The Virtual Tournament - Round 2 - Card Challenge [6]

Owen supposed he should have seen this coming. He had used the Imperialdramon card himself, so he should not be surprised that Ophelia would use it too. And be resourceful enough to use it when he was in such a vulnerable position.
The only act Owen could possibly do to reduce the damage was to lean back in order to decrease the angle of contact. Logic had it that if a projectile hit something at a direct 90 degree angle, then its full force would be delivered directly into that. Owen would likely go out of that very badly if he were to let that happen. However, if struck at a sloped angle, then only part of the full force would be delivered into the target.
With Owen's jetpacks needing to recover from the Wild Onslaught, preventing him from making a sharp evasive maneuver as he would have wanted; plus simply cutting power would mean the Positron Laser would simply hit him in the face instead and cause even more severe injury. Furthermore, blocking it with his hands would likely smash them to pieces, preventing him from being able to seriously attack again. Owen responded to this by swinging his legs forward and his head backward, positioning himself to best receive the incoming attack, aiming to receive the blow on the metal plate across his chest at a 45° angle, and he braced.
The attack struck him hard, momentarily clouding him with a blast of energy and smoke. The mega level attack would make him feel that for days. In fact, to his dismay, the attack had almost melted through the heavy digizoid plate that he wore in front of his chest, and thus gave him no choice but to discard it, the sash dropping onto the ice below in a smoldering, warped pile of metal and canvas.
For a moment, the shock was such that power was cut from Owen's jetpacks for a moment, but, he steeled himself. From behind the screen of smoke, Ophelia would once again hear a loud, haunting howl. And soon after, speeding through it, his yellow eyes now red again, flying just as hard and fast as he had been at the start of the battle. He changed his trajectory as he closed in on her as she jumped from platform to platform. He returned to close range with Ophelia, the fur around his chest hardening and lengthening into long, sharp spines, then launched a flurry of needles toward her in an attempt of suppressing fire in an attempt to prevent her from properly defending herself from his strike - aiming a sharp, fast jab at her, aiming at her torso.
Owen is struck at a sloped angle by Positron Laser. The attack destroys the digizoid plate that he wears in front of his chest as a sash and causes a strong amount of damage on top of that, but Owen is not yet critically injured.
Owen uses Lunatic High on himself.
Lunatic High - Owen howls wildly, unleashing the power of the Nature Spirit within. For 3 turns, his strength and speed are increased by 30%, at the cost of him growing a very 'berserker' style mentality where he has to make efforts to stop attacking. [Cooldown: 3 turns].
Owen uses Togemon's to use Needle Spray in order to cover for a melee basic attack to close in on Ophelia.
JT-09 Card Name: Togemon Type: Digimon Rank: Silver Duration: 1 Post Needle Spray: The target Digimon's hair, feathers or scales grow sharp and tough, and are fired at the opponent in rapid succession.
Emergency Bolster cooldown: 1/3 posts. Wild Onslaught cooldown: 1/3 posts. Lunatic High duration: 1/3 posts.
All cards used: Resetting next turn.

There was something thrilling, in being able to let off the Positron Laser, and have it land. Admittedly, before, using Conquest had similar excitement; though she never did get a payoff from that, since she hadn't been able to properly hit Owen with it. But this? The smell of smoke in the air - of burnt metal and fur - was but one testament to the damage that the powerful attack had left on her opponent, and it made her wonder. Would combat at Mega stage have that same feeling, but consistently? The same level of visceralness that the cards provided? It was hard to say, for sure - and Ophelia would only have so long to ponder over this, as she made her way across the icefloes to the more-intact glacier beyond. A haunting howl that echoed over the waters would be testament to this, and Ophelia was quick to prepare herself; having a good idea of what to expect from Owen, even if she couldn't see him thru the veil of smoke beyond. By the time he would fly after her - so as to come back into close quarters - Ophelia would have braced herself and dig her claws into the ice; knowing better than to try and outrun the MachGaogamon. First, came the Needle Spray. Ophelia would have one of her arms brought up in a block to avoid getting a faceful of needles - that certainly wouldn't be fun, after all. She could still feel the stinging pain as the rest of her body was peppered with them, though- the spray being too wide to easily dodge. Ophelia had a distinct feeling that this wasn't the end of it, though; given that Owen was getting up close and personal, despite Needle Spray being a decently ranged attack...! And, much as she guessed, Owen would continue to press closer, and attempt to strike at her with a sharp jab towards the torso..! Ophelia was quick to try and dodge it - attempting to sidestep to avoid the incoming jab. However, Ophelia was still adjusting to this increased speed of Owen's - and as a result, the jab would still strike into her shoulder. The impact would make Ophelia hiss softly, especially as the strike jostled a couple of the bruises and aches that she was accumulating over the course of the fight. This wouldn't stop her from retaliating, however; the Panjyamon lashing out with a kick at Owen to try and force him to briefly back off - following it up with a leap backwards towards another icefloe! Much like how Owen had a second attack up his sleeve, though, so would Ophelia. Mid-leap, it would quickly become apparent that a familiar looking pair of mechanical wings would be forming on Ophelia's back; as she drew upon her last card, the RizeGreymon card. Similar to how Owen used it before, Ophelia would be using RizeGreymon's Rising Destroyer - letting off a spread of multiple lasers! She would aim low, then sweep it upwards - trying to make it difficult for Owen to properly dodge it, and unafraid of hitting the ice behind him; given that it was, at this point, just fragmented icefloes that would be caught up in the whirlpool in the center of the battlefield before long. Once that was settled though, Ophelia would return to her trek towards the glacier; vaulting and leaping up to safer ground, and all the whilst letting the seaspray and frost settle over her fur as she finally - once more - used Frost Veil upon herself.
