This place harbored a lot of people that needed saving.
The sort of place that you could get lost in and wander around, never to return to the surface. To go deeper and deeper until you found yourself where you needed to be. Where you needed to go and who you wanted to be with. Holly wasn't one of those people, she knew where to go. Knew where she needed to be, who she wanted to see. That whole entire expanse of being lost might of been her from when she first arrived.
But now?
The meicoomon had felt her fangs get trimmed a bit, her urges from her higher forms being quelled. They wanted to feed, but the data of others tasted disgusting. She found herself turning and tuning into the knowledge of the digital world rather than those that her instincts at the deepest level craved.
Her soft smile and cheerful demeanor was disarming in it's own right; people here learning that she was quite dangerous ontop of that made for a very odd scene whenever she was trotting around. Some people recoiled, obviously unaware of who she was while others... Well other's greeted her, talked to her and got the news from the upper world they had turned their backs to.
Eventually of course she stepped into a very particular part of the city, into a very particular base. She hadn't been there for quite some time but it seemed to still register her; perhaps it was because they knew she'd visit eventually? That or maybe they just changed the over-ride for her again.
Regardless once she was into the base proper she'd cup her hands and let out a yell for someone. Not really caring if they were busy or trying to do something that didn't concern her. She knew how hard they worked themselves, they were just like da and would forget to take care of themselves!
"Auntie Angel! Uncle Den Den! Uncle Demon! I brought bento!"

In retrospect, maybe Metal Drive should have updated the scanners at their front door.
As Holly walked into the base - the former Colosseum - she'd find herself standing in the outer ring, her yelling voice echoing out as her voice bounced down the stone hall. Was no-one home? Honestly, it was hard to tell with just how expansive this place was... but at least, it didn't take long for someone to come out to greet her.
Even if that 'someone' was a black, leathery, one-armed demon lumbering idly in her direction. Demon gave a low growl, looking down at the Meicoomon in vague recognition. "Doctor's Mei?" Did he somehow forget about a scheduled visit?
"Whoa, there, big guy. 'Den Den' invited this one over." Angel, the rapier-wielding Renamon, strode her way right under Demon's arm, before resting a hand on her hip, looking down at the cat. "God, you look cramped like that... stretch out your arms as a MeiCrackmon, at least." She could tell that Holly wasn't quite 'used' to trouncing around at her rookie level!
"Hmph. Why call?" Demon seemingly lost interest in Holly almost immediately, attention turning right to the fox - who returned a flick to his nose.
"Something-something-Golden Week. So, how was the walk over here, kitten?"

Holly flicked her ears a little bit and frowned as her voice echoed. Did they change locations recently or something and not tell her? The meicoomon perked her ears and then cupped her hands to them but... Well once demon came lumbering towards her the meicoomon lit up and she'd practically run to the pair.
"Uncle Demon! Auntie angel!"
There'd be a moment where she'd try to hug each of them, whether or not it was successful would probably be dependent on how much they minded rookie hugs from a meicoomon. Another ear flick and she'd look up at her 'auntie' with a small smile.
"Well... I mean I am cramped in this form but people get nervous when I run around like that."
The meicoomon huffed a bit and stretched out her form to one she was more used to. Though if allowed she'd give them another pair of hugs, properly this time with a few pats for good measure. She was feeling really happy this week and that wasn't a surprise considering everything that was occurring in her life.
"Oh. Yeah he wanted to talk about it. So I made bento! It was okay, people were pretty happy to see me and a few newer folks literally jumped out of their skin. I guess folks are still unused to meicoomon being friendly..."
The meicrackmon grumbled a bit and with one hand reached into her infini-storage. One was labeled 'angel' and the other was labeled 'demon'. She'd offer them up to either mon with a smile.
"Mostly meats for you demon, I know how greens get stuck in teeth like that. And For you angel well! I hope you don't mind sushi rolls and sake. Made from ingredients I picked up while in japan. Where's uncle Den Den? Auntie Cas?"

