To say Dio was blinded in his fury would be...a huge understatement. Even if Valt had not been ready anyone could have reacted in time to such a telegraphed attack, and in turn anyone could have seen such a counter coming. Anyone but Dio, of course.
"H-how..." Was all the demon lord could mutter in a surprised gasp as he felt his charge being stopped in his tracks by a hand gripping tightly against his neck, stopping his momentum dead in its tracks like a concrete wall in the way of a speeding bike. He didn't get enough time to try to break free from Valt's hold before he felt something pressed against his stomach, eyes suddenly widening in almost fearful realisation. He knew what was coming all too well. K was particularly fond of this during their trainings together.
Dio was sent flying back as the energy blast hit him head on, crashing against a still surprised Gio and sending both twins crashing ungraciously to the ground with grunts of pain. And as if to throw salt in the wound, Valt did not hold back with his verbal beatdown either. As the two megas got back on their feet and dusted themselves off, Gio couldn't help but glare daggers not at Valt, but at Dio.
"...he's got a point, you know." He said, biting snark in his tone.
"Shut. Up." Dio however, was having none of it, glaring annoyingly at his brother, then furiously at the Imperialdramon. "Fine, old mon, if that's how you want to do this, your hubris will be your downfall. Gio! Cover me this time!"
As such he lunged once again, the chains wrapped around his arms becoming loose and lashing in the direction of the dragon warrior. As for Gio? He would stay back, eyes narrowing on his target as he focused, his claws doing a upwards swiping motion, after which Valt would certainly notice a giant claw like shape made out of pure blue energy rising from below him, intent on crushing him in its grip.
"I wouldn't say unreasonable but...well, I've seen rookies rip a door off its hinges without trying, so sorry if I don't like my chances." Carlos said to Ryouta, too busy doing squats to pay attention to the insanity happening on the arena. Really, deep down he didn't like his chances, being maimed and hurt by many a digimon before had humbled him greatly.
But something in the KIZNA member's words gave him a semblance of hope, however, if he was able to rise to the challenge and succeed why couldn't Carlos?
"Ki arts, light screen and light baton..." He repeated aloud, more to help himself remember than anything else, before looking back at the teen, "...are those mandatory or do I still have a chance without relying on them?"
After a rather humillliating opening turn, Gio tries to restrain Valt with Dark Claw, while Dio retaliates with Chains of Torment.
[Passive] Mark of Sloth: This ability allows this digimon to set a target ablaze for two posts every time they deal damage with an ability. Instead of damaging the enemy however, the flames sap the energy from the digimon, slowing down their movements significantly. Can only proc every three posts after the mark has expired, and it may only affect one target at a time.
Chains of Torment: Wielding one of the many chains coiled around his body, Belphemon whips the flaming chain in a sweeping motion in front of him, causing medium damage up to three targets in front of him. Additionally, the afflicted targets will be rooted in place by spectral chains for one post. Four posts cooldown.
Dark Claw – Subdue: Summons from the beneath the enemy a giant claw of pure energy that attempts to grab on and restrain it’s target, keeping them in place and dealing minor damage for a turn, as well as making the afflicted target take more damage from any fire related attacks while they’re restrained. 4 turn cooldown.
Cooldowns:
Dio: Chains of Torment: (0/4)
Gio: Dark Claw - Subdue: (0/4)

"Even an Adult can react to such telegraphed move," Valt mercilessly countered at Dio's disbelief. "If that's what you called original, then originality has been dead for a thousand years!"
Old mon huh? Valt only can smirk behind that mask of his. The Imperialdramon readied his stance once more. So they're going to attack together this time? Dio attacked, and Valt already know that he's the type that gonna go forward. His attention is instead on Gio. No matter how his brother verbally abused the Black Guilmon now Hadesmon, Valt believed that he have more logic than his rampaging brother. True enough, he saw a movement. Below?
Ah, attacked from two sides... Classic. However, he would have harder time to dodge had they doesn't attack TOGETHER. Valt suddenly roared loudly... then vanished. Both attack missed its intended target. But where does he go?
At this point Valt would reappear in front of Dio, knee ready to strike on his face. Not only that it's fast, it's also powerful if it hits. Not done there, he would then presses Dio down with his feet if he got struck by that attack. "I'll return that word at you, sonny." he would say if those attacks are successful. Blue aura is surrounding him at the moment. He activated a buff it seems. But what else would he do now?
