With the twins' promise to behave, Persephone would gently chuckle. "Atta boys," She'd praise them with a warm smile, tail swishing happily, and giggling as Sten hefted them up on his shoulders. "I'm sure you'll warm up to your new grandpa right quick, especially if you get free shoulder rides like that!" She'd joke humorously, adding to Sten "And a story does sound nice, Grandpa." with a small nod. A hundred years to refine something into an interesting tale did indeed sound, well, interesting...
Persephone would chuckle sheepishly at Jill's mention, though. "Ah, sorry - I suppose I'm still getting a little used to having a grandpa now," She'd admit as she stepped inside, wiping her claws clean of any snow on the doormat as she added "And I was waiting to see what you guys would do, honestly." Baldur wouldn't be far behind either as the duo entered - and the Hawkmon would glance around with equal curiosity. "A pretty roomy nest, I'd say." They'd comment with a chuckle and a smile; adding to Persephone with some humor "Though I suppose he'd need it, with all the kids your parents like having!" "They certainly enjoy having a big family." Persephone agreed with a smile - "I enjoy it, too, though; is always nice raising the littler tykes."
With the mention of making some cinnamon porridge though, Baldur would raise a wing to offer their aid as well. "I know my way around a kitchen like I know my feathers, I'd be more than happy to help, too!" Persephone would giggle, adding "That does sound nice - thank you Grandpa." as she went to sit down on one of the couches, so that Haku could give her a quick check-up.

"Cleaning robots, eh?" Sten asked, raising an eyebrow. "Huh, now that's something I haven't heard of for a while... ah, who am I kidding? I stepped out for a century, shouldn't be surprised that you've got tech like that again." He looked at Jill with something of a sense of pride though. That was his granddaughter there, being as thorough and competent as one of the finest aide-de-camps he could remember, solving problems far before they eventuated. Sten made a somewhat theatrical hum at Persephone saying she'd like to hear such stories. The WereGarurumon would of course spare her the worst of the DWR, but, there were lots of good things that he remembered. "The Light on the Hill" being the first - the tale of how a heroic unit he served in kept a warning light on a hill alight the whole night, fending off all attempts to extinguish it until reinforcements arrived at dawn. Matty and Jimmy meanwhile felt that... yeah, it was nice having a grandpa. He seemed to like them right away, he didn't growl at them when they disrespected him, he just... made a reasonable proposition that they get used to each other. They quickly found out where their own father's kindness had come from. Bezil meanwhile blushed when it was theorized that he'd have a lot of kids as well. Honestly, the Gumdramon hadn't really thought about that, but, he'd like to think that he'd be a loving father with a big family just like his parents, so, it was a nice thought for him to dwell upon. So then, cinnamon porridge it was. Sten led the volunteers into the kitchen, then began the lesson. "Alrighty then, this is a simple recipe, so hope you're paying attention. First up, do we have bananas here?""Sorry, dad. Bananas don't really do well this far north." Owen said, chuckling awkwardly. "Oh well. Recipe still works without them, but, trust me, kids, add a couple of bananas to all this and it'd be perfect. Still though, we're a hardy bunch aren't we? We can make do. Now... start off with a saucepan..." he put one on the stove, then called for the ingredients. "Do you have rolled oats?""Yeah, of course." Bezil answered, fetching some dried oats from the pantry. Sten used a measuring cup. "Always cook more than you need. I reckon at least 10 servings here, so, 4 cups of oats..." he poured them in. "Bezil, why don't you grind up the cinnamon with your tail hammer there?""Ah, sure, grandpa" Bezil said, then did so. "Now then, 2 litres of water... ah, cheers, Owen." Sten smiled at his son when he quickly acquired it. "Add half a teaspoon of cinnamon... don't want too much. Then a couple of pinches of salt... then we simmer that for a bit over 6 minutes. Jill, could you please stir it for that time?"For a moment, Owen remembered now. When it had just been him and Sten, his father would ask him to keep stirring the pot for the next step. Somehow, he felt rather proud that his own daughter was carrying out the task instead. While that was being done, Sten moved to another, smaller saucepan. "Now for the caramel." he said to them. "Cup of brown sugar... do we have that? Ah, nice. Mix that with four tablespoons of water, low heat now... who wants to volunteer? Alright, Jimmy, you keep stirring until all the sugar's dissolved."After 6 minutes had passed, Sten would ask Jill to stop stirring and let it simmer for another six minutes. Then when the sugar was dissolved, Sten increased the heat and got Matty to help stir it, since it would get thicker from here. When it was just thick enough, Sten said to add just under a cup of cream, then stir on low heat again. Before long, it was all complete. Owen had the bowls placed on the bench beforehand, then Sten served it all together. First the porridge, then covered it with the caramel, cream and a dusting of cinnamon. The familiar odor filled Owen with joy. He hadn't had this meal for over 100 years, and he was eager to taste it again. Following that, Sten brought enough bowls of porridge into the living room and served them out to his son, grandchildren and friends, each with a spoon. "Hope you all enjoy it~" he said, in a voice as warm as the porridge.

