Ain't No Mountain- Demon Lords 1E (Ophelia, Zachary, Arthur)

Panthermon turned to Arthur with an irritated look. "I'm a hellcat digimon-- not a furnace," he growled-- but it was at that moment did everyone noticed the black flames on his body suddenly simmered, and went out. "Uh-oh..."
Zachary, who was now hugged by the adorable Spadamon, Ophellia, looked to see his partner's fire went out on his body. "Oh no..." Zachary said, more disappointed than worried as he saw it go.
"Don't worry. Just give me a few minutes and I can ignite again, but I cannot keep the flames going forever. It does take energy to use." Panthermon explained.
Zachary did give some thought to the situation if they needed to heat up the cables. The entire procedure of working the lift was an issue. HOwever, it was at that moment Zachary was distracted by something he saw. He rose up from Ophellia and looked to the window. He saw the wind and snow begin to lift a good amount. THough frigid outside, the wind was letting up and the snow was coming down far less. But what got him was something he used his goggles for-- thinking he might have been seeing a trick of the sun against the snow. It wasn't just letting up, he saw the wind blow the snow inward-- focused to the top of the mountain. He paused for a moment, his thoughts wondering what he just saw. Things in the digital world defied logic from the real world, but he learned to trust what he saw.
"We don't have much time. The snow has letted up. If we are going to use the lift-- we have to use it soon before the storm lets up. I think the source of this entire stupid blizzard is unnatural and focused at the top. If we can get there, we can stop it too," Zachary explained, looking at the group. Still, he knew also they couldn't just up and leave-- not till they knew that Mojiamon would be safe and recover. He bit his lip, unsure how to proceed.
Still they also needed to form the right plan to work the lift and heat the cables. He tried to think. Panthermon couldn't use his Hellcat cloak immediately, and even with his fire attacks, he doubt he could heat the cables-- at least stretching the entirety of the cable's length up the mountain. Something to cause heat... fire or electricity....
Zachary's eyes widened then, as something came to mind. "Wait a minute. That's it. Hey Arthur... Um, Mr. Yeti? " Zachary said, unsure really what the digimon was called. "Is it possible for us to fix the lift properly if we electrify the cable? Would that reinforce and heat up the lift to work?"
He didn't know how Arthur could use his spirits-- but he knew one thing he had that could work. Before the others, he reached into his coat pocket now placed against the cabin-- and took out the ugly-looking black digitama. However, as they would see it, it was pretty clear what it was. The black and blue colored markings, the jagged spike in front, and the crest of friendship placed upon it.
The Digi-egg of Friendship-- related to Lightning elemental armor evolution.
(OOC: Panthermon's Hellcat Cloak is now on cooldown 1/2. Zachary notices and announce the lift in the weather and what might be causing it. They will have to act soon or miss their window of opportunity. While he still wants to help Mojiyamon-- he realizes something that could help run the lift-- using a Lightning powered digimon to energize the lift and heat up the cable by electricity. If correct, i will bring out the armor cat)

The bubbles splattered over Mojyamon in sync, a relieving mist drifting out as they popped. A few of the ice crystals over Mojyamon's fur started to dissipate, and the blue tone to his skin started to ease to its usual fleshy color. Even his skin felt a bit less cold to the touch. Now he no longer looked like he was on the edge of a frigid death.
He did, however, still look asleep. In fact, with the color coming back to his skin it was all the more apparent how long he had been out for. His lips were somewhat chapped, and drool seemed to be caked around the sides of his face. The bags under his eyes were so dark and heavy that they almost looked like a third eyelid. At this point, the sleep had to be anything but restful. And yet, here Mojyamon sat, continuing to rasp, snore, and wheeze.
"I mean that you're spending far too long chasing far too much," Mojyamon said. "You're gonna go to the top of the mountain. And what are you gonna find there? More cold. More noise. More snow. And every time you try to move it, you'll just realize there's more snow underneath. And all the while it just keeps falling, undoing everything you've tried to do. And the more it falls, the softer it'll get. Kind of like a pillow, you know?
Trust me. After enough time, you'll take the pillow."
True to the Mojyamon's words, nothing really changed outside. The snow continued to touch down in the same few places. The halo of winds continued to orbit the mountain. The mists continued to settle in front of the sun, obscuring its light. At this point, Ophelia, Arthur, and Zachary would know exactly what to expect. Yet, how much help was knowing when the same things happened over and over?
He didn't even turn to acknowledge Zachary, yet answered his question all the same. "Lightning, fire, rubbing it really fast. Heat is heat," he said. "But no matter what, there's always going to be more falling.
What do you hope to accomplish here?"
Inclement Conditions - Still pretty much same ol', same ol'.

