It was a nice day in the Server Woods today. The sun was bright but not incredibly hot as its rays of light cascaded through the leaves of the forest's trees; thick and sturdy with age. Gar was currently hanging upside-down on one of said tree's branches, arms crossed behind his head as he lightly swung by his legs. Dobermon, or more commonly known with Gar as Ruby, was laying in the grass below the tree. He kept a careful watch on Gar in the case he should slip from the branches and fall to the ground. But that wouldn't happen of course; Ruby would catch him before that. Before they had found themselves here, Gar had a long day. Not only was his school hours clogged up with testing or review packets, but he'd also had gymnastics practice that day. Not that Gar didn't enjoy practice, but he was already drained by the time it had come around.
Thankfully Ruby's day hadn't been as tiring. He'd spent his day scavenging around for food around the forest and storing whatever he found in a little cloth baggy he'd gotten from a village. The aforementioned baggy was now sitting beside Ruby's flank and filled with various edible mushrooms and leafy plants he expected to get ravaged by the end of the day in all part thanks to Gar. Speaking of the rascal.
"For someone who was complaining about a certain activity merely moments before, I would expect you would be relaxing in a manner less similar to it," Ruby announced up to Gar, one of his jet black docked ears twitching as a gust of wind blew by.
"Maybe so."
"You didn't listen to a word I said did you?"
"Oh yeah not a syllable," Gar replied with a chuckle, a wide grin spreading across his cheeks as he peered down at his partner.
"You are a nuisance at worst."
"Oh I've improved since last time then! Last time you said I was a nuisance at best and an occupational hazard at worst!"
"It's concerning how much pride you take at that."

"...So what should we do?" a boy asked as he laid on his back, looking at the leaf foliage above. The sun created such a nice looking effect on the green sheets, lacing it with lighter lime color. With the cool breeze blowing at it, it would made a nice atmosphere to sleep. But honestly? Tetsu is too worried to even nap right at the moment.
"Brother, you have asked that to me for like ten times today," the one who's carrying him on his back, a Gryzmon named Gryz answered. "And my answer is the same. That's why we're here today, remember? To survey the right, safe spot for them to experience Digital World."
Things happened that few days before, Tetsu's two friends saw Digimon for the first time. Following that, Digivices appeared on their room when they returned home.
...So now he have two newbies to take care of.
"...I dunno what to dooooo..."
"Well like I said, just calm down and chill," Gryz answered. His expression definitely showed how chill he is, considering how it's fixed at = w= face.
"Saying that totally doesn't help, you know?" Tetsu saw a fruit on a tree. He quickly stood on Gryz's back, then grabbed nearby branch. He vaulted himself and swung to another branch, close enough to grab a fruit and landed again on Gryz's back.
"Mmm, sometimes I'm glad that I'm a huge bear... So I won't get my air knocked out everytime you do that."
"Hey, rude! I only did this because I know you're strong enough! Anyway, want some honey citrus?"
"Pop me one," Gryz answered. Tetsu peeled the skin and immediately tossed it to the big bear's mouth. "...Oh, and it's seem you're not the only one being active today. Ahoy there, nice day isn't it?" Gryz greeted pair of human and his Digimon.

Ruby had popped their head up and towards where the two had come from moments before they had even made themselves know, his ears standing up straight."How unexpected. I can agree on today's w-" Ruby didn't get to finish as he heard a thump from behind him and stood up to turn and face Gar, who had just decided to drop out of the tree of his own accord, knocking his cloth bag of foraged snacks to the side in the process of moving. "What have I told you about dropping from trees like that you're going to break something!"
Gar simply laughed as he brushed some dirt and grass off of him. "But I didn't! So don't worry so much!"
"I wouldn't have to worry should you behave for more than five minutes in your life," Ruby replied with a huff as Gar strode up and gave them a pat to the head before shooting a grin over to the newcomers.
"Hello there! My name is Garret but please, call me Gar." He motioned over to Ruby before continuing. "And this is my friend Ruby! It's both a surprise and a pleasure to meet you."
"I can make my own introductions."
"We both know you wouldn't have though."
"You're point has been proven; touche."

How surprising, looks like he's not the only one with a kid partner that could cut his life by significant amount of time everytime they do something reckless. He have seen many human with Digimon partner, but this is the first time he saw someone with such close situation to him.
"Hmmm, looks like you also have it rough."
"Hey, what do you mean 'also', geez!?"
"Well, I mean it exactly as I meant. Sometimes you do that several times that it made my heart almost came out from my throat..."
"So rude..."
Then again, Gryz doesn't think that he should be so worried now. Tetsu is not the kid he was a year ago. He now has understood to not act so impulsively... albeit... albeit his headstrongness is another level now. Seriously, just how much he want to train?
"Name's Gryz... and this boy is my partner and human brother Tetsu. Although he looks like that he's a normal human, don't worry..."
"Hey what do you mean with the last part?" Tetsu pouted.
"Sometimes some Digimon wondering if you're half Digimon or something, brother."
"Well I'm not..."

