"Because..." Mei the Meicoomon slowly looked up after leaving her onigiri half eaten. "Because the fact that it's thought all Digimon of certain species have similarity in programming... like Agumons with hunger issue might sounds funny, but as far as Mei knows, it's something like a species trait... That's why the most natural thing for people is to assume that all Meicoomons are the same. That they might have 'feral, destructive traits' with them. Of course it might not be true... maybe it's not true at all.. But the pattern is there."
She returned to much her onigiri soon after, listening to the talk. Mei the human seem to be a bit conflicted hearing that. Obviously her Meicoomon isn't like that at all. Hell, she's like a kid who knows how to be well behaved. Although she know that... it's an undeniable fact that Mei's point of view is those of a wild cat's, not those of a human. While she hates violence, she's not above actually using it when threatened.
"...Mei heard Luminas has somehow... you know, changed in one way or another." Mei the Meicoomon said after a moment of silence. "Well, it's not like they stopped hating Virus type, but Mei heard they're less radical about it. Even so, indeed there are stigmas in this world too. Mei feel it's worse when it's pretty much view of majority instead of simply view of minority."
Mmmm so they're part of a team?
"...What is it about?" suddenly Mei looked interested. "If Mei join, will Mei have it easier to change people's perspective on Mei's species?"
Hmmm, this time around, Kenny asked her permission. The Meicoomon finished her meal and pushes her head toward the waiting hand, bunting it several times like a regular cat. Looks like he's forgiven fully.

Kenny and Skadi would resume eating their lunch as Mei-chan explained about the programming of Digimon, like with her own species, and subsequently, the consequences of it, mainly that Meicoomons were seen as nothing more than destructive menaces to the public eye, just because of the reputation of that one genocidal feral. Which, as Kenny and Skadi could tell so far, Mei-chan couldn't - and wouldn't - hurt a fly. Of course, Kenny and Skadi had interacted with 2 Impmon, whom while their kind were often said to be malicious, Bellamy and Max easily averted that assumption. Still, it was a sad reality, and Skadi hoped that someday, no Digimon would have to face discrimination.
Mei-chan continued, pointing out that, from what she heard, Luminas had eased up on the discrimination of Virus types, even though they hadn't dropped it completely, before wishing that people would not judge based on the vocal minority. Kenny could easily relate; he remembered all the times people mocked him and bullied him because of his autism. He sighed sadly, and nodded, "Yeah, you're right. At least a lot of people are working to at least help those discriminated, at least."
The mention of KIZNA, however, seemed to make Mei's ears perk up in interest (metaphorically, at least), thinking that by joining the organisation, she'd be able to rectify her species' reputation. Kenny gave a friendly smile to the Meicoomon, before he asked to pet her. Thankfully, this time around, the Meicoomon didn't hesitate, in fact, she pushed herself over and rubbed her head against Kenny's palm. The feeling of the Meicoomon's fur on his skin felt just as good the second time around.
"KIZNA's really good, man." He said, affectionately rubbing the Meicoomon's head in turn, "We work to help keep the peace in the Digital World, and maintain good relationships between both humans and Digimon. Although, I guess my little antics earlier kinda flew in the face of that part." He chuckled morosely, "But anyways, KIZNA's like one of the most popular organisations of the Digital World, and many of it's members are actually really well known and respected."
He lowered his hand from the Meicoomon after he finished up his petting, before looking at the two girls, "In fact, you's two look like a perfect fit for KIZNA." He added, with Skadi nodding like a yesman, "I'm sure Yuuki will let you in in no time. I can recommend you to him, and I bet he'll let you guys into KIZNA in no time at all. And hopefully, we can rectify your species' poor reputation in no time."
With lunchtime over, Kenny packed the rest of the stuff back into the Infini-store, "Hey, Mei," He said to the human as he got up, "I can tell you a bit more about KIZNA while we go on a bit of a walk, while our Digimon pick seashells together." He did spot what Mei-chan was doing earlier, so why not appeal to something she was doing.
"I heard there was some really good seashells on this part of the beach!" Skadi added, happily getting up and gesturing Mei-chan to follow her, in turn. The duo would get up, Kenny also gesturing the human Mei to follow. The sun was starting to lower a little bit, so why not go ahead for a beautiful walk to the beach. And maybe Mei would tell him something that would appeal KIZNA's higher ups to her.

