I have to get them to see it as it is...
The renamon sighed softly and tilted her head lightly as her dad gave her a pat on the back. She would call it in early, get some good sleep for tommorow's watch and be well rested for the day. It'd be slow and sleepy of course; but that didn't change what she had to do or the watch she had to keep.
"All right Dad. Thank you~"
She'd give him a playful push before trotting into their home, not entirely ready for the reality of what was going to happen tomorrow.
It was always unpredictable. The early morning shift that she had was usually pretty relaxed and so she came to it with a slight yawn. But... then something happened pretty early on in her shift. The sirens. Her eyes shot open fully and she was ready and raring to go in moments. The renamon knew what she had to do and she'd very quickly, very pointedly take those that she could to where they needed to go, directing stragglers to where they needed and even picking up some of the smaller mons to help them get to safety.
It'd take her fifteen minutes to clear everyone, people here weren't quick to recognize the danger they were in. The renamon looking about and flicking her ears, trying to find where this problem was. She wasn't super good at this whole signal thing quite yet, but even a rookie like her could pick up big things!
So the moment that she was able to, she'd run towards the signal; hoping faintly that it was just a drill...

"BURN."
The Renamon wouldn't even have to track the signal after a few moments. The scent of ash and drifting smoke would lead her right to the source - and standing right before the village, in front of a battered and singed Sealsdramon, stood the source of this morning's disaster - a SkullMeramon (X). Bluish flames cascaded off of its skin, the air above it so hot that it appeared to weave and pulse like a thick veil of water. But even as far back as the gates, a good fifty feet away from where the fire monster stood, Silence would be able to feel an impressive heat roll over her.
This was a mega - one who had already managed to dispatch the commander of the guard, the Rapidmon trapped in boiling hot chains several yards behind where he stood. And the mega - demented or crazed as he was - slowly made steps right towards the village.
A village made of beautiful buildings, made of precious wood cultivated deep in the forest. The Sealsdramon managed to crawl back to his feet, hunting knife in hand, visor scanning the enemy.
"Just... a bit more time..."

The scent of ash.
The burning drifting smoke was easy enough for her to track. The renamon picked up her pace, a fire in rosewood would be exceptionally bad. The renamon sliding to a stop as she took in the scene in front of her. The sealsdramon battered and singed in front of a Skullmeramon. A mega level digimon and far outside of her depth.
She shivered as she could feel that heat roll over her, and even further still she recognized that it was powerful enough to defeat the rapidmon, the sealsdramon. The renamon's head turning to look at the buildings, buildings that were homes to people. Cultivated to stand long and proud through the years.
They shouldn't go up in flames because of just a single mon.
Gritting her teeth, the renamon drew a blade of her own and ran forward coming up to the side of the sealsdramon. She'd send a wave of energy out at the SkullMeramon; not wavering for a second even in the face of this greater enemy. Though she probably couldn't measure up to this opponant, she would at least be able to stall him for... a few seconds, maybe even a minute if she pushed.
"The townspeople are in the shelters sir. They're safe for now! Lets try to push this guy back yeah?"

"Tch!"
Silently, the Sealsdramon wished the Renamon hadn't attempted that: the slash of energy simply wavered over the Meramon, consumed in full by the flames before it would even reach the skin underneath. At that, the skull-faced menace would have its eyes right on the uppity rookie, one who spoke of confidence about holding this beast off.
"Silence... there's no point adding to the body count here." The Sealsdramon groaned, readying his blade, as the Meramon stepped closer, even his footsteps singing right into the dirt. At that short range away, perhaps twenty feet, the Meramon let out a groan, fixating his gaze right in the fox's direction. What happened next defied common sense: that mask split open from the jaw, as a stream of molten metal, blue flames streaming from its mass, was flung straight in the Renamon's direction! It singed and even burned the air around it, red sparks flickering from a few feet away.
The Rapidmon might have been able to buy a minute or two for the rest of the town, but for those still about? This menace wanted to turn it into a slaughter.

