Now was finally the time. The situation with the village's bandit had been dealt with, and now Hawkeye had a new responsibility: make sure that the human girl, Kaya, gets to Terminus City and onto a Trailmon home... safely. The light-blonde child and the Hawkmon stood in front of the entrance to the Server Woods, nearly ready to depart.
"I really do want to thank you for doing this for me, Hawkeye," The twelve-year-old thanked the Hawkmon as they finalized their preparations. Hawkeye had a bunch of arrows on him, as well as a pack full of food and survival necessities, while Kaya carried some extra arrows and food as well.
"Yeah... it's fine," Hawkeye emotionlessly replied as he finished up packing. "If I'm being honest, I just do not want to be responsible for the death of a human girl. I do have a conscience."
"Uh... ooohkay then," Kaya says, looking away as she is feeling very uncomfortable around Hawkeye now. "How long is this trip supposed to be, did you say?"
"If we follow my map, it shouldn't take more than a few days. We have enough food for a week, plus we can buy more. Are you ready?"
Afternoon broke, warm and bright, the orange rays of the sun still shining in the blue sky.
A hooded Spadamon stirred in his sleep, laying on one of the lush green hills of the area. He had been sleeping for a few hours, giving in to the draw of slumber due to being out in the wilderness for so long. He groaned as he felt the sunlight on his face die to a gush of wind forcing his hood up. "Urrgh, five more minutes." he muttered. It felt like he'd only fallen asleep ten minutes ago. He perked one eye open, staring into the sky littered with puffy clouds. Putting his hood over his face, he contemplated whether to force himself up as his levels of consciousness slowly increased.
Giving a loud yawn, he stretched his arms as far as he could, managing to slouch up as a result. He'd almost forgotten what it was like to sleep outside -- with no bed, no blanket, no roof over his head -- that's what happens with you when you get used to living in a city of luxury high above the clouds. The Spadamon then got on all fours to do some more stretching, before finally standing up, smacking his mouth to get that weird taste out that everyone usually wakes up with.
"Looking good, Kitt." he said to himself, ruffling his mane. He could tell by just feeling it that it was a frightful mess. He then started to groom himself with his tongue, making sure he looked at least presentable; he cared about his appearance more than the regular Digimon. After that, he sat down on the ground, closed his eyes and started to meditate, something he has been slacking off.

"Alright, off we go," Kaya happily announced, beginning to march in a completely random direction, before Hawkeye stopped her by grabbing her leg. "What? Do you still have to do something before we leave?"
"No," Hawkeye replied, shaking his head before pointing in another direction. "That's the way to Terminus City. Your sense of direction is remarkably horrible."
In response to this, Kaya crossed her arms and made a "hmph" sound. "Well that's what happens when you're trapped in a world you don't know! You'd react the exact same way if you were trying to navigate Tokyo."
Hawkeye rolled his eyes as the two of them started on their journey. And I'm stuck with this ojama. Just fantastic. About ten minutes after they began walking, a question popped into Hawkeye's head. "Er... Kaya? How did you get to our village in the first place, may I ask?"
"To be honest... I don't have a clue," Kaya admitted. "I was walking home from school when some jerk on a bike pushed me out of the way, into the Shibuya River. When I came to... I was in your village."
"What is a 'bike'?"
Before Kaya could answer, she spotted something among the grassy plains that was definitely not green. It looked a lot like a white-furred cat wearing a blue hoodie. Of course Kaya loved cats, so she wanted to meet him. With great confidence, she walked right up to the cat-like Digimon. "Hi there!"
What is she doing?! Hawkeye thought. That is a very dumb thing to do out here!
Some think that the purpose of meditation is to stop the mind. They sit, and then try. Soon they get into a fight with their mind, a fight that they lose. Frustrated, they give up. But to Kitt, it was more about calming the mind rather than cease thinking all together.
Calming the mind is a more appropriate goal, and a good way to do it is by paying attention to the breath. He maintained it as his abdomen rise and fall with each deep breath. As he focused on that, he started to feel more in touch with the environment around him. Not just the grass he was sitting on, but the wind blowing across him; his mane following its direction, water softly traveling at a nearby stream, going in an seamless endless direction, and the leaves on the trees blowing in conjunction to the wind. So much life. Trees and flowers... There’s no deeper peace than being in touch with nature.
Suddenly, his ears twitched, hearing movement in front of him. Thinking it was just traveling Digimon, Kitt heeded no mind to it;He couldn’t sense any malicious feelings. Hearing a soft voice greeting him, he slowly began to open his eyes. Who he saw in front of him made him a little on edge: it was a human, not just any human, but a human girl. He yelp in surprise, running across the other side of the hill. He’d only hear stories of humans throughout his previous travels, he’d never seen one up close before. We’re they mean, cruel, vicious? Those thoughts kept circling his mind as he slowly started to peak at her. Next to her was a Hawkmon. Why would a Digimon be next to a human? Don’t they know she might be dangerous?
“W-W-W-Who are you?” he said frantically, his voice audibly shaken. If Eris was hear, she would know what to do...