He looked at Gio next. The next second, a terrifying shockwave spread through the arena, pushing everyone back. Dio who, if the attack from prior actually hit, was on the ground, would most likely get pushed stronger to the floor. Valt has switched his form to Imperialdramon Dragon Mode, grinning wide.
Yes, the fun has began.
"Well that's not unreasonable..." Ryouta glanced now and then at the arena.... Are those two seriously OK? He's worried... Valt is being a bit cruel at the moment. "But you know you can totally use that force to fight against them."
It's seem that Ryouta is someone who loves to live dangerously. "You still have a chance, but those thing pretty much increases your chance by huge margin. Light baton is to increase your strike length without actually damaging you, light screen is to protect you when the Digimon attacks... projectiles are where you should use it. Ki arts is just to fake out, make them think you can do something special... like Ha**uken or Ka**hame** or Shishi***kou or something. It doesn't deal damage and just mostly light show."
VALT (Imperialdramon FM -> Imperialdramon DM) STR + SPD +60% (2 turns remaining)
Action: Dragon Warcry EX (Increase STR + SPD by 60% for 3 turns, 25% DEF penalty in cooldown. 3 turns cooldown) Forma Change (Switches form to IPDM, strong shockwaves to all target, pushes them back)
Cooldown: IPFM: Positron Laser (Ready in 1 more turn) Forma Change (3 turns cooldown)
IPDM Forma Change (3 turns cooldown)

As expected, the twins' combined attack was only marginally more succesful, getting Valt to actually have to put some actual effort in his dodge...perhaps too much, as he seemingly banished into thin air! The belphemon stood in the air, surprised but still on guard, figuring the Imperialdramon had something up his proverbial sleeve. As such once he eventually reappeared in front of him, ready to throw that knee at his face, the demonic ram was a bit more prepared, rising up his arms in a blocking motion to stop the incoming attack.
However the knee came not only with blinding speed, but with comparable strenght to boot, strong enough to still make the demon lord reel back and lose his balance for a moment, which Valt immediatelly capitalized on by making him fall and keeping him pressed against the ground. Clearly, now that such tactics as standing on top of your downed foe were being used, it was pretty much obvious Valt was...enjoying himself a bit. Gio could see it, and he understood why: he wanted, no, needed to teach Dio a lesson...unfortunately that would also mean teaching both of them.
As the rumble of his transformation could be felt on the entire arena (especially for the poor Belphemon being pressed further and painfully into the ground), the Hadesmon felt a strong force pushing against him and sending him back, but did not relent on his assault. Slashing at the air once again, a different energy claw would appear next to the transformed Valt, aiming to slash across his face if given the chance...but that was after he waited for Dio to make his move. What was said move? Well, if Valt paid attention he would have probably noticed how the Belphemon was starting to emit a rather strong glow, as well as large amounts of heat.
"Arrogant bastard-"
At the peak of the Imperialdramon's form switch, Dio would release all the accumulated energy within his body in a catastrophic explosion of fire and brimstone, a loud roar of pure outrage making the place rumble as he did.
....
"Geez, they're holding nothing back aren't they?" The man shook his head as he glanced for a moment at the fight, wondering if his partners even had a fair chance against someone with a lot more experience like Valt. At any rate, Dio could use the humbling, so he didn't worry too much, he knew their teacher wasn't going to outright kill them...hopefully.
"Right, using their force against them to throw them off balance?...like Tae-kwon-do or Judo." He pondered, listing off the few martial arts he knew from those old Bruce Lee imitators movies.
Finally he'd stretch his arms upward, letting out a somewhat tired sigh, before saying, "Alright, I think that's enough warmup...what, "teach"?"
Dio tries to block Valt's attack but is still knocked down and takes full damage from Forma change, before retaliating with Hellgate, while Gio uses Dark Claw - Rend
Hellgate: Belphemon gathers energy from his surrounding, before releasing it all in a powerful explosion of flames that devastate his surroundings (50 feet). If empowered by Dark Onslaught it will deal even more damage and cover a 150 feet area. Both versions of this attack are much more unstable than the rest however, and as such will also deal damage to any allies caught in the blast. Three posts cooldown.