"Oh."
The fact that the energy wavered and simply was consumed by flames before it even reached the mega was something that the renamon wasn't expecting. She'd glance down at the sealsdramon as he spoke to her and she'd let out a brief tsk.
"I can't in good conscious just turn away from this."
Then of course came that groan from twenty feet away, the fox taking a light step or two back before that mask split open. A stream of molten metal flung straight at her, it was much faster than she was and much faster than the leomon's own attacks. Simply put she didn't stand a ghost of a chance if anything hit her. She had a split second to choose what she did, it would matter and she didn't really have much of an option other than to teleport off to one side; just out of range of the molten metal.
"I don't suppose there's rain in the forecast? Heavy storms? Maybe something to make him a little less... On fire."
If she could just buy a little time with some snark, a little bit of distraction would go a long way for someone much stronger than her. She wasn't capable of fighting a mega on her own, what it'd take like... forty of her or something?

"Burn..."
Silence would be able to see the effect of that molten metal against the ground, sinking several inches into the earth like butter in an oven. What would have that done if it had hit her directly? Shear an arm or a leg straight off?
Unfortunately for her, the beast was far too gone to even understand the definition of snark. As soon as that helmet clicked back into place, the SkullMeramon let out a howl - and struck both of its arms forward, chains lashing towards the midsection of both the Sealsdramon and the Renamon! The mechanical warrior couldn't react in time, barely managing to raise his guard before the edge of that chain would strike his chest - and send him several yards backwards, careening into the building behind him.
But that was him barely managing to get up his guard at all - a positive. If Silence couldn't find a way to deflect it, on top of being hit with that force, the chain might even succeed in wrapping right around her arm!

Silence's eyes widened a little bit as she saw that molten metal burn into the earth, it would of probably taken off one of her arms or burned straight through her if it hit her chest directly. Even more so the beast was too far gone to understand the snark that she hoped would at least give them a little bit of time.
The chains that followed suit once it's helmet was back in place were fast. Much faster than what the renamon was expecting. She didn't get to see what the sealsdramon did, she was too focused on her own problem. The chain came right at her and the renamon brought her blade up as if to try to deflect it.
Unfortunately for her, the chain broke straight through her blade. Shattering it into pieces and slamming into her. She felt herself fly backwards, that chain wrapping around the defending arm. She'd grunt in pain and feel the world go a bit hazy as she slammed into a building, well more like through the front of the building. She'd cough and grunt in pain as she struggled to stand up. She felt like a few things were broken and she felt light headed but that didn't matter.
"Ouch... Got me... really good ow..."
The renamon could feel her data leaking out of her mouth and moved slowly to wipe away the blood. She couldn't do anything about the chain that was painfully burning against her arm. It was hurting so much that it had stopped hurting which was not a good sign.

Unfortunately, it would be a little worse for her than that. Yes, she was hit, yes she was sent flying, and yes the chain was so searing hot that all other feelings more-or-less vanished from the area, but it still got worse:
The chain was still connected to the SkullMeramon's body. All it would take would be a flick of his wrist back, and he'd be able to reel that white fox all the way in, and deal with her at his leisure. The monster gave a grin, a playful look of delight showing behind that metallic mask...
... But the pull never came. Instead, the Renamon would hear a hiss and a pop, the chain clinking away and severing right down about the middle. And a moment later, another figure would land in the clearing, another mass of flames, this one in the shape of a wolf. Unlike the SkullMeramon, however, Silence wouldn't even be able to see past that black veil, only able to make out a gnarled, metal dagger clutched in his right hands.
He stood, toe to toe and mere feet away from the SkullMeramon, the maddened beast's attention drawn to what he believed was his new toy. Oh, really, someone was fighting him with fire? A chain was flung out, wrapping right around that bladed arm.
But the shadowy figure simply pulled on that chain, seemingly uncaring about its heat, the jagged metal digging into it:
"Let's see how you like it."
A low, guttural voice echoed out, and in the next moment, a stream of dark flame roared out of the wolf's fangs, surrounding the SkullMeramon entirely. Collecting himself back up, the Sealsdramon grunted, limping over to try and collect Silence off the ground.
"Let's... leave it to the Shadow Knight..."

