(this is a remade of an unfinished thread)
That day, both Tetsu and Nik found themselves contacted through D-Terminal message by KIZNA leader Itou Yuuki. Tetsu immediately head there right after his school. Thankfully it was Friday, and he asked to his parents to allow him to go to a friend's house. He immediately got their permission as long as he's 'careful'. What for he had no idea but either way, here he is, in Aeterna's basement where KIZNA base was located. He soon was greeted by Haku and brought inside to the office.
"Sorry for calling you four at such short time," Yuuki began then. "I want to make sure about something. Tetsu, did you took this picture?"
He slid a photo in front of him. It was enlarged and quite crisp quality showing a huge mountain-like structure with entry point. It looked like a cave.
"...Um, yeah... What's with it?"
Honestly he took it with his smartphone. He thought that it's fried upon entering to Digital World, but apparently the photo function is still working and here he is. But even then the picture back then should be blurry. He only took it because he felt how unique it was. There were a lot of crystal pillars around it too, far more than any other areas.
"...Think four of you can go there and see what's up with it?"
...No idea what happened, but eh well, he guess he'll comply. It's an adventure!
"Nik, sorry to impose this upon you, but please help Tetsu, alright? As the creed say: Don't act alone in a mission. That means just Tetsu and Gryz is not enough. I'm counting on you."

When Nik got Yuuki's message through the D-Terminal, he was quickly curious. And also interested. He hadn't gone on many adventures to the digital world lately with Brad, since most of his time was being spent in Terminus City, where thanks to the time difference, he could spend seven times longer with his favorite pursuits. On top of that was reading.
Since moving to Japan, Nik was at first a little awkward with the language, but, the book club at high school was so fun that he simply had to learn as much as he could about it. And furthermore his partner Brad the Gryzmon fully encouraged this. Many nights, Nik sat by his side, leaning against his warm fur, reading aloud to him books in English, books in Japanese, even books in his native Maori, although those were a little rare, but Brad seemed to like them the most.
Thankfully Yuuki requested him to go to the base within Terminus, and so, Nik replied that he'd be able to make it. And thus he appeared in the Aeterna's basement at the agreed time, Brad padding along behind him.
"Hiya" he said to those present, eager to find out what this was about. The duo made their usual friendly greetings with those in the room before they got down to business. They were delighted to hear that this would be an expedition of sorts. When Yuuki showed the picture, Brad recognized it immediately.
"That's the Shining Sea" the Gryzmon exclaimed. "I've been there before, with Cion, Mana, Colin and their partners."
"Really? Alright! This is perfect!" Nik said, grinning. "It's not too dangerous is it?"
"Not that I know, we didn't encounter any others" Brad admitted. "However, we did find an abandoned village... hmm... this looks different to what we saw though."
"Alrighty" Nik said, patting him on the shoulder. He turned to Yuuki, then nodded at that request. "Sure, no worries! I'm happy to look after Tetsu and Gryz for a bit" he grinned and gave a thumbs-up, although it was probably more accurate the other way around, since Nik was pretty sure that Gryz could evolve to Ultimate while Brad could only go as high as Perfect. Still, Tetsu was a kid for the moment, so of course Nik was fine with looking after him.
"So, how are we going there? Trailmon or...?" he looked at the others for an answer.

"Well I don't think the train goes that far really... Ryouta is currently out, otherwise we can get there with Ilbert, but thing is he's helping out his family cafe for the weekend, so going to Digital World probably not going to happen. Does any of you have any transportation by air method?"
"I do," Gryz answered.
"Alright, then I know it'll be tiring, but I'll be counting on you, Gryz."
"Got it. No worries."
Looks like that both Nik and Brad already well acquainted to that part... thank goodness. Hopefully they're better with direction than he is... well, either way, they headed to the train terminal and boarded a Trailmon. Gryz sat first followed by Tetsu. That day, there are not quite a lot people heading to the north. By the time they arrived at Snowflake, most people but four of them already left the train. It will take them a bit farther before the last stop at the end. It'll be quite steep, so their journey will take longer than the time it took from Terminus to Snowflake.
Tetsu used this time to strike a chat.
"So Nik? Sup? Had a lot of fun lately? Anything good? It's rare to see you lately, so I'm curious what you've been doing, heh heh~"