Dark Claw – Rend: Summons a giant energy claw that slashes in a downward motion upon the enemy, dealing heavy damage if it connects. Can be summoned anywhere within a range of 50 feet of Gio, but it must be done within his range of vision. 3 turn cooldown
Cooldowns
Dio: Chains of Torment (1/4) Hellgate: (0/3)
Gio: Dark Claw - S (1/4) Dark Claw - R (0/3)

Dio's explosion was something that's better for Valt. Yes that's more like it. Even though he was fast enough to take off, it doesn't mean he got away unscathed. The upward explosion was faster than Valt's ascent speed. Not helping that the hot air messed up with his flight, making him a bit disoriented, enough for Gio's attack to hit him and send him crashing down.
"Kuhu... Kukuku...."
Some blood are drawn, and from Gio's attack, claw marked wound appeared on the side of Valt's head. Yet, for some reason, the Imperialdramon's grin just grew wider." KUAHHAHAHAHA, YEAH, THERE YOU HAVE IT, THERE YOU HAVE IT! GOOD, GOOD!! KEEP THAT TEAMWORK IF YOU WANT TO SURVIVE THIS TRAINING!"
Valt immediately moved in to attack, this time by blasting at Gio with Positron Laser while inching closer to the Belphemon. Dio is probably already up by now, but that's where he'll use a different move. After once again shortening the distance with his still active buff, Valt would summon lightning from the ceilling, blasting on area 15 meters around him. Due to his size, the range is bigger than that, but either way...
He added it with a bit of a twist. The lightning that for a moment was blue, immediately hueshifted to purple, something about it looked far more furious than usual. ...Speaking of which, he's slowing down a bit. Is this the effect of that ability? Hmn, how interesting.
"Looks like those two managed to score a hit," Ryouta commented as he heard the laugh. "Anyway, I meant more to Aikido than Taekwondo, but I guess similar enough. Digimons however are more combat ready than humans. Unless you're a black belt I don't really suggest you to fight directly against Digimon to subdue them. It's best to just hit and run. There are a lot of techniques you can do. But for now, it's best to train your core I guess. Time to push up, sit ups, and do some chin ups. After a week we'll move to real martial arts, sounds good?"
Combat Log: Valt is hit by Dio and GIo's attack. Valt uses Positron Laser at Gio, and Imperial Thunder on Dio. Positron Laser: If shield is protecting target, this attack becomes 100% more damaging. Unblockable by shield, but still can be nulled by reflect. This attack can be charged for several turn to trigger different form of attacking. Two turns cooldown. No Charge: Simple laser attack, moderate damage 1 Turns Charge: Piercing laser attack, enemies on straight line, moderate damage 2 Turns Charge: Exploding laser attack, 50% splash damage at anything in 5 meter radius from impact point, major damage 3 Turns Charge: Massive AoE, 25 meter radius. Massive damage.
Imperial Thunder: Stunning (movement stun type) attack on all target on 15m radius area. Ignore all form of field effect. Stunning part does not work for enemy of higher level. 4 turns cooldown.
Imperial Thunder is Boosted by Ultima Break! Ultima Break (RAM UPGRADE GIGA): Toggleable, imbue a move with "Shield Breaker" property which includes breaking barrier, reflect and cancelling moves for that one move. three turns cooldown between activation
Valt's buff is now on its second turn. one turn left before cooldown. Decided to not auto trigger Penalty
Cooldown: Positron Laser (IPFM) is ready next turn Forma Change ready in third turn after this one.

Much to the duo's surprise and delight, their combined efforts had finally earned them some results, actually landing a couple of hits upon Valt and even doing some noticeable damage. It was a short lived victory however, as their harsh teacher was nowhere near satisfied, and judging by his loud laugh seemed to be enjoying himself even more. Dio couldn't help but bite his lip, concerned as to what would be his next move. It didn't take long for them to find out, as after shooting straight at Gio with his massive cannon Valt turned his sights to the Dark Lord, approaching him with a thunderous boom of lightning.
Gio, seeing the massive attack aimed in his direction didn't even attempt to dodge it, instead slashing the area in front of him with his hands charged with volatile energy, a small net like barrier forming in front of him that would hopefully stop the laser. Imagine his surprise as the beam was not stopped in the slightest by his barrier, the net barely slowing it down before it crashed harshly against Gio's chest, sending the Hadesmon flying backwars and smashing him straight into the walls of the arena.
"Oww..." Was all the dizzy centaur could mutter as it struggled to leave out of the crater in the wall his body had created.