"... Uncle?"
Demon seemed more confused by the concept than anything else. Though Angel returned the hug - both hugs, as a matter of fact - Demon pushed back with the back of his arm, the more feral Devidramon not quite comfortable with many things coming close to him. A guttural growl echoed out of his throat, as he scanned over the MeiCrackmon.
With a nod, the demon stepped back, Angel letting out a sigh. "Don't mind him, Holly. Demon's just been a bit restless, lately - its what happens when the jobs run a bit thin." As for the walk over, well, it was about what the Renamon expected... and hey, custom bento! Demon gave a blink, claw outstretched as he took the package in hand, giving it a sniff.
Meat. Good meat. With gritted teeth, he gave a nod, and stepped past Holly and Angel, as the Renamon looked over her own selection. "Interesting, you made these?" The Renamon flicked her ear. "Guess it'll give us something to nibble at while you're talking to the boss. Speaking of, I should probably let him know you're here. C'mon, this way."
With a tilt of her head, the Renamon would lead on down that long corridor - and a few doors down, she'd give a knock at the wall. "D, your appointment's here. One kitten who got caught up in that mess."
After a silent moment, the door would open, revealing a small gym set-up in the room. And there stood Denryu, running a towel through his hair, wearing a simple white shirt and gray sweatpants. "Well, aren't you early."
"C'mon, not everyone can run on... on your time." Angel bit her lip, trying her damnedest not to swear in front of the cat. Denryu would follow them a short bit further down the hall, to something of a living area.
Worn down sofas, a dusty TV, several cushions and a banged-up coffee table. It was a far cry from the aerial base, but it was a fair bit better than nothing. Angel sat back, finally opening her bento, as Denryu addressed the cat proper.
"Guess the first thing I should ask, how are you holding up? Well, from Golden Week, anyway. Honestly, I never expected things to get that out of hand."

"Well Uncle Den Den and Auntie cas are family so why wouldn't you be?"
Holly tilted her head, understanding his desire not to want the hug. She'd instead just stick her tongue out and give him a cheerful wink. Of course with the hugs that angel accepted she'd get two different sorts. The small cheerful one and the nearly back crushing one that her champion form was able to manage.
"I mean everyone was holding their breaths for what happened I think. Lots of unease but... I think there's honest hope!"
The meicrackmon let go of the package as Demon took it from her, managing to keep that smile before watching him go. With the renamon having her own bento as well as... Well the sake was quite high grade. She couldn't make that so she had to buy it. If the renamon wanted more there was even a little card for her to get orders from.
"Mhm. Clone 3 made them actually, but they're basically just me. I was working on my thesis for school."
Holly tilted her head as the renamon spoke, how she'd be talking to 'boss'. It was a wierd thing to call their tamer... Weren't they friends? The meicrackmon paused and though to ask. Staring at the renamon for a moment she'd quietly go through with it.
"...Is he a boss as well as a friend Angel? I have a hard time understanding humans and the relationships they keep."
Her voice was kind of hushed and she'd splay her ears, she knew quite a few humans but that didn't mean she understood them. She had an easier time talking and interacting with them on a more personal level but... Being in the human world had made her feel like she had been suffocating. Holly padded after the renamon and leaned a bit as the door opened, the gym set up making her blink. It'd make sense they'd do it here, it was safe and they wouldn't have to worry about it. The meicrackmon slowly blinked as she was greeted with that strange outfit.
"Only thirty minutes. I thought it'd take longer but I got less held up than I thought I would be."
Holly flicked her ears as she heard that restraint in the renamon's voice and she'd gingerly place a hand on their shoulder. Giving a small squeeze before padding down the hall. The sofa's, the dusty tv... and even a coffee table. The cat took a seat on the sofa, bringing out two more bento packages. One with an H, customized heart stickers and varying cat emoji scrawlings on it with Denryu's being... Well just two D's on it.
"I'm doing just fine. From... Well. From the goldenweek nothing really went poorly on our end. Had some hag show up to try to ruin it but we held hands, sang kumbaya and almost made her throw up. Some agent almost attacked the hag because of something to do with their son or whatever. It was hard to keep track of everything."
Holly wasn't still fully recovered from losing her mother and the meicrackmon's ears still looked kind of worn from all the pulling she had been doing of them. The bags under her eyes were pretty extreme and if truth be told... If it wasn't for school or kizna she probably would still be locked away trying to recover.
"Why? You have something to do with it?"
The meicrackmon offered the customized bento the Denryu, her eyes flashing lightly as she asked the question. He wouldn't just ask if he wasn't a part of it... but it didn't hurt to check.
"Yours is a little more varied since I don't know what you like. Some cheese, Some Beef, some rice, some green beans. Apple slices with caramel. And I guess Orange juice was a good pick for since you just stopped working out... If you want some crackers to go with the cheese I have some in my storage."
The meicrackmon set her own cover aside and the smell of fish would waft from hers. The meicrackmon seriously just packed her own bento with as much fish as she could manage. There was some small bits n pieces in there... as well as a small mint that she had heard her mother liked.
"The world still has a lot of growing to do and I think with golden week we made a good step in the right direction. I don't think humans en masse are ready for digimon yet but... They show promise."

