Law Enforcers [DATS Plot Case]

Post by Cion on Mar 24, 2019 21:22:33 GMT
A bombardier and electromaniac who had fled the law of Terminus after causing untold collateral damage to an industrial estate... and its preferred hiding spot was the human world of all places. If only the circumstances of another dimension and mankind's xenophobia were enough to dissuade the vandal from generating additional havoc. Alas, the wicked and frenzied were seldom convinced by logic, not even when it came to self-preservation.
Earth was a dangerous and unknown place to most digimons, especially hostile ones with decent people such as the cherished members of AEGIS around. However, fair-minded individuals, mainly Cion tonight, had to linger in the shadows as well, lest she wished to spawn a commotion of panic and fear. Ultimately, she was aware of the initial encounters between the two species and the destruction and loss Shibuya and its inhabitants had suffered, in spite of her personal absence. Naturally, it was a tragedy, hence the vulpine visionary sought to prevent one more debacle to come.
Unfortunately, her target, a Thundermon, was clearly outperforming itself. Despite the sun almost setting, granting the Rookie Arnamon who bore nothing except her short, green scarf, cover in dim light, electrically driven systems such as street-lamps did not operate properly. The reasons for this, particularly the unpleasant stench of fried cables and other synthetic components, were obvious.
Bearing her small canines, the silver, bipedal fennec lingered on a jet-black stain of burnt dirt to investigate it. Thankful that many travelers had apparently vacated the incredibly spacious park due to being witness of what they likely perceived as acts of terrorism, she quietly yet swiftly followed the accidental trail the vandalic mutant left in its wake. It was a shame that higher forms were not usable, but discretion was a maxim in this mission. The sooner she left this plain of existence the better for everyone.
Eventually arriving at a location that was probably utilized for picnics, the tiny fox hopped onto a wooden table and familiarized herself with her surroundings. Narrowing her aureate eyes, Cion noticed that the nearby public lighting was the last one to have been destroyed. Every other man-made piece of technology still functioned adequately, including the proximate grandstand. Odd... was that mechanical fiend not interested in this potential heaven of demolition?
Folding her arms, she took in a deep breath and halted for a moment. Perhaps her prey was bound to reveal its presence soon. "Should have informed Colin and Sophie, but no... I just had to be querulent again. Well... at least the view is calming..."

Another day, another digimon sighting. This time, reports were coming in about a small, flying, fast object speeding around Shibuya, but the technology of DATS soon identified it as a digimon. And not just a run-of-the-mill Rookie, but a Champion level one, which was most serious.
Again, Agent Tiger felt like this was probably a job for AEGIS to handle, but, alas, as DATS agents, they needed experience on the field too. Plus, unconfirmed reports were coming in of a second digimon around the area as well.
Curiously enough, reports were stating that the sighting was in Miyashita Park. "Maybe we should put up some permanent cameras around here, eh, Jiro?" Agent Tiger said to her partner, the Dracomon-X alert and ready, but being currently stored within her iC model digivice.
"Well, at least it's one of the least crowded areas of Shibuya..." Jiro responded in return. Tiger made an amused noise to affirm this as a fact. Mind, it would be problematic if the digimon kept showing up here. She hoped to make an example of them that even if they did run to the park and hide out, they would still be caught and returned home.
"Let's see what the digivice says..." Tiger said, and held her jade digivice in her hand, switching to the radar function. Indeed, she could detect two digimon nearby. Now with purpose, the DATS agent proceeded toward them, eyes on alert from behind her sunglasses, although soon she would have to remove them. In the sunset, things were beginning to get rather dim.

