[PotT 1] The Age of Erika!

“What!? You’ll join?”Erika opened up her eyes widely. Then, she cleared her throat, turning her back at the new recruits, still standing at the ship’s bow. “I-I mean…! Of course you’ll join! Why wouldn’t you?” Was she actually doing this to hide her tears of joy? Anyways! She quickly recovered her confident attitude, which was quickly overshadowed by her excitement. “This is going to be great!” She tightened up a fist and raised it into the air. “We’re going to have pirate beer parties, and sing pirate songs and all of that fun stuff!” Right now, the pirate was probably speaking a tad faster than what her crewmates’ ears could pick up. Back to Digital Earth, she turned her head to see her crew still standing at the docks. “What are you waiting for!? Get on the ship!” A wide grin graced the girl’s face. “Oh, right!” She got off the bow and threw a rope ladder overboard at the group so they could climb in. “Come on! Come on!” Was this the best day of her life? Probably. The ship was fairly big for such a small crew, actually. It was made of wood, although certain pieces around the deck seemed very technological: A touch screen that showed a digital map, a metal rudder and a polished wooden bar would probably raise the group’s attention. Everything was overall clean and the whole structure seemed brand new. Once they were all on board, the captain opened up her arms to greet them. “Welcome to the Age of Erika!” She shouted. “I will give you a tour later on! But, right now…” The girl walked behind the bar and poured liquid from a bottle into a set of very small wooden cups, handling one to each of them. The very small volume the vial possessed was filled up top by a transparent liquid. Erika was holding one of these cups in her own hands and made a sign so they all gathered up forming a circle. “Are you sure you want to do this?” Her eyes were now filled with determination; fire was almost visible in them. Her merry expression had changed into a confident, determined one, even though her excitement was still visible. “Once you do, you’ll be official members of the Pirates of the Treasure!”
Once the decision was taken, Erika would raise her own cup into the center of the circle, waiting for the rest of the crew to clash theirs with it to the sound of a ‘cheers!’ The taste of the liquid inside the cup was a bit sour, even though some might find it very tasty. And once that was done… “Okay…” Erika laid her back on the ship’s mast to take a good look at her new crewmates. Some of them were actually adorable critters! But it would be better if formal introductions were made. “As I told you before, my name is Erika. I like to hunt for treasures and do pirate stuff!” Simple as that. “I would like you to tell me your names and a bit about yourselves. Like what do you like to do and all of that.”The first official request made by the captain. Easy enough, right? Yui and the Gals koharu

Some adventure can't be hurt, right? That's what Koharu thought back then. The black haired girl looked very interested in all this... She admittedly needed more adventure in her life, and nothing of the chilling kind hopefully. After the adventure on the north, she felt she's ill suited for that sort of heart exercise. She wanted different kind of thrill dammit! In the end... she found an ads wanting for crew.
...Interesting.
Without much thought she decided to go to the promised place... Whitewater's Dock 7 huh... Well, that's a lucky number if anything! And now here she is... finding herself in front of a captain that looked like... a human. Holosuit? Koharu rubbed her chin thoughtfully. Well, whatever, whoever the captain is, as long as it's a fun adventure she's in! By the way, two of her partners are tagging along behind them.... Warg and Kon-chan. One is a Guilmon X, only black in color and another is a Commandramon.
"Is that an Alcohol?" Kon-chan asked.
"I sure hope not, but what's the bad in it?" Warg replied.
"...Koharu can't hold her liquors. She's extremely lightweighted."
As much as she wanted to drink it... yes, best not. Chaos that would ensue definitely going to be crazy. A drunk Koharu is far more chaotic funny than a normal Koharu. She's a hysteric, laughing drunk.
"Well, I'm sure, as long as we're not doing anything that's... absolutely against the law. For example like robbing a ship... that'd be bad. Then again if the moral ground is in "limbo", for example robbing another thief then i guess that's fine. Also, I'd like to stay as part of my own team obviously, if you don't mind. Team and crews are different thing... and there will be no conflict of interest I assure you that," Koharu answered. Then, she lowered her posture to match the captain's seriousness and smiled fearlessly.
"I won't ask any bootay, I'll just ask the greatest adventure there is, Captain~ Entertain me and I'll help you~ Simple as that~"
While Koharu did raise the cup for a cheer, she did not immediately drink it. Let's make sure if there is alcohol or not inside before that.
What is it to introduce? Hmmm, let's see...
"Name's Nakano Koharu of KIZNA. We're groups of adventurers. Treasure hunting is our second nature, but we're more to chronicler, thrill seekers, and researcher. We also am for good relationship between human world and Digital World so we're mostly more to neutral good group, but enough of the group. Myself, I'm a merchant by nature. I'd like to say a comedian, but I think someone would lose her hair~"
"YEAH RIGHT," Kon-chan interjected.
"... although not of trade. I'm just an inn owner, and mostly responsible for a lot of item distribution. That side I think there's not much about me. My partners only can evolve up to Adult stage, so I think that's... probably a bit of a pity, but what can I do I guess. Over here is my partner Kon-chan and Warg."
"Eyo~" Warg greeted, enjoying the drink. "Name's Warg, just an annoying lil bro for my hot tempered big sis, Kon-chan."
"Shut up. Anyway, Kon-chan, that's what I'm called. I will not give you my real name, and it's best to call me that way. Me and my brother usually act as this danger-prone girl's bodyguard."
"Despite her spicy attitude, I can assure you that my sister is very caring 'mon. Just don't trigger her too much."
"But teasing her is so fun!" Koharu protested.
"I swear to Homeostasis I'll get you back for all of that," Kon-chan growled.
"Well either way with her around you'll get your fill of sailor tongue, definitely!"