Cassie couldn't help a faint frown at the Mojyamon's words. It all kind of sounded depressing, honestly - and even she couldn't help but wonder the same questions that the Mojyamon raised. Ophelia wasn't sold though - and she'd glance to the Mojyamon. "A lot of that talk sounds like hypothermia talk, if I'm gonna be damn well honest." She'd bluntly respond. "I'm used to the snow. Cassie here's used to the snow. It ain't new shit, it's just the quantity that is. We're looking for something up there - and that something's most likely the cause of this fucky weather, if not the guy behind it." Ophelia would give the Mojyamon a sharp gaze - it was clear she wasn't easily fazed by even the yeti-mon's downer talk. In fact, it seemed to piss her off a little. "And if the guy ain't there? Then we've narrowed it down. It's still damn well something, even if you want to be a party pooper. But being a party pooper doesn't change fuckall - you'll do more by focusing on warming up and waking the hell up some. And if you don't like the snow, then you're more than welcome to move when this is all over."
She'd instead glance to Arthur and Zachary. In regard to Arthur's remark to countermeasures, Ophelia mentioned "I imagine the weather's never gotten this bad for this long - let alone only a 'mon seeking a frozen death would be going skiing - or whatever the hell they do here - in this weather, unless they're native to here, but even then... Logically, we should be huddled up in dens waiting out the cold - but I got a feeling that this cold ain't about to pass like normal." Cassie would peer out one of the windows, adding "Yeah, I don't recall the last time we've ever had weather like this - I don't think Mom or Dad would, either..." The two sister mons would fall quiet for a moment at the mention of their parents - Ophelia knew that they would know what the hell they were doing in this type of weather, but she still hoped they were okay.
"Hey. Speaking of cold though... I doubt either of ya are much adapted to the cold, with no fur or visible blubber and all, and neither are you Panthermon, most likely, with you being more of a fiery digimon..." Ophelia began. "... But how used to or familiar are you guys with the cold? I want to make sure we're all on the same page on what to do if something goes fucky while we're on the road. I'd rather we hash out how to handle this shit here and now so that we're prepared, as opposed to me having to scream it at you guys over the winds or whatever." Her tone was firm and serious - even Cassie couldn't help but stand to attention, even though Ophelia was talking to the other three more than her; the serious tone reminding her of their mother. "Me and Cassie, we grew up deeper in the mountains. We know how to handle the cold, we know how to handle the dangers of the mountains of something goes south."

Arthur sucked on his teeth in frustration as Panthermon's flaming coat sputtered out and died. It seemed that the Digimon couldn't keep up his heat ability for very long. That might prove troublesome if they needed to maintain heat on the cables. He was back to chewing on his thumb as he tried to develop a new plan to get the cables in working order. His free hand fiddled with his Digivice, the idea of changing into Guardromon seeming more and more like a good option. Arti looked back at Mojyamon as the Yeti-like Digimon answered Zachary's question, not really liking the discouragement the Digimon had to offer. So, he chose to ignore it. They had a mission and no washed up ski lift operator would stop that.
"Electricity can be used to heat up wires, but you'll have to make sure the current is low enough for the resistance in the cables to generate a high amount of heat," Arthur explained in Mojyamon's place. "There's potential for us to continually heat up the cable as the ski lift moves, but we'll have to superheat the entire cable initially so it melts any snow and ice already on it." He looked at Ophelia as she began to speak, shaking his head at her question about the cold.
"I've lived in warm places most of my life, so I don't have much experience with the cold. But there's not point in complaining about the cold when waiting it out isn't currently in the cards," he replied, drawing his D-Tector out from his pocket and raising up his right hand. A small data stream formed around it, circling it slowly as he looked back at Zachary and Panthermon. "I can help with trying to keep the cables heated up, but it'll take longer and might not work as well as straight heat."
As he spoke, he placed the top of the D-Tector against the data stream and swiped down quickly. The stream extended out, circling around his entire body and digitizing his clothes as it engulfed him. Once enveloped, Arthur could metal beginning to encase his body, both strengthening his body and making it extremely heavy. Finally, out of the top of the body encasing, a helmet formed around his head, fully changing the young man into Guardromon.
The data stream disappeared, revealing the transformed Spirit User to the others. "Whenever you're ready to go, we can start defrosting the cable," Arthur said, his voiced similar to his regular one, but sounding robotic and tinny.

