Didn't expect to find That [Ron/Diego]

Matty and Jimmy blinked simultaneously as they were asked if they could turn into humans too. Matty spoke first. "No, no, we're pretty much 100% digimon." the Onmon said. "Although that guy... hmm. I think dad told me about them once. I think he's what we call a 'spirit wielder'?""Ohh, yeah, fits the bill." Jimmy concurred, remembering that lesson. Apparently spirit wielders were humans that had secured the spirit totem of warrior digimon, allowing them to share their power and become digimon themselves temporarily. " Ah, and as to how we know about pokemon, eh, we've hung out with a few humans in Rosewood and Ys, we learned it from them." he grinned. Ron then unleashed a torrent of questions on to Diego, to the point where Matty had to raise his paws in a motion for him to ease off a little. "Whoa there, questions gotta be a dialogue, give him a chance to reply will yeh?" he advised. Matty and Jimmy would have answered his questions themselves, but neither of them knew more than rudimentary information about spirit wielders, so it seemed the only one among them that could answer those questions was the human that had been Psychemon. Hopefully the twins could convince Ron to slow down a little so they could go about this more constructively though.

Ron realized how he was never gonna get any answers like this, mainly because it was pointed out to him, and stopped himself. " Ah sorry, got carried away there huh? I just wanted to find out as much as I could, but that was not helping... Ah jeez, now I feel dumb." He sighed, rubbing his eyes for a moment before continuing. "So, Spirit Wielder huh? Interesting name, the title sounds like someone takes some dead person's soul and uses it as a weapon, like a sword or something. Although, with the Pokemon reference, could there be a form that looks like a sword?" He wondered.
"Well anyway, I think I should check out that spot before I wake up, follow me or not, it's your call, but I'm going." He waited for 15 seconds, seeing whether or not any of them would follow, but regardless of who went, he was going to walk to that spot after the time he waited.

What is this guy's problem? Then again, maybe it was a reasonable question taking into account Ron's point of view. What Diego didn't expect was to learn there was a special term just for someone with an arrangement with a spirit like his: Spirit Wielder. That means there are others. The boy shook his head to clear it. No, he was going to make the best of this - when Psychemon's spirit was complete she would leave.
He knew humans were in the digital world, but he didn't know just how close they were with the locals. These two kids knew some? They didn't speak like it was very odd. The whole while Diego was listening close and drawing conclusions. Until- "Ah- agh!" Diego groaned a bit and held his head. He wasn't critically hurting or injured, but the yelling in there was getting a little bit overwhelming. He had to explain to Ron, "She doesn't like the D-word. Or to be called a 'weapon.'"
Dang right! I'm a person!
"But mostly the D-word. She knows. It just... doesn't make her feel good." The headache let up as he explain himself.
And yet, witnessing all this weirdness, Ron still wanted to go on anyway. What a dimwit! He actually believes he's dreaming? Diego screamed internally. He's gonna do something stupid!
Psychemon agreed. Better go with 'im, D. He's gonna get in real trouble without us.
Diego pursed his lips and couldn't really decide until after Ron had gone and taken off. Well, the right thing to do was quite clear. Diego called, "¡Espera!" suddenly and started trotting after Ron to catch up with him. He was coming.

Matty and Jimmy blinked with stunned expressions at that description of spirits. "Well... um... I don't think it's as macabre as that..." Matty stated, hoping to backtrack a little. The twins thought that was a position worth maintaining for now, since the human spirit wielder said that his spirit didn't like to be thought of as dead or a weapon. Still though, neither Matty or Jimmy really knew exactly what a spirit was. Yet they were both taught enough tact by their father to not ask questions as blunt as that so quickly. Then Ron declared that he wanted to find the signal that his digivice was indicating. Jimmy grimaced. "Oh boy... about how long do yeh think a human would last on his own in this forest?" he asked his brother. "Forget bets like that, this guy's our alibi for why we haven't been sticking to our lesson!" Matty declared. "We gotta stick by him!""Oh, yeesh, forgot about that!" Jimmy gasped, then ran after Ron too. To his relief, the other human spirit wielder joined them as well. Hopefully the three of them could hold up against any immediate threats in front of them, well... as long as they weren't higher than Rookie level in strength. Still, it felt kind of fun to the twins. Here they were, by themselves, looking after two new humans in the digital world. It was almost like they were partners, but still, they were not. Ron was not their partner, and the other boy had his own Spirit to defend him. Still, the vibe was kinda awesome to them. Matty and Jimmy would follow Ron to wherever his digivice was indicating.