- Ophelia is struck by Needle Spray, and is struck in a glancing blow by the followup jab - In retaliation, Ophelia strikes out at Owen with a kick, and then uses RizeGreymon's Rising Destroyer! - Finally, Ophelia uses Frost Veil as she reaches solid(ish) ground. - Tempo reaches 5 stacks Move Used:[ABILITY; RAM] Frost Veil: A layer of frost freezes over Ophelia's fur/armor, hardening it and protecting her from outside effects. For 2 turns, she gets a 50% defense increase, and is protected from both naturally-occurring environmental/field effects, and environmental/field effects produced thru moves. [3 Turn Cooldown] Card Used:DR-13 Card Name: RizeGreymon Type: Digimon Rank: Gold Duration: 1 Post Rising Destroyer: The target Digimon fires a wide spread of heat lasers at its foe. Passives[PASSIVE] Prominence Native: Having particularly thick and fluffy fur - even by Panjyamon standards - and having been raised in the coldest parts of Prominence, Ophelia has increased durability against ice/cold-based attacks.
[PASSIVE; RAM] Tempo: Ophelia is a scrapper who prefers getting up close and personal - and the more she fights, the easier it gets for her as she gets into the rhythm of it. For each turn that she makes a direct melee attack, she gains 1 stack of Tempo at the end of that turn - and for each turn that she doesn't make a melee attack, she loses 1 stack of Tempo at the end. She gets a 6% attack and accuracy increase for each stack she gets, capping at 30% attack and accuracy at 5 stacks.
[PASSIVE; RAM GIGA] Lionheart: Ophelia is stubborn, willful, and passionate - especially in the heat of battle. Those who try to influence her mind or emotions find it difficult to overcome this side of her - and more often than not, she powers thru from sheer will, and the sheer anger at someone trying to control her like such. As a result, she is highly resistant - if not outright immune - to effects that influence her mind, emotions, or disposition, such as mind control, taunts, rage, fear, or pacification- unless she allows another digimon to influence her in this way. Owen felt the punch connect with a feeling of triumph, but of course this was countered by a nasty kick in response. The kick hit him in the torso, and without the digizoid plate there, the attack was surprisingly sharp. If he had been about to use his Howling Cannon attack it would have winded him if he had attempted it, so he did not strike using that option.
Furthermore, Ophelia struck further with yet another card, and he recognized it as one he had used himself. Owen knew better than to stick around, his jetpack bursting with blue fire as he regained altitude.
Damn! If it wasn't for that Rising Destroyer, Owen would have flown in to close range to continue his attack, but he was already smoldering from the Positron Laser. He would have to do his best to fly backward so that he could more easily evade the heat lasers that were flying up at him. Ophelia had aimed her attack cleverly enough so that he was struck at least twice, once on the shoulder and once on his leg, but not nearly as much hits as he would have taken if he had kept to a direct range like that. He flew once again to a height of 100 feet, determining that to be the height where he could safely both watch Ophelia to see what her next move would be, and to get enough time to react to her next move.
But even though he was still out of range for his close-up attacks, that didn't mean that he couldn't strike back in the same way. Ophelia was aiming upwards with her Rising Destroyer, the heat beams simply dissipating into the sky if they missed. Owen meanwhile was aiming in a completely different trajectory. Those that didn't hit the Panjyamon would strike the ice below. And when the ice was gone, there would only be water; not a good prospect for a digimon that couldn't fly.
Indeed, Owen knew by now that beating her would not be that easy. In fact if he did think that, he wouldn't have been much of a soldier, especially a Recon captain. But he knew that in direct combat like this, often the best option was to take away the opponent's options. Even if at first they're stronger; they could still be constricted. Make their winning moves harder to pull off, and their losing moves easier to fall into. A good officer knew how to do this, and Owen hoped to heck that he still had that part of him intact after all these years.
And thus, Owen counter-attacked. Still stinging from the pain of the Positron Laser as well as the Rising Destroyer's beams, he forced himself onward, his glowing red eyes indicating fiercely that he was still in the fight. And so, great metal red wings once again formed on his shoulders, then aimed a bombardment of heat lasers down upon Ophelia, strafing her and the ice below, the jets on his backpack blazing as he maneuvered through the air, 100 feet above.
But that wasn't all. Once again, Owen spun his right mechanical fist, gaining momentum for the move that he planned next.
Owen is struck by the kicking counter-attack and two beams of the Rising Destroyer as he gains altitude of 100ft in an attempt to evade.
Owen charges Winning Knuckle.
