A Stick of Trouble [Toki]

There was a grin and a quirk of her eyebrows as Toki extolled the joy of the place, and one curiously placed wince when Toki mentioned sauces. It was there then immediately gone as soon as it had come.
With the sun starting to set the sky outside was painted in brilliant oranges and pinks and Hiroyo preened a little both at his praise and her good sense to pick the seat! Morgan rolled his eyes affectionately and looked out the window until Toki started talking about his experiences. Even Roger, though his beak was pointed toward the rest of the dining room to catch more smells, was very carefully listening judging by the twitch of his antenna.
"A year huh?" Hiroyo repeated thoughtfully. How long had she and the bugs been together? Not quite a year, but they certainly had been a group for a decently long time, right? She dismissed the thought by picking up her fancy flavored lemonade and taking a sip. "I know what you mean about surreal, there's still things here I can't get use too!"
The bugs relate to his fight with MetalPhantomon, the difficulty of facing down strong opponent and barely making it out. Their personal experience hadn't been quite so bad but without deity-level intervention they would've ended up in much worse shape. Morgan's expression shifted to the serious and Roger's head swivelled to Toki as the spirit user recounted the fight.
"You survived so you've gotta be tough." He said, then tilted his head as Toki very vaguely described his fight with Megidramon. He had slid of Hiroyo's shoulder to sit beside her. It made it a little awkward when he leaned forward, his beak opening in a grin. "Do you always nearly die trying to help people?"
Hiroyo rolled her eyes and leaned forward with Morgan to take a look at Toki's digivice. Her face lit up with a delighted smile as she watched him flick through the forms: unlike Morgan who was paying atention to the words she was focused on the images.
"Bunnies! I mean, ahem," She coughed into her fist after her outcry, a bit of her brain realizing that some people might not like being referred to in such a cutesy term. Morgan gave her a brief Look before turning back to his own studying. "Rabbits! That's pretty cool, you've got a punch rabbit and a tall rabbit and another martial artist rabbit and ooh! Blue rabbit!"
Morgan rolled his eyes but didn't say anything.

"It's the surreal stuff here that I just love! To Digimon, much of it is normal, but to them, our world is the surreal one. It's a matter of cultural perspective, really." He said in response to Hiroyo's mention of certain things she hasn't gotten used to. "It certainly feels like it's been longer than a year, though. I guess it's all the things I've experienced. Adventuring in a world so alien to me and having access to strange powers does that, I suppose."
He rubbed the back of his head slightly "I survived because gambles worked out. A lot of what I did I wasn't even sure was going to work, so I'm not sure if that's really praiseworthy." He said, a tad insecure about that. He frowned a bit and looked away at Roger's question. "...I guess so." He said bluntly. "Someone's got to risk their life to do good out there in situations like that...evil triumphs when good people do nothing."
Toki's momentary lapse into sadness was broken at Hiroyo's adoration for the theme his spirits had. He blushed, but he smiled happily "I-It's a good thing I love rabbits. Animals in general, really." He said, muttering it a little bit. He wasn't used to talking about random things he enjoyed or liked. A lot of the times he spoke with others it was about current events or plans. To sit down and talk with someone about things that made him happy was a nice change. "No, it's okay. Call them whatever you like. Though being a spirit user is...a unique experience. It sometimes makes me feel like I'm both human and Digimon...that I belong in both worlds. I don't know, I guess that kind of makes me sound a little conceited."
He tried to change the topic to more details on his spirits "W-well my spirits tend to focus a lot on combat and support. I have a few abilities that can restrain and prevent people from moving...I can help cure wounds or provide defenses...ZenCherubimon is different from my other forms because it focuses a lot on being at a safe distance compared to prior forms."

