The Literature Club’s room, or as Anna called it, ‘the base of fun-operations’ was a small room on the second floor of the school building. As it barely was a club – as all of the members except Yui had graduated the year before – they weren’t given the largest, plush room in the school, but the two girls had definitely made it homely. Two tables pushed together to create a larger table, occupied the middle of the room, with four chairs around it. Even though they only, currently had four ‘active’ members. A club needed four members to be considered a true club and most of the time, it boiled down to just Yui and Anna. Although, she was quite thankful that the club had not been shut down after graduation last year.
Several bookshelves lined the room, two filled with many old, dusty novel-style books and some school relatable books. While the third, clearly decorated by Anna, was filled with a random assortment of items. A few seashells from their trip down to the beach, a cute plush won at Tanabata, several novels of manga and then other cute keychains, trading cards, and assorted anime merchandise that Anna seemed to be collecting. On the other side of the room was a whiteboard, leftover from when the room was once used as an actual club, with a series of pens underneath used for doodling. Next to it, a hotplate, a kettle and a set of cups and saucers. Albeit, not allowed in the rules of the building nor the club rules but what the teachers didn’t know, wouldn’t hurt them.
A light shone through the open windows with faced them, glaring the room in bright, warming sunshine. At the moment, only Yui had found her way to the club room. Even though the bell had rung, almost half an hour prior. She looked down at her wristwatch and then shook her head, knowing what probably had happened. At least to Anna. She had either got in trouble, again or otherwise was causing some kind of trouble. It was inevitable. “Oh Anna, what am I ever going to do with you.” After all, she was the club’s president now and therefore had to try and keep some kind of rule over the rowdy Anna. But, she was so airheaded and ditsy, it was difficult to get mad at her. “I just hope you’re not doing anything too crazy. Oh, who am I kidding...”
Yui leaned back in her chair and began to tap the desk – waiting in silence – letting the nice breeze carry her off into a nice daydream. A club in which all members assumed their roles without delay, without trouble and such stress on herself. “That’d be nice,” she muttered to herself, tapping harder. Before standing, abruptly to grab a book from the shelf. It was a novel about two kids who found themselves trapped in a mine and how they survived and were evidently rescued. Although, she hadn’t got that far yet. Yui looked down at the book, concentrating on the words hard – trying with all her might to ignore that sinking feeling in her stomach which indicated that something was going to go wrong, very soon.