Replying to Ophelia's comment regarding experience in the snow, Zachary glanced at the mini-talking lion and her sister. "I did go skiing a few times with my family. Naturally the goal is to avoid dehydrating and over extending yourself on the slope. Its just as dangerous as being in a desert. Not to mention what to do to stay warm. " Zachary explained as he glanced back at the mountain peek. "There just has to be some safe way to get up there. "
Before Arthur did what he had to do-- a thought crossed Zachary's mind when he remembered the Demon lords. Mojiamon's passive and pessimistic attitude towards them. It was then he remembered something regarding the demon lord's origins. "Maybe the snow isn't the only thing the demon lord is causing here. Correct me if I am wrong, but don't the demon lords influence and represents the 'seven deadly sins'. " Zachary proposed, making Panthermon's head goes up at the mention of it. Had the cat not even mentioned Dante's work, Zachary might of missed it. "Pride, Envy, Sloth... what if the demon digimon isn't just causing the storm, but using it also to influence it. And considering our fuzzy freezing friend here... I'm willing to bet its Sloth in this case. "
He turned but jumped with a shout ath the sight of Arthur transforming from a regular human like him-- into a mechanized digimon. That was a treat and Panthermon jumped up in surprise, his fur on end with a cautious growl. When they saw it was in fact Arthur, Zachary calmed down, realizing all his theories meant nothing if they couldn't press forward. "I do have an idea how we can find one another if we get lost, but let's not entertain the idea of getting lost. Worst case, Panthermon can send up a flare for us to find and follow. "
With the time come to act, Zachary picked up his jacket and slipped it back on. "Panthermon, you ready?" he asked.
The black cat digimon rose to his feet and his eyes glowed with fiery determination. "You bet. Just say the word."
As they followed the Guardromon to help him charge and warm up the machine, Zachary held onto the Digimental of Friendship waiting for them to get to the machine before charging it up and Panthermon with it.
(Explains he has some travel experience in cold: not to get dehydrated or lost-- but they could use Panthermon for flares to use if they get lost from eachother. Further, Zachary suspects Mojyamon's behavior isn't just the cold, but perhaps the demon lord having an influence over the seven sins-- Sloth in this case. As Arthur goes to start charging up the machine and cables, Zachary followed with Panthermon, prepared to armor digivolve and charge when he does. Next post-- Panthermon's Hellfire CLoak will be usable again)

"Hypothermia of the soul, really," the Mojyamon said. His usual sleepy tone lit up, amused as Ophelia took a sword to his more metaphorical statement.
This amusement only got more noticeable at Zachary's intuition, the Mojyamon's snores now interposed with laughter. "I was wondering when you'd notice," he added, the Mojyamon's eyelids slowly creaking open. The eyes beneath were dry, red, and irritated, but most noticeable of all was the unfocused way in which they stared straight forward. It was as if the slightest push would get them rolling around in Mojyamon's head. "I could've told you before, but why waste the effort? Not like me being up there's going to dissuade you. No, that's not how it works. People can't dissuade people. They're all much too stubborn for that.
The real adversary's the one inside. I'm just a symptom, I guess."
The Mojyamon yawned, opening its mouth so wide that its face practically stretched apart. As it did so, the winds outside started howling. Powdery snow leaked through any crack in the windows that the trio had previously patched up, ice crystal tinkling as they rained on the cabin's wooden floorboards. Looser pieces of furniture shook as the wind pounded against them, finally falling away to leave small gaps in the blockades. Seeing through these gaps was nigh-impossible: the storm had returned to its previous whiteout conditions. The temperature in the room started to drop quickly, and yet Mojyamon sat unperturbed through it all. Even as snow showered him and his table, he didn't move a muscle.
"I think I'm done borrowing this one," Sloth said, his voice starting to fade behind Mojyamon's loud snoring and the wind's increasing howling. "No sense watching anymore when I'm sure I know what you're gonna do. But hey. Maybe you'll surprise me." And with that, the Demon Lord's voice finally faded away.
Outside, the cable cars would be swinging haphazardly along their rail. Even in the docking station, the winds battered them around in every direction. Their cables groaned in protest with each strike. The last windstorm was over fairly quickly, but how much longer would this one last? Was it better to prime the cables now so their ascent could finish before any more storms could kick up, or was it better to wait for who-knows-how-long and avoid having to deal with the elements?
Inclement Conditions - Still pretty much same ol', same ol'. A Cold Wind Blows - After two posts of respite, the wind starts back up anew. It seems to appear in fairly regular intervals . . . or perhaps a certain intuition has made it pop back up? At this point, it's fairly unclear.

