He was taken aback by the sudden grab and subsequent slam to the ground. He groaned, barely able to keep his eyes open from the impact and overall exhaustion. He steadied his breathing and fought to keep his eyes open. Though there was still that fighting spirit in his eyes.
"Do you?" Was Toki's only response when she said 'Gotcha.' Suddenly, a the ground beneath them shifted and rumbled intensely. As Skadi's sword was prepped and ready to run Toki through, a massive wall of earth sprouted between them at the last second, rising into the sky. This would likely result in Toki being able to break from from Skadi's grip and brace near the wall. He clenched his fist, a bright light forming around it as an blade-like shape formed from the light.
Should Skadi's attack impact the wall instead, it would crumble and be blown apart from the sheer power behind the strike as Toki winced from the cold air rushing forward from the blade. The falling rocks, the dust kicking up, and the icy air left behind. It was now or never.
Toki charged through the falling debris and emerged on the other side before swinging their fist in a mighty uppercut, the light blade threatening to dig deep withing Skadi's body should they fail to anticipate this. To add more injury, Toki twisted his arm before pulling the blade out.
Toki would then stagger backwards, breathing rough and exhausted. His eyes seemed blank, like he was barely even able to keep himself conscious. He shook his head and pounded his chest once with a shout before stomping forward into another ready stance, though it was clearly shaky, though his breathing had become steadier and more focused. Though it was clear he was at his absolute limit.
Despite the pain and despite the exhausting, Toki was smiling with pride the entire way through. Not just for himself, but for Skadi. She was an incredible opponent and he would feel sorry for anyone who crossed her path. He felt a good nature within her as well. This fighting spirit. This sheer determination they both shared...it was directed towards good things. If he had to lose today, he was glad it would be against her. However, nothing was decided yet.
----
Toki takes damage from the Beetle Lariat, but forms Earthen Bastion between himself and Skadi in an attempt to break free. He crushes through the remainder of the barrier and attacks with the card ability Twister Saber.
Earthen Bastion: Fortifies an area with a wall of stone that erupts from the ground capable of stopping the full force of an Ultimate level attack. Allies near Lagosmon upon activation of this ability will be protected. Mega attacks are weakened by 50% and anything above bypasses it completely. (3 Turn Cooldown)
Card Ability - Twister Saber: The target Digimon stabs at an opponent, twisting their arm for extra pain.
Cooldowns: Stalagmite Fortress 1/2, Earthen Bastion 0/3

Skadi had been absolutely merciless the second she switched from SilverGrademon to Markhormon, and had been putting on the absolute pressure onto Toki at all times, despite the bleeding and pain. Yet, despite the fact that the Lagosmon was clearly on his last legs, that giant hare wasn't exactly gonna go down so easily. A giant stone wall suddenly emerged out of nowhere, separating both the weary warriors from one another. But it was far too late for Skadi to stop. Her sword plunged deep into the wall like a warm knife through butter, as a blast of cold winds and sharp ice impacted the barrier, shattering it into nothing but pieces. Much to her surprise, the Lagosmon had gone missing, but she could hear footsteps slamming onto the ground. She turned her body to the source of the noise - Toki coming up towards her, ready to stab her with a light-made dagger. She tried to dodge out of the way, but Toki had managed to stab her on her shoulder. Skadi's thick bulk did help to weaken the stab, but it still hurt, as she winced as he twisted the blade within her body before walking back, clearly ready to collapse at any minute. Big mistake. A wide, triumphant grin spread across her face as she started to stomp the floor just as the Lagosmon started to move, causing a powerful earthquake to rumble around the entire arena almost immediately. The bamboo shook like crazy, but barely budged from their position. Toki wouldn't be so lucky, considering the sheer power from the tremor alone if he didn't have an escape plan ready and waiting. And to make matters worse, cracks were starting to form under his feet, the only warning the Lagosmon would get before a 50 meter spire would follow, threatening to skewer Toki had he failed to escape. While all this was going on, Kenny and Skadi glanced at one another. Both of them knew what the other was thinking, and both of them nodded. It was time to finish this. With one last swipe of the last card into the D-Nexus, Skadi felt a surge of electricity flow throughout her body, courtesy of the MegaSeadramon card. She let out an equally triumphant bleat as she shot a thunderbolt out from her forehead up into the sky, before it flew down, aiming for one target - Toki. Skadi is hurt by a Twister Saber to the arm, but the pain is mitigated by Mountaineer by virtue of being a physical attack. She responds by using Spiral Earthquake to cause a powerful earthquake to try and knock him down before Kenny helps to add onto the pain by swiping the MegaSeadramon card through the D-Nexus, allowing her to use Lightning Javelin to try and strike him down in one hopefully final one-two punch to knock Toki out. Spiral Earthquake: A even much more stronger version of Spiral Tremor, Skadi stomps the ground several times to cause a powerful tremor to summon up to 5 spires to attack the enemies (if there is one enemy, then this becomes one huge spire instead), reaching up to 20 meters per spire, or 50 meters for the super spire. While this attack lacks the defence piercing capabilities of Spiral Tremor, it makes up for it with sheer power alone, and a 150 meter radius that causes an earthquake, disorienting all grounded Digimon (allies and enemies) and leaving enemies open to attack. (4 post cooldown) DS-10 Card Name: MegaSeadramon Type: Digimon Rank: Gold Duration: 1 Post Lightning Javelin: The target Digimon fires a lightning bolt from their forehead. Passives:Mountaineer: Markhormon possesses a tough and well-rugged body that has survived even the harshest of winters. This in turn reduces damage from all Ice attacks by 50% and physical attacks by 30%. However, she takes 50% more damage from fire attacks.
Toxic Immunity: Markhormon’s immune system naturally prevents Skadi from suffering poison/corrosion from any attacks/passives, or suffering any ill effects from them (damage, paralysis etc). Likewise, her foamy saliva, if swallowed, or in some cases, rubbed into an affected area of a poison victim, will automatically heal the Digimon of any poison/corrosion effects they may suffer… if they’re willing to use it at all, obviously. If used on an ally, then they have up to 2 poison/corrosion effects lifted from them, and Skadi goes through a 3 turn cooldown period, where she will be no longer immune to effects from poison/corrosion until it finishes. If Skadi digivolves to this form while poisoned/corroding, then she will automatically be cured in the same post. Cooldowns: Stonewall Barricade: 2/3 Snowstorm Geyser: 1/2 Call of the Mountains: 0/2