This wasn't good, she could feel herself getting somewhat faint. The burning sensation in her arm for the most part entirely gone. She could tell some of her body was shaking. The renamon knew what was coming next, with the chain being connected to the other. But... what came next wasn't what she expected. The hiss and pop, the clanking of the chain. Left her standing there blinking slowly.
Something arrived, clad in fire and shadow. All she could see in that veil was a metal dagger. She looked uncertain and well... There was that low gutteral voice that spoke, sending light chills down her spine. The renamon shifted, still trying to stand up.
Then sealsdramon picked her up, the renamon wasn't really in the position to argue with that. She'd instead place a hand over her damaged arm, using aura to heal as much as she could. She'd flick her ears a bit and glance down at the sealsdramon.
"Shadow knight...? Wait is that one of those... guys from the tower?"
The knights that she had heard about, yes they were well known among rosewood populace and fairly well reputed from what she could tell. Nothing crazy going on behind the scenes, they were always honest about what they did. And they were very strong.
"...I would like to see them fight but I also don't want to get in their way hnng..."

"Indeed... far too frightening for our normal guard, but available in a pinch."
And right now, the Sealsdramon wasn't going to argue with what was going on. Helping the Renamon up, still wounded himself, the cybernetic warrior gave a huff. Just as he was about to reply to Silence's comment, however, a scream would echo out from the fight.
"IT BURNS!"
The SkullMeramon, in that one instant, had taken on a frightening change. He had taken on that fire based attack, thinking himself immune, but now every inch of him was coated in a thick, black veil of fire, dancing off his bare skin - and it hurt him. This being of fire was slowly being consumed by these black flames, and as he was completely unused to this situation - not knowing what it was to feel a burn - he panicked. His hands raised up to the sides of his head, roaring in pain.
And then it stopped.
That gnarled dagger was driven right into the fire beast's chest - and in the next instant, he fell to a knee, then forward onto the ground, dissipating into a cloud of red data, killed on the spot. The shadowy figure took a deep breath, the weapon disappearing from the ground as his data signal dropped. That shadowy veil vanished, revealing the white-furred wolf man underneath, cracking his neck, barely even winded from the fight.
"Tch." He seemed annoyed, shaking out his right arm, a noticeable burn wrapped right around it. "I was burning too, you nut... if you didn't freak out, you might have been a decent challenge."

"...and really cool to boot."
Silence watched quietly as things progressed. She was able to stand on her own thankfully, if not a touch wobbly still. Though her aura had made a nice little dent in her arm it still wasn't going to be enough for a good bit.
Then they got to see something that she wasn't really expecting either, the fact that the SkullMeramon was... set on fire. By black fire. Silence found herself staring as he was being consumed by the black flame. The roaring of pain making the renamon wince; though she didn't stop watching.
Once that dagger was driven into it's chest, the roaring stopped and the shadowy figure took a deep breath. Then the shadowy veil vanished leaving the renamon quite star struck by who was revealed.
"...Jeez they really are cool."
The renamon slowly walked out of the building, her hand still clasped around her arm pumping out that aura to help combat the damage that she had taken. Though she didn't seem to mind it so much. She'd open her mouth to thank the knight, but... honestly what was she supposed to say to him? So she just went with what came first to mind.
"How does fire that burns fire even work? Oh. Uh. Erm. Thank you by the way."
Yeah really smooth Silence.