So then, it seemed they'll be flying to the destination on Gryz. Nik and Brad were curious to find out what this would entail. But of course, they wouldn't be flying all the way. It seemed that they'd be taking a considerable amount of the route by rail as expected.
As they rode on the Trailmon from Terminus to Snowflake, Nik tried to entertain the four of them by teaching them games with playing cards. All doable on the carriage table in front of them, where he hopefully taught them several games they could play together in idle time.
After they departed the Trailmon and would proceed to the site from there, Nik wrapped his scarf around his neck, while Brad double-checked his straps. The comfort was over, now the serious hiking would begin, it seemed.
Nik turned to Tetsu as he asked his questions.
"Ah, not much, bro." the Maori man replied. "Just been keeping up with friends I made in high school after graduating. Our book club's going great! But, ah, haven't really had much chance to return to the digital world. I've gotta work so it seems, so, that's taking up a lot of my time."
Nik would have loved to spend more time in the digital world, but work left him so exhausted that he barely found the opening necessary. Thankfully this time, he had the leave to do so.

So Nik has been busy. It's a pity. There are a lot of things that can be done in Digital World... but at the same time, Gryz hearing Nik saying that thought of Tetsu's schedule. He does indeed socialize with his friends, but... he never really hang out with them. To hang out with someone as old as you, and to spend more time socializing with them probably would benefit Tetsu in the long run. Unfortunately the preteen has never expressed any interest in that. He chat and all that, but he's more interested in Digital World than he is interested in his friends.
"Hee... book clubs? Anything nice to read I wonder? I'm trying to pick fantasy books..."
Huh, that's something new even to Gryz. He turned his head to Tetsu, who suddenly followed with
"For ideas of attacks and all that--"
and Gryz facepalmed. But Tetsu then laughed. "Just kidding. I just feel like it's interesting to relax and just read book at times, you know?"
"Who are you and what did you do to my brother?"
"Hey, rude!"
Of course two of them are just messing around.
Once they reached a good spot with stable ground, Tetsu whipped out his Digivice and willed his partner to evolve. It looked terrifying, but... at the end, Gryz is still Gryz. Despite the visual of the evolution should be terrifying, especially with how warp evolution to Belphemon worked, with storm of negative energy and corrupted earth data, Gryz still keep his calm zen face, even as Belphemon.
"...Hrrr..."
"Ah, I forgot to tell you two that he can't talk in this form... so he said he's a bit annoyed about how he can buy the biggest boombox, rad sunglasses and huge bling bling necklace but not rap."

Nik was delighted with that idea being raised. "Yep! Fantasy books are our specialty! Heh, we've spent so many hours of our meetings discussing how the mythologies of East, West and the South all mix in..." he then paused to halt himself, then added further. "As in... the mythologies of Europe, Japan and New Zealand. We even did a little fantasy story roleplay where legends from all three locations intertwined. It was... pretty amazing I have to say."
Nik hoped he wasn't being too much of an overbearing nerd here. But, he felt it was valid at the least, given the interest in this subject, apparently. But Brad cleared his throat, indicating they should probably pay more attention to the world around them.
"Ah, right, of course" Nik said, then brought his attention to the present. They eventually found a nice clear spot. Nik and Brad awaited the next events, but the sheer scale of Tetsu evolving Gryz to his Ultimate form took them both by surprise. The cute little Bearmon evolving into such a goat-bear beast... so massive too. Both stared in disbelief.
So much that it took a few moments for them to respond to Tetsu, who explained that Gryz couldn't talk in this form. "Ah... okay then. We'll... still be able to know if he's satisfied or not with something, right?" Nik asked, a little worried that with Gryz turning to a more wild form, he'd be able to know in time if the Belphemon intended to throw him and Brad off, he'd get enough warning. It was at this point that he wished he spent more time in the digital world so he didn't have to come off as some kind of novice.
Still though, if this was their mode of transport, Nik would approach. Brad meanwhile hesitated. "Would I need to de-digivolve?" he asked. Mainly because he weighed 700kg as Gryzmon, but could reduce himself to 40kg as Bearmon if required. Once that was sorted out, the two of them would mount as invited.

