In one moment, the contestants were where they were - and in the next, they were not.
Confusing? Yes, but how else could you describe being whisked away to another realm? A choice few had been given an invitation to a grand contest, and to those that accepted, at exactly 4:00 PM on a nondescript Thursday, the group would find themselves thrust pulled into a large room, a blue electric grid running through the walls, in the presence of what might have been a terrifying sight (X)...
... If it at all acted like its supposed brethren. Its immediately chipper and energetic tone might have broken the mood: "Oh, good, glad you all decided to come! Well, except for those who might have forgotten they signed up for this darn thing, or had their partners click yes on the box without telling their tamers... anyway, its too late to worry about that now."
The Scout flew up, spreading its wings as it addressed the group. "Welcome to the first and potentially-only Digimon Virtual Tournament! Here, you will all fight for glory - as well as my personal amusement - and... hmmm..."
The agent tilted his head. "I daresay, twenty of you is an awkward number. Brackets work much better with sixteen, don't they? Alright, then, you all got five minutes to review the rules, and then a lucky eight of ya will get to give this place a test run! Pity we gotta cut the opening ceremony short, but then again, let's get the ball rollin'!"

And so, we bring round 1 to a close, and I bring you the fight assessments! For reference, the rules are linked here. Round 1 - The Ring - In General"A deceptively difficult battlefield! The ground is made of a tough, high-friction rubber, and the immediate surrounding area is surrounded by an electrical dome. Falling off the platform or touching the border were means to result in a near-instant loss - so on that view, what would be the best way to fight?"
"If it were up to me, I'd pick a strong, heavy form, and put myself as close to the center of the battlefield as possible. Removing your footing, or lord forbid, flying is an incredibly risky maneuver to make. Any solid hit could send you directly up into the rafters and bring your efforts to a premature end. A good effort would be to take this as a glorified sumo match and simply try to take control of center field as soon as possible."
"Though, if any of that became a factor might rely heavily on available forms and how the fight progressed! Let's take a look at the rounds."
"Wow, these can get taken to decision? Honestly, I thought the smaller battlefield and limited space would end up having more explosive fights than this... well, not that Amelie's spirit form really follows any common fighting analysis. As this did not have a 'resolution' I will be analyzing this one a bit closer than the next two."
"Unfortunate as it might be, the rule was for humans to not get involved - so I do have to hit a knock on that call-out from the crowd. Either way, playing on the back-foot in dodging and shields might not be the best way to approach Heraldmon's form. Its a rough decision, but I think I have to give this one to the wispy ghost lady for playing within her limits."
Amelie - 5000 Bits and advancement to round 2!
Arena B - Hasenya vs Kenny
"This was sort of, well, politely worded for a bit of blood-sport, wasn't it? Quite honestly I'm not sure if either of them would have had the grit to see it through to the very end."
"But if anything's to be learned here, its that fights can't be won by dodging. Hasenya surrendered her priority, and Skadi took center stage, not letting up from his initial assault. Momentum was on the ram's side the entire fight, so, unsurprisingly, Skadi advances!"
"Hm, twins? Honestly, this first arena might not have been designed specifically with them in mind. In theory its an even bout, but the twins certainly gave Solomon a tough time...
... And honestly, what did I say about flying? Solomon took a trip too close to the sun, grasping at a 'perceived advantage' that turned out to be her downfall in this limited space. The twins advance!" Vergil - 5000 Bits and advancement to round 2!
"Do my eyes deceive me? A chance to win in the first move, and it wasn't taken?
I'll be the first to admit this round's not suited for Xenica's aesthetic, but simply charging forward towards an obvious cocoon might have been a bit too cautious. All it honestly would have taken was a single grapple and throw out of the ring to wrap this one up. And heck, even fire was available and used far too late to exploit the weakness.
Granted, Xenica probably had a fallback - but the momentum was clearly in the insect user's favor from then on. A huge risk with a huge payoff that snowballed into one side solidly keeping their form, and the other on the back foot.
So, one point for the scary bug lady!"