Winning Knuckle - Owen draws his fist back, the cyber power fist beginning to spin, then aims a heavy punch at the enemy. If he chooses to do so, Owen can 'charge' his attack by spending 1 post increasing the spinning momentum, then punches the next turn. If he does that, not only is its power increased by 50%, it can pierce through any active defensive barriers that the target may have set up.
Owen bombards Ophelia and the ice below with Rising Destroyer.

As Ophelia's attacks landed, the Panjyamon couldn't help her own feeling of triumph; a pleased rumble rising up from her throat. They were both getting beat up, but she was still plenty able to remind him that she had plenty of fight left in her - that she wasn't about to give up easily. Furthermore, she would be intrigued to - passingly, in the back of her mind - recognize that the cards that she had used before were back... So she could use them all all over again, hm? She had some ideas, with that... ... Those ideas would have to wait, though; seeing as Owen was about to use a card of his own! Given that they both had used Rising Destroyer once before, Ophelia would be able to clearly see what was coming next from a mile away; already on the move to try and avoid the coming heat lasers that would gouge into the ice beneath, as Owen began to strafe overhead. However, Ophelia didn't have as much luck as Owen did before, in this endeavor. Between the increased speed of the strafing, and the numerous lasers, Ophelia would still be struck by a few; hissing sharply as the heat would burn into her fur, and the skin beneath. Even with her Frost Veil to soften the blow, it hurt like a bitch, on top of all the other attacks that she had been taking! And the ice itself would be left with deep gouges; not quite enough to split it apart, but certainly enough to weaken that portion of the glacier. As a result, Ophelia wasn't keen on waiting for whatever attack would come next; already seeing the way that Owen's fist was beginning to spin, much like before. Well, if he was going to be preparing for a big attack, then she might as well go in for a big attack of her own...! Being quick to go onto the offensive whilst Owen was charging, Ophelia would begin to leap upwards; using Frozen Dragoon once more...! There was no Conquest to pen Owen in this time - but Ophelia was untroubled by this, instead simply focusing on building inertia, on getting in close to Owen, and on changing her weapon's shape to the same sort of spear that she had used before; the strange cross between a Corseque or Chauve-souris and a Spetum. In a way, the way that she would maneuver around Owen was comparable to his own Wild Onslaught; though the biggest difference would be in the fact that, whereas his Wild Onslaught was multiple small strikes... ... Ophelia's Frozen Dragoon was one large strike, and quite the hard-hitting one at that. Banking on her increased attack and accuracy for this strike, Ophelia would change courses once her inertia was where she wanted it; her claws briefly digging into one of the multiple suspended ice platforms that she had formed, before she would practically throw herself at Owen, her spear readied to strike into him! Regardless of whether she missed or not though, Ophelia would be quick to follow up; not about to let Owen relax too easily. Using one last platform, Ophelia's Azure Fang was changing yet again - into what appeared to be a sword... A rather familiar-looking sword, at that; the crystals not being that of ice, but more of white-hot energy. Like that of Imperialdramon's Splendor Blade, in fact! Instead of conjuring an entirely new blade for this attack, she had shaped her Azure Fang to suffice for it; and was now throwing herself at Owen one more time, in an attempt to stab him with it; hoping to damage his jetpack, or otherwise knock him out of the sky, or the fight altogether!
- Ophelia is struck with a few beams from Rising Destroyer, and the ice below has been damaged and weakened - though is not entirely bisected quite yet. - Not about to let Owen think he's safe up in the air, Ophelia uses Frozen Dragoon and Imperialdramon's Splendor Blade in tandem - attacking him first with a spear from one angle, and then with the Splendor Blade from another! Move Used:[ATTACK] Frozen Dragoon: Ophelia charges at the foe - producing suspended ice platforms underneath her feet to leap off of and maneuver thru the air as necessary - before using the built up inertia to slam into the foe with devastating strength! Though this does not affect her dodge rate, it can be used to flavor her dodge, to re-position herself, or to extend her reach to flying foes as necessary. [2 Turn Cooldown] Card Used:DR-15 Card Name: Imperialdramon Type: Digimon Rank: Platinum Duration: Splendor Blade: The target Digimon slices with a white-hot energy blade. Passives:[PASSIVE] Prominence Native: Having particularly thick and fluffy fur - even by Panjyamon standards - and having been raised in the coldest parts of Prominence, Ophelia has increased durability against ice/cold-based attacks.

From his vantage point, Owen could see very well from where Ophelia was coming from. Furthermore, he had seen her Frozen Dragoon attack in action before, and quickly moved in midair as she approached, constantly shifting his position with the increased speed and power of his jetpack to keep her guessing where he would be. He used this method just to see how well she could maneuver in this attack, and was quite impressed at how quick she was to adjust to him.
Therefore he would have to put everything he had into his next move. It may exhaust him, but she was coming at him with something that could knock him out if he wasn't careful. Owen took a deep breath to brace himself for the next bout of aerial combat. The cards were now back in play too, so he would have to be prepared for that as well. The Imperialdramon card was the most threatening to him currently. He didn't think he could take another hit.