"Clone 3, huh? What, do they come out similar every time you make them, or something?"
Angel was curious, but it was a fleeting sort of curiosity - Holly could at least see the Renamon giving a slight grin at the sight of the bento. Her ear flicked as Holly asked if Denryu was a friend, and, well, Angel actually took a moment to answer.
"... You're a friend, Holly. I'd say Denryu's closer to 'family', if that makes sense?" Maybe it would, maybe it wouldn't, but the fox didn't really feel like explaining it all that much. Besides, Denryu perhaps wasn't the best basis of how a 'normal' human would interact: the man didn't even change out of his gym clothes as he followed the other two Digimon along to the living area. "Thirty minutes early is quite a lot, Holly. Though, I guess you're used to seeing people show up early for your dad's appointments... or something like that." Taking a seat across from the Meicrackmon, he took the bento in hand, keeping it closed in front of him as he listened to Holly's take on Golden Week.
Indeed, her own situation was interesting. Rather than the other two, which simply devolved into fights, Holly's became a peace demonstration - one that overwhelmed the intent of both DATS and the attacking forces, and reinforced the entire purpose of the demonstration. That much, Denryu knew even before Holly said anything, even nodding as Holly explained his own bento.
The General cracked it open.
"I had more than a 'little' to do with it." The General's explanation came across somewhat flat. "I worked with a DATS member to delay the initial response, and sent fliers through Terminus to gather interest for the event. The intent was simply to put Digimon in the public eye... and, initially, things were going as smooth as I could hope."
He gave a sigh. "And to be honest - though I didn't intend it - even the negative demonstration works to our benefit."
"... Ugh... drag the mood down, why don't you."

