"Hm?"
Well, this was definitely different than before - she took the hit, yes, but that could just be chalked up to the difference in level. But in that one span, Silence took the initiative, slid between the Leomon's legs, and even managed to slice through the inside of one of his calves. The lion grit his teeth, even feeling himself pulled back an inch as that fox pulled back at his tail.
He swung an arm around - forcing her away, as the Leomon tossed his blade off to the side.
"Alright." The Leomon cracked his neck, taking a fighter's stance, leading with his right foot. "Enough with my dagger, then... I'll take you head on, Silence."
He gave no more words past that. Clenching his fists tight, a powerful golden aura erupted around his body, before it condensed right into both of his fists, now pulsing and glowing with energy.
He was - finally - taking her seriously.

Silence jumped away from the leomon as he swung his arm back, her ears flicking as she heard him make that 'hm' again. That was the sign of something being up, something that could be annoying, irritating or frustrating. Something that could be directly related to whatever was going on at the moment, or he was pondering something.
However then he tossed his blade off to one side, the renamon's eyes flicking to watch the blade clatter on the ground. Wait he was going to take her head on? The renamon seemed surprised at the fact, almost a bit hesitant for all of a moment. The golden aura made her flinch visibly. She didn't know what that was about but... If they were really going to go at it then she supposed...
"All right then sir."
She'd take her fighting stance once more, eyes sweeping over him. He was doing something here. She didn't want to find out what exactly and with a small tsk she'd test the waters with another one of those energy waves. Just what did those fists become when imbued with energy?

What did those empowered fists do?
Exactly what he needed them to. As Silence gave another swing, the Leomon met that arc of energy with his fist, a tense and straight punch simply causing that energy blade to snap at the middle, flung over the sides of his body - but it was more than that. The energy from the shot itself would carry right over to the Renamon, like a strong gust of hot, desert wind trying to push her back. But there wasn't any special technique added to that aura.
No, that was just how strong the Leomon was at this stage.
Re-tensing his fists, the Leomon lowered his stance, using his fists to cover his chin like a boxer, before once more rushing forth to try and challenge the Renamon directly. This time, if he managed to get in close, he'd give a short, narrow, conservative punch to the fox's midsection. The Leomon seemed much more skilled as a fighter than as a swordsman: his balance was better, stance rigid, and he had very few openings. Sure, Silence might have had a blade, but if his hands could break through that energy, could it break through the saberk, too?

Silence felt her core skip a beat as she saw him with his bare hands, well energy laden hands. But still bare for the most part snap that energy wave in half. It was flung over the sides of his body and she could feel the hottness of the wind carry over her forcing her to shield herself for a moment. That was... kind of ridiculous honestly. The renamon wasn't sure what to do with the fact he could do that with his bare hands she had to figure out something!
The renamon backpedaled a bit, her eyes flicking over the other as he rushed forward. He wouldn't have any issue as before he was able to close their gaps, she maybe had a blink before that narrow punch met her midsection. That forced all of the air that she had in her to explosively come out in a surprised wheeze.
She'd stop herself from falling fully over with her energy blade as it dug into the ground. The length of it managing to keep her up. She felt the pain from the earlier strike much less now, in comparison it didn't hurt as much as the one in her stomach. The renamon's hand was at her midsection this time and her face was screwed up in pain but she was still standing if not a touch shakily...

Good.
The Leomon knew that this part of the test was unfair - but the point wasn't for Silence to find a way to combat this kind of force. Instead, it was to see how the fox reacted to being hit, and as the Leomon stepped back, he looked at her response.
She used her blade to keep herself on her feet. She only dedicated one hand to trying to cover her wounded area. And, most importantly: "You kept your eyes on me."
The Leomon gave a grin. "Many try and become a warrior, to become a part of the Town Guard - but there's a fatal flaw that many have trouble correcting. When one faces a threat they can't feel they overcome, they wince their eyes shut and brace for the pain. That momentary lack of sight - its fatal."
But Silence? He grinned: "But you don't have that flaw. Not even in our first bout... whatever ancestry you had gave you good instincts for this."

Silence gritted her teeth, ready for the next onslaught that never came. She saw the leomon step back and there was a little bit of confusion on her face. He started to talk and she relaxed only slightly, out of her hand however came a light healing aura to give her less of a painful spot later; the bruising she was going to have later... Her parents would probably be upset with.
"Well I had to see where you were coming from next."
Her voice was a touch wheezy and the renamon slowly stood up shaking her hand to let the energy blade go. So many tried to become a warrior and a town guard. That fatal flaw making it impossible for them to do so. That momentary weakening would of course prove fatal! The renamon rubbed her neck somewhat nervously as he continued. How she didn't have that flaw, not even in their first bout.
"It gave me a lot really. A lot of stuff I'm still coming to cope with. But I'm glad that it's working in my favour for this but I can't rely on it for everything can I?"
That would be dangerous as whom-ever was her ancestor eventually died for some reason or another. Some choice led to his or her death that could also affect hers. She'd rub at her snout a bit and eye the leomon's fists.
"What was that fist thing called? I've never seen anything like it."

