The SkullMeramon was definitely an eye-opener to the town of Rosewood.
Either due to that, or as an abundance of caution for what had happened, the guards of Rosewood underwent a heavy training regiment over the next few weeks - and Silence was put through her paces. Two sparring sessions a week, weekend patrols through the forest to test survival skills, a more intense training regiment. These were standard across the board, and the Renamon would feel it deep in her muscles, wiping her out over the first week before she would slowly come to adapt. For the next month or so, it definitely ate away at most of her free time, perhaps just leaving her time for her journal.
... Which was how she found herself at home, late at night, Gato resting a heavy ice pack against the top of her daughter's back as she sketched away at her journal, humming away a small song.
"Mmhmm... you've been going through a lot, hun. Looks like you're finally getting used to it?"

Silence knew that something would come from that SkullMeramon. Something that hopefully would be good for the town and not drop the trust in the guard.
The abundance of caution that followed, along with the intense training regime ate up most if not all of her time. She had to work out more often, spar several times a week, patrols through the heavier parts of the forest for survival skill training. There was more and more heaped upon her and the renamon ate away at them like a starving man, her own desire to grow stronger matching it wonderfully. She was okay with having so little time to herself, she didn't mind it. It made the hard questions stay where they needed to be for the moment. Away from her.
She was resting comfortably at home, sketching away in her journal. Flicking her ears lightly as her mother addressed her. She'd turn her head, noting the soreness in her body wasn't as intense as when this regime started.
"I'd say so mom, though if anything It'll just get more crazy from here I'd think."
She'd tap at the journal and blink lightly, she had sketched out what looked like to be a shutmon. A rare type of digimon in this neck of the woods and she couldn't help but furrow her brow lightly. She had never seen one in person so how did she know what they looked like? There were other sketches in her book too, Leomon's with big swords, sky encompassing dragons.
In one case there was something with... rose petals? A lot of the stuff she drew down or wrote out seemed like from another life.
"I can't help but wonder how much she did though. I keep on rememberin stuff; stuff that makes the training or the other things seem moot..."

"Really, there's nowhere to go from up with everything you're doing."
The Gatomon gave a smile, pulling away the ice pack as she carefully wrapped a blanket around her daughter's shoulders. This was good for the Renamon, yes, but it made it so that they only really had time to talk in the late hours: moonlight poured into the room, as Gazi got some much needed sleep down the hall. As always, the cat was interested in her daughter's journal - well, at least if she was interested to share.
"Honestly, you're quite the artist, there! These might be sketches from a past life, but I can almost see that wolf coming right off of the page - and such pretty flowers, too." She gave a sigh, knowing that her daughter didn't know what any of it meant.
Who she was remained a mystery to the three of them. And perhaps everyone except...
"Huh. I do have to wonder if that wolf knew your past self or something. Would... make everything make a touch more sense."

"It's looking really bright isn't it?"
Silence gave a small smile to her mother and winced lightly as that ice pack pulled away. There were tons of bruises, cuts and the like that she had been told not to heal using her aura, that she should tough it out and that's exactly what she intended to do.
Of course she was actually fairly excited to share the contents of her journal, each page as riveting as the last. Each one seeming like a distant memory. Each one of them striking an odd chord with the renamon. She'd turn her head a little bit and blink lightly as she was given praise for her artistic skill.
"It's just my muscles moving on their own I think... if I'm really drawing these well... heh."
Silence chuckled lightly and sighed, setting her journal down. The wolf seemed to regal, so powerful, ready to stand and fight. Practically ready to leap off of the page into battle. She'd furrow her brow slightly and exhale unsure of what to make of these.
"Maybe? He did say to seek out the knights when I got stronger but. I'm still just a rookie... I can't help but feel he was disappointed by that. Dunno why. If he did know the last me that'd be sort of strange to run into the me from the now wouldn't it? I wonder what sort of stories he might have of her if that was the case."
Silence gently pulled that blanket around her and let out a soft sigh. Tomorrow was another training day, one of several this week. They were kicking things into high gear honestly, as that attack had proven the guard needed to get stronger.
"I wonder if he'll give me answers if I do get stronger."