Interesting... so apparently it's one of the most popular group in Digital World? She's guessing it's more of having to do with the fame of the members specifically? Especially when Kenny said something about big names... Honestly she have no idea what to gauge the popularity of someone, but... well, she'll trust his words for it considering he's the more senior in this sort of thing.
"Ah, I don't know how good we'll be but... thank you. We're happy to hear that, even if it's just a lip service." Mei isn't quite someone who would immediately believe that she's well suited for something huge... if a company said that she's 'perfect', obviously she'll think that it's just a mere pep talk or just a lip service... understandably, there are chances that Kenny seriously meant it that way, but that's not the first thing in her mind when someone said a newbie like her is "perfect".
"Well, um... do we really qualify for it? I mean... I really don't want to impose. Sure it's good to be part of a team, but... at the same time I'm not sure if we're that qualified really... I'm afraid we'll drag you down or something. Of course we don't intend to, but there must be some minimum requirement right?"
...By the way, did he just... invite her for a walk? That sounds like a date isn't it? Mei raised an eyebrow.
"...Are you setting a mood or something?" she joked.

(The human) Mei had raised a good point, all things considered. Did she and her partner really qualify for it? Kenny's mind went back to when he trained with Ryouta as he took the time to think for a bit; he did mention that KIZNA required a lot of physical finesse thanks to the missions, but the recent addition of new team divisions (one being research and exploration) helped to accomidate for those not really suited for setting foot into combat (Peresphone, for one would easily attest for this).
However, the same Mei's comment about Kenny's suggestion did manage to catch him a little off guard, forcing a small blush to form on his face. This was clearly not lost on Skadi, trying her hardest to stifle her giggles by covering her mouth. "Uhhhhh... not intentionally, no. I just thought it would be nice for the both of us to do so while we talked about it." He explained, awash with sheepish feelings. Clearly, that did not help his case, as Skadi was now flat out laughing hard at her tamer's embarrassment. Granted, Kenny was still working on his social norms, as while he was much better before he moved to Japan, there was still a clear room for improvement on his end.
Nether mind that. It was time to explain his case, as he gestured the human Mei to go along with him, while Skadi would try to find seashells with the Meicoomon Mei. The water gently tickled his feet as he walked along the shore, "Well, you don't need to be super strong or tough to join KIZNA. In fact, they let a wimp like me join KIZNA along with Skadi because of our skillset. Besides, I bet either you and Mei have a whole bunch of useful skills that could help the team outside of combat, maybe like really good analytical skills, or something."
Meanwhile, Skadi was looking around for good shells to show the Meicoomon Mei-chan. She found some small ones so far, and while they looked nice, they were certainly not something to write home about so far. Hopefully, they would find something that would (sorry) blow the others out of the water.

"...Well that's setting the mood indeed, huh?" Mei further joked. Even the Meicoomon Mei chortled at this. "Mei had no idea Mei is a prankster, but this is new."
Either way, she complied. Walking does indeed feels nice after that meal. She's not that much of an eater, and walking after meal seem to be a nice way to let the food settle down some. They have sat plenty after all. And it's not immediate, so that should be good? Either way...
"...I never really saw Mei-chan fight now that I think of it. I... let's just say I never really got in that sort of situation before? We tried to be as careful as we can honestly... but... Well, Mei-chan is a Meicoomon, so you know how she got bad stares now and then. We thought if we steps out of the city without much preparation it could lead us to be in danger, so...
Mmm, either way... what I'm saying is... I don't know how capable is Mei-chan, but are you sure that's OK? To join without actually knowing how good is your partner... other than the fact that apparently she can talk cat and dogs, and apparently she's good at spying and stalking."

