The premise was simple enough: Silence and its numbers had simply outgrown the Spartan Training Ground in time, in size, in maturity, and in experience. The training partners back there just didn't keep the team sharp anymore, which made some sense because the facilities didn't have safe spaces for such high-level combat anyway. That meant the team in its down time had to shift locations to somewhere more open. He also began posting open invites on Tamernet for training partners in a safe environment with safe people. He didn't like soliciting strangers, but trees didn't shoot back.
In the meantime, he and his team were not idle. At the moment, a Turiemon was crossing blades with Sealsdramon. "Smoker, captain! You've got no cover!" It was true. Sand dunes were few and far between, varying greatly in height, and the sun lit the place up like a stage. The boy who yelled that order was watching from a safe distance away, a 16-year-old Japanese native in khaki shorts and a thin white tee, his survival mechanism against the brutal heat.
The Sealsdramon responded by using a free hand to slip a smoke grenade from one pouch in his vest and slammed it into the ground. On contact, a very wide radius filled up with thick, dark smoke.
"What's it gonna be, bunny girl? Can't use a substitute without line of s-"
Turuiuemon ran to the edge of the smoke and declared, "-Cross Substitution!" Amazingly, it worked. Suddenly Sealsdramon was outside the smoke, and she inside. "Caught your shiny knife!"
"Get a closer look." The Sealsdramon threw his knife into the cloud of smoke, and the rabit's cry of pain indicated he hit something. "You forget my sight."
It looked like they were deep in the middle of sparring already.

"And why are we entertaining this again?"
Speaking from the Xros Loader, the Renamon found herself giving an annoyed sigh. The sound of the dry, desert winds whipping past them slightly obscured her voice as the General, carried on the back of his Devidramon, made their way back towards the practical center of the desert. "Between our run-in with that Kidmon and that other excursion, don't you think this place would be running a bit hot for our tastes?"
"Not as much as you think. Really, let them try and find the one 'needle in the haystack' out there if they want to." Denryu returned that simple comment, glancing down at the screen. "Besides, at your level and our circumstance, its not like you all get a good chance to practice. Sparring against Demon will only get you so far on its own - you get used to each-other."
"Like I could ever get used to Angel?" Demon snorted, Angel giving a silent huff as they proceeded on in silence towards those coordinates... ... To already find a spar in progress?
"Hm? Too late?"
"Mm... no, no, the energy's too low for that sort of team. They're probably just killing time with each-other." Still, they seemed quite dedicated to it - thrown knives, active smokescreens, and a high level of adrenaline? It seemed that with the Sealdramon's last throw, the fight reached at least a bit of a lull - and with a small pat on the back from the General, his demonic mount ascended, kicking up a fair bit of sand as Demon planted on the ground.
And with a flick off the side, Denryu would land a few yards off to the left of the younger tamer, simply giving a nod in his direction. They wouldn't interfere with the fight in question (no more than landing would already have), and the General would simply address him:
"You're the one who called for a sparring partner?"

"Tricky tricky, Angel, but that's not gonna-" The teenager interrupted his own sentence as he caught the overhead Devidramon. On most days flying digimon were about as special as airplanes, but it seemed unlikely that a flying digimon would choose this route, especially because it was coming from civilization rather than going toward it. The digimon trading knife cuts were too otherwise engaged to look up, but that changed as the typically champion-level digimon landed rather close to their General. Acting out of concern for safety, Sealsdramon broke off to put himself between those two, which Denryu's side would discover once the dust cleared. However, the stealth digimon sheathed his knife when a human hopped off. Inept, incompetent, or maybe even misguided, the captain had yet to meet a human who was just hostile. "Hi there!" This gentleman was certainly over the average age of humans in this world, but not absurdly so.
Tadayoshi approached the stranger and gave a good, sincere bow as he spoke in his native tongue, "I'm Tadayoshi Teppei. This is some of my team. It's a pleasure to meet you." His tone sure was a lot more polite and formal to Denryu than it was to his own guys just a moment ago. During his introduction, Angel thought she would strike while Sealdramon's back was turned. He detected her early, grabbed the wrist behind the blade, chopped the inside of her elbow, and by doing so got the leverage he needed forcibly to point her own blade at her throat.
"Your arm is too stiff."
"How'd you even hear me?"
Sealsdramon frowned. "I didn't hear you. I just know you. Now stand down." He hissed the last bit, like he was being extra sure Angel heard him on this: "The fight is over for now."

Was the Sealsdramon a bit naive for letting down his guard?
Sure, but neither Denryu nor Demon decided to comment on it, the one-armed Devidramon simply giving a small snort as he looked over to the fight. The General, meanwhile, simply returned a nod to Tadayoshi, his Japanese a bit rougher in response as it hid a British edge: "The name's Oliver, and same to you."
"Hm?" Well, wasn't that interesting - it seemed the bunny hadn't decided that the fight was over yet. For her efforts, the Turuiuemon was swiftly planted into the sand, quickly bringing the spar to an end. At this, the electronic voice in Denryu's Xros Loader crackled out with a laugh! "Heh! I'm a fan of this lizard already."
