Disney Movie Binging Night! [Ophelia / Invite]

No idea what crossed the boy's mind back then, but he suddenly sent something to Ophelia, perhaps because he wanted to socialize with his mission taker more than just in coworker scope, but more to friends, and perhaps best friend! Who knows, they're both fiery, they're both often challenge people like no tomorrow... well, in a sense, they're both lions, except one is human, another is Digimon. Either way, that day, Tetsu decided to send the message.
TetsuGao - 18:25 PM Hey, Ophelia Do you want to watch some animated movie from real world? I think it would be fun! If you agree, just message me back! I think I'll start the movie around seven this evening! Bring some snacks just in case, because it'll be a long movie!
After hitting send, Tetsu readied himself some of the movies. His snack of choice being some chicken nuggets, pop corn, nachos and other sort of savory snacks. He guessed that if Ophelia is involved, then her sister Cassie probably would tag along, thus he readied some seafood snacks. It's simply some seaweed, fried squid and eel cracker. He also stocks his fridge with some soda, tea, and juices, maybe they'll fancy any of it? As for water, that's of course always available. Either way, he's ready... just need to wait the two.

When Ophelia had gotten the message, she and Cassie would've been wrestling together, out in the training fields outside Ys. "Prrrrp!" Ophelia would purr playfully as she pounced atop Cassie, prompting a surprised laugh from the Gomamon-X as the duo would go tumbling across the salty earth, before the little seal would - with surprising strength - roll them over, so that she was on top! "Pftahaha, hey!" Ophelia would call - to which Cassie would blow a playful raspberry, retorting "Hey yourself!"
The D-Nexus buzzing was quick to get both sisters' attentions, though - as they both parted to see what was up. Sitting down criss-cross on the ground and picking up the D-Nexus, Ophelia would go to check what she had been sent. "Oooh, ooh, is it another mission?" Cassie would ask with curiosity as Ophelia read over the message that she received from Tetsu - though the lioness would shake her head no. "No - it sounds like Tetsu wants to watch some movies with us!" Ophelia responded, smiling over to Cassie - which would make the sister perk curiously. Though Cassie had been told about what movies are, this would be her first time seeing them - and it would be Ophelia's second time seeing movies! "Heck yeah, I wanna see some movies!" Cassie would chirp excitedly, nearly bowling Ophelia over in trying to get a look at the messages - "Woah, easy there!" the little lioness would laugh, as she would be quick to respond.
Ophelia - 18:27 Hell yeah! Be there soon!
Ophelia's message was quick and to the point, as the duo would get up. "Snacks... Maybe we should get some jerky from Ilbert before we go see Tetsu?" She would suggest to Cassie - to which she'd nod, "Yeah, yeah! Jerky sounds good!" as the two would run off to prepare for the coming moviefest...
. . .
... Thus, it wasn't too much longer that Ophelia and Cassie would arrive - the lioness carrying... A bucket of assorted jerky, it seemed. Ophelia's tail was swaying happily, ears perked as she asked "Hey, Tetsu! What movie are we starting with?" And Cassie was more than happy to try and greet Tetsu with a hug "Tetsuuuuu~!" As per usual, Cassie's exuberant hugs had some strength to them - but perhaps the only reason why she wasn't bowling Tetsu over immediately, was because he was a pretty strong kid! Either way, Ophelia was quick to make herself at home, finding a spot to plop down with her bucket of jerky, grinning excitedly. She'd lift the bucket up in Tetsu's direction - asking "Want some jerky?" as she settled down, Cassie plopping down next to her once the hug was over with.

Tetsu's room have that fine balance between cool and warm it seems. Color brown and green dominates the room, creating natural, calming feel. It's colder than Karin's room by some degree, but that's probably because he lived in the colder part of Japan. It however smelled like the forest of the eastern land. There are even small meat garden on the balcony. It's seem he also grow some other plants too at it. Even though he's small his bed meanwhile are king sized. There are some decoration on the table near the bed, for example a diorama of the shelter project. Despite he doesn't look like the type to read, there are also books here, mostly about fairytale and fantasy, but also farming tips and tricks.
Still the main attraction is the mini theater. Tetsu have widescreen TV and sound system. His room is also soundproofed, so they would less likely to disturb other people in the base. Tetsu straightened himself after being tackled by Cassie, but he ruffled the Gomamon X's hair affectionately in return.
"Hey! Glad to see you guys don't mind my sudden request! Ah, don't mind if I do."
Tetsu took a bite of the offered jerky and chew on it. Admittedly, he really like jerkies, even if it's just for chewing.
Well, either way, Tetsu also plopped down to the floor, where he already put some pillow. The floor aren't cold either considering that it's carpeted with warm, fur carpet.
"So, Ophi, Cassie, do you know about things called 'cartoon'?"