Well, she might have some upset and proud parents later, but for now, it seemed that the spar was over. Letting the last wisps of that energy fade from his fists, he gave a grin, setting a hand right on the white Renamon's shoulder.
Of course, she had to keep her eyes on him. But it was that simple fact that caused many to fall, to fail this test in becoming part of the town guard. She already had that clout - and with her skill earned over the course of the week, she'd more than proven herself. "True. You cannot rely on it for everything - but that's why you are still learning. As for my fists... 'Pride of the Beast King'. It takes the full force of that energy and spreads it across both of my hands."
With that, though, he'd give a smile - and one more thing to say.
"Your first shift is 8:00 AM, Wednesday. Report into the station at least 1 hour before that."

Silence shifted a bit and sighed softly as she saw that energy fade from the leomon's hands. That signaled that it was over, the tenseness of her body drained and then she'd blink some as she felt that hand on her shoulder prompting the young digimon to look up.
"Well it's got... good advice I guess. Those are pretty strong if they can break energy apart like that."
Silence murmured lightly and then flicked her ears as he smiled, looking as though he had something else to add. Her first shift was 8:00 am? On Wednesday? The renamon perked up and nodded her head, looking ready and raring to go!
"Yes sir!"
Yet another week passed..
...And quite a few of her shifts went rather swimmingly, it wasn't a really difficult job and the renamon was enjoying some of the benefits fully. Getting to know those around the town, being able to see more of it. Talking to people, even getting to know how folks came or went. She had to deal with a few minor things, such as some thieves trying to make off with a lot of bits from the digibank here. Or a group of rowdy drunken mon's that got a little bit too into a fight. [She still could feel the burning in her nostrils from how bad they smelled of liqour...]
She was sitting outside on her porch, reading a paper, going over some of the news. A lot of humans were apparently coming into the digital world, a lot of mons were traveling and it seemed like there wasn't too much going on. Something about Demonlords on page 6 but there wasn't much going there.
"Hmm... not a ton going on really. I feel like I should be doing something though."
The renamon turned the page and raised a brow. Something about some doctor out of whitewater performing some miracle, it was an older article but they wanted to touch back on some of what had happened and why it had happened in the first place.
"Don't think gokuwmon are supposed to be that color. Blue fur, green pants and a red jacket? Really? Fashion sense seems to be dead in that part of the world..."

"Quite honestly, I wouldn't be able to tell you what a Gokuwmon is supposed to look like, anyway."
Gato practically snuck up on her poor daughter like that, putting a paw right atop her head, ruffling her fur a bit. Early on, the cat wasn't sure about this town guard business - but, honestly, it seemed like the best thing that ever happened to the Renamon. More friends, a good look around the town, an outlet of practice to help her refine her energy. It was all good for her, and for making it in so quickly, well, the cat and the Gazimon couldn't be prouder!
"So, how are things going, Silence?" The Gatomon would sit down next to the Renamon, and if the fox was done with it, she'd take the paper in her own hands. "I've heard good things from the town about you - nice, helpful, friendly, and a good representative of Rosewood. It's nice to see you finally settling in..."
She gave a blink, thinking back to that journal.
If she's settling in at all...

Silence blinked and then splayed out her ears a bit as she felt that paw ruffle her fur. She'd grin at her mother and turn her head a bit, sliding the paper back onto her lap to give the cat a one armed hug. It was nice to see her again, it had been most of the day at this point hadn't it?
"I'd say pretty well. Been getting used to the town pretty quickly, meeting all sorts of folks."
Silence beamed brightly and passed her mother the paper as she sat down. The renamon's ears flicking as her mother apparently had heard good things from the town about her. Nice, helpful friendly... and even a good representative of rosewood. She'd feel her cheeks flush a bit and she'd playfully push at the gatomon.
"Oh please mother I'm just doing what I feel is right! Being friendly is like second nature to me you know that!"
The journal held a lot of information then, and a lot of information now. About dreams that she's had, about things she remembered. About things she had done, all of them not very clear to the renamon. A lot of them feeling out of sorts.
"I love helping the people here. It just feels good."

It was definitely nice to see her daughter around again! The Gatomon gave a chuckle, returning that one armed hug with two of her own before settling on down next to her daughter. Things were going very well for Silence - and honestly, just well as a family. With all of the craziness with DATS, Gazi's work was becoming quite profitable, and having a daughter who was a beloved guard of the town helped against those that saw their work as smugglers as a bit under the table.
Not that they were using her, of course. Their daughter was a nice, friendly citizen of Rosewood, and the place just seemed to sit right with her. "Well, not everyone expects that from the Guard! I'm sure you have your share of rough-looking friends." She gave a smile, and settled right on in, just reading the paper. The journal didn't come up - finally, their daughter felt content with what they were doing here. And just as she gave that thought, her ears would perk up, seeing Gazi round the corner home: "Oh, hey, there!"
"Well," Gazi gave a bit of a grunt, hoisting a bag over his back, giving a heavy sound as he set it back down on the porch. "Something, something, pumpkins, eggplants, and squash. Managed to go on a farmer's market day - ah, hey there, Silence." The Gazimon gave a nod. "You mind helpin me get this stuff squared away? Looks like I got a big market day tomorrow."
"To think you got all this stuff with DATS looking over your shoulder..." The Gatomon tilted her head, honestly confused by that fact. "Something up on that end?"
"Eh, some group of Digimon decided to reveal themselves a week or two ago, I guess? Its not impossible to show my face anymore - I could actually just buy this stuff."