"Holy shit..."
The Sealsdramon actually lost composure for a second, seeing how quickly that menace was handled - but he quickly regained his professionalism, swiftly coming out to greet their rescuer. The wolf's ear gave a twitch as the commander gave his thanks: "Much thanks. We'll be sure to send compensation out to the-"
"No need," the wolf interrupted, raising a hand to wave it off. "That SkullMeramon had a hefty bounty on his head as it is, so Terminus will be paying out handsomely. Just consider this par for the course - but thank you for giving us the heads-up."
"Mm." The Sealsdramon gave a nod - and a blink, as the wounded Silence stepped right up to the Shadow Knight. The wolf himself gave a blink towards the fox, before letting out and audible sigh, shaking his head. As if clearing something out of his mind.
Right. Her. "Its cursed fire. What it burns isn't air, but data itself - its able to light and ignite even fire itself. And since he's never felt a similar sensation, he let down his guard." He gave a blink, a 'buzz' felt up through Silence's frame as the wolf scanned his data.
"Still rookie max... tch..." He barely whispered those words, not enough for Silence to audibly pick it up. How... rude?

Silence's ear flicked as she heard her commander swear. Silence shifted lightly and noted the that sealsdramon was a little out of sorts. Why wouldn't he be? Here was this opponent that they struggled to fight against... and then when he tried to pass the fact they'd send compensation... The wolf waved him off.
silence tilted her head and blinked as he told them that the this particular SkullMeramon had a hefty bounty on his head. So they'd get paid from terminus... And that this was all par for the course. Silence shot a somewhat confused look to the Sealsdramon before turning her head back to the wolf as that sigh came forth.
"That's some real crazy stuff then. Glad that you got here so fast. Spose it makes sense a fire type mon wouldn't be used to feeling a burn."
Silence jerked a little bit at the buzzing sensation that traveled through her body. Just what on earth was that? She'd check her wound and raise a brow, pretty certain that wasn't the source. Honestly for the fact she was barely a month old at this point and was just introduced to the guards a little bit ago... Well. She didn't hear what he said exactly but the renamon more registered a mumble than anything.
"Erm... Something wrong sir?"

"Hard not to get here fast - as soon as we verified the location, I came through via portal."
Honestly, the wolf was disappointed that he wasn't here sooner! A little more banter, and the Sealsdramon would move off to the Rapidmon's side, helping their general back onto their feet, leaving the rookie Silence to admire their rescuer.
A rescuer, that now seemed to be giving Silence the side-eye. It wasn't intentional, but somehow, the wolf just seemed a bit off. Mumbling, frustrated, as if he expected to see someone else in Silence's stead. And what came next was probably that much more off-putting:
"When you get stronger, come seek out the knights. There's a little more to this than you know." He was cryptic - and he didn't want to risk anything else by staying near her for too long. With no context to that comment, a portal would open off to the wolf's right, and he'd step right on through.
Not even leaving a name or a reason.

"...Explains the suddenness of your arrival."
Silence rubbed at her chin somewhat thoughtfully, her own eyes were taking in the wolf's posture and form. There was a lot to him yes, he was definitely a fighter but it was hard for her to pin down exactly how strong he was.
She could tell he was looking at her, but she wasn't sure exactly the reasoning for it. The renamon figured it was because of her coloration, after all she had seen a few regular renamons with their standard fur color and she seemed the odd one out! She'd blink quietly as the other told her that when she got stronger she should seek out the knights.
"E-eh? I- Oh. All right then. Err... See you around."
There was audible confusion in her voice as he stepped through that portal and the renamon scratched at her head. Turning to trot over to the Sealsdramon, sure she didn't have very powerful healing abilities as a rookie but at the very least she was able to treat some of the wounds her comrades had up until they got a proper doctor.
"I wonder what he meant by that..."
She didn't know what to say about this entire event. But he was right in a sense; telling her that once she was stronger she should seek out the knights. Which told her she needed to get stronger in general. But the way he said it was more nice than anything. So of course the renamon would have to train... But how strong would be enough?