As the two tamers and their Digimon walked among the shore together, the human Mei brought up what was an admittedly good point; she didn't really seem to know the true combat prowess of the Meicoomon Mei-chan, mainly because she never really saw Mei-chan fight at all, and that giant kitty cat was mainly good at 'spying and stalking', as she put it. Now that was quite a conundrum they had there. But Kenny could work with it.
"Well, spying and stalking, or rather, stealthy skills in general, can be very useful skills." Kenny pointed out, "That can be very useful when you're exploring, especially when there's scary monsters nearby, and you want to try and make an alternate route to help the team find a safe pathway, that could be very useful to the team, and..." He paused for a moment, before he spoke up, beaming as he thought of an idea.
"Actually, Mei, I could scan your partner to help learn what's she's capable of. I do have the Improved Scanner installed on my Digivice, after all." He smiled at her, waving the D-Nexus in the air a little, before turning to the monster cat, "Mei-chan, may I scan you please? I just need to check something with your tamer quickly." He asked. If so, then Kenny would proceed to scan her to help snoop out her potential combat skills.
No matter what, after that was out of the way, he turned back to the human Mei, "That reminds me, you could have some useful skills you might call your own. Maybe you could use your smarts to help solve puzzles, or study some ancient artefacts; you get to be very hands on with them." Hopefully Mei would figure one of her skills would be very useful for KIZNA.
Meanwhile, as the 2 Digimon were going around, looking for shells near the shore, one particularly large one caught her eye, a slightly larger than normal, smooth white snail-like shell sticking out from the sand. Skadi's eyes gleamed as she looked at the glinting treasure that lay before them.
"Mei-chan! Look! I found a pretty big one right there!" She happily exclaimed as she ran over to it to pick it up. As she pulled it out of the sand, however, she would find the shell to be slightly heavier than normal, and not just because of the sand; quite a little bit had fallen out of it. Her ears twitching a little bit, she turned the shell over to her front, only to be greeted by a hermit crab, who called the shell home.
Without hesitation, the hermit crab lunged a claw out at Skadi and pinched her in the nose, and not a moment later was she bleating in pain, as she flailed around in a vain attempt to toss the crustacean off her nose, resulting in Kenny running over to his poor partner to try and help her. But despite this, it would be a little too hard, as her constant movement made her hard to reach her. Finally, she grabbed the shell, and successfully tossed it, and the crab, back onto the sand further away from them. The creature just skittled off into the distance, like nothing happened, leaving Skadi with a red, swollen snout.
Rubbing her ailing snout, Skadi just turned back to the group with a sheepish grin, "Sorre about thet, guyes," she said, "Ey guees I should've been a lettle mor' carefool ther."

To be honest, these are rather overwhelming, but she guess there are no better to learn than now. "Mei-chan, what do you think?" she asked her partner, who quickly just shrugged. "Mei is not opposed to it," she simply replied, then returned to whatever she's doing at the meantime.
The scan in question would definitely yield something, mostly two skills of the cat.
And it's seem that both are protective abilities after all. "...Those skills you mentioned before doesn't seem to be my forte the slightest," Mei awkwardly laughed. "Like I said, I'm just... a medical student... no, nursing school student you see. I don't think I have that sort of edge.. Puzzle solving might be fine, but artifact? I think that's not... my forte or my interest... But if there are any place for a nurse to be then I guess by any means..."
Well, Skadi indeed... but it's a hermit crab! Indeed it's hard to differentiate between just a mere shell and a hermit crab, but talk about a huge one! Mei was puffed the entire time.. she never saw anything like that! What on earth was that? But thankfully Kenny tossed it away, so she... approached Skadi and pats her nose with her feeler, healing it.
"Pain pain, go away~ To the mountain you go, far from the beach~"
It's admittedly a small song she improvised, but hey, cute is cute.

So apparently, Mei-chan had quite good known set of support moves so far, which, for whenever combat reared it's ugly head at any given moment in time, making Kenny smile in interest as he observed the information. Perhaps, given due time, these 2 Meis could be a great doctor-nurse duo, on and off the field. But the human Mei had pointed out that, yes, she was merely a bog-standard nursing student. But despite this, the human Mei merely shrugged off that idea. But already a thought was quickly brewing in Kenny's mind.
All the while, as he saved Skadi from the hermit crab, leaving her nose sore, the kitty Mei-chan had stepped in and, with the help of an admittedly adorable ditty, healed the Valaismon's aling nose with just her bare paws. Almost immediately, Skadi could feel her nose shrinking back to normal, and the red fading away gradually, the pain following suit as well.
For a few moments, Skadi could only blink in surprise and feel her own nose once more at what just happened. Then a wide smile grew on her face as she looked at Mei-chan with a grateful smile, "...Mei-chan, that was amazing. I didn't know you could do that. Thank you." While she did outstretch her arms for a hug, she just stood there in place, hoping Mei-chan would easily get the memo in turn. That good fluffy feline did deserve a hug for what she did after all.
At this point, a thought came to Kenny as he suddenly spoke up, and raised his hand to try and grab everyone's attention (it did grab Skadi's, at least), "Wait, guys. I think I have a great idea! Maybe you could join the team as medics? I actually know of a good doctor on KIZNA that could show you guys the ropes, and even teach you a thing. Her name's Holly. I don't she - or in fact, anyone else for that matter - would mind another nurse/doctor combo on the team, right?" He winked. "And besides, I'm pretty sure an amazing, and adorable, Meicoomon doc on a well respected team would already do your kind a world of wonders, right?"
Granted, Kenny had no idea that there was already a Meicoomon running around on the team (being you-know-who), but hey, also probably wouldn't hurt if 2 Meicoomons were helping to make both the real world and the Digital World a better place, right?