"Well, that wasn't bad for a warm-up! Though, honestly with it being the first round, viewership's not really where I wanted it at..."
The D-Reaper Scout mumbled that last bit to himself, a holographic display flickering away in front of the agent before he turned to the remaining crowd - the victors quite literally appearing in flashes of blue light with the rest of them. "And in twenty-four hours, we will begin with the next round! Votes have been flying in for the next arena, and between that and picking it out of the lottery, I have to say our audience might be a bit sadistic. So, during your break, please view the following set for round 2!"
Gimmick: Show Me Your Hand
- Level Cap: Mega. (Limited to level of your opponent, so if they don't have the higher level forms, cap it to their highest level. This time, I'd encourage starting at max level)
Rules:
- Arenas will be customized depending on the two member pairings, though will be generally neutral.
- At the start of the round, D-Reaper Scout will generate a card pack for each round, consisting of 7 Digimon Cards. Each player will receive the same seven cards.
- Regardless on if you have a D-Arc or not, you can use these cards. In fact, you HAVE to use these cards. After the first rotation (each player's second post and onward), you MUST use one of your cards.
- You can only use one card per turn, and cannot use a card on your first turn.
- Each card can only be used once, until all seven have been used. Then, the entire stack refreshes.
- And, as the uses are mandatory, you are allowed to perform your own techniques alongside the card uses.

Well, its about that time... so without further adieu, let's see how round two went here! No general description here - the outright chaotic nature of these fights brought some rather swift brawls, while the number of options made some drag on for quite a while. So, let's roll in order! Arena 1 - Amelie vs. SilenceViolence, spectacle, and explosions! This is what we're looking for in this tournament! Unfortunately, it seems like a sheer berserker style isn't quite the answer against Enigmon. The name of the game after that strike to the chest was to endure, and losing time with a slide might have proven to be Silence's downfall. Its narrow, but I have to say that the spirit wielder passes this round. @k - 2500 Bits Amelie - 5000 Bits and advancement to round 3! Arena 2 - Zachary and Panthermon versus AmaranthusThe most pressing thing here is that its dangerous to give an opponent like Amaranthus time to act. Both with the degradation of the building and the insanity posed by the demon in the long haul... the result here is pretty clear.
Amaranthus - 5000 Bits and advancement to round 3! Arena 3 - Toki versus Kenny & SkadiIf there was ever an argument to make one of these fights canon, this one's it. Skadi had the lead the entire time - much more used to fighting and better tactics throughout - but there's something to be said about the character development pulled during the fight. I'm summarily calling this the most entertaining fight of round 2 and a thrill to read. Unfortunately, though, I can only pull one of these two to the next round, so... Toki Akiyama - 5000 Bits Kenny O'Hara and Skadi - 7500 Bits and advancement to round 3! Arena 4 - Cion versus DesmondAn interesting bout - but one where Demi fought at a constant disadvantage. Abandoning the catwalk for the factory floor might have served as a better conduit for the larger Digimon's movement, but the tunnel vision allowed him to use a much smaller area than he could have used against the fennec. A good fight, but the result is clear. Desmond Edmund - 2500 Bits Cion - 5000 Bits and advancement to round 2! Round 5 - Justice versus Xros SilenceThis is a default win to Justice, but due to the circumstances I am not issuing a penalty. Tadayoshi Teppei and Silence - 2500 Bits Vergil - 5000 Bits and advancement to round 3!
The key factor here was Owen's early willingness to exchange blows in the fight. Rather than outright "dodge and attack", he was willing to take damage to ensure the success of his own blows. Not always the right approach, but heck, it works in a scrap like this! Owen - 5000 Bits and advancement to round 3! Round 7
Mae - 5000 Bits and advancement to round 3! Round 8 ryouta - 5000 Bits and advancement to round 3!

"Ah, there we go! Spectacle, violence, drama, and even more violence! Though things may have gotten a bit chaotic here so... I'm just going to take those cards back..."
It seemed the D-Reaper Scout wasn't here to give away freebies, and shortly after the eight combatants returned to the common area, they'd be greeted with a simple bin that said 'return cards here' - as well as a box right next to it saying 'please take one'. Each fighting contestant would find themselves holding what seemed like a simple red ball.
"So, for round three, we're going to take it a bit in a different direction - subterfuge! Or, maybe that's not the right word, but that's the kind of almost-familiar jargon that sells these virtual tickets! Round 3's coming up in 24 hours, so be sure to review those pamphlets, people!"
Gimmick: Your heart on Your Sleeve
- Level Cap: Mega. (Limited to level of your opponent, so if they don't have the higher level forms, cap it to their highest level. This time, I'd encourage starting at max level)
Rules
- With how well the custom arenas worked in the previous rounds, we'll be keeping those going forward!
- At the start of the round - and in your first post - your character will have affixed a 'marker', in the form of a small, spherical object, to some part of their body. It cannot be concealed and must be worn on the outside - and otherwise, be clean where you place it.
- The color of the object will always be the negative of its color background, meaning its 'visibility' is constant. Its size is proportional to the size of the user: for someone who is five feet feet tall, the ball is one inch in diameter; ten feet, two inches, and so forth.
- It should be clear, in your first post, where the orb is.
- Once placed, the user cannot willfully change the location of the ball... oh, and...
- ... Did I mention this thing holds your Digi-Core? Yup! If the object is destroyed, you lose - and if its ripped away from your person, you only got two posts to get it back and stick it back where it was!