"Roleplay?" Tetsu repeated.
"Ah, you know, people assuming some role... like... hmmm, if you assume a role as Kintarou I think that'd fit you," Gryz joked.
"Oooh that sort, huh! It's an interesting hobby for sure. Kintarou's body is sumo wrestler-like though. Although I guess it's really nice to pretend to have strength that huge... one to lift a bear and all that."
"Dude, who was it that judo tossed me once as Gryzmon?"
"Who? Me, righ--oh."
Once again, Tetsu forgotten how him in his limiter off, does indeed slams offbalanced Gryz to the ground. Tetsu grinned sheepishly and scratched his head. "But I mean, having that sort of strength all the time sounded so... nice you know? Well at least I don't think people will treat me as just a kid like that."
That again, eh well. Gryz just shrugged. Still, looks like Tetsu is hooked. "Let's talk about this on the journey there, sounds good?"
Though, on Nik asking about whether they will know that Gryz is satisfied about something or not, the Belphemon calmly signed. His zenface still plastered on his Belphemon muzzle.
"He said he won't go berserk in this form and he have it under control, so don't worry. Also, no need to devolve. He said he can lift 20 tons easily with one arm... I think that's cheating honestly... Anyway, he ask if it's fine with you though, because he's not sure that assuming that form would... probably make you doesn't have strong enough of a grip? it'll be quite the fast wind after all... oh right..."
Tetsu took out a giant sized shade for Gryz to wear that he gratefully took and wear. Gryz put his hands on his waist and pretended to pose, making Tetsu laugh out loud. He distributed some more shades for the rest.
"Wear these. I heard the white sands are bad for your eyesight..."

Nik felt a little awkward when he realized Tetsu wasn't entirely following what he was saying. But when the familiarity kicked in, he was delighted. "Yeah! We've done some Kintarou scenarios too, it was pretty fun. We mainly treated it as writing exercises of course".
Nik and Brad then stared as the conversation between Tetsu and Gryz seemed to reveal that they had actually performed such a feat. Nik was a little skeptical at first, but, he saw Tetsu's muscles under his clothes, and, well, he didn't doubt he had that strength.
Tetsu mentioned that he didn't think people would treat him as a kid with such blatant displays of strength. "Whew, bro, I reckon if you did something like suplex a bear they'd treat you a certain way alright..." Nik said, a little sheepishly. "Although... don't actually do that, heh, was just making a joke."
Once there in present, Nik and Brad were somewhat reassured that Gryz was still docile and their friend even as a speechless Belphemon. His calm face reassured them, and any worry they might have had quickly faded.
Both Nik and Brad were astonished at the news that Gryz could carry up to 20 tons. But, Brad's shock subsided a little and he made a grin. "Well, if you're okay with carrying me, Gryz, I don't mind" he said, and would let the Belphemon lift him along.
Lastly, Tetsu would distribute dust shades to them. Nik and Brad recognized the importance of these at once and slipped them over their eyes, neither of them wanted to be blinded by dust, especially of the sharp glassine type that seemed to be abundant here.
"Well, I'm ready when you are, bro" Nik said to his companions as soon as they were ready.

"Why does it help your writing ability?" Tetsu asked.
"Because writing scenarios are art in itself. By letting your fantasy running, you're stimulating your scenario writing ability. However, not all scenarios includes 'realistic' character. By realistic I mean they're not like two dimensional in their pursuit. They have depth to their character. They have goal, they have likes and dislikes, they have past, they have certain reaction to other... that sort of thing. Balancing the two, making well loved character would make you a great writer."
"Hee!" and looks like Tetsu like that sort of scenario. "Nah, I won't beat people up just like that! That'd be cruel! Well, it's not like I can suplex a bear every single time anyway. I'm sure I'd break my growth plates like that... uh... what's growth plates again?"
"Basically they're part of bones where you're growing. If it breaks well... uh, you won't grow properly."
"...I want to be taller. I don't think I'll pull that off."
"Then again, Tetsu... according to machine in Spartan Training Ground you already can lift 240kg in one rep deadlift. What is there to train anymore?"
"Ahahaha... I guess I keep forgetting about that, huh?"
"Seriously... You should stop training!"
"I guess I'll just do live action roleplaying that I've been hearing a lot lately! Maybe that'll be fun!"
And looks like he's starting to develop new hobbies at it.
Gryz lifted Brad and flew toward the Shining Sea.
"Hrrrr..." the Belphemon pointed at crystals during the way.
"I wonder what are those?" Tetsu muttered. "...It's always been in my mind, but those crystals made it felt magical doesn't it? It felt like they're unique and only exist in this place..."

