Special Ingredient Hunt 1: "Bottle Peppers" [Tetsu]

Max might not like to eat it raw, but Tetsu just popped a cluster to his mouth and chews on it. "Tastes like traditional medicine, not bad," he commented. "Might bring some to the doctors, maybe they're interested in its fatigue relieving properties. Need to chew quite a lot for me, though... so I think it's better if it's not eaten raw."
Gryz meanwhile also chewing another. "Mmm, I feel this one is nice when dried and used for tea. Add lemon to it, and it'll be a nice, refreshing energy drink."
"With Scallion or chives hint?" Tetsu joked.
"If you don't quite like it, can always add honey," Gryz countered, smiling. "Stringy grass seem to have anti-inflammation properties too. It's good for fever."
"This talk made me wonder if we can use it together with egg and just... you know, pan fry it?"
"Hmm, like scallion scrambled egg?"
"Yeah! Totally like that!"
"Maybe we can try later. For the meantime, let's continue. Max seem quite excited, heh."
And thus they continued. Gryz seem to be on the lookout for the more watery part of the place. Upon noticing some body of water, Tetsu grinned. He quickly took out... some sort of fishing rod? He put a piece of meat and tossed it to the water.
"You know it's hard to fish while I'm moving like this, right?"
"But at least you're walking slowly, Gryz, so it'll be like the bait is moving..." Tetsu tugs the rod, making the bait looks like it's alive. After few tugs, it looks like he got a hit! The boy quickly stood on the bear's back and attempt to reel the fish.
"Weee might get something nice, Max! By the way, Digi Catfishes are dangerous! They can hit you with their whiskers, and it'll definitely wound you! Also, they're carnivores, these bunches..."

Tetsu remarked that it tasted like traditional medicine. Max shrugged at that. "Well, I'm a chef, not a doctor, so, if this stuff's got good medical properties, all power to it and hope it makes people healthy." was all he could reply to that.
Gryz remarked that it could work as a tea too. Max could see that. "Yeah... I've had worse herbal teas than this, if it works for some people, I can see it catchin' on."
Then they brainstormed some more and had the suggestion of combining eggs with this. This made the Impmon-X even more excited at the possibilities. "Oh yeah! Combine this with eggs and it'd make a pretty sweet omelette, add some more spices and peppers, bit of salt, could be a neat snack."
They then continued along the path by another riverway, and Tetsu brought out a fishing rod, hoping to hook a good catch on the way. "Oh boy, this'd be an awesome day if we get some fish in the bargain too..." Max said, grinning. "Although I can't use ice techniques like my dad yet, so we'll have to cook it quickly to see what it tastes like."
Before long, it seemed Tetsu got a bite. He warned that the fish around here were particularly nasty. "Alright! Just pull it above the water and I'll finish it off." Max said, bracing himself to aim a fire spell that would quickly end the misery of the fish and render it good for preparation.
Max was by now quite familiar with how to properly prepare fish for cooking. It was a delicate job, but Flawizarmon had made him practice enough that he felt confident enough in it. So assuming Tetsu could reel it in, Max would attempt to handle the rest, eager to see just how tasty this fish was.

"Hmmm, indeed you're not a doctor but a chef, but I feel it's also important to learn the properties of the ingredients," Gryz commented. "Surely you're familiar with nutrition content? It's similar to that, really. On top of knowing the nutrients, you know what the effects of them directly toward the body. Then again I'm not sure how much chefs really interested in medicinal cooking."
"How about you?" Tetsu asked.
"I only learned a bit, and it's mostly just to satisfy my curiosity is all."
Later on, Tetsu thankfully managed to reel in the fish. It's... huge. nearly as long as the boy is tall, with about a head difference. It's also quite fat... yes, this is a wild Digi-Catfish alright! Gryz' eyes widened from the sheer size of the catch. He guess there are not that many predators of it around here, thus causing it to get this huge. The fish collided with Max' fireball, which definitely ended its life rather quickly... good to cook.
"Put this on the net," Tetsu told Max. "We can probably just stop around here too to cook. I'm going to catch some more... but anyway, uh... if you know how to remove the earthy smell, do tell me."
"Right, the earthy, swampy smell is very...thick in fishes like these, so pay caution to those." Gryz commented. "I have some Energy Lemon if you want for some rubs."