"Huh." Roger let the topic of Toki's past fights drop as he considered the spirit tamer's reactions. Toki seemed... sad about it. That was weird to the bug. Why be sad about a fight you walked away from? Was it because he had gotten hurt? Wounds healed pretty easily, but then again he was human. Their nigh constant mortality was such a pain to deal with. Both keeping them safe and the way it made them act.
The redhead brightened as Toki mentioned his love for animals, her eyes almost shining as he grinned. "There's a rabbit cafe by my apartment! It was the first time I'd really seen one in person. I always knew they looked soft but I had never realized how soft they were before."
She settled down at the mention of him being a spirit user, her head tilting to the sie. A unique experience...? She could see it! The other spirit wielder she knew had basically swapped roles with his spirits, and she remembered the way his body had shifted and changed. 'Does it feel weird? Does it hurt?' She wondered but held her tongue as she considered Toki's words and his apparent reluctance to talk about it more.
"It sounds as though you have gotten a lot of practice in using your kits." Morgan remaked with an approving nod. "Understanding one's self and one's abilities is key to achieving victory. It can take a lot of time to accomplish that, and to understand what is best used when."
"Eeeh, all this fighting talk is going over my head honestly." Hiroyo waved a hand over her head to illustrate, a grin on her face. She propped herself up with both elbows on the table, hands on her cheeks. "The only fights I've been in have been with overly-drunk ladies who couldn't really stand on their own."
"She works as a greeter and security for a host club in the real world." Morgan explained. He paused while a waiter delivered their drinks.
"It's nothing too serious. Most of the time I'm just escorting people outside when they've gotten too rowdy or handsy. Plus, humans! Not nearly as property destroying the fights here." Hiroyo waved a hand negligently in the air. What she did really wasn't that big of a deal in the face of what went on in the digital world all the time, but everyone here already knew that. "Here I pretty much just stand on the side lines and try to stay out of the way. It'd be nice to do more but I haven't a clue as to what besides maintaining digivolution and not getting hit."

He felt that Roger seemed rather confused, though instead of push the topic further, he felt it was best to move on from such talk. He gave him a little smile to let him know that overall he was doing well. It was difficult to accept his own mortality in situations like this, but it was even more difficult to imagine others being hurt in the event of his death. Toki understood that death was a common fear, but it terrified him specifically. Not for his own safety, but for the emotional well-being of those he cared about. How would it affect them? He sighed a bit, trying not to think about it.
Toki's heart soared at the idea of a rabbit cafe "Oh I'll definitely have to check it out! That sounds amazing." He said, beaming at the thought. "I've never had pets before, but I've always loved animals, even when I wasn't the most sociable of people...though I'm not really sure if I'd have time for a pet...or really anything resembling a normal social life." He said with a heavy sigh.
Toki looked a bit unsure at Morgan's words "I-is it really that big of a deal? I just go with what seems like the best idea for a given situation. Even then it doesn't always work out...I don't really think I'm that special all things considered. There are so many others here in the Digital World that are far better at this than I am."
He listened to Hiroyo's stance on this fight talk "Heheh...sorry, sorry. But you work security? That's got to be exciting. Must be plenty of stories there. Sounds like it could get kind of dangerous too, though..." He said, a little worried.
Hiroyo seemed to be able to handle herself pretty well, though, which was a relief. He thought about what she said about her role in Digimon combat "I mean...I can't really speak from the perspective of a Digimon tamer, but...I expect that's what you need to do. You're there to help your Digimon through empowering them and giving them your moral support. It may not seem like much when comparing yourself to Digimon...but you're invaluable to them. You're the most important thing of all in the equation. Your care and support for them is what leads to these incredible things happening."

"Well, it's a host club so most of what I have to deal with is salaryworkers who have overindulged." Hiroyo mused as she sipped at her drink. She was amused by his praise, lately she hadn't had to do much of the bouncing herself. "More and more though I just act as greeter or sometimes serving things to the table. I suspect I'm getting phased more to a hosting job? I don't know, there's been some rumors of the club changing to be both hosts and hostesses but that seems like a risky venture." She paused to take another sip, her look thoughtful as she considered what else he had said. It was true the main dynamic of being a tamer seemed to be giving her partners power to reach higher forms but surely there was more... "As for the other thing...I'll think on it some more. It's true that's important but...well it doesn't seem to be as easy as just willing myself to do it."
Morgan scoffed quietly at Hiroyo's words and returned to Toki's abilities. He preferred not to talk about even more of their trio's dysfunctions with the spirit wielder even as wise as he was. "That may be the case, and truthfully it is a bit rash for me to praise you without seeing you fight, but from what you have said you have faced many hard battles and are well on your way to mastering your forms."
"Pfft. I mean, don't go beating yourself up but how many people make it as far as you have kid?" Roger asked before he bit down on his straw and started slurping away at his drink. He smacked his beak when he was done and burped before settling back into his seat in contentment. "And honestly, who wants a pet or a social life? Boring, useless critters, and who needs words when you ca-hey!"
Hiroyo pulled her hand away from pinching Roger's cheek and fixed him with a disapproving glare. "At least look away when you burp! Everyone wants a social life of some kind, even if its just one person they can brag to about how they avoid everyone! Don't pretend your any different."
She turned to Toki with an apologetic shrug and then suddenly straightened in her seat. Her eyes brightened and her smile widened and she leaned toward him over the table. "Hey! I've got a great idea, do you want to go to the rabbit cafe together sometime? We can fill two pots with one faucet that way: wanting to be social and admiring the cute rabbit noses.~~ So how about it? Deal?"