"Nyufufufu~ That's right, Mei is very good at healing!" the Meicoomon boasted... but quickly stuck out her tongue mischievously. It's seem that she's not really a boastful type. But she's definitely the hugging type. The moment the hug is offered, Mei just hugged back and wrapped her feelers around Skadi. Technically the right way to get healed by Mei is by being hugged like this. Also, her fur naturally emits some form of aromatherapy when hugging someone. What a busy cat.
...Well joining the team as a medic isn't wrong at all, but... "That's wrong, Mei isn't a medic," the Meicoomon suddenly said. "...Mei is more suited for spying," she would say. Well, it's true while the human is more to suited for medic work, looks like the cat is more interested in being a stalke-- I mean spy. But looks like neither is truly opposed to that sort of arrangement after all...
"...Well, I think we can try if we're allowed to do trial and all that..."

Cheekiness and playfulness, all wrapped up in one walking talking kitty-shaped package. As Kenny watched his and human!Mei's partner's hug it out with one another, Skadi happily nuzzling Meicoomon!Mei-chan and lightly bleating ear soothing bleats without a care in in the world, Kenny couldn't help but chuckle a little at the sight. Like Ophelia before her, he would not be surprised if Mei-chan had up and told her she was also secretly her long lost sister as well.
After Skadi pulled away from the Champion-level cat, feeling a little more euphoric than before (and who could blame her? Maybe it was the feelers, or the aroma her fur was somehow able to emit, who knew?), a bit of confusion crossed Kenny's face for a brief moment. That quick scan on the giant kitten and that little stunt earlier with healing Skadi's sore nose all pointed fingers at her at being quite the support and medic... but then again, another idea hit Kenny's head, as a knowing smile came on his face.
"Actually, now that you mention it, we did go on our own little trial before we were allowed to join KIZNA, mainly to show Skadi's combat prowess, and to make a long story short, she passed with flying colours." He mentioned, making the Valaismon giggle happily in unbridled giddiness, "I'm more than sure that when you guys meet up with Yuuki and show them what you're capable of, Mei-chan, I'd bet you'd knock it out of the park yourself, what with your spying abilities and healing abilities. Because, and let's not lie to ourselves, both of them make for very good abilities. Especially when compared to my unsubtle loudmouth brute of a partner." He glanced down to his partner.
Needless to say, she didn't hesitate to lightly slug him for that remark, "Oh come on, Kenny, you know I'm the master of subtly!" She playfully boasted, puffing out her chest, with her tongue firmly stuck in cheek.
"...Literally one of your attacks consist of letting out powerful, ear-splitting shockwave bleats that disorient opponents." Her chest merely deflated in defeat, and her arms went limp in mock protest. After letting out another chuckle, he turned back to the 2 other girls, "So, whattdya say? Sound good?"