"Tch. C'mon out, already." With a flash, a Renamon appeared out of a briefly-visible green wire-frame, the fox stretching out her arms as she properly looked at the three figures at hand. "Guess I should introduce the rest: this is 'Angel'," the Renamon raised a hand in recognition, "and Demon." The Devidramon nodded at his own name. "These two are the 'center' and 'off-center' of my own army."
"Boss here's a bit on-the-nose with code names, but they more-or-less stuck, so what are you really going to do about it." The Renamon gave a chuckle, curling her right palm around her left fist. "So what's the deal here? A good ol' scrap?"
"Same routine?" The Devidramon blinked, looking towards the Sealsdramon. "Too shallow. Won't train thinking that way, Angel."
"Tch... well-"
"We're both Xros Generals," Denryu interrupted Angel with a shrug, "So how about something with a little more substance? If you don't mind getting involved, we could go for 'tag the leader' or something like that." As for the rules behind that, honestly, they'd probably make them up on the spot!

Tadayoshi caught the foreign accent, not to mention the western name, but Oliver was hardly his first foreigner. Not in this occupation. It didn't faze him. What did get him was that Oliver was a general, not to mention with a core partner was a Renamon. That convinced him to point his loader at Sealsdramon and Turuiemon and declare, "Sealsdramon, Turuiemon, defuse." Two digimon soon became eleven. Eight of them were MetalKoromon, each with a letter painted in red on their backs, but one was a BlackTerriermon, one was a Renamon like Oliver's Angel, and one was a Commandramon whose scales and armor's desert camouflage fit the environment well and wielded a G36C as his primary weapon. "That's Alpha through Hotel, if you know the NATO alphabet. I'm sure you can tell which is which. The bunny is Angel - real name, not a code name - the spymaster, Renamon, and the captain here is Commandramon, Silence's core." Tadayoshi said the word 'Silence' in English.
The boy couldn't hide his surprise at meeting another General. While he spoke he appeared somewhat daunted. Suddenly, he wasn't so special anymore. "Well, isn't this interesting." As for the suggestion of activity, he deferred to Commandramon. "What do you think?"
The soldier clearly knew discipline. He was standing stiffly, rifle held tightly, muzzle pointed downward, neither smiling nor frowning at Denryu of his companions. He spoke without passion, "Less conventional training sounds acceptable, only I have reservations about putting humans in the line of fire for a training exercise."
"I have reservations about putting humans in the line of her fire." Renamon nudged the BlackTerriermon with a foot. Angel simply smirked like she was proud of the accusation.
"There would have to be safety measures and an abundance of restraint. Even then-"
"-Protecting me is part of your job, captain. It might be good to practice being mindful of that." Commandramon bit his lip while Tadayoshi addressed Oliver. "But he's not wrong. I'd be trusting you not to get carried away, and you us. I still think it sounds like a good experience."

"Oh, that is rare." Angel couldn't help but give a chuckle as a practical swarm of MetalKoromon fell out of the Turuiemon's visage, practically surrounding the BlackTerriermon that shared her name. So their names were practically 'A through H', and there wasn't only another Angel, but another Renamon as well?
"Silence... so that would be the team name?" Nodding at the explanation, Denryu returned his own: "We go by 'Metal Drive'." Indeed, 'Oliver' didn't seem as surprised that Tadayoshi was a Xros General - after all, it was how it was posted in the request - but it would still prove to make this spar interesting. As for the reservation about getting the humans involved, Denryu gave a small shrug.
"We'll exercise restraint, of course - but part of leading a Xros Army is knowing how to multitask and manage resources. With eight or more heads in the fray, you're simultaneously juggling multiple perspectives and objectives. Providing a sort of secondary goal will help practice communication." And communication was something that Denryu stressed - unXrosed, it would be easy to notice the earpiece in Angel's ear, a similar one hooked to the Devidramon's own. "Either way, we'll call the fight at first contact, and go from there?"
Presuming that was acceptable, Denryu would produce two more members of his army, a Kokuwamon and a BladeKuwagamon appearing from their own wireframes.
"Volt, Blade. Xros."
"Aye!"
Metal Drive's own Xros'd forms were in a bit of a different category than Silence's: as the BladeKuwagamon's core embedded itself into the Renamon's back, the fox didn't grow in size or change in stature. Instead, her gloves were replaced with metal gauntlets, and a rapier appeared, sheathed at her right side. The Devidramon gained a helmet, an electronic visor covering his several eyes, his previously-missing left arm restored with the addition of more data.
"Still, we might be at a disadvantage against a gunner... actually, what level are we capping this off at?"
Good question! "Hm. I can go as high as Xros-5, but I don't think we need to involve Super Mega with this. How about... we use a maximum of seven partners? At most, we can support three ultimates," using two Xros-3s and the Super Evolution, "or a Mega, Ultimate, and Champion," using a Xros-4, Super Evolution, and Xros-2.
"Putting a lot of faith in me using Taomon, aren't you, boss?"

