Power, sheer unrelenting power washed over Metallife as Lucemon revealed their rookie form and he felt himself cowed before it. He couldn't match up to that raw power. Not yet, not when he hadn't reached his limit. He just had to push a little more...As if she sensed his thoughts Hiroyo laid her hand on his leg and leaned forward. Ophelia called out her conditions with a small chide directed just at him. He rolled his his head and felt pain radiate down his spine and flinched. "Hey, it's okay." Hiroyo muttered. She rested her weight against his leg. She weighed so laughably little, it would be child's play to push her aside but event hat effort right now was beyond him. "What's o̶k̸a̶y̷?" He asked, his voice a discordant rumble. He could see flashes of light and shade reflected across her face. If he angled his head just so he could see darkened shapes reflected in the lavender of her eyes as the sound of ice breaking and reforming reached him. He scraped his fingertips on the ground, small pieces of the shattered tile rolling away from his fingers. "How is t̴h̶i̸s̷ okay at all? I̸ am- I̴ want to-"His words failed him. "It's okay," Hiroyo repeated. She took a deep breath at all his frustrated little movements. "It's okay because it's not your fault. Lucemon is at their best but you're not. We're not. I'm tired." She insisted. Her hand on his knee moved in small comforting circles. "Hah! What does it m̷a̷t̸t̸e̶r̴, if you are n̷o̵t̶ at your b̸e̷s̶t̸?" He demanded, dropping his voice so the conversation would hopefully stay between them. It also let him hear the fight more clearly, as maddening as it was to listen to the sounds of combat while he kept is back turned to the event itself. A hand on her hip, a disappointed sigh. He stared at her as she drew back and assumed the pose then lifted a finger from the digivice and wagged it at him. The action was a strain on her, he could see let gravity drop her hand back to her side instead of moving it herself. "Are you sure you were listening in the restraunt? We're a team! T-E-A-M! If one of us isn't operating at 100% then neither of us are! Right now," She paused and licked her lips as she attempted to get control over the bite that had crept into her voice. She looked over his shoulder at the fight he was so anxious to see before looking back at him. "right now I think it was a little too early for us to take this fight. You and I, we still have a lot of work to do on us."He snorted and looked away. It was true, one of his components was thinking in something more crude than actual thought, they had forgotten the words spoken to them in Rosewood. The bridge between them and Hiroyo was still an unsteady thing made of rope and wood, not yet capable of holding the weight of a fight with a Demon Lord upon its length. But it was so frustrating! A good brawl, the rush of adrenaline and excitement! His head lolled back as he stared at the sky, frustration welling up inside of him. Finally, finally he had found a good fight! Finally he had been able to cut loose! "We can try this again." Hiroyo said and abruptly Metallife realized those inside thoughts had been excaping from his mouth all along. "There's still more Demon Lords out there, and hey, maybe Lucemon will be up for a rematch sometime in the future! So don't push yourself too hard now, okay? There's no sense lighting yourself on fire and then living as a pile of ash later! -Well, uh, that metaphor isn't the prettiest but I think you get what I mean?"She peered up at him, a chagrined expression on her face. He hmph'd and then turned far enough he could stare over his shoulder. It hurt- every bit of him from his back to his arms protested but he did it anyways because he wanted to say just a little more. "I might be d̸o̷n̶e̷ now, but w̵e̵ will be back!" He promised. To the Demon Lord, to his Allies, to himself. An audible sigh rose from Hiroyo and she loosened her death grip on the Digivice. Combat Log Metallife officially withdraws from combat!

It didn't matter how agile Lucemon was if they were literally pinned to the ground. Ophelia's chains were already putting in some serious work, and while her weapon managed to smash through the chain with ease it did at least dampen the impact a little. The blow only managed to mostly sink into Lucemon's chest, leaving a painful looking gash but not providing a fatal blow. Yet this wasn't just Ophelia's chains at work. Seeing a winning strategy, Joker followed up with a pin of his own, a rapier plunging through each to drastically reduce Lucemon's already limited mobility. Before they could even try and focus on the situation Joker kept the relentless onsalught up, headbutting Lucemon right back in the gash. They reached out with the one hand they had freed up to try and push Joker's head away, but that left them exposed right to Ophelia's next attack. The good news was that the shadowfire burns wouldn't do any further damage. They harmlessly dissipated around Lucemon as the halberd came thundering down onto their body.
The bad news? It was still a big fucking polearm about to crash down onto an already heavily targeted part of Lucemon's body. With the third time their gash had been hit, it seemed to spell major trouble for the Demon Lord: their body practically split in half at the chest, each side of their torso hanging loosely on opposite sides of their hips. With how humanlike Lucemon was, only the complete lack of blood stopped this from being a grisly sight.