For a moment Cion perceived as rather long, dead silence lingered within the Miyashita Park. Not even a single breeze caused the local, multicolored flora to chime in with their perpetual hymn of nature. It was quiet, and though it was comical to think, too much so. That was until the eloper finally decided to reveal his truly outstanding magnum opus. It was nothing short of a perfect allegory of absolute, mindless ruination.
In a brief, blinding flash of chartreuse electricity, the right side of the open grandstand was suddenly covered in bursts of energy and smolders of static cinder that floated in the air like macroscopic crystals. Forced to cover her eyes and unable to savor their treacherous radiance, the Arnamon bore her teeth as a massive shockwave tore past her body, sending her copious amounts of fur and her green scarf in a frenzy of rapid movement. At least the power had not sufficed to cause any collateral damage, except to the tribune itself which was immediately bereft of half of itself.
Unfortunately, the big bang echoing throughout the parkway penetrated her ears, imposing an unpleasant tinnitus upon her. Bearing her canines, the vulpine sentinel nodded and swiftly hustled to the location of interest. Abruptly coming to a stop, she watched the maniacal, puerile Thundermon getting the giggles ontop of a scorched piece of remaining girder. Tiling her head upwards, Cion narrowed her aureate gaze, granting the mutant the full sway of her reprobative glare.
"What is the matter with you, vandal? Cease this havoc at once, or this will get grave. The officials of Terminus don't care how I deal with you, so we can do this the easy or hard way." She implicitly yet verbosely threatened the Champion of the Metal Empire. Naturally, her words of patience and goodwill met the deaf ears of the fiend, as they had done with millions of others. Her target was apparently busy... gallivanting with its own high-handedness. Typical...

When the thunderbolt boomed across the park, Tiger was immediately drawn to full attention. The digimon seemed to be making attacks! She raised a camera-like instrument to her eyes, zooming in on the source, and to her horror, she saw the digimon. A Thundermon, Champion level. Very dangerous. Especially in that it seemed to be attacking indiscriminately. This was a serious situation. At once, Agent Tiger spoke through a communicator.
"Tiger to HQ. Level 2 alert in Miyashita Park. Aggressive Champion level sighted. Thundermon. Second digimon of unknown level also in the area. Please advise".
"Acknowledged, Tiger. Evacuate area of civilians and engage. Shoot to destroy if necessary. Once free of civilians, permission to evolve your partner to Champion granted. Keep it clean, keep me informed. Also let me know the status of the second digimon." her commander's voice responded through the communicator.
"Copy, HQ." Tiger said, then immediately raised her voice. "Everyone not involved in this, get out of here! Evacuate at once. This is the order of the Japanese government! We will have this situation under control!"
To prove her point, she raised her digivice. "Jiro, Realize" she said, and in a flash of light, the Dracomon-X materialized. Fortunately the few people present here in the park by now knew not to get involved when monsters appeared, so many ran from the scene. Some of the braver ones still lingered to watch.
As Tiger and Jiro approached, they noted the second digimon. Unlike the Thundermon, the little lavender-grey furred beast digimon seemed to be capable of speech at least. She mentioned something about the officials of Terminus. Thus, the DATS agent and her partner assumed that the second digimon seemed to be law enforcement from the digital world, chasing down a fugitive. At least that was what they hoped.
"You there... is this guy your problem?" Tiger asked, a little brisk and urgent. She would rather know the full details of the situation before bringing down her authority on this situation - given that Jiro evolving to champion this soon would be undesirable. If so, that would be just dandy. The DATS agent would rather have at least one of the two unknown digimon on her side.

Naturally, Cion had marginal awareness of the events happening that did not directly involve her, her target and her task at hand. Certainly she knew of organizations such as AEGIS and DATS intervening in times of crisis, but neither was she informed about their protocols nor when they would actually interfere in affairs.
Seldom was the fine lady ignorant to these kinds of incredibly relevant facts, but the truth was that she had little interest in lingering in this realm of reality humans usually referred to as their universe. Not out of personal animosity towards mankind, perish the thought... no, it was her intention to preserve peace-keeping. Besides, she already had her own dimension to worry for and eternally foster each and every day of her existence.
Still, almost as if it was ready on call, the situation she had to properly deal with had gotten increasingly complicated. Regardless, as a true professional and gentlewoman, she understood how to carry herself and hopefully attain favorable results. Remaining calm and composed, the small fox turned to the stalwart madame and her clearly brawny, draconic partner. Were they agents of the aforementioned teams? Probable, but no direct answer to this implicit question was given.
"Not mine directly, but Terminus' and this park's, Ma'am." The unassuming Rookie answered as ineloquent and plain-spoken as the female digidestined had done. However, that did not mean that she silver fennec did not at least attempt to initiate pleasantries while the Thundermon remained busy savoring its maniacal fit of laughter upon the halfway ruined grandstand.
"My name is Cion. Pleased to meet the both of you. May I assume your assistance dealing with this vandal?" She kindly introduced herself with a gentle bow before discreetly requesting aid. After all, woman probably had the best chances to utilize the environment against the fiendish rascal.