Ophelia had shaped her weapon into yet another fearsome polearm. But this time, Owen had no intention of letting it strike him. His Winning Knuckle still spinning; gathering momentum, the MachGaogamon braced to maneuver. If she struck high, he would cut his jetpacks and fall below the strike. If she struck low, he would flip in midair over the weapon. Because of the height advantage, it would only be an incredibly skilled feint that could catch him off guard here, especially with the increased speed given to him by Lunatic High.
Thus, when Ophelia lunged straight at him, Owen found his best evasive move would be to cut his jetpack engines for just one moment. It would make him move faster than if he attempted to fly over it - gravity doing its work as he ducked under the blow, the ice weapon still caused a nasty nick through his left ear though, that was how close the blow was. But then Ophelia followed up with what he had feared - using Imperialdramon's Splendor Blade.
It was all Owen could do to counter it with the same attack of his own. Using his left hand, an energy blade formed and would clash with Ophelia's strike. This wasn't to his advantage. Owen was naturally right-handed, so using such a weapon with his left meant that his counter-strike was slightly weaker, but not quite strong enough to break through his defense. It hurt like hell though, he gave a fearsome growl to get himself through it.
Then, when that was done, Owen would at last show Ophelia what would happen if he charged up his Winning Knuckle. Blue light was beginning to emanate from his fist, sparks flying, then with a final, primal snarl, Owen lunged his right fist forward, his jetpack bursting at full power to propel him forward, aiming at Ophelia's torso.
Owen does his best to evade Frozen Dragoon using the speed boost from Jetpack Flight and Lunatic High, but Ophelia manages to make a nasty cut on his left ear.
Owen uses Imperialdramon's Splendor Blade with his left arm to counter Ophelia's Splendor Blade. As it is his non-dominant arm, it still hurts him to do so in this manner, but escapes taking direct damage.
Owen releases his charged Winning Knuckle attack at Ophelia.

The two swords would clash roughly and loudly - clanging as they met in the middle. Ophelia couldn't help but make a somewhat frustrated growl at the idea of the attack having not landed as she hoped; though it was clear that it still hurt nonetheless, going off of the growl that Owen would elicit in the impact. Once it had all resolved though, gravity would take hold once more, and Ophelia would allow herself to begin to descend down towards the ice... Or, at least, that's what would happen if Owen hadn't decided to act then and there. It quickly became apparent that, unlike last time, Owen hadn't stopped charging his Winning Knuckle attack. And with it having had a chance to properly charge? Well, it was safe to say that things were going to hurt. However, Ophelia had a plan. As a feline, she could've theoretically twisted her body about in mid-air, in an attempt to at least turn a direct blow into a glancing blow; but she didn't. Instead, as Owen came in to strike at her, the Panjyamon would face it head-on; making no attempt to dodge it, and in fact, using this as an opportunity to grab at Owen! As the fist would collide into her torso, Ophelia would make an almost choked snarl in the MachGaogamon's ear; the wind clearly knocked out of her. Thankfully, the remaining layer of frost from her Frost Veil did well in protecting her from the initial brunt of the blow; her fur feeling less like fur, and more like trying to punch frozen earth, with how it was frozen together. It still was leaving her hurting, though; Ophelia was unsure of how much more of this combat that she could take, although she would try to keep fighting until she couldn't any longer. And assuming that Ophelia was able to remain grappled? Ophelia would allow her Azure Fang to change in shape yet again, to that of something small and simple; a razor-sharp and curved dagger, resembling that of a Karambit. In a use of Lionbreaker, Ophelia would attempt to stab Owen in the back - or, more specifically, his jetpack - in an attempt to damage it and make it more difficult for Owen to fly properly; hopefully leaving him open to further attacks from her. Once the attack was made, Ophelia would - in quick succession - call upon Duftmon's card, and kick off of Owen, in an attempt to allow herself to safely descend to the ice below. Those same glowing mines of Conquest from before would, once more, come off of Ophelia. But, instead of trying to pen Owen in, she would be attempting to strike him with the mines; hoping that between their close quarters, the mines' numbers, Owen's possibly handicapped speed, and her own tempo, that she'd have better luck in striking him with this attack. And if she did strike him, she certainly hoped that she would be able to end the fight sooner rather than later...
- Ophelia allows herself to be struck head-on by Winning Knuckle, so that she can grapple Owen; though she is hurting, despite the damage reduction of Frost Veil. - Whilst grappling Owen, she attempts to use Lionbreaker on his jetpack, to try and damage it + hamper his speed. - Once Lionbreaker resolves, Ophelia kicks off of Owen whilst using Duftmon's Conquest in a direct attack. - Frost Veil wears off Move Used:[ATTACK] Lionbreaker: Using preferably a weapon with a bladed edge, Ophelia stabs or swings the weapon at a limb of her choice - aiming to temporarily hinder the foe. Ophelia can choose to strike at an enemy's claws/arm to reduce their attack by 25% for 2 turns, or to strike at an enemy's legs or wings to reduce their speed by 25% for 2 turns. Owen's now yellow eyes widened as Ophelia made no attempt to dodge his fully charged Winning Knuckle. His mechanical hand attempted to drill into her, but the Frost Veil was doing its job in hardening her fur. Still, he could see the pain in her face, hear the roar. But he didn't savour it. In fact, it made him more wary of what would come next.