However, it may have been too bloodless of a sight. Only a few token pixels of data drifted off from such a grievous-looking wound. And, in fact, Lucemon didn't even seem to have a Digicore at all! It looked less like a Digimon had been devastatingly injured and more like a prized porcelain stature had been shattered. Nevertheless, Lucemon lay still, not even twitching after taking such a devastating blow. MetallifeKuwagamon may have stepped back from the fray, but had it already come to an end?
Perhaps not. In a single, seamless motion, Lucemon kipped back up to their feet, the chains of ice shattering dramatically around their body as they did so. Their body glowed a brilliant white as they hit the ground, and already the pixels of data drifting off into the air began to flow back into their body. They felt along their hips, reaching for the two halves of their torso. Upon making contact they began to gently press upwards, their body furling back together as simply and easily as a zipper. "Whew! Been a while since that's happened," Lucemon said, talking through both ends of their severed face. Their voice sounded almost distorted, especially when Lucemon put both sides together unevenly. It took a little bit of pressing down on their raised right scalp, but soon their left and right halves would slide right back together in perfect place. "Lemme tell you guys. Daemon's gonna be pissed when he finds out someone beat him to doing that. For a guy who's all about that wrath, I'm pretty sure that ego of his is trying to muscle in on my territory!
Anyway, that was a fun warm-up. You guys ready for round two? They hopped back to steal some distance from Ophelia and Joker, settling back into their fighting stance.
Rasielmon looked aghast. Right when it looked like a natural point for her party to disengage, he just went and healed himself like that? It was bad enough that Ophelia had just proclaimed not to give up until all of her allies did, but now it seemed like Lucemon wouldn't even consider giving up anytime soon! What if they didn't even let this fight end? She grit her teeth, a rare emotion glowering beneath her cat's mask. Was it anger? "I think they well earned a break, Lucemon," she said, trying not to let the curtness in her voice overwhelm its natural warmth. "Haven't they performed well enough against someone of your caliber?"
"I know, right?" Lucemon's eyes sparkled with almost childish glee. "That just makes me want to fight 'em even more! I mean, it was just getting good and everything!"
For now, Rasielmon bit her tongue, looking towards Ophelia and Joker. With all of the fighting going on, it would be hard not to notice how her aura had changed. While she was once focused on protecting the noncombatants, now she was surveying the battlefield. Every muscle of her body was tensed protectively. And the look in her eyes continued to harden by the second.
Whatever happened next, one thing was clear. The passive observer from earlier was gone.
Combat Log: Lucemon takes a trio of seriously powerful hits, enough force dealt to leave their body completely blown in half. However, they seem worryingly blase about this, continuing to merrily chat as they heal themselves. Perfect Restoration - Lucemon's body posts a brilliant white. Even grievous wounds to their person begin to mend, and ongoing effects targeted on them are quashed. With their turn spent healing, they simply wait there, eager for round two.

Following a successful stabbing attack from Matadormon’s curiously-shaped beak (which would totally be called Impalement Prince if it was an actual signature attack of his), Lucemon was left wide open to Ophelia’s next move, as the snow lioness charged at them with her spear… and left the fallen angel even more widely open. Literally! Their body was torn vertically in half, as if it was made of paper. “Damn… that’s so metal!” Yuko observed from the sidelines, being amazed rather than disturbed by the sight.
Well, it helped that despite suffering an injury that should be fatal, Lucemon was still alive and well, even casually putting their body back together with some minor hiccups. Matadormon pointed one of his knife-fingers at them, a big, cartoony sweatdrop forming on his head. “Uuuh, Lucy? Your face looks asymmetrical. You need to move the right half a biiiiit further down… Si, just like that! Perfecto!”
Once the great Demon Lord adjusted their face to be more symmetrical, they hopped backwards to gain some distance from Jokah and Ophelia, itching to begin ‘round two’ of their fight, much to Rasielmon’s growing concern. “Hell no! Round two started after you threw that damn island on us. This would technically be round three.” Yuko pointed out, before outstretching her arm and pointing at Cassie. “Besides, that cute little thing has been asking you to stop. Look at those eyes. Look at them! Cute! You wanna continue fighting? Tough luck, buddy! Metallife has already withdrawn and Jokah is in no shape to fight.”
“What are you talking about, I’m totally fi- wait, why did my accent change? And why do I feel shorter all of a sudden?” Jokah asked in a puzzled tone, checking his hands to realize to his shock that he had turned back into a Dracmon. “Nyaaaaah! I de-Digivolved! How could this happen?!” “See? What did I tell you!” The delinquent Tamer nodded. It was easy to see how, after sustaining more punishment than any other combatant, all of the pain piled up and her partner could no longer sustain his Ultimate-level form.