Ophelia hummed a bit, but nodded in response to Zachary. So Arthur basically knew jack shit, but Zachary knew a bit. "Well, I'll explain here and now then - heat is our most valuable commodity out there. If you begin getting too cold, you start getting frostbite and hypothermia - which is probably gonna be our biggest worry. Most digimon, unless they're already icy or snowy like a Frigimon, are gonna be snuggling up in their dens with their mates and children, if they have any. We don't got that luxury, at least not while we're on the road. Don't be afraid to stick close to someone for warmth - even if it's someone you don't know. As far as hypothermia goes, keep an eye on your shivering. If you can control it, you're fine. If you can't stop your shivering, that's worrisome but not immediately dangerous. If you find yourself unable to shiver though, that's a bad sign."
Cassie would chirp up then, adding "Oh- impaired movement and thinking's bad, too - if you can't think as straight, or if a friend seems really out of it like Mojyamon over there, that's hypothermia too!" She'd continue "I can heal to repair the damage that the cold can do to your body - but it won't warm you back up, so I think if someone's getting hypothermia, we'd be best off finding shelter - like digging out an igloo or hiding out in an empty den - and warming them back up while I heal them." Ophelia would nod in agreement; regardless of whatever the hell was going on here, even she knew rushing this was going to put herself - and those around her - in danger.
"The storming's gonna be a pretty damn big issue, too; you don't know just how easy it is to get lost in a whiteout, until you get caught in one." She mentioned. "You can't see more than a foot in front of ya, and I imagine that any light gets kind of drowned out in all of the snow; it's very much a whiteout." She would emphasize, waving a hand in front of her face as though to convey just how far - or more appropriately, how short - your vision is in such conditions. "If we get caught in a whiteout, best thing to do is to not wander off and get lost n' separated; let me or Panthermon there sniff everyone out and get everyone together so that nobody wanders off on their..."
... Ophelia would trail off a bit, as she glanced to Arthur. One thing that should be made clear here and now, is that Ophelia actually had no fucking clue about spirit users. For all she knew, humans were kinda like soft squishy not-quite-Rookies that oftentimes needed another digimon to look after them, unless they were like Ryouta - who was strong and able to at least hold his ground to a certain degree. Hence, she was a little confused when Arthur had come along on his own. And so, seeing a human suddenly become a Guardromon...
All Ophelia could do, was point to Arthur, and ask "Wh.... What the fuck was that???" Cassie, similarly was dumbstruck - quietly staring at Arthur, before glancing to Ophelia. "Since when could humans do that??" "I don't know!" Ophelia exclaimed in response, throwing her hands in the air. "Humans split their rooms depending on girls and boys, they don't come from eggs, and apparently now some of them can become digimon, too!" Sure, the thought that Arthur might've been a guardromon in a holosuit occurred to her - she'd heard of such things, before - but that still didn't explain why only now he appeared to be a digimon to her senses, didn't digimon in holosuits usually sense like digimon too???
Ryouta was going to get so many fucking questions after this was all over. Cassie seemed to share this sentiment to a small degree, "Humans are cool, but they're confusing too..." She'd sigh to herself.
Either way, the Mojyamon's lazy laughter in response to Zachary's musings would draw Ophelia's attention - glancing to the yeti-digimon. She didn't quite catch on immediately that this Mojyamon wasn't necessarily himself - at least... Not until the winds began to kick up once more. "Oh goddammit!" She'd exclaim as the winds began leaking in again - she and Cassie would both immediately get to work blocking the drafts and cracks once more, the (metaphorically) fiery lioness shouting, presumably at the storm and at Sloth "Can you fucking not?!?!" Cassie couldn't help but give Ophelia a slightly amused look, "Maybe we should calm down a bit..." "I'm surrounded by confusing bullshit on all sides, like hell I'm about to calm down!"
Even with her anger though, Ophelia was thinking on the fly, on what might be a better way to plug up the drafts. She thought back to her sparring with Ryouta, using her ice to reinforce the training sword whilst it was cracking - and for a moment, she wondered; what if she treated this house like one big sword?
Okay, maybe it didn't make sense on paper - but in her head, it made sense to her.
She would try to exert that same energy that she did whenever she used her more icy attacks; and would try to conjure that very ice to fill in the gaps. Theoretically, this would be more stable than the previous barricades they used - cause the ice would anchor itself in place in the gaps, right? All the while though, she could hear the sounds of the creaking cables and swinging cable cars - Ophelia glanced to the window, even though she couldn't see the rails - "That doesn't sound safe." She'd comment a little with a low growl. Cassie couldn't help but murmur a soft "Yeah..." in agreement. She didn't know if she exactly wanted to try her luck with the cable cars if the storms were gonna batter them around like this...