Ophelia and Cassie both found the room to be rather cozy, overall. Even if it was colder than, say, Karin's room - it was about as cold as they tried to keep their room, and so they very quickly felt at home in it. The two would plop down on the pillows that were laid out across the ground, the two sisters being quick to snuggle up to Tetsu. Meanwhile, Ophelia would grab a piece of jerky from the bucket to munch on as she responded to Tetsu's greeting. "Of course!" She'd mention, tail swishing and swaying happily. "These movies are pretty damn cool - and I'm always down to hang out with you guys!" Cassie would nod her agreement, chirping "I wanna see what these movies are all about - and I wanna get to know you all better, too!" as she snuggled up to Tetsu, smiling brightly and happily.
At Tetsu's question of 'cartoons', though, the two sisters would think for a second. "... I think I've heard of them? But I don't think I've seen any," Ophelia responded with a shrug, adding "They're drawn instead of acted out, right?" Cassie, similarly, would shake her head - "I don't really know what a cartoon is, myself - beyond what Ophi just said." She'd chuckle sheepishly with this - she was more or less going into this blind!

"Yep yep, that's right!" Tetsu answered. "Live action means they're doing their acting by themselves, but cartoons and animated movies are where the actor have to do voice acting, which is acting, but only by your voice. Many said that voice acting is less tasking than regular, live action acting but it's also hard, mainly because to voice act only with your voice, you must have some certain talent with it."
And so, Tetsu pulled out some of his blu ray collections. "These has been transferred to digital world recorder format so it can be played in this world without any sort of hitch. So which one you want to see first? We have tale about lion... ah but this one is a bit heavy for a Digimon I guess... there is also Mulan, there's also traditional classics if those are not your stuff..."
"My personal favorite is Ratatouille," Gryz commented as he approached the trio with snacks and drinks. "It's 3D rather than hand drawn. What do you guys want to watch?"

The duo would both listen closely as Tetsu explained the difference between live action and cartoons, as well as the difference between the kinds of acting required for it; visibly curious. However... As the two listened though, Cassie would tilt her head a bit - asking "Why do people do drawn animation instead of live action, though?" She didn't quite get it; wouldn't that be a lot of work, making pictures that actually moved? More work than it'd probably take to just act it all out yourself? Ophelia, too, would hum for a second before she'd add in "Is it really that hard to act with just your voice?" Certainly, she probably couldn't voice act some big deep-voiced character, but...
Seeing the different selection of movies though, the twins would perk up curiously; looking it all over. There was such a large collection; different movies about different things, the duo could scarcely make up their minds of where to start! At the mention of a movie about a lion though, and it being heavy... Ophelia would glance up in Tetsu's direction, asking "What do you mean by that?"
As Gryz came out and mentioned his personal favorite though, snacks and drinks in tow, Cassie would perk up visibly. "Uhmm... Me and Ophi don't really know, there's a whole bunch of movies to choose from! But... lets start with that one you just mentioned! Ratat..too...lie?"... Well, she tried at least. Ophelia would giggle a bit - prompting for Cassie to blow a playful raspberry at her - and mentioning "Hell yeah, let's start with that one!"