Toki closed his eyes, clearly knowing this was probably going to be the last exchange of the battle. Either he loses, or he brings her down with him. A power surged within him as his card abilities were granted to him once more since both combatants had just used their last cards. As the ground shook and cracked beneath him, his legs refused to budge. Instead he just grit his teeth and prepared for the inevitable. He stumbled as a spire shot out of the ground and rose high into the air, slamming into Toki's body and carrying him along the way.
"Fight...on...!" He grunted to himself. "You're not done yet..." He told himself as he's flung off the spire, body limp and seemingly down for the count. However, something was approaching Skadi. Sand had pooled beneath her body as they threatened to latch against her body and restrain her movement as she fired off that last card ability.
As the lightning bolt shot towards Toki, he suddenly spun in the air to face Skadi. At the last second, Toki thrust his hands outward as a series of energy blasts shot towards the bolt alongside a barrage of missiles, all trained on Skadi's hopefully restricted form. Whether the blasts would be enough to stop the lightning, Toki didn't know. Either way, his form fell to the ground with a heavy thud. Try as he might, he couldn't stand back up fully. His muscles ached, his breath ragged as he was unable to get it back to normal at this point. Exhaustion had set in. Toki didn't have much fight left in him at all.
He leaned against a bamboo stalk and chuckled weakly, coughing. What a fight. What an absolutely memorable fight. It reminded him that no matter the outcome, he still had so much to learn, but he was proud to have given Skadi a battle she desired.
-----
As Toki is heavily damaged by Spiral Earthquake, he tries to restrain Skadi's movements with Sand Shackles before countering her Lightning Javelin with Magna Missiles.
Sand Shackles: Conjures streams of sand to latch onto foes in an area and weigh them down, substantially hindering their movement for 2 turns. (3 turn cooldown.)
Card Ability - Magna Missiles: The target Digimon launches a volley of missiles and energy blasts at their opponent.
Cooldowns: Stalagmite Fortress 2/2, Earthen Bastion 1/3

Kenny would find all 7 of his cards re-energised once again a few moments after he swiped the MegaSeadramon card. Having used up all possible assigned cards for the round, the stack would refresh once again, ready for use, and just as well too. After Skadi had sent Toki flying from the massive spire, which itself was now retreating underground once again, leaving no lasting impression on the arena, mounds of sands slowly gathered around her feet. She didn't seem to notice. She was cheering, and so was Kenny. They were going to be moving on.
Or so they thought. As the lightning bolt flew towards Toki, it disappeared into nothingness thanks to several rounds of energy shot from his palms. All of a sudden, a mass barrage of bullets were flying directly towards Skadi. She tried to move out of the way, but her feet were jammed. She knew she couldn't escape, so, holding her sword out in front of her, she shut her eyes, waiting for the end...
Only to open them again when she heard another barrage of missiles and beams of energy emitted from her sword fly over from her side as well, aiming to intercept Toki's missiles in turn. She turned to Kenny, who was waving the MagnaGarurumon card happily, having just freshly swiped it himself, before turning to Toki, who had fainted apparently. As the projectiles met in mid-air, they exploded upon contact, like fireworks. Tiny bits of debris fell from the sky, and cinders rained down onto the arena, before dying and fading away. It was beautiful, and the Markhormon just chuckled, sheathed her sword, and crossed her arms, her exhaustion starting to catch up with her.
From afar, Kenny was cheering excitedly, his fists high up in the air, and beads of sweat covering his forehead. They won. They knew they won. Their teamwork had paid off well. But Skadi was still set upon Toki, her opponent, who was now resting upon the bamboo. Besides, the poor kid had enough. She called to the fallen Lagosmon, "Great battle, Toki. You really gave me a run for my money there!" she called out, a lack of sarcasm or malice apparent in her voice.
Skadi is saved from the barrage of missiles from her own round of Magna Missiles intercepting them. She makes no attempt after that to attack Toki any more. Both of them are done now.