Arthur blinked as Ophelia and Cassie went into a whole description of what hypothermia was and how to respond and deal with it. He guessed saying he had no experience with the cold, they must have thought he considered snow some kind of scary devil magic. His father, whenever he was home on leave, liked to school him survival skills and other things he had learned in the Marines, alongside what he had picked up from his stint in Boy Scouts and from movies, gave him some knowledge of how hypothermia and cold injuries worked to some degree. But, he kept his mouth shut. There was no point in trying to "Ackshually" an explanation about how much he knew about the cold.
Which appeared to be the best idea, since he would have to go through some pretty impressive mental gymnastics to make an explanation about how he was able to transform into a Digimon, since he didn't really understand it himself. From what he had gathered, the spirit of a Digimon that had failed to resurrect when it had died, with its Spirit instead entering Arti's Digivice before it clattered to his desk not long ago. Arthur watched as he flexed his own fingers before shrugging. "I can't really tell you myself, honestly. Somehow, I have access to a dead Digimon's Spirit and, somehow, I can merge myself with the Spirit and turn into that Digimon," Arthur replied, instinctively scratching his head, though all that happened were his metal fingers clanking against his metal head ineffectively.
If Arthur said he was surprised that Mojyamon was revealed to be controlled by some outside force, he would be lying. While it wasn't an overtly aggressive force, it was definitely still malicious. At least now it made sense why he was being discouraging towards them in pursuing the Demon Lord. "Well, that pretty much all but confirms that he's on the mountain," Arti said, sighing in frustration. He looked over to Zachary and Panthermon, jerking his head as an indicator to follow him as he headed outside to the ski lift to get a look at wires.

Zachary's mind went to that scary movie of the Exorcist when the Mojiyamon began to act oddly. Panthermon growled in warning as he saw the new change in the seemingly gloomy yeti digimon and pretty much made him a channel to talk. It seemed Zachary's suspicions were right on the money. Not only did the Demon Lord have control over the storm, but was using it to spread its power of "sloth' on others.
Panthermon growled in anger at the demon lord. "Coward! " he snarled in his feral state, "YOu rather bury us in snow than face us yourself!"
WHile Zachary was beginning to regret being right, it was then that the snow and wind began to blow into the house once more. The measures they made, including Zachary's blocking with his jacket became undone and the chill began to spread into the small house. "Oh, not again!" he cried.
On instinct, and just in time with his energy-- Panthermon let out a fierce growl and his Hellcat Cloak came right back on in an eruption of fire. The initial shock staved off the chilly wind and kept his companions warm-- enough for Ophelia to get to work plugging it up with her own icy patches.
As that staved off the cold, Zachary felt it would be reckless to just go out in a frenzy, like Ophelia warned. However, he also knew staying in one place was the definition of sloth. If they stayed here, they would be fighting the cold indefinitely and have no way to get up the mountain. Now that the demon lord was aware of their presence, they wouldn't give them much time either.
"Look we can't waste our time . Panthermon and I will help Arthur see if we can get that thing defrosted and working. With his flames he may help with just that. If not, we can use the digimental to charge up the wires." Zachary said, and Panthermon nodded in agreement.
Despite the wind, Zachary pushed to the door with Arthur. At the count of three... he pushed as hard as he could to open the door. Snow blew in just a bit at the moment but with the crack open-- Panthermon slipped through and Zachary with it.
The two were bombarded with wind and snow-- but the outline of the house was unmistakable. Placing back on his goggles, Zachary led Panthermon around the side of the cabin with Arthur till they found the machine that operated the lift. Despite the swinging of the cars in the distance, they had to just defrost and power the lift first before they could do anything. That would be a better choice than to risk riding it now. "So, how do you want to do this?!" Zachary shouted over the roar of the blizzard to Arthur.
(Zachary and Panthermon is now outside to help Arthur fix the lift. Panthermon's Hellcat Cloak is now back up and in use to give them warmth. Used it inside when the initial wind came in and now using it outside to keep Arthur and Zachary moderately protected from the cold as they work on the lift)