Oliver caught on quick. Asked about the team name, the younger boy nodded in confirmation. That was indeed them. In another time they were more secretive, hence part of the name's inspiration. But now? They had nothing to hide anymore. Their great deed was done. Tadayoshi repeated, "Metal Drive," with a lot of trouble pronouncing it because of his accent, but a certain American teacher of his did improve his diction by insisting he pronounce her name correctly. Tadayoshi did notice the ear piece and noted, These guys are total pros. They came prepared. This was what he wanted: a higher level of partner. He got it. Now he was actually a bit intimidated by the difficulty spike, but he got what he wanted. "I accept."
What did not intimidate the younger General was the fusions before him. Standard X2's. He didn't fall for the show, which he demonstrated by keeping his team unfused for the moment. It was after that when Oliver explained just how he and his team were so professional and together: he was experienced, much more so than Tadayoshi, which was another rarity in itself. Still, he told himself he wanted this. "X3 has insofar been my team's limit, I'm afraid. We haven't yet found a X4 combination we can hold for any length of time. However... let's set the limit at X4." Tadayoshi smiled. "We do our best work under pressure."
Commandramon finally showed a little emotion by cracking a small smile. "Yes, sir."
"If firearms are your weakness, Metal Drive," Renamon taunted with crossed arms and an aloof attitude, "you are going to have a bad day."
"I'd rather not restrict our numbers though, Mr. Oliver. I already have one who won't do well here in this dessert." Tadayoshi pointed his Loader screen at them, which was showing a Rukamon swimming around in space quite cheerfully.
"Hiya! Good luckies, buddies!"
"But I'd like everyone possible to part of this exercise. I'm sure someone of your experience won't object. I suspect that like me, you aren't showing me your full numbers. It's only smart." Already the strategy wheels were spinning in his brain. Already he thought he knew exactly how to avoid being tagged. "Barring stage restrictions and safety consciousness... let us not hold back. Team, withdraw." On that command, the boy was suddenly standing all alone, all digimon stored in the Loader. "Shall we step away, prepare the troops, begin in ten?"

Interesting - they wanted to fight at a power deficit?
Denryu wasn't going to deny them that opportunity. "Alright, X4 it is. And go ahead and bring everyone you have to the table if you want." With the opposing General unused to using mega-level forms, that made it about even anyway. Though at Renamon's taunting, Angel couldn't help but give a grin. "Trust me, we've handled worse."
Intimidation and dolphins aside, Denryu gave a nod at the set-up. Ten minutes of preparation would be plenty, and for as little information as he had, he felt like he wasn't going to use much of it other than to set up the forms he was going to use for the fight. "We'll kick it off when the clock hits... 2:53 then." With a glance down at his Loader, he gave a nod, and led his team on a short distance away briefly considering his options.
"What are you thinking?"
"Bog standard, I guess. If we're going with direct contact, I need a blink user - and besides, if they want to square off against a Xros-4, I'm not going to deny them."
"Heh. Sounds good to me."
There wasn't much 'planning' other than that. Behind the cover of that dune, Denryu adjusted the chips in his Xros Loader to properly boot up those forms, and as the time limit neared, Metal Drive's formation showed itself. On the ground was Renamon, though she no longer wielded a rapier - instead, she sported a buckler, a dangerous-looking scimitar, and a contraption that looked like a jetpack strapped across her back.
Right above, the Devidramon floated in place, looking similar to how he did before, but he took care to keep his claws clenched and pointed away from the adversary. Denryu himself stood atop the Devidramon's back, keeping a close eye on the battlefield below.
To Denryu, this was a standard formation - but it would immediately be a bit beyond what Team Silence figured they could reach.
Renamon X4 Form - "Raider". [Renamon/BladeKuwagamon/MailBirdramon/Knightmon] Devidramon X3 Form - "Devil". [Devidramon/Kokuwamon/Reppamon]

Naturally, Tadayoshi was equipped with a shiny analog watch on his left wrist; the digital kind were spotty at best in this place. "2:53," he agreed before himself also wandering off. It was only after being long out of eyeshot and earshot that he told his Xros Loader, "Oliver made a mistake with his choice of objective. We have a huge advantage." The first asset to leave Tadayoshi's Xros Loader wasn't actually a digimon: it was an M1126 Infantry Carrier vehicle. Not exactly stealthy, but certainly sturdy. "We still need to come up with a name for this thing, by the way. The Silencer?"
"Too on the nose."
"Well no one can touch me if they can't get through this." Tadayoshi punctuated his point by banging on the armor with his fist, producing a metallic clang noise. "And that's assuming they can find me - and that they can get close." He smiled. Tadayoshi thought he was quite well-defended. "That leaves the offense element. If he's smart he'll be using a X4. I think it's time for another experiment, then. Angel!"
Angel exited the Loader. "Whaddya want?"
"I'm letting you off the leash. Don't make me regret this. You are forbidden to target Oliver."
"But I can bust up the digimon?"
"Only until they stop fighting back."
"Fine, fine!"
"I need Renamon, the Lieutenant, and the Missimon.
They materialized as well: Renamon, six Missimon, and one Jetmon. "Here."
"Alright!"
"Yes, sir!"
