Entering the temple made John feel an almost overwhelming sense of nostalgia. There was a particular video game series about fighting dragons he enjoyed. This very room reminded him of the many times he had delved deep underground into the bowels of the earth. All containing enemies to fight and puzzles to solve. Puzzles were one of John's fortes! Except for the jigsaw ones, of course.
then came the entrapment. The force of the door shutting made John and his Agumon partner flinch. They didn't expect it to happen. Bezil, expressing his initial distress mood, drew the pair to console him. But it looked like it wasn't garnered with how quickly he calmed down.
"That's the crest of Friendship?" John asked, inspecting the faded emblem. "Hm. I wonder, Cas. What would you turn into when we get the Digimental?"
The Agumon shrugged. "No clue! But that's what makes it exciting!"
Sophie expressed that the awaiting trials would involve friendship. That made a lot of sense to the pair. Considering they were in a temple with the mark of Friendship on its door.
Their friend's confident expression made John and Casimeir want to do the same. "We're with you, guys. We accept the Trial of Friendship, too! No matter what's thrown at us. We'll tackle it together!"
They shifted their attention to the five panels. It was established that they produced an electric shock. A portion of the room lit up with a blue hue when the bolt of energy crackled from the pillar. John and Casimeir gulped nervously. But. They would need to be under a lot more pressure to be deterred.
What Bezil suggested next had logic to it. One panel for each of the participants of this trial. Each to undergo the pain together as friends. John and Casimeir appreciated the symbolism.
John and Casimeir shared a look. Unspoken words between them to decide how to go about this. Then, they nodded, and looked to Bezil with determination lighting up in their cores. Then, they gave a reassuring smile in Sophie an Lantis' direction.
"You can count on us," John offered, offering his hand to Sophie once he took hold of Casimeir's paw. "We'll go through this together."
"Yeah," Casimeir chimed. "Together as friends."

Sophie was initially terrified at the prospect of all this. Stepping on electrified traps... they could all be killed by this. But... she reassured herself that all this was a test of friendship.
With that realization, she reflected on her past. Sophie... never really could make any friends. Not back in her home town of Omaha where she could never really fit into a clique that suited her, and not in her new home in Japan where her outgoing American style personality isolated her from any prospective Japanese friends. Really... the only people she could count on as her friends in this situation was her digimon partner Lantis, and her little brother Colin and his partners... maybe... this was the opportunity to count John, Casameir and Bezil as her true friends here too?
With that, she relented. "Alright. If that's the plan, let's do this..." Sophie decided, then stepped forward along with the other four, expecting to feel pain, but... as the five of them treaded on their panels, they felt no pain. The panels glowed blue beneath them, then to Sophie, Lantis and Bezil's astonishment, that was all there was to it. The five of them treading on the panel resulted in no pain, and the way forward was rendered open to them.
"What...? How...?" Sophie asked, having prepared herself for a lot of pain for the sake of her friends, but was gobsmacked by the fact that they received none.
"Perhaps that was our trial in itself?" Lantis suggested.
"Either way, the path forward's there, let's move it before it's too late!" Bezil encouraged them. Sophie and Lantis agreed, running toward the open door, hoping John and Casameir would follow too.

John and Casimeir felt like they could relax. Each drew a much-appreciated sigh of relief. So they would not have to experience being shocked for a trial. Rather, as Lantis pointed out, trust in one's friends was the trial itself.
Sophie and the others hurried to the new pathway which revealed itself with John and Casimeir at their heels. They didn't want to be left behind, after all. What's more, there was no telling whether the entrance would close itself back up in a certain time frame.
"That wasn't as bad as I thought," John murmured. "So now we can expect that we will have our friendship tested in these ruins."