As the party headed outside, the wind struck back severely. Ice crystals stung at any skin still left exposed, all as whipping winds struck at their freshly-pelted flesh. Had it not been for the roaring flame of Panthermon's cloak, it would have been physically painful to step outside. Instead, it just left eyes dried and skin stiff.
The storm's interminable howling swallowed up any words Zachary tried to get out, and it pushed with enough force to try and shove those on the platform back outside. In the sheer whiteout conditions it was almost impossible to see the lifts themselves, but the creaking of their tethers and the hollow thuds from their wind-blown collisions made their position suitably apparent. The floorboards of the ski lift platform groaned in protest as they bore the party's weight: would they collapse in such a terrible storm?
Fortunately, nobody needed to find out. The ice crystals plinking off of the cable cars started to slow in frequency, second by second. The thick snowfalls blocking all vision of the area began to thin out, leaving the silhouettes of the cable cars visible. The winds continued to push furiously, but rather than lashing out at the party began pulling back in the other direction. All of the snow seemed to follow the winds as they left, looking like a great white cloud as it sailed back to the mountain. Soon, it was as if a storm had never started in the first place.
Unfortunately, its aftereffects were much less inclined to leave. The cables, previously heavy with snow, were now absolutely encased in it. They sagged under the weight of the thick mounds, the rubber that encased them starting to visibly quiver. The platform for reaching the cables was now covered in snow up to Zachary's ankles, deceptively slippery despite how deep the snow was. Even the windows of the ski lifts were solid sheets of white, any attempt at brushing the snow off requiring a herculean effort.
The cleanup required to get these lefts ready would be immense. The storm was gone, but every moment spent preparing for its inevitable return mattered.
Inclement Conditions - Still pretty much same ol', same ol'. A Cold Wind Blows - And after one post of blowing, the wind is gone again. This time, its passage is much in the party's favor.

It seemed that Arthur was pretty unsure himeslf, over the concept of Spirit Users; Ophelia would give Arthur a rather bewildered look over the idea of merging with a dead ghost-digimon, but she... Guessed... that made sense...? Okay that was a lie, Ophelia was still fucking confused, and Cassie was pretty confused still, too - but at least Ophelia understood that this human could... somehow... turn into a digimon, and so he didn't really need a partner to protect him. She'd just quietly nod to Arthur's explanation though - looking perhaps a hair alarmed still - up to the Mojyamon-being-Sloth incident.
As the wind began to die down once more, Ophelia would huff loudly - noting that the other three had left to check out the lift. She'd follow the lot of them outside, Cassie notably being able to move over the surface of the snow with surprising ease as she did. "Careful 'bout walking thru the snow, by the way. It can still be pretty slick underneath, even if it looks all fluffy n' shit; and if we gotta hoof it, you'll never know what sharp rocks, or even no ground at all, might be under the snow." Ophelia would inform the others as they made for the lift - being notably careful about her steps to make sure she didn't slip or trip on anything underneath the snow. Once she got there though, she could easily note that the cables, the lift, everything really was covered in snow and ice.
Ophelia would give it all a skeptical look - she'd rather trust in her own two feet than something that's practically breaking down in this weather - remarking "I kinda have my doubts with the lift, but I mean, I'll give it a shot if you two really think it's that worthwhile." as she began to work on brushing off the brunt of the snow, and breaking up any built up ice or packed snow with her sword. Cassie would be helping along as well, her surprising strength aiding well to - quite literally - headbutting ice into pieces and pushing mounds of snow off the lift! It seemed almost as though Cassie were physically stronger than Ophelia even - "You guys focus on the cable, we'll tidy up down here!" She'd chirp, as Ophelia boosted her up to the roof of the cablecar to clear any excess snow from up there, too; the less weight the better, they figured, and they could also knock off any excess snow from the cables as well before the others began heating it up.

