The conversation had turned fairly interesting, to say the least. Lightspeed Rescue even had different points of view on how to approach this situation. And that, of course, did not include the differences there might exist between them and the Mollusca Pirates' ideals. As the crabs slowly lowered their fighting stance and got ready for negotiations, the tension around the deck of the boat raised.
“We only have a beef with Leomon because that stupid lion built that island in our territory!” One of Burb’s crewmates hissed. The other nodded firmly. Then, the three crabs lowered their gaze a bit, as if they were remembering something saddening. “… I guess…” Burb muttered, his fangs still clenching against one another. “… I guess we’ll have to tell ya’.”
“The Mollusca Tribe lived happily in this territory. We were a crew of around fifteen Ganimon, just eating what we could find around these seas, always singing and laughing. We never bothered anyone'ya.” Burb’s glance had turned a lot less furious, and a lot more melancholic. “Then, that Leomon and that stupid crew arrived. They claimed this part of the seas as theirs. In their ship, they were bringing a bunch of trash and junk from all over the sea. We tried to fight them but… we lost.’ya.” A sigh.
“Leomon then ordered the crew to release all of the junk in our sea, so they could start building their own island, which is what you see right there.” One of the other two Ganimon continued the story. “One by one, they piled up all of that junk and called this their home. The rest of our tribe had to leave.”
The third crab finished the tale. “We found another place to live on the sea, but the food is scarce and the weather conditions are just awful, so our weakest members have gotten sick.”
“That’s why we formed the Mollusca Pirates’ya!” Burb jumped back into the conversation. “So we could recover our territory from that stupid Leomon! We built a bomb and are ready to blow the thing up… as soon as we can reach it. That’s where you’ve got to help us’ya!”
“Leomon just won’t leave the island behind. But if we destroy all of that junk, they won’t be able to build the island again! And even if they leave to gather more trash, they’ll probably just build the thing somewhere else! That’s why we have to blow the whole thing up. If Leomon dies or lives, we really don’t care.”
Finally, all of the cards were on the table. The negotiation was drawing closer to an end. However, the result was still unclear.
“There's our reason for destroying the island and why we can’t accept any other outcome. Whatever plan you have with Leomon, the island needs to be destroyed when you leave or we won’t give you the ship back! If you want to save Leomon or that stupid crew of beasts from the explosion, we couldn’t care less’ya!”
It could be said that the ideals of both crews did not clash too much. The crabs did not need anyone to die during the mission, but they wanted their territory back, no matter what. Could Amelie, David, and Ziggy really avoid someone died during their quest? And, if so, what could be a potential solution that left both Lightspeed Rescue and Mollusca Pirates satisfied, with Leomon alive, to boot?