Agent Tiger was pleased that at least one of the digimon was being courteous here. While it was DATS doctrine that no digimon whatsoever were permitted to walk on Earth, the woman felt like civilized ones were better to have as allies than wild ones like the Thundermon.
"Okay, so I assume you're law enforcement from the digital world then?" she continued. Jiro meanwhile kept his eyes locked on Thundermon, ready to defend at once. He would let his partner do the talking here.
"My name is Agent Tiger of DATS" she said. "Nice to meet you too, Cion. And yes, my job here is to send that digimon back to the digital world, voluntarily or involuntarily."
Since fighting hadn't yet broken out, and while civilians were still evacuating as ordered, the DATS agent would try and get as much situational information out of Cion as possible.
"So then, what are the circumstances here?" Tiger asked the small beast digimon. "I take it that this Thundermon is a fugitive? Can you please tell me, if you can, what happened on the way here and what his intentions are?"
As she waited for Cion to reply, the woman would excuse herself for a moment before speaking into her communicator. "Agent Tiger here. Second digimon on the scene is docile and willing to ally with us against Thundermon, I'm currently speaking with her. Over."
"Acknowledged, Tiger. Work with her as you see fit, just take down the wild one. Over." came her commander's reply. And she would aim to do just that.

"More of a mercenary in this case for I am not directly tied to Terminus' government, but yes - per official proxy." Cion answered calmly and without beating around the bush, hoping that this revelation did not alter their potential alliance for the matter at hand. In the end, there was nothing wrong to being independent in her point of view, but certain law-abiding individuals had a tendency to frown upon sellswords. Not that the silver fennec was an opportunistic self-seeker, but impressions born from stereotypes were difficult to overcome. Hopefully, her ladylike grace sufficed to present an image of earnest commitment to commonweal.
Acknowledging the civil servant's name, the Arnamon nodded firmly and was delighted by the madame's professional mannerisms. From her experience, it was a rarity to encounter humans with such eloquent behavior, making this occasion quite delightful. If only circumstances allowed them a moment of tranquility. Alas, it was often that bonds were initiated when facing a fiend - or a mere vandal today. "And my job is to thwart the Thundermon. My modus operandi is, as long as I succeed, merely of minor importance. Hence, to facilitate cooperation and peace, I gladly adapt to yours, agent Tiger."
Folding her arms, the small fox's aureate eyes swayed to the synthetic mutant, who, to her dismay, slowly began to regain its composure. Not much longer and perhaps it would relinquish its frenzy and recognize them as a threat. What would this lead to? A battle maybe, or a hot pursuit. Ultimately, it probably was of no concern, but the inhibited ascendant favored efficiency over a wild-goose chase. "I doubt it will oblige us to return to the digital world voluntarily." She added, confident that the maniac preferred helpless victims and their precious property as a toy.
Asked for additional information, Cion shifted her attention back to the stylish woman. Reviewing everything she knew for a second or two, the vulpine sentinel willingly shared it all with the official of DATS. "It's a bombardier and electromaniac who had fled the law of Terminus after causing untold collateral damage to an industrial estate. I am sure that the ruined grandstand and broken street-lamps of this lovely park speak for themselves as proof to my claims. If not, I have a contract. As for its impetus... I assume a reckless craving for amusement." She once again explained as best as she could, speaking with patience and focus.
Excusing the lady for her conversation, the Arnamon briefly beheld the brawny, empowered Dracmon. She did not have much of an idea why some digimons decided to dedicate their existence entirely to mankind, but if it was a becoming aspiration to the cyan reptile then she did not judge him for this. Still, a hint of curiosity manifested itself within her core and on her mien. Was this lad a powerful specialist or a raucous galoot? Solely time would tell.

