The air above the spartan grounds was ominous. A mix of minor events had caused a sort of virus type infection in the very skies above, causing an ominous dark red gloom to overtake the ground. Virus types like Bero felt it’s influence like a motivating call every second they remained under the bloody evening light. It wasn’t some kind of major occurrence or bad prediction, just a minor weather occurrence which served as a sort of energy boost to virus digimon. Fittingly enough, the general atmosphere of the Spartan training grounds was darker than ever. Overconfident virus types were training and acting their worst.
That’s not to say everyone there was a virus type or suffering under their command. Most virus types were well inhibited enough to keep to their own training, and plenty were just nice digimon like any other. For that reason, it was possible for a group of in-trainings who still planned to achieve rookie to remain in the training grounds. Today was a day of celebration for them, at first. One of them had managed to reach rookie; an overjoyed Shamamon. This Shamamon was no weakling either, capable of spellcasting as early as the rookie stage. His existence bode well for the group of friends. Having such a wise digimon would aid them greatly.
But right now, their wise digimon had gotten overconfident, and met with an untimely beatdown from a Blackgabumon which was more pissant and had more fire within him than practically any other rookie in the training ground. The blood red aura which rendered crueller digimon like him even worse was not helping either. Many of the Shamamon’s in-training friends, including the Shamamon himself, had scattered due to their fear. Bero was one of the cruellest things they had ever seen in their lifespan.
Bero was annoyed. Such a smug Shamamon and such potential too, with some ritual like access to elemental powers. But all that for nothing. All those in-trainings were goading about how Shamamon was their best fighter, But Bero easily beat him down without getting as much as a deep scratch on him. He was disappointed, and moved on to the training devices of the town. Bero’s intense blue fires on his cape still lit the environment around him, which made him stand out of the red air and under the red sky. Yet, all the same, the Red sky’s effects seemed to surround him, giving him a mixed aura of forceful power from his fire, and sheer cruelty from the red weather.

One. Two. Three.
Three times did the small purple imp punch the sand bag that hanged from a tall tree, the inert piece of training equipement dangling in front of him back and forth at the mercy of his fists. The tiny megalomaniac known as Dio was, quite frankly, having a quite a relaxing evening so far: spending his time alone doing some light training, all the while his human partner was busy making amends with his girl friend or something to that effect. Dio didn't particularly care, in fact he was glad Carlos wasn't around, he would have probably spend most of the day looking worried about the "ominous" color of the sky.
Dio could only chuckle at that mental image, only a human would be worried by something as mundane as the sky changing color. Besides, he had come to appreciate this moments on his own, unrestrained by the human's strong morality "holding him back", he had been able to speak his thoughts out loud without being hushed by the man. It felt...liberating.
And...maybe it was because indeed he was on his own, or perhaps the influence of the reddish sky had on his mood, but this almost felt like a terrific evening to have a fight.
Alas, his good mood was not to last, as he soon would hear the fearful sound of crying close to his location. He would have probably ignored it and carried on with his day...had those cries not belonged to a bunch of particularly loud in training digimon.
Less out of curiosity and more because he simply couldn't ignore them, Dio found himself listening in on their conversation...or rather mourning? Whatever had happened to them they seemed...utterly distraught. Fearful. Completely terrified of something or rather...someone. Someone so vile and evil that he had done...something to their friend.
At least, that's what he could understand amongst the uninteligible crying. What really made him react was the tone, the sheer anguish behind said cries. These kids had seen something awful, something that had left them marked.
It was hard to piece together just what had happened, but Dio could clearly understand the basic gist of it: someone had utterly trashed a Shamamon, in such a cruel way that...it led the imp to fear the worst. Those cries, he knew them all too well. Those were the cries of someone that knew a friend was not coming back.
Could...the Shamamon have been loaded? It would surely explain why the huge commotion. And Dio felt this was probably the case, and that posibility alone made him feel primal, terrible things he hadn't felt in a while.
To put it mildly, he could almost feel his digicore boiling, as a feeling he hadn't felt in a long time reared its ugly head once again.
Pure anger.
Whoever was responsible for this...he'd personally deal with them as soon as he saw them. And saw them he did soon enough, as he noticed a dark blue figure not too far from him: a BlackGabumon.