Gryz explained to Tetsu better than Nik or Brad could. "Heh, you almost sound like a writer yourself, eh, Gryz?" Nik asked, grinning. "If you got a holosuit and lived near us in Tokyo, you could fit in really well in our club."
"Or we could start a club in the digital world?" Brad asked, the Gryzmon rubbing his chin with thoughts. "We digimon do rather well in interpreting multiple languages after all."
"That sounds like a sweet idea!" Nik exclaimed. He looked again to Tetsu, who seemed to be thinking about his growth. Nik chose to make an input here. "Well, to be honest, bro, I think you'll be bigger than I am. You're heaps more bulky than I was at your age... you're 11, right?" he asked to confirm. Yeah, Nik had always been a big kid, but Tetsu looked 2-3 years beyond normal size for his age.
And 240kg in a deadlift? "Whoa... almost sounds like we've got an olympic gold medallist here for loads of stuff!" Nik said, half teasingly, but also in earnest as well, Tetsu's theoretical strength was marvelous.
As they began their flight to the Shining Sea, it took a few minutes for Nik and Brad to get used to the sensation. Nik felt he had the wind knocked out of him, and Brad desperately shifted himself so that he didn't feel like he was slipping from Gryz's grip, but, eventually, things stabilized. And they saw the Shining Sea below.
Tetsu asked what the crystals were. Nik didn't know, but Brad had an inkling. "It's just a theory, but, those crystals seem to have a link with digivolution." he explained. "I saw my friends Colin and Luke touch one at the same time, then it made Luke digivolve immediately. Without using the digivice. We didn't have a chance to investigate them in full, but, Luke theorized that these crystals might have a link to our digivices."
"Huh... that's interesting." Nik remarked. He didn't know how the digivices functioned, and it wouldn't surprise him if it came down to some kind of magical crystal. He had heard of stranger things in the digital world after all.

"I'd like to be Mr. Bearington, a writer in fursuit, mysteriously appears in the book club, talks only in 'beartalk', with a blackboard to tell what I actually mean and probably will come with freshly baked cookies to snack on."
"Pfff---!" The image just made Tetsu laugh. He totally can see Gryz just walking in two feet, pretending that his Gryzmon form is a fursuit, sit on the floor, make bear noises, and write on small blackboard of what he wanted to say. Him nomming cookies and drinking tea would be pushing that joke further. Not to mention, what if he gave him tophat and butterfly tie?
"Starting a club in Digital World is great too. I think we can make one in Rosewood, more access, eh?"
Tetsu shyly scratches his head when he's called bulky. "My friends told me that too. They said it's just been a year since I last joined them, but I somehow grew beefier than anyone in the school. Well to be honest that's because in Digital World I don't grow older that fast, but no matter how you see it, I pretty much has spent about three years here in that year you know?"
Gold medalist? "Pffft, I don't think it's my calling but hey, a bit of a fame won't hurt~" Tetsu answered. "Then again, no matter how you think about it, this world is essentially 'a cheat'. People think that I'm smart, or I'm really strong, but the truth is... this world gave me the most precious thing ever: Time. With it I can catch up with my studies no matter how behind I am. Even if there is a tournament in a week, I could have gone here and extend my training time to three to seven times longer... Normal people won't get it, but I don't think I'm particularly talented at all."
The talk about the crystal are interesting, but as they approached their destination, more and more crystals could be seen.
"...Why there are so many here? I... the first time I came here, I don't think there are these many crystals..."
"Hrrrr."
"Ah, time to descend huh? Alright, let's do that!"
Gryz landed close to the mouth of the cave. It was rather... lonely looking. There are almost nothing here but the crystals tree.
"....Hmn?"
Suddenly, both human's digivice would trill rapidly, like something calling them to go inside. "...Should we go in?"