“Bah! This is just a minor setback for the Demon King of the Digital World!” Dracmon claimed, before turning his attention back to Lucemon. “Alright, Lucy. I think we can all agree that a normal Digimon would have been killed from that attack you just took. Which means that you technically… lost.” The child-sized vampire said with a large grin, stretching the L just to let that thought sink in. “Don’t worry, though! There’s still plenty more things we can compete at. Nobody said we only had to do one thing. Rock paper scissors, checkers tournament and hot dog-eating contest are all viable options! So, what do you say?” The self-proclaimed Demon King suggested.

It was safe to say, both Ophelia and Joker had laid out quite the smackdown here; between the lioness' twin strikes with her Azure Fang, and Joker's own headbutt, Lucemon ended up nearly split in twain by the duo's combo of attacks...!
Even though they were - seemingly - on the winning side, though... Ophelia, frankly, found it a little disturbing; the way that Lucemon was split apart, yet without any liquid data to bleed or a Digicore to speak of... It felt unnatural, to her, that Lucemon's body didn't behave as one would expect; making the large Panjyamon's ears flick back a hair in uncertainty.
It didn't help much either, when Lucemon - suddenly - would rise to their feet, and quite literally put themself back together, as if the fight never happened at all...! Ophelia's tail stiffened and puffed the slightest amount; and she couldn't help but furrow her brows with a soft growl, muttering "What in the hell are you, even...?" Though she was speaking her thoughts out loud, her tone was low, being less an inquiry towards them and more her simply expressing herself.
The fact that Lucemon easily shattered the chains, too, meant that Ophelia and Joker no longer had the advantage of mobility on them; which was quite apparent, by the way that Lucemon would hop back to put some distance between the three of them. The fallen angel was raring to continue the fight, calling everything that led up to now a 'warm-up', even..!
But whereas Ophelia was willing to take Lucemon up on the offer for a round two, the same couldn't be said about the others. Rasielmon was starting to fume at Lucemon's lack of restraint, Yuko wasn't keen on taking them up on it, and Joker had - from the looks of things - devolved straight back to Rookie, from the exertion of the fight.
Which... Ophelia had to admit, that she was starting to tire, as well. She took some hits here and there, and maintaining this brand new form of hers against a tireless foe was starting to take its toll on her; even if she wasn't showing it very well. Her muscles thrummed with that familiar ache of exertion, her core was beating practically in her ears... She had agreed, to back off once the others did - and now that she was more or less the last one standing...?
"... Yeah, I'm calling it here, too." She'd remark, huffing briefly as she let the tension of the fight leak out of her. Her shoulders slumped slightly, her eyes took on a lazy and half-lidded look, her tail drooped in a lax sway, and she allowed herself to lean against her staff in a casual fashion. "You fight like none other, I gotta say; but I ain't gonna mess up Rasielmon's nice island any more trying to fight ya. Maybe another time."
Though she was lax, she did keep a close eye on Lucemon; still readied, just in case they attempted to continue the fight themselves.
Cassie, though, would let out a relieved sigh at this; happy to see that Ophelia was calling that good, for now. Glancing over to Yuko; she'd tilt her head a little at the other's emphasis on her cute appearance, questioning "Am... I really that cute?" with a soft giggle. She didn't doubt Yuko's judgement on this; but she'd never seen anyone emphasize on her being so cute quite like this before..!

Few things could ruin a touching moment like a monumental battle going on in the background. Especially when one of the combatants just split down the center to the waist like a ragdoll torn asunder.
"Wha-what?!" Hiroyo flabbergasted sputtering called MetallifeKuwagamon's attention back to the combatants and he turned to stare at the sight of Lucemon split in half. She patted his arm insistently to keep some of his attention. "Hey, that's not-is that normal? Is that what it usually looks like?"
"No," He paused as the ice shattered dramatically and Lucemon moved. For all appearances the Demon Lord seemed completely unbothered by having been shorn twain and Metallife felt something stirring in his own core. "Getting c̴u̵t̶ in half usually d̸o̶e̵s̴n̵'̵t̵ look like t̶h̸a̶t̵ for a Digimon."
"Uh-huh." Hiroyo was distracted. He didn't turn to look at her, and he could easily guess she hadn't taken her eyes off the sight of Lucemon reassembling themself even when she asked her question. He snorted as Matadormon directed the reassembly of Lucemon's face. For a moment the thought bubbled up that it would have been far more amusing to let him put his face back together misaligned ('imagine when he looked in the mirror later!') and then another arose ('do you really want to deal with that?') and he wasn't himself anymore.
There were two seperate individuals were one use to be.
Light consumed the cyborg digimon's form. A silhouette of his form at first it swiftly morphed into a spherical form before splitting up into cubes and blocks of light. Hiroyo stared as it separated out into two forms, lighly spinning for a moment before they condensed into the form of a small yellow bug with wings and a green bug sticking out of a spikey pinecone.