Just from sight alone Dio could just tell this digimon was something else. He had quite an imposing presence, a hot and fiery power, and to cap it all off the Blackgabumon reeked of pure smugness and pride. It clearly felt on top of the food chain, and judging by the way all the other digimon meekly avoided him, he probably had reason to.
There was no doubt about it, that had to be the digimon the in trainings talked about. Dio was sure of it. Or at least sure enough to make his move without a hint of hesitation. Clenching his fist with fury, the self proclaimed Dark Lord punched forward, the energy surrounding his fist materializing into crackling sparks and red hot embers as a small but fast fireball was aimed right for the dark digimon's smug face.
He cared little if he dodged this attack or not, after all it was but a warning shot, even if it reached its target it would hardly cause any lasting damage. For Dio this was mere formality, even if this digimon probably didn't deserve that much, his pride kept him from going all out on an unaware oponent. All he really wanted was his full attention for what he would then say.
"Hey, mongrel." He sneered, fire in his eyes and cold anger in his voice. "You think being a virus during a viral sun gives you the right to pull that kind of crap?"

Considering the Fireball was aimed at Bero’s face, Bero had a good look at it’s temperature before he dodged it with natural ease. He had waited to dodge it, just a split second too long though, causing it to roll over his side and graze it softly, licking at him and creating the faintest burn mark. His head was still for a moment after the dodge, realizing there was a very faint hint of damage, nothing consequential. He slowly returned his head to its resting position and turned to stare straight at Dio. Bero’s eyes were normally a blue violet, but the Viral sun gave them just that red shine necessary to be practically deep red. “Do you even call that a fireball? I’ve seen Blucomon create better fireballs than that.”
He didn’t acknowledge the comment on him being a mongrel at first, analysing the Impmon, giving him a good look. He looked like any other Impmon Bero’s ever seen, meaning they were talented in controlling elements, but not to the same degree as Bero’s mastery of fire. His entire cloak still caped in vicious blue flame, Bero stared straight to Impmon. He positively was loving that expression of anger and despise, and his enjoyment started reflecting in his own expression. A sick grin grew wide on his face, white teeth glimmering red and blue due to the viral sun and Bero’s fire, just underneath the flaming cloak. “Being a Virus has nothing to do with what i do. The weak live according to the whims of the strong.”
He cared not for the Impmon’s stupidity or irritations with him, caring far and far more for the anger that would render the Impmon’s fighting skills much more interesting to Bero. It was also nice because Bero hadn’t shown the Impmon anything besides that he could light his cape aflame. If the Impmon didn’t even know anything else, Bero had a good few surprising for him. He wasn’t your usual BlackGabumon with just a blue fireball and a nasty bite.
“If you’re so mad, why don’t you see if you’re the stronger one here? See if you can make me bend to your whims. I wouldn’t get your hopes high, but it’d pass some of my time at least.” Bero was now fixated on the Impmon. Bero slowly stepped closer, as he was more oriented to being up close and personal than most Impmon were. He was prepared to dodge while walking closer and get dashing into full combat though.

While it was hard to say Dio didn't expect the Gabumon to dodge his attack, he was just the slightest bit dissapointed too. It would have been hilarious to get that smug look of his face with a well placed attack. Alas, it only seemed to have made the rookie more outwardly smug than he already was, judging by his ensuing taunt.
Dio bit his lip in irritation, as if he couldn't despise this digimon even more. As his rival's grin grew wider, so did Dio's sneer, the imp not even trying to hide his sheer disdain for the other mon. And this only got worse as he spoke again, seemingly justifying himself with some words Dio had heard far too many times before.
"The weak live according to the whims of the strong.”
It was a philosophy that even Dio somewhat shared in some ways: a Dark Lord would eventually need subjects, after all, and he wouldn't have lasted his infancy in the Dark Area if he hadn't abided by such rules.
But this was different. Subservience was one thing. Outright culling the "weak ones" was a different thing all together. Only a parasite got stronger by ending the lives of those below them.
"You might want to take those words back, clearly you don't know who you're talking to." Dio lowly replied, practically growling at this point.
Rather (un)expectedly, what did the Gabumon do after he was done talking? He simply continued walking, straight at Dio. The egomaniac took note of this, his scowl turning into an angry, if slightly amused smirk, before he too began walking in the direction of his new opponent.