The twins had admittedly forgot which of them put the other one up to answering this call for adventure, but that didn't necessarily matter much now, did it? What did matter was how elated that the captain of this whole venture seemed. Fuu scratched her head. "Well, we did come here for adventure...Wait, did you say beer?" The Dorumon inquired as Erika proceeded onto the ship.
"HELL YEAH SHE SAID BEER." Bu, on the other hand, was as excited as ever. Fuu could probably feel some of her implied brain cells whittling away by the second. With no actual confirmation on if they were actually gonna be pirates or not (the actual answer was probably, who knows,) the twins followed Erika and Koharu and co. onto the ship, Fuu climbing up first before Bu.
They also went right ahead and clinked their cups with everyone else! Fuu didn't seem to like hers very much, while Bu just...drank it all. All of it. "Hey, can I have some more?" The Ryudamon inquired while the Dorumon kept taking careful sips. Bu had the decency of waiting for Koharu, Kon and Warg to finish up before she promptly decided to steal the floor for herself.
"Well! My name's Bujin, Bu for short. I'm also part of KIZNA, and I'm the best waitress around! I can spit swords at over 30 miles per hour! I also like sparring and drinking. Glad to meet you, captain!" The Ryudamon gave a vigorous few nods before Fuu just set her drink down and cleared her throat, her own introduction being much less boisterous than her sister.
"I'm Fuu. Just Fuu. Like my sister and the other three here, I'm part of KIZNA. Umm...I like looking at old things and taking notes on them. I suppose our interests align in that regard, Captain. What with the seeking of treasure and all..." ...Wow, she sure was quiet.

Although Erika was not expecting to form such a big crew so soon, she couldn't be more thrilled to have all of them onboard! Her group had gone from a crew of one to a crew of five in a matter of seconds. Regarding the crewmates themselves? They all seemed very nice! While each of them seemed to have their own dynamic going for themselves, they all seemed interested in this adventure, although for different motives.
"Yes!" She nodded at Koharu's words. They were looking for a city that had been lost for over a thousand years, so a very interesting adventure was pretty much guaranteed. Of course, the human girl had also stated her moral ground from the get-go, which was ultimately a good thing. "I can't promise you what we'll do will always be seen as honest for other people. We must be prepared for people to see us as the bad guys. But I can assure you we will respect our own beliefs and won't bring trouble to anyone who doesn't deserve it!" And that was pretty much everything she could say about it. At the end of the day, Erika was a wanted criminal herself. Although that was one of those situations where you really can't rely on what other people said.
Regarding Bu's request for another chug of the liquid in the bottle... Erika's eyes widened up. A certain sparkle could be seen in them. "... So you're one of my kind." She said, showing a smile filled with smugness.
While she poured some more of the liquid from the bottle for Bu and herself, Erika listened to the brand new crew from the Age of Erika as they introduced themselves one by one.
"So... KIZNA." Said Erika once everyone was done talking. "Is it a coincidence that you all had reunited here, or does this group you belong to have any interest in me?" That was a question worth being asked.
All of the digimon aboard seemed very funny. And so adorable too! Erika just had to contain herself from giving all of them a hug. But... what did the Ryudamon just say?
"You can spit swords!? Do it! Do it now! I want to see you do it!" Well, now she kind of had to do it. You can't say you can spit swords in front of Erika and not give her a showing.
Going back into more serious topics! Erika cleared her throat and walked towards a giant, squared, wooden table right at the middle of the deck, waiting for the crew to reunite around it. "I should give all of you some role inside the crew." Yes, she was going to do this based on the few sentences they had told her. That was fine. In the end, if they didn't feel fit enough for a role, then they would just have to learn some new things in order to comply, which was always useful!
First, her green eyes went to Fuu. "You'll be our chief of inventory. This ship is filled with only supplies and liquor right now. As we advance in our journey we will probably find treasures and weapons, so you're going to have to keep an inventory of those too!" According to what she said she liked, this could be just the perfect job for the Dorumon. "That means you should also be in charge of cooking, but you can ask for help from any of us for that if you want."
Regarding her sister and Kon-Chan... "You two will be our chiefs of infantry, Bu, Kon-Chan! When it comes to fighting our enemies, we're counting on you." The little critter liked to spit swords and the other one had a gun and an attitude! not much to discuss there.
"Koharu and Warg will be our sailing masters. One of you should be in charge of drawing our charts and reading our maps, as well as actually handling the rudder. While the other one should be our lookout, telling us what's ahead and raising and lowering our sails." They really needed to find a radar for the ship. But the time for that would come, eventually.
Finally, she dedicated some more words, this time looking at the whole crew. "I don't believe in ranks as I believe in trusting your crewmates. So this is not about following orders, it's about trusting the member we feel is more fit to do what we can't do ourselves." And that was probably the most serious glare they would see Erika give to them.
"We still have a lot to talk about regarding our mission today. But we should get moving! sailing masters, lower our sails!" The girl pointed her finger into the distance, her expression filled with zeal. Was she actually pointing at the direction they should go? Impossible to know, right now.
"Kayo!"