"Roger? Morgan? Is that you?"
"Who else would it be-heeee?" The last word got caught in a yawn that stretched it out and Roger finally shut his beak with a click. Hiroyo looked far from her earlier expression of worry- her eyes were wide and her mouth upturned with delight at the diminutive form of her partners. It wasn't just the adorable ness of their appearances that made her so pleased. While Metallife had seemed reasonable enough, he still wasn't Morgan. Or Roger. She had recognized parts of them in him but he was also different in ways she didn't quite know the full extent of yet.
"I didn't know you could be so cute!" She reached out and scooped them up in her arms. A couple winces and some repositioning were required on Roger's part and she smirked at the little green bug. "Although even like this you're a pain!"
"Har har." He snarked. She smiled and bent down to nuzzle against the two.
"I was worried, about you two. I was worried you'd be like that forever." She confessed quietly as she stood up with them in her arms and began to walk away from the battlefield. It was pretty nervewracking turning her back on Lucemon like that but she saw Morgan watching over her shoulder.
"We'll explain it later." He replied before yawning quietly. She hummed an agreement then turned her attention to everyone else present. From the now rookie Dracmon to Ophelia, to Yuko, and finally to Rasielmon and Lucemon. Her mouth tightened with nerves as she watched them speak to each other, the hair on the back of her neck rising.
She really didn't want to see them go at each other, especially not right now.

Lucemon answered Ophelia's confusion with little more than warm laughter. "Haven't I made it clear by now?" they asked, leaning ever so slightly forward as they addressed the Panjyamon. Their face remained perfectly intact. "I'm perfect." They remained as such, basking in the combined admiration, confusion, and fear of those observing them.
Unfortunately, it seemed this admiration and fear only extended so far. Even as Lucemon geared up for another fight, it was clear that the others wouldn't be having it anymore. MetallifeKuwagamon and Jokah didn't seem to have much of a choice. Their forms faltered, leaving the Demon King a mere pipsqueak and reducing MetallifeKuwagamon to his component parts. The only one of the fighters still standing was Ophelia, and yet she had also agreed to opt out. Immediately, the glee had melted from Lucemon's eyes. "Oh," they said, their looser fighting stance giving way to a more straight, rigid posture. They pursed their lips slightly as they paced around the weary fighters. It was almost as if they were studying them for one last time. "Yes, yes, I suppose that makes sense. I mean, I could energize you all! If you wanted, of course."
"No," Rasielmon chided, voice surprisingly firm. "You heard the incredibly cute Gomamon. They all need a break."
Lucemon sighed. "So be it," they said, the disappointment in their voice hard to hide. They sighed, but in mere seconds the smile returned to their face in force. "Well, if you'd like to rest, then we're resting in style! No ifs, ands, or buts about it!" They ran to the edge of the island and gracefully swan dived off, Rasielmon watching as they slowly shrank into a dot on the horizon.
She opened her mouth to speak, but before she could speak Lucemon came sailing back into the sky. A sweat drop rolled down her head as she watched them gracefully touch down, setting down a suspicious amount of boxes. "How fast did you-?" she started.
"Fast enough."
The island fell silent, Rasielmon coughing awkwardly in an attempt at breaking it. "I don't really like waiting. It's boring," Lucemon explained, smiling sheepishly. At least as the silence lifted, Lucemon revealed what they had brought out: an entire set of pots, pans, and cooking ingredients, along with a few bean bag chairs and a crapton of logs. They tossed the logs into a pile and rubbed their hands together, kicking up a shower of sparks that turned them into a towering inferno. "Now, who's hungry?" they asked, brandishing a frying pan high into the sky.

Once Lucemon suggested that they used their powers to revitalize everyone, Yuko furrowed her pierced brow. Not because she didn’t believe that the great Demon Lord was capable of such a feat, but because the moment she opened her mouth to speak, Rasielmon cut her off and said the very thing that was on her mind; They all needed a break, Digimon and humans alike. The young hooligan’s lips curved into a slight smile, as she turned back to Cassie. “Welp, I guess it’s official. You’re our cute mascot!” She joked to her. What the hay, she also gave the cute little Gomamon-X another head rub. It’s wasn’t her fault she was so pettable! Speaking of cute things, Hiroyo’s insectoid partners had also split apart and devolved into their lower-stage, cuddlier-looking forms, much to the woman’s glee.
In a strange display of kindness, the Demon Lord of Pride offered to cook a meal for the weary combatants, taking a VERY quick trip to retrieve their cooking supplies; Pots, pans, ingredients aplenty and his own bonfire to boot. The only thing that was missing was for Lucemon to wear an apron that said ‘Kiss the cook’! “Okay, is no-one else here concerned about the prospect of eating food that’s gone through the hands of a literal embodiment of evil?” Yuko snarkily pointed out, but she was interrupted by a booming, bestial growl that put even Ophelia’s roar to shame…
It was Dracmon’s stomach.