Tiger acknowledged Cion's answer with a nod. Yes, she was aware that the governing body of the digital world was rather less stringent than it was on Earth, but the fact that Cion was talking to her with courtesy while Thundermon seemed to be itching to cause chaos said enough to her without words.
Furthermore, she and Jiro were glad when Cion agreed to cooperation. With that agreement done, Tiger would pay her all the dues required for an ally in combat, she would then attempt to give what information she could. "Alright then, Cion. I'm about to evolve Jiro to his Champion level. His form will be a Coredramon, specializing in flight and fire attacks. We won't have much time, but, hopefully this information will help you work with us."
With that, Agent Tiger would draw her modified digivice. A strange teal energy glowed around her. Then she cried "Digisoul... Charge!", and raised the device over her partner.
Ordinarily he would have cried "Dracomon digivolve to...!" but, long ago he found that to be a counterproductive thing to do, so the dragon digimon remained silent as he transformed, turning from a 1m tall Dracomon to a 3m tall Coredramon. Ordinarily, Agent Tiger would have been reluctant to evolve him in public like this, but, her orders were clear.
She listened further to Cion's explanation. Tiger was glad to hear that this digimon only seemed to intend mischief rather than more severe crimes, but still, she wouldn't be satisfied until he was safely back in the digital world.
"Alright, Jiro, let's do this by the book. See what he has to throw at us. Just aim a good slash!" Tiger ordered, and Jiro would do so. If one paid attention, one would note that Tiger and Jiro had a rather cautious battle style. Jiro would aim a strike, yes, but, if any counter-attack was launched, he would cancel off his strike and fall back.
Tiger digivolves Jiro to Coredramon (Blue).
Jiro uses a basic claw attack against Thundermon, but is prepared to break it off to evade if Thundermon counter-attacks.

Announcing a digivioltuon, especially to an ally - such a strange deed to perform. Usually, digimons simply did it, was it by themselves or by proxy through their partners. Not even Cion had been so courteous to her enemies and companions as to announce whenever she unleashed her potential. Not that she was currently capable of doing so, but this bizarre sentiment still brought an impish grim on her lips, from which also departed a quiet chuckle. However, this joy quickly faded upon becoming witness of something certainly intriguing.
Throughout her eons of existence, she had never encountered a mechanism called 'Digisoul'. The silver fennec gladly admitted that she was not erudite, instead relying on healthy wisdom and pragmatic finesse to overcome obstacles, but this term was truly alien to her. Did any of her missed friends and comrades knew of this? Quietly and with wide eyes, the small fox observed as Jiro transformed, which was reminiscent of common ascendance. The final result was nothing spectacular, a mere Coredramon in appearance, but perhaps it possessed unique abilities? Only time could tell.
Blinking, the vulpine sentinel calmly and silently tracked the Champion's movements who aimed to subdue the Thundermon without utilizing lethal force. As to be expected, this last act of defiance aggravated the mechanical mutant and forced it out of its frenzy. "Play time!" It bellowed with a weird hint of maniacal amusement to its partially synthetic voice. "Thunder Bomber!" Conjuring two bombs of raw electricity in its hands, it soared a few meters upwards and tossed them at the draconic warrior.
If not it, then by chance its impudent, tiny buddies on the ground would attain the delectable scent of burnt toast. “There we go again...”

The nature of digisoul was something that the DATS agent was not prepared to share at this point. It was a heavily classified secret only open to the highest ranked members of DATS, and thus she would not reveal anything other than its apparent function to others.
As Jiro then flew toward the target, the Thundermon launched an attack back at him. Jiro had been expecting this, so he broke off his attack to do his best to evade the blasts of lightning. They flew past him and erupted on the ground in the park. Agent Tiger gave a gasp at their impact, but Jiro was ready to follow up his original strike.
"Mana Breath!" he roared after inhaling, then breathed forth a jet of green fire directly at Thundermon. Not a direct attack quite yet, but an attack that would weaken him for a time, enough for both him and Cion to get a measure on his power before subduing him.
"Cion, if you have any abilities that can help us, please, use them!" Tiger asked their perceived ally. She recognized that they had to end this fight quickly.
Mana Breath - Jiro breathes a jet of a glowing magical green aura that saps the strength of the opponent and all standing within 10 meters of the target. When afflicted, their attacks deal only half damage for 2 turns. [Cooldown: 2 turns]