Kaya wasn't sure what she was expecting when greeting the white-furred Digimon, but Kitt's reaction definitely wasn't it. As soon as he layed eyes on the human, he yelped and scooted back a few feet, obviously terrified by the Kaya. Her eyes went anime-white at this reaction as she sweat dropped. "Um... are you okay?"
"Kaya, if you keep going on like this the trip will take weeks," Hawkeye grumbled at her as he walked to her side, ready to grab her leg and pull her away. He got a quick glance at the Digimon that Kaya had walked up to, and he stopped in his tracks. It was a Spadamon, and he looked absolutely terrified, almost like the look of his fellow villagers whenever there was an attack. Had he never seen a human before? "...stand down, Spadamon. She's only a child, you're more of a threat to her than the other way around."
Although Hawkeye just wanted to keep going, Kaya wanted to console and calm this poor... Spadamon, did he say? As carefully and calmly as she could, the girl slowly walked up to the Spadamon and knelt down, giving Kitt a nice smile. "My name's Kaya. Do you have a name?"
Kitt didn't respond to the human girl, only nervously flickering his gaze between the girl and the grass. The Hawkmon's comment also fell on deaf ears. This was one of the many instances where he didn't know what to do in a situation. He could run away, but his body was shaking so much that he couldn't even muster the strength to do so. Instead, he curled up into a large feline ball, still making frantic noises.
Hearing the human slowly approach him, he could only wince in response, preparing for the worse. The human introduced herself as Kaya. Despite the softness in her voice, it proved enough to break the Spadamon from his curl position. Slowly looking up, he stared at her with a mixture of fear and awe. His mind was still racing, on one half he didn't know what she'll do to him. But on the other, her smile slowly started to ease him, with all the fears slowly dwindling like embers in a fire.
"...Kitt..." he mummered his name that he was reluctant to say. He sat up slowly, fiddling uncertainty. "You're a human, right?" Glancing at the Hawkmon, he could tell that the bird Digimon was all serious; he was not someone to mess with.

Kaya could tell that he was scaring the little Spadamon. She tried to be friendly, but nonetheless he curled up into a ball and started breathing heavily. The twelve year old began to frown as he did this, wanting desperately for this little guy to not be scared of her. Still, she introduced herself anyways and just hoped for the best.
It seemed to work at least a little bit, as the Spadamon got out of his curled position. He still looked pretty afraid though, although he seemed at least a little bit less afraid than before. Hawkeye was amazed at how the white furred Digimon's reaction was changing due to Kaya's actions. It's like she has some kind of soothing kind of ability...
The Spadamon did reveal his name, which was Kitt, although he seemed a bit reluctant to say it. "Kitt, did you say? That's a really nice name," Kaya said, "and yes, I am a human... which I guess makes me an outsider in this place, huh?"
Kitt still didn't seem to fully trust either Kaya or Hawkeye. To remedy this, Kaya got out her backpack and rummaged through it. Eventually she took out what seemed to be some kind of rectangle-shaped red box. She opened it up, revealing the contents to be long pretzel sticks dipped in something brown. "Do you want some? It's really good!"
Kitt would perch up as Kaya complimented his name, his tail slightly swooshing against the blades of grass. For some reason it surprised him, and he didn't know why. Maybe it was because it was the first compliment he's ever heard from a human, and this was his first. "T-thank you." he said, his face turning slightly red in embarrassment. "I mean...I guess..." There was something about this human that reminded him of Eris for some reason-- her sweet, gentle nature was one of the things.
He would then watch curiously as the human went into her backpack. Even though she was nice, Kitt still kept his guard up nonetheless, keeping a tab where his weapon was at underneath his cloak just in case if it was all a trap and the human was planning to attack him. A few seconds later, Kaya then brought out a box-shaped container. She opened it, revealing what seemed to be food.
Looking at her and the food with a cautious look, he would be hesitant about accepting, reaching his hand out, then retreating it a few times. Finally, he took the stick food, sniffing it. It had a sweet aroma to it, and whatever it was dipped in made it smelled ever sweeter. "What kind of food is this?" he asked, his head tilting in a somewhat cute manner.