Gar was positively beaming, as well as bouncing on the balls of his feet in pure excitement. "Ah I didn't know there were other human and digimon pairs! I thought me and Ruby were maybe some rare occurrence!"
"I must admit, however many cycles I have been through, I had put human and digimon relations as a thing of the past and of ancient mythos. It is, surprising but welcomed to see a resurgence of history. I can only hope it means good for our world rather than any other alternative," Ruby replied as they stretched out their legs before holding their head high while they looked towards the fellow partnered duo in front of him. "So for the sake of precautions, I must ask what your intentions are around here."
"Oh Ruby calm down! You really need to stop threatening any new people we meet," Gar said to his partner with a sigh.
"New people does not mean trustworthy people Gar. In the digital world, precautions are everything." Gar merely huffed in response but let Ruby continue with their mini interrogation of Gryz and Tetsu.

"Resurgence of history? ...I felt you might skipped a few generations then," Gryz answered, still calm. "...There are actually hundreds if not thousands of humans in Digital World at the moment, that number will spike more and more. Granted, it might because the Digital Portals around the world are closed and only one left in Shibuya exist why the number dwindled, but even then, to my belief, human and Digimons pair aren't rare the slightest. Neither it is rare for a bear and his human to greet someone on their way to survey the area."
Threatening though? "...No, this wouldn't be threatening," Tetsu answered this time. "He's right to have some precaution toward strangers. Granted, being attacked in Digital World by other human is honestly quite rare, but even then it was not unprecedented... thing is, if he want to be threatening, he would evolve to higher stage."
"It's as my partner said." The bear sat on his rump, still looking as calm as always. It felt like he's feeling a bit lazy. "Anyway, to answer your question, we're here just to survey the right place to bring humans to Digital World for the first time... to introduce them here, so to say."

"Interesting. Apologies, I haven't had nearly enough time this cycle to brush up on any changes to the world as I typically do," Ruby replied with a slight tilt of their head. "It should be mentioned however that level does not always equal capabilities. No offense of course to either of you."
Opting to just ignore Ruby and hype back up, Gar cut back into the conversation. "We just haven't seen any other humans around before! I mean plenty of other digimon of course since this is their home of origin but," Gar paused, hopping in place as they tried to properly articulate their words in a manner that would hopefully makes sense. "Ah I'm just really excited! This means an even better opportunity to make new friends and learn new things and and-"
"Gar please relax before you run out of breath and pass out in front of our new acquaintances," Ruby cut in to say.
Gar nodded and took a few moments to take some decent breaths in before continuing. "Sorry sorry, rambling is a bit of a bad habit of mine!"
"A bit?"
"Shush! Anyways it's really nice to meet you! I mean this place is rather nice I think at least for like, introductions to the Digital World," Gar replied, extravagant hand motions and all.

"...Ahh?"
Oh drats. Gryz's head quickly shot toward his partner who looked as if he's ready for some sort of battle. Talking about 'capability' only make Tetsu eager tor prove himself. This kid is wild. Usually he's more levelheaded, but every single time there is a talk about competence or capability it's always flips this kid's switch! The boy cracked his fists and ready to toss away his jacket vest.
"So what do you say about a 1--"No"" Gryz quickly pushed Tetsu's back and gently pin him down. A three meters bear pinning down a child looked dangerous, but looks like it's needed as the boy let out string of words (luckily not expletives) in effect of 'let me go' and 'let me have at 'em'. Gryz meanwhile just exhaled while looking as calm as usual.
"Sorry about him. My partner here have a complex of always trying to prove himself. When he does it's just problem of when he'll stop. He regularly spars with Digimon after all."
"Well he said capability! Let me show him what seniors like us are capable of! LEMME AT 'EM."
"We're still pretty much an advanced partners, not seniors yet, Brother; and no I won't let you fight someone so suddenly like that. And yes, this place looks suitable for that. "

Ruby chuckled at the exchange between Gryz and Tetsu. "No need for apologies. I understand the, enthusiasm, such a firecracker child can have for such things. I'm not the best at pacing myself in a fight so it might be for the best."
Gar clapped his hands together with a grin. "Alrighty then! There should be a few nice open spots around here, maybe by a river or stream? I mean first impressions are everything," Gar looked towards Ruby for a moment as he said this. Ruby let out alight huff in response to the look he received. "-so good scenery would be a wonderful first impression, don't you think?"
Ruby sat down on his haunches, a woven green and red bracelet slipping down his front leg a little. "I truly doubt that scenery will have such a hard impact on first impressions, but you do know humans best as a human, so I suppose I mustn't judge too harshly," Ruby replied to Gar.
"You just don't have a sense of how important scenery is then."
"Perhaps not. Or perhaps you're being a little over dramatic my friend."
"...touche."