"Mmmm, so... I think you guys knows a bit about how other creatures than human in real world act? They're not as intelligent as you guys, or have technique they can use that's... more than what they can do physically, right? It's impossible to communicate with them as we have been communicating with you guys. They understand some cues, but they won't understand another... it's basically... really really really hard to do so...
So, in stories, there are those called 'fables', or 'stories which involves animal thinking, talking, and acting like human. Kids loves these stories because kids are fond of animals, and talking animals on top of it? It's cool isn't it? Well, I'm not sure if you guys get it... because Digimons are common for you guys... but imagine the feeling of kids who haven't seen a lot of Digimon.... or imagine Kenny-san I guess? I think he really love animals that I think of it...
But basically, fantasy are nice because they're fantasy. It amazes you in a way more than one, you see?
Then... people would begin to question, how to bring this sort of fantasy to reality? Or how to make it moving, when they're not real at all? People eventually learn technique called animation."
Tetsu draws a stickman on an end of a page. He draws them on 20 pages, each with individual walking frame. "Try to flip it quickly, you'll see what I mean. Either way, animation was popular form of art, to bring the art to life, to tell stories in different angle than live action. There are no inferior one when it comes to storytelling but one style is more suitable than another one different situation! And even if it's a hard work, people who likes to draw will draw anyway, because it's fun!"
Meanwhile as for Ophelia's question.
"Let's see..." Tetsu took a book from the bookshelf and read it a bit... He then closed it and...
"HA!" Did several moves, martial arts it looked like. Finely trained, executed in such way that not a beginner could pull. Kicks, punches, they're all sharp. Each strikes, he let out a battlecry. At first the sisters might not understand what he's doing...
"...and now, without doing all that sort of martial arts."
Tetsu recites a page of the story, where apparently a chinese martial arts is fighting against an opponent. However, even if he's giving it his all, it doesn't look that he can describe it with intensity such as before when he acted it.
"...Thus is the difference."
Guess they'll play Ratatouille first huh? Well, let's see how they like it... They might find it a bit strange now that he think of it. The opening scene was... how Remy is trusted by his peers because he can differentiate which food have pesticides and which one doesn't... but he just want to cook, huh.
How would they feel about it he wonder.

So... People like stuff like animation, because it brings stuff that isn't real to life, in a way? Indeed, as Tetsu said; the concept of talking animals didn't seem the most amazing thing, given that they themselves were - in a way - talking animals. But... At the same time, Ophelia could understand why that would be amazing to a human; she could certainly still recall how Amethyst had reacted to her and Valt, way back when. And at the mention of Kenny, the two couldn't help but chuckle and nod, understanding; even though Kenny was typically chill and friendly, the guy really was full of energy and excitement under the right circumstances. Frankly, Ophelia could appreciate that energy; especially considering Skadi was practically her match!
As Tetsu would begin drawing out the stickman animation, the two digimon would watch closely; curious to see what he was up to. It didn't take too long for them to see what Tetsu meant either, as they would flip back and forth between the pages of the animation, Cassie giggling a bit. This was all starting to make a lot more sense to her - and to Ophelia, as well, who had been wondering similar things even if it was Cassie that asked about animation initially. The two siblings would nod in understanding and acknowledgement to Tetsu though, Cassie chirping "The movies you set out do look pretty cute!" with a smile.
And then came the question of voice acting. Initially, neither sibling was really sure what Tetsu was doing, as he took a book and began reading it over; what did this have to do with voice acting? Tetsu suddenly acting something out didn't help in matters, either - the initial shout of 'HA!' startling both siblings visibly! "Mrrp?!" "Yeep!" Both of them were unable to deny that Tetsu's series of moves - with a cry accompanying each strike - was impressive, though; Ophelia in particular watching with awe. Maybe she should ask Tetsu to teach her a few tricks, sometime...
But the second time around that he'd recite it - this time without the fighting moves - it quickly became noticable, the difference in emotion and vigor in his tone this time around as opposed to when he was legitimately acting it out. "It must be harder to get that tone quite right, then, in voice acting as opposed to live action." Ophelia would muse out loud, nodding in understanding and humming gently to herself as she thought it all over.
As for the movie though, the two siblings would watch with visible curiosity, in learning of Remy's origins, his role amongst his peers, and his dream job as a cook... Cassie, personally, just liked learning about and getting to know Remy, even if she didn't necessarily relate too much to his struggles; though Ophelia, on the other hand... Seemed to find a curiosity in it, watching with noticeable intrigue as she munched on a piece of jerky. She wasn't entirely sure what about Remy's story caught her attention, but... She liked it!