Dio meanwhile did not let this show of strenght discourage him, roaring wildly as he charged straight ahead to meet the dragon head on, just as Valt's lightning came crashing down on top of him. The Belphemon grit his teeth as the electricity coursed painfully through him, but did not relent, one glowing claw swiping wildly at the Imperialdramon, his claws seemingly tearing through reality itself as a myriad of ethereal slashes aimed for his teacher.
"Took 'em long enough, think they have a chance?" Carlos commented, not really looking at the battle anymore as he was too busy on his own training. Besides, it was hard to be invested knowing his partners would be safe at the end of it all, and Ryouta's words eventually earned him a rather surprised glance from Carlos. A full week? Not that he minded but man was this kid being really generous with his time.
"Sounds good, "sensei". Just hope you guys don't get bored of us after so much time together." He said with a grin, as he carefully got down to the floor. He wasn't particularly fond of push ups or sit ups. Far from it in fact, as they had almost gotten him to fail P.E. class back in high school for not doing them "properly". It wasn't his fault they were so damn hard to do! But he wasn't about to let himself look bad in front of the teen (he had Dio for that anyways) so after letting out a long breath, or perhaps a resigned sigh, he'd begin with the first set of push ups.
"One, two, three...how many of these should I do again?"
While Gio tries (and fails) to block Valt's with Dark Claw-Barrier, Dio pushes takes the full brunt of the attack but retaliates with Dimension Cut.
Dimension Cut: In a brutal display of power Belphemon slashes forward with his claws, after which a barrage of ethereal slashes cut the recently slashed area, dealing high damage. One post cooldown.
[RAM Upgrade Giga] Axon Charge: Due to Gio’s rather odd upbringing and traces of his old demon lord data, his body and very core react to physical trauma in an different way. On top of an increased tolerance to pain, every time Gio receives damage from a named move he stores a part of the attack’s energy within him, giving him a charge. He can store up to five of these charges. Every charge gives him a 5% increase in damage to all of his named moves, though he loses a charge for every two turns without receiving damage. Furthermore he can spend all five charges to create a medium ranged explosion around him causing heavy damage to up to two targets, but can’t gain charges for the next two turns.
Charges: 1/5, 5% damage increase
Dark Claw – Barrier: Slashes the air in front of him with great velocity using both claws, which leave an energy trail behind and form a net like barrier. This barrier can block a Mega level move. 3 posts cooldown.

"AHAHAHAHA, COME NOW, IS THAT THE BEST YOU CAN DO!?" Valt's maniac laughter resounded. It's obviously that he's having fun. "Hora, horaaaa!! If you're lagging I'll blast you, you know!" The attacks shown by Dio is good and all, but if he's going to attack like that of course Valt gonna dodge! It's a bit too obvious! It does help that he's snared though, so it's not like he can move from his spot, even if the ethereal claw marks are assaulting him and seem can be long ranged type of attack too. Interesting either way, but not the kind that he should use in time like this when he's snared.
"You shall understand FEAR"
Valt's glare somehow would spreads toward the area 25 meters around him. If one does not have the ability to resist it, they might start feeling that fear that made them unable to focus on charging their attack. Their speed and attack would sharply decline by 35%. Not done there, however... he would focus on his digicore. Suddenly, Imperialdramon looked like it froze midair, before all its shell peeled off, revealing a smaller draconic humanoid inside, but one that's beefier than Valt's Imperialdramon Fighter Mode form. He grinned wide.
"How about trying my new form for a change?"
And it's at this time that his buff ended, and the debuff kicked in. Holy shit, that was tiring. But even so, this is the first time he uses this form... Ulforce Vdramon X Antibody. Let's see how those two can deal with this. Valt extended his sabers.
"Hard to say," Ryouta answered. "They might do, but Dio must calm himself down first. He's getting a bit too desperate. I feel like if Valt wasn't such a combat maniac when he start getting good hits and instead attempt to goad him more, he'd be in trouble. Gio meanwhile should be more assertive, less of biting snark and just let his annoyance show in frank way. Maybe that would make Dio pay attention better."
It's funny how he thought he'll get bored that easily. "As long as you're not annoying, overly clingy, or try to drag me in every single of your problem with no shame at it, I'll be fine and I'll teach you everything I know. Anyway, try to aim as much as you can. If your arms wobbled too much, stop, then change to sit up, then after that try to jog for a while. Today's target is just to see how fit you are pretty much. Usually someone fit can do about 20-25 in single rep?"