"That's enough," Koharu answered favorably, nodding her head in approval. "We can't control everyone's opinion on us, and that's fine. As long as we didn't do anything absolutely criminal like act of terrorism or robbing the bank just because we're short on fund, I'll definitely fine with it."
Kon-chan meanwhile drunk her liquor, then takes Koharu's. "Quite delicious liquor. What's this?" she asked. "I'd like to know the name, hopefully to secure some for my drinking time."
What does they want? ",,,Hmmm, well... personally, we don't really have any beef or interest to you personally, but... each of us KIZNA have some level of freedom what we can do. It just happened that Bu and Fuu is here with me I guess... I did told the team in our private social media that I wanted to go on a seafaring adventure...
We do have interest in adventuring, and we just feel there are merits in teaming up with fellow adventurers you know? We're lore hungry. Any old buildings, any artifacts, anything that leads to the origin of Digital World is part of our greatest desire to unearth. But personally for me myself? I guess... it's for this." Koharu pointed at Warg, who unraveled a blueprint.
There, is a sketch of a lance. Its shape is like those of a jousting lance, and the length is nearly about one and half of Koharu's height from its tip to the end. Its design looks ancient.
"Eye of the Storm. A legendary artifact that supposedly could call the storm. However, whether it's true or not who knows." Koharu shrugged. "That artifact doesn't exist... yet. I'm hoping by locating this island as you said, we could build this lance by gathering foreign materials in that island, if you got what I mean."
Now...
Roles eh? That's not bad. Kon-chan just nodded. "Very well."
"Well then Warg? Who wanna go on the crow nest?" Koharu asked.
"I guess that would be me. You're much more used in reading maps and drawing it anyway."
"I guess my skill as an artist could help!"
"Well that's good and all... but thing is where is the Uka Island is then, Captain? Do you have any maps?" Warg asked.

"N-No, captain. It kind of just seems like a huge coincidence...Then again, I guess a lot of things in the world do." Fuu nodded, as Bu's eyes lit up with joy at being presented with more booze. This whole dubious view that people might have of them worried the Dorumon, but she felt like she should have a bit of faith in the good captain.
Bu, meanwhile, took SEVERAL drinks before she looked at Erika. She wanted her to spit a sword? Okay. She angled her head upwards, and a light formed within her maw before she very literally spat a sword into the air. A katana, wildly out of place in a seafaring setting, spun in the air before descending.
The Ryudamon caught it without a second glance, nor hesitation. "That good enough, captain? Because I can do it again if you want!"
Fuu had to pay attention for the delegation of roles on the ship. After all, a seafaring vessel's only good when it's crew is all there. Fuu gave a nod towards Erika. "I can do that, no problem. Bu's a good choice for infantry considering she's...pretty tough. Um...I'm not the best at cooking, but I'll give it my all. Should I get started on inventory now...?"