"It's not the stocking day, I'm afraid," Jill commented. "If you would like Banana it would be around tuesday and friday, where the stock will be delivered from the southern tropics. However usually when there are storms like this one, there might be delays in delivery."
"Oh, why, Banana? I do have some, let me fetch..." Hikaru rummaged his kilt, and pulled out some. Jill meanwhile just looked at him funny. "...What? You don't know when you'll need some smoothie! I have some portable blender too for your information!"
"I swear even though you're my father your action still very mind boggling to me," she muttered.
JIll stirred the batter, hoping for the right taste. It's honestly a new experience for her, and cooking with family like this honestly is very relaxing. Perhaps she should do this a lot more?
Either way food is ready! It was honestly as sweet as it was promised. It was... as sweet as the current family reunion in this house. There was banter, there was laughter, and honestly, it was all because a blizzard and a chance meeting but... finally the family is all here again, and that's what the most important.

As everyone worked on the porridge - everyone pitching in aid in one way or another - Baldur would be amongst those helping - flying just above everyone. Be it grabbing spices or dishes from the higher shelves, helping mix things, or even just busing around the dirty dishes that'd result from the cooking to the sink for washing - the Hawkmon was visibly a busy bee, but they seemed to find a certain joy in the act of cooking. "It's already smelling ab-so-lutely wonderful!" They'd chirp happily as the porridge would begin coming together - "I'm quite excited to give it a taste, once it's all done!"
Persephone, meanwhile, would be sitting on the couch with Haku - letting him warm her up - and give her a brief check-up, if he so wished - whilst she sipped on some medicinal tea that she had packed up in her waterflask before she had left the Sanctum. She, too, would quickly come to smell the porridge as it was made - her nose twitching as she sniffed the air. "Mmmm~" She hummed in a relaxed, soothed fashion - smiling over in Haku's direction. "I can't wait for Grandpa's cooking - it sounds like everyone's having a good time in the kitchen, too." She'd muse, one of her ears pricked and twitching as she listened to the sounds of the hustle and bustle in the kitchen.
As she listened to the background noise from the kitchen, though... She'd peer over to her older brother, asking "How do you feel about having a grandfather now, Haku?" Smiling, she'd chuckle - tail slowly and contentedly swishing - and mention "Personally, I'm probably still getting used to it - but I feel like I'm warming up to it pretty quickly, myself. It's nice to see the family grow, to have an older figure to look to for advice and stories about the olden days."
Before long though, Sten would come out to the living room with bowls of porridge and some spoons - and both Persephone and Baldur would find themselves being served some porridge, as well. Baldur was quite eager to dig right in - much to the chagrin of his poor tongue, given that they didn't even give the porridge a chance to cool! "GAH! Hot hot hot!" - whereas Persephone was more patient; simply enjoying the warmth of the bowl against her fur, enjoying the smell, as she waited for it to cool off just a hair before she started eating. "Thank you, Grandpa." She'd smile up to Sten - adding "It smells wonderful," "And tastes wonderful, too!" Baldur would chime in, gesturing with a wing. "Worth sacrificing the tip of my tongue for, I'd say!" This would draw brief laughter out of Persephone and Baldur both - Persephone quipping "You're a dork," in Baldur's direction. "The best of dorks!" Baldur would retort with humor, puffing their chest.