If one could have seen Arthur's mouth past Guardromon's head, they would have seen him frowning and his eyebrows knitting in concern. What were the odds that, just as they stepped outside, the wind and snow stopped again. He didn't like it. It was almost as if Sloth was goading them to come after him, challenging them to take him on. Wonderful. No matter which way they went. they were very, very clearly walking into an ambush and/or trap. That is exactly what they needed. Time to see just how bad of situation they would be stumbling into.
As he stepped outside fully, he felt his heavy feet sink down slightly in the snow, packing it down for a relatively stable foot hold. It seemed Arthur was lucky that his Guardromon body was significantly heavier than his usual self and helped keep him stable as he trudged through the snow. Getting to the lift was not an issue. Now came the hard part. "The lift is our best chance of getting there. Walking the entire way will take too long and Sloth clearly knows we're coming to him, so no matter which way we go, he's gonna give us a hell of a lot of crap," he replied to Ophelia, looking back over his shoulder at her for a moment before looking back at the cable, his eyes narrowing in thought as he studied it. He had a option, but its success rate didn't seem high. Then again, it was the only way he'd be contributing to this operation for the time being.
"No harm in trying," Arthur muttered to himself as he stomped into a position in front of the cable car. Slowly, his eyes began to start glowing.
"Everyone keep clear of the front of the cable car!" he shouted as the glow in his eyes went white hot. A laser shot from his eyes, following along the length of the cable for a good few feet before pittling out. Hopefully, that would help heat the cables up enough to melt the ice and keep it off for a little while after.

The snow had been brutal-- but then it began to clear up. Though there was only moments, as it could pick up at any moment. Zachary braced himself against the wind and saw as everyone got ready to clear off the car to ride up the mountain. "We don't have much time! Hurry!" Zachary warned.
Ophelia and her companion worked on trying to brush off the snow with their tools, sword and relative strength. Helpful though to Zachary and Panthermon-- a bit mild in effect. Arthur, now as a Guardromon, used his laser beams to warm up the majority of the cables that attached the car and lifted it up the mountain. A part of Zachary worried if it would reach as far. They might have to give it constant warmth even on the way up since it was quite a distance.
With Panthermon still burning with his Hellcat Cloak, Zachary knew what he had to do. "Ophelia. Please stand clear a moment. This will help. Panthermon!" Zachary urged.
The Panther Digimon stepped up to the mound of snow still on the top of the car. "Spiral Flame!" He roared and with a leopord's roar, he launched a spiraling stream of fire from his maw. The blaze easily heated the mound of snow still there. The extreme heat from the cloak-- and his fire breath attack, caused the snow to start melting and no doubt cause it to loosen up, which would give Ophelia the extra help to move it.
Without needing prompting, Panthermon hopped on top of the car and took another breath to help Arthur heat up the cables. "Spiral Flame!" He released another stream of fire-- this time aimed just above the direct length of the cables. With both fire abilities working, the heat from the flame no doubt would help them get on.
As the panther-flamethrower finished clearing what snow and freezing cables were left within is range, he looked up to the swirling snow in the distance. "We need to get moving. Now!" Panthermon urged them. The cat jumped down and directed them onto the lift. "Hit the switch and let's get going!"
Zachary was quick to act as he punched the switch near him-- and ran right onto the lift to join the others.
(Used Panthermon's Spiral Flame attack and Hellcat Cloak to melt the majority of the remaining snow on the lift and use it to help heat up the cable. With the two abilities, the heat was no doubt strong to clear off the rest. With that, They get on the lift to make their way up)