"When it comes to live action acting, there is this method where you can pull it from experience you have experienced, and it's easier to get in the role of the character... because you're not just using your voice, but also your entire body. I think Ryouta-nii was an actor or some sort, Karin-nee too... so I think you should ask them how they act... With voice it's much harder because at times you have to stay still because the microphone can catch even the sound of your clothes flapping... It's hard, really."
Gryz meanwhile at this time nommed on the snacks provided. He seem to enjoy the movie. After all, this is the movie that made him more interested in cooking. He was interested before, but only on the 'it's seem nice to be able to cook for yourself', but Remy eating strawberry and cheese together was the spark that made him interested in harmony of cooking to begin with. Speaking of which, now they're in the restaurant scene.
"By the way... Rats are often stigmatized as disease carriers..." Tetsu would say "there was a case where rats spread disease called Black Plague. It killed nearly 60% of population in a continent in real world called Europe. It was like... some hundred years ago. They said the black plague are caused by fleas that lives in the black rats. Since then rats are treated as pests... that's why Remy's appearance in the kitchen is... well, bad. On top of you see how he have to steal crops and whatnots to stay alive, they're stigmatized as plague carriers... so... they're treated as pests."

Ryouta and Karin were actors, too? Ophelia's eyes would light up curiously at the notion - wondering what kind of things they've acted for, before. "I sure as hell will, I'm pretty damn curious!" Ophelia would chirp with a wide grin - Cassie nodding in agreement. "Me too! I wonder what sort of acting they've done... Was it voice acting, or... Live Action acting?" The Gomamon-X would hum to herself as she pondered her own question, wondering if the two of them could learn to act from Ryouta or Karin - even if it's just for fun!
Regardless though, the two sisters would both be munching on jerky in the meantime as they continued to watch the movie - watching as Remy found his spark that drove him to cook, and... The two siblings would think for a moment as they watched it - before Cassie would go for the fridge, to grab a different snack! She'd come back with some eel crackers and seaweed, as well as a couple sodas for herself and Ophelia, as she settled down next to her sister. Ophelia, curious, would glance over at the things that Cassie had gathered - and would take one of the eel crackers to give it a shot.
Cassie, however... She proceeded to layer together a bit of the jerky, seaweed, and a couple of the eelcrackers on the top and bottom... Before shoving it all into her mouth at once! Ophelia would blink at Cassie in quiet surprise, and was unable to help a soft snicker at Cassie's attempt to imitate Remy... At least, that was until Cassie briefly began choking on the mass of food in her mouth with a sharp gagging sound!
"Shit!" Ophelia would yelp in alarm, grabbing one of the cans of soda and opening it - before handing it to Cassie, who proceeded to chug it down; washing down the food proper. "Mistakes... were made..." The little Gomamon-X would simply mutter between pants once she finally set the now-empty can down, laughing weakly. This would prompt a nervous laugh from Ophelia, as she asked "We good?" "Yeah, we good... That was tasty, though!" This would cause Ophelia to blink a second, before laughing a hair more brightly. Well, guess she at least had that going for her...!
As Tetsu would comment on rats though, and why they had a stigma to them... Ophelia would frown faintly; glancing to the movie briefly before she asked "But if it's the fleas that were the problem... Why didn't they get after the fleas, too? Why were rats the only thing that got blamed for it?" It didn't 100% make sense to her - she understood how rats could be seen as bad as a result of this, but why only the rats? Cassie, too, seemed curious - but she was quiet, busy chewing on her strange eelcracker-jerky-seaweed sandwich much more carefully this time, to make sure she didn't choke again.

"In case of Ryou-nii I heard it's 'mute acting'. In case of Karin-nee I heard it's both. Oh, mute acting is basically an acting where you don't have any lines to act, just actions. For example... Let's say Cassie is reading my lines as I acted my previous actions of kicking and whatnots. It's a popular technique used when you do Tokusatsu. Basically, the silent actor do the acting while the voice actor do their dialogue." Tetsu explained.
What has Cassie done however at first amuses Tetsu. He keeps watching what is she about to do Stacking the foods? Alright, that's standard, but... that's savory + savory + savory, you know... Come to think of it, should he stop her? But at the same time he's also curious... so he took smaller portion than what Cassie did, then stacking it... and took a bite, chewing it... slowly, slowly...
SALTY
Despite so, Tetsu's farmer spirit refuses to spit all of this! It's food and he must be grateful! It's made with LOVE!
"...What on earth are you two doing?" Gryz muttered, looking at the two wild kids. Tetsu finally swallowed and chugged a soda. "Boy, that was salty."
"...Of course it is. Dried seaweeds, Eel crackers... Oh boy... here." Gryz would pour some honey mustard on a dipping plate. "Dip your nugget there. That's more to what Remy meant."
As for Ophi's question... Tetsu took a little time to answer.
"So... thing is, fleas on rats are hard to destroy, specifically because rats are wild animals, not pets. That means you have to catch all rats to totally eradicate them, but that's impossible. How could you even catch rats? They lives in small places, ones that human can't reach... and not to mention, rats breeds quickly. They also eats human's foods, so they're also pest. I guess it's a necessary sacrifice... but even then, even if rats are pest, they're also very beneficial for humans... it's thanks to rats sacrifices that human medicine studies can be as advanced as it is now. Even if they're pest, they also have their uses... that's why I feel it's important to be grateful for their existence also. In that sense, all lives are precious."

