For now, it seemed like the morning conversation inside the cell would extend for a while. That was ultimately a good thing, considering the Seekers of Glory needed to gather all of the information they could before making their next move. Going through what Teach had already learned seemed like a good idea.
“Oh, oh. The treasure of knowledge.” Oil seemed pretty interested about this concept. The little seal remained quiet while he became of the target of the captain’s first question. “Let me see!” The seal leaped forward and got closer to the Impmon, examining the item he held. “This looks like… Oh!” Quickly enough, he seemed to have it figured it out. “This is an Invitation Card.” He noted. “It looks authentic. Where did you get this? Did you find it last night, or did you have it with you all this time?” Judging by the look on his face, it seemed like the item was fairly important!
Once that question was answered, their pear prisoner would posit the obvious inquire. “You… do know what Invitation Cards are, right?” Considering the Seekers of Glory had not sailed into the Astrivia quest long ago, it was possible the answer was “no”. In that case, the little seal tried to keep it simple.
“Invitation Cards are cards created by a certain crew that allow other pirates to get in contact with them. By presenting their Invitation Cardto a certain crew, the members of that crew are forced to listen to whatever you have to say and they can’t attack you. Crews usually create those and give them to people they trust or crews that are stronger than them.” Considering the Seekers of Glory might not understand the concept just yet, he went to explain it a little bit better.
“In a sense, it might seem like Invitation Cards compromise the freedom of a crew to choose who they can attack or not. But it’s also a source of opportunities.” The Gomamon noted. “Let's say an individual or a crew named A has an Invitation Card of a certain crew B. If A decides to approach B and shows them B's Invitation Card then B instantly knows the approaching side was strong enough to steal that card or that someone who is at least as strong as B gave A that card.
That means B could be getting in trouble by hurting or ignoring A since it is safe to assume A is a strong crew, because they have B's invitation card. So, in a way, when pirates give out Invitation Cards, they are buying themselves potential deals, but also restricting themselves from hurting anyone who has them. As I said, Invitation Cards are a sign of power. They don’t have a name printed in them, so whoever has them, has… well, the possibility to negotiate with a powerful crew in their hands.”
Well, that seemed like a good enough explanation. It was clear that Oil was more than willing to answer questions in case they had any. Right now, it seemed like they had a lot of time to talk. Which brought them to go a bit further into the subject of the specific card Teach had.
“The one you have right there is a very important card.” He added, pointing at the item. “If I’m not wrong, that one is an Invitation Card of the Chaos Pirates, one of the strongest crews out there in the ocean. I have actually never met anyone who had one of those. I’m sure many pirates out there would kill for a Chaos Pirates Invitation Card and many collectors would pay a fortune for it.” The Chaos Pirates definitely sounded like an important pirate crew. And now Teach had in his power an item that allowed his crew to speak to them! But who were they? “I wonder if my captain could be interested in one of those…” Oil wondered out loud.
The seal’s train of thought was interrupted by Teach’s next piece of input. “The 27th tunnel…” He muttered. “Zaruno has been talking about that for a while now. M-Maybe you should ask him once he gets back?" Was that a good idea? Even Oil didn't seem too sure about it. "I wonder why someone gave you something as important as a Chaos Pirates Invitation Card and told you about the tunnel. Whoever that was, it must have been someone important if they had such knowledge and held that item.” There seemed to still be a lot of mystery around how the Seekers of Glory got to Grimway. No point in thinking about it right now, though!
“So? What did you find out about the twenty-seventh tunnel? I know Zaruno has been looking for it for a while, but he never tells me much about his findings.”