Oh well, if they're going to come that hard at her, then what can she do? She's still not sure about this, but she guess they do have some points in some way.
"Well, t guess that's fine, but... I have to say, that tactic might work with me, but you should prooobably not come too strongly at someone like that, you two," Mei commented with a smile "I mean, no offense at you guys, you guys are doing your best to recruit someone who's interested and yeah, it sorta work, but maaaybe turn down the praises a bit? It's a bit like you guys are... being too much of a beauty salesperson, and that's not the best way to go at the recruiting people.
Oh, and don't sell yourself too short. There are people who are good at what they do. Also, if you want to sell about a team, it's best to... talk about things that would interest someone rather than shooting randomly like that... Praise both side of the human and Digimon rather just one of them!"
"Mei, Mei think Mei is too passionate."
"Eh!? I did? Ah, I'm sorry, I can't help but to get like that at times, I'm sorry, I don't meant anything bad by it!"
Either way, Mei the Meicoomon stood up and cleans herself some. "Mei is nothing without Mei, Mei only got this strong because Mei gives Mei's life a reason to be. So don't say "Mei's skill alone would be enough". A partnered Digimon is incomplete without their partner... Mei think you two knows, but..."
She papped Kenny then Skadi's cheeks
"Have more faith, Mei~"

Was Kenny honestly really trying too hard to convince the two Mei's to join KIZNA? It was clear the young man, despite all the improvements he had made over the last few months when it came to socialising with others, still had a long way to go on that end. Despite the human Mei delivering kind, constructive criticism, he could feel his conscious gnawing away at him slowly, by practically screaming at him like if he and Skadi just committed bloody murder right then and there.
Yes, the human Mei did make a lot of good points to Kenny, but at the same time, he couldn't help but feel a little guilty. After all, he was trying his hardest to represent KIZNA the best he could, but it was clear he needed a little bit more help when it came to vocalising himself. Only now did he realise he was pretty much going overboard with complimenting/praising the Meicoomon, while paying not much heed to the human herself... kind of like how he would often praise Skadi and whatever other Digimon did and leave himself out of the equation for the terrible, absolutely awful crime of being a powerless walking bag of meat.
All of this was further compounded by the Meicoomon Mei pointing out that both tamer and Digimon were important in a good duo; just the Digimon alone just wouldn't cut it. As she said that, Kenny's eyes glanced down to his D-Nexus in his palms, then to Skadi, who was looking up on him while her arm was on his leg, giving him a nod. Was he honestly downplaying the human in the relationship? That was probably going to hang over him for a good while.
The reassuring pap on the cheek that he and Skadi received from the Meicoomon Mei did put a smile on his face, at least. He merely gave a kind nod to the fluffy cat, "Yeah, you're right. I guess I do need a little bit more faith in us as tamers. I've never really did give much heed to it before, considering that all I've only seen myself as nothing more than just an easy target for the more dangerous threats." He explained, his mind going back to the Arkadimon incident and his own actions back in Golden Week, while he rubbed his arm, "Sorry about that, you's two."
"Honestly Kenny, Mei's right." She added, "When it comes to our own partnership, at least, you don't give yourself enough credit. I don't think I'd be able to do a lot of things without you. I just wish you stopped downplaying yourself and everything you did. Because I wouldn't be able to do it without you."
Looking down on his partner, Kenny nodded at her as well, "You're right. I'll try not to downplay myself for now on." Honestly, it would be much easier said than done for him to shake off this own irritating self-stigma, but at least he was gonna try. He turned back to the two girls, "Like I said, sorry about that. I've still been trying to derust and improve my social skills ever since I've moved here. And, considering my efforts today, I guess I still have some ways to go." He gave a quick, awkward chuckle. All the while, another thought hit his mind; Was the perfectionist inside of him trying to take control of his mental health?

"So Kenny saw himself as a... person to be protected, no, something like a dead weight, was it?" Mei thte Meioomon asked. There's something in her eyes that seem to trying to probe for his intent. It also contained a great sadness. "...Cats, you know... they tend to not want to die around their loved person. Cats... tends to want to die alone. Mei doesn't get why, but it might because the feeling that they might be a burden or something... Perhaps they can guess when they will die and such...
But Mei think... that's both selfless and selfish. By removing yourself from equation, or thinking that you're burden to your family, or important person, you're hurting their feeling. Nobody want to hear from their loved one something like "I'm burdening you, so you should just leave me alone", or in Kenny's case... Kenny taking out himself from the equation.
Ironically, Mei think that makes Kenny sounded like Kenny overly thinking about how awesome Digimons are and in reverse thinks that humans are nothing. But you know, we're awesome because for Kenny and the rest of the humans because Kenny and the rest are not Digimon. When you're Digimon, when you're not the other person, it's so easy to overlook your own strength and overpraises the other.
Digimons doesn't have as bright mind as Kenny and the rest, especially as a Child stage. Our mental age fluctuates with evolution. That's why we need someone stable: You guys. You're covering a lot of area we're weak at.... It's sad if you guys think that you're just dead weights... It's sad if you guys think that you guys are replaceable..."
The Meicoomon gently pulled the human and the Digimon's hands, then touches them together.
"To Skadi, there's only one Kenny. For Kenny too, there is only one Skadi. You can't think that you're replaceable... Sure maybe there are ways to sever that bond, but..." she looked at both the Valaismon and the human "...do you really want that? There's no one perfect... but for you two, Mei felt that Kenny felt Skadi is perfect, and Skadi felt Kenny is perfect, despite all the shortcomings... isn't that true?"