True, Max should probably know more about nutrition than he did. "I guess. I was told that 'if it tastes good, it's good for ya', but, yeah, I should probably learn more about this stuff. I know of vitamins and minerals, but, don't really get how they work yet." Another thing he should learn if he was going to be a good chef.
Catching the catfish was successful. Max's Firestrike attack ended its struggle quickly, and, more importantly, bloodlessly. That would solve the main problem.
"First step is to bleed 'em out." Max said. "Ya do this by suspending it over the ground, then cut its tail off... lessee... ah, that'll do." Max pointed to a mangrove tree nearby. Using the feline agility he had inherited from his fathers, he jumped up to it, looped a hook around an overhanging branch, then would ask Gryz to get the fish on the hook so it was hanging in the air. Following that, Max leapt down, then cut the fish's tail off, its data bleeding out of it.
"Wait a few minutes, then the next step is skinning." Max continued. He'd then cut just below the fish's head, then deftly pulled the skin off as carefully as he could, taking care not to take some valuable meat off either. "Then cut off some fillets, then, here we go..." the Impmon-X revealed the white fish fillet, ready to cook. However, he declined the request to cook it here at first. "Not yet. Tell ya what. We find those peppers and get to some civilization for some extra ingredients, and I will cook you the best catfish you have ever tasted." he promised. His stomach then growled at the least opportune moment. "Well... I suppose I can fry some of this stuff up quickly if ya want it plain." he guessed. The catfish was huge after all, there was plenty for the three of them over several meals.
Still, best keep the meat fresh. "Ya got some ice?" he asked. If not, he had ways of making his own. The fillets should be kept cool at least if they were going to be here more than a few hours.

"Indeed, that's important. A great chef cook delicious meal for their customers, but a caring, great chef would know what's the best for their consumer. For example, allergic information. I don't think Digimons have that much of allergy, but knowing what's inside the meal would be great. Nutritionist knowledge are very important when your customer need a special diet. It's probably less required when you're a restaurant chef, but a personal chef always have to know the nutrition amount in their food," Gryz surmised.
Tetsu chuckled when Max said it's probably best to cook later, but he instead feel hungry. Gryz merely smiled. "So then Max? Would you like to test my meal instead? Maybe you can give me tips of what to add, and we can save the catfish for later."
"We don't have ice," Tetsu sadly commented "...but we do have Infini-store. It pretty much kept whatever inside to be the same as before in freshness."
"Thus I guess it's more useful," Gryz commented. "Well then? Shall we just sit somewhere?"
To avoid blocking the traffic, Gryz instead raised a platform of earth where Tetsu can continue fishing while the two doing whatever they want. Gryz first took out his dish.
"I cooked this with tribe from the southern tropics. It's grilled lobster seasoned with several spicy herbs, a bit of lemon zest, with a bit of spicy honey sauce. I feel it's not bad at all, but a professional chef might say otherwise."
Meanwhile, Tetsu continue to catch more and more fish... and getting some crayfish sometimes.

Allergies... Max's uncovered green eye widened at that word. He had never encountered such a case before, but he had heard about it. Especially now that humans were dining in Rosewood very frequently too.
"Never contaminate your food benches, Max." Chef Flawizarmon had instructed him. "It may seem clean at first, but, ingredients that can be heaven for some can be hell for others. Never take that risk. And I'm telling you seriously, boy. If you ever serve a customer a meal that kills them, I will make you suffer for it. So listen carefully. Nuts, Gluten, Shellfish, Meat product. You know exactly what you put into the meals you're giving them down to the last. Because I will sooner kill than spare a digimon that claims to be my apprentice that poisons a digimon or human that eats the food he has prepared. Do you understand?"
"...Yes, I understand." were the only words Max could say in response to that. That was in his early days as an apprentice to Chef Flawizarmon. The Impmon-X shook his head as he brought his consciousness back to the present.
When he was brought back to the 'now' timeline, Max listened to what Gryz said, asking for instructions on how to cook currently. It seemed that the meal was on the cooking line to prepare the food now.
"Oh geez... alright." Max responded, rubbing his chin as he fidgeted from discomfort of all this. Without all of his intended ingredients, he had no way of preparing this dish to perfection as he wanted. But, he took a deep breath to calm himself. So therefore he would simply gather the information needed to create a good dish for his friends. And since with his current apparatus, Max could not cook, but Tetsu and Gryz could, the Impmon-X was prepared to let them handle this step.
Max sat down on a mangrove stump as Tetsu and Gryz prepared the meal ahead. He listened to the explanation. The Impmon-X nodded.
"Lobster, lemon, spice, honey, good combination there." he answered. "Just as long as you don't spoil it with one ingredient overpowering the other, well... from what I've met of you so far, you guys seem responsible enough to know how to cook. Can I please have a taste?"
With that, Max would take a taste-test of the food given to him. And, frankly, it was damn good. These guys knew their stuff.