"Let's try a fusion without the captain. If this doesn't work, we'll just have to use what we've got. DigiXros!" Like always, the digimon became little balls of light that spun in a helix shape until they matched the height of the massive creature they made: BlackMegaGargomon. "Oh, my-"
"...Oh. I'm gonna enjoy this." Tadayoshi, too, liked the sound of gigantic artillery rounds loading.
"Oh, yes. That will do. As for support: you'll need something aerial. That we know we can do. Captain, and I need the MetalKoromon and Hagurumon." Obediently appearing, he fused them into an X3: Blimpmon. "All of you be ready to defuse and refuse on the fly. We might get experimental here. Who does that leave?" A little mental inventory revealed that the unaccounted for included the Rocketmon twins and Rashi. Well Rashi couldn't help on his own here, but, "Jekyll, Hyde, deploy." They did. "You're riding with me. We'll look for a chance for you to sneak under all the flak."
"Yes, sir!"
"Got it."
"Alright. Angel, captain, count to..." Yoshi referred to his watch. "Ninety. When you've finished, open fire."
"Understood."
"Fucking finally!"
Tadayoshi, Jekyll, and Hyde all climbed into the APC. "Sealing up!" Then he popped into the driver's seat, activated active camo, and waited. Unfortunately, he didn't think about one thing: the impressions his tires made in the sand. He wasn't moving yet, but they were visible enough to be noticed even if they weren't obvious.
Eventually, time ran out. Silence's strike was exactly on the dot. Blimpmon began to ascend rapidly and, after running through his targets, chose the one closer to his level. "Stun Blast!" This shell shot from one of his two main cannons wasn't going to hit, but it wasn't meant to. It was just supposed to detonate near the target. Denryu was making himself obvious unlike Tadayoshi, but the captain had the good sense to stick with nonlethals... assuming Oliver didn't just plain fall.
Angel wasn't so restrained, which was lucky since her target wasn't carrying fragile cargo. However, she also wasn't so disciplined as to shoot. Instead she wanted to play with her target. Herself also aerial, she held her position just over the dune while taunting, "Come at me, little girl! You ain't the Renamon I love to crush, but you'll do just fine!" and also firing her thrusters off just to show how much horsepower her internal engine was hauling.
"And now we wait, sir?" Jekyll asked.
"Ideally, yes. But since when has a battle ever gone ideally?"
Angel fused with the Missimon, Jetmon, and Renamon to X4 BlackMegaGargomon. Commandramon fused with Jekyll and Hyde and Hagurumon to X3 Blimpmon. Tadayoshi activated his vehicle's active camo (1/3). -Active Camo: Light bends around your vehicle, preventing it from being spotted. This effect is strongest when the vehicle is still, with imperfections and glimmers of light exposing it when in motion. Active for up to two posts, but then cannot be activated for another two posts. 3/thread limit.
Blimpmon attacked Devidramon - Devil with Stun Blast. -Stun Blast: Similar to a flashbang grenade without the flash, this digimon fires a shell out of a cannon with enough of a loud bang and concussive force to deafen and severely disorient an opponent for two posts. Cooldown: 2 posts. -Relevant passive Slow And Steady: This digimon may be slow, but he’s also heavily armed and armored. His base speed is reduced by 20%, but base damage and endurance against damage are increased by the same amount.
Angel used Jet Thrust. -Jet Thrust: This digimon activates afterburners increase its speed by 50% for three posts. Cooldown: 3 posts.
The APC is camouflaged: 2 posts remaining.
Angel has activated her afterburners: 3 posts remaining.
Stun Blast must cool down: 2 posts remaining. Jet Thrust must cool down: 3 posts remaining,

"Interesting..."
It wasn't Denryu's intent to 'peek' as to what their practice adversaries were going to pull off, but something like a Blimpmon was hard to hide around the corner. Demon craned his neck up towards the vehicle, growling under his breath. "Indeed. So their tamer's intending to hide in their vehicle while we're out in the open?"
"It makes our objective much simpler to understand."
"So our gameplan?
"Challenge it head-on, of course." It didn't take long for time to finally roll over, and the moment that time flicked over on the D-Arc, the Blimpmon didn't wait to fire on their target, the Devidramon! The dragon gave a growl, and the Renamon glared right at the taunting BlackMegaGargomon.
"Oh, I'll show you...
"Angel. Fake an attack. You're assaulting the Blimpmon." Without hesitation, Denryu flicked a card between his fingers, and slashed it straight through the Xros Loader. 'Devil' raised his hands up: "Ultimate Adamas!"
Gaiamon's shield appeared, a massive plate of steel, blocking the concussive blast short. In that same interval, Angel drew her cutlass, dashed several yards forward, and poised her legs leap straight towards her target, launching herself at full velocity for the machine's chest.
... Before she vanished from the spot. But the Blimpmon would see her clearly, landing right in the middle of the 'Adamas' on the side opposite Demon, her feet picking up a fair bit of gunpowder as she did so. And using that as a makeshift platform, she kicked off, intent to go right for the Blimpmon!
"Demon, eyes open. Your goal right now is to ensure her success in boarding."
"Tch... to be stuck as your mount..."