After chuckling at the idea of Mr. Bearington, they did agree that Rosewood might be a rather nice place to set up such a club. It was full of young digimon fresh from the Village of Beginnings after all, and surely some of them might be interested in the realms of artistic writing? If there was one thing that Nik was most impressed about digimon it was their ability to quickly learn languages. In his time of knowing Brad, Nik had soon found out he could understand, speak and read Japanese, English, French, Spanish and Russian. If other digimon were like that, he could easily picture a literature club in Rosewood.
Then Tetsu pointed out an advantage of being able to access the digital world. Yes, time... training for one hour on Earth was equivalent to training for 7 hours in the digital world. Much more time was available. Some might call that cheating, but not in Nik or Brad's view. Tetsu still put effort into those hours of training after all. And it was something they'd consider in the time to come.
As they closed in to land, Tetsu remarked that there was many more crystals here than he remembered. Nik turned to Brad, given that the Gryzmon was here before. "This look right to you, Brad?" he asked.
"Well... they certainly are concentrated around this area I have to say." Brad answered. There were a lot of crystals when he arrived, but this particular spot seemed to be more densely packed with them. What that meant, he didn't know.
As they landed, both Tetsu and Nik's digivices lit up with a signal of activity. Tetsu asked if they should go in. Nik agreed. "My experience with things like this is if the digivice says so, it's probably right to do it." he answered.
A little nervous though, he and Brad made their way into the cave, wondering what awaited them ahead.

Hmmm, looks like they agreed to come in after all. Tetsu devolved Gryz back to Bearmon.
"....Look over there," Gryz pointed at a side of the mountain. There is something that looked like a sizable hut, japanese in style. From the look of it, it's some sort of a training ground. It's however already run down from old age, it looks like... However, the training ground is definitely a place where the watchmen trained its seems.
Whatever happened though, the Digivice still wanting to guide them inside... So Tetsu did what he could do... that is, to look at the hut for anything that can help lighting. Once he found something that looked like a torch, he picked it up and dips its cloth in a fuel that happened to be there (of course making sure to not overdips it) Once he lit it, he looked at Nik and nodded, telling him that everything is ready.
Speaking of which, the small hut is equipped with some training dummies, kitchen, and training weapons. Strange as it may, that's what they found. They also found a working faucet with water. It doesn't even smell salty for some reason. There are also more than one torch, should Brad or Nik himself want to do the same. Either way, Tetsu walked inside the cave, his Digivice trilled the entire way in.
It take them about five minutes on foot until they suddenly found a dim light at the end of the tunnel. It takes them another five... when they finally found something akin to a very old civilization. The trilling stopped, as if the Digivice said they has arrived to their destination.

They soon approached a hut. At first it looked somewhat run-down, but as they approached, they soon saw that there was practical things still operable in this place. With that, Nik and Brad agreed that it was worth checking out.
"Well then, let's see what we've got here." Nik said, approaching what was their destination.
Nik and Brad waited for a little while as Tetsu managed to light the torch. Then they entered the building. To their surprise, it had impressive amenities for a building so long abandoned. And furthermore to their curiosity, there seemed to be something else forward, which piqued their curiosity even further.
Nik and Brad followed Tetsu and Gryz even further through the ruin, their digivices trilling, and then, when their digivices stopped, they saw something extraordinary ahead of them.
"So... this is what we've found, eh?" Nik asked, smiling as he looked upon their discovery.

"Let's look around for the meantime," Gryz suggested. There's something eerie about this place but at the same time, this eerieness does not feel malicious. It felt... sad? Melancholic? It felt like something abandoned, left behind, and something here yearned to be found again, to be filled again... Gryz touched the ground as he thought this.
"...The land, it cried, it wept, and its tears has since ran dry, only leaving yearning feeling behind" he muttered.
Tetsu grabbed some materials on the side of the road. "...Salt," he muttered after he smelled it. "It's mixed with snow, and.... well, I guess there is nothing much."
He tried to peer on one of the house's window. Almost all of it are devoid from human activity... dust piled up, and all that... yet he felt something was particularly strange... Curiously, he turned the knob to one of the house. It opened, without any sort of resistance. Tetsu slowly walked inside, followed by Gryz. There, he definitely find something that caught his eyes.
Appliances... but it doesn't looks like it's calibrated for Digimon... not to mention, there are clock that showed Digital World time and human world time... The time stopped around January 28th 2003. Around sixteen years ago? Tetsu let out thoughtful hum.
"...What do you think about this, Nik? Brad?"