"Quit your babbling, let's see if your punches are as dissapointing as your insults." He spat, arrogance dripping from his tone.
Even someone as overconfident as Dio could tell just by the way the blue pelted lizard walked towards him that he was both just as cocky and full of himself as the impmon was, and that he probably had more than enough reasons to feel that way. This was not a foe he could underestimate.
But that made it all the more entertaining, didn't it?
The purple rookie's hand began glowing once again with an ominous gleam, red both like the fireball prior and the sky above, the temperature on his palm rising as small embers began forming into a fire. It was probably wise to not show his enemy all of his tricks just yet, while at the same time trying to get him to reveal some of his own power as well.
"Entertain your Lord." He said, throwing yet another fireball at the BlackGabumon, this time aimed for his chest.
Dio throws another Night of Fire at Bero.

“Oh i know plenty what i’m talking to. A rookie, just like myself.” The impmon started walking as well, which would only make things more convenient for Bero. The two exchanged confident stares. It wasn’t like they were big, important digimons, with sheer auras of power. But to them, this was serious. They both had solidified one another as enemies with their confidence, and apparently, Bero had ideologically offended the Impmon. All the better to go all out against them with. “You haven’t even tried a single insult yourself, i hope you fight better than you talk.”Bero continued walking as the Impmon prepared his fireball. As Bero came closer, it turned out that he was quite short, even for Rookie digimon standards. Nonetheless, this would not hinder Bero’s combat prowess, Since the Fireball once more came from a very predictable angle, Bero would have no issue dodging it. It was a bit faster this time, so he couldn’t dodge it last second, and any help would be welcome. The help, in question, was his own skills. Whereas his black cape was already on fire, on his command, it burst into a pitch. Heated flames came off of it like a small inferno created directly ontop of the Gabumon as he ducked diagonally to avoid the fireball, using the extra speed the stoked fires had given him to make his move. After ducking, he broke out into full sprint, rushing like a living fireball towards his enemy! He wasn’t ready to show all his tricks either yet, so he’d rely on a shouldertackle using the heated fires to attack Dio with! Bero uses Accelerant Ignition to buff his speed! Bero dodges the Night of Fire and comes barrelling towards Dio in a tackle (basic attack). Stacks of “Basics Mastery” = 5 Passives: Superior Technique[RAM upgrade GIGA] Combat Passive - Bero’s incredible technique lets him improvise his attacks and abilities, using his natural weapons and traits of his body’s code to great effectiveness. Bero starts each combat with 5 stacks of ‘Basics Mastery’ and every round he is in combat he gains 2 more stacks. He can hold a maximum of 15 stacks. Using 5 stacks allows him to empower one basic attack to deal damage equal to a named attack with a 1-turn cooldown. This attack counts as Bero’s named attack (or one of his named attacks, incase he’s 1 vs twins) for the post it is used. Other passives may give him more stacks of ‘Basics Mastery’ or methods to use it.
Flame Coat Combat Passive - Naturally capable of lighting his entire coat aflame, Bero makes sure to always fight with this fire backing him up. As long as this passive is in effect, Bero’s coat is covered in hot blue flames, and he can control the claws on his coat freely as if they were two extra sets of limbs. He can stretch out these limbs like rubber, using them to increase the reach of his basic attacks, and allow him to interact with objects or digimon from a distance. The elastic nature of his cloak allows him to attack up to 5 meters away, or about 5x the expected distance the limbs could reach. These limbs are strong enough for him to pull himself up by them or push himself off the ground using them. Due to being constantly aflame, they increase the damage of his basic attacks using these arms by 10%. While the hot flames of his coat are dangerous, they do not actually deal significant damage when merely touched. Active moves: Accelerant Ignition Buff - Stoking the fires of his cape with raw energy, Bero covers himself with raging fire which allows him to move about 30% faster and makes touching his cape quite harmful, to the point of enemies dealing minor damage to oneself upon striking Bero with a melee attack. This buff lasts 3 posts and has a cooldown of 5 posts. Cooldowns: Accelerant Ignition: Used this turn. Buff just started, cooldown not started.

Yet again, it would appear his attack was easily dodged. Maybe Carlos was right, he had a pretty lousy aim. It was also then when Dio just noticed how small his target actually was. In fact, this rookie was actually smaller than Dio himself! Not by much mind you, but to him it made a whole world of difference, at least to someone so fixated on his own small size as Dio. It wasn't just a matter of personal conviction, his pride was on the line. He couldn't let a runt like this beat him!