Demon forgoes his own technique to use the effect of 'Gaiamon':
Ultimate Adamas: The target Digimon creates a small metal shield beyond parallel, stronger than even Chrome Digizoid. It lingers for one post, fully absorbing all attacks coming from a single direction.
Ultimate Adamas buffers and cancels Stun Blast. Angel fakes a charge towards BlackMegaGargomon, using Kohenkyo to force her momentum in another direction, landing on top of Ultimate Adamas before pushing off to make a break straight for the Blimpmon!

"Boss, he's airborne!"
"I see that, Jekyll, thank you." Yoshi peered out between the slits in his little window at the dragon rider and frowned. "Stand by, you two. We'll work a new plan."
Following his mark carefully, Blimpmon had his eye on Oliver and so could promptly report, "Digicards!" soon as he saw them used to his whole team via comm link.
Angel was prepared. She was ready, and she was extra swift for the moment. Angel's attack didn't have a chance at making contact because she deftly swerved to one side in the air. An impressively timed move to be sure, but a useless one; there was no attack coming at all. "Wha-?" As for Blimpmon, he hadn't the time, reflexes, or speed like Angel to do a thing about this clever and impressive feint. Such a massive creature, the X3 was helpless to dodge. Nothing prevented Angel from successfully latching on to the blimp. He had been boarded. Good thing he had no cargo! There was an apparent weakness in this plan, though: now Devidramon had nobody to cover him. "Zeppelin Zip!" Angel had better have been hanging on tight, because as soon as she was on the blimp jolted forward with a burst of speed that didn't seem appropriate for that sort of vehicle. His intent? To spear right into Devidramon's midsection. "Angel, interference!" he called after it.
As for Angel, she tried to do something about Angel on Blimpmon. Once she found her location, she thrusted upwards and joined the now fully aerial battle. She tried to time it so that when she delivered a solid, "Thruster Punch!" she would really wail on that fox and knock her clean off the Blimp. The truth was she didn't do it over any tactical plan or because Blimpmon told her to; she just really, really hated those stupid foxes. Just for extra pop, a small engine propelled her arm for extra force in the punch.
Back on the ground, Tadayoshi had finished rethinking for the moment. "Jekyll, get on the controls. Creep real slow and get us to the top of that dune, then hold."
"Sir!"
While that Rocketmon did as he was told, Tadayoshi asked of the other, "Hyde, get on those cannon controls. Active camo won't last forever, and I want us able to defend ourselves."
"Ya mean the really big cannon?" Hyde asked with a smirk. "Yeah. Thought you wanted a turn."
"Yes, sir!"
"But what about offense, sir?"
"I'm still working on that."
Blimpmon attacked Demon and attempted to shake off Angel with Zeppelin Zip. -Zeppelin Zip: This digimon puts on a sudden burst of speed and attempts to ram into the opponent with its nose spike. -Relevant passive Slow And Steady (passive): This digimon may be slow, but he’s also heavily armed and armored. His base speed is reduced by 20%, but base damage and endurance against damage are increased by the same amount. Angel attacked Angel with Thruster Punch. -Thruster Punch: This digimon activates a thruster in her elbow just as she punches an opponent. This boosts the blunt force damage by 25% and knocks an opponent far away from her on hit. Cooldown: 1 post.
The APC is camouflaged: 1 post remaining. Angel has activated her afterburners: 2 posts remaining.
Thruster Punch must cool down: 1 post remaining.
Stun Blast must cool down: 1 posts remaining. Jet Thrust must cool down: 2 posts remaining.

"Tch. Target not in sight."
Boarding the Blimpmon without much resistance, the Xros'd mega let out a frustrated growl through the radio, Denryu quickly returning a tap to confirm that he had heard the Renamon's message. "Interesting. The other General's taken different measures to conceal himself." Separating his position from the more powerful Digimon was a risky position to take, but at least in the short term, it paid off. And on the surface, it put Denryu at a definite disadvantage - after all, the other side would be fighting with their goal in plain sight: tag Denryu, and they would win.
But there was also a second way to clear this game.
"Tch!"
Feeling the engines roar to life through the Blimpmon's metallic body, the Renamon braced herself with the claw of her shield hand, hanging on as her body adjusted to the movement of her makeshift platform. Demon, meanwhile, growled at the opposing Blimpmon, tensing his claws in anticipation. He did not move out of the way: instead, his claws sparked with a powerful electrical current, an utterance through the microphone warning the Renamon of the coming attack. In the next moment, he would throw both of his claws forward, a powerful surge of red electrical energy snapping out in an attempt to catch the large metallic target.
Speaking of catch? Well, as Denryu kicked off the monster's back, skidding against the sand below, Demon would then reach his claws out, and attempt to literally catch the Blimpmon, directing the spike underneath his arm while wrapping his arms around the front. Yes, he was definitely lighter, but they were both ultimates.
Angel, meanwhile, kicked off the back of the Blimpmon before that surge would hit. It worked well enough for her, anyway - she had a big mech of her own trying to blast her out of the sky with what was effectively a straightforward punch!
As expected, they're trying to rush it... but like you can just charge me like that straightforward!
Angel, now!