“Food! Food! Gimme gimme gimme!” The tiny vampire drooled from the mouth and tried to run towards the boxes filled with ingredients, only to be stopped in his tracks by his Tamer, who grabbed him by the scruff of his neck. “Did you not hear what I just said…?” The multicolor-haired delinquent said, only to be interrupted by her own stomach growling. She’d tried not to admit it, but she was feeling pretty hungry too. “Shit… Alright, fine. Barbecue party it is! N-need any help there?” She asked Lucemon, gulping as the innocent bonfire turned into a towering inferno.

For the brief time that Lucemon tried to encourage the fight to keep going, Ophelia had been briefly tense; readied to protect herself or the others, if an attack came in anyone's direction - even as the adrenaline in her body gave way to weariness. Her halflidded eyes were locked on the fallen angel, and both hands were propped up where they were folded, against the end of her Azure Fang - still shaped into a staff.
Much to the surprise of the two sisters, though - as well as relief, especially in Cassie's case - Rasielmon's chiding would be enough to get Lucemon to relent. It was hard to miss the disappointment that they had, over the fight being over; but they appeared to be accepting of it otherwise.
With this, both sisters relaxed visibly; Cassie letting out a rough exhale - a brief flush over her cheeks, at being 'cute' even by Rasielmon - as she rested her head on her front flippers. "Thank goodness.." She'd mumble to herself; briefly tilting her head into Yuko's touch, as her tail slowly and lazily wagged at the petting.
Ophelia, on the other hand, would almost immediately devolve back to Rookie; her Azure Fang returning to that of a simple hilt, as the now-Spadamon briefly stumbled. "Fuck, that was a workout..." She'd murmur softly to herself; just under her breath, as she regained her footing, and made for the group. Her legs, honestly, felt like noodles; but she wasn't about to collapse in the middle of the mess they made fighting Lucemon..!
Instead, Ophelia would proceed to flop against Cassie; barely registering that Lucemon had left for a brief period of time, in the background. No, she was more focused on her sibling, and on snuggling; wrapping her arms around the Gomamon-X.
Cassie could take the sudden weight easily; squeaking softly in surprise, before giggling; reaching up a flipper to comb her claws through Ophelia's mane in an affectionate gesture.
Once Lucemon was back, though, with supplies ahoy - near-immediately starting on a cookingfest - Cassie couldn't help but share Yuko's uncertainty. She wouldn't deny that Lucemon probably knew how to cook lots of delicious meals! But... Could they trust a Demon Lord with food, and have it still be safe to eat...?
... Well, Ophelia's rumbling stomach didn't appear all that picky; the lioness lifting her head just enough to eye Lucemon, and the towering inferno of a cooking fire that they had prepared. "I 'unno if I trust the food to not have some weird Demon Lord-y shit done to it or not, but food does sound good..." She'd mumble; slowly sitting up, so that she could instead have Cassie across her lap - nuzzling her sister, purring still.
Cassie couldn't help another giggle at the nuzzling; returning the favor, her tail wagging with more fervor now. Even though the situation was perhaps a hair awkward, having Ophelia nearby was always comforting! And friends, for that matter, were comforting as well; which meant that the seal was more than eager to glance to the others - Rasielmon, Yuko, Joker, Hiroyo, as well as Roger and Morgan - and call "Do any of you guys wanna come snuggle, while we wait and watch? The more the merrier!"

"Huh," Roger raised his head at the curious sound to look at Hiroyo better. He made a vague questioning sound and trusted her to figure it out. She looked between him and bthe other 'mons a couple times and a smile spread across her face.
"Don't." He grumbled, his voice a high-pitched mockery of what it normally was. Her smile grew wider.
"But Roger-"
"No."
"-you're just so-"
"Stop!"
She broke into laughter. He could feel her chest moving with it and it felt like some of the tension that had been lingering on her face eased. He had an image to maintain but her relief was so palpable and there were so many about all he could do was give her the meanest look he could in his baby form.
A little part of him was happy. Her breath was now coming in fits and starts but her heartbeat was starting to even out compared to the racing pulse it had been when she first picked him up. So he didn't say anything else, just sunk low into his shell and grumbled.
Lucemon's abrupt arrival brought them fully out of their little moment. Hiroyo stared after him then shook her head and wandered back over to pick up her bag. Her attetnion, however, wandered as easily as her mind. Rasielmon could be so stern!