Toki took a while to respond, mostly because he really didn't know how to "I-I'll admit I don't know much about business, let alone host and hostess clubs so I couldn't be able to tell you if that's a good idea or not." He said. Hiroyo still looked unsure about her role as a Digimon tamer, wanting to see if there was more she could do. All Toki could do was smile "You'll figure something out. I think you should give yourself a bit more credit, honestly! Just the fact that you're thinking about it shows how much you care about this, so I'm sure you've got this." He said, trying to be as encouraging as possible.
He felt a little better with Morgan's words "I've been through a lot, yeah. I've definitely come a long way from when I first started out. I had a lot of help from friends, my spirit...I'd like to think I became a better person through it all. My spirit, especially, saw a lot in me that I wasn't able to see in myself for a long time."
Just as quickly as Morgan's words cheered him up, Roger managed to make him look away, slightly hurt. "Careful, Roger. Don't downplay the importance of a friend's support. It will save you more often than you realize." He didn't really comment on what he said about pets, as that really upset him.
Hiroyo swiftly scolded Roger for his behavior, so he didn't have to. Then, she suggested that the two of them go to the rabbit cafe together at some point. "You mean that? Wow, I...sure! I'd like that a lot." He said. His smile only grew more genuine and sincere with his gratitude.
Soon enough, their orders came to the table, freshly cooked and looking delicious. "As always, this place doesn't disappoint. Dig in, everyone!" He said as he began to eat. He had ordered a steak, a serving of fries, and a small bowl of sliced fruit. This seemed to be his go to meal here as he looked happy to eat here again.

"Of course I meant it. I'm always down for petting! Its even better when you don't have to pick up after them, I mean, if I owned a rabbit I would but with life over here..." Hiroyo vaguely gestured to indicate the hectic-ness of trying to keep a regular human world animal safe in the digital world. "As it is, I've got my hands full keeping up with these two."
Roger stuck out his tongue then quickly pulled it back in when the server arrived with the food. A plate of golden brown chicken strips and heaps of fries was place in front of Roger. For Morgan there was a slab of glazed meat medalions on a bed of edible flowers. Hiroyo's meal was a salad of various shades of greens and brightly colored vegetables mixed in, and a bowl of creamy broccoli soup.
The red head licked her lips as the server put everything down in front of them, giving the waitstaff a happy grin with her 'thanks for the food!' before she unwrapped her utensils. She speared what looked like a bright red cherry tomato and took a big bite, a tear escaping before she swallowed and let out a content sigh.
"Ah, so deliciously hot! You're right, this place is really good. Ordering can be a pain when you don't know the ingredients, but I think I've gotten the hang of it." She said as she happily stabbed some leaves dripping with dressing of some sort and then crunched down.
Roger snickered and pulled a french fry off with the tip of his beak before flipping it into the air a short distance above his plant and snapping his beak shut on it. "You mean, you've gotten use to ordering super-spicy food! First week we hung out with her somehow she managed to order the spiciest stuff on the menu every day~"
"Yeah well, its not like you were very helpful! Morgan's the only dependable one. If my tastes are weird now it's totally your fault." She shot back, her cheeks turning pink. It was definately from the tiny-spicy tomatos on her salad, not because she was embaressed!
Morgan chuckled and carefully cut his medallions into pieces before eating them. He was a lot neater and more careful than his brother but that was probably due to the whole 'having appendages' thing, even if those appendages were more like pincers than hands. "It might have been mean, but you did not come to any harm from it and now you know what is what."
"Pft, Its true but hearing it from you is silly." Hiroyo said before turning to Toki and raising her eyebrows at his steak. She glanced down at her salad and soup then at his steak again a little wistfully."Oooh, that looks so good! I feel like I haven't been eating enough veggies lately so I went for the salad but I guess I'll have to get it next time."