This runt however would soon take advantage of said reduced size, as he broke into a dash in the blink of an eye, seemingly planning to strike Dio head on.
He was fast. Quite unexpectedly so for Dio, as he knew he wasn't quite fast enough to dodge the incoming attack, instead shifting his stance while he readied himself to try to block and mitigate some of the damage, his arms raised defesively in front of his body. The gabumon soon impacted at full speed against Dio, and would have easily knocked the wind out of him had it not been because his arms took the brunt of the attack. He grunted in mild pain, but he wasn't about to let the other mon go unpunished over such a reckless move. After all, he was now within Dio's most effective range.
"Weak!" The imp taunted, power converging into one of his hands as it reeled back in preparation for his retaliation. Said hand clenched into a fist as it glowed, this time with a chilly blue as the air surrounding it became visibly colder. His hand now encased in a think coat of ice, he swung his icy fist in the Gabumon's direction, aiming to knock him off him with a well placed hook to the face!
Dio takes damage from Bero's tackle, and attempts to attack Bero with Night of Blizzard.
Night of Blizzard: Imbues his left hand with frost, and either throws a small ball of ice or enhances his following punch with ice.

Dio would sort of Block Bero’s tackle, which was a fair move. It didn’t wipe the grin off of Bero’s face, as he allowed himself to be exactly where he liked being. In Melee range, his enemy close to the never-ending Fire that persisted around Bero. Bero braced himself in stance after being blocked, ready to continue in melee combat with increased speed. It wouldn’t be much, but it’d help somewhat. Dio was confident in his attack, looking to hook Bero right in the face. Bero, naturally, still had his arms to block. However, remembering his lesson he got from another fight, also including an Impmon, he decided to keep as much of an advantage for as long as possible. As Dio raised his fist high, and gathered the power of Cold, Bero’s horn lit slightly more in blue flames. Right before Dio’s fist made contact, a blue orb surrounded Bero entirely. This orb, made of sheer fire, burned at Dio as his fist went right into it, and bero’s cloak burned at Dio aswell when Dio tried to punch him. Not only that, but the ice burned right away and Dio felt the force of the fire dampen his punch to a harmless tap. “Well, look who’s calling the kettle black. I’d say Weak is a better description for your attack.” Bero smiled and he tried to grab Dio’s wrist with his own hand, to keep a hold on it and make fighting that much harder for his merely 2-limbed enemy. Bero uses Azure Zenith to Block his Night of Blizzard and deal retaliation damage to Dio! Bero’s Accelerant Ignition deals retaliation damage to Dio! Stacks of “Basics Mastery” = 7 Passives: Superior Technique[RAM upgrade GIGA] Combat Passive - Bero’s incredible technique lets him improvise his attacks and abilities, using his natural weapons and traits of his body’s code to great effectiveness. Bero starts each combat with 5 stacks of ‘Basics Mastery’ and every round he is in combat he gains 2 more stacks. He can hold a maximum of 15 stacks. While the hot flames of his coat are dangerous, they do not actually deal significant damage when merely touched. Active moves: Azure Zenith Defense - A small gout of flame rises from Bero’s horn before quickly creating a thin wall of flame all around Bero to protect him with, this defends him against rookie level attacks and reduces damage of champion level attacks by 50%, and also damages opponents who use melee attacks for minor damage. This ability blocks for a duration of 1 turn. This ability has a cooldown of 4 posts.
Accelerant Ignition Buff - Stoking the fires of his cape with raw energy, Bero covers himself with raging fire which allows him to move about 30% faster and makes touching his cape quite harmful, to the point of enemies dealing minor damage to oneself upon striking Bero with a melee attack. This buff lasts 3 posts and has a cooldown of 5 posts. Cooldowns: Accelerant Ignition: Used last turn. Buff is on ⅔ turns, cooldown not started. In all of his many battles, Dio had gotten used to either his attacks being dodged or being ineffective altogether. It was just the natural flow of a battle. What was new for him however was pretty much hurting himself because he attacked. As it turned out, even a thick cape of ice couldn't do much against a larger concentrated coat of fire, and he found out the hard way as Bero summoned an orb of fire before Dio's attack connected.