"Uhm, Rasielmon, how is-are your army? I know they got out of the way early on but, well, island tossing." She started. Roger perked up, and his brother on Hiroyo's shoulder did as well. Feeling a bit guilty the two realized they really had not been attempting to keep their stray shots away from the audience that wasn't Rasielmon and the two humans. "There's a lot of damage and-"
Hiroyo broke off as Lucemon reappeared, her words forgotten in favor of gaping at his set up. From brawl to barbeque? Amazing. She shut her mouth as Yuko and Ophelia expressed their doubts about the food and gave an agreeing nod of her head.
"Lucemon does not strike me as the dishonorable sort." Morgan counter. Roger promptly began snickering. His voice was like finding a puddle where one expected a lake, no matter how still or clear it was it was still far less impressive.
"I agree~! Also, hungry. Food-food-food-food-foo-" Hiroyo's hand abruptly cover his beak and he rolled his eyes before giving her a tiny nip. She shook her head then looked over at where Cassie and Ophelia was sitting. Getting off her feet was promising, but she wanted to hear what Rasielmon had to say.
"How about it Rasielmon? You must be tired from protecting us, i mean unless there are other matters you have to attend to." She gestured toward Cassie and Ophelia, swallowing down her own croon of 'awww' at the sight of the sisters sitting. She trusted Morgan and his read on people but she was still relieved when Yuko volunteered to help.

At Yuko's comment, Lucemon's smile vanished. Their face was stony as they turned right towards the girl. The usual warmth had ebbed from their eyes, replaced with a patient, yet undeniable, firmness. "Embodiment of pride," they said. "Pride, not evil." The smile returned right after, so quickly that Lucemon's earlier coldness could've been mistaken for a trick of the light. "Besides, evil is such a broad category, is it not? And for all of my brothers' and sisters' flaws, I'd like to think they still have their good points.
As for me? Well, of course I'm pure evil! But also pure good. Do you really think I'd be the type to stop at half measures?" Their clarification made, Lucemon turned back to their myriad pots and pans. "Oh, by the way, you can totally look ahead to see if there's anything wrong with my cooking. You've had your future vision back for a while now, you know? I totally just wanted to see what you'd do when you thought you were without it."
"You what!?" Rasielmon's eyes widened in shock, the narrowed in anger, before finally settling back to normal with the help of a few evenly-paced breaths. She closed her eyes, waiting in deep focus, before finally opening them. She looked downright puzzled all the while. "They're . . . right?"
"Of course I'm right! Lying and incorrectness are both imperfections I'd rather not be troubled with," Lucemon said. "Now c'mon, go ahead, take a peek. I'm excited to see what I'll come up with!"
"Wouldn't that kill the point?"
"Ah, nonsense," Lucemon said, laughing warmly. "If the food tastes good either way, does it really matter if its been pre-ordained by fate? Besides, if you think about it, aren't all of our actions are predestined one way or another. Were they not, past, present, and future would have no meaning, right? Everything in this reality has happened, is happening, and will happen, at some point or another. And if it were to change, whether by our hand or another's, as if in defiance of fate, would that simply not become the new fate?" Amazingly enough, Lucemon was saying all of this while in mid-saute, barely looking at either the group or the beef, beans, and vegetables that they were currently working into a chili.
Rasielmon looked at them as if they had fifty heads. But, sighing and relenting, she turned away to focus on the future. She rubbed the stress out of her temples, sighing as she eased herself back into the flow of things. "They . . . aren't wrong," Rasielmon said. "No matter how many paths I'm taking along the timestream, I just see them working on this same pot of chili. And I'm pretty sure the only weird Demon Lord-y shit they're adding in is beans. Which I'm pretty sure don't belong in chili."
"What? They're the best part!" Lucemon turned towards Rasielmon, huffing in displeasure. "The added protein, flavor, and texture are simply elements you cannot get by throwing in more ground beef. Besides, what are vegans supposed to have? Soupy vegetables?"
"And I'm pretty sure the peppers are the real focus," Rasielmon said. "Besides, it stopped being vegan as soon as you added meat into it. I don't care how perfect your portioning skills are. You can't un-vegan a meat-based chili after it's already been . . . well . . . meated."
Oh dear. It was this debate again. But the smells coming from Lucemon's pot were already mouthwatering, and if this was the worst thing Rasielmon could take umbrage with there probably weren't any actual sources of freaky Demon Lord bullshit here.
Right?

It looked like things had finally cooled down. Ophelia, after de-Digivolving, was lazily resting against Cassie’s shoulder, Hiroyo and her bugs were having a bonding moment, while Lucemon and Rasielmon were… having a philosophical debate over chili sauce. Indeed, how much stuff could you add to chili before it stopped being chili? Those were questions.
