristically tight hug.
For a moment, she seemed stunned, looking up and eyes widening a little, as she stared at Kathy who showered her with words of encouragement. Hugging was ... so unusual. In fact, Yomi could not recall when was the last time she was hugged like that. Her family was very ... traditional, and short on emotion towards her. But this felt... nice. A small smile appeared on Yomi's face, as she looked up, and hugged the girl back. For someone so small-statured, her emotional presence felt larger than life.
"Thanks, I... I needed that..."
Yomi let go of her friend with a bit of reluctance, fixing the glasses back on her nose, and wiping away the remains of tears. Though a bit of a red blush remained on her cheeks. But it was important to know that even in this hostile environment there were people willing to help. It could have been worse... it could've been much worse...
*GROWWWWWWL.*
Her stomach seemed to agree, letting out an uncharacteristically rude demand at the sight of food being brought in. Rice and Miso soup. These were traditional japanese foods, and their familiar smell and presence brought a sense of normalcy to the situation. Yomi took the sticks, almost dropping one but catching in mid-air, and after a short bow to her benefactor, tasted the food. Her eyes opened up wider, as she greedily took a few more bites from the tofu.
"Mnnn! This tastes really good!"
Or maybe it was the hunger settling in. When hungry, humans were capable of eating almost anything. Still, there were many strange feelings at play. And never before had Yomi felt she owed so much to anyone, not even to parents, who raised her. It was their duty to do so after all. Kathy... did not have an obligation to look after her. Which made her kindness so much more valuable. As Yomi was eating her food, her mind looked for something to latch on to. And so, it began scrambling to piece together that little dream she saw.
Grounding the girl back to this bizarre reality.
"I saw... a mountain. A serpent led me to the top, becoming a serpentine path as it passed it by. And at the end of it... there was a cave. Like a maw of a beast. There was a strong, forceful voice on the other side. It said only one word..."
Yomi put her sticks into the plate, and coughed a little, before uttering a single word.
"Come."
She tried to mimic the intonation, relaxing her throat muscles and making it sound much lower than normally. It had an almost inhuman reverberation, different from the girl's soft, quiet voice. And the voice was hard, commanding. All femininity drained from it.

Maybe by now, it was clear to Yomi that Katherine had a very easy-to-trigger laugh. In case it wasn’t, she contained herself from giggling at the girl’s growl of stomach. She didn’t want her to think she was mocking her or anything. Much like her friend, Katherine took her chopsticks and started having breakfast too.
Well, this was probably the best miso soup she had made so far! That didn’t mean it was particularly delicious, but she had been improving since she had settled in here in the Dark Area and had started cooking and whatnot.
The sound of Jazz’s suit hitting the floor would probably startle both girls a bit. The ChoHakkaimon had fallen from her sitting position and had gone from leaning against the wall to crashing against the ground. This only meant she was up.
“I’m up!” And she declared it, raising both of her arms into the air. “Good morning.” Her light brown eyes went to Katherine for a second, only to find out about some good news. “You’re awake, Yomi.” She showed a genuine smile to the teenager.
The digimon walked towards the improvised kitchen to serve herself some breakfast. Then, she would take a sit on the ground, next to Katherine and facing Yomi’s bed.
“Do you mean that?” Katherine asked. Was it really that good? Whether this was Yomi’s hunger speaking or an actual compliment to her food, it was nice. Then, the girl went to describe one of her dreams. Katherine and Jazz listened to her while they ate.
“That… does sound extremely bizarre.” Katherine pointed out. Again, she thought how Yomi was recreated the voice would be very funny if it wasn’t because all of this meant her D-Tector wanted her to go to a very odd and probably dangerous place!
“While you were sleeping...” Jazz spoke while she took some sips of her miso soup. “… we asked a friend of ours for help in order to see inside your dreams. I think we might actually have a clue of around where’s the place where your D-Tector wants you to go.”
Katherine nodded at her partner’s piece of insight. “By now, I think there should be no doubt your D-Tector is trying to make you do something for it. And I'm almost certain that it involves going inside that place that’s been coming up in your dreams.”
The duo kept eating. Katherine had one more surprise in store for Yomi, but that should wait until her friend was done having breakfast.