The imp snarled in pain as the ice melted because of the orb and exposed his gloved hand to the blue fires covering the Gabumon. As soon as he felt his hand being burned twice in a row he'd instictively take a step back as he took his hand away, the red glove now slightly blackened and charred. It wasn't a particularly bad injury but that didn't change the fact it hurt. Both to him and his pride. And to add further insult to injury, the runt was clearly enjoying himself, much to Dio's growing dismay.
He would have tried to think of a comeback to his rival's own taunt, but the Gabumon was not done with him, as he'd quicly reach out and grab him by the wrist. This however, rather than alarm the imp, only made him all the more furious. And underneath all that fury, even Dio could recognize that this was now his chance: if Bero was grabbing him, that meant he'd have a harder time dodging his next attack.
"Hands. Off!" He yelled in anger, his open palm just a mere inches away from Bero's face. Despite initial appearances he wouldn't try to hit his face with his palm alone, something that was made apparent by the sudden dark glow from the imp's hand. Less than a second lated, a dark blast of pure energy would erupt from Dio's hand, intent on blasting Bero away unless he let go of Dio's hand or blocked it again.
Dio takes light damage from Bero's Azure Zenith and Accelerant Ignition, before attacking with Primordial Burst.
Primordial Burst: Combines both fire and ice magic to launch a sphere of dark energy from his hands. It’s considerably stronger than his other attacks, and as such takes more energy to perform. Two post cooldown.

Bero would indeed have a hard time dodging the next attack, IF NOT FOR… nothing, he had no tools to avoid the damage of this attack entirely, he could merely let go of Dio and move his body to the side to let the primordial burst slam into his shoulder! The ball of pure dark energy knocked him back, an inch. He was damaged, it was a good hit. However, Bero did not let this discourage him. In fact, he was starting to learn. Don’t be cocky and drop your defence because you hadn’t taken damage thus far. He grinned still and recovered from the blow with relative ease. “Maybe you’re worth mentioning, albeit barely.” Bero taunted with his smile. Bero took a small step back, away from the direct melee, although still within a single step and then punch-range from Dio. This small distance would make it easier for Bero to dodge, while, as far as Bero was concerned, wouldn’t make it any easier for Dio to dodge. Bero smiled as he stood ready to dodge, one of his cloak’s arms suddenly stretching towards Dio’s leg! The gears in Bero's brain were turning. He wanted to control this battle, misinform the enemy and feint him. True, many enemies weren't easy to fake out repeatedly, and commonly enough weren't possible to fake out at all, but Bero always loved practising it. Given, if Dio was paying attention, he may notice the intent behind Bero's actions. Bero let one of the cloaks arms dash out to merely tap Dio’s legs and then snap back. He didn’t want to give Dio the impression they could actually be used to attack or had any strength, yet. if the sudden stretching arm would touch Dio, Bero would put upon him a fiery brand which would make any future attacks so much worse. Due to Bero’s own focus on dodging though, the flaming claw may be easier for Dio to dodge as well. Bero takes Primordial Burst’s damage in full, letting go of Dio to redirect it to hit it’s shoulder. It still does some nasty damage! Bero steps back, creating some small distance between him and Dio, but still remaining mostly in melee distance. Bero focuses on dodging. Bero uses Flame Coat to try to apply Burning Brand on Dio in a quick, but somewhat easier to dodge motion. Stacks of “Basics Mastery” = 9 Passives: Superior Technique[RAM upgrade GIGA] Combat Passive - Bero’s incredible technique lets him improvise his attacks and abilities, using his natural weapons and traits of his body’s code to great effectiveness.

Due to being constantly aflame, they increase the damage of his basic attacks using these arms by 10%. While the hot flames of his coat are dangerous, they do not actually deal significant damage when merely touched. Active moves: Burning Brand (RAM upgrade) Debuff - Bero extends one of his claws, and attempts to touch his enemy. Upon touching the enemy, Blue flames quickly rush over them, while not damaging them directly. Marks of the attack appear over their body as a brand, lasting up to 3 posts and making them more vulnerable to any fire damage Bero deals. This has a 3 post cooldown.
Cooldowns: Accelerant Ignition: Buff is on final turn, cooldown not started. Azure Zenith: Used last turn. 1/4 posts cooldown passed. Burning Brand: Used this turn. Cooldown only starts if effect fails to apply.