At John's hypothesis, Bezil gave a shrug. "Who knows? Maybe that was our test?" the Gumdramon suggested. "That was a pretty big step for the sake of friendship there, us all trusting in each other under that big threat to move forward. Seems like a thing only friends would do."
Hearing it from him, Sophie felt that she agreed with that. "You know, you might have just hit the nail on the head there, Bezil." she said.
The Gumdramon grinned and pointed to the hammer on his tail. "Thanks, it's my specialty." he replied.
"Well then. With that dealt with, I suppose we should see what lies beyond that door." Lantis said, smiling at the conversation regardless. "Shall we continue?"
Once they proceeded through the door, thankfully nothing happened behind them. However, ahead of them was something of an altar. An eerie blue light lingered above it. Behind it, was the strange symbol of a circle with barbs, with a yin-yang type wave going down the middle. And upon the altar was a small round artifact bearing the same symbol.
"There it is..." Sophie said with astonishment. "That's the digimental. Okay, John, what happens next is up to you. We can't help you here. What you need to do is to prove yourself worthy of wielding it. Only if you succeed will you be able to lift it."
"Yeah... that's pretty much how digimentals work." Bezil added. "We'll try out best to cheer you on though. We're friends after all!"
"You've come this far, do your best." was all Lantis said, as they egged on John and Casameir to approach the altar and prove to the digimental of Friendship that they were worthy of it.

In all honesty, John and Casimeir both expected to be severely hurt by the electric trap, if not killed by its potential power. So they were glad that their initial hunch was correct. Everyone seemed to be in agreement that this temple was indeed designed to test the mettle of friendship between individuals.
And now they all passed through the next door. The deeper into the temple they went, the more an earthy smell permeated the air. Both Casimeir and John very much expected another kind of puzzle in the next room. But instead, there was an altar. And on top of the altar was the Digimental of Friendship.
John instantly recognized that it was a Digimental. "Woah," he breathed. "It looks similar to the Digimental of Reliability. Well," he paused, "I say similar...But it looks so different. More like a peanut than an egg. Is that a lightning bolt at the front?"
Casimeir chimed in. "This is a lot different from the other Digimental...We just had to fight a Seadramon to protect people and Digimon at a beach. The Digimental of Friendship washed onto the shore, and I Digivolved."
John's eyes didn't waver from the prize atop the altar. But he was also wary. "What kind of trial do you think we'll have to go through?"
"Not sure," Casimeir replied, "but that's part of what makes the challenge fun. Can't be worse than being electrocuted!"
The man smiled at that. "Yeah." He and the Agumon then approached the altar. Each step seemed to make John's heart beat harder and harder. Now standing right before it, John's hands hovered over the Digimental.
And they kept hovering.
Casimeir gave a concerned look to his human Partner. "John? You okay? Ground Control to Major John!"
John smiled, with a slight nervousness being painted into his expression. "Yeah! Just...Thinking about Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom."
Casimeir smirked. "I don't think there are any large boulders that are gonna try to squish us. We can do this! We passed the first test with no problem, right?"
The dinosaur's words were a comforting blanket that helped calm the man's emotions. "You're right." No longer wanting to hesitate, he took a calming breath, and then touched his hands to the Friendship Digimental.

Sophie, Lantis and Bezil held back as John and Casameir approached the digimental, giving them their space for this moment, but still remaining close by in case they needed further assistance.
Sophie noted that John was much more confident now that they had passed their trial. And while he still voiced his hesitations, along with Casameir, Sophie got the feeling that they already had this in the bag. "Oh, just grab it already!" she called once they had comfortably approached the artifact. Lantis laughed at this, while Bezil pretended to not know what they were talking about, but his resistance didn't last long and he too snickered.
"Cripes, you boys..." Sophie muttered at them, but chuckled as she got why they were giggly at these choices of words.
As John and Casameir claimed their digimental, a powerful light would shine. So much that it was too much for Sophie to stand without support. Lantis held her upright, while Bezil had no choice but to hide behind them. "This is your moment, John and Casameir! Think of your friendship! Prove yourselves worthy of this digimental! Think of all you've been through until this moment! You two are wonderful friends, I've seen it myself! Now prove it in front of the digimental!"
They watched and hoped that these words would prove true.