“Oh…! I know, right?” The captain seemed a bit shocked at the statement. “It’s just some old, low-quality beer from Plymcook Island. That’s where I was born.” She explained, pointing her thumb at herself, cracking a smile. “Many people don’t like that, but I personally love it. Having a good taste for liquor inside a crew is super important!”The fact that everyone had their own motives and interests to find Astrivia only made everything better. “That’s amazing,”Erika muttered looking at the blueprint. “Well, all types of ancient, valuable materials should be in Astrivia, so it’s likely you can find what you’re looking for there!” Could you tell Erika was filled with zeal at the idea of another reason to find this mythical city? “This is great! We’re going to build the Eye of the Storm!” She seemed fairly convinced of that. Her attention drifted quickly to the dragon spitting a sword into the air! “Kayo! You did it!” A wide smile had appeared on Erika’s face. Gosh, she had found a very cool crew! “Yes! Yes! Do that again!” Immediately, her attention drifted towards the questions issued by Fuu and Wrag. “I-I mean…” She cleared her throat, trying to fake some sort of straight captain role. “… let’s leave that for later.”The meetup was not done just yet. “Don’t worry Fuu, you can do that while we travel.” She showed a smile to her crewmate. “About the maps, you can have… this.” Erika took out an old book and a compass out of the pocket of her dark brown pirate outfit and handled it to Koharu. ‘How to read and draw nautical charts. Beginners' edition.’“It belonged to my dad. It explains everything in a simple, clear way. Even though there exist maps we will use to guide ourselves…” She handled a simple map to Wrag. There, the Guilmon could spot Whitewater City. On top, several islands, including Uka Island, exactly 3 isles after Whitewater’s shore. It was a plain chat that easily indicated they should travel north to get to their destination. “… it is recommended pirate crews draw their own charts to use as guides. For now, you can use that map to guide us in order to reach Uka Island, but you should also draw your own chart while we travel, using that book I gave you as a guide. Don’t worry, it’s pretty easy! We will get to Uka Island after navigating north for around three hours. In our little trip, we should pass by two different islands before we get there. If we see those, it means we’re going in the right direction!”Erika took a deep breath. “So, if there are no more questions, set sail for Uka Island!”
So the course was clear and the roles had been given. Now… it was time to actually talk about their mission. Erika extended her hand for someone to give her back the newspaper she had given to them earlier. Then, she placed that over the table. “This is our target: Elecmon. He wrote the book you have right there, Koharu, Wrag.” Her gaze went for a second to her two sailing masters. “As I mentioned before, he’s a well-known scientist and cartographer, providing very important discoveries to the scientific community around the Binary Archipelago. I know he might know something that could get us closer to Astrivia, I just know it. But he’s missing, and call me crazy but… I don’t think it’s a coincidence that he went missing right in a moment like this. A moment where everyone needs people like him in order to get to Astrivia. That only makes me think he knows something others didn’t. We need to find him and find out what it is.”Clear as the blue sky, right? The captain took a glance at an old pocket watch she was storing in her coat. “We should be arriving at Uka Island at noon.” Considering it was early morning, that was an accurate prediction. “While we do, we have some work to do.” She noted. “Koharu and Wrag should read Elecmon’s book and draw a chart as we navigate. Of course, you can work at the crow’s nest if you want to work together, so you can be on the lookout.” Then, she turned to the rest of the digimon. “Bu, Fuu, Kon-chan, follow me.” Erika made her way to a scuttle, she lifted the door and started going down the stairs. Below deck, they would find a nice, clean layout. It definitely looked older than the platform above them, but the wood was still well-taken care of and the overall structure seemed just fine. They walked through an aisle with multiple doors to its sides. “The ship has two floors below deck. Up here, we have the bedrooms and the kitchen. You’ll have time to see those later.” She kept walking through the hallway until they found another set of stairs going down again. The group would take those. “The lower floor is like a giant basement.” She explained as she went through just another hallway door on its sides too. “Here we storage supplies and probably treasures, when we have any!”The pirate stopped in front of one of the doors. “Bu, Kon-chan. This will be your task until we arrive.” She turned her head towards the two dragons and opened the door behind her. A plain, simple wooden room was behind the umbral. The only thing that could possibly raise their attention was an old squared machine with a screen facing up. Erika wrinkled her face just upon seeing it. It was old and dusty. “From what I understand, that’s supposed to be a radio receiver. I don’t know if we could use it as a radar. But I do know it’s supposed to receive distress signals and other types of… call… things.” If it didn’t seem like the girl knew much about was she was talking about it was because she didn’t. “I really don’t understand much of that complicated stuff. Still, I would like you to discover how it works and if it's possible to receive any radio signal from it. Anything you find out about that machine would help a lot!”With that, the girl left the duo there. Maybe they should try to turn it on, examining it or something? Then, she kept walking along Fuu, to finally reach the last room. She opened up the door to reveal a fairly more cluttered room than the last chamber. This one had bookshelves, barrels, and crates all over the place. “I will help you do an inventory, Fuu. What do you think? Maybe we could find some ingredients to make some food for the rest.”With that, the trip to Uka Island began. The Age of Erika was lively and they all had tasks to complete before reaching their objective! The thread has entered Cruising Mode.
Inventory: -How to read and draw nautical charts. Beginners' Edition. (Book) [Koharu/Wrag]
OOC: Cruising Mode During the Astrivia Plot, each thread has two modes: Regular Mode and Cruising Mode. When you start moving in a ship from one island to another, you enter Cruising Mode. Although they might have some tasks to fulfill, during Cruising Mode, your characters are free and encouraged to do whatever they want across the ship. It's their ship, after all!
Want to go take a nap? Go ahead! Want to wander around the ship? Be my guest! What about making some food for the rest of the crew? Your characters are completely free! As the GM, I promise you they will find something interesting or at least entertaining in every task they decide to perform. However, if you have a specific task to complete (like doing an inventory or drawing a chart) then performing that task could make things easier for the crew in the future. After all, there's real progress to be made there!
Sometimes you can find very interesting stuff around the ship, so it's always a good idea to wander around for a bit when you're not too busy or after finishing your established task!
The Cruising Mode will end once they had arrived at their destination. OOCly, it will last according to the number of hours you have to travel to get there.
If every crew member agrees, you can skip the trip and arrive at the island right away, doing a time-skip, at any round during the Cruising Mode. You just need to notify the GM and I will make sure you all agree to skip Cruising Mode. It's definitely not as fun, but it will get you there faster, OOCly.
Inventory: The inventory shows what interesting or important items any member of the crew has at any time. Right next to the name of the item, you will find what type of item it is and who in the crew has it. If an item is showed in the inventory, it means you can take your time to look at it closely or use it in any kind of situation. The fact that an item is in your inventory probably means you're going to need it. So don't forget to check the crew's inventory every time you have to make a decision or don't know what to do. You might have the item you need right there!

