"Heh, no problem, ya tyke."
"Be more careful with how you open doors, hun - don't want you getting stuck on your back again!"
They gave a smile, and as the Viximon would see herself off, the two parents would go back to figuring out their finances for the next few weeks. It didn't take long for the small incident today to just become another background memory: over the next few weeks, they would teach the Viximon more and more about how to handle herself, control her little fox fire, and even help out a bit around the house. It didn't take long for this place to start to feel like a family...
... And that didn't change when 'Vix' evolved a second time, to a white-furred Renamon. Things proceeded more smoothly from there in the coming weeks, the more-capable rookie able of helping Gazi out in the market and even helping a bit around Rosewood itself. Everything seemed to be going smoothly.
Even if their daughter was still a bit out there, sometimes.

"I'll have to push em a little more gently..."
The little viximon beamed at the two before going back into the bed. Thankfully the incident itself slid into a distant background memory. She'd learn well from her parents, how to control her little fire and help around even without hands! She loved how it felt as a family, though oddly something didn't sit right with her and she couldn't tell what it was.
Eventually when she digivolved a second time she was that white furred renamon. She'd look herself over in curiosity, she felt so odd in this form. Having hands and legs... well just were odd! She was happy to help out her father in the market and around rosewood. She was glad to be here, even if she seemed to be... out there.
Of course that out there ness would make itself known again as she was sitting in the kitchen going over some papers with a frown. Her parents had been teaching her how to read before but... she already knew how. And how to write, and how to do math, and how to do a lot of things. It was weird now that she was like this. She also had been keeping an empty journal to just idly write in with her right hand while her left quietly turned the page of the paper she was reading.
"Hmm. Everything seems okay, some problems here or there. But... Why do I feel like I should of been there?"
She'd scratch her head a little bit and look down at her journal. She had sketched something out, a key of sorts. Some symbols and... well just... A name? She picked up her journal and tilted her head.
"Dad? Mom?"
She wasn't sure if they were around, if anyone was really around at the moment. She'd blink quietly and rub at her neck, uncertain exactly. What on earth was she supposed to say about all this. If they came into the room or were home she'd address this...

But really, what family was normal? 'Rena' was a delight to have around, Gato and Gazi were getting used to this arrangement, and it seemed like everything was just going to work out in the end. As the Renamon became more independent, the parents needed to spend less time making sure that every single one of her needs was covered.
She turned out to be a smart cookie too. Reading, writing, and a journal that looked more like a ledger, at times, with the math that the fox knew how to do. Gato and Gazi were already thinking to the future, wondering just what opportunities she would take up in Rosewood.
This lazy day seemed much like the ones around it. The Gazimon was out doing a run in the human world, and the Gatomon, though home, found herself in her office working through the house's record-keeping. Her ear would flick as she heard the Renamon call out from across the house. "Hm? Coming, hun!" She clasped the book shut, stood up and stretched out her back, and made her way over to her daughter's room.
The scene looked... pretty normal to her, actually. The cat gave a blink. "Something wrong, Rena?"

Most of the ones that probably didn't get into the thick of every little thing. Or those that stayed out of the way of the worlds events and just wanted to be happy. The renamon was enjoying the fact she could be largely independent and didn't force her parents to spend time taking care of her.
The renamon nibbled on the end of her pen, staring down at the journal as she went over more of her 'notes' and writing tid bits. She didn't know what they all meant, a lot of them just coming out of no where. Thankfully she had a lot of lazy time to work on things. She didn't have her father around for the moment but once the gatomon came over she would slowly turn the journal to her mother.
"Well... I was sketching some stuff absentmindedly and uh... some of my notes n what not don't quite make sense. Do you know what these symbols mean?"
At the top of the page there was a pair of words underlined with a question-mark or two at the end.
Name: Silence?
The notes and symbols that she had drawn up were actually from when she had been an egg! Except for one of them, it was the symbol that her prior self had on their arm at almost all times. That symbol of jesmon, she didn't know where it came from and she'd huff lightly.
"And... other than that not really. When is dad coming back? I thought we were going to do market stuff today..."

Hm? Her journal?
Seeing the Renamon show the book to her, Gato carefully took it in hand, looking at those frankly bizarre markings her daughter managed to scratch up. Was this also something from a prior life? It took the cat a moment - but she eventually would point at a few symbols in particular.
"Let's see... that one means 'Dragon', and this one means 'Power'." The cat scrunched up her nose. "We occasionally see them at some festivals celebrating the old knights... speaking of, I think that's Jesmon's crest - either his or Gallantmon's, I'm not really familiar with either."
It was the first time that the Gatomon had looked at these symbols that closely. Her ear flicked as she questioned where the Gazimon was. "Oh, you know his line of work - sometimes he'll get caught up longer in the human world than he'd like to. Don't worry, he hasn't missed a check-in, he'll just be home a little later." She'd give a smile, and set the book back down.
... And then she'd simply tap at the only thing on that page written in a common language.
"Did you come up with that name yourself? Do... do you like it?"