"It's been a while since I've had a chance to just sit down and eat, so I figured I should get some protein while I was here." He said as he cut out another piece of his steak. He chuckled a bit "I can understand how it'd be hard to raise a pet with so much going on with the Digital World."
Toki shrugged a bit as Hiroyo talked about how her tastes in food might be a bit weird "I don't see anything wrong with liking spicy foods. We all got different tastes. I for one can't really stand things that are too bitter." He shudders a bit just thinking about it.
He wondered what to talk about next for a moment. He took a sip of his drink and looked thoughtful. "If our worlds continue to interact with each other, I wonder how they'll influence each other. I personally think we've got a lot we can learn from each other. Our companionship, our philosophies...the discussions are there. I just hope our worlds communicate peacefully soon."
Then, he had another idea "So, Morgan...Roger...what about the Human World has stood out to you the most so far? Anything you'd like to know more about?" He said, wanting to push the conversation towards something positive and productive. He hoped he wasn't asking something personal, but this kind of topic could be good for them to consider.
Honestly, despite how different the three seem from each other, it was oddly interesting to see. Everyone was different. Different eating habits, different preferences, different personalities. It brought him some kind of peace of mind, considering it reaffirmed to him that they were all still people, regardless if they were human or Digimon.

With a smile Hiroyo shrugged her shoulders at the comment about tastes. While liking spicy foods wasn't weird, wasn't liking it because you kept accidentally ordering it weird? Honestly she was too glad he didn't think it was weird to bring it up further.
Her eyebrows raised as he asked his question of Morgan and Roger and she leaned forward to take a slow drink to hide her smile at the pause it brought both of the two. It was a good question and something that had never occured to her to ask before!
She watched out of the corner of her eye as Morgan put down the piece of medallion he had been about to eat to think with his head tilted to the side. Roger furiously munched on his current beak-full of french fries and she noted with a little frownt he way his antenna wiggled in a way she associated now with his own brand of shenanigans.
"I think the hardest aspect for me to grasp originally was how your world is so imaginative. Your movies, your stories, your-"
"Whycan'tHiroyohaveboysoveratherapartment??? Last time we were a bit noisy and her roommate knocked on the door and was all 'you're not sneaking dudes in here right? 'cause we both agreed but if you want to change the agreement we have to talk about it first' and she lied about talking to people on the laptop while Morgan and I hid on her bed!"
Hiroyo wheezed with surprise and promptly made a horrified face as she felt her drink attempt to climb her sinuses. She threw her head backwards immediately so she was looking up and and clamped her thumb and index finger over her nose. She could hear Roger cackling and could visual Morgan's Very Well Deserved eye roll at his brother's antics while she felt herself blush.
"I believe that to be a rather personal question that doesn't deserve a response." He said pointedly. Roger just snickered and flipped a piece of chicken into the air before catching it with a snap of his beak.
"S'okay! Just, ah, caught me off guard." Hiroyo said as she lowered her head and her hand. She gave her head a little shake then forcefully blinked several times before she seemed to have reset herself back to normal. The blush had faded from her cheeks, really she didn't find the topic embaressing, just the 'almost sneezing liquids' part of the conversation. "That's an us thing though, just, keeping non long term boyfriends out of the apartment keeps it from getting awkward. What were you saying, Morgan?"
Morgan stared at her for a moment with a bland expression and she silently thanked him for being a sensible sort even as she gesture for him to take the attention away already please. He nodded slowly then turned to Toki with a serious expression.
"As I was saying before I was so rudely interuppted," Roger snickered around his beakful of chicken while radiating and aura of smug. "Hmph. Your world. Your..entertainment. We of course have plays and theatre and art but yours seems to be much more developed. And the array of styles, of-of types I think they are called? Forgive me, I know someone who watched a lot of what he called 'Westerns' but I'm not quite certain what the proper term is. My point however is that there is so much of it despite the excitement to be had in your world as it currently exists. It is intriguing."

