Another busy afternoon at Downtown Shibuya. Even if the sun was not excessively bright, it was still kind of a hot day. With people coming out of their workplace or school, the streets were as crowded as they could get. People going back and forward, heading to the subway, a restaurant or whatever their busy lives would take them. Students, businessmen and women, and just regular tourists. Right now, this part of the district was a mixture of many types of races and cultures. Maybe even... some coming from places beyond this world. That was the case of a certain egg. A Digitama, actually. It rested peacefully next to a trashcan, around one of the back allies of the area. Upon further inspection, anyone would notice it was way bigger than any regular egg that you could get at the supermarket. Besides, it had a flaming design that would most definitely raise anyone's attention. Then again, the thing would probably come as an oddity to anyone who found it. Anyone, instead... well, one of the creatures that actually comes out of those. Next to the Digitama, a gadget rested. It had a red-colored strap that actually encompassed the egg, like if it was meant to be by its side. Other than that, it bestowed a black matte tonality with a white stripe. This device would probably come as strange for just anyone. Except for that little group of the ones that were experts in these types of creatures. It was probably impossible to know who brought this egg or how it got there. It was just there, lonely. Maybe waiting for someone as lonely as it to find it?

It appeared through the sharp eyes of 404 that the real world was an interesting place, indeed. The fluffy-bodied cat sat upon a sun-bleached rooftop, legs dangling freely over the edge, as she enjoyed the rays of bright light. From this height and location, she could people watch with ease. “Humans are so funny,” she said with a purr, peering down over the edge and down to the streets below with her lamp-like eyes. Humans were very strange, indeed. It was difficult to understand how they might react next.
She was trying to be a little more careful around the natives. Especially since the last humans, 404 had met had disappeared into thin air, right under her nose in a flash of white light. That had been most strange. With this thought, the ginger bodied cat jumped up and shook herself and stretched out. “Nya-ice to chat with you!” She turned and waved to a group of pigeons who have been stood around her, not afraid in the slightest of the oversized feline. Clearly, these birds were used to street cats. Perhaps, not talking ones.
With a pounce, she jumped across the roof to the next, and then to the one, after that – landing softly each time. After some time of hopping from roof to roof, 404 approached the edge of the building again and looked down. Below 404 was some kind of alleyway, bleak, dreary, dirty but deserted.
Rather not to jump all that way, 404 used the drainpipe as a makeshift slide – leaving long claw marks in the plastic. As soon as she fell to the ground, her body began to flicker and spark. “No, no, not ny-ow.” she grumbled, grabbing her left arm. The arm vanished for a second, replaced by a great grey blurred outline, a mixture of 1s and 0s imprinted over it.
Suddenly weakened by the odd effect, 404 fell to the side into the bins with a clatter of metal. “Ouchy,” she muttered, holding her head which has struck the bin. That was when she saw it.
Something that was clearly out of place in this world. A great egg at least twice the size of a human egg. Black in color, except for a flame design which burned up from the bottom. The cat’s head tilted to the left, with obvious confusion. She poked it softly with a claw, but it just rocked a little.

The egg wiggled to its sides, before finding some type of balance and standing still in its vertical axis. Since she saw it for the first time, 404 would probably have noticed the flames on the egg’s design were… glowing intensively! After that poke, the glowing got even brighter. It seemed as if, more than hatching, there was something inside the egg that was more than ready to come out! Once again, the egg started moving. However, this time around it looked like what made it rock was something pushing from the inside. For the first time, a sound could be heard. It sounded like a very acute laugh. The sound was not even akin to a human child’s laughter as it was even more acute than that. It didn’t come to the point of being annoying, but it was definitely very quirky. After a few bumps coming from its inside, the egg started breaking. Slowly but constantly, the layers of the egg started falling and its crumbling layout started revealing a bright-orange creature. It seemed to be responding to some kind of stimulus. It seemed to have been triggered by the fact that, what had touched it, was a creature akin to it. A Digital Monster. Two minutes of bumping and laughing after, the creature had broken the entirety of the egg and was completely out. Now, 404 would be able to perceive its full appearance. A bright orange-colored digimon was now staring at 404 with its dark eyes. It had a rounded shape, two small wings coming out of its sides and two tiny horns coming out of its upper part. The former pair didn’t seem like they could provide flight at all, while the latter had an oil-colored design as if they were half-made of metal. Soon enough, the Meicoomon would notice a wide grin was gracing the baby digimon’s face and his eyes had acquired a certain glimmer as if he was looking at something... completely marvelous. He seemed to be... happy she was here. Suddenly, the little creature tried to hop towards the cat, only for the sound caused by hopping over one of the broken layers of his own egg to raise his attention. The digimon stared at these pieces of its broken shells for a couple of seconds. His gaze then went to 404. Then to the broken shells again. As if he had made up his mind, the digimon started munching on the pieces of broken egg laying around He seemed to be having fun.