And what came next was Ophelia using this as a chance to grapple him, keeping him close for what seemed to be her next attack. Owen knew he had to get away as quickly as possible. Thus, when his Winning Knuckle was finished, he would kick hard at her until he would break free. But not in time that he could evade her next attack - Lionbreaker.
While she had aimed to reach around his back and stab his jetpack with it, which would be critically bad for him if he had allowed it, instead he blocked it with a kicking blow from his left leg. The dagger-like ice weapon easily tore through his trousers and into the blue furred flesh of his leg underneath. Owen howled in agony at the pain, it was terrible. Yet still, he had to persevere. He was so close to victory, he could almost smell it. Yet Ophelia was close to it as well. She would have his respect for that.
Owen's leg had taken the hit for him, but his jetpack was still active. And thus Owen's next move would be to thrust himself away from Ophelia, data bleeding from his leg, knowing he would need to stay in flight to remain combat effective. But then, Ophelia followed that up with the Conquest Mines of the Duftmon Card, and she was using them to attack him!
The MachGaogamon knew it would be over if he collided with them. But as they were emitted, he flew hard to try and avoid them. It was easier to do so seeing that they were meant to be a defensive rather than offensive move. There was a close call with some of them, but with a brief dive from 80 feet to 40 feet, Owen escaped making contact, and remained hovering in the air over the whirlpool, panting. Now in a critical condition, he needed to make his next moves count.
Growling with determination, Owen too drew from the power of the Duftmon card, this time repeating his attack from earlier - summoning bedrock from the ocean floor below, aiming directly upward at the ice that Ophelia was aiming to land upon. The Vulcan Crusher. Soon, large, sharp blades of rock would smash upwards through the ice, aiming to strike Ophelia. He knew she would likely use her now familiar agility to use them somehow, but he had to keep attacking.
Then, Owen turned attention to himself, once again, green light shining over him. His Emergency Bolster nulled the pain in him a little, particularly his leg wound from Lionbreaker (but not removing its effects) and the burning pain from Positron Laser. While the Panjyamon opponent was still formidable, he was determined to stay in this, for just a little longer. His position was 30ft above the whirlpool, roughly 70ft away from the ice Ophelia was located at.
Owen uses a kicking melee attack to break Ophelia's grapple and prevent her from aiming at his jetpack. However, his leg gets in the way, and Lionbreaker strikes it instead, causing damage and reducing his land speed.
Owen flies away as hard as he can from Ophelia's Conquest mines, using Jetpack Flight to evade the spheres as they're launched.
Owen uses Duftmon's Vulcan Crusher to once again break the ice from under Ophelia and aim to strike her.
NS-18 Card Name: Duftmon Type: Digimon Rank: Chrome Digizoid Duration: 1 Post Vulcan Crusher: The target Digimon sends pillars of bedrock crashing through the ground.
Owen uses Emergency Bolster on himself, healing a moderate amount of damage and increases his defense slightly.
Emergency Bolster - Owen raises his power fists so the yellow light turns green, sending a green ray of energy over himself or an ally. The effect of this heals a moderate amount of damage, and also increases their defense by 25% for 2 turns. [Cooldown: 3 turns]

The kicking would be somewhat awkward, given the portion of Owen's body that she was clinging to, and her comparatively small size. It was closer to kneeing and flailing, though Ophelia seemed to more or less tough it out; claws digging into the MachGaogamon for grip, for long enough for her to attempt to strike at his jetpack... Though, the bucking rodeo that was Owen would be just able to knock her off, the dagger that she was using tearing into his leg instead as they both parted; the Conquest mines sure to follow. As she landed on the ice beneath, Ophelia could see as Owen was starting to move, trying to duck and dodge and weave amongst the mines... And succeeding, despite the circumstances...! Ophelia couldn't help but curse a couple times under her breath - though wasn't about to dwell upon it for long, instead getting a move on. Even if Owen was all the way over there, over the whirlpool... That just meant that a ranged attack of some form was coming... Indeed; as she made her way back towards the more damaged portions of the ice, a rumble beneath her feet and a crash from behind her would only confirm this. Owen was using Duftmon's card again, to that terrifying efficiency. Already, the ice beneath her feet was beginning to heave somewhat; the only things allowing her to keep her balance being her time spent up in the mountains, in slippery conditions such as this, as well as her feline sense of balance. Her tail twisted and lashed in an attempt to maintain that aforementioned balance, as she began to stay on the move; trying to avoid the rising pillars. She would even, at one point, use her Ice Buckler against a couple close calls from the pillars; leaving the damage mitigated and minimal, though her arm surely sore. But, with the rising pillars, the ice would end up being broken up into chunks once more; only a portion - perhaps a third or a half, Ophelia wasn't good at visualizing that stuff and she wasn't about to check - of her own glacier remaining, from the opposite end of the glacier from where she was. She herself would be forced to make do with one of the larger broken-up chunks, the ice bobbing and swaying side-to-side beneath her from the currents of the water, as well as from the crashing waves brought on by the Vulcan Crusher. It'd take her a second to wait for the attack to properly end, and for the waves to cease and let her rest, before she would turn her direction back to Owen. The MachGaogamon seemed to be hovering out over the whirlpool; a dangerous place for him, but it certainly was a dangerous place for her, too. Certainly something she didn't want to try to be cheeky with right now; not with what safe ground she had shrinking away. Instead, she would make use of the RizeGreymon card; that same Rising Destroyer attack. Unlike the last time she used it - where she aimed low, then swept up... Ophelia would aim above Owen, and then sweep the lasers downwards; trying to force him closer to the whirlpool, or to otherwise just strike him in general.