"Huhm..." Cassie would hum curiously as Tetsu explained the two ways that Ryouta and Karin tended to act. Mute Acting sounded... Kind of bizarre to her, though - and Ophelia couldn't help but find it odd, too; it didn't quite all add up in her head. "Why would someone do mute acting?" Ophelia would ask now, tilting her head. "Wouldn't they run into the issue same of how you can't quite put all the energy and emotion n' shit into the voice, if you're not actually going through the actions?"
Even though Cassie's experimentation with the snacks did indeed come out quite salty, though... She seemed to have no problem chowing down on a second of the strange pseudo-sandwich! Ophelia would blink, and try a tiny bit as well - though would come to the same conclusion as Tetsu did, as she made a rather amusing-looking grimace and just managed to swallow it down. "G-geez, Cassie... Ain't that a little salty?" She'd mention to the Gomamon-X with a laugh, gulping down a bit of her soda, to which Cassie shrugged. "Iunno, it still tastes decent to me!"
Just what kind of tastebuds did Cassie have..??
Either way, it at least seemed that Cassie wasn't beyond appreciating what Remy was really going for in the movie - perking up curiously as Gryz got her some honey mustard and nuggets. She'd sniff the honey mustard a bit with curiosity, noting its sweet scent, before taking a nugget and dipping it in. Munching down on the nugget, though... Cassie's eyes would light up as she tasted it, the sweet and the savory. Her stubby tail (and the back half of her body by extension) wiggling a bit, she'd proceed to munch down on a few more nuggets with the provided dip, before offering a nugget to Ophelia. "Ophi, try some of this; it's pretty good!" She'd chirp.
Ophelia, curious, would take the provided nugget and dip it in the honey mustard as well, before munching it down. Her ears pricked curiously at this - noting the contrast and complementary of the sweet and the savory, prompting her to nod in response. "Hell yeah!" She'd grin, deciding to take a piece of jerky and dip it in the honey mustard as well, tail swishing contentedly as she chewed on the jerky. "The sweet and the savory go together really well," She'd comment with a smile.
At the talk of rats though, Ophelia and Cassie would quietly listen - humming gently. So to deal with the fleas, humans would've had to deal with the rats, which wasn't very doable. Rats also tended to eat other peoples' food, which is what led to them being regarded as a pest... The duo would quietly nod in understanding - though Cassie couldn't help a small smile, adding "Though... It is nice to hear that, even if rats do cause trouble for people, that they can also help people, too!" She'd also nod in agreement to the idea that all life is precious - everyone, even the smallest lifeform, has their part in the world! That's partially why she liked healing so much - she wanted to help preserve that life! "I can understand why rats might eat a human's food, though - and why humans would want to protect that food." Ophelia commented idly - adding "Everyone's gotta eat, somehow. That's survival for ya."