"Sure sure, we still have a lot stored in our Infini-Store. I know it sounded nonsensical, but thanks to the storage system build in it, it can stay fresh for a long time... I know that chefs prefer to serve food piping hot from the kitchen, but let's just treat these as something like a picnic food shall we?"
Gryz obviously handed the food over after he said his piece. He took another one... and Max would see that he apparently labeled his foods with their date, perhaps it's something that he does to test freshness of the food. The one that he gave to Max obviously have today as the date. It was pre-cooked though.
"Say, what else available here again?" Tetsu asked.
"Mushrooms here probably doesn't taste all that good, but I heard there are species of grains that grows further deeper. They're like rice, except apparently they tastes more vinegar-y."
"Interesting... I wonder if that means we can make some sushi without needing to adding vinegar and sake... I'm interested on that one too. What do you think, Max? Do you think that it can be added to your green curry, or would it tastes nasty combined?"
"Well we won't know without testing, right?" and Tetsu just gotten his fifth Digi-Catfish. "...I think five is enough isn't it?" Just as he was about to stop there, suddenly something strong pulled him in. The boy let out a yelp as he fell in the water.
"TETSU!"
Gryz quickly goes in the mud to his rescue.

Max was intrigued by the idea of the infini-store. "Well, as long as it keeps ingredients fresh and with no chance of cross-contamination, as a chef in training, I'd endorse that system." he said with a grin.
The moment Max saw the labels on the ingredients with the information and the date, he fully trusted Tetsu and Gryz. "You guys are really responsible cooks... you've even indicated that they've been pre-cooked too. Well, I might not be my dad Coronamon yet, but, I'd hire you for my restaurant if I had one." he finished with a grin.
The Impmon-X listened in for what further ingredients could be discovered here in this area. Strong tasting rice sounded like an interesting further ingredient for him to test. After all, many of his rice recipes just tasted too bland, and were too easily overspoiled by salt and pepper. A rice grain that was full of flavour from the start? That sounded pretty good.
"That sounds like the ideal type of rice actually..." Max admitted. "As long as it's not too bitter, sounds like a great foundation to the curry that I intend on cooking."
After all this time, Max had failed to notice that Tetsu had been catching more catfish after all this time and storing them in his infini-store. This was initially some fantastic news, but it seemed the last fish had got the best of him, pulling the boy into the bayou.
"Oh! Crap!" Max cried, leaping to his feet, but hesitating at the last step of land between him and the swamp. Max was a very poor swimmer, and knew he would be helpless in the task of pulling Tetsu and Gryz out of there with his own strength alone. Initially he wanted to run for help, but knew that this part of the swamp was sparsely inhabited.
"God... I'm so sorry... I can't swim... I'm so scared..." he whimpered as he struggled to find out a way to help his friends. If he just flung himself out there, he'd drown and be no use to them at all... but... if only there was a way for him to use his magic to help them.
There might be a way, but Max wasn't sure if he was yet ready to use it. For now, he hoped that Gryz would be able to save Tetsu in this situation. If not... well... he'd have to see what powers he held in reserve.

"Hmmm, yeah that's indeed one of the concern of using the infini-store. Technically you can just store it normally, without any container whatsoever, but apparently people has been very concerned about cross contamination albeit it's stored at... you know, a state of stasis... The other concern is that taking a single item one by one will be taking too much time, so they decided to store it in containers. Easier that way. As long as it's not bigger than a bike I think people can easily stuff something in there."
Gryz just chuckled at what Max said. "Well, thing is I'm very picky about what to put in my stomach. It also works as experiment to question whether the stasis is working or not, but I'm flattered that you'd love to hire me for your restaurant, heh."
Gryz shook his head when Max wondered whether it's too bitter.
"Ever heard of Shari, the sushi rice? Report said it have similar taste to that, sort of."
When Max is panicking, Gryz just said a quick "STAY THERE" at him. He don't want him to risk himself if he's not used to it after all. It takes about thirty seconds, neither the bear and the boy was out, but thankfully, Tetsu soon resufraced, coughing. His body all muddy, making him mutter out 'yuck' in disgust.
...And Gryz soon after, but not alone. In fact, he's hoisting what looks like a dead fish, but it's not a normal fish either. It's as long as three meters, and is honestly as wide as Tetsu is. That explains the pull... but this must be the Digi Pirarucu