"Old, Low Quality?" Warg repeated, glancing at his sister, who immediately glared back.
"If I like it I like it. Who cares about low quality? It got some of those sour taste. If I mix it with some other alcohol I might be able to make some nice concoction out of it."
"True, you can leave that to Hikaru," Koharu commented. "He's really creative with what he can make."
"I wish at times that he won't be SO creative... the difference between success and crazy experiment is paper thin."
"Like that one time he made a mayonnaise and seaweed coffee?" Warg supplemented.
"Don't. you. fucking. remind. me. that."
Understandably the SWAT Dragon looked pissed being reminded at how she was told to drink that crazy drink by Hikaru when she picked 'dare' for their annual 'truth or dare' game. It was a moment where she swore she would faint from the odd taste.
Either way Warg instead passed the map to Koharu, who began studying it.
"I don't get it, why do we have to draw the map ourselves if there are maps available?" Kon-chan asked.
"Because sometimes there are chances of inaccuracies or problem with other cartographers purposely trying to make us lost. If this map is a trial then it's most likely purposely riddled with inaccuracy. By the way, if you want to buy a map you must pick ones with official signature of the creator. A famed cartographer will not risk their credibility by purposely drawing a bad map...
Still, I feel it's fine to depend on nautical map made by other cartographer, but at the end of the day, the most accurate map is the one that you draw yourself." as she said this, Koharu pulled a parchment and hastily began drawing the borders. She used all tool on her disposal to first create Whitewater's area on the edge of the map. She did not forget to add her own signature on the map. "if we trust the map that they give us, then more or less..." Koharu spun the wheel for the ship to face the right direction. "It's over there. For now we'll just communicate, alright Warg?"
"I'll climb the crow nest then."
"Counting on you! Raise the anchor! --Oh wait this is not our vessel, teehee, my bad~ Captain, order please!"
"Yeah, this is not 'Van Eltia'" Warg commented wryly.
Kon-chan followed Erika meanwhile. A... communication devices? Interesting. She's been working with drones and various other machinery. This should be easy enough for her to work with. However, problem still lies in whether they have enough materials in case it need fixing.
"I don't think you can spit out detailed structures, can you, Bu?" Kon-chan asked. Well, neither could Hikaru back when his metal element was still there...
Kon-chan pulled a duster and immediately began to work with it. First cleaning up this room. Golly, this is far more dusty than anything in Ys.
"Try turning it on if you can. If it sends any of morse code or other form of signals, tell me. I can decipher them just fine."
At times like this Kon-chan is happy that she knows some military knowledge... otherwise she felt she's very obsolete...