Yomi's muscles on her face tensed a little, as she made herself smile and gave a wave to Katherine's friend. That one was always so cheerful, the girl felt bad for being such a gloomy person around. But right now, she did not feel like smiling too much, which was why the impression was so weak. Instead, she focused on the soul-warming food, closing her eyes and pretending to be in her favorite Miso soup place in Shibuya.
Would be nice to go there with her... Once all of this is over... The girls would love to meet her too...
Such a warm thought. But it was gone the moment Kathy mentioned the digivice again. A small nostalgic smile vanished from Yomi's face, replaced by a worried frown. She never thought of it quite like that... And did not like how it sounded either.
"It's... scary. To be made to do something for someone you don't know... against your will... And being hurt if you don't..."
She shuddered a little.
"But... I guess there's not much of a choice for me. I just hope that after I do whatever that... thing wants of me, it would let me go. Instead of saying that I outlived my usefulness..."
A bit of grim humor, but with a dose of healthy fear behind it. Yomi drank the last of her soup, and looked into the empty bowl.
"Is that place far away? You already did so much for me... But I'm not sure if I can walk anywhere with... these things on. My skirt's barely hanging by the seams. So are my shoes. I think I pierced its sole on a sharp rock while going to that strange village, where the Witchmon lives..."

“It is super scary.” Katherine stood up after finishing her own bowl of soup and rice. She picked up the tray, making a gesture so Yomi placed her own bowls on top of it and took it away. While she listened to Yomi, Katherine washed the dishes in an old sink, water falling over the dirt, slowly drying.
“I have never seen anything like it before, it’s… really upsetting.” She continued, once the girl was done with her own piece of insight. Jazz just nodded, while she kept taking rice with her chopsticks and into her mouth. “Up to now, I have only seen humans who are somewhat willing to go where their spirits tell them. I sincerely doubt any of them would be zapped if they refused, though.” Maybe this wasn’t making things any better, right?
Well, one thing was for sure. “But it’s going to be okay. We’re going to do whatever that spirit wants you to do for them and then we’ll look for a way of getting you back home.” And that wasn’t a lie. Not at all. “If I’m not mistaken, what they want is for you to awaken them. And once you do, we’ll probably be able to speak directly to them.” The amount of commitment Katherine had about helping Yomi getting back home was not up for debate.
Yet still, the last comment issued by the girl with glasses, made Katherine remember something that would certainly help a lot. That surprise she had in store for Yomi.
“I think it’s not that far away. Jazz can always fly us there.” Katherine walked towards another create, located at the other side of the tent. She opened it and immediately took a set of folded clothes out. "About your clothes...
...Here.” She walked towards Yomi, extending both hands to hand her the clothes, showing a tender smile. “Don’t worry, these are brand new. A friend fixed my digivice yesterday so I can now open portals too. I went to Whitewater and bought some clothes for you. These are also a bigger size than my own clothes, so they should fit perfectly”
Once Yomi started unfolding them, the Spaniard's face would wrinkle. “Humans clothes are rather… weird in most Digital World shops. But at least these are clean and not torn apart.” She’d smile again.
The outfit consisted of red-velvet tight jeans, black sneakers, and a plain white t-shirt. It had been the most fashionable thing Katherine could find in a last-minute purchase last night. Well, that and...
"Also..." In her left hand, she was still holding an object. Upon further inspection, Yomi would notice it was a toothbrush. "... I figured you'd want this too. It's a gift."
As much 'normality' as the Digital World could offer.