Seeing the bombastic and loud way Valt was adressing them was nothing if surprising for Dio. No matter how much they fought their opponent's loud ways kept the demon lord in both awe and on the edge. And further infuriated him every time he avoided any of his attacks. Even with his fire weighing him down Valt showed terrifying speed, and once he changed into yet a different form, a far more impressive yet menacing looking one.
Key word menacing...as suddenly both him and his brother could feel a cold, almost sharp feeling in the back of their neck, their breathing slowly becoming more and more frantic. Dio seemed to take the worst of it, his vision blurring and the sounds around him warping and distorting as if the world around him was melting.
"Tch, you talk too much!" He snarled defiantly, though it was clear by the subtle shaking in his body that he was...tense. Incredibly so. Almost fearful. But he wasn't going to let that stop him. "Change all you want, I'll cut you down all the same!"
As the word spat out of his mouth like poison, a faint red glow seemed to be coming from his mouth. Said glow became almost blindingly bright as the demon opened his mouth yet again, a large beam of red energy shooting out from it and aimed directly at Valt.
Gio by now had managed to get himself out of the crater on the wall, and was also on the offensive, even if the awful feeling coursing through his body made every move feel sluggish and slower. With a roar his metallic wings parted, the yellow ish feathers shooting upwards with a glint of light, aiming to rain down upon Valt like a rain of electricity.
Dio? Calming down? "Good luck with that" Carlos thought to himself, but didn't say much other than sighing a bit. Clearly his partner was probably on the losing side this time, but there wasn't much to be done about it, other than hope he would learn from his mistake.
"That sounds oddly specific...but I'll promise I won't be clingy or drag you anywhere. The annoying part is up for debate though." He chuckled as his pushups came to a stop, the man looking positively winded. But at least he had managed to get to up to 24 pushups in a single set. Not bad for someone whose only excersises included the ocassional jogging, hiking and running from an angry digimon. "H-how did I do?" He asked, taking a moment to catch his breath before going for the sit ups as Ryouta instructed.
The twins are affected by Valt's Fear, but still retaliate with Red Volt and Infernal Moonson, albeit more slowly and not as strongly as they would like
Infernal Monsoon: The bladed quills from his wings become electrified with plasmic energy and shoot up to a distance of 100 feet, raining down upon the enemy and causing medium damage to up to two targets. 4 turn cooldown.
Red Volt: An upgraded version of NeoDevimon's Red Ray. Gathering power from within and his surroundings Belphemon fires a massive red beam of destructive energy from his mouth, causing heavy damage and piercing through shields and armor. Three posts cooldown.
Cooldowns
Dio: Chains of Torment (3/4) Hellgate: (2/3) Dimension Cut: (1/1) Red Volt: (0/3)
Gio: Dark Claw - S (3/4) Dark Claw - R (2/3) Dark Claw – B (1/3) Infernal Moonsoon - (0/4)

"You speak too little meanwhile. Cat got your tongue?" Valt taunted. His grin showed just how confident he is at the moment. Speaking of which the moment the Red Volt came, Valt clasped his hands together, then spread it. A thin, blue mirror-like surface appeared. On sight, it might be like a barrier... and it might sounds like it's going to be a repeat of the two turns before, but this time it's on Valt's expense.
The red lightning and the arrows struck the blue dragon, causing a noticeable explosion and veil of smoke. One might have thought that they felled the dragon, considering there was no response for good two seconds...
...Until suddenly, he shot forward, faster than bullets, hand outstretched. Valt attempted a strike Dio's solar plexus while aiming toward Gio. If it hits, a blast of laser would shot out from Valt's palm. But not just that, the power of the previous attack hitting him actually added to the power of the current attack, boosting it significantly, especially considering that Valt's debuff kicked in. However there's a disturbance... his actual speed and strength isn't dropping at all from previous turn! Despite his defense going down, it doesn't look as if his strength and speed is going down from the 60% increase either!
That was nasty... Ryouta understood what happened there. When his defense goes down Valt decided to change his form to Ulforce Vdramon X. Doing so, he could use Counterforce, which uses the opponent's strength against them. Unlike reflect, it actually adds the power of the attack to Valt's existing power. Unlike reflect where it still risk being damaged by once per turn and piercing ability, this ability would just return the power exactly. Its weakness though requires Valt to take the attack's damage. Still, not limited to just there, he actually uses Dragon Warcry again... which further boost the speed and strength.