"Right, mute acting is another medium of storytelling. There are those called pantomimes who completely do their acts in silence, and at times without helping tools. The idea is "the audience doesn't need to be fed visuals to blatant extent to understand what the actor is doing."
Tetsu stood up, then for some reason began to pretend he's pulling something... then as he pulls, it looked like he's exerting all his power, before he acted the fall, as if he managed to pull the object, only the force caused him to fall. It's nothing to level of the true pantomime, but he did get the point across.
"And in so called 'Tokusatsu', which is basically a japanese action series, which usually involves hero versus alien villain, sometimes the actor had to do dangerous acting with explosives and such. So, when this happened, a trained substitute actor called 'stunt double' will do their acting. The original actor provides the voice. In Tokusatsu it's easier because each actor wears costumes that covers their entire body, so it's not like anyone would nitpick and go 'hey, why the actor looked different?"
It's interesting to teach the two of these girls human culture... he wishes that his explanation is enough. Unfortunately, being eleven years old, he knows very well that his explanation might be flawed. Still, he hopes that it could spark more interest in the two so he could ask them again for movie binging night.
...Another interesting thing is that Cassie's tastebud... might be a bit broken.
"By the way," Gryz pointed at the poor Alfredo Linguini who's at this point spilled the soup and trying hard to fix it... but ended up ruining it so bad, only for Remy to help him. "...You shouldn't do that. Yes, fixing mistake is a good way to be responsible, but if you don't know what you're doing, that's bad. It's best to just calm down and think how you can fix it rather than doing random thing in panic. It's especially true in cooking. If you're meddling, make sure that you know what you're doing... Yes, meddling is wrong most of the times, but when you can help someone that way, you should do it... but only if you know what you're doing."

There were so many different kinds of acting, and so many different kinds of actors... Ophelia and Cassie both were trying their best to wrap their heads around all of this information they were learning from Tetsu - though even if they were clearly very interested in human culture, it did seem like this was starting to get to be a bit much for the sisters to process. They at least understood what Tetsu was trying to go for, though; the duo giggling and chuckling as he began to pantomime out pulling on an object, only to fall over in the process! Cassie in particular would clap her flippers as she giggled, grinning cheerily in the young boy's direction.
As Tetsu explained the concept of Tokusatsu though, Ophelia would think for a moment, before musing out loud "I guess if your face is hidden, then it'd also be easy to voice act something without, well... Worrying about making sure you're saying it at the same time as your stunt double?" Cassie, too, would ponder the concept, before tilting her head, frowning gently. "But what happens if your stunt double ends up hurt?" She'd ask, concern apparent in her expression. "Do they just... Get another stunt double? What if that double ends up hurt, too?" Humans didn't have the same type of abilities - including healing abilities - that digimon did; and according to Ophelia, humans who die don't come back... So getting hurt must be far more serious for them than digimon, yeah...?
Though, as far as Cassie's taste buds went, she at least seemed to have an appreciation for Actually Good Food; happily munching on nuggets as she dipped them in the honey mustard. Perhaps she just wasn't very picky, to a certain fault?
As Gryz pointed out the spilled soup and Alfredo's failed attempts to fix his mistakes, though, the two siblings would nod in understanding. "So, don't bite off more than you can chew?" Cassie would ask, glancing in Gryz' direction, whilst Ophelia idly commented - mostly to herself - "You'd think cleaning up a spill wouldn't be that hard, though I guess panicking can make even simple shit difficult..."

"That's... the sad thing actually... Stunt doubles tends to be underappreciated. They're paid lower than actual actor... if you're new you'll only make about 5000$ a year apparently, which is about... uuuuuhhhh... lessee..."
"It's very low amount for risking your life," Gryz tossed a lifeline for Tetsu "...But at the same time, some people do it because they love the challenge. If you're doing great, you actually could get a lot of job simply by doing that sort of thing. But I honestly don't really appreciate how little they're valued in movies at times."
"That I have to agree," Tetsu commented. "Well, there are safer gigs, but usually the higher the danger, the more you get. But to be honest, I don't feel that sort of thing is worth it... And yes, frankly, if stunt double got hurt, then you get another one... usually. That's why it's a sad thing. Well, it's not like the fatality and injury rate is great. The movie crew will also make sure as best as they can that the stunt double won't get killed in action."
Gryz nodded at the two's conclusion. "And don't overestimate your ability... but never underestimate it. Remember, at times in the crisis, your ability will get honed more because of the pressure... however, if you panic and you got too far out from your rhythm, you'll end up messing too much... So calm yourself down, gather your bearings, ask if you need assistance. KIZNA tips #3, that one. You're not alone, remember that, ladies."
Gryz ended his sentence with his characteristic zen faced smile.
It looked like Linguini managed to hide Remy from the chef, and as expected, he was chewed out, but the soup is well liked.
"Remy looked as if he's totally expecting it, don't you think? Having that sort of calmness and self assurance is very great."