Kenny could only nod sadly as Mei the Meicoomon pointed out the cold, hard, and very unpleasant, truth to him; yes, he did see himself as a dead weight. Especially since, technically, he wasn't a super-powered alien in a world where he felt like he couldn't go 5 steps without running into one, and to him, without the powerful and skilled Skadi by his side, he was nothing more than a sitting duck for more hostile Digimon to tear limb by limb.
But, something Mei also said had started to resonate with inside him and Skadi; as a Tamer, he was responsible for making Skadi powerful in the first place. He thought back to his training with Ryouta, how his excitement of the moment was the push he needed to help trigger Skadi's evolution in a spur of the moment. And that wasn't even accounting for the moments he contributed to saving the day in some way, like helping to pacify and comfort Nise Agumon Hakase when all Hell threatened to break loose. As his eyes glanced over to Skadi, the Valaismon smiled at him once more and nodded in agreement.
Geeze, maybe Mei-chan here is right, Kenny started to think to himself, trying not to cry, I have been a little too hard on myself for quite a while now. I won't lie, I'm a little jealous of you Digimon, what with all your amazing powers, and the like, and I'm just a fleshy meatbag. ...maybe that's why I've been downplaying myself in comparison to you guys. Maybe I've just mentally conditioned myself all my life that I was inferior to everyone else around me, including my own partner, of all people.
He was so enveloped in his little epiphany that he failed to notice that Mei-chan had grabbed onto his hand, and Skadi's as well, much to the Valaismon's surprise, "Hm? Mei-chan, what're you doing-" She'd get her answer pretty quickly as the Meicoomon quickly make them touch their hands together, quickly snapping Kenny out of his brief train of thought in a matter of moments to turn his attention back to Mei-chan, as did Skadi as the Meicoomon continued on with her speech.
Was Mei-chan right? Were neither side of the relationship actually replaceable, human or Digimon? Briefly, his mind went back to the duo's very first meeting, where his split second decision to satisfy his curiosity changed his life forever. While their relationship was indeed very odd to the average outsider, and yes, both of them were imperfect individuals, but, at the end of the day, despite all their flaws and shortcomings, the duo were perfect for one another.
Even after Mei-chan let go after she made them touch tips, neither Kenny nor Skadi dared to move their hands away from one another. But already tears were forming in Kenny's eyes. At a lost for words, Kenny simply nodded in agreement with Mei-chan in regards to the 'perfect' comment. Despite all this, Skadi's smile never faltered, despite her tamer... no, friend's feelings, as she gave Kenny a reassuring nod as well.
Truth be told, Kenny often found it a little harder to talk when he was upset for any reason. Perhaps the frogs in his throat decided this would be a good time to rear their ugly heads once more.

Well, with that sorted out, Mei the Meicoomon smiled and paps both human and Digimon with her feeler. Skadi on the cheek and Kenny on the leg. "Have faith. None of you two are lacking as long as you have one another. You're not chosen alone. Both of you are chosen together, you know? Kenny isn't the only chosen... Skadi is too. You're bonded by thread of fate that linked your life together"
Well that aside though... Mei the human gave the two her handkerchief. "Do you need some time after Mei-chan's little encouragement?" Mei asked. "I know it might hit hard, but... well, what can I say... Mei-chan has been so patient with trying to meet me for seven years. By standard of Digital World, she's forty nine years old, pretty much!"
"Mei is not a grandma though," Mei interjected.
"Yes, yes, you're not a grandma. You're a caring Oneechan aren't you, Mei-chan~"
"Mei~"
Well then... "...Well then, will you two be alright? What would you like to do next then?"