Is it time already? Its time to look through Round 3! Don't mind the unusual order here, its just the order I got to them. Round 3 - Owen vs JusticeLet me tell you, this one is close. There's parts of the fight that are outright stubborn - and in a good way, neither side really wanting to conceal an inch. Owen is fairly well balanced, and his tactics to try and focus down a single opponent were spot on for dealing with twins. At the break point of this fight, either side could have easily won. But given the context here, I have to give the win to Justice, Gummy, and Vee. Where Owen fell predictable and took a lot of hits trying to focus down a single target, the twins took advantage, and I'm interested to see what they'll handle going forward. So...
This one's a little clearer in my eyes: only one was striving to win by the end, and in all honestly, Valt's healing factor was a little exaggerated in the second half of the fight. So the psychic anime cat makes it on through.
Mae - 5000 Bits, advancement to Round 4, and the feeling of me actually having to write "Dankmaemaes" into a tournament grading post.
Round 3 - Amelie versus Amaranthus
Amelie advances and gets 5000 bits.
Round 3 - Cion versus Kenny
Cion - Advances to Round 4

"'Yes... yes, alright, we'll do that one too... okay, fine!' Alright, so we had to make some adjustments to the brackets for some last minute switches, so we will see Ryouta and Own slipping onto Round 4 as well. Blame our advertisers, but apparently letting in two more bye rounds onto the semifinals wouldn't be good for our ratings!"
That aside?
"Given how the last round went, this one should be fairly straightforward. So for the semifinals..."
Gimmick: Final Countdown
Level Cap: Super Mega.
Only one gimmick: the round is hard-capped to 15 posts per participant (thirty posts total!).

"Well, well, finally time to roll onto the finals! Its been such a long trip. Me, forcefully teleporting you out to these arenas, and you all swinging at it for the entertainment for the crowd... oh, it almost brings a tear to my eye for it to end!
But, alas. The last fight will take place in the Infinity Colosseum proper. There will be a ceiling with a maximum height of a hundred meters, but other than that? No-holds barred. You've proven you can work through difficult conditions, customized battlefields, and varied opponents... so bring everything to the forefront for this last push forward!"

And while I'm here: Owen Vergil ryouta Mae Amelie You can go ahead and add the following card to your card inventory: Chrome Digizoid Digimon Card Select TWO of the following effects. This will permanently be your N.E.O. card. Please reply to this thread with the two effects you are taking!
1) Soul of the Dragon: On activation, the user is clad in vibrant, red flames. A powerful red beam attack is fired from the user's mouth or hands, exploding on impact and dealing high fire damage.
2) Soul of the Beast: On activation, the user haunches over, muscles tensing for a brawl. Attack is increased for three posts, and the user's senses reach their peak, highly increasing perception and accuracy.
3) Soul of the Ocean: On activation, the user briefly pulses a deep blue. A tense bubble surrounds the user, blocking one attack of equal level or lower. After being hit, the bubble explodes outward, drenching the surrounding area enough to turn packed dirt into a muddy swamp.
4) Soul of the Machine: On activation, the user's eyes flicker with static. The user's arms become metallic with white-chrome metal digizoid for three posts, offering harder physical hits and higher defense when taking damage in the armored area.
5) Soul of the Insect: On activation, the user produces large, bee-like wings from their back. The user gains flight for three posts - and while flying, they can move freely, accurately, and quickly in any direction, like a hummingbird or a bumblebee.
6) Holy Soul: On activation, the user briefly flashes a bright white. All active debuffs are reduced by one post, and wounds are restored moderately.
7) Evil Soul: On activation, the user pulses a dark grey, producing a red aura. The user takes high damage, and attack power is greatly increased for three posts - but the user may not use defensive techniques or passives during this duration.