- Ophelia is struck by a couple basic jabs; but toughs it out, until Owen manages to throw her off. - She, then, more-or-less avoids Vulcan Crusher; using her Ice Buckler to mitigate damage from a couple of close calls. - Ophelia then uses RizeGreymon's Rising Destroyer; aiming above Owen, then sweeping the lasers downwards, in an attempt to force him closer to the whirlpool - or otherwise strike him in general. - Tempo drops to 4 stacks Move Used:[ABILITY] Ice Bucklers: Ophelia forms 1-2 shields made of ice on her arms, which she can choose to use to block an incoming attack. The shields, together, can completely block up to 2 Ultimate-level attacks before shattering, or block 50% of a single Mega attack before shattering instantly. Owen was momentarily taken aback by just how stubbornly Ophelia was maintaining her grip on him. For a moment, it looked like she would succeed in her aim to stab at his jetpack, but the MachGaogamon was tenacious enough to push her off at the last moment, so that the damage was done to his leg instead. He doubted he'd be able to walk straight for a few days after that.
Then, Owen watched as the Vulcan Crusher did its business. Again, ordinarily he'd be surprised by just how strong Ophelia managed herself in that onslaught, but he knew that alone would not be enough to stop her. His only way to win here would be to outlast her. And with his Emergency Bolster in effect, he thought that was now possible.
The worst of his wounds temporarily mended, at least keeping away the dark shadows at the edge of his periphery vision, the Recon Captain would resume the battle. It seemed Ophelia's next action would be to use a ranged attack - her Rising Destroyer aiming from a different angle. Owen knew that to win here, he'd have to close in and fire. But with his defenses bolstered and his wounds healed, he thought he could make the risk.
This time, Ophelia aimed above him, then swept her fire downward, seeming to aim to catch him in the curtain of fire lasers. To counteract this, Owen's jetpacks burst to full, but not as full as they would normally be due to the ending of his Lunatic High, plus the ongoing pain he felt in his legs. Thus, he was struck by four lasers. Three in his torso, which made the burning of the Positron Laser return.
Still, he would persevere, and he would close back in on Ophelia. At first it looked like he was preparing for a melee attack, but at 40 feet, he suddenly opened his mouth and fired a jet of white light at her - using the KendoGarurumon card to utilize its Lupine Laser.
Then, as he closed in to 10 feet, Owen would roar once again, this time barking a burst of discordant soundwaves that aimed to disrupt Ophelia's data once more in his Howling Cannon attack, aiming to use the proximity of the strike following the Lupine Laser strike to land a blow. Surely there was a limit to just how much this Panjyamon could endure? He halted his advance for now, not yet closing to melee range.
Owen flies diagonally upwards through the Rising Destroyer lasers and is struck 4 times. [Damage reduced by 25% from Emergency Bolster's lingering effect].
Owen closes in on Ophelia, firing a Lupine Laser at 40ft and a Howling Cannon at 10ft, then halts himself.
If Howling Cannon hits, it would increase the cooldown of Frost Veil, Lionbreaker and Ice Buckler by 1 turn.
Owen's leg is still injured by Lionbreaker, its debuff ending this turn. [2/2]
Howling Cannon - Owen takes a deep breath, then roars and launches a powerful blast of ultrasonic energy at the enemy, reaching an area-of-effect of 10m. This attack not only deals damage from the blast, but disorients their minds a little, increasing any active cooldowns they might have by 1 post. [Cooldown: 3 turns]

Ophelia was indeed stubborn; tenacity was written down to the core with her, after all. Fighting like the wildwoman that she was was in her nature, and she would fight until she was physically incapable of fighting further; whatever circumstances that may be. Though... Despite it all, it was becoming apparent that Ophelia was starting to tire, starting to slow down, despite her best efforts. And this would begin to show with the next set of attacks that Owen had up his sleeve. As Owen dove thru the lasers of Rising Destroyer, Ophelia would brace herself slightly in anticipation; knowing that an attack would be coming. This attack in question at first looked as though he were preparing for a punch, but... In reality, it would end up being a Lupine Laser; the white-hot blast coming right at her! Though the distance would indeed give her a chance to dodge, she could still feel the attack sear into the upper portion of her shoulder; drawing a low growl of pain from her as she briefly stumbled. A glancing attack, more or less. She was getting sloppy - she had to get her act together, had to get a move on...! The growl of pain would shift into one of frustration, at this thought; though she had been doing well in fighting back against Owen, despite his mobility... She was still at a sheer disadvantage against him, for the time being. Owen wasn't done, however; getting even closer with a Howling Cannon attack..! With its area-of-effect, Ophelia's draining stamina, and the limited room, there wasn't much she could do to dodge it; though would still show defiance, even as she began to waver on her feet. Mind hazy, balance unstable, she would still stand her ground in the face of the Howling Cannon; tanking it so that she could attempt to retaliate with a Lupine Laser of her own, roaring at Owen and charging at him as she attempted to blast him! And using that blast as a bit of cover for her to come in close, Ophelia's weapon would shift into a large battleaxe - something resembling that of a Blizzarmon's axe..! Even as she briefly swayed on her feet, she would force herself to keep moving; leaping towards Owen with a fierce Glaciersplitter, swinging the large axe overhead with a spirited shout..!