"Low quality? Nonsense, this stuff's great!" Bu stated before punctuating her declaration with a rather fierce nod. And when she was told to spit out another sword? She did! And she caught this one too, with her mouth at that! Fuu meanwhile watched the exchange between Erika and Koharu. She was quite uncertain of where this would take them, but...The captain appeared to have quite the knowledge of her craft.
As any captain should, really. Once the meeting had shifted to the topic of an Elecmon, Fuu found it pertinent to ask the obvious. "So someone might've kidnapped him? Would...Would he still be on the island then?" Whether or not that question was humored, they would soon find out once they got to the island.
For now, there were tasks to be done on the ship proper. When confronted with the strange device, Bu looked to Kon. "Well, uh...I think we can just dust it off and see if it even works..." She told the captain as they were left to work with this thing. The Ryudamon went to go dust the thing off, first and foremost. See what it was. Help the Commandramon clean this hole up.
Fuu, meanwhile? Got right to work with taking inventory. "I'd love that, captain!" The Dorumon exclaimed, quite cheerfully, too! However, she had to focus on cleaning up and organizing the place, first and foremost. Maybe Erika can pick stuff she liked out of the clutter?

Some things had been taken care of before Erika and the rest of the crew went down. First, she had nodded at Koharu’s explanation, adding her own piece of insight. “Besides, you have to consider what’s overall important for a regular cartographer might not be important for us, as well as he might not have added pieces of information we could find important. Secret passages, places of interests and safe routes! All of that must be included in our own pirate chart.”
Another nod had ensued Fuu’s words. “It is possible he is not in the island anymore, Fuu. However, whether he is there or not, our best way to find him is getting to the island and gathering information, I think.” And that made a lot of sense.
Of course, she had also given the order and the anchors had been aweigh. The ship was moving now.
If Koharu opened up the book, she would find some tips about how to mark places of interest or secret routes. It basically contained guidelines to be able to draw certain elements without they mixing up with some of the other lines. What the book tried to achieve was for the cartographer to make a clean map where things weren't muddled or hard to understand. Could it be that there was anything of interest Elecmon could have written in this book? After all, it was something written by the digimon they had to find himself.
If that was the case… where should Koharu look carefully? It was clear this book had to be read slowly, so she had no time to read the whole thing right now. She should look for specific spots. Where could have Elecmon written something of interest, if he had?
Wrag, up in the crow nest, would see an island on the distance. They were still far away, but it was there. Up to now, the map they were following seemed trustworthy. In this map, the first island they would find north after leaving Whitewater was labeled as ‘Combu Island.’
Down below, Bu and Kon faced their own piece of a challenge.
After cleaning up the strange device and the whole room for that matter, something was brought to light. The machine had five buttons next to the screen on its upper side. Black, white, green, red and blue were its colors. Also, they would discover there was a small lid covering one of its sides. The metallic tray seemed to be well screwed and it just wouldn’t budge easily. Probably throwing a technique would damage the whole thing, so that couldn’t be a good idea.
What would their next move be in order to test the mysterious piece of machinery?
Fuu was so adorable it was hard to breathe. She had a lively spirit, although her attitude was quiet. Erika could very well work with that. Although their personalities were quite different, she would always appreciate a crewmate pouring her heart on everything she did.
Erika would help the digimon, picking up a brush and taking the excessive dust off the shelves and crates. Right now, she was not finding anything of interest.
“All of these belonged to my dad. When the surface of the ship was remodeled, I didn’t want them to throw away any of these. That's why the lower part of the ship looks older.” Said the captain while she dusted off some flasks and old books. She let out a sigh, her eyes affixed on the shelf in front of her. “… sometimes it’s hard to let go, I guess.”
After dusting up for a bit, the group would find the crates were actually labeled. ‘Food’, ‘Books’, ‘Medicines’, ‘Miscellanies’, ‘Clothes’ and ‘Tools’ were the labels, one on each of six crates. There was a seventh crate, but it was not labeled.
“These look big. We should look through them one by one. We might not have time to organize all of these now, so…” Erika hummed, a hand on her chin. “… what if you open one and I open another one to see what we find?” She suggested. “What could be on ‘miscellanies’? maybe it would be good to know what medicines we have…” She began pondering. “Although we did say we wanted to make some delicious food, didn't we? I wonder what’s inside the unlabeled crate!” This was not working. “Kayo! I can’t decide! Please, you decide, Fuu.” She glared at her crewmate with a smile.
“Which crates should we open? Please choose two of them. I will go through one, you can go through the other.”