Max froze when Gryz told him to stay put. Damn it... like his parents he was a mon for action, not waiting, but, what else could he do here? As the seconds ticked by, he grew more and more anxious. Rope? Maybe he should find rope? But... he wasn't nearly strong enough to pull them out like that.
He then looked at the water... could he... maybe use his magic to manipulate it like he could manipulate fire? He attempted... using the same sort of movement he did when using his fire magic techniques, only thinking 'cool, wet' instead of 'hot, burn' and... nothing happened.
Thirty seconds passed, and just before Max began to really panic and think his friends had drowned, they resurfaced, very wet and muddy.
Max quickly rushed to their aid as they stepped back on the bank, making sure both Tetsu and Gryz were fine, before he noticed the giant fish that Tetsu was holding. He looked up in awe, his mouth visible from where it was usually hidden behind his scarf.
"It's... beautiful." he breathed. Not even Flawizarmon had seen something like this, only had seen faint photographs. "Better put it into the infini-store as it is, I don't think I can prepare that out here." he said to the others. "Really, you guys okay? You don't need..."
"Is that what I think it is?!" a sharp voice suddenly cut through the bayou. Max immediately turned to see three shadowy figures through the misty bogland. They were approaching. He stood on guard, but lowered it slightly when he saw that they were only three child levels. One was a BlackGabumon, the second, a Dracomon, and the third, a Lunamon. The BlackGabumon continued. "It is... a Digi Pirarucu... oh my, it's the most beautiful fish I have ever seen! I must have it!"
"Well, tough, we found it first." Max replied, not liking this turn of events. The BlackGabumon scoffed at him, but looked quite serious as his yellow eyes locked with his own green one.
"Very well, name your price." the pelted reptilian answered. Max relaxed a little, it seemed that this digimon was willing to play fair.
"My friends nearly drowned gettin' this baby out of the water, I don't think you can pay up what it's worth for us." Max replied, in a less hostile, but still in a firm voice. The BlackGabumon scowled.
"Hmph. I know you." he said, looking Max up and down. "Tatty purple fur, green eye, white belly. You're Bellamy's son aren't you?"
"So what if I am?" Max asked, folding his arms.
"So it means you think you're a big-and-upcoming chef worthy of your other dad Coronamon, eh?" BlackGabumon continued. Max scowled at this. "I think I can do better. That Pirarucu would be wasted with you fumbling in the dark with your novice skills. It takes experience to bring out the full potential of this legendary ingredient!"
Max was taken aback by this, but then turned his scowl into a competitive grin. "So... is that a challenge?" he asked.
"Correct!" BlackGabumon cried, drawing a chef's knife from a belt he wore around his waist, but proceeded no further with it. "Impmon-X Maximus! I challenge you to a cook-off, right here, right now, to prove who is worthy of cooking that Digi Pirarucu!!"
"Actually my full name's Maximillian, but that's beside the point." Max replied, still having his arms folded. "What's at stake for you, eh? We got the Pirarucu, what do you have?"
"This." the BlackGabumon replied, clicking his fingers. The Dracomon put a mat on the muddy ground, while the Lunamon revealed an infini-store of their own, and there, before their very eyes, were several of the legendary Bottle Peppers, along with samples of seeds and saplings. Max's green eye widened. The peppers even glowed with just how valuable they were. That was exactly what they were looking for here!
Against more careful advice, Max revealed his own chef's knife, then crossed it with BlackGabumon's. "I accept your challenge!" he declared. What pride would he have as a chef if he declined? If BlackGabumon was better than him, then so be it. But he knew that he'd be greater than these upstarts.
"But first, we need impartial judges." Max added quickly. "Where should we-" he then immediately noticed that they were surrounded by dozens of hungry native baby and child level bayou digimon, overhearing this very anime kind of challenge and seemed eager for food. "...also we need ingredients." he added, trying not to break his stride.
"Well, it just so happens that we have a nice juicy catfish that we caught earlier." BlackGabumon stated, Lunamon revealing the fillets from his infini-store. "And I can't help but smell that you have too. So, the challenge is thus. Whoever can cook the best catfish dish within an hour shall win both the Bottle Peppers and the Pirarucu!"
At this point, Max turned to Tetsu and Gryz, wondering what they made of all this. If they would rather turn it down and proceed to find their own peppers, it was down to them. It was their risk and effort that had caught the fish in the first place.
"Seriously, guys, if you don't wanna do this..." Max muttered to them, indicating he was totally okay if they weren't alright with this.