Oddly specific huh... "...Well there was cases of that. I tend to delve to annoying situation myself and if I desire to. If people drags me down to their problem with full intent on milking my help and just using me, then I'll give them piece of my mind that's all." Ryouta answered. "However if I offered or I agree to helping them, that's another matter altogether..."
24... is quite a good number. "Sounds about right. Normally someone who completely new only can do 10-15 on their first time. So I guess you should be proud~"

As the attacks landed violently and Valt was swallowed by a thick curtain of smoke, a tense silence fell upon the battlegrounds, and both twins stood in place, almost as silent if you ignored their heavy breathing as they tried to regain their composure. Had they...won? Hardly, Valt would surely not go down that easily, and Dio knew it all too well. Perhaps in an attempt to lure him out, or more than likely just to be petty however he would snort loudly, before bellowing,
"Is that your best, old mon?!" He soon received his answer of course, as the blue dragon shoot forward, striking the demon straight in chest with unfathomable power, Dio feeling pain coursing through his being akin to a mountain crushing down on him, so it was no surprise to see the equal parts powerful and fast attack would send even the massive demon flying back at top speed...right at Gio.
The mechanical centaur like being however was quick to react, though perhaps not in the best way for his brother: with a quick wave of his claws a large blur of energy shot out from him, expanding around the Hadesmon like a bubble. The large shield protected the entire area around the demonic digimon like an invisible wall. It worked a little too well perhaps, as it stopped the launched Dio's trajectory in his tracks as he collided back first against the translucent wall, a pained grunt as his body slumped forward and collapsed into the floor.
"Dumbass..." The demon lord wheezed as he struggled to regain his footing with little success. At this point, he wasn't sure what hurt more, his body or his pride.
"S-sorry! I tried to shield you but you were just out of range!" For what was worth, Gio had been quick to realize his mistake, and after dispelling his shield had now repositioned himself in front of his fallen brother, ready to shield him from whatever thing Valt might try next.
Carlos could only bite his lip and shake his head. That was quite a sad sight, really, and just more evidence his partners really needed more time to iron out their fighting style if they wanted to have a shot at surviving the outside forces threatening the Digital World.
"Heh, thanks, I have been doing some excersizing for a while now after all, kinda forced to considering all the stuff that's been going on really." He'd reply with a smile at Ryouta, taking some pride in his compliment, however small. Really, the whole training had not even been his idea on the first place, rather a bit of "medical advice" given to him by a certain cat doctor to avoid danger to the best of his skill. Only now was he really taking that advice fully to heart, however.
"So what next, teach?"
Dio takes full damage from Valt's buffed attack and further more some more damage because of Gio's Plasma Bubble.
Plasma bubble: Generates a large (50 feet) barrier of solidified around him and any allies within his range. Said barrier can stop up to three Mega level attacks or a single Super Mega attack. Lasts up to two turns, and has a 4 turn cooldown.

Valt obviously wasn't in the best condition either. That attack just now stung so hard... so much that he's looking battered, although no way close to what Dio felt at the moment. Thing is though? Valt just need to reach deep inside himself... there.
Suddenly, the dragon's wounds slowly healing. Along with it, blue light floating from his body, Looks like he got healing abilities on top of all that dastardly moves... Honestly, he's not so much battered to use that sort of ability, but the idea is to show the twins that he can still do this all night long. It's less of a bluff and more to actual threat. By showing this he hope that the twins understood that he will keep fighting them if they have no idea when to give up.
By doing this, he's actually testing Dio's willingness to tone his pride down, to know when to bow out... and for Gio's willingness to either rein his brother in or to follow him.
There are so many choices right now... but for the meantime? He'll just do that... standing there menacingly. He's good at that after all.
"Right, so after push up, it's obviously sit ups," Ryouta answered. "After that, we'll probably do a bit of a jogging to build stamina, and afterward because your arms has slightly rested, chin ups. Pretty simple really. All of those pretty much strengthen your core, which are important for self defenses. If you want to be taught on martial arts, you should probably remember those...
...Speaking of which, do you think that they'll notice what Valt wanted to see from them?" Ryouta asked.
Valt executed Ulforce activated (Medium regen + protection from debuff for 3 turns)

The fight had reached a momentary standstill, both sides making it abundantly clear this was starting to wear them down...mostly so on the twins' side, but at the very least Valt also seemed to not be as invincible as he initially appeared. And that was the one thing keeping Dio hopeful that perhaps, just perhaps this fight wouldn't have been for nothing.