...Well if there are ways to make clean map, there should be bad examples on how bad maps are made right? Koharu wets her index finger to feel the way the wind blows. Upon feeling that the wind is favorable and not the kind that would make them suddenly crash, she decided to pull a barrel and began reading away at the book. Could there be any clues or aspiration that the Elecmon did before then?
"Warg, update me on the status of the sight OK?"
"Roger that! I see a land up ahead, but it's seem to be called... what is it again?"
Oh right, the map is on her huh... Let's see.. "Combu Island it says."
"Ha, and you're saying there's a lot of Kombu there? Might want to buy it to procure it for our inn?"
"Pfft, kombu made from Combu island. Sounds not too bad actually... hey, maybe it's famous? Ah well, I'll note this one. Maybe we can visit that place..."
She first measured the distance, then made sure everything worked out accurately. Afterward, she began roughly marking the map she made again so it's easier to draw on it. Afterward, the girl decided that she probably should first look for sections of what to avoid in drawing maps, especially when working on the secret passages. Probably some codes while at it.
Well ain't this great. The room is now sparkly clean, but... Kon-chan understood why Bu just offered to clean it up instead of actually starting it. "...Sorry, I'm stumped myself." Kon-chan admitted. If it's some TV then red and green should be off and on respectively but it's not. And is there any sort of manual under here?
"...Bu, if you can, please ask the Captain if she know if this.... thing got any manual with it. Or ask Fuu if she can look for manual over there. Maybe if there are some I could do something about it... Well, for now I'm going to try opening this... box thing. I wonder if any of my screwdrivers could fit in, hmmm..."
She first examined the screw... Does she have anything similar enough? Should she somehow use other tools for this?

Information was the most important part of this venture. Huh...Fuu could understand that quite well. Nonetheless, there were tasks to get to aboard the ship.
"Don't worry about it, I'm not really the sharpest tool to be found in the shed. Sure, I'm drawing conclusions on what to do but...these take time. Anyways, I could go ask the captain, but I've got another thing we need to do. So, you know how some machines get cranky when dust gathers in them?" Bu stated then inquired, before continuing.
"I'm gonna need you to dust it off while I ask the captain if there's any manual for this thing...Or if there's any screwdrivers aboard that we can use. If not, then we'll do things the old fashioned way and start hitting buttons until something works." Stating this aloud was Bu's way of formulating a plan of action, all things considered. With that, she left Kon-chan to her own devices before setting out towards the lower area. Speaking of? Fuu looked at all seven of the boxes before her. "I think I can empathize. Um...Bu and I live in an ancient city that our family's trying to restore. There's plenty of things from a time long past to be found there, and I think it might be the same here." Dusting the place had yielded some results, now they had to go through them.
They were meant to cook, so the food crate would need to be sifted through first. So, Fuu pointed to that one. "I'll take that one, you ca--" She was promptly cut off by Bu bursting down into the room! "Hi, hi! Sorry to interrupt but do any of you guys got a screwdriver or something?"
"...Why?" Fuu asked her sister, looked a slight bit irritated at being interrupted. "'cause we gotta unscrew a thing." The Ryudamon replied, dead-serious as ever.
"Right, um, Captain, could you look through the tools crate...? I apologize for my sister..." Fuu mumbled as she went to start looking through her own crate.