As Kaya was browsing her backpack looking for the box, Hawkeye kept a close eye on Kitt. He still didn't trust the Spadamon, as they did just meet. So when he noticed Kitt reaching for something within his cloak, Hawkeye assumed that it was indeed a weapon. He glared at Kitt as he reached for an arrow in the same fashion.
Of course he stopped as soon as Kaya looked back up, acting as if he was doing nothing. The human girl held the box of Pocky out for Kitt so that he could take one. At first Kitt seemed confused more than anything, since he never really saw food like this before. He observed the stick for a bit and asked what kind of food it was, tilting his head as he did so.
After mentally getting over how adorable Kaya thought Kitt looked at that moment, she took the time to explain it to him. "They're crunchy biscuits covered in chocolate. It's really good, try it!"
"Kaya, I do hate to bother but we have to get to Terminus. You do want to go home, correct?"
“Crunchy biscuits, huh...”Kitt murmured to himself, closely looking at the food again. Despite still being suspicious, he wasn’t going to turn down something that’s been offered to him; it’s rude. He still have manners after all. Sniffing at it one more time, he took a bite of the part covered in chocolate. His expression was as one might have expect when trying out new food for the first time—a mixture of surprise and excitement. He had never tasted a snack like this before! The flavor was so good in fact, that it made the shy Spadamon get up and start jumping on one foot then the other, something he had a habit of doing. “Iht'sh so gud!"
Finishing the morsel, he gazed at the red box again, before looking up to Kaya. “Can I have another one if it’s alright with you?”he asked as he gave her a soft smile. If she said yes, he would nibble on another biscuit stick for a few moments, then turned his head and looked at the Hawkmon with a tilted eyebrow and slightly narrowed gold eyes. Apparently, it seems he was accompanying her to take her home, her world definitely, by reaching Terminus City He’d listened with keen interest. He’d never been to Terminus before, only seeing brochures of the place.
“Terminus City? I’ve never been there before!” he chripped, “I could help you guys get there.”
Then Kitt realized that they probably might want to go by themselves. Prehaps this might be the reasons why the Hawkmon wanted to leave as soon as possible? Kitt thought out of politeness he'd best inquire if that something like that was alright. “O-only if you’re ok with that. If not then it’s alright, I won’t bother you any further.”

Kaya and Hawkeye were both surprised when they saw the Spadamon's reaction to the human world snack. He had presented himself to be fairly shy and reserved, but after taking a bite of the tasty chocolate biscuit snack he was now jumping for joy. Hawkeye rolled his eyes towards this behavior while Kaya embraced it, laughing and smiling. "I know, right?! Nothing beats chocolate."
Kitt then asked Kaya if he could have another piece of Pocky. Kaya shrugged and happily handed the whole box over to Kitt. "I can always buy more some other day. Go on, have it," Kaya said with a smile.
"Are you sure it's a good idea to just be giving away our food like that?" Hawkeye asked. "Because we do only have a few day's worth, and I doubt you'd want to hunt at all." Hawkeye noticed Kitt looking at him right in the eyes. The avian archer squinted his own eyes as he looked at Kitt, giving off a pretty clear sign that he did not like the Spadamon.
Kitt had been listening when Hawkeye had brought up Terminus City, saying he had never been there before and could help the two get there. "If you've never been, how can you possibly help us get there? If anything you'll just be dead weight."
"Come on Hawkeye, he's adorable," Kaya pleaded to the Hawkmon. "It might help if we have another fighter along with us, right? You never know what kind of angry Digimon will come out and attack us on the way. You can fight, right Kitt?"
At first Kitt felt a rush of joy when Kaya handed the whole box of biscuits to him. They were the best treat he ever had, probably in his whole life! If this one food was that delicious, he couldn't even process the kind of food that was from her world.
His moment of joy however ended just as it began when the Hawkmon named Hawkeye questioned how he could help them get there in a cold manner, even calling him dead weight. "Oh..." Kitt murmured. He lowered his head down, his being shadowed by his head armor. It seemed that no mattered where he go, the unfriendliness was reciprocated. Figures. This is what he gets for slowly opening up to strangers.
Nonetheless, he respected the Hawkmon wishes since it was clear didn't want him to come along. Before he could make his leave however, Kaya rushed to his defense, saying that he could be useful ally if there are any bad Digimon out and about. Kitt glanced up to her when she question if he can fight, in which he slightly nodded.
"Mhm-hm," Kitt replied. "I don't like fighting to be perfectly honest. I only resort to it if there's no option for a diplomatic solution or if innocent's about to get hurt by someone bad. But...if I do have to fight, I use this..." He reached into the inside of his coat and took out what appeared to be a hilt with a disk around it. With the push of a button, two curved blades materiazed out of data from both sides of the hilt. It was a double-bladed sword, which had an ornately etched base. Each blade had two exhaust pipes running along the edge. "Ta-da..." He turned his head, his face turning a bit red not knowing their reactions would be.