Ron followed the path on the map, while taking a look around the forest, it feels nice to him, he lived in the middle of a city, so he could only enjoy this when the family went camping. "This place is beautiful, the trees here have a nice green color to them." He told the two digimon. "I'm sorry for using that d word back there, Diego, I was just wanting to figure out how it works."
Ron neared the location, smiling at this he turned to the others. "Okay, we're almost at the spot, just a heads up." He turned back forward, and they reached the destination. It was a spot that didn't seem to have anything, just some trees, the only difference was that there was some poll at the base of one of the trees, it was knocked over and covered with foliage. "Huh, someone must have left this thing here, let's take a look."
Ron walked up to the turned over poll, he brushed off the stuff that was on it, and saw some odd carvings on it, one of which was the symbol that was on his phone, another was of a dog with boxing gloves on it.

Diego paused a moment before informing the guy they were following, "She accepts your apology." However, that wasn't the most pressing matter on his mind (for once). "Listen, stranger - Ron, we really should turn-" Nope. It was Diego's own fault for getting steamrolled by Ron this time because his voice was small and low. Besides, was his advice really going to turn the stranger? Doubtful, especially jut as he was announcing they were about where he wanted to be.
Diego thought he recognized the object of Ron's interest immediately. He'd touched one himself, and, well... he thought it wasn't exactly the greatest experience. That was it. This couldn't go any further. "OK! You found it! Let's go!" Diego wasn't just using words, though. He tried to get around the older boy and physically push him back away from that object, too - the one he suspected of being a totem. Diego was small and young, but he was also physically active and quite gifted at jujitsu - a skill he was willing to employ if it came to it. Unless Ron put up a strong struggle, Diego had a real chance at keeping Ron from touching that totem anymore. "You don't wanna mess with stuff you don't understand - trust me."

"Heh, yeah, the Timberlands are pretty neat to grow up in." Jimmy admitted, smiling at their surroundings. "Never really gets too hot, but the humidity can be a pain in the summer. All sorts of neat plants to find, like- OH! MATTY! Look!" he exclaimed, pointing at a vine bearing berries. "Toffeeberries! Let's grab some of 'em to show to dad!""Ah, right!" Matty said, quickly beaming as he realized what his brother was talking about. He turned to the humans. "If yeh're ever in a pinch and you see these berries, pick them and eat them. They're edible and can give you a boost in energy when you need it most. And they taste just like they sound too. Very sweet, but keep 'em contained, a bad digimon gets a sniff of it and you'll probably have to defend yourself."Soon after, it seemed that Ron was close to finding what he was looking for. Matty and Jimmy nodded, curious about what they were going to find. Not long after, they found it. The twins stared at the object as they saw it... it looked like a crude little model of their father Owen. Matty and Jimmy watched as Ron approached, but were surprised as Diego tried to physically stop him getting too close to it. Confused at first, they listened as Diego said that Ron shouldn't mess with things he didn't understand. "...should we ask for help, Matty?" Jimmy asked his brother, sounding a little nervous. While Jimmy normally pulsed with confidence, this was one of the few situations where he needed direction from his older twin. "Well, let's just keep a level head on everyone, yeah?" Matty reasoned, speaking loudly. With that, he turned to Diego. "Is there any reason you know of that we should fear this thing?" he asked, slowly, hoping for a clear answer.