"Well... hopefully you pick up a bit more than that. Its nice to see a creative one in the family."
The Gatomon was half joking, and she'd soon put that ice pack away, before stifling a nice, big yawn. It was late and the cat had a long day tomorrow - perhaps not as long as Silence's, but neither of them could stretch this out for too much longer. Her ear gave a flick as her daughter mentioned those Knights again. Indeed, it would be interesting to see who she really was.
... Or was, in her past life.
The Gatomon found herself biting her lip again, as Silence looked down the rabbit hole, her journal, thoughts of a past live. To that, the cat gave a sigh. "Silence, a lot of us have it - echoes of a past life. And a lot of us wonder what we were, what we could have been... but after a while, we learn something important."
She gave a look over to the fox.
"We are who we choose to be. Rather than chase this past dream... why not just be 'Silence'?"
The cat left her with that, giving a chuckle as she stood up. "Sorry, maybe I shouldn't do such deep thinking so late at night. Go get some rest soon, hun, alright?"

"Heh. Maybe I should try my hand at painting next?"
Silence let out a loose chuckle and shared that yawn that her mother snuck in. She'd shift a bit and gently give a hug to her mother as the other seemed to think that she should go somewhere else with her choices and life. Silence mulled over what her mother said, shifting quietly to somewhat look over her journal for a few long moments.
"I want to protect people Mom. I want to make sure the future SkullMeramon's get stopped before they hurt more people. If getting stronger and getting answers of who I used to be helps me with that, what's the harm? I'm not chasing the dreams of someone that's gone; I'm chasing my own. If they wanted to protect people too then we have a lot in common yanno? Lessons of a past life for the future of this one or something like that. I choose to be me, but I also choose to protect those I care about."
Silence gave a grin and looked up to her mother as they stood up. They had a point though and silence agreed with them. They'd do their thing their way and that was that!
"Don't worry mom, I'll turn in in a little bit. Just a few more things to write down first..."
The renamon gave her mother a small smile and waved her off, she didn't want to keep the other for too long if she really was going to have a long day. The renamon would stare at her journal, the last drawing that she had done was something simple. A simple picture, some posture of a renamon in a scholor like pose sitting and smiling. Silence frowned and snapped the book shut before shaking her head.
"Tommorow I will get stronger."
The next day rolled around, it was one of the days she didn't have patrols but she did have training. Heavier training than last time, less rest and more fighting to push herself. More and more, she wasn't allowed as much respite. Not out of hate or anything like that but out of need.
The renamon panted softly and placed her hands on her legs, the last few bouts had gone pretty well. Though she was getting used to the bruises that spotted her body at this point, she'd shoot up a glance at the Leomon. They had been going at it for about two hours now and neither one of them seemed like they were ready to quit.
"How many is this... 45 to 13?"
A simple jest, neither one of them were keeping track of who won, or what points they were getting for striking the other here or there. But it was to keep the tone lighthearted...

Not only was it a training day, it was also a rainy training day, and the Renamon would feel the difference. She'd slip more, finding it hard to get a handle on her footing, and she'd have to deal with the added weight of water and caked-in mud weighing down her fur.
Despite this, practice wasn't cancelled, and the Leomon and Renamon went at it, blow after blow, swing after swing, Silence improving with each rotation - even managing to win a handful of hits against the Leomon.
Though '13' might be a bit exaggerated. "Don't think yourself too hot right now!" The Leomon grinned, and would rush in - this time with an open-arm lariat, intent on catching the fox right around the midsection. Gone were the days where he took it easy with the blade.
Now, the fox consistently had to deal with Leomon's best style!

This was the first really heavy rain that she could remember, the mud, the slipping. The hard find purchase, the water weight. Mud caked fur. It made it hard to move, hard to really fight. She didn't particularly like the fact that she was so heavy like this! It made fighting a pain and she had a harder time dealing with the fact the leomon outstripped her already.
Sure she was improving and got a few hits, hell it was even a wider range of 45 to 13. The renamon shifted on her feet, feeling the mud sucking against her legs. Making it hard to move still, a light pop as she pulled one of her feet free. Her classic snarky retorts were thankfully on point, it eased the situation to her just a little bit honestly.
"To be fair, If I was hot I'd be worried. I am freezing cold you know!"
The renamon loosely chuckled, trying to pull away. But the mud had different plans, the slickness of her foot found little purchase and the renamon's face reflected the fact that she had slipped. The open arm lariat catching her right where the leomon wanted to. There was a loud squelching sound as she was pulled free from the mud and then launched a good fifteen or so feet.
What followed suit wasn't rainbows and sunshine, it was breakfast actually. The renamon shakily pulling herself up and wiping her face with a forearm letting out a disgusted yuch before getting back to her feet. She'd huff in irritation reaching to pull out her blade like she normally did when fights got heavy...