Toki crossed his legs and pressed his fists together in a sort of meditative trance, some of the pain and weariness fading but he was definitely going to be feeling this later. He leaned back against the bamboo and sighed heavily, laughing after the adrenaline had all worn off. The battle was over. It's been a while since he had such a rush and ended a fight with a positive experience. All that was left was to hear the final decision on which of them won overall. Though at this point that mattered little to him. This battle more than made up for him being pushed up a bracket.
He smiled warmly as Skadi called out to him. He weakly waved towards her "You're telling me! It's been a long time since I fought someone as skilled as you in a one on one fight. That was incredible!" He complimented her from the bottom of his heart. A good sport too. He focused and reverted back to his human form, his energy spend and his body aching. "Ah, wow...I'm going to be feeling that everywhere in the morning."
He took the time to appreciate the field of battle they were in. "What a wonderful place to battle and rest afterwards...I wonder if I should tend to a bamboo grove at the monastery..." he mused to himself before looked up at the sky and closing his eyes for a moment.
When he opened them again, he said "Be sure to thank Kenny. His timing and card use was superb. Neither of us could have asked for better abilities for our fighting styles."

While Skadi was still standing (albeit her feet still entrapped in the mounds of sands), there was no doubt that she was clearly exhausted from the battle, and clearly, this was nowhere near as vicious as. She was heavily panting and her body was aching badly. No doubt that battle put quite the toil on her body. But she smiled a genuine smile as Toki complimented her back. It almost made all this pain worth it. Almost.
As the sand started to lighten and slide down her feet up while Toki reverted back to normal, so too the Markhormon would glow a bright white once again, shrinking down before being buried by the sand along with the white. Only just a moment later, her tiny Mallimon form would pop out, shaking off a majority of the sand stuck in her wool, before letting out a loud, audible yawn. Her form looked quite roughed up, her wool dirty, and her body limping. Kenny, his heart still racing and his legs feeling like having been transformed to jelly, would subsequently run over to her and pull her out of the sand pile, the Mallimon letting out a surprised squeak as he picked her up, before letting out a much happier squeal as Kenny cuddled her close to his chest, whom she nuzzled back in turn.
The young tamer was crying tears of joy as he held his partner close to him, which the Mallimon could easily feel drop onto her boy, "Oh, Skadi. I- I can't believe it. You did great, pal. I'm so proud of you." He sobbed, tightning his grip on Skadi..
"Don't be." Skadi giggled in response, keeping up the nuzzles, "If there's anyone who you should be proud of, it's the both of us. We did this together. I..." Kenny quickly pulled away to see the Mallimon looking up at him, "I honestly couldn't do it without you, buddy."
Welp, that hit him out of nowhere. Kenny's face burned a bright red and he started to gape, startled. He really didn't know what to say here. As far as he was concerned, it was Skadi who did all the work here. But still, he still felt a pang of gratefulness inside of him, as he smiled at his partner, who had resumed her nuzzling, "Thank you, Skadi." He simply said, smiling and rubbing his partner's head, who let out a happy squeak in response and rubbed his hand with her own head.
Toki's call for Skadi to compliment Kenny for her work, however, brought her and Kenny back to the here and now. As Kenny walked over to the resting Toki, he looked around the battlefield around him; rock shards scattered everywhere, the crater from the beginning from the battle, ashes from the light bombs, a V seared on the ground, some of the bamboo suffering some damage., it was a mess. He was surprised that he managed to not even get a scratch from all that.
Upon reaching Toki, he looked a little flustered, a far cry from the chipper but tired Skadi, as he rubbed the back of his head in embarrassment, "Oh, um... I'm not that great, man. Skadi used those cards well, I just swiped them through my D-Nexus and let her do most of the work, if we're being honest here." He explained.
"Don't be silly, Kenny!" Skadi giggled in glee, "Toki's right! Your card use was suburb! You actually managed to impress him with your skills!"
"Uh, well, anyways, Toki, when we get out, we can take you to Ramona to get her to heal you and Skadi," He offered to the spirit user, "You's two got roughed up pretty badly. But Ramona's quite good; she can help you alleviate the pain for you, at least." He wasn't wrong; watching the battle was quite the intense experience, and these 2 combatants had really gone hard at each other.
Skadi chipped in her own two cents on the matter, "Sorry I won't be able to heal you properly, Toki. But I don't really have any healing abilities to call my own, if I'm being honest, and besides, I'm getting a little tired, and..." Suddenly, Skadi had started dozing off in Kenny's arms. Understandable. SilverGrademon and Markhormon took a lot of energy to keep up alone, and all that intense battling certainly didn't help either.