- Ophelia is struck in a glancing blow by Lupine Laser, and a direct blow by Howling Cannon, and is now on her last ropes. - Ophelia retaliates with a Lupine Laser of her own - using it as a cover to get in close and follow up with a Glaciersplitter - Tempo reaches 5 stacks Move Used:[ATTACK] Glaciersplitter: Using preferably a heavy or otherwise large weapon, Ophelia swings it down at her foe with great force; the sheer strength of the attack fracturing the ground beneath her and her target, and sending out a 20 meter shock-wave! This is an AOE attack where the closer to the center (the center being the intended target) you are, the harder it will hurt; though the further you are from the center, the less it will hurt. This was turning out to be one of the hardest, gruelling fights of Owen's life, and he included that in his DWR days. Usually by now, in the battles he had won, the opponent would have given up or have made that one mistake that would have allowed Owen to pin them down and prevent them moving anymore, but not with Ophelia. She fought so wildly, so strongly, and was so dangerous from so many angles that Owen was unable to land the finishing blow just yet.
That had been his strategy so far in this battle. Chip away at the Panjyamon gradually, preventing her from making any critical blows on him. And even then that was a challenge, he had left himself wide open to that Positron Laser, and it was only his healing abilities that prevented him going down after all this.
But he could see that she was slowing down, breathing heavier than normal. The many blows he had landed on her still made their mark. And he still had the lingering effects of his Emergency Bolster active upon him, his fur glowing with a green tint. He braced himself, as one would brace themselves with a dentist's drill above their open mouth. It would hurt, it could cause damage, but, Owen wasn't going to dishonour his opponent by not giving her his all here.
The Lupine Laser glanced off her shoulder - she dodged effectively enough that it didn't burn into the meat of it. His Howling Cannon made more of an impact though, dizzying her slightly as it did last time. But not before she fired off a Lupine Laser herself. Owen braced for it with a clenched fist, clenching it further with the power of his Togemon card. His fist became hard and dense. Not enough to completely nullify the damage of the laser, in fact it made the joints of his left knuckle sting and freeze up momentarily. But he only needed it to be clenched in a fist for what he aimed for next.
Owen swerved at the last moment to avoid a direct blow from Glaciersplitter, having once again to cut his engines to move quickly enough out of the way of her increased accuracy, but the shockwave still knocked him about badly. He gasped momentarily. He was much closer to that shockwave than he was before, and if that hammer had struck him directly, that could have all been over for him. But still, with a roar of might, Owen's jets blasted at full power as the pain in his leg from Lionbreaker faded. And once more, he launched into his omnidirectional Wild Onslaught attack, whirling around Ophelia like a tornado of punches and kicks.
Owen punched, kicked and snarled as the adrenaline from the battle filled him. By now it was exhausting him, but the fact that Ophelia was still standing made him determined to be the one that would last the longest out of this.
With his Coconut Punch hardened fist, Owen would aim the finishing blow to slam her onto the glacier below. He panted, hovering at 20 feet, waiting to see if she was still ready to stand after all that.
Owen uses Togemon's Coconut Punch to harden his left fist and brace for Ophelia's Lupine Laser. As it is only a champion level card, damage is not reduced by much, only about 35% total as it strikes Owen's fist (combined with Emergency Bolster).
Owen utilizes Jetpack Flight to avoid a direct attack from Glaciersplitter, but the shockwave almost knocks the wind out of him. Damage is reduced by 25% with Emergency Bolster.
Owen uses Wild Onslaught once more against Ophelia.
Wild Onslaught - With his jets bursting at full energy, Owen speeds around his opponent, launching powerful punching attacks from them at all angles. If they're lighter than he is (200kg), then they get launched into the air if this attack hits. When done, Owen slams them into the ground, whether he launches them or not, rendering them immobilized for 1 turn. [Cooldown: 3 turns].