Gryz just sighed. "Yes, yes, firecracker... I guess that's what you can call him. This kiddo is unfortunately... slightly too impulsive? Well, that's not important for now. I assume your questioning time has switched over to my turn... what are you doing here out of curiosity? You talk about humans being rare but there are more humans in Terminus, where the gate to Real World is... Unless somehow you arrived to this world through that dirty portal called Shibuya River?"
A good scenery would indeed give a good impression. "However, at the same time I think it's important to know dangers too," Tetsu quipped. It's seem that he has calmed down somewhat. "Well, when it comes to Sora... errr, my wheelchaired friend, I don't think I want to show her the danger of the world, but with Kazu... my other friend, I think it's important for him to know the danger that come with this world."
"Well there's that too, hmmm... At the same time, just asking some random Kuwagamon if they can scare some kids would absolutely out of question..."
"As much as that'd make their adrenaline pumping, I think that would be way too extreme..."
"Balancing between that is hard, hmmm..." Gryz muttered. "Speaking of which, not knowing about humans and such, how news are you two, by chance?"

"Well, I mean, falling in the river was kind of an accident?" Gar replied, answering Gryz's initial question. "I've also only been visiting here for a few months or so."
"While I've had my fair amount of cycles, I had a rather long absence before now. That paired with my, lacking socialization, has led me to become less informed than I would prefer," Ruby replied before tilting their head to the side and grinning with a glint against their teeth. "I would happily volunteer to show some uninformed the natural dangers of the digital world however."
"Ruby you don't need to be so intimidating when offering help."
Ruby just ignored Gar's point. "That being said no little bundles of joy would truly be hurt in the process." Ruby huffed as Gar patted the top of his head, pleased that the Dobermon had chilled out on the wording of the offer a little bit.

So they did come from the river... "I hope that you no longer use that one... the one in the river is kind of... I dunno, meh? I guess that's the word? Not to mention that the exit is actually like... really random. You could end up in Terminus or somewhere as bad as Dark Area really! The one in the train terminal is better!" Tetsu said.
Though the offer is a bit... "...I think I'll pass for the meantime," Tetsu said. "Maybe some other time, when we're more acquainted to one another."
"No offense on you guys, but at the same time I guess we ourselves are not sure to go with the plan or not, if you get what we meant... So to ask someone to do that favor to us but we're not... committed to doing that and ended up doing it halfheartedly will only hurt both you guys and the kids we're meant to teach that lesson to..."
"But if it's about befriending you guys, then of course we'll accept! We're up to befriend new peoples anyway!"

Gar seemed a bit bummed about their help being declined, but had returned to his usual upbeat and chipper self in no time once he actually heard the befriending part. "Of course! I would never pass up an offer of friendship!"
Ruby in contrast was muttering something about being afraid being shown up while Gar chattered away like a wind-up toy, though it went unnoticed for the most part.
"And of course while we may not be the best idea in terms of physically being involved, we'd-"
"You."
"-love to help throw out some ideas! That is of course if you want any, that is," Gar continued, trailing off a little as he scratched his cheek. "I don't mean to come off as pushy or anything after all.."

"Ideas? Well, I'm up to discuss for ideas, but I think---"
*Growl*
"Ah that's my stomach over there," Tetsu sheepishly muttered after he was cut by the sound of his own stomach. "How about you two join us for our lunch or something? I think it'll be nice to talk while eating... Gryz?"
"There are some vending machines nearby," the bear remarked "I think we can buy something from it and cook something?"
"That sounds good! Well, then, should we gather some branches for fireplace perhaps? We can talk more while doing that, heh heh~"
For the meantime, Gryz devolved and turned back into Bearmon. He walked away to purchase some food on a vending machine. It's not yet cooked obviously... as of why it's there, well that's how Digital World works he guessed. Meanwhile, Tetsu began his task of collecting branches.
"So, uh... Gar, was it? Got any nice adventures so far?"

"Oh lunch sounds like a great idea! Ruby likes to collect a bunch of berries and such from the forest so I'm sure we can make something super good!" Gar replied, excited as always.
"Well the plants and fungus will rot if I don't use them anyways so, I'm not opposed to the idea," Ruby replied before grabbing the previously mentioned goods, wrapped up secure in a cloth bag. He was interested in Gryz's ease in de-digivolving and, assuming, the reverse as well. Ruby could do the same, but they liked sticking to their achievements more often than not.
Gar had agreed on helping gathering branches and anything else needed to start a fire, happy to converse through it as well. Unsurprisingly Ruby followed wherever his partner went right besides him almost like a professionally trained guard dog.
"Yep, Gar, you got it right! I haven't really had any adventures yet, sadly. Well, except for one but it was kinda scary and not that fun," He admitted with a bit of nervous laughter, looking to the side for a moment.