ELECTRICAL BREAKER!!!
Both of her hands clasped right around the base of that scimitar, the blade practically glowing with a dangerous amount of electricity, intending to meet that incoming fist like a baseball bat! Whatever the Renamon was doing, she was incredibly confident in the strength of this attack. And it wasn't just from one angle:
As Denryu kicked off, he swiped a second card, keeping his third - a Zero-Arms Grani - held between his pinkie and ring finger. The active card, cast on Demon, was a different one: around the dragon, three small meteorites would appear and begin to orbit, their path set to slam right into the side of the larger metal Digimon. So long as Denryu had card slashes, his active participation in the fight was hardly a disadvantage!
Challenged by the Blimpmon, Demon uses 'Crimson Arc' during the approach, before trying to catch the Blimpmon with his body to mitigate the damage across his entire frame.
Denryu kicks off and lands in the sand behind the dragon. He uses the modify card 'Meteo Orbit' to try and attack Blimpmon from an unconventional angle, using Demon as the target.
Angel, challenged by the BlackMegaGargomon, uses 'Electrical Breaker' to attempt to overwhelm her opponent.
Card Name: Meteo Orbit
Type: Modify Rank: Platinum Duration: 3 Posts A trio of meteor-like satellites begin to orbit the target Digimon, each surrounding them from an equidistant point. Each satellite can either crash into an enemy target for large damage or crash into a single attack in order to absorb the damage
Crimson Arc
Combining the forces of electricity and darkness, Devidramon tenses a claw, charging it with electrical energy before thrusting the claw forward. The energy arcs out, drawn to strike the nearest enemy within twenty feet. 1 Post CD.
Electrical Breaker
Grasping both hands around the scimitar, the blade acts as a base as a massive sword-shaped construct of electrical energy is summoned around it, before being swung. Does massive damage on hit. 3 Post CD.

Tadayoshi thought he saw an opportunity here: Oliver was alone, as his digimon were just focusing on their opponents instead of their objective in the absence of a fix on their own. But the clock was fast ticking for Silence to make a real move before Yoshi's position was revealed. Even worse, it was ticking still faster before Angel - the good one (well, the one on Silence's side) - would get absolutely clobbered. But for that, Yoshi actually had an answer. Oliver probably thinks he's the only one with powerful items. Let's see if this thing actually works. Withdrawing a small box from one of his pockets about big enough to contain a couple of chocolates - if there had been any in it - and willed it to protect Angel. When the box began to glow a feint pink, he thought it worked. When that scimitar disappeared without the hostile Angel meaning it to, he knew it did.
Devidramon saw some more success. He didn't have a chance at stopping a battering ram of that size per se, but he did complete the maneuver of clasping onto Blimpmon, electrocuting him in the process. The continued momentum carried the pair for a few hundred yards after the catch before it ran down.
"Camo's gonna go, sir!" Jekyll warned.
"Angel, captain, keep your marks occupied! We're making our move! Talons 2 and 3, make a rush for Oliver and tag him now!"
"Yes, sir!"
"Hell, yeah!"
As Jekyll and Tadayoshi hastily switched seats the camouflage fell, revealing the APC's position at the top of a dune. That was the moment Yoshi opened the rear loading door, which the Rocketmon twins knew was their cue. They spun around each other in a helix shape while they charged Oliver. Already they were rockets with the ability to fly very fast, but Oliver got even less reaction time when the twins each used their ability, "Rocket Ram!"
"Rocket Ram!"
That made them still quicker. When they thought they were close to Oliver, they then broke formation and each circled around to his 10-o'-clock and 5-o'-clock. Jekyll was first to launch himself at Oliver from the front, followed by Hyde from the rear - two attempts to tag Oliver. Blimpmon's job, then, was to make sure that was a matter solely between the twins and the enemy leader. The problem? He had to protect himself first. "Cannon Intercept!" Yes, the angle was unconventional, but Blimpmon was practically an omnidirectional weapons platform. Boom! One concussive shell from one of his rear cannons was all it took to blow the whole lot of meteors to dust. It was also an efficient way to break out of Devidramon's grapple, as the force of the explosion forced Demon good and far away from the bomber. Now he was at a range more suited for himself, and he was more than happy for it. Both of his main cannons started to point upward at an angle before he declared his, "Zeppelin Blast!" Boom! Boom! Why was he shooting so far over Devidramon, though? Because at the apex of their trajectory, each of the two capsules he just shot broke open, scattering dozens of explosive shells in the sky over Demon.
As for the dueling angels, the black metallic one attempted to grab on to Angel with both hands and keep her close as she began to spin like a tornado. Well, maybe there was no 'like' about it; Angel's speed was such that she created a true, literal tornado where she hovered and, should she have failed to hold the Renamon down, she'd simply throw the tornado toward at her instead. "Gargo Tornado!"
As for Tadayoshi, all he could do from here... was wait. So he shut the door behind the twins, turned up the AC to shield himself from the desert heat, and continued to watch, now visible through his windshield.