Ophelia staggered slightly as the Glaciersplitter slammed into one of the icefloes that were drifting beneath Owen; the ice easily shattering under the strength of the attack, and forcing her to make a leap to another frozen platform. The puffs of white from her heavy breaths danced in the air amongst the seaspray, amongst the chilling winds; a testament that this fight was affecting her just as much as it was Owen, if not moreso. When was the last time that she could fight like this...? Despite the fact that she was aching down to her very core, she couldn't deny the satisfaction in this fight; the certain spark of pride in having been able to fight so hard like this, and still be standing - to still be willing to stand and fight for even longer. That wouldn't last for much longer, however, much to the Panjyamon's chagrin. Owen's roar would shatter her from her brief, hazy, thoughts as he came charging in with a Wild Onslaught - and Ophelia, with that exhaustion and ache weighing her limbs, would be unable to dodge in time before she became caught up in the whirlwind of blows. Owen wasn't holding back - and, perhaps, that was for the best; Ophelia would've gotten annoyed and frustrated if Owen had pulled his punches just because she was getting tired, like Valt did. This meant that Ophelia would be left hurting only more, though, as she was slammed down into the ice below; sprawled out, her breathing coming in fast but still-heavy puffs, every byte of her body aching and protesting. Her vision was hazy - dipping in and out - and she could practically feel the way that her body thumped even in her ears... For a moment that felt like that of an eternity, she could only lay there - letting out a loose cough as her claws dug into the ice beneath her, groaning sharply, wheezing out a single "F-fuck..."... yet, she'd still stand. Using her Azure Fang to prop herself up, she would sway and stagger to her feet; another display of her seemingly endless willpower and defiance. Calling upon the ExVeemon card, Ophelia would attempt to fire off a Vee Laser - the X that emblazoned itself on her chest being Owen's only warning. However, the shot would - more likely than not - go wide, as Ophelia swayed to the side; unable to properly aim anymore. She would cough again, trying to stagger her way towards him, trying to keep fighting; come on, she still had some fight! She could still do it...! "I... I-I'm not done yet...!"But despite her best efforts, Ophelia would end up collapsing forward once more; the glow of Digivolution overtaking her as she'd end up devolving back into a Spadamon, unable to maintain her Panjyamon form anymore. Her body was shaking with the exertion of trying to stand, trying to keep fighting - yet it was clear that Owen had won this one, despite the little lioness' stubborn nature driving her to keep fighting... "I'm, I'm not... I c-can keep going... C'mon...!"Was she trying to encourage Owen to keep fighting... Or was she only trying to encourage herself? Either way, perhaps now was as good of a time as any, to tell her to stop...
- Ophelia is struck by Wild Onslaught dead-on, and is slammed down into the ice - She attempts to continue standing with Force of Will, and attempts to fire off ExVeemon's Vee Laser at Owen; but the shot is wildly inaccurate. - Afterwards, Ophelia collapses, and devolves into Spadamon; losing all stacks of Tempo in the process. Move Used:[ABILITY] Force of Will: Ophelia is stubborn and tenacious - even when a digimon tries to handicap her, she'll shake off the effect thru sheer willpower alone. Owen panted hard as he watched Ophelia down below. The MachGaogamon was hurting everywhere... especially his leg, torso and fist. But still, his jets fired as he struggled to stay in the air. He had given Ophelia everything he had in terms of combat. And, if it was not enough, then he would at last accept her as the winner of this bout.
He watched her stagger to her feet, using her weapon to hold herself steady. And still she fought onward! The Vee Laser she tried to shoot at him was ill-aimed, and Owen merely had to drift backward to avoid it in full. She... she was still fighting?! After all this?!
But... she then finally collapsed, then de-digivolved back to Spadamon. At once, Owen knew the fight was over. He lowered his defenses, and at once his thoughts changed from earning victory to care for his opponent. After all, this was Bu's girlfriend. It would hardly do if he took this any further.
Owen's jets calmed in their burst, the MachGaogamon returning to the ground slowly. Ophelia seemed to still want to fight, but Owen shook his head. "I'm not fighting you any further, Ophelia." he said. There was no need. He didn't feel the need or want to explain why. She had fought so fiercely that he could barely register himself that he had bested her. Instead he said "If Bu's chosen you as her mate, she's chosen well. I'm proud to have battled you this way, and I hope you have much happiness in being part of our family."
The MachGaogamon would then offer to scoop her up in his hands, then he would fly away from the glacier arena, back to the lobby.
Owen is able to dodge the Vee Laser with a swift maneuver with his Jetpack Flight passive.
Owen makes no further attacks as Ophelia de-digivolves.

Ophelia would bare her fangs in an attempt at ferocity, despite the haggard look about her, as Owen landed before her upon the ice. She was ready to keep fighting her, even in her rookie stage - she'd snatch whatever victory she could get, no ifs-ands-or-buts about it! And yet...
... Ophelia would pause - blinking blearily as she heard Owen speak. He wasn't fighting her any further..? The little Spadamon couldn't help but pause as she considered this - almost as though it had come as a surprise to her, that the fight was over now. The change in demeanor from her would be almost instant, as the notion sunk in; the way that she went half-limp, the only thing keeping her upright being her Azure Fang - the blade of it sunken into the ice as she leaned against it for support.
She'd let out a heavy sigh as the metaphorical weight of the fight lifted from her; eyes staring hazily at the ice between them - the stretch of it shrinking, as Owen approached. "Hell yeah..." She'd mumble breathily; unable to help a small grin, even as the fight and energy drained out of her. Glancing up to Owen finally, the exhaustion plain in her eyes, she would conclude "You're tough... Damn tough... I enjoyed this.."
Ophelia was more than happy to accept being scooped up by Owen; the blade of Azure Fang dissipating as she hooked it back onto her belt. And as the MachGaogamon made to leave the arena, moving back to the lobby, she would be more than happy to snuggle up against the larger digimon's chest; a soft and content purr rumbling up from her chest all the while.