Just like the rest of the book, a certain section was dedicated to offering guidelines on how to proceed when it came to write or point out secret passages on a nautical chart. Koharu would read the following:
“When writing about secret passages on charts and journals, you must always draw symbols and use words only people in your crew can understand. Don’t draw the passage directly on the chart, but draw a symbol or figure that’s easy to recognize for your crew that indicates there is something of interest there. Draw as many symbols as you need to get the message across to the reader. It is recommended you also keep a journal with the meaning of these symbols. This journal can be used as a dictionary to translate what you meant to say in the chart. However, it is also recommended you use a cryptic language that only your crew can understand, in case either the chart or your journal gets stolen.
‘Look behind the sunset. Forget about the tortoise, feed the bird three times, pat the dog once and make sure the cat is looking at the sky.’”
One could assume this last sentence was an example of how cryptic should a secret message be. However, it was oddly specific. Maybe there was some importance to it?
Now that she was actually holding the book, Koharu would feel there was a small bump some pages near the end. Could it be a bookmark? Maybe Koharu should check that out. Or would she rather reading something else?
Once Kon studied the tray from up close, she would notice the screws had a very odd shape, to say the least. They were diamond shaped. The form had some amount of depth as if there was actually a certain type of tool that could fit in there. Certainly, none that she had or could find inside the room right now, so it was Bu's job to find the tool they needed.
"Ancient city!?" Those were like magic words for Erika. "Where is that? I would love to visit some day!" A huge grin has appeared on her face. "I can only imagine how many interesting and valuable objects can be found in a place like that." Her eyes were even glimmering from excitement. Well, she was a Treasure Hunter, after all.
Fuu's comment brought the captain back to the issue they were facing and the task they had to complete. "Hmmh!" She nodded. Before she could actually say anything else, Fuu's sister had entered the old warehouse. "Hi, Bu!" She showed a tender smile to the dragon. Her expression quickly turned into a pensive one. "A screwdriver..." She murmured. "I'm sure we have plenty. But I don't know exactly why type of screwdriver you need." Then, another nod going Fuu's way. "Right. I'll open the crate with tools, let's see what we find."
With that, both Fuu and the captain searched through their own crates.
The Dorumon would find bags of bread, eggs, fruits, and even frozen meat! There was a huge variety of spices and sauses too. All of these ingredients would probably be familiar to Fuu, since they were the digital world variations of human food. Didn't mean human couldn't enjoy those, though; they were very yummy! There were also different types of Digimon food that couldn't quite be compared to any type of human food. Bottom line, the crate was full of everything they needed to make a good meal for both human and digimon!
"Oh." "Erika turned her head towards the purple dragon/fox seeing her search through all of the ingredients. "I actually bought that crate around three weeks ago to a merchant in Whitewater. Apparently, those come from a place called Garma Islands where many ingredients can be found. Since no one goes there, these are easy to find and the merchants sell crates with different types of food for a very low price. It was a steal!" Giving her a thumbs up, the captain winked an eye at her crewmate. "Apparently, they add a substance to conserve that food for months, so everything in there should be in perfectly edible."
Hammers, wires, saws, and even axes could be found inside the crate Erika was going through. Although diverse, the content of the crate seemed a bit rusty and antique. Pulling from something inside the crate with all of her strength, she was able to take out a silver toolbox. "That was heavy." She said, dropping it on the ground. "Only big tools are found inside the rest of the crate, Bu. So I'm sure all of the screwdrivers we have should be in there. I hope one of those works for you!"
Regarding Fuu... "Okay, we've got the food. Now..." Erika took a book with a brown cover out of her coat. "... We have to actually write in here all of what we have to make an inventory. Would you like to do that right now, or would you prefer we go cooking instead? Maybe we can open another couple of crates first? We can split if you want, too!"
So many possible choices for a single Dorumon.

"Look behind the sunset... eh?" If the sunset is on the west, that means look to the east? Forgot about the tortoise... what tortoise? Is it something that should be thought the moment they entered the Uka Island? If this is Van Eltia she would probably assign the ship to autopilot before brewing some coffee for herself and rethink of everything, but this is not. She guess she have to deal with this in her own way...
First, let's check whether it's bookmark or the bulges are something that came from the cover. Koharu tapped her infini-store and pulls out letter knife.
"...Lessee..."
If this ends right she would probably just tell Erika what's up after she goes up. She don't think they have enough crew at the moment... Is there any communication device here? Those pipes used to broadcast her voice to the rest of he ship?
"I've done that already Bu," Kon-chan answered about cleaning the machine. Really, she dusted it and all that. Well for now she'll just gather the dusts to one side of the room. She'll clean 'em later. Might as well as mop it if they have any mops to be honest. Eh well... And now, checking on the.. thing...
"...What in fresh hell. Now I know for sure whoever manufactured this thing probably really anal about copyright or security."
She then walks to the hallway, hoping Bu could hear her. "Ey Bu! Try looking for any diamond type screwdriver! Bring all of them if it's needed, but it's not the type that found in the modern tool! Don't forget the manual if there is any!"

"It's a place called Ys, in the Northern Prominence. Um...I think it'd be cool if you came to visit." That, honestly, was all she said on the matter before she got through rifling through the crate. That yielded a number of good ingredients to be used for culinary escapades.
Bu, meanwhile, heard Kon-chan (barely) and began to look through the pile for a diamond-headed screwdriver. "Right, sorry for barging in, by the by!" Fuu then nodded towards Erika. The Dorumon had some semblance of an order of operations to use in this scenario.
"Welllll...We did come here to take inventory, so we should do that first so we know what we're working with. The list, I mean. Then we go cook something for the rest of the crew. I can get to writing everything down if you want. Unlike Bu, I graduated top of my class in the Village of Beginnings. So, I'm actually kinda smart--skilled with writing."
Bu interjected from her pile of tools. "She's not kidding! I was the bottom and she was at the top!"