"Hmm? Oh. Well they all keep the same personality as me and they have varying little tid bits. Some are better at cooking and others are better at smaller nuances."
The meicrackmon scratched at her ear and mulled about it; some of the clones were quite into it and she was grateful. Others were a little more difficult to deal with and could even get somewhat aggravated if they weren't fed or managed well. The meicrackmon eased her ears forward and blink at angel's answer.
"It makes sense. But is it bad I consider all of you family?"
The meicrackmon turned her head, looking somewhat hopeful at that question. She considered a lot of her friends more than that. If it came down to it she knew she'd fight for them, kill for them, and in this metal drive's case... Well she'd go further beyond that. They saved her from a dark place and there wasn't anything she wouldn't consider doing to pay back that.
"Well if I knew that your schedule was so important to keep in terms of time I'd of set an alarm!"
The meicrackmon chuckled a bit and stuck out her tongue; she had figured that it would of been fine but honestly... Well. Her take on the situation was simple and refined. Then he started to talk after cracking her bento open. Her eyes trained on him as he did so, an entire fish sliding into her mouth and then down her gullet. Just where did she fit that in these little boxes?!
Her guess had been spot on. That the general had been responsible for the whole event. She'd pause to chew on the tail end of the fish and tossed it up in the air before snapping her jaw shut. The fish never seeing the light of day before.
"You could of done better."
The meicrackmon said with a rather dead pan tone, another fish making it's way up into the air and getting snapped up. A single finger being held up so that the general wouldn't interrupt her as she chewed.
"Security would of been a good idea for something like this, more than us. Someone wanted to make sure that this failed and they almost did. If kizna wasn't such a crack shot at social interactions it would of been a slaughter. Your execution of this entire venture was sloppy and almost cost the digital world and human one a real chance for peace. The demonstrations as you call it... well. The only reason they even worked out in your favor is because of what your end goal was right?"
She'd stare at Denyru and slurp up the last fish, giving a small grunt as it hit home with her body. She really liked fish, to an extreme. Now that the raw ones were out of the way she could focus on the other goodies in her bento...
"You have to be very careful playing with lives Den Den. If the others knew it was you I think you'd have a pretty good shiner right now and a fat lip. Me on the other hand? Plan out a bit more; get more allies. You're not alone in this fight."

"Sheesh, all of us as family?" Angel didn't give a direct answer, simply returning the MeiCrackmon a small smirk. Really, Angel didn't consider herself much of a decent aunt, and Denryu was...
... Well. Denryu.
Once they were situated in the living area, and a decent way through their bento (Angel giving a blink as Holly just started casually eating whole, live, raw fish), it didn't take long for the Meicrackmon to find some fault with Denryu's plan. And on the surface, Holly's points were logical. The General could have sourced better security, and in a certain sense, he might have done more harm than good. "Well, it could have gone smoother," the general mused, "but I don't think my involvement could have gotten much better than it was."
"Tch... I told you, you were too laid back about setting this up, D."
"Hm? Not at all." Looking to Angel from the corner of his eyes, he returned his attention to the MeiCrackmon. "A peaceful union between the two worlds is an ideal thought, but it wasn't why I held the event. DATS, in and of itself, is a problematic response to Digimon as a whole: on the guise of keeping people safe, they tried to pull the veil over the eyes of Japan and pretend that this world didn't exist at all. So, Holly."
He folded his hands together.
"What's the easiest way to topple a group whose entire existence is based on the secrecy of Digimon?"

"Yup! Every one of you! Even the sword and knight that aren't too chatty! Heh."
Holly giggled a little bit and just shook her head, she knew that it seemed a bit odd to them. But the renamon would find herself on the reviving end of a one armed squeeze around the shoulders before they moved on. Holly was a very physically affectionate sort and as of late she had been more open about it. Perhaps it was because of her family or... other things she was trying to hide.
Holly's entire eating live fish probably didn't sit well with the others, but with that out of the way she would set about eating the other 'healthier' parts of her bento. Healthier being subjective as she popped open the soft drink that a friend had suggested. Flicking her ears and wincing as the fizz hit her nose when she took a drink.
"It could of gone much smoother. Much. Much. MUCH smoother. Your involvement could of stopped the other two hodge podges from happening in the first place. I didn't know about all of it but it sounds like it was an absolute mess."
The meicrackmon scowled a bit and she'd flick her ears a few times as he told her why he held the event. That DATS in particular was a problem with how they handled digimon. The meicrackmon paused as she was about to drink from her bottle again and let out a small 'tch' before leveling a single finger at her uncle.
"If you want to topple an entire group based around keeping digimon secret you do it in a better way that doesn't put lives at risk in this fashion. What if they had less restraint and just started digitizing people left and right? Do you even know what their goals are? If you're looking to topple them in a world that's steeped with politics you could easily connect them to terrorist cells across the world, transfer funds from corrupt politicians and put them behind in political backlog up until they can't respond without jumping through dozens of hoops. Golden week was a minefield that we barely got through. It shouldn't of worked."
There was a long pause which was only that because holly took another long drink and grumbled when her drink was gone. She'd stick her hand into her bento to pull out the second, mumbling lightly.
"If you want to topple a group who's entire existance is to keep us secret you do something bigger than them. Longer than their reach. Japan is a great media point but how long is DATS reach? How can they keep it a secret if the whole world knows?"
The meicrackmon's eyes sparkled and she'd snicker.
"Small victories yes, but you're thinking too small scale Uncle."

