Sho Tsuginaga vs. The Sea of Blood [Sho & Yuko]

“A week here… is a day outside?” Yuko’s sweating got heavier at that. She’d been so focused on surviving in the Digital World while trying to get back home, she hadn’t really stopped to think exactly how long it had been since they had left the human world. “I… haven’t found my way back home yet… We were supposed to get to Terminus City right away, but SOMEONE wanted to take a bunch of detours!” She explained, glaring daggers at a certain clown. “Hey now, you had fun in those detours, didn’t you?” Jokermon said with nary a care in the world, putting his hands up, as if defending himself.
The young Tamer rubbed her temples and walked around in circles, leaving a mess of footprints in the sand. “Crap, I’ve been gone from home for a whole day. Maybe even two days… Junpei and Mika too! Our parents will be calling the cops by now.” “Just explain everything to them when you get back. I’m sure they’ll understand.” Her colorful partner Digimon told her, while waving his hand dismissively. “THERE ARE SEVERAL THINGS WRONG WITH THAT IDEA!!” The delinquent girl shouted at the top of her lungs, breathing heavily afterwards. Yup, it was official. She was having her first panic attack at age 16.

This wasn't Sho's first rodeo with this kind of panic. The clammy feeling, the heavy, shallow breaths...He felt it before one long day way back when. But now he'd been around the block a few times, way more times than he thought as he was just remembering. He'd gotten so used to going to other people for finding things and getting back home that he'd forgotten that he could get back there on his own. Sho made a mental note to start having more confidence in his abilities, for now though, he had to give Yuko a little distance to finish yelping before he started to move in. "Hey, hey, hey...wait. Don't fret about that stuff before you've even gotten home yet. This happens to just about everybody their first time in." He assured her in his meeker, gentler voice. For a second, he sounded how he used to back then..."Just stand back and try to control your breathing, I'll just go call a ride." Sho nodded and bowed, politely marching off into the brambles that lined the edge of the shore and putting his little plan into action. Anyone looking closely would see a small flash of released Digicode before a large, winged beast came screeching out of the hellish foliage, beginning to glide on the draconic wings attached to its back in an arc above the pair of them before coming in for a graceful landing. The wind it was beating away with its wings swept the ashen sand beneath his lion paws. As it came to a thudding stop, its serpent tail snapped at the air behind it. The eagle's head at the peak of the large chimera had a metallic helm on its beak, piercing eyes shining through it as it stood tall and proud, still flapping his wings with the strength of a monsterous wyvern. "Your flight is free of charge, mi'lady..." The Griffomon seemed to have a smug expression permanently seared onto his face crowing in coy politeness. Quite deservedly in its opinion.

Sho’s gentle words of comfort did help the girl calm down… somewhat. It wasn’t like she could just stop worrying like crazy at the click of a button, especially with all the stress that had been building up in her, but after catching her breath, she started to think things through more calmly and logically. “Right… I’ll just cross that bridge when I get to it… As long as I show up the next day, I only risk getting yelled at… Thanks, I mean it.” Yuko managed a weak smile.
“Well, this could have gotten a lot worse.” Jokermon interjected, patting his Tamer on the back. “After all, the Dark Area draws negative emotions around it like a black hole. The angst of human children happens to be its favorite snack. It’s good to have you back, kid!”
The boy soon ran off, only for a winged beast Digimon to come flying at them from the same direction he had run off to. The newbie Tamer couldn’t help but giggle at how conspicuous this ‘disappearing act’ was, but she played along nonetheless. “Heheh… So, you’re the ride Sho called for us. Where will you be taking us?”

If Sho could break a spiritual smile, he could, but for now, nothing really looked genuine behind that metal helm and razor sharp beak. Somehow, he had to translate his emotion to action...He began to preen and extended his webbed draconic wings, letting them down in a kind of bow to allow the two of them to climb on. "Anywhere you wish to go! That is, as long as you want to go there. quickly..aren't you sick of detours?" The Griffomon cackled and crowed as it lowered its head to Yuko's eye level, leering mischievously at Jokah-sama. "That being said, you better hold on. I can catch you of course! But, y'know, falling sucks! It's the opposite of survival!" It seemed to caw at the word survival, the word ringing out with such joy in its mind. "Ahem. Jokes aside, it sounds like you're going to Terminus City. Hop on, princess!" Sho called, nodding his feathered head.

“I AM sick of detours!” Yuko replied, holding back another chuckle, as the winged beast cracked jokes and dealt low jabs at the actual jokester in their group. Despite its monstrous appearance taken straight out of a medieval fantasy novel, it acted more like an oversized, playful cat, getting easily excited. Yuko kinda wanted to pet Griffomon, but considering he was actually a human boy about her age, petting him would be kinda weird. Yeah, it would definitely feel awkward to her.
“Wait, what about the guys? We’re supposed to get back home together.” The young delinquent asked worriedly. “You can communicate with them via your Digivice. If they can catch a ride on a Trailmon C-89, they should arrive in Terminus City at roughly the same time as us.” The Clown Prince casually explained. Yuko’s eyes narrowed to a dangerous degree. “Jokah… Digivices can be used as communication devices… and you’re only telling me this NOW?!” She snapped, bopping Jokermon on the head so hard, he started devolving. He had been holding unto his Champion form with the last of his energy reserves, so a punch from a feeble human was all it took for him to shrink back into the weaker Dracmon. “Ow! That really hurt!” The child-sized, vampiric Digimon complained in a higher-pitched, whinier-sounding voice, while rubbing his big head.
Following that exchange, Yuko sighed and picked up Dracmon, almost like a mother holding her child in her arms. They got seated on Griffomon’s back together, and the girl grabbed the beast’s mane tightly. “Alright… Let’s fly to Terminus City!”

Sho reeled back, poising himself for a launch before he began to gallop forth on all fours, racing across the sands again as he slowly increased his speed. If he just kept it steady and easy, he could avoid flinging them off right? The Griffomon could stuff it for now, he had to make sure they could make an actual trip to Terminus City without hanging on the underside of his fur. "Alright...hold on!" He yelled, his serpent tail cracking like a whip behind him as he rose into the air with the pair, accelerating from there as it flapped higher and higher, gliding to face the direction of the city. He was a bit too focused on remembering the directions to pay attention to what was happening on his back, but his backbrain did process that the Dracmon just imply that he was only moving as fast as a Trailmon. Well, it was time to prove them wrong! "Tell your friends they can meet you there. You're taking the fast lane!" Sho called, closing up his beak and drawing in his legs before shooting off into the distance towards the city. "Yahooo!" He crowed, twinkling them off into the distance...