Yomi looked at Kathy, then at the clothes she brought up in a neat folded stack, her jaw dropping a little in a silenced gasp, before she took what was offered. These were... good clothes. Without holes, muddy smudges, rips, and loose strings. She wrapped her arms around the items, almost as if afraid someone would take them away, before looking up at her friend again.
"You did so much for me already... I-I swear, once I get home, I'll find a way to return your kindness... whenever that is..."
With that, Yomi started to wiggle out of the sweater she was given earlier, eager to change into these new clothes, which still had the scent of fresh fabrics and the store. Half-way through, she remember not being alone in the room, and poked out from the hole made for the head.
"Um... could you guys turn away for a bit? It won't be long..."
She'd return to changing once prying eyes were pointed somewhere else. Soon enough, the girl stood up from her bunk, leaving the old clothes on it. Feeling the jeans wrap neatly around her body. They felt a bit tight, especially around the rear, clinging to the figure, but that would probably go away with a bit of wearing. The red color attracted attention. The white shirt and the sneakers were fine, as the former was loose enough and the latter was picked to her size. A small smile appeared on Yomi's face. The change of clothes made her feel like a teenager girl again, and not a survivor of a horror show.
But then came the cherry on top. The sight of the little utensil made the girl smile with a wide, idiot grin.
"Ahhh!"
She gasped and lunged forward, wrapping her arms around Kathy in a very strong hug, even lifting her up from the air a little, before letting go and snatching the toothbrush, and running off to the sink. For good five minutes, that brush would be put to use, as Yomi just stood there, polishing her teeth like people do in the commercials. There was no toothpaste, but it seemed to matter very little right now. She'd stop only once her gums would start bleeding a little, and spit out, before washing her face.
"I really... really... really needed that."

“You don’t have to return anything. Let’s just hope you go back soon.”
Saying Katherine had doubts about all of this was an understatement. She didn’t see the spirit letting go of Yomi so easily after being found. Yet still… they really had no option but trying, right? In any case, a chat about this with Yomi was more than needed. And it needed to happen rather soon.
Jazz had finished her own bowls of miso soup and rice. She washed her own set of dishes and just stared at Yomi as she started to change clothes in front of them, giggling.
“S-Sure…” Katherine replied.
“They look very good on you!” The Spaniard noted. They… actually did. It was as if a new Yomi was being born. A Yomi that was getting accustomed to the Digital World, in order to be able to get the hell out of it. This was pure survival instinct in the making. “The whole outfit really highlights your figure and it even matches a bit. I think I did a good job at picking these up.” The shorter teenager showed a proud-of-herself smile.
In all honesty, Katherine would have even suggested opening a portal for Yomi to go back to Whitewater city and get to a place where she could take a shower. Two things stopped her. First and foremost, the uncertainty of whether she would get zapped by her D-tector again or not, even if she was not going out the Digital World. Second, the idea of Yomi wanting to get the hell out of here as soon as possible and not actually wanting to go as far as taking a shower in this world.
Not long after, Katherine just let herself be hugged. She let out a tiny, nervous burst of laughter as she was even lifted from the ground. Of course there was toothpaste though! The curly-haired girl would never leave home without one of those, so she lent some to her friend, who cleaned her teeth thoroughly.
The mixture of this and the new set of clothes seemed to have given Yomi some fresh air to keep going in her quest.
“I knew things would get better when we reached the settlement. We always make sure to have everything we need around here. After all, you can’t work if you don’t have the proper conditions.” While Jazz spoke to Yomi, Katherine walked to the back of the tent, to change out of her own pink pajamas.
The teenager came back, wearing a pair of brown exploring boots, dark-green shorts, and a camel sleeveless shirt. “Okay. We had breakfast, we brushed our teeth and we even got changed. I'd say we are ready to go. What do you think?”

It was, indeed, time to go.
All things considered, rest, food, and even teeth-brushing was a small distraction away from the main issue. The main goal. In order to return home, Yomi had to go to the place of her dreams. To the cave found high upon the mountain, along the serpentine path. The one marked by a black cross. Everything about this trip was ominous. As Kathy mentioned it, the girl became a bit pale, fidgeting about, bringing hands together and clasping them one against another.
I'm going to see whoever that thing inside my pocket belongs to... And it had already hurt me once... For disobedience.
Something told her this meeting would not be friendly.
But... she had Kathy with her. And her big, strong digimon that could fly. Surely, that would be enough to protect her, right? Eyeing Jazz for a little while, Yomi simply hoped that it would be enough. Maybe I could reason with it... somehow. Whatever it wants from me... surely it could find someone else...
Unlikely as it was. It took all of the girl's resolve to gather enough courage to proceed. Bringing her broken glasses back to her nose, Yomi nodded, determined.
"Yeah. Lets go. No point in dragging our feet, anyway..."