That hit way harder than Leomon intended - the moment he felt the impact, he knew that he took it a step too far.
Or, rather, momentum proved a fool out of them both. A freak slip was enough to throw her right onto that rigid arm, striking through her ribs and the stomach underneath. Unsurprisingly, the Renamon lurched, the Leomon giving a wince as she took a moment to get back on her feet.
"I'd apologize, but this is one of the few days we get to practice our footing like this." Heck, the fox might feel the burn in muscles she didn't even know she had! "How about it? You good to keep going, or are you going to keep hacking up a lung?"

The renamon winced as she could feel the pain in her stomach spread across her body. Her muscles had taken a good portion of the impact and she could tell that it wasn't as bad as it had seemed. Unfortunately they had contracted in such a way to make her lose her breakfast.
"I'm normally pretty okay when it comes to dancing but y-yeah the footing is a bit of an issue."
Even now the fox was struggling to pull her feet out of the mud and with an earnest huff she'd yank them out with a loud wet squashing sound. She'd turn her head a bit and at his question she'd huff again, that blade humming to life in her hands. It was rigid, the bits of energy dancing around it's edges giving it quite a pointed look.
"Yeah I'm good to keep going. If I wasn't you'd still come at me anyways saying 'too bad' or something."
There was that teasing tone in her voice and the renamon span her blade around. She had a few ideas of how to deal with the mud issue as well as how to deal with the fact her opponent knew his stuff in this environment. Somewhere distant, down in her core there was a soft pulse. So soft in fact the renamon didn't notice it but the leomon would recognize the signal as a much weaker version of the first initial bout they had.
One more push was all it was going to take to break whatever was holding her back from something that most of the members of the guard could do already.

That was an understatement - the Leomon gave a sigh, seeing Silence try and pull her feet out of the ground. They came out with wet pops, like pulling her ankles out of a deep, marshy swamp - but at the very least, Silence was able to right herself, and even tease the Leomon in front of her.
The lion gave a grin, once more taking his stance: "Well, you probably have it right there. The best way to learn how to use your footwork in this is head on!" A powerful orange aura appeared around his right fist, and with a step forward, he'd fire his 'Fist of the Beast King' right towards Silence's center of mass. To effectively dodge it, she'd have to move perfectly, and to gain any ground against the Leomon, she'd have to be clever.
Clever - or significantly stronger!

It was rather irritating how her feet kept getting stuck in the muck and grime of the wet arena. She kept up the momentum her snark and peppiness brought her, recognizing that stancce that the lion took. She knew what came next and if it hit well it'd be damn well painful; as well as the end of the fight.
It was really the best way to learn how to do things, through the muck and grime. Sometimes the best way to do things was even in the face of impossible odds to wade your way through; even if the outcome itself wouldn't change.
Clever. Stronger. Faster.
Things she could be, be easily given time. The world seemed to slow for her and there was that few moments of like nothing was going to happen. But as all things come, nothing ever stays the same. The gentle light of her previous iteration was something that came with the control of the form. Silence had no such mastery over herself like she did. So of course her light was brilliant, bold. Powerful. The other held herself back, but Silence had no such qualms in things. That light burned brightly, and that signal washed over the area for a split second as the fox digivolved.
Her signal was in it's own right a demon of it's own; something some would recognize if they worked with her past iteration enough. But here? In this place? Few would, those that would would... well be mostly out of range.
The next few seconds were a baffling amount of movements. A fist coated in bright blue flame slamming into the projectile, the muck and grime around her spattering outwards from the force of the two attacks colliding. After the fact the rain had for all of a moment stopped pouring in her little circle only to resume itself.
Her cloak billowed in the wind and she'd heft a sizable sword over her shoulder. A ponytail slapping lightly against her back as the cat pupils dilated just a bit to focus again on her opponent. She was a little slower on the digivolving unlike the other guards, but it seemed to be for a good reason. This form bled power; it lacked the form and control but there was something else about it too.
"...Best way forward is straight through."