Gryz wanted to say that it's OK for Max to not care about the incoming trio, that he should not care about what they said, but he guess pride is a thing that runs deep in Bellamy's family. Still, he guess he can just catch another Digi Pirarucu anytime he want. Due to the size however (it's bigger than a bicycle), it's impossible for them to put it inside Infini-Store. With that being said...
Tetsu decided to instead took some herbs and covers the fish in it. He also made sure to dry it some. Like this, they can get the fish stay fresh for a bit while. The herbs also does not taste like anything... As extra measure, Tetsu opened a portal to Ys, where Gryz hollered at some worker to bring a huge container filled with ice. After that done, the two put the fish inside.
"Well, we're no one to stop you there... plus we believe in your cooking ability... Actually, should I help?" Gryz asked.
Tetsu meanwhile... after finishing the items looked at the other side. They looked like they got the best kind of fishes, but... As a farmer, he won't lose.
"So using all sort of ingredients are fine, right?"
Tetsu pulled a table from his infini-store, then with a tap of on his infini-store, the contents revealed, floating in suspended animation in what looked like a sphere of air.
"Max, I'm not a good cook, but you got my support on my freshest, best veggies, fruit and even seasonings. Those that floats inside this infini-store are ones that I handpicked to be the best of the best as sample for teaching tribes about importance of best ingredients! There are also number of exotic stuff inside, so don't be afraid and use it to your heart contents!"

Max was glad when Tetsu and Gryz said they were fine with going along. While the Pirarucu was too big to fit in the infini-store, thanks to Tetsu's links to Ys, it was well preserved for the time being. Even BlackGabumon agreed.
"Very well. For an Impmon you're pretty honorable I must say." he said, when Max seemed to be playing along.
"Yeah, well, could say the same to you as a BlackGabumon." Max replied. "Besides, I'll gain from this whatever happens. If you beat me, I'll know I need to work harder to improve. If I win, well, I got the ingredients I came here for."
"My thoughts exactly." the BlackGabumon said, and to this, Max smiled. He realized he was pretty much talking to a digimon with the same goals as him. And on that level, they understood each other.
But first, one of them would have to prevail. With the cook-off set up here in the middle of the bayou, the BlackGabumon quickly conferred with his comrades what they should do here with their catfish. And Max would do the same with Tetsu and Gryz.
"Okay... I'm thinkin' that we should probably play to the crowd here." Max muttered to the human and bear digimon. "This is the Backup Bayou, and I think they like it spicy around here... but we gotta avoid makin' it too spicy so they don't enjoy it. So I'm thinkin'... pan-fry the catfish with olive oil, add some mild red peppers, complete it with garlic, ground pepper, cumin, ginger, cilantro..." he thought of what else went well with fish. "Lime! You got lime? If not, lemon would do but oh man, if you have lime that'd be perfect..." and a final thought came to him from a passing tip from Flawizarmon that he remembered. "Sunflower seeds. I think that'll work well if you have 'em."
With that, the cook was on. BlackGabumon and his team got to work on their dishes, while Max got to work on his. Being able to conjure fire at will made cooking rather a spectacular thing - namely that Max could simply hold the skillet in one hand while heating it with the other. BlackGabumon had more trouble with this since he could only conjure fire by breathing it out.
Before long, delicious aromas soon spread around the area, making the native digimon eager to judge what tasted the best. And neither party was holding back in the amount either - there would be plenty to go around.