"... Denryu, you sure this isn't just Hunter in another body?"
Sheesh, Holly was cutthroat! Tying DATS to terrorist cells, dragging more-or-less the entire politics of mankind into the fray just to upend one organization? Mikemon had it right, Holly was definitely smart, but she seemed to lack 'borders' in her thinking. She did say enough for Denryu to consider her points... but ultimately?
"Am I really the one thinking smaller here?" Denryu questioned Holly's alternative method. "Assassinating their character is just a means to show that you're 'scared' of them. That you don't have confidence in your own point, so you'll just approach them with an underhanded method. You can sort of think of it like cutting heads off a hydra, only for stronger ones to grow back in its place."
As for how far DATS would reach? "Mm... Holly, our intent is to stretch this as far worldwide as we can. In fact, we've more or less started a 'fire' DATS can't hope to put out. We've got enough footage plastered across the net that they can't hope to fully cover this up anymore. I'm not going to say my method is perfect... but its what we were able to organize with the resources we had at hand."
Not an ounce of remorse, not a single second-guessing of his own thought - even as he understood Holly's points. "Let's ignore the hypothetical past, though. Given what's happened and what's ongoing, what do you think is going to happen next?"

"...Hunter?"
Holly tilted her head, scrunching her brows down as she pondered what exactly the renamon meant. She didn't have the same restraints as other people, her thinking was so varied and she did so much of it her mouth tended to run and would push out things she thought was a good idea at the time. She'd flick her ears a bit and teasingly pushed Denyru's shoulder.
"Uncle Den Den, I'm just saying what I think would work. You never stated what your preferred method was, you just asked how I would do it. In the event of it becoming a hydra with stronger heads yes that's a problem but the whole 'what if' scenario's never play out the same way people think."
Holly waggled a finger and the last piece of her bento was finally reached. A small mint, holly looked like she didn't want to eat it. Not because of distaste for the mint but there was a particular soft sadness in her face before she put it back in the bin.
"Well if you intended that then good on you, it'll be on plenty of forums and stuff that DATS can't control or muck with I imagine. There's still an odd chance they could manage by hacking the various locations but... People remember don't they?"
Holly leaned a bit and flicked her ears again, so they were limited on resources? The meicrackmon gritted her teeth and tapped the table with a finger.
"You aren't alone in the digital world. If you're short on resources you should look to expand them before doing something dangerous like this again."
But then came the next part, what did she think would come next? She'd lean back in the section of couch she was sitting on mulling over the question for a few moments. She'd rub at one of her ears, flinching a bit as well... The bruises from before still were healing. Even with her regeneration she had practically damaged so much of the muscles that she was still recovering even a week or two after.
"T-tch. What I think is gonna happen? Mmm. If I had to say since you've lit a fire under them DATS is going to be more vigilant in more areas. But they have limited resources too and there will be areas they can't cover. In that you're going to try to find those areas and work with the same, if not more people to make things happen all at once where DATS can't reasonably respond again. Bigger scale, more cameras, more people. Or you're going to let it buzz to where it's embers before throwing more logs on the fire."