Kaya smiled when she saw Kitt accept the box of Pocky she handed to him. He really seemed to love human world food, if his reactions were any proof of that at all. "There's more food like that where I come from. Pocky isn't really that good for you but we have other stuff like sushi and pizza! You'd love it!"
Hawkeye was not impressed by Kitt so far, and went as far as to call him nothing more than dead weight. The white cat Digimon then lowered his head, looking very upset. And Kaya was upset too because of this. Who did Hawkeye think he was, just insulting a Digimon like that?! "Hawkeye, that was very rude you know."
"So I am just supposed to lie about what I think?"
"Better than hurting someone's feelings like you just did! I want you to apologize."
"I have nothing to apologize for. You both should learn to grow a spine like I had to."
Kaya did not say anything to this statement, but rather she put her hands in front of her face and let out a silent scream. She sighed and looked over at Kitt. "I'm sorry... Kitt, was it? He didn't mean it." Hawkeye was about to object to this before Kaya held up a finger towards the Hawkmon.
It was then where Kitt revealed that he did have a weapon of sorts. It was a double-bladed sword, one that looked very fancy and other worldly. Hawkeye simply raised an eyebrow in interest, where Kaya's face lit up as she had never seen a sword quite like Kitt's before.
Eventually Hawkeye sighed, admitting defeat. "Alright, you may come along, but you will have to hunt your own food. We do not have enough to share with you for the length of our trip. Come on, let's get moving."
Looking at the other two's reaction to his weapon, it appeared that the Spadamon made an impression on the both of them, especially Hawkeye who only raised an eyebrow in response. He had no intention to impress them since he doesn't like to show off. It was pretentious to him really.
His eyes widen a bit and nodded in response when the Hawkmon said he can accompany on their journey, but he'll have to find food on his own. "T-Thank you very much Mr. Hawkeye-sama." He bowed to him as a sigh of respect, despite him being mean to him. He didn't show it but deep down, this Digimon reminded him too much of many Digimon that would talk down to him and bully him for no reason. He almost forgot that some Digimon just didn't took too kindly to others. It made him angry just thinking about it, but brushed it off nonetheless.
The food-finding thing was not problem for him as a condition. When he was still a nomad- or rather homeless, he was use to looking for food, whether it be scavenging or stealing it from vendors when he didn't had enough Bits. It was a tough lifestyle; a lifestyle that he now had to temporary re-visit again.
Putting his sword away, he followed closely to Kaya and kept his distance from Hawkeye as all three of them began to depart. He didn't know why he wanted to help them. Was it to pass the time, the prospect of going to a new place, or simply because he saw a human wanting to go home and he just wanted to see that so? In any case, the journey looked like it was going to be long since Hawkeye mentioned earlier it might take a few days to get there. If any danger were to come up, he'll be able to proof his worth to Hawkeye when the time comes.

Hawkeye was nice enough to let Kitt travel along with him and Kaya, but he was not expecting the Spadamon's reaction to be a combination of formal and completely unexpected. He bowed towards Hawkeye as he thanked him, a sign of respect in Japan. In response, Hawkeye blushed greatly and looked away from Kitt. "D-Don't mention it."
Kaya couldn't help but laugh when she saw Hawkeye begin to act like this. "What happened to that tough guy act you had just a little while ago, huh? 'Cat got your tongue'?" She snickered at her horrible joke. In response, Hawkeye just stared at the girl, clearly not getting it. "I-It's funny because Kitt is... y'know, he's a cat and, uh... how about we start walking now?"
"That would be for the best."
The three of them would then continue on to walk down the path for the rest of the day. They had made good distance in that day, with very few major hindrances aside from a complaint or two about walking so much. Eventually the sun began to set in the sky, and the group was in an area that had trees sprinkled here and there. The toll of the walk was even getting to Hawkeye now. "I think we should stop here for the night, set up camp. I'm feeling peckish."
"Yeah I'm kinda hungry too," Kaya agreed, plopping down right next to a tree. "Ugh, my feet are killing me..."
"Because you're not used to much walking, unlike most Digimon. Do you have the food bag, Kaya?"
"Right here," Kaya confirmed as she pulled the brown leather bag closer to her. She looked up at Kitt, feeling bad that he had to hunt instead of eating the food with her and the Hawkmon. "Kitt, you can have some of our food if you want," she said quietly to the Spadamon so that Hawkeye would not hear her.