Toki was about to listen in on Morgan's question before Roger suddenly blurted out a stream of words that he could barely keep up with about why boys couldn't come to Hiroyo's apartment. "...Eh?" Was the only noise he could make at the question. That was something he was completely incapable of answering in any meaningful manner. He panicked slightly, fussing over Hiroyo as she seemed to inhale some of her drink in shock. "C-come on, Roger! That's not something you just casually....ask! Not to anyone!" He said, looking only the slightest bit annoyed, though it was more stern disapproval than actual anger. He huffed slightly as it seemed it was Roger's intention to embarrass Hiroyo.
He was relieved when Hiroyo recovered from this little incident. Still, he didn't have too much to say on the subject as it wasn't really his business. She let Morgan continue what he was going to say. It seemed he was fascinated by the human world's entertainment and imagination, of which he couldn't deny. "You have no idea. There's so much out there in terms of creative thought. Cultures all over the world have their own stories, all shaped by their different cultures or just the stories they really wanted to tell. Westerns...those are really popular in America since they're all based on a small period in their history...though it's heavily romanticized of course. Still, they're a lot of fun to watch."
"I guess you could say humans place a lot of value on creative thought, at least the more free-spirited ones. There's no shortage of brilliant musicians, playwrights, directors, artists, and writers. I dabble a little bit in writing, but I haven't really done anything with my ideas yet." He admitted. He continued eating a bit before continuing "I guess in a way we're like Digimon. We're tenacious and stubborn, always looking for some way to better ourselves or make ourselves known to the wider world. We're an expressive folk."

Ah, his attempt at brevity had fallen flat. Roger didn't need the withering look Morgan turned his way, the reactions of the humans' were enough. Still he just shrugged off the scolding. He had expected Hiroyo to be embaressed but he had been hoping for red-faced embarred flailing Hiroyo!
Whatever. He picked up another piece of meat and flipped it into his beak properly. It was delicious and he briefly played the game of 'bushmeat or import meat' before having to sadly conclude that due to price point it was far more likely to be the former. It still tasted just as good as the latter, he honestly couldn't tell the difference between it and chicken he had in the analog world!
He'd have to pester the other two to come back here more often. The menu had promised an 'Unbelievable Burger' that had a patty made of mushrooms that promised to take just like actual bushmeat.
Toki was really getting into the discussion about entertainment, and a quick twitch of the antenna told him that Morgan and Hiroyo were too. Most anything on a screen wasn't really his thing but he could get behind some of the music he had heard.
"Like us? Pfft," Roger snorted at the silliness of the idea. Of course the two groups were similiar, it was blatantly obvious why. "We pretty much came from all of what you just said, I'd be surprised if we couldn't get along at all!"
He said it as if it was the most obvious thing in the world but apparently from the contemplative position Morgan took his brother was giving it waaay more thought than it needed. Roger didn't think Hiroyo had realized it at all, and from the way she was turning to look at him and the Toki (he could feel the air currents change, a small and subtle shift) he knew she hadn't realized that.
"Wait, what? Like, you guys crawled out of pictures or movies or something?"
Morgan made an annoyed sound at having to put his own thinking on hold and Roger just sipped at his drink with all the smugness a caterpillar could put into the action. Mission accomplished, Hiroyo got a knowledge and Morgan got to show off how much he knew!
And he got to begin on his fries as the Fanbeemon started his exposition.
"There is a line of thought that our world, this world, was created by as a shadow of the Human World." The Fanbeemon explaiend. He didn't look like he believed it though and he looked from Hiroyo to Toki as he spoke. "I do not know if I buy into such claims. There are similiarities, yes, but I think this world already existed somewhere and your world was more of an...influencing factor."
"You just don't wanna feel beholdened to 'umans." Roger pointed out as he took another smug gulp of his drink. Morgan twitched his antennta in 'annoyance' 'anger' 'quiet' and Roger just slurped more loudly as his brother sighed and rubbed the side of his face. There was no shame in not wanting to have to admit someone else made you all that you were, especially if it was as loud and chaotic a group as humans.
He really didn't care one way or the other and so didn't see why Morgan tried to hide it so much.
"Oh. What do you think Toki? Have you heard about this befor?"