Angel was protected from Electrical Breaker by Just Friends. -Artifact: Just Friends [Major Artifact]: A small, rectangular box, covered in bright wrapping paper. Chances are that it could pass as a box of chocolates at plain sight. On use, the digimon is able to nullify the effects of an attack with a cooldown of 3 posts or less directed at them or at somebody else, as long they're within line of sight and are holders of Just Friends as well. Once per thread. Blimpmon was hit by Crimson Arc and caught by Demon. Blimpmon nullified Meteo Orbit with Cannon Intercept and knocked back Demon. -Cannon Intercept: This digimon fires one shell at an incoming ability, and the force from its explosion neutralizes the attack as well as knocking back the attacker if the ability was a close-range attack. This ability deals no damage but also doesn’t take a post’s action. Cooldown: 3 posts. Jekyll and Hyde attempted to tag Denryu with the help of Rocket Ram. -Rocket Ram: These digimon both put on sudden bursts of speed before ramming up to 2 targets to deal damage and knock them back.
Blimpmon attacked Demon with Zeppelin Blast. -Zeppelin Blast: This digimon’s two main cannons rotate to the right angle for shooting one mortal each high above an opponent. At the peak of the ark, the mortars split into twenty each that then proceed to rain down on an enemy and explode. This attack’s damage is boosted by 50%. Cooldown: 2 posts -Relevant passive Slow And Steady (passive): This digimon may be slow, but he’s also heavily armed and armored. His base speed is reduced by 20%, but base damage and endurance against damage are increased by the same amount.
Angel attempted to grab Angel, then attacked her with Gargo Tornado. -Gargo Tornado: This digimon rapidly spins around on the spot, producing a small tornado that she launches at the enemy without moving herself. If caught inside, an opponent will both be damaged by the attack and be forced to spin around extremely fast, making them very dizzy for two posts. Cooldown: 1 post.
The APC is no longer camouflaged. Angel has activated her afterburners: 1 post remaining.
Cannon Intercept must cool down: 3 posts remaining. Zeppelin Blast must cool down: 2 posts remaining. Gargo Tornado must cool down: 1 post remaining.
Active Camo must cool down: 2 posts remaining. Jet Thrust must cool down: 1 posts remaining.
Thruster Punch has finished cooling down. Stun Blast has finished cooling down.

"Tch!"
Damn, what was that? The brief flicker of her scimitar was enough for the Renamon to feel her attack unnaturally follow-through - and by her baseball-swinging angle, she was just a few inches away from being directly clobbered herself, kicking off of that makeshift metal wall to try and make her escape. Simultaneously, the radio in her ear gave a crackle.
"Angel. A vehicle has appeared at ground level. Target spotted."
"Understood. I'll give big, tall, and ugly here the slip when I get a chance..."
Of course, that wasn't the only part of this three-way compartmentalized battle! The Devidramon had practically caught and halted the Blimpmon in place, but that concussive blast was good enough to shoot him back a few yards. He growled in frustration, hands sparking once more as the Blimpmon prepared the mortar. They wanted to try and compete for air superiority?
"Raider's Lightning!"
Then they would have to compete with him! As the mortar was shot up, Demon followed up with his own salvo, a sparking ball of electricity that soared up into the air, before spreading out into a terrifying electrical storm, one well within reach of both the Blimpmon and even the BlackMegaGargomon. He tucked his arms and wings close afterwards, as that rain of explosions encompassed his position, but the salvo was thrown.
And as it sparked above, a powerful bolt of crimson lightning woulds trike down, right towards the center of the two gigantic, airborne metallic targets.
But... didn't that make Denryu defenseless? Indeed, it might appear that both the Rocketmon had a straight shot - but the General already had another card lined up. A quick slash made a wireframe appear before him, the General sprinting atop it as it appeared - and as the first Rocketmon made his approach?
TONK.
They would be met with what felt like an instant wall of Chrome Digizoid. In fact, the headbutt had hit the bottom of 'Zero-Arms Grani', a makeshift airship summoned from the card itself. The force of the attack itself shoved Denryu upward, out of range of the second charge, the General easily keeping his balance atop the vehicle. If one thing was clear here, the General wasn't afraid to get his own hands dirty.
Angel, though, was in a bit more of a bind. She easily ducked the grapple attempt, using her jets to try and push herself further away from the other 'Angel', but was threatened by the approach of a tornado that threatened to pull her in anyway!
Trying to outpace this is just going to push me out of the fight. Don't sense a card coming either. In which case...
She'd just have to meet it head-on? No, that wouldn't work either, but she did have one other option at the moment: abandon the fight. With a click, she cancelled the propulsion on her engine, and subsequently dropped like a rock, trading her current altitude for speed to try and cut under the vortex. She'd click the engine on a moment later, flying close and level towards the ground, attempting to give chase to the APC itself.
It was risky, giving her opponent the advantage in altitude - but, then again, going after the tamer directly would force an action out of the other mega, at least in theory!
Demon uses 'Raider's Lightning' to create an electrical storm above the battlefield, before bracing for impact from the mortar. Raider's Lightning activates against Blimpmon and BlackMegaGargomon.
Angel, realizing she can't contest the tornado, cuts off her engines to cut altitude in an attempt to dodge. She concedes her altitude advantage and attempts to chase after the rushing vehicle.