At last, a clean hit! There was some slight sadistic glee as Dio saw the Gabumon's body being pushed back by his own attack, his hand letting go of him in the process. Unfortunately however, that had not made a single dent on Bero's confidence, however.
"Feh, are you trying to bore me to death with your taunts?" Dio snapped back, clearly more aggravated by the Blackgabumon's mouth than any of the injuries sustained thus far, and would have gladly charged forward to stay on the offensive...but something really unexpected happened.
Dio's eyes widened in surprise as he saw one of the digimon's cloak arms suddenly stretch out and reach for him, as if possesed by an outside force. Finally Bero showed his true colors. In a swift, if panicked movement the imp would jump backwards, narrowly avoiding being reached by the flaming claw, landing even further away from Bero. "Aren't you just full of surprises..." He quipped, his still surprised eyes nevertheless filled with contempt.
At the very least Bero was finally starting to show off more of what he was actually capable off. But was that cloak an actual threat Dio should avoid or just for show and mindgames? It had tried to reach for him, but there didn't seem to be enough strenght behind that movement to be particularly harmful either...Whatever the case, Dio was smart enough not to risk finding out just yet, instead hanging back and sending another fireball in the Gabumon's direction. Considering he was now on the defensive as well and just as ready to dodge as his foe however, his attack was probably going to be relatively simple for Bero to avoid.
Dio jumps back to avoid Bero's Burning Brand, increasing even more the distance between the two, before retaliating with another ranged Night of Fire

“Nah, i might’ve tried, but beating you would probably be easier.” Bero smiled. Boring him to death would certainly have been easier. Not that he’d admit it, because he wanted the Impmon to show him EVERYTHING. He was certainly about to show something entirely new to the Impmon. As the impmon dodged back and sent out a simple fireball, Bero’s cloak flames calmed down somewhat for a split second. Only before roaring to an even hotter blaze than before, Blue fire pouring off of them and rushing over the ground, creating a circle of flames. There was only a second before those flames went FWOOOOOOOOOSHHHH and a veritable wall of intense, blue, fire lit up the entire environment and surrounded the two. In the same move, Bero sidestepped the fireball and said fireball was swallowed up in blue, intense flames, vanishing entirely in what was clearly, dangerous, high heat fire. Bero’s wicked grin raised up for a second, almost as if to ask ‘what do you think’ to Dio as he was now fighting within an Arena of Fire. Bero started approaching, rolling one of his shoulders, to make it appear like it had never been hit by Dio’s attack. In reality, it did hurt, and he definitely wasn’t going to use it, but he just needed to pysche out Dio. He started running at a calm pace to Dio, making sure to keep any kind of move available, be it a jump, sideways dodge, or suddenly doing something with his claws. For now though, he wanted Dio to think he was going to push the impmon into the flaming walls, so he raised his hands into that kind of position while continuing his moderate speed running! Bero, in one move, uses Petit Arena to trap Dio and himself in an arena of Fire, and sidesteps Dio’s Night of Fire, letting the fireball hit his arena of fire. Bero rolls his shoulder that was hit and starts slowly running towards Dio, pretending that he’s going to push him into the fire, while in reality, he’s keeping his options open! Stacks of “Basics Mastery” = 11 Passives: Superior Technique[RAM upgrade GIGA] Combat Passive - Bero’s incredible technique lets him improvise his attacks and abilities, using his natural weapons and traits of his body’s code to great effectiveness.
Active moves: Petit Arena Utility/Attack - Erupting flames from his coat, Bero has the flames trail across the ground to circle him and an opponent within 5 meters of him. These flames form a high wall of fire, creating a small arena of Fire which is difficult to escape. This attack cannot automatically connect or damage Bero’s opponent upon activation. Touching the fires makes anyone except Bero take minor damage, forcing them self through the fires to escape the arena (or someone else forcing themselves into the arena) deals severe damage. The Arena lasts for 2 posts, and has a 6 post cooldown.. Cooldowns: Accelerant Ignition: Buff is over, 0/5 posts cooldown passed Azure Zenith: 2/4 posts cooldown passed. Burning Brand: Used last turn. 1/3 posts cooldown passed. Petit Arena Used this turn. 0/6 posts cooldown passed.