Toki continued to enjoy his meal as the others talked and reacted to what he had said. Though this raised an interesting question to the group. What exactly is the Digital World at the end of the day? Was it something actually created by humanity? Or did humanity's development bridge a gap between the two realms? It was a fascinating discussion, but one that could definitely step on a few toes if the wrong thing was said.
The idea that Digimon came to the human world through modern technology raised questions on who were the first humans to encounter them? Who were some of the first humans in the Digital World? That's the sort of history he'd love to know. "Do any of you know who might have been the first to come here? I mean, my parents were and still are somewhat involved with the Digital World. I guess it runs in the family, if that's a thing that happens." He said, a little unsure. "It's just a bit of history I think would be fascinating to get into at some point. Knowing our roots together and all that."
He wondered about the implications if humans were responsible for the Digital World's overall creation "Though to be honest, I haven't really heard of or thought about the theory that humans helped shape the Digital World. Even if humans hypothetically did create the Digital World, that doesn't mean you're obligated to them. You have your own will and autonomy, therefore you are your own beings. Anyone who tries to argue otherwise is no friend of mine."
He sighed a bit as he took another drink "I'm of the mind that all sentient beings are equal on a fundamental level. Despite my abilities as a spirit user, I'm the same as anyone else. I just happen to have some cool tricks up my sleeve. I understand that my way of thinking doesn't quite resonate with certain people, and that makes me worried about the future of both worlds."
Toki understood that this topic was a bit heavy, so he would let it drop there if it must "Either way, I'm just going through life day by day, doing what I can. One thing's for certain, I'm eternally grateful to the Digital World for shaping the person I am today. I was in a bit of a bad place before, but my adventures here helped me come to terms with a lot of things. I also met a lot of great people!"

Hiroyo enjoyed her food as the conversation moved safely to a topic everyone could discuss without trying to one-up anyone else or embaress them. If there was danger tot he topic she didn't see it: it was just like wondering what had finished off the dinosaurs to her but in like reverse.
What created the digimon? Who were the first ones here?
She shook her head at the questiona bout knowing who the first humans into the Digital world was and filed the tidbit about his family being involved with digimon away for another time. It was an interesting fact but the questions she had about it were all really basic that didn't fit the current mood! Maybe next time she met Toki she could ask then if they weren't busy.
"Hm. It is strange, I have never really considered who were the first ones to bridge the gap. Nor have I heard anyone refer to them." Morgan remarked as he tapped the underside of his beak thoughtfully. Hiroyo filed away the obvious delight he was considering the conversation with for later. Maybe they could have a day where they just spent it in a library or trying to track down the answer, he seemed like he'd like that and it'd be a good bonding experience! "A question for you though, do you think it possible that we crossed over into your world first? And depending on which direction travel first began, does that lend credence to that world existing first or merely where the door opened?"
Roger gulped down another chicken strip then gave a very decisive nod and flick of his antenna at Toki's words about will and...autonomy? Roger didn't know what that was but he'd ask Morgan later. The closest he could get was 'auto as in automatic door' so maybe that Digimon were stand alone entities? Close enough! "You got it Toki! No matter what happened we're not dolls that are gonna do everything a human says. That'd be super boring, and insulting too! Like, we've got our own things we wanna do. I want to fight a Demon Lord! Maybe not Lilithmon exactly, and probably not to reformatting or anything but at least one of 'em!" He added hastily as Hiroyo's face darkened.
She smiled ruefully at his words and gave a little nod. "I appreciate it. And like, I think I get what you're saying! There's people out there who can do cool stuff like magic tricks but they shouldn't use that power for stealing or stuff, yeah? Even if they had real magic." It was a bit simplistic run down of Toki's comments about his ability as a spirit user but it worked for her! She didn't even have to worry that he would mind, she'd chatted with him enough by now to understand what kind of person he was. Or at least she was pretty positive she did.
She hummed thoughtfully and put a finger on her chin, an unconscious mimic of Morgan's earlier pose. Or had that been a copy of her from before? Either way it was an unconsious bit of mirroring that the two had picked up things from each other, even if unconsciously.
"Mm. It is odd to consider how power can change how much one can do, or theoretically could do to change things." Morgan remarked. Then he sighed like the old man at heart he was and shook his head. "Right now though I believe it is best to focus on making it through the current events. While it is tempting to want to try to push to change the world for the better, who knows what consequences might come from our actions?" He broke off into a yawn and looked out the window, blinking a few minutes in surprise as he stared at the darkness that had fallen outside. The conversation had been (mostly) so pleasant that his normal time sense seemed to have evaporated. "...Well, that is a surprise. It is dark out."
"Eh? Really?" Roger asked, turning his face to the window in a mirror of Hiroyo's actions. He had an air of expectant smugness that all but radiated off him and Hiroyo braced herself for another awkward comment. "I guess so, I can't see a thing."
Morgan gave his brother a disapproving look that screamed 'really?' while Hiroyo groaned and put her head down on the table. It was better than she had been expecting but whyyyy?