Denryu activates the card 'Zero Arms Grani' to create a flying mount, using it as a barricade between himself and an attacking Rocketmon.
Card Name: ZERO-ARMS Grani
Type: Modify Rank: Chrome Digizoid Duration: 3 Post Effect: The target Digimon summons Grani to glide upon. Grani is reliably stable, incredibly sturdy, and capable of flying high and fast through the air.
Raider's Lightning
Combining the forces of electricity and darkness, Devidramon tenses a claw to create a ball of red, electrical energy, before hurling it into the air. The ball expands into a fierce, electrical storm, striking the two nearest targets within a fifty foot range, for as long as its duration. Three post duration, three post cooldown.
Cards used: 3/7 Kohenkyo Available. Electrical Breaker CD: 1/3 Crimson Arc Available. Grani Duration: 1/3 Raider's Lightning Duration: 1/3

"Did he just-?"
"Are you kidding me?" Jekyll and Hyde were not thrilled about being so close, yet so far. It was gonna take more than to make them give up, though. They continued to relentlessly pursue the enemy leader through the air.
Tadayoshi noticed. He's got a vehicle now, too, huh? Cover blown, Yoshi hit the gas and floored it. Maybe he hadn't invested in engine upgrades, but the carrier could fly a bit faster than its initial appearance suggested. Was it enough to escape downhill from the huntress with a jetpack? That was a risk Tadayoshi did not feel the need to take. His vehicle is fast, light, and airborne, were advantages the younger General unfortunately had to concede to Grani. The summoned vehicle didn't get all the credit, however. But the Silencer has this! Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang! The armored personnel carrier was fighting back! Its cannon was locked on Renamon as it started to empty a cylinder full of flashbang grenades in her direction at a frighteningly high rate of fire.
But the truth was, Tadayoshi didn't like what he was seeing in this battle. His air force couldn't get the upper hand at this rate and he thought it would be foolish to keep it up any longer. While stirring up a dust cloud behind himself in the sand circling the battlefield, Yoshi used one hand to hold his Loader and declare, "Blimpmon, defuse!" Blimpmon managed that, but the problem was he couldn't defuse until he dealt with the lightning attack, else he'd just doom the whole group. Ack, that stung, but it wasn't the end of him yet! Following that, he put down out of the lightning ball's range and became several digimon again. "If we can't win in the air, we'll just try anti-air. Top! Show 'em your new trick!" "With pleasure, sir." Commandramon smiled. "The rest of you, step back!" They did. No matter whether Renamon caught up to him or not, he at least had time to drive close enough so that the MetalKoromon could flee to him and magnetically stick to one side. Unfortunately, Hagurumon could not evacuate, for Yoshi was unwilling to open a hole and let him in on the chance Angel made it under all that flak. All that poor thing could do was cover their head with their gears and levitate up a dune as fast as possible. "Oh, dear, oh, dear, oh, dear, oh dear...!" "Commandramon, digivolve to..." This is gonna be awesome. "...Tankdramon!" The tank dragon was covered in a few scratches and dents and burns, evidence of his previous damage. Nonetheless, he stood sturdy as his two main cannons both trained on his aerial foe. "Air Blaster!" Bang! Bang! Ratatatatat! This was an ability specifically programmed to be a flying enemy's worst nightmare, and with the raw volume of projectiles on their way toward Demon, not to mention the variety between both missiles and .50 rounds, it sure looked like one. "Twin Missile!" Angel was not idle, either. She continued to hover above the battlefield and aimed one of her shoulder missiles at Angel, hoping to cut her off along her path chasing the Silencer.
The Silencer attacked Angel with the Flash Cannon (1/3).
-Flash Cannon: A ranged defensive measure, firing flash-bang grenades at up to a medium distance. Can disorient Digimon up to your level for one post. Once used, cannot be activated for another two posts. 3/thread limit. Blimpmon was hit by Raider's Lightning. Blimpmon slide evolved to Ultimate Tankdramon. Tankdramon attacked Demon with Air Blaster. -Air Blaster: All of this digimon's guns aim upward and fire at once, and the chainguns fire nonstop while the main cannons fire guided anti-aircraft missiles. This ability can only be used on flying targets, but targets that are flying when this ability is used take double damage from this ability. This ability defines 'flying' as an altitude of fifty feet or more. Cooldown: 2 posts. -Relevant Passive Wild Fire (passive): This digimon is packing dangerously heavy weapons, but they’re cumbersome and difficult to aim. Base damage is boosted by 40%, but base accuracy is reduced by 10%.
Angel attacked Angel with Twin Missile. -Twin Missile: This digimon launches one of her missiles immediately at a target and a second missile in the next post (not taking an action). Each missile does half a mega attack's usual damage but must be separately dodged or otherwise defended against to avoid damage. Cooldown: 3 posts.
Angel's afterburners have shut off.
Air Blaster must cool down: 2 posts remaining. Twin Missile must cool down: 3 posts remaining.
Gargo Tornado has finished cooling down. Active Camo must cool down: 1 posts remaining. Jet Thrust has finished cooling down.