The renamon blinked lightly as her mother explained to her what they meant. One meant dragon and another one meant power. Apperantly both of them they would see in festivals celebrating old knights. Why would she have these in her head? Why would she have Jesmon or Gallantmon's crest in her head? She'd purse her lips and stare down at the journal, her ears flicking slightly.
"Dragon... power... Jesmon or Gallantmon huh, kinda weird and lofty things to have rolling around my head."
The renamon shifted in her seat and gave a small grin to her mother. She did know his line of work, it was the fruitful kind and often he came back on time. There were cases where he didn't but he hadn't missed a check in so that meant no panicking!
"All right, well hopefully we can have dinner on for him when he gets back..."
The renamon paused however when the other tapped on her journal page. The renamon bit her lower lip lightly and slowly nodded her head.
"I ahd been thinking about one for a while and this one just... kept coming up and I think it's fitting? Maybe. I'm not the quietest individual but... it just seems right. I do like it! I didn't mind being called Rele, Vixi or Rena... But I don't know, this seems more... personal somehow."
Was she making any sense to her mother? She couldn't really tell, the renamon span her pen around in her fingers staring down at the symbols. She felt like she was still missing something entirely...
"What about that key thing? Like. Seven prongs and what not. Awfully specific for something just out of my head."

"I'll agree with lofty, but more strange was your ability to write them down without knowing what they are..."
The cat gave a sigh, not exactly sure how to pin it down. Thankfully, the conversation turned to something that she did know! "Oh, he'll be around! Last check-in he said he'd be back in about two hours or so on our time, just in time to be just a bit late for dinner." She chuckled, then tilted her head as her daughter mulled over that name.
It 'fit' - even though it didn't describe her in the slightest. "Let's see. Silence. Sigh-lence... Silence?" The cat played around with the word for a bit, then shrugged. "Well, we'll give it a try, Silence. If it doesn't fit after a day or two then we can figure something else out."
No worries really. But as for the strangest thing on that page, the cat bit her lip. "I dunno, honestly. There's libraries out in Rosewood and Terminus if you want to look at some material or something, but that's not something your dad or I would be familiar with. All I know is that this prong means 'Power'."
She gave a sigh, giving a small smile as she looked down at that page. "Though it seems we're not able to answer a lot lately, huh."

"It's kinda weird I think. I don't... really know what to make of it."
The renamon shrugged her shoulders and looked down at the book; with the shift in conversation to when her dad would be back the renamon just simply nodded. So why not make dinner a little bit later if he was going to be a touch later than usually.
"It feels right to hear in reference to myself, I don't really know why."
Silence let out a small huff and shook her head. She was pretty certain on this one and she'd lean forward to look down at the book, tracing her finger along the symbols.
"Maybe tomorrow we can go look? And that's what the prong means? Oh. Well that simplifies things."
She'd blink down at the page and then back up to her mother. There was quite a bit they weren't able to answer but that was okay. There was a lot of stuff that just simply didn't make sense that came from the fox.
"To be fair a lot of the stuff you and dad don't know how to answer is... weird stuff like this. But that's okay, there's resources to check stuff like this. Worse comes to worse we can just go to a bigger place to check it out!"
Silence grinned toothily and leaned forward, flipping the paper in half and creasing the fold. She was the last one to read today's copy so they'd just go and recycle this...
"I've also been thinkin as to what I want to do around rosewood..."

'Silence' it was then, at least for now! Gato gave a smile to her daughter, at least able to settle one thing - but as for these strange symbols, the writing and the key-figure, both Gato and Gazi would eternally be at a loss.
They weren't researchers, they weren't fans of the Knights, and they could only really concern themselves with their own family and friends. Stuff like this didn't matter that much to Silence's parents, but at the very least, the daughter understood their confusion. She gave a smile: "Honestly, it sounds like a bit of fun, digging around for all that old information. I can start to point you in the right way, but you might have to do a lot of it yourself."
With a sigh, the cat idly looked on as Silence put the daily paper in the bin, ear flicking at that last bit. "Around Rosewood? You sure you don't want to be produce smugglers like your dad and I?" The cat teased, obviously not offended that Silence would want something else for herself! "What do you have in mind?"

Silence knew her parents weren't researchers, she didn't however know that they weren't fans of the knights. She thought they were cool honestly but she did understand the reasoning for many people disliking them!
"That's okay! The best stuff is the hardest to find right?"
Silence beamed at her mother and then turned her head as the cat teased her about being a produce smuggler. The renamon felt her face flush and the daughter fidgeted just a wee bit. It would be weird of her to suggest this out of all things but.. That also felt right.
"Well... the town's guard needs new blood, not a lot of people have been signing up for it and it'll help me get better acquainted with the town. That and learn how to fight too I spose."
The renamon rubbed the back of her head a touch nervously as she knew what her parents did and well... to many that would be illegal but she didn't really see a problem with it herself.
"I mean the bar around here also needs bouncers too but... I dunno doesn't feel the same. If neither of those really... pan out there's the mission guild, they always have really good jobs."