Toki thought about what Morgan suggested about Digimon being the first ones to bridge the gap "You know that's a very big possibility...but if that's the case I find it hard to believe that there wouldn't be any news stories from a long time ago on that...maybe it was kept secret or the footage is long gone. Hm..." He looked thoughtful. That raised more questions than anything, but it was an interesting possibility.
He smiled at Roger's fundamental understanding of what he said "Exactly! Humans may be partnered with Digimon, but that's the key word isn't it? Partner. Partners work together, give and take, and support one another. It's not a one-sided deal." He said, finishing up his meal. He took another drink of his tea and sighed, satisfied with the meal and conversation.
Toki seemed happy to hear Hiroyo's take on his abilities and compared it to those who have interesting tricks of their own. Just because people can do something that could allow them to take advantage of others doesn't mean they should. He nodded in agreement. "Hey, that makes perfect sense. Thanks...it means a lot to hear that sort of view."
Toki shrugged at Morgan's statement "I'm not trying to actively change the world. Forcing such a thing never works. It has to be a natural flow, and doing what we can for others around us is the perfect way to nurture a better environment. I'm not trying to push for fast, extreme changes."
He looked outside as he finished his tea "Oh wow, it is getting dark, isn't it? I should probably be on my way shortly." He said. "Is there anything else you need before I get going?" He asked with a smile. He seemed to get along with her and her Digimon pretty well, and that pleased Toki.

A peek to one side proved that Morgan was enjoying himself and taking time to muse over the Toki's words thoughtfully before replying. A glance to the other side showed her that Roger was tearing through his food as quickly as possible to talk to Toki and Hiroyo found her mouth quirking up in amusement.
It was a shame the day was coming to a close but everyone had somewhere to be. They had lodgings to return to and Toki probably had to wander off into the sunset to fish some poor baby-mon out of a well or something. She wasn't sure if digimon used wells but it seemed like the kind of do-gooder act he'd do! That or helping old digimon cross the street while carrying their groceries.
"We should do this again sometime." She replied when Toki asked. She settled her gaze back on the other human at the table with a smile. It took her only a little bit of rooting around in her purse before she pulled out her digivice.
"Would you be okay with swapping contacts with me? You seem like you know a lot. Also I guess we could let you know if we hear of anything super shady going on?" She offered. Morgan nodded his agreement, he looked pretty pleased with the idea. The Fanbeemon had enjoyed getting the chance to have a good, semi-philosophical conversation with someone he didn't spend ninety percent of his time with.
"If it would not be a hassle, it is nice to meet a level headed individual such as yourself."
Roger snorted and chewed on his straw. "I just want to see you rabbit-out at someone sometime." He confessed, completely unashamedly. "I don't get to watch a lot of fights with people who really know what they're doing so it'd be nice."
Hiroyo threw him a disapproving look and pursed her lips then shook her head. It wasn't the worst thing to wish she supposed. "Only if you're hopping into the ring with him."
Morgan threw her a look and she shrugged her shoulder as she fished a bit-stick out of her pocket to hand to the waiter to pay for the bill. To her surprise it was Roger who spoke to her defense with an eager nod of his head.
"Yeah! We can spar when we reach higher! It's good to test limits but it's not like I wanna be stupid about it."