The four-pronged assault was more than enough to start setting things in motion. Physical strength shattered the packed-up ice and snow into more manageable chunks, allowing it to slough off of the curved sides of the ski lift. Whatever didn't slough off was promptly heated by the flame-based techniques that followed. Lukewarm water dribbled onto the floor in a great puddle, leaving a bit of steam rising off of the snow wherever it made contact. Any chunks of ice remaining melted more quickly than the solid sheets from before would have, making it all too easy for Zachary to hop onto the lift.
The cables, too, started to heat up. While insulation prevented them from catching fire to a dangerous extent, direct applications of fire and plasma worked wonders for clearing up some of the snow. At least on this side of the mountain, the cable tension visibly started to ease itself. There were still some snow piles up ahead, but that was nothing that a bit of prudent blasting couldn't fix during the cable ride up.
Without further ado Zachary started the lift, and hopped right on. The controls were simple: a lever for adjusting speed, a hand-brake for sudden stops, a simple set of diagnostic lights, and a phone pad to dial in case of emergency. Were the others to follow, it'd be a smooth ride through the first leg of their journey.
Possibly the only concern was the mist. Visibility would always be more difficult the higher up the mountain one traveled, but much like every other facet of this winter storm it was more exaggerated than usual. A thick white cloud hung around the tip of the mountain, and misty clouds stretched from it like the tendrils of a great beast. The ski lift was heading right into one of these tendrils, and as it trundled inside the world would go white.
Or would it? Inside of the cloud, it actually seemed more iridescent than anything. Every color seemed to dance around inside of the mist, the capricious movements of the light carrying forth a voice with them. "Such safety and security. While you teeter back and forth in a rickety metal box, he basks in the heart of a mountain without a care in the world," the voice mused. It sounded just like the voice that had overtaken Bagramon's own, but this time it didn't seem so interested in playing pretend. "Do you think he even knows you're here? Do you think he even cares?
I so, so badly wish we could give him a wake-up call . . . tear that safety right from his grasp, and leave him just as exposed as the rest of us."
Combat Log Inclement Conditions - By now, the whole weather thing is pretty much on lock. Will the party be as adept at handling it on their way up the mountain? A Cold Wind Blows - A second moment of respite. If the pattern from prior holds, this lift ride could end up quite bumpy.

Ophelia and Cassandra both seemed quick to shy away from the dripping water, as the snow was heated up and melted - Ophelia didn't like getting wet, for multiple reasons; both she and Cassandra knew wet fur was more dangerous than no fur at all. But as they hopped down to watch the last of the snow melt away, and to watch the cables be heated by both Arthur's and Panthermon's efforts, they'd be mindful as they stepped onto the lift - "Careful of the water, don't let your clothes n fur get too wet." She'd call to the other three as a heads up - though she figured this would apply to Zachary and Panthermon more than Arthur, unless Arthur changed back.
As they settled on the lift though, Ophelia couldn't help but wonder just how far they'd be able to get like this - the lift didn't seem like it lifted too much off the ground, so jumping was likely an option if the lift stalled at all. "I've never been on a lift before..." Cassie would curiously murmur nonetheless, as the others filed in, and the lift soon lurched to life. "Me neither, I can certainly see why it'd be convenient to others in better weather..." Ophelia responded, peering out the window, up towards the peak of the mountain. "... Even the damn fog's whiter than a Yukidarumon's ass, though." She'd comment, as they went on higher, higher, and higher yet.
Ophelia would exhale and snuggle up with Cassie - yanking Zachary, Panthermon, and Arthur (if he turned back) closer to the two of them as she did - to form a cuddlepile in the middle of the lift. "We're snuggling for warmth now, 'til we need to warm up more cable." She'd declare. Bodywarmth was important to share, and it seemed neither of the two siblings were troubled at the idea of snuggling up to strangers. Assuming that the others cooperated to Ophelia's fussing, Cassie seemed content flopping over Arthur and Ophelia's laps, while Ophelia leaned back against Panthermon and rested her head against Zachary's side, purring softly, tail swishing as she watched the scenery pass by below thru relaxed, half-lidded eyes.
At least, until the lift passed thru into one of the tendrils of fog that seemed to stretch out over the mountain. At first, Ophelia didn't think much of it - fog was fog, best they could do was stay on the lift so that they didn't get lost, and stay close together for the warmth. But... Then she noticed the strange, psychedelic colors of the fog... And a familiar voice that seemed to carry from nowhere. "..." She'd frown deeply to herself, quietly, as she listened to the musing voice - before she simply let out a huffy growl, tailtip twitching. More of this bullshit? She already had enough of the Sloth-guy's rambling, and now that voice from before was preaching at them again!
"Here's what we think, ya half-assed Pipismon-wannabe!" She'd shout out into the fog, and would pull down her eyelid, blowing a sharp raspberry at the fog. "How 'bout you shut your trap, this cold ain't anything new to me!" Cassie couldn't help but giggle at Ophelia's taunting of the mystery-voice, but commented "If he didn't know we were here, I think he wouldn't have talked to us," in a thoughtful tone - adding "And we aren't really here to see if he cares or not, I don't think?" The Gomamon-X shrugged to nothing in particular, just snuggling up to the others more with a relaxed hum. She didn't quite have a sense of smell like Ophelia did - so that family-smell that her siblings and parents enjoyed wasn't quite as prevalent for her. But, she still enjoyed the close contact to others. It gave her a sense of security.