So much for the chances of the two bombs striking Cion and madame Tiger. Anything more than a quiet yelp from the female human they did not achieve. Harrumphing condescendingly, the silver fennec carefully and cautiously beheld Jiro proceeding with his onset. Unleashing a verdant miasma through his maw, the hostile Thundermon was briefly engulfed by it. Coughing, it noticed its systems being debilitated, yet it did not suffer a shred of damage. "Poison? Bah! Slow and boring! Fun is rapid!" It exclaimed angrily before dashing out of the toxic mist.
Hovering in the air, chartreuse electricity manifested itself around his gloves. With the synthetic mutant enshrouded in sparks of raw energy, he pointed an index finger at the draconic warrior. "Thunder Volt!" It bellowed it its vandalic frenzy, enjoying the idea of shooting a moving target out of the sky, even if the little ne'er-do-well was not stationary on the ground. Still, it hoped that the fast levin would show the big grinch who was the boss of all smashing.
The tiny fox meanwhile shifted her aureate eyes to the womanlike agent of DATS. As to be expected, joining forces in this clash was recommended, but there remained the preference to not cause an incident. "In my current form, I am no match to a Champion, and my support abilities are extremely limited - nearly ineffectual even. How far may I digivolve without inducing felony of any kind, ma'am?" She asked hastily, keeping her guard and a few meters of distance to the gentlewoman as to not be a sitting duck for the vandal's area-of-effect attacks.

Jiro took the lightning attack with a wince, but little more. As a tough dragon digimon, it'd take more than one strike to bring him from the sky, especially with the strike being weakened by his magical breath attack from earlier. Still, he felt a stinging pain on his white belly where it struck.
Agent Tiger meanwhile listened to Cion, mulling over the question. "If you can evolve to Champion, that'd be great." she responded. She didn't want the possibility of Ultimate level to be considered at this moment, that would only happen if Thundermon was too much for them to handle.
Following that, she turned to her partner, speaking through a comm device on the side of her head that allowed them to speak even at distances. "Finish him quickly, Jiro. Close and attack, be mindful of your surroundings." she ordered.
"On it." Jiro replied, then flew straight at Thundermon, his tail glowing blue, then swung about rapidly, aiming to smash Thundermon down to the ground.
He would have used fire, but, not in a built up area like this, unless the need arose though.
Jiro is struck by Thunder Volt, but damage is halved due to Mana Breath.

Naturally, the frenzied electromancer was not too pleased that the drake had endured its lightning so easily. Even if the poison inhibited its power, that had been a direct hit! It should have at least done something! "Barg... why you?!" The Thundermon hissed before preparing itself for the onslaught of melee attacks by Jiro. Left, right, back and forth, it dashed multiple times to evade the tail strikes. Some of them were barely in reach, while others narrowly grazed the mutant's round frame. If nothing else, this hightened pace was far more entertaining than previous miasma.
"Powerful Punch!" The unassuming Champion bellowed the name of its next ability. And as unimaginative as it was, so was the move itself. Chartreuse energies manifested themselves yet again around the little vandal, but this time centered on his fists. After suffering the big, stiff end of the Dracmon-X, the moment for payback had come. Lunging forward, all the maniac of data sought was to give his most recent adversary the definition of 'One Punch Man'. Unfortunately, it was nowhere near as stylish as a certain, bald character from a popular manga parody.
Cion meanwhile smirked and nodded upon hearing the response of agent Tiger. "Of course I can dear. It's been quite some time, but I doubt that I have gotten rusty." The silver fennec responded kindly, which was followed by a kittenish chuckle. It was abruptly that white radiance engulfed her. Disappearing as swiftly as it came, the vulpine sentinel was now as tall as a common human, though her animalistic yet ladylike grace had not yielded in the slightest. "Gosh... almost like a nostalgia trip." She quipped mostly to herself until her aureate gaze shifted to the clash in the sky.
"Okay... careful..." The Sagitamon uttered as she aimed at the mad criminal. However, she did not do so with her bow, but with a single finger. Eyes narrowed, focusing her target, who obviously was their shared enemy. "Gotcha!" She exclaimed as a vortex of incandescent light suddenly came into being. Snaring the Thundermon for a few seconds, its movement were evidently hampered severely. It was a given that this was the perfect opportunity to impose great damage upon the insufferable rascal. Thankfully, the translucent trap did not affected her temporary partner.