Back when the two digimon where telling him about the area, Ron listened intently, picking a few and putting them in his pocket. As for what Diego said, Ron couldn't hear what it was, thinking it was some noise from the forest. Back to the current situation, Ron was surprised at the forcefulness of Diego, when he was about to grab the poll he was being pushed away from it. " Ah, what the heck man?! Stop pushing, I was just... about to grab it." Normally, Ron would stand back and talk this out with the other person, ask questions, but something was compelling him to grab the object. Ron pushed back against Diego reaching out for the poll, one of berries falling out of his pocket, until finally he grabbed it, enveloping both him, and the item in a green light.
A gust of wind expelled from Ron, pushing everything that was close to him away, Ron felt like he was out in a really windy day. Inside his head, a voice rang.
"You are here at last, I thank you for picking me up, for your assistance I shall act as your source of power and protection, in exchange I only ask that you find my other parts, do you agree to this?"
Ron was disoriented, he had no idea how he was feeling this if this was supposed to be a dream, but he collected his thoughts enough to answer. "I, uh, I guess so?" It wasn't the most elegant answer. "... I suppose that's good enough." the voice said, and then one final flash of light was made.
After the light faded, and the wind died down, the others could see that Ron has changed forms, he was now a normal looking Gaomon, he also was just laying on the ground, groaning. "Ugh, oh man did I wake up? Great, and it was just getting good too." He said, opening his eyes to find that he was still in the forest, "Wait when did a forest... Oh hey I didn't wake up yet, great!" He exclaimed, bringing up a hand to his face, only to find it had a boxing glove on it. "Okay, that's odd, when did I get boxing gloves?"
He looked down his arm, expecting to see a normal, human arm, only to find that it was blue, and had fur. "W-w-what the?!" He yelled quickly getting up and looking at himself. He saw that the stuff was all over him, from head to toe he was covered in white and blue fur, behind him he could see he had a dog tale, and his feet where paws with three black claws each. On his head he saw that there was a red bandanna, and while he couldn't see it, he had two floppy ears.
For a moment, he was speechless, he was trying to comprehend why he was a dog now, for a good thirty seconds he was like this. "...Well I gotta say, this was not what I was expecting to happen when I picked that thing up." he said out load

Diego fell quiet. What did it matter what he thought now? That reckless fool went and did it. He just... did it. Ron wasn't a human anymore. Not right now, anyway, but also never again - not completely, at least. The boy's shoulders slumped. "Stranger, you..." Diego averted his eyes a moment. How on either world was he ever supposed to explain the significance of what just happened to Ron? "You're... you're one of them now. You're a digimon." Now closer in height to the older boy, Ron leaned in close and seemed to very closely inspect Ron's face as if expecting to find some small detail. "Do you, y'know, hear anything?" Diego gestured at his own temple to signal that he meant something inside, not external stimuli.
"Ron, you just- you just threw your last chance at a normal life out the window." The boy scowled. "I was warning you! Don't you get it? You can't just escape now! They're always there, always watching, always inside you! They- they won't leave you alone until you do what they want! I was trying to help you, but now you're like-" Diego whimpered the last bit almost inaudibly. "-me."

As the actions played out, both Matty and Jimmy gasped and stood back as the bond was made. The wind blew about their fur and clothes, but they otherwise stood firm as they observed the phenomenon of a spirit user gaining their first totem. Then it all faded, and the Onmon and Musimon blinked as they saw the result. The human seemed to have transformed into a Gaomon. Not quite as big as their father, but still imposing as that of the result of a human and a spirit totem. They remained silent as Ron realized his new form, but, in the end, he took it better than they were expecting. "Whew... I have heard of humans turning into digimon from dad before, but, seeing it with my own eyes... that's a new thing altogether." Matty remarked, walking up to Ron. "How do you feel by the way?" he then remembered something important about humans and quickly turned to Jimmy for help, then turned back to Ron. "Ah, right, do you feel okay without clothes?! I know they're important to humans but we digimon are ambivalent with them at most... ah... Jimmy, do we have anything spare for him?""Nope." Jimmy said, shrugging. Even though he was a digimon, he rather liked his outfit of jeans and a jacket, and wasn't prepared to share. Matty and Jimmy remained quiet as Diego said his piece. Both of them thought he was a little bizarre for saying so, but, they could tell that it wasn't out of madness, but of genuine fear. It seemed Diego thought that becoming a digimon was something bad. "Well... I don't know much about spirit users, but, surely it's a good outcome for all involved?" Matty suggested, awkwardly. "I mean, a previously powerless human gets to meld with a digimon spirit, and, they make powerful things happen... that's good isn't it?" he finished a little awkwardly.