Silence didn't really know how the whole smuggling thing and guard thing went, in terms of it she saw smuggling or at least the way that they brought food out from the human world to this one as an honest job. No one had told her otherwise and she thought that 'smuggling' was just the termonlogy used for it. She'd grin down at her mother and lean back in her chair humming softly.
"Well Sealsdramon and Leomon are... well tough looking I'd say? Not really sure about the others, grumpy, maybe a little short in terms of temper."
Silence shook her head, that last one had been working on his temper quite a bit. Trying his darnedest but he always had the worst of luck! Silence turned her head to note that her father was back and she'd lean forward. So he had managed to get to the human world on a farmer's market?
"Sure dad!"
She'd bounce up and move over to her dad, hoisting up the bag without really much of an issue. Her body was much stronger looking than her father's after all. Maybe that was just because she was bigger...
"Oh that whole golden week nonsense? They've been talking about it in the paper, lots of speculation on long term effects in digimon and human relations. Maybe some day we'll have more humans in rosewood because of it! Would be nice right? Wouldn't have to go so far to get your supplies!"
She'd beam brightly and turn to the door, ready to bring the Gazimon's haul in so they could sort of look it over and figure out what was what. Silence herself was pretty peppy about this whole endevour to be honest...
"Honestly Dad it's such a long trip... And isn't it dangerous? Well... the getting there part. I heard that a lot of the trailmon's get attacked n stuff..."

"Well, they have to look the part, I guess..."
But really, the guard couldn't afford to keep a bad temper, especially with the patience needed in a quiet town like Rosewood. That thought quickly passed by, though, as Gazi came back with his take over the last couple of days (really, only a few hours in the human world). Letting Silence take the weight, the two would walk on in, Gazi giving a shrug as Silence mulled over about Golden Week.
"Hard to say, apparently things went a bit rough during that whole debacle. Some Digimon trying to intentionally screw things up, stuff like that..." He gave a half shrug, starting to carefully empty that bag over the table. First order of business, take the best condition fruit off to one side, to price and sell in the market - and take the stuff that was already starting to ripen to either sell for cheap, or cook up for the family.
His ear flicked as she mentioned bringing the stuff closer - and he let out a small laugh! "Silence, Silence, if it were easy to get here, I wouldn't be able to make a job out of it. The transport's the only reason this stuff's worth anything on this side." He picked up a medium-size squash: "Less than 100 yen, or maybe 150 bits equivalent. That's how much I spent per pound on these."

"Well to be fair, he was a bit of a grouch when he joined. But like I said. Been getting better!"
Silence chuckled lightly and shifted her feet so that she was better distributing the weight from the bag. She had for the most part spent this day just kind of taking it easy as it was the only free day she'd have during the week. Her ears flicked when her dad addressed the whole golden week thing.
"Hope things go well all things considered. Think about how much we could learn about one another if the worlds could be open about each other?"
Some kind of pipe dream for the future maybe? Nothing she probably would influence as it stood, since she was for the most part just a guard of rosewood. Nothing out of the ordinary. She liked the fact she could protect people here and wanted to do her best.
Then of course her dad retorted with the same facts that he always did prompting a soft sigh. She'd stare down at the squash and simply shook her head. She didn't know what to say to him sometimes and would if allowed just let the subject matter drop.
"Spose I can't really argue with you. Lets just get these sorted out and such... I've got watch in the morning."

Silence was a good kid - always thinking for the good of everyone around her. Certainly it would be better if things were the way she said, but Gazi's current line of work made a profit off of the distrust.
He didn't entirely like it, either. But hearing that Silence had watch in the morning, he'd give a nod, and give the fox a pat on her back. "Call it in early, then. Mom and I will take care of the rest of this - you can do what you like til sundown, of course." The curfew became pretty lax, Silence having far more responsibility with the guard. Tomorrow seemed like it would be another lazy day... ... But life in the guard would prove unpredictable.
It would be the first time Silence heard it in earnest, though she would know what to do per her drills: a siren blared throughout the whole of Rosewood, the sound blaring through what would have ordinarily been a peaceful morning. And Silence's duties, as a rookie in the guard, were pointedly clear:
Get everyone she could to safety. During this time, she'd have the authority to tell other families where to go or hole up, and she'd have the duty to help those that were too weak or unable to get to shelter on her own. Only once the roads were clear would she be allowed to sense for a signal and attempt to reinforce the rest of the guard.
Which might take a while: no-one ever expected the sirens in Rosewood!