Jiro was in pain, but he didn't let it show as he closed in to engage Thundermon. He knew that the renegade digimon would be hard to hit, as he was small and fast, but he knew that every hit would count, and furthermore, engaging him close-quarter would reduce possible damage to others.
Ultimately, it left him wide-open to a counter-attack. Jiro took the punch hard, the Coredramon flinching, but not enough to knock him out of the sky.
Agent Tiger meanwhile raised an eyebrow behind her sunglasses as Cion referred to her as "dear", but she wasn't in the mood to discuss such semantics right now. She had her orders to coordinate with this digimon, so she'd do so, and accept any help she could.
Cion then evolved to Champion, which made both Tiger and Jiro glad. And at once she joined the battle with a powerful attack, managing to suspend Thundermon in place. At once, both Tiger and Jiro knew what the next move should be, but both seemed reluctant to carry it out. Thundermon was an aggressive rogue digimon that seemed intent on attacking others. He had no place on Earth, so the only option was to go all-out.
"Jiro..." Tiger called to her partner. "Execute G-Shurunen. From directly below." That way he'd fire toward the sky.
The Coredramon obeyed, landing on the ground from where Thundermon was trapped. From here, he curled his tail so that it pressed upon a scale upon his back, directly between his wings. The effect of this was that his eyes and mouth glowed gold, then at once, he roared, and a golden beam shot directly at Thundermon, the effect of which would deal massive damage to him.
Hopefully this would be the end of this. So far, Cion was a valuable ally, and if this strategy was successful, Tiger and Jiro would be grateful.
Jiro is struck by Powerful Punch.
Jiro uses G-Shurunen II on Thundermon, powered up by Reverse Scale.
Combat Passive: Reverse Scale - If a scale on Jiro's back is touched, it triggers him to burst into a rage which lasts 1 turn. The only attack he can use on the next turn is basic attacks or G-Shurunen II, which are boosted in power by double. He can touch the scale with his own tail if need be. [Cooldown: 1 turn]
G-Shurunen II - Jiro roars, then fires an immense golden beam from his mouth. Can pierce through defenses and barriers up to the Ultimate level. [Cooldown: 2 turns]

Though the levels of power currently at display where minuscule compared to the many clashes of titans she had been a witness of and participant in, Cion still cringed slightly upon beholding the Thundermon's mighty strike hitting the Dracmon-X. It was never pleasant to behold an ally suffering a direct blow like that, but thankfully the drace was quite a sturdy lad. Dauntlessly, he remained in air and channeled all of his might. Utilizing the trap on their enemy imposed by the vulpine sentinel, the following blast from the agent's partner was relatively devastating - and the grand finale to end this farce.
Unable to move, the frenzied maniac yelled in frustration, but the screams swiftly turned into yelps of pain as it suffered the full force of Jiro's ultimate ability. And as radiant sparks and shock waves ceased, the utterly battered mutant fell from the sky. Although the grass beneath it was soft, the landing was most likely far from enjoyable. Fortunately, this was not of their concern for two reasons. The first one, obviously, was that showing such sympathy to a vandal was unbecoming. The other was that the Thundermon was unconscious anyway.
Briefly gazing at the smoldering pile of pitifulness, the Sagitamon sighed and allowed her crystalline bow to dematerialize. Stretching herself, she approached Tiger's companion and gently tapped his shoulder. "Bracing Repose." She spoke calmly, almost in hushed whispers. In the very same instance, white streams of soothing data and binary code engulfed its wounds, partially mending them and dulling possible pangs the dragon had endured. "Quick and effective - impressive." Cion commented with a steady, rapt smile as ladylike grace and cheer mixed in the tone of her voice.
Taking in a deep breath, the humanoid fennec strode a few steps back and nodded confidently. Slowly yet steadily, the dusk's orange began to engulf the entirety of the Miyashita Park, including the three defenders of law and justice. "I take it you are not in favor for acquaintanceships and banter, madame and meyser?" She asked in a nearly rhetorical way. Well-mannered tongue-in-cheek was probably an adequate way to describe it. Given their status as professional enforcers, amity was likely not their priority.
Despite the criminal being out of commission, the possibility that the officers of DATS would just transport her to the closest exit was highly probable. Huh... it presumably was for the best anyway.