Ron was still looking himself over as the others asked him questions, first he answered Diego's "Well, I heard someone ask me if I would help find it's other parts, or something like that, in exchange for it's power. Hey guy, whoever you are, you there?" He asked out loud, but no one answered, Ron looked around the forest area "The person who talked to me, or digimon maybe? Come on man don't leave me in silence like this!" Still no answer, "Well, guess he's gone now." Ron shrugged.
He then addressed the two digimon. "Well, I guess I feel fuzzy, although that gets me thinking..." Ron then comes to a realization about his situation. "I'm wide awake, aren't I?" He asked out loud, and as he asked this he heard a voice in his head, a sort of echoey like sound that makes him jump. "Ah you finally realized." it said. "Ah jeez man, don't sneek up on us like that." Ron says out loud as he looks around, but finds no one, "Wait, where are you?" Ron asks, getting another response, "You will find that pointless, I'm in your head." it responds.
"Oh I see, cool, so who are you?" once again no answer is given, "Guy of few words huh? Fine whatever." He says, his attention then going to Diego's self loathing. "Dude you kidding? This is great! I get to protect myself if I get in trouble, I'm pretty sure if some digimon attacked down the line, like say in Shibuya, I would be in a bad situation if I didn't have him in my head."

He hears them, too. Diego pursed his lips and slumped his shoulders. This was it. In his uninformed opinion, Ron's normal, happy life was gone forever, and the boy was powerless to save him. "Is that what you think this is about? Power?" Diego shook his head violently. "That power isn't for you. It's not for people! It's for... them. So they, they can- they can use us! Look, Psychemon, she-"
Diego started to hyperventilate as he glanced at the two digimon brothers. What had they ever done wrong? Maybe it wasn't the best idea to generalize all digimon. But spirits? Diego could still do that without guilt. "This- these spirits. There's something wrong. They're not supposed to be in us. I-" Diego was really losing it now. He was even getting a bit misty-eyed. "-I'm only here because she promised she'd leave if I put her back together! She said that was the only way to get her out! But you, just- you didn't even have to let them in!" Diego wiped his eyes as his heavy breathing was making it hard for him to speak. "I- I hope you're happy. I hope it st-st-stays that way. I hope you can keep- keep yourself and herself apart. I hope you r-remember... remember the difference between her and you. Remember she's not- she's not even supposed to be real! She's not supposed to take over your whole life! Aaagh..."
The poor boy was nursing a rising headache to boot. Both hands squeezed one temple each. "I wasn't powerless before her..." He whined in the Onmon's and and Musimon's direction. "...but I am now."