A clash. An equal clash.
Of all the things Leomon expected from the Renamon in this moment, that wasn't one of them - but then again, that powerful flash of light, the surge of energy filling the clearing, was a far greater surprise. The Leomon returned to his neutral stance, grinning as Silence took her new form.
"I'd make a joke about this being flattering, but honestly... it's about time for us to have a real scrap."
He'd give a grin, and charge right forth... ... And several hours later, Silence would find herself back home, once more battered and bruised from the day's training. It seemed that Leomon really wanted to test that new form of hers and put it through the proper paces, though it was clear there was still an experience gap. Before the newfound cat would be able to really catch a second wind, the storm outside became far worse, the dull roar of lightning echoing out over the forest.
"Oh, dear... I hope Gazi's able to make it through this alright." Gato gave a 'tsk', drawing the blinds shut as she shook her head. "Honestly, can't believe they kept practice scheduled for today. One look at the sky was all I needed to know it would get like this eventually..."

The leomon-x would shake off her hand and eye it with a raised brow. It didn't hurt as much as she thought as it would. Honestly that was kind of a relief considering she was expecting something else to happen. The leomon-x looked to her sparring partner about being flattered or something, which prompted Silence to chuckle.
"Oh soak it up while you can, let see what this can do!"
So she'd take a stance, one better for larger swords and meet his charge head on. Leading with her fist while her sword was ready to come into play...
Those several hours flew on by, some proud moments and others that she'd rather not think about. The Leomon-x stretched and felt some of her limbs scream in protest. She had really gone through the ringer today! The cat's ears flicked and she'd peek outside. No watch today, but she'd have some in the morning again. The leomon-x frowning a bit and tapping her journal thoughtfully. More memories had come unbidden to her and she sketched them down.
Violent, extreme memories. Battles she didnt' even know of, some of the most intense looking fights that she could never even dream of. The sorts that would... well put the SkullMeramon into a pale dim light in comparison.
"Dad will be fine mom, don't worry."
She'd spin that pencil around and look down at her paper. Another image, one of an inn, on fire with a single silhouette staring at it from afar. A small form and a large form that was kneeling, one arm wrapped around the smaller in a protective way. She'd Tut softly.
"Even if he gets held up, he'll be okay. It's dad. And this just let them do some training that they weren't able to normally Mom. In fact that's why I'm like this."
She'd give a gentle tap to her sword that was leaning against the wall. It was the length of a broadsword rather than a great-sword at the moment, but it still seemed to be just as heavy. The large cat took a seat on the couch with a soft hum, her armor clinking softly as she did so.
"Mom do you know where this is by the way?"
The lion held up her journal and on it was a group of floating islands, large intricate buildings and righteousness seemed to flow off of it. There was a soft undertone to it that made it seem so much more gentle than what it actually was.
And in front of it, that silhouette again, but this time it was firmer. Stronger and standing on it's own.

'Dad will be fine, mom, don't worry'.
As if to damn that thought, a harsh streak of lightning roared across the sky, bright enough to cause a flash through the windows, the sudden crack making Gato's fur stand on end. She swore, slowly padding down her own fur, ear idly flicking at her daughter's words. "It's my job to worry - both about you and him. Alright, deep breath, Gato..." Leveling herself out somewhat, she managed a small smirk.
"Though look at you, finally managing to get up to Champion! And you're still in the form, too... is it more comfortable than using your Renamon form?" The cat honestly seemed curious - of course, the Gatomon was always in her champion form too, so it didn't concern her all that much! But then came that question, the cat blinking as she looked at the sketch in that journal.
Floating islands. Decorated buildings. An almost soft tone to it. "Sort of - I mean that's mostly Luminas design, almost like the capital city. Only been there once or twice myself, but... hm..."
The cat gave a blink.
"These are... a lot more violent than the ones from yesterday."