Well, looks like Max decided what to do. Gryz have to be standby as the sous-chef it sounds like and for Tetsu, that's alright. He'll be the picker for the ingredients. Tetsu looked at the available items. Of course his Infini-store is full of ingredient from all over the Digital World, and not in small degree either. Tetsu always have this policy to stock at least a small crate worth of ingredient for his raw foods. He would generally get three by rule, and if it's less than one crate, he will refill, or order a refill before that. Very good ingredients and staple could be about five or ten crate each. Here, his tendency to watch out for what he have to buy and restock... definitely becomes an edge.
"If you want slightly pepper I got something like serrano and cayenne, I also got some digital world specific that's like a slow burn, perfect for full spice dishes. It's the kind that's numbing, but more to pleasure rather than pain... here you go, I think these five fits the bill. ground pepper, cumin, cilantro, ginger as per your request, I picked those that are good and guaranteed to be fresh. If you need the more intense smelling one do tell. Lime here too, I got about five kinds with different acidity, and sunflower seeds, anything else?"
Well, that's the head of Ys farming. He might be a bit inexperienced, but he knows his stuff enough.
"Tetsu got nice tongue," Gryz would say, smiling proudly. "But thing with him is that he's still too young to cook, he... I think human calls it hormone imbalance? He got it. That's why he's bulky for his age, on top of apparently something regarding his muscle growth inhibitors are low, but... as a side effect, he's pretty hyper, and really impatient at times. He however been trying hard to be more patient because he's going to be a big brother soon. Got a little sister to take care of, so I guess that makes him more patient than usual lately. But he's good. Anyway, tell me what should I do mate?"
Gryz whipped out a hand sanitizer and washes his paws. He immediately goes to help whatever was needed. Being an earthbender have its perk too. Mainly, he can elevate a piece of earth and put his cutting board on and it'll stay stable.
DId the Black Gabumon think he can win this so easily? Part of him also got fired up. These guys are challenging them for a prize they rightfully owned. Noooo can do.

Max furrowed his eyebrows as he pondered what degree of spice to use here. "Nah, Serrano and Cayenne are too much I reckon, little bit too stingy that not everyone might like." he replied to Tetsu. "That last one though, can I have a taste?" that was the best way to test it.
Once Max had a nibble of the slow-burn pepper that Tetsu mentioned, inspiration filled him at once. "Oh yeah, this is the stuff!" he exclaimed, delighted. After all, this was the type of pepper in the same category as the Bottle Peppers he had come here for. He then took his pick of the other ingredients Tetsu presented. The Impmon-X worked almost as though he was in a trance - like an artist struck with inspiration for the perfect painting. He was delighted that Tetsu had so many different types of ingredients to offer, he selected what he thought was the best, like the artist picking their colours.
However, he took care to communicate as best as he could with Tetsu and Gryz. As the cooking began and Max told his instructions - in the moments of waiting, he listened patiently to Gryz explaining about Tetsu's quirks. Max did so while carefully frying the seasoned catfish.
"Ohh, you're about to have a little sister?" he asked, excitedly. He wouldn't mind one of those. He had an older sister, although the few times he met Gaz, she had more fun rubbing his fur the wrong way than he did in the overall experience. But she was still family and looked out for him, so on the whole he didn't mind. "Also, huh... I don't know much about hormones with humans, but sounds like Tetsu's got a tough gig there. But he's done good with me so far so I'm happy to do what I can to support."
Gryz then asked how he could help. Max instructed him at once. "Okay, this needs a mortar and pestle. I need you to crush the peppers, garlic, lime, ginger and cumin until it's a puree. Don't add the cilantro until later."
The idea was to prepare the raw sauce here. Cooking the cilantro would ruin the flavour. As for the sunflower seeds, Max was lightly toasting them as much as he could while searing the fish.
Meanwhile, BlackGabumon and his team were creating what appeared to be a crispy fried catfish recipe that smelled absolutely delicious. It took all of Max's efforts to ignore it as he tried to create masterpiece of his own with Tetsu and Gryz.

"Here," Tetsu answered to Max's request and passed him a yellow colored pepper, shaped like a dried mini tomato. "If you want one that's in paste shape, here," he put down a jar with the pepper already in paste form. The consistency is also good enough.
"Yeah, but that's still a while I think," Tetsu replied. I heard she'll be born in few more months... well, real world wise. Over here it would be several years.
"Tetsu, mortar and pestle," Gryz requested, to which Tetsu brings out a mortar and pestle... quite big one at that, and puts it on the earthen table. Gryz easily operates it. Using small one is good and all, but he prefer the big one to make puree. It's easier, and it gives him more spaces to put in enough amount. Gryz works fast either way.
"Hmm, fried catfish," Tetsu muttered "I wonder if they can neutralize the muddy flavor enough... Some types of catfishes are very fatty and somehow their fats carries the taste of mud... Frying them, hmmm.."
"Haven't we tasted one, Tetsu?" Gryz commented.
"Yeah, and it was absolutely divine! Come to think of it, it tastes similar like eel... I want to eat some eel now."
Gryz laughed and handed the pureed seasoning to max. "Here bud. Let's make sure that we won this one. Ain't going to let that guys win that easily, heh!"