At least until the blue dragon's wounds started to heal of course, much to Dio and Gio's visible dismay.
And just like that, their teacher seemed to be back to fighting condition in less than a heartbeat, undoing any meaningful progress the twins had achieved. It was...disheartening, almost soul crushingly so. And all Dio could do was grind his teeth and punch the ground, frustrated. He had all the will to keep going but his pained body thought otherwise.
Then came the words that completely crushed any hopes for victory he had.
"Big bro...I don't think we can keep this up."
The belphemon's eyes widened, both in surprise and outrage, and almost as if helped by said outrage he managed with some difficulty to stand back up, just to turn to face his brother. "What? So you expect me to just yield?! After all this humiliation?!"
Surprisingly, there didn't seem to be any sort of strong emotion on Gio's face, except for a long, almost sigh. For a short, odd moment, it was almost as if the usual roles were reversed and Gio had become the actually thoughtful and mature sibling. Either that or he just knew his brother too well.
"Either we stop now, and lose our dignity, or we lose later completely and lose all of it." Was all the Hadesmon replieed, rubbing the back of his neck, sounding a bit reluctant yet firm. He knew this wasn't what his brother wanted to hear. But he also knew this was what his brother needed to do. After a long, awkward silence it was clear his brother agreed on some level, as he too let out a defeated sigh.
With a short flash of a dull and muted light the two mega's forms shrunk in size back again, leaving two battered and rather crestfallen looking rookies in their place. The impmon would pout and cross his arms, but eventually looked up back at Valt.
"Fine, you win." He'd say, before letting himself fall back first to the ground again.
On the plus side, Gio seemed a lot less sore about the whole thing. "That was so cool, sensei!"
"Honestly? I wouldn't know what to tell you, they can be uh...a bit dense." Carlos sighed, shaking his head at Ryouta. For all the time he spent with them, it was usually hard to tell when his partners actually understood what was being taught to them or not. Ultimately, whether they had gotten what this lesson was about or not remained to be seen. "At least they learned when to call it quits..." Honestly that was the most surprising part of it all, he was expecting Dio to keep bashing his head against the metaphorical wall.
Perhaps Gio was smarter than he gave him credit for.

Valt was ready to give the Belphemon more beatdown, but thankfully they gave up. Gio has indeed managed to reel his brother back. Valt smiled in approval and nodded. "Yes, that's the right choice. Listen well... it's fine to be prideful, it's fine to have huge ego, but remember that the bigger your ego is, the more likely it is to crumble if you don't know what you should prioritize.
A huge pride coupled with impulsive attitude could bring disaster. When you're losing, you would try to backpedal quickly, and the more you trip, the more you feel you have to try harder to fix it. There's nothing wrong with admitting your loss, and it takes a big man with a big heart to concede that he has indeed lost. You might lose the fight, but you did not lose the war. You at least don't have to came out of this with your bones broken, or worse. Remember that this is just a training... but if you guys still wanna go at me just because your pride said so, I'll undoubtedly will use my all to grind that sort of pride to dust."
Valt gently pat the two's shoulders. "But you two did not let that pride get too much to your brain, and that is praiseworthy. You two did well, and be proud of that. You did quite numbers on me, and you two got semblance of teamwork. Now you just have to know how to synergize that between you two, and next time it might not be my win, heh."
Regardless, Valt devolved and tossed two energy drinks at the twins. "Drink that one, and let's see... have you accepted me as your master yet, kiddoes?"
As for Ryouta, he looked quite happy with the turn of event. It looks like Dio and Gio

Truth be told, Dio was practically dreading what would come after admiting defeat. Would Valt throw more salt on the wound and berate the two some more? Perhaps make them go through some sort of painful exsercise to fully. Imagine his surprise when he heard that the Mega level's words weren't of smug superiority or a condescending teacher, but something different.
Encouragement. Advice. Words of wisdom. There were many ways one could describe Valt's words for the twins, but the gist of it couldn't have been clearer: don't let pride cloud your judgement. A hard but needed lesson, one that Dio was...admitedly to familiar with at this point. That was something his old teacher had tried to helped him with, but by his own admission he was a slow learner.
"Thanks but no thanks, I rather keep some of my pride intact, getting beaten up by you once was more than enough." He said with a chuckle, though judging by his expression it was clear laughing was somewhat painful for him right now. "You fought well old man....sorry, Valt."