That said, Lucemon had not taken kindly to Yuko calling them an embodiment of evil, when she should have called him an embodiment of pride. Pedantic? No, the Demon Lord was genuinely, menacingly upset about it. It was enough to make the Japanese delinquent gulp. “O-okay, but still… I dunno if you’ve heard of a human book called the Bible, but you’re literally named after its main antagonist, who I’m pretty sure was all about lying and shit.” She retorted, using her limited knowledge of Christian lore.
“Don’t listen to her, Lucy.” Dracmon interjected, slipping out of his Tamer’s grasp, and facing the much bigger Digimon with a cocky grin on his half-concealed face. “Just because you’re a ‘bad guy’ doesn’t mean you’re a bad guy.” “Did you just assume he’s a guy?” “‘Guy’ is a unisex term.” “It objectively isn’t!”
Harmless bantering aside, Lucemon was doing pretty well for themselves while ignoring every single one of Rasielmon’s cooking advice. The wonderful smell of cooked meat and beans soon filled the Empyrean Skies’ holy air. Yuko decided to take Cassie up on her snuggling offer, picking up Dracmon in her arms and sitting cross-legged next to the two arctic Rookies. “So… aren’t we gonna need plates and stuff?” The young Tamer asked.

It seemed that Lucemon was quite testy, about being called an embodiment of evil, as opposed to being called an embodiment of pride. Though Yuko thought it pedantic, Ophelia kind of thought it made sense; pride and evil were pretty different things, even if pride was supposedly a sin, weren't they? She'd seen individuals who were good, but prideful, after all... And Lucemon did indeed look the part of being both 'pure evil' and 'pure good', given their wings - one side of them having wings like an Angemon, and the other side of them having wings like a Devimon...
Cassie would tilt her head curiously at Yuko's retort about a bible, as well as the brief bantering over whether 'guy' was a unisex term, or not, which... Both subjects made her briefly puzzled. "What's a Bible? And what does Lucemon have to do with it...?" She'd question, tilting her head like a curious puppy - though of the two subjects, that was the only one she'd really ask about. The other one just seemed a little subjective to her, even if Yuko claimed that it was objective.
A lot of Lucemon's talk about fate would appear to sort of fly over the sister's heads, though; the most that they'd draw from it being 'shit happens.' Which, really, wasn't wrong - sometimes things indeed just Happened. What they'd focus more on, was the mention that they were making chili. On its own, it made the two sisters curious; wondering if they ever had chili before, though...
... Then came the debate of adding beans to the chili, which only made them further confused! Was Chili supposed to be just meat? Or were beans an important ingredient in it? "I don't think I've ever had chili before, but... Does whether it has beans or not really matter, as long as it tastes good in the end?" Cassie would question, tilting her head a bit.
"Yeah, I'm seconding Cass on this." Ophelia remarked, glancing up in Yuko's direction as she noticed the tamer coming to sit with them. As snuggly as always, Ophelia was more than happy to lean against Yuko; cuddling against her side, as Cassie sprawled across both the Tamer's and lioness' laps, and snuggled up to Dracmon with a wag of her tail.
Certainly, Dracmon was a bit of a weird individual, in Cassie's opinion - but... She thought he was nice, too..!

Quite suddenly the conversation turned into a heated discussion about food and Hiroyo, having seen her fair share of heated food dicussions between the two in her arms, swiftly and quickly backed away to go join the group sitting on the ground.
"I don't know enough to contribute and it sounds like no matter what we are eating chili." She declared as she lowered herself next to the group of rookies. She folded her legs then gently set Roger on the ground. She was content to lean back and listen to the others banter, tilting her head to the side when Yuko brought up plates. She turned and squinted at what Lucemon was rapidly adding to the pot then turned back to the goth-aesthetic tamer with a shrug. "I guess we do need plates? I'm only familiar with chili-dogs and this looks rather different from that just going by the ingredients."
"Of course it is!" Roger called, his voice tiny and high pitched. Hiroyo immediately broke into a goofy smile that she tried to hide behind her fist. She didn't want him to get frustrated more then he already was. "That chili is like, watery meat sauce compared to real chili."
"Where have you two even had real chili?" She asked as Morgan nodded his agreement.
"Isao made some for us when we were watching movies." He said as he repositioned himself on her shoulder. His voice wasn't squeaky like Roger's but it was definately younger sounding than his normal voice. She assuemd it was because of what stage the two were currently at although she was amused by the fact they were
"I'm jealous~" She said with a little extra sing-song tone in her voice. Ophelia and Cassie mentioned it didn't matter if it tasted good and she mentally agreed. As long as it was edible and didn't do anything weird food was food! And she was betting that with how Lucemon approached perfectionism that their cooking was going to be as competent as they were a fighter.