Tilting her head and looking a bit pensive, Jazz stared back at Yomi . “You look good.” She ended up offering a kind smile to the girl. Well, that was that. It was time to go. Yomi was all dressed up and semi-washed up, so at least she was in better conditions to face whatever she had to face next. Once the group stepped out of the tent, Katherine took out her digivice. “Time to fly.” She uttered. ARMOR EVOLUTION. A glimpse of light engulfed Jazz and it faded not long after. The former pig-girl was once again a huge, flying beast. “We’re flying to the east, right?” She asked, with a more mature, yet feminine voice. “Right. Towards the Sea of Blood.” Katherine hopped on the griffin’s back to then extend her hand to her friend, while she kept talking to Jazz. “We should look for one of the biggest mountains around. It should have a serpentine path and a cave on top. I’m not sure if the 'X' around the cave on the top that we saw at Nei’s projection was a part of the mountain itself or it was only the spirit telling us that’s where we should go. But it should be enough with the info we have.”The characteristic green-colored aura that deployed around Hippogriffimon before engaging flight didn’t take long to appear. Some seconds later, they were high above the sky. “Yomi…” Katherine lowered her gaze a bit, having trouble to utter her next words. This had to be said. There was no way around it. “… your D-tector… I-I mean… this… spirit…” Another pause. “They have done a lot to keep you around. And… “ The green-eyed let out a sigh. “… I don’t think they’re going to let you go that… easily."
Gosh, this was hard. But it would be harder for Yomi to find about this too late along the way. “I-I’m not saying you won’t be able to eventually go back home…! You certainly will! but… ” Being in front of Yomi while riding Jazz, Katherine’s gaze couldn’t meet her friend’s. ”… just… be prepared for having to do some… more things before this spirit lets you go back, okay?”It was likely they would see the mountain they were looking for soon enough.

This was not the first time Yomi was flying on the back of this strong, majestic creature. But it did not matter much. The moment the beast lifted off the ground, Yomi's arms were wrapped around Kathy from behind, holding her in a vice grip. Had she been a bit stronger, it would've been hard to breathe. But the girl did not really care right now. The land was becoming small beneath them, and her eyes were wide and unblinking, teeth chattering lightly against each other. The whole place looked like Mordor, with rivers of lava, seas of blood, clouds of ash, and mountains of doom. The least of her desires was to become a small droplet of blood splattered against the ground of this dark and inhospitable land. She barely paid attention to what Kathy said to her, about the spirit wanting to keep her around. Right now, looking down and keeping still to not fall off was her main worry. "S-sure... s-so long it does not involve flying..."__________The flight to the mountain range took a few hours, during which Yomi managed to say her farewells to mom, dad, Kathy, and all her friends. The accursed spire was getting closer and closer, and Yomi recognized it more and more from her first dream. It seemed like the spire itself had a flattened surface right next to the peak, looking like a perfect place to land. A long, serpentine like path across the mountains was leading to it. And dug into the peak, there was a cave. Yes, that had to be the place. The gryphon-like digimon would slowly descend down, and land on the gray surface, and let the girls climb down. They could not imagine what awaited them. Swords. There were swords everywhere, littering the place. Stuck in the ground at different angles, some of them were firmly planted, while others barely held by the hard, ashen ground. It seemed that rust did not touch them at all, presenting the picture in all of its eerie glory. Each sword was huge in size, way taller than either Kathy or Yomi. The girl with the broken glasses stood there, jaw unhinging a little, as she looked at at the swords. The one she was closest too. It was a double-handed sword, with a very ornamented hilt. Trimmed in silver and gold, the sides of the hilt looked like wings, and there was a golden sign etched into the blade, but in a language Yomi could not read or understand. In fact, all of the swords were kind of like this one. Beautiful, elaborate, with signs, gems, and gold covering them. Each - a work of art. But when piled together in a place like this, individual splendor seemed to fade, blurring with one another. "It's ... like an ancient battlefield... Or a cemetery. Creepy." - Yomi shifted her shoulders and walked away from the sword. Not that there was many places to go. There were swords everywhere. And Yomi felt... surrounded. Then, there was a ring inside of her head. A painful ring, as if though someone put a bell on her head and slammed against it. It felt like it'd make her ears bleed without actually piercing the drums. It followed by a short, brisk command. "Come!"Yomi fell on her knees, grabbing her head with both hands. But soon afterwards, the ringing stopped. The girl blinked a few times, looking at the gaping maw of the cave. "It... it is there... This is the place."