Teasing about being a smuggler aside, the Gatomon was quite interested in what Silence thought for herself. Rosewood was a nice, peaceful town, and there was definitely a demand for work in this bustling place. That said, the cat found her ear flick as Silence mentioned what she wanted to do.
Be a town guard? Learn how to fight? Honestly, she wasn't expecting that much, the Gatomon tilting her head as she considered it. "Huh... I never figured you as much of a 'fighter', Silence. Then again, its not like Gazi or I get into that kind of stuff, so maybe you haven't been exposed to it?" They had shown the Renamon how to use her basic techniques - even finding that she had an affinity for electric channeling - but there simply wasn't a reason for her to figure out how to fight.
But it sounded like Silence put a lot of thought into it. Well, maybe. "I'm going to be honest, hearing that you want to learn how to fight doesn't really put me at ease. We can follow up with the town guard if you want, but they'll really put you through the paces. A lot of 'em get trained in the Spartan Training Grounds if they don't already know how to fight, but, um..."
Gato blinked. "Why the sudden interest?"

Honestly the renamon probably could of learned a lot about the world if she had taken the teasing route that her mother pushed forward. Sure it was a tease but it would also make sense if she followed in the footsteps of her parents. Thankfully though rosewood indeed was a bustling place now and she wasn't sure where her fate lay in this town.
"It's not really a decision I made lightly, I do want to go for it but... If you think I should go a different route I don't see why not. I mean. I have my whole life ahead of me so..."
Silence shrugged her shoulders and flicked her ears. Hearing that she wanted to learn how to fight didn't put her mother at ease? She'd bite her lip and look down at the table. She'd like to follow through with the town guard and if they put her through the paces that was fine. She had after all spent some afternoons watching the training grounds with curiosity.
"Well... uhm. You know when I sort of go off on my own during the afternoons? I tended to sit in trees and people watch. Well. When a group of people I didn't recognize came through, they were armed to the teeth and talking about the place. So I went and checked it out. After watching the place a few times I felt this... weird connection to the place, or maybe what they were doing."
Silence ran her hands through her fur and let out a little tsk, she didn't know how to really explain this. The renamon leaned forward and picked up her book, staring into the pages that held those symbols.
"There's also this... need. This incredible want to protect other's I really can't explain and a weird sense of pride when I think about me in that sort of position."

"Oh, far be it from me to try and stop you, hun. If its what you want to do, its what you should try to do."
Gato gave a nod, instilling a bit more confidence into her daughter's idea. And soon after came the reasoning, proving that it wasn't just as a whim. Rather, she liked to watch the town guard, either on patrol or through their actions, and it just sat right with her? The Gatomon didn't entirely understand, but it was clear that neither of them could really put it into words. Even that last sentence didn't even really seem to settle things.
"... Hm. If that's the case, I'd say go for it." It took the Gatomon a few seconds, but she eventually gave her answer - and with a grin, she'd give her daughter a confident pat on her back.
"Now, how about we get dinner started? Gazi's late so I'll need another hand to help me in the kitchen!"

"Thanks mom"
Silence grinned ear to ear and shifted a bit, the fact that she said go for it too? Well the renamon was quite happy with the fact; if her parents didn't mind her doing something liket his that was great! It'd let her learn a bit more about the world and it's people too rather than being cooped up in the house or just at the marketplace.
"All right, let me go get my gloves..."
If there was one thing that the family didn't need it was more fur in their food!
a few days later
Silence leaned up against a tree, rubbing at her neck softly. The last few days had been interesting, they had spoken to the town guardsmen, or the leader of which who seemed thrilled to have her. She had put in for a position and well... The last few days had been spent trying to figure out what exactly she was capable of.
From her attacks, to her durability, to where she sat in terms of endurance, how strong she was. A lot of things they needed to address, and today she was going to the spartan training grounds to spar against a few of the other trainees. She wouldn't be a full fledged guardsman any time soon but that was okay.
It'd take her maybe another five or ten minutes of walking before she got there. Her mother and father were pre-occupied with their business ventures so it was just her today. The renamon stepping through the tents, eyes flicking from fight to fight. Eventually finding the lead guardsman watching some trainee's spar together...
"Morning sir, reporting as ordered?"

No-one expected much out of Silence her first few days on the job, of course. Though Rosewood was a peaceful town, it still required a fair bit of dedication to become a guard - and even then, there was only so much that a rookie could be allowed to do. To make sure that they put her into the right role, they had to both train her and figure out her general potential.
Hence, this trip to the Spartan Training Grounds. As the Renamon approached the lead guardsman - a Sealsdramon, currently looking over a sparring match between two other champions - his mechanical eye would rest on the Renamon's posture.
"Mm." She showed up on time and addressed the guard properly, so she was given an affirming grunt. "Today will be your initial assessment, as you know. Once this fight's cleared out, you'll be sparring against a Leomon, one whose been with the guard for about a year. We're drawn thin a bit, so unfortunately we don't have another rookie to match your pace. Still, treat the fight seriously."
It didn't take long: another five minutes, the spar would be done and the dirt arena swept of debris - and on the opposite side, a Leomon would be cracking his knuckles, nodding towards the white Renamon.
"Silence, I assume?"