"I'm in agreement and you all look adorable! Shame I can't take a picture." She remarked as Cassie flopped across Yuko and Ophelia's laps. The red head pulled her cap off her head and ran her fingers through her hair before settling the hat back into place. Her scalp itched from the dried sweat earlier but already she felt much better than she had while Morgan and Roger were fused.

"Huh. Think I've read that one," Lucemon mused, humming as they finished up their work. "I mean, if you ask me I'd say the ancient Sumatrans had it the most right. But the Bible gave it a good shot!" They seemed remarkably unsurprised by the directness of the comparison being brought up, which probably opened just as many questions as it settled. Yet, being as remarkably chill as Lucemon was, would that really be such a surprise? A touchier Demon Lord like Leviamon would've probably hit the roof by now!
That said, there was one topic Lucemon drew lines in the sand on. "It" "matters," he and Rasielmon said in near perfect unison. "The simplicity of the dish highlights the meat and the tomatoes. All beans do is leave the flavor muddled and confused. Besides, as the archangel of knowledge, words have definitions for a reason. If we just start using them to talk about whatever we feel like, how can we ever be on the same page?" Was this seriously the topic where soft-spoken newcomer Rasielmon started stepping up to the plate on her authority? Today was just full of surprises.
Another one came as Lucemon produced fine china from their robes, tossing them to their guests with such accuracy and precision that they landed without even making a sound. They were pristine, without even a crack on them. After setting these out Lucemon flew in a strafing run above the plates, scooping out perfectly-portioned servings of chili onto each. Sturdy, evenly-spiced corn chips would be left as serving vessels, as well as forks for anyone who wanted to be boring. After distributing these Lucemon flew down to look at the cuddle pile, holding their fingers up like a square frame. They clicked with their tongue, and a picture slid out from between their fingers.
Yes, that just happened.
They shook the picture to develop it, held it between their fingers, and rolled them together to spread one picture out into several. They handed a copy to each human and Digimon present: pre-autographed, of course. "Luckily for you, I can," Lucemon said to Hiroyo, winking at her as they handed her a photo. Once that was settled they returned to the bonfire, preparing more food now that the initial chili had gone out.
"Well, today certainly hadn't gone as I expected," Rasielmon mused, watching all of this unfold with a small smile on her face. "But . . . I think I can call this one a mission success? I mean, I think Lucemon'll be certainly kept busy for a while."
"No promises!" they called, a mischievous smile on their face as they went back to twirling shish kabobs over the roaring flame. "But so long as I'm sufficiently entertained, I assure you there's nothing to worry about. All that conquest stuff Daemon keeps going on about just sounds so boring to me. I mean, what are you supposed to do when the world's been crushed under your heel, anyway? Crush it again? Yeah, not my style."
"I'm just going to take that as good news. It's easier that way."

The younger Digimon apparently had never heard of the Christian religion before, and asked the human girl to explain it to them. Oh boy, this was touching on a subject almost as sensitive as adding beans to chili sauce! It didn’t help that, as a teenager raised in a mixed Buddhist/Shintoist family, Yuko was really the least equipped to talk about this subject. “W-well, you see… the Bible is this book that humans wrote many years ago to describe God.” She explained, sweating nervously. “You know, this always confused me about humans. Why do you need a book to describe your god? Can’t you just go meet the guy?” Dracmon asked. “Not really… He’s not real. I mean, he is… I think… b-but humans can’t actually see God…” “You worship a god you can’t even see and have a battle with? And I’M the weird one?! Hah!” The vampiric Digimon scoffed at that.
With the group all snuggled up, Yuko graciously took the opportunity to stop talking about touchy matters and pet the adorable Ophelia-kitty instead. “We’re all in agreement. You’re pretty cute- I mean cool! I especially liked the part where you turned into a giant pro wrestling lion!” The teenage Tamer snickered, scratching the Spadamon’s snow-white mane, followed by her chin. Cats liked that, right? Meanwhile, Dracmon was surprised by Cassie’s sudden display of affection, awkwardly raising patting her head with the back of his hand, so as not to hurt his own eyeball. “There, there. Good girl.”
As for the non-binary Demon Lord, they took a picture of that wholesome moment… with their hands… and then made plates appear out of nowhere. The Himura girl’s curiously examined the picture handed to her, as well as the plate filled with freshly-cooked food. “Do all Demon Lords have photo-taking and plate-creating powers? Do YOU have photo-taking and plate-creating powers?” She asked Dracmon. “I’m a Demon King, not a Demon Lord. We’ve been over this. I make my Vilemon slaves do things FOR me!” The tiny vampire replied with a frown of hidden jealousy. “Bah, who cares! Let’s dig in!” He added, grabbing his own plate and messily chowing down the hot, bean-flavored chili. Yuko’s stomach growled once again as she saw her partner eating like a pig. “What the hell, let’s do it!” She nodded, and started eating as well.