Sten blinked at Hikaru as he seemed to be able to procure a banana from his kilt. Owen stared at his husband for a moment in disbelief as he was actually able to supply a banana fruit. Sten meanwhile gladly accepted it. "Thanks, son-in-law, this'll make this recipe complete." the WereGarurumon said, and would add chopped banana slices to the porridge when they were ready to be served. Soon after, the porridge was ready to be served. And before long, it seemed most were accepting the recipe. Owen, Bezil, Matty and Jimmy all found it almost heavenly. The sweetness of the caramel and banana; the gentle spice of the cinnamon; the creamy texture of the dairy product; the energy of the oats, this was probably the best porridge that all of them had ever tasted. Sten beamed in response to this, the sight of his whole known family appreciating his cooking, after all this time. Everyone had seemed so happy, yet... why was he feeling so close to tears? The old WereGarurumon had been witness to so much destruction and death in his time. In the dying days of the DWR, he first had received news of his son's death, followed soon after by news of the collapse of the capital. From there he fled to the isolation of the Northern Prominence and had stayed there, for over 100 years. And now... all at once... he had a family again. And he loved it. Yet... knowing he had missed out on so much, it hurt him. To the point that he couldn't hold it in any further. "Grandpa, are you okay?" Bezil asked, gently. Sten tried to hide the tears rolling from his eyes, but they soon flowed so hard that he couldn't hide them anymore. "Aw... Grandpa..." Bezil said, then sat down next to him, leaning against him in a cuddle. Sten appreciated it, then Matty and Jimmy followed suit, both of them jumping onto his shoulders to show their affection. Eventually, Owen too acknowledged what he was feeling, then sat on the opposite side of Bezil. "Dad..." he said softly. "I'm... so sorry that I left you behind back then, in the end. But... I'm glad you're back in my life again, and my family's.""I'm glad too." Sten said, so proud to be surrounded by his family. His grandchildren were kind and brave, just as he had raised his son. He had been worried that in getting to know them he'd be seen as little more than an old ghost in their lives, but, he felt accepted again. This was... truly a tremendous gift. Sten smiled at Haku in particular, for helping to allow this moment to happen. "Well... don't wanna let your porridge get cold, eh?" he prompted, hoping they'd eat the rest of it up.

"Mmmm, nothing is wrong with your health at the moment, Perry, but hanging out too long out there might make you a bit cold. Grandpa's touch was very warm huh? Anyway, straighten your back a bit." Haku would take out a piece of soft looking round crystal. He gently rubs it on his sister's back. It releases heat, enough to warms Perry right up. It's something of a technique he picked. While indeed crystal massage in real world seem to not be like what it claimed, Digital World version is more developed. It's a technique taught by someone in Terminus, and is apparently good to correct data flow as one heals the target, increasing the effectiveness.
How does he feel about their grandpa? "I'm excited honestly," Haku answered, his tail reflexively wagged in happiness, remembering what happened before. "It's great to see Daddo happy again with his father you know? Well, there are a lot of thing happening, but I feel it's nice to have extended family. Pops doesn't have any extended family for that matter... uh, wait, I think he got adoptive brother. Kind of a dork though."
"Oh you're talking about Shiro? That guy has yet appeared somehow, I might go look for him later," Hikaru told the two.
"What's your relationship by the way?"
"So Yuuki got a younger brother, a year younger... and Shiro is his partner. So we pretty much bonded because we're in the same house and joked around that we're brothers you see."
Sten seem to be overwhelmed by emotions. Haku and Jill also moved in closer to hug the old Were Garurumon while Hikaru gently scoots Perry's chair closer to Sten to make it easier for her to hug him if so she want to.
Finishing the dish was obviously in order. Once it's all over, Haku looked at Hikaru.
"Can we stay for the night?"
"Heh, who am I to tell you no on that? I don't mind that at all, but what about your grandpa? You should ask him."
"Can we stay for the night here, grandpa?" Haku asked at his grandfather, hoping that he's allowed to. Just for this time, he turned on his pleading charm and cuteness to the max, which made Jill and Hikaru chuckles. "I think I'll second Haku, grandpa," Jill smiled and pat the Were Garurumon's hand. "May we? We just want to know you better."