Predictably, Dio's own attack missed its mark by a fair margin. Not as predictably however, was what came next, as he soon found himself surrounded by tall walls of blue flames created by his very opponent, the two rookie digimon now trapped in what could only be described as a hellish arena.
The heat was almost unbearable, far more intense than anything Dio had experienced before, it was almost hard to breathe. So of course it was nothing short of alarming for him when he saw Bero charging (at an admitedly leisure pace) right at him, evil intention gleaming in his eyes. The imp tensed his stance even more, trying to hide how...unexpected it was to see a rookie like Bero being this proficient at fighting.
The rational part of his brain told him this was all a ruse, an intimidation tactic by Bero to get under his skin. The problem? It was working. Was he planning on shoving him through the fire?
Starting to feel cornered and overwhelmed, Dio did something reckless. Something that would either pay off tremendously, or cripple him for the rest of the fight. He charged forward, faster than Bero's mild pace, his arm glowing a furious red once again. To the untrained eye it would have looked like he was preparing another simple fireball, but if Bero paid enough attention he would probably notice how unstable the glow from Dio's arm looked, almost as if was about to explode at any moment.
In any other situation he'd have probably attempted to say something relatively witty or maybe even a bad fire related pun or boast. Now however, with tensions high and his hide on the line he could only let out a simple yet incredibly furious,
"To hell with you!" He yelled as he lunged at the Gabumon, but rather than aiming to hit him he punched the ground right in front of him with all his might. Much like a moment before, there would be a milisecond of silence before a furious torrent of fire erupted from underneath the imp, a pillar of pure fire surrounding him and shooting up to the sky, barely rising above Bero's blue walls. Of course, if Bero were to be hit by this fire he'd be in for quite a world of pain, while Dio stayed hidden within the relative safety of the pillar, trying his damnest to figure out his next move.
Of course wheter Bero would actually be hit by this or not was almost secondary for Dio, and would only depend in how the Gabumon reacted to his previous lunge. All Dio needed was some breathing room, some time to think of a plan, and this was the quickest way to get it.
Dio jumps closer to Bero and uses Pillar of Fire to keep Bero at bay for the time being.
Pillar of Fire: Punches the ground and either surrounds himself in a fiery pillar or creates a small wall of fire. Said fire can last up to one post. Two posts cool down.

Bero found out his plan had worked admirably when the Impmon had finally panicked, the large field of fire creating a heat that was clearly too dangerous for the Impmon to ignore. Impmon started rushing with a fire knuckle ready. Had Bero not been determined to perform his own move, he’d have noticed it’d be different than Dio’s fire punches earlier. As Dio closed in on him, Bero used the lower to pair of claws on his back, pushing them against the ground and pushing him forwards together with a jump of his feet. His combined jump had sent him at a pace comparable to himself earlier this same battle, suddenly rushing forward and upward. Dio, had sadly enough, aimed to close for the BlackGabumon himself. The BlackGabumon had rushed forward so quickly, it was like he burst through the pillar of fire as it came into existence. That BlackGabumon was now upside-down above him. In truth, Bero had not been so quick that he had avoided the Pillar of Fire entirely, part of his feet and tail burning somewhat. But the most important part? He was upside down and above Dio. The flying Bero had no issue extending the other pair of claws to grab Dio, as he did, he finished his forward somersault, Dragging Dio upwards with the force of his somersault, attempting to lift Dio off the ground, and with all the Superior Technique he had garnered over the his many battles, Tugged on the Impmon with all the might his stretchy appendages had, Attempting to launch Dio towards the walls of Petit Arena with sheer force! “Out of the pan, INTO THE FIRE WITH YOU, HAHAHAHAHA” Bero, using his feet and second pair of cloak arms Jumped over Dio right at the last second! In his somersault, the creation of Pillar of Fire still hits him for reduced damage. Bero mid somersault, Grabs Dio, and uses 5 stacks of ‘basics mastery’ for Superior Technique to somersault toss dio with the power of a named attack with a 1-turn cooldown! He does this to throw Dio towards the walls of Fire created by Petit Arena! Thing's seemed to calm down for all of a blissful second or two, the fire surrounding the imp for the time being the closest thing to a safe place right now. It was not to last however, as the flames brought forth by Dio faded the imp eyes widened in shock as he found...nothing in front of him. The smug lizard was nowhere to be seen. Before he could even question where he had gone to Bero was quick to give him the answer. In the most startling way possible.