Perhaps it was for being raised in the Dark Area, or simply his old Demon lord side talking, but deep down Dio couldn't help but feel honest respect for someone that could beat him so soundly in a fight. While outnumbered, no less! Sure, it hurt in more than one way, but losing to such a worthy opponent, even in something as a simple spar was nothing to be too ashamed off.
If nothing else, it was clear Valt truly wanted them to come out stronger from this, or at the very least wise. And honestly, even the megalomaniacal imp found himself nodding in agreement with the blue dragon's words. Though admitting out loud that Dio had to tone down his prideful ways was a considerably harder pill to swallow. Having said that however left them with only one thing to answer: had they accepted him as a teacher yet?
"Yes sir Valt-sama-sensei, sir!" Gio replied without a hint of a doubt in his voice, before taking a long drink from his bottle. Dio rolled his eyes a bit while a tiny smile formed in his face, before he too replied to Valt.
"What he said, "sensei"." He also took a long and needed sip from the energy drink letting out a satisfied and refreshed sigh once he was done. He looked up back at the Veemon as he rubbed he back of his own strained neck. "...so what next? And please don't say more sparring."

"Then that's good that you at least not prideful enough to just go fuck it all huh?" Valt teased. "But yeah, you're doing great."
Valt snorted when he's called an old man. "Well damn I'm old indeed. I better get myself some wife, get a kid, and retire--not really. I'm not ready to retire. Anyway, what's next huh? Well, first, let's do a post mortem. This is basically an analysis of what you did wrong in the fight, from you, to your enemy. It's not a gloating, so remember that. Match your praises and your criticism, and don't go for insults. Are you ready? But before that, I'll tell you something... The reason for this training being this brutal. I want to see what you're fighting for."
Valt took an energy drink for himself and popped up the cap, taking a huge gulp.
"A battle is a process of clash between ideal. For what are you fighting for? Survival? Desire to impress? Or something else? Always enter the battle with a clear mindset. Sometimes there are times where you have to fight before you're ready, but...you must quickly steel your heart. If you forgot why you're fighting, and for who you're fighting, you'll lose. For us who are partnered, the moment we lose is the moment our human is exposed to danger. That's why we can't lose. We can't get lost in that spiral of "fight for sake of fighting". There are times where tossing the combat in a situation where it can be beneficial like now is the best.
Imagine if this is real fight, you got trashed, and potentially got bones broken... Who is there to protect your partner? That's why you should calculate those. Steel your heart, let it be your sword, and clash it with your opponent's. A heart strong enough will win even through it's buffeted by tempest. And that's the key for those who are partnered like us."

"You could always do all of those things before retirement, no time like the present." The imp lightly teased in response, but kept quiet for the rest of the Veemon's lecture. There was a lot to take in at once, but what stood out to him immediatelly was Valt's question, which in the end was what his talk boiled down to: what were they fighting for? Glory? Prite? To protect his fragile ego? To prove something to Valt or himself? Only now he stopped to think and consider each of those possibilities, his mind finally clear and not clouded by the rage it had just a mere minutes ago.
He soon found out that he didn't quite have an answer for that question, as real or rethorical as it might had been. He had fought for all of those reasons, and yet none of them seemed like the actual justifications for his outburst, much less for his poor performance. He'd sigh, and once Valt paused he'd share some of his own thoughts.
"Honestly? I don't really know." He shook his head, before adding after giving it more thought, "Some of it was to see how strong you truly were compared to us I guess, but I'd be lying if I said I didn't do it partly for my own pride." He'd sigh, rubbing the back of his neck as he looked down, as if the weight of sincerity was literally weighing him down as he said so. He bit his lip, and added with a hint of shame in his tone, "...and well, I guess fighting for the sake of fighting also describes it pretty well." Old habits died hard, after all, specially for someone as old as a demon lord.
As for Gio? He felt the need to add his own opinion now that Dio was opening up, though of course he had a far more straightforward answer to give, "Well I just fought because Dio fought. I didn't want him to get hurt...or to get all the fun for himself." He shrugged, clearly not as conflicted as his own brother seemed to be about the whole thing.
That said, the imp found himself tsking loudly at the blue dragon's final point, on how bad it would have been for them to lose like this on a real fight, and how effectively doomed Carlos would be if that were to happen. It was a rather upsetting possibility, but one that was always in the back of the impmon's mind for better or worse.
"Yeah, no need to tell me twice. But how do we fight with our "heart" exactly? I don't suppose you mean ripping our cores out and using them as maces..."
