Rai was sitting in his room above his parent's bakery with his laptop, doing his homework. He had just finished up with his math and had started on an essay for language arts, "Just got to sit down and do it. I got this in the bag..." he reassured himself. Writing papers was never his strong suit, but he was going to get this done no matter what-- however his stomach growled to remind him that he hadn't eaten anything since he got home from school. "But first, a snack...".
He snuck down into the bakery to filch some pastries and butter croissants--hopefully without his parents catching him. The bakery was still open, but there were not any customers right this minute... His mother was busy preparing things to go in the oven and his dad didn't seem to be there. 'Probably in the bathroom,' he thought to himself. He grabbed some butter croissants, and some cheese danishes and snuck back up the stairs, his parents none the wiser.
He sat back down with his laptop with a mouth full of danish and immediately noticed he had received a mail in the short time he had been downstairs; But who would be e-mailing him? More curious than anything else, he scanned the e-mail for known viruses before opening it.

He blinked for a few seconds at the picture of the egg, before shrugging and tabbing back to his essay.
Later having finished his homework (and his pilfered pastries) he saved and backed up all of his work before manually closing each window--- until he reached his e-mail manager. The e-mail with the picture of the egg in it -would not CLOSE-! "Ugh. Why won't this thing go away?" he muttered in minor annoyance. "Forget it..." He said before setting his laptop to reboot and flopping down on his bed. He was asleep before his head hit the pillow.
--The next morning--
Rai opened his eyes blearily as his alarm clock went off, he sat up with a yawn, stretching his arms, and causing his elbows to pop. He threw on a t-shirt and a pair of basketball shorts before noticing that the egg e-mail from last night was on his screen again; except this time there was only a broken egg shell depicted. Minimizing the e-mail he was horrified to see his desktop completely empty, with almost all of his folders and documents -gone-(including his homework)! He took a deep calming breath… That E-mail must have had a virus.
No, but he scanned it for viruses! Damn it, really, how stupid do you have to be to open a random e-mail from '@@@@@@djm.factorymark.co.jp' with the subject 'Hello!' anyway?
"Well crud…" he said sounding he'd rather go back to bed.
"Hello!" a cutesy voice sounded from his speakers. When he looked back up at his computer he saw something that looked a little like a cycloptic lilac jellyfish superimposed upon his screen. "Hello!" it chimed again. Was this some sick joke? 'Cause he wasn't laughing. "Why me?" he asked himself. "I don't know." chimed the voice.
Wait… hold on.
He didn't have a microphone... how did it respond to him? He checked his closet and under his bed to make sure no one was playing with him. He stared at his laptop and dropped into a Judo stance. "Alright thats enough. Come out now." he said to lure out the intruder.
"Okay!"
Okay? The next thing he knew the room was filled with blinding light. He shielded his eyes and shut them tight.
Something...Something was on his head...
"Hello!" the voice chimed from on top of his head, prompting him to look in the mirror to his left. The cycloptic lilac jellyfish-thing was on his head. Real! And on his head! "Hey, don't eat my brain!" he warned it as if he was telling it not to try any funny business. He seized the blob and held it in front of him at arms length, looking at it.
"What the heck are you? An alien?" he asked with underwhelming interest.
"I'm Kuramon! Hello!" it replied in the same cutesy voice. Uh-huh.
Rai fought not to roll his eyes, "And what's a Kuramon?"
"Me! Me! Me! I'm Kuramon!" the little thing exclaimed, slipping out of his hands and now bouncing up and down excitedly in front of him. "
Stop that!" he snapped, prompting Kuramon to sit still in his lap. He took a deep breath.
"Kuramon, what are you, and why are you here?" he asked it as politely as he could.
"I'mma Digimon! It means digital monster! And I'm your partner! Partner! Partner!"
"My what?" A partner? A digital monster ate his homework! Wait, that's what he's hung up on? There's a freaking digital Monster in his hands!
"How are you my partner?" he carefully asked it...him.. him/it?
"I just am!" Kuramon replied unhelpfully if not cheerfully. "You're my tamer!" his -tamer-? What was he supposed to do teach it circus tricks?
"Kuramon you ate my homework! And everything else on my computer!" he scolded, feeling rather annoyed.
"What's homework?" the blob asked innocently.
"... nevermind." He sighed putting his forehead in his palm. He was developing a headache.
"This is nuts... What am I supposed to do with this g--? You are a guy right?" he asked it still calmly trying to wrap his head around all this. He was handling this pretty well. He totally was right? "Probably!" Kuramon chimed!
Probably... of course...
"Rai, School!" his mother called,
He sighed, "Perfect."