Gently, with just a single claw – the Meicoomon, 404 poked the egg. It rocked once again but didn’t fall over. “This is T E R R I B L E! Why would a Digimon’s Egg be in this world!” She announced suddenly at the top of her voice. 404 bent down to look at the egg more closely taking in the strange flame patterns on the blackened shell.
As she did so, the egg shook wildly from side to side. It was almost like it was about to hatch…
“Oh no, no no no no. I’m no parent!!” She fell backward again, once again bumping her floof covered head against the bin. “Ouchy,” she muttered, holding the growing lump after twice, bumping her head. But, it was too late. The egg broke open – layers crumbled from the outer shell, slowly revealing what was inside. It was bumping against the inner shell, trying to break free and laughing as it did so.
The Digimon was tiny and rather cute. It was rounded, with horns and tiny wings. Large black ball-eyes stuck out from the front, blinking brightly and a wide mouth. The wide eyes stared right into 404’s eyes. “Nooo, I’m not your parent. Nyat happening!” She shook her head and took a step backward. “N O P E!”
But the strange newborn Digimon bounced away from 404 and lifted the remains of eggshell and chomped down on it with a strong bite. “Right, nyow what do I do,” she lifted a finger to her face and tapped it, confused and unsure what to do. “What if it…” Just as she was about to say it, her body lit up a little, flickering in the dim light of the alleyway. Her body dissolved briefly into a white silhouette filled with only 1s and 0s. “...that.”
She sighed as her body returned to normal. “What am I supposed to do with you? Nya!” The Nya was just a cat-thing, she was sure, or perhaps not. This world’s “cats” did it, so why not her too.
“I could take you back to the Digital World, I guess,” she said, more to herself than to the newborn. “The mean ol’ Digital World, nyaa...” Her ears drooped at the thought of it. “I don’t wanna go back though.”
She stepped towards the newborn, tentatively. Unsure what she wanted to do. As she did, so she stepped on something hard. “Ouchy...” Looking down, 404 caught sight of a strange device. Black and red in design. 404 lifted it up and looked closer at it. “What’s this? A fun human toy?”

While Chobimon munched on the pieces of the egg he had just hatched from, something caught his attention. This digimon seemed to be… glitching. The small dragon turned his gaze towards 404. His face wrinkled at the sight of his body vanishing into a binary silhouette. He seemed… worried.
The creature bounced towards his peer, as if he was asking if she was fine. The sounds he made were somewhat intelligible, but maybe the Meicoomon could get what he tried to say? Once her body went back to normal, Chobimon sprang towards her, trying to get a hug, showing a wide smile.
Upon hearing her words, the baby digimon jumped back. He shook his body from left to right repeatedly, showing a disheveled expression. Going back to the Digital World? He didn’t like that idea, that much was clear. Another smile graced Chobimon, as he started jumping in circles around 404, and laughing once again. This was after she saying she didn’t want to go back. It seemed as if he was saying something... ‘then don’t’.
Suddenly, something else raised the duo’s attention. It was that device that had been with the egg all along. Chobimon had definitely not eaten that. Why? The answer would be met rather soon.
Smiling, the digimon leaped towards the Meicoomon’s head. He started bouncing up and down, looking at the digivice she was holding. His eyes seemed to glimmer with excitement. If 404 pressed any button, a yellow dot would start flickering on the gadget’s screen. As if it were a mere radar.
Chobimon started laughing again, almost as if his curiosity had been replaced with expectation. Maybe they should… try to follow the signal?
If they did, the little trip would take them around Shibuya as a whole. Traffic, roofs and all kinds of people going back and forward. During all of that tour, Chobimon would either follow 404 from up close or rest in her arms, considering he couldn't do any big jumps. When the yellow dot seemed to have grown closer to the center of the screen, it meant they had arrived.
From an alley, they stared at an open window of what seemed to be a regular human house.