"It was, though the contact in general was very soothing to me, if I'll be honest." Persephone would chuckle to Haku, sitting up straight as he took out the crystal; humming gently as the warmth of the crystal would spread thru her. "His scent also reminded me of Papa, which was pretty calming..." She'd add with a brief, relaxed sigh; closing her eyes as she focused on the feeling of the warmth, and how it helped ward off the chill that had set into her muscles, and helped her muscles relax. "It's to be expected, given that they're related, but... It was still soothing, either way - I think I almost drifted off for a second, between the touch and the scent of family." She smiled sheepishly to Haku with that, her tail briefly swishing as she recalled the feelings she had at that moment - of wanting to commit Sten's scent to memory, of the gentle touch... It was all nice, honestly!
It seemed that Haku was feeling similarly positive about all of this, though; unable to help a soft chuckle as she noted the way that his own tail was now wagging. "I'm glad to hear you're feeling excited about this, too." Persephone mused with a smile - adding "I think everyone's feeling pretty abuzz - aside from perhaps the twins, but... I'm sure they'll warm up to him, with time. I'm sure they're just not used to having a grandpa, yet." And then, there was the talk of Shiro - Persephone listened briefly, before smiling, mentioning "I'd love to meet him sometime, myself, if he was as close to you as he sounds, Dad."
Then, there came Grandpa Sten, and the porridge. Once it had a chance to cool, Persephone and Baldur were both more than happy to dig in; Persephone's tail swishing happily all the whilst. "I'll have to ask him for the recipe sometime, maybe experiment a little with it..." The Hawkmon would muse out loud - drawing a chuckle from Persephone. She would make to respond, her mouth briefly opening - though would remain silent, as she heard Bezil's voice - asking if Sten was okay. This would quickly draw the duo's attention, the two looking to the older WereGarurumon as he seemed... To be crying..?
Hikaru scooting her chair closer would briefly startle Persephone, her blinking and glancing in her father's direction, but... She'd briefly nuzzle Hikaru, murmuring "Thank you," to him before she'd set the porridge aside to hug Sten as well, her tail slowly and lazily swishing. "... It's okay, Grandpa. We're all here for you" She'd murmur to the WereGarurumon, gently nuzzling against his chest. Baldur wouldn't participate in the hugfest - but they'd still briefly chuckle warmheartedly, reaching over to give Sten a brief pat on the shoulder. "Come now, let's turn that frown upside down, yeah?" They'd chirp with a grin, adding "You've got one big happy family to spend your days with, now - and all the time in the world to get to know them! And I'd love to get to know you some, too!"
"... And maybe that recipe, too - heavens it's good!" "Pftehehehe...! Best of dorks, indeed."
Sten's prompting wouldn't go unheeded though, Persephone and Baldur both chuckling as they returned to eating - Persephone would leave her chair near Sten, though; enjoying the proximity to him. Once they were finished though, Haku and Jill would both seem interested in staying the night with Sten. Persephone smiled warmly at this - adding "If you don't mind Grandpa, I'd like to stay the night, too, please." with a polite and warm tone. "I'm sure Baldur would like to stay the night too, if I am - to be able to help me out if my condition flares up, and whatnot. I hope that wouldn't be a problem?" She'd add - Baldur nodding their confirmation. Given Baldur's relationship with her, as her caregiver and best friend, it was likely that they'd appreciate being able to stay nearby to be able to help her out - especially if she had an episode flare up, away from the Sanctum like this.

Sten listened to who else this lovely little family had relations with. So, it seemed Hikaru lacked siblings, other than a dorky adopted brother named Shiro. At that, he turned to Owen. "What about you, son? Do you have any adopted siblings?""Yeah, I do." Owen answered right away. "Cion. She's a digimon that grew up with me in the Village of Beginnings, and it seems we shared some history before our current incarnations... for example, this bandana I wear..." he indicated it on his head. "That used to be hers. And she wears a green scarf that used to be mine. We haven't really been around each other much lately, always conflicting schedules, but, I think you'd like her as an adoptive daughter.""Heh, if that's what you think, I'm sure it'll be so!" Sten said, cheerfully. After his little breakdown, he soon recovered, and not long after, many of them were asking to stay with him tonight. "But of course! You're most welcome." Sten said, he wouldn't turn anyone here away. He wiped his tears away and gave a competitive grin. "Of course, no member of my family's going to miss out on learning how to make my porridge, that's for sure!" he declared. Following that, once everyone had finished their supper, Sten would collect their bowls and take them to the sink to be rinsed. He'd wash them properly tomorrow, for now he had to be accommodating to his guests. After all, if this house was his, then he would not let his guests feel unwelcome. Taking up some of his old routine, he inspected the rooms available. It seemed there would be plenty of room for all of them, even if some of them would have to share some rooms. "Well then. Let's all get ready for bed then." he said. "Those that want to stay, please stay, I'm sure we can procure enough blankets and pillows for everyone."Following that, Sten settled into his role as a caring grandfather. His son and son-in-law were secure in their relations, and his grandchildren were all wonderful individuals and he looked forward to meeting with them all properly. But for now, it had been a long day, and it would be best if everyone settled in to rest. He certainly looked forward to tomorrow though! [Thread exit]