"Think of your friendship!"
Those words echoed throughout the chamber they were contained within. Resonated with their very cores. And it would be as soon as those words left Sophie's mouth that John and Casimeir's minds opened the floodgates while memories rushed forth.
John and Casimeir's lives together flashed in segments as their minds connected. And it all began with the moment where John located Casimeir's egg in Japan; resting in a small pond of all things the day he met Maia and Kyaromon. Two people who they needed to reconnect with, now that friendships were the theme of the day.
John knew, in that moment of finding his Digimon Partner, that the two would become inseparable. He had every intention of taking care of the egg and raising whatever hatched from it for the rest of his life. Forging a bond that would be unbreakable.
And what a bond it would become. Joy was overflowing from the pair. The time they spent together had been so meaningful. Both human and Digimon held onto the Digimental tightly. Their friendship was being tested, and they would not fail.
They could not fail.
It would be their friendship and faith in each other that would push the pair past different milestones in their partnership. A new memory flashed into existence. The very first time when Casimeir Digivolved into Greymon. An occurrence that transpired out of the desire to protect other friends of his, Satoshi and Tsunomon.
A more recent testament to their friendship came to mind. The time when Casimeir achieved his Mega state to protect John from great harm in the Empyrean Skies. Turning into WarGreymon to save his beloved human friend from being thrown into an abyss.
John and Casimeir's eyes were squeezed shut to keep the blinding light out of their sight. But even with their eyelids closed as tightly as they could be, the pair could still feel its intensity.

Sophie and Lantis could feel that John and Casameir were going through something similar that they went through in their trials. From the moment they became partners in Terminus City, from when Lantis evolved for the first time, and when they achieved armor evolutions.
It was truly an experience beyond words. It was one thing for a digimon partner to evolve to their normal champion level in a moment of crisis, it was another thing for them to achieve armor level by tapping in to their true inner strengths and bonding with their human partner in that subtle, hidden way. Both Sophie and Lantis recognized that was what their friends were going through right now.
“You did it, guys!” Sophie called to them as the light of the evolution filled the chamber. “You've tapped into your inner potential and achieved an evolution beyond what our normal digivices are capable of!”
“Indeed. It takes exceptional effort to achieve an armor form, and you two appear to have grasped the concept.” Lantis added, impressed.
As to what Casameir's armor form would be, they awaited it eagerly.

Light continued to shimmer from the epicenter of John and Casimeir. And with each passing moment, it only grew brighter and brighter. The light orb swallowed the human and Digimon partners. Casimeir's form became light itself and his body shifted and grew.
The darkness of the cave could only give way to the new source of light. And as fast as it arrived, the source of shimmering cerulean light faded away. John kept his eyes shut. His irises still felt like they were burning from the sheer intensity. Finally, he opened his eyelids. The man attempted to blink away the temporary blindness in his eyes.
"John?"
"Cas?" the man asked, finally getting his sight back. The visage of the new Digimon before him made his breath become caught in his chest.
Before him stood a quadrupedal Digimon who stood at least thirteen feet tall at his haunches. His color scheme was a mix of blue and black, and the armor he wore was adorned by what could only be described as lightning bolts.
"Woah," John breathed. He quickly pulled up his Digivice to activate it and get a reading on his partner's new form. "Raidramon, huh?"

Sophie, Lantis and Bezil watched with amazement as it was revealed that Casameir had evolved to Raidramon.
“That’s a pretty powerful evolution there.” Lantis remarked. Sophie agreed, he certainly looked the part.
“Well then… is that everything we need to do here?” Bezil then asked once enough time had passed for them to get their bearings right. Sophie thought that it was probably time to head back now that they got what they came for. She didn’t want to spend more time in a strange unknown dungeon than she needed to.
“Not that I’m aware.” Sophie said, then smiled at John. “Well then. Shall we head back to headquarters? I can open a portal back for us if you want.” she then turned to Bezil. “You’re welcome to come with us if you like, Bezil, we can show you around AEGIS headquarters.”
“Really?” Bezil asked, a little surprised to be asked this. “Well, um, would it be alright? I’m not sure if digimon are allowed on Earth… plus I’ve never been there before.”
“You’ll be fine as long as you’re in the headquarters, we have permission there.” Lantis assured him. Bezil then agreed, a little excited to go on his first visit to Earth.
If John and Casameir had no objections, Sophie would then begin to open a portal back to the human world, where they could celebrate their find here.