Not a second later the impmon suddenly felt a great weight grabbing on to him from above, something that looked not unlike a giant clawed hand keeping a tight grasp on him. He didn't need to hear that wicked laughter to know who it belonged to, after all he had seen it a second ago.
True enough, in the microsecond before disaster Dio did indeed figured this was *Bero's* cloak once again, stretched and elongated in an impossibly long way. And judging by the direction they came from, a hint of dread appeared on the imp's face as he knew exactly what would come next.
"DON'T-!" But it was too late, his body soon was ripped away from the ground and thrown with great strenght into the air, Dio's only response being a surprised yelp. It was rather embarrasing to admit but Dio had been taken completely off guard by the Gabumon's deceit.
And unless he did something he could kiss this fight goodbye, there was no way back for him after crossing that fire.
But Bero had made a slight mistake in believing Dio was completely defenseless in the air. Ironically something as simple as a shove would have probably been more efficient, if perhaps not nearly as stylish and terrifying. In a quick motion the Dark Lord twisted his body around, being upside down in the air not unlike Bero had been before throwing him, his arm glowing a chilly blue as power converged on it. Stretching his arm foward an icy chain shot out from his palm, aiming to coil itself around the now grounded Bero.
And even if Bero was to dodge it, Dio had angled the shot in such a way the chain would hit the ground if the Gabumon didn't receive it, after which the chain would immediatelly latch itself onto it. Regardless of what the icy chain would hit however, Dio would then grab on to it with both hands and pull from it with all the strenght he could muster, launching himself back down to ground level and more importantly away from that deadly wall of fire.
"You're gonna have to try harder than that." He said letting out an odd mixture between a relieved sigh and an exhausted wheeze, trying his best to seem as nonplussed by that experience as possible.
While he had taken a bigger hit to his pride than his body, he was now determined to make Bero regret humilliating him like that. This was no longer just about survival. This was personal.
Dio is succesfully launched and takes damage from Bero's Superior Technique empowered throw. He still manages to save himself from the Petit Arena by using ChaineD to propel away from it (and hopefully get Bero in the process).
[RAM Upgrade] ChaineD: A more refined version of his bootleg saberk D-Edge skill, Dio summons a frozen ice chain made out of purple energy. It can be extend up to 13ft, latch on to most surfaces with ease and can't be melted. If used against an enemy it will coil itself around them, causing medium damage and rooting anything below armor champion for one post. Three posts cooldown.

Bero watched at his opponent fly, but before he could truly react himself, He watched the Impmon twist their body and summon upon its powers akin to magic! Without much warning, Bero found a twisting chain of ice cold digiforce launch itself towards him. His attempt at stepping back was met with freezing pain, as the chain wrapped around himself and froze Bero against the ground. The fires of his cape hissed and sparked at random as they were at conflict with the ice cold chain. Dio would found that the combined force of the ice and Bero’s weight would render his movement slowed ever so slightly, enough that as he descended and touched the ground once more himself, the heat tickled his back and slid over his fur before vanishing, the light of the viral sun and red evening shine once more the mood of the environment, no less of a mood to fight in. Bero struggles, clearly captured by the damn chain and not able to move easily, it wrapped around a large majority of his limbs. However, Bero having 6 available limbs to attack with, having a majority chained and wrapped down just meant that only two limbs were available. Somehow, it was both the claws that were on the left side of his cloak, both his hands and his right side completely tied up. Chain must have hit from the right. Bero did not want to pass this opportunity. “You’ve got to make this banter harder than me just repeating what you say.” Bero smiled, although the chains had hurt him, focusing on his technique, he could launch out his two left claws to grab Dio by his legs and back! With the elasticity, the claws would be able to pull Dio very hard, and Bero prepared to give Dio a warm welcome using his head if Dio would be pulled back by his claws! Petit Arena ends. Bero takes the full damage from ChaineD and is rooted! Bero uses Superior Technique using his two free limbs (Decided using random.org) to drag Dio to him, headbutting Dio if he gets the chance! (This is a 2 part attack and the combined damage equals the damage of a 1-post cooldown named attack.) Stacks of “Basics Mastery” = 5