Matty and Jimmy simply stood and stared as Ron seemed to be communicating with his spirit for the first time. As independent digimon, they couldn’t really grasp the significance of the situation. Neither of them could comprehend another individual speaking inside of their heads. Jimmy took the initiative and leaned forward to sniff his scent. Not too close as would be intrusive, but enough to get a better idea of what he was seeing here. After all, as the son of Owen, he relied on scent as a basic sense of what was going on in front of him. Indeed, he smelled what was Ron’s normal human scent, but, now it seemed to be mixed with something else. He couldn’t put a finger on it, but this seemed to be what spirit evolution was. “Well, it’s two-in-one, that’s as much as I can figure out.” Jimmy said, shrugging. But then he and Matty paid attention to Diego’s outburst. He seemed to be genuinely distressed by this event. At once, Matty and Jimmy tried to console him. “Everything alright there, mate?” Matty asked, gently. He didn’t really have the paws to properly pat him on the back, so he just used his voice. Jimmy meanwhile had four such suitable backpatting limbs, but, he didn’t want to touch Diego if he didn’t want it. As Diego continued to make frantic statements, both of the brothers looked at him with genuine sympathy. They recognized genuine trauma when they saw it. If only their parents were around, they could probably handle this better than them, but, since they were here alone, they would have to try their best. Jimmy eventually managed to find the words. “Wow, sounds like you’ve been through it rough.” he began. “Do you think... maybe a chat with our parents might help you? I mean... one’s a solo digimon, another has a partner, but, daddo Owen and papa Hikaru know a lot about the digital world. They’d probably understand your situation better than we can, and maybe they could help you? I mean... clearly you’re distressed about all this.”The Musimon hoped he was being helpful here. That last thing he said, both he and Matty could tell that he was deeply distressed about being a spirit wielder.

Ron was a bit weirded out about how Diego was reacting to his new form, his spirit on the other hand had a different reaction. "Well that's rude, accusing me of using you like that. It's not like I chose to be this way, besides I gave you the option to decline." Said the spirit.
Ron would have talked out loud but he quickly caught himself, thinking this wasn't something he shouldn't speak about at this moment. "Yeah I get ya, but it seems like this guy went through something to get this opinion, don't know what but..." He trails off in his head, deciding to end that conversation.
Ron looked at his gloves, a curious look on his face. "Hey, so since you have more experience with this stuff, can I ask you how exactly I turn back, is there like... some kind of command you give, to return to human form?" Ron asked Diego, thinking this might get Diego to calm down a bit.

"No, Ron, you don't just-" Diego was starting to pace back and forth. The others were trying their best, but they couldn't seem to calm the boy down. "-it's not up to me. It's never been up to me. She's always decided when I'm me and when I'm... when I'm not."
"But D-"
"-Not now!" Diego was getting a headache again. It showed on his face, like earlier when Psychemon had objected to being called 'dead.' The difference was that this one was self-inflicted so much in the sense that it was a matter of physical stress, not supernatural intervention. Even Jimmy's last-ditch effort couldn't relax him. "Talking doesn't help. Talking never helps. Everyone wants me to talk! The more I talk, the less gets done, the worse it feels."
"D, I can't- you're gonna-!" Psychemon wasn't usually one to lose her cool, but the constant tug-of-war between their psyches was reaching one of its climaxes, and for the first time Psychemon wasn't the victor. Diego's intense emotion was actually overriding her will for once!
"Why can't you digimon just-" Diego collapsed on the ground, squeezing his own head like a stress ball. "Why can't you just leave us humans alone?"
"I'm sorry!" For once, Psychemon's voice was actually audible to the people around her. Matty, Jimmy, and Ron all may have heard her voice in their head pleading forgiveness. But how? It was because Psychemon, failing to restrain her boy any further, was being forced to rejoin the mortal world.
"Exe- execute!" Diego's body began to shine. "Spirit evolution!" He was so far gone he didn't even know what he was doing. His body morphed before the others' eyes back into the digimon they first thought he was. "Psychemon!" Diego, now a digimon again, glared at both the Gaomon and the twins as he slowly rose to his feet. "Psyclaw!" Diego didn't move, but that didn't mean nothing happened. If the ability was successful, then both Jimmy and Ron would be able to see an image of spectral claws slashing all over their bodies and opening up wounds. The wounds were all fake, sure, but the pain, ideally, would be as real as it needed to be.
Diego-Psychemon, despite his stress and fear, was appearing ominously... calm after he digivolved. His eyes were narrowed and his breath steady.
Diego attacked Jimmy and Ron with Psyclaw. -. Psyclaw: Psychemon attempts to use psychic influence to convince an opponent that invisible claws are scratching at their body. The affected opponent can even see illusory wounds on their body, and the pain is realistic enough that this ability deals damage.