"Er, another Meicoomon. Don't worry too much about it."
Yeah, the less this conversation focused about Hunter, the better. And, true, Denryu couldn't fault Holly for her answer given that he asked for one, the general giving a nod. "Hm, true enough. But situations are far from ideal in any case - even if we had the resources, your plan would have a few holes in it."
They could argue semantics for hours, but what was done was done. What would be the situation going forward? The General honestly wanted to know her thoughts on it, from what she's seen firsthand. And from what she said?
"Indeed... I wasn't quite predicting that DATS would stay as firm as they did, but judging from their immediate reaction, its almost as if they don't even want to consider alternatives."
"Is that really a surprise, though?" Angel blinked. "You saw the feeds. A lot of the DATS operatives seem to have a personal stake in this - I'd go as far as to say a few of them hate Digimon. And all the logic and public opinion in the world isn't going to change something like that, so quickly."
"So fighting them on the public opinion front isn't going to change their minds?" Denryu tapped the table in front of him, thinking it over. "The 'human' element's stronger here than I figured it could be. Wearing them down over time by building public support for Digimon remains an option... but I wonder how dirty DATS will be willing to play."

"The way you said it makes me feel like you don't think too highly of them."
Holly frowned a little bit but gave the renamon a small nod, willing to move on from the topic as it seemed to make her auntie uncomfortable. She'd fold her hands on her lap and stare at denyru; mulling over the points he made. Yes her plans had holes in them, every plan did but she'd waggle her finger a little bit.
"Every good plan has holes in it, but that's part of planning. Finding ways to make those holes go away and here you are with the ability to talk it out and do so. So in that vein your plan went off well enough."
The meicrackmon's ears flicked forward as the other spoke about DATS. They didn't want to consider alternatives? The meicrackmon paused and she'd dredge up something from her infini storage. It was a small notepad where she'd flick it up, page through a few pages before writing something down.
"In that case... they're afraid of change. Afraid of what it could bring. They desperately want to stop the digital world and human world from merging I bet. And I don't mean like physically merging, I more mean like society wise. While it'd be beneficial for both sides there'd also be a lot of dangerous problems..."
Holly seemed to remember something about the personal stakes and she'd bite her lip as angel said something about hate. She'd look down at her pad, mulling something over for a moment. She'd let denyru and angel talk at one another and then what he asked at the end made the meicrackmon's pencil snap as she put a little bit too much pressure on it. This thing was only made for rookies after all.
"Oh drat. Uhm. Well they'll play as dirty as they have to if they have hate in their hearts. So to make them change, we have to change what they feel. Find out what hurt they have and help soothe it. You'd on't just hate something for no reason, not like this. You don't put effort into something just because you 'hate' it. You put effort into it like this because something happened to you and you hate it so much that you don't want it to ever happen again to someone else even if it means the good from that thing can't happen either."
Holly sighed a little bit and pulled out a bigger, stronger looking pencil. This one had some metal bits on either side of it and she'd slide them up a little before writing down something.
"If anything maybe we can help people heal, these aren't scars. Scars remind us of where we've been and what we've done. These are still open wounds, some could of been festering and some could be newer but... I think we can address them if we manage to corner them in some fashion that allows us to help them."

"Afraid of change? That's... definitely an apt way to put it, actually."
It summarized not only the current situation, but a lot of problems out in the human world. Those afraid of change, stuck in the status quo, didn't want to take the risk with something else. In this case, it was perfectly understandable - how would humans really react to another world filled entirely with supernatural monsters? Perhaps simply ignoring those and charging forth with the change could not be considered the best option.
... But then, what was the answer? Holly had a different idea, after snapping her pencil.
"... In layman's terms... you're literally trying to kill their hatred with kindness?" Angel tilted her head, as Denryu considered the idea. "Basically, what you want to do is try and help deal with their problems directly - but would we even get to that stage? I'm sure that whatever ills they have with the Digital World aren't something that they'd openly share with strangers."
"Maybe we don't have to answer them directly." Angel interjected. "Or maybe we're giving up on our initial idea too easily. Instead of giving bad people the chance to interject, why not have a good presence of Digimon in the other world to handle the situations as they come up? And not just with invading Digimon, but, like, 'in general' as well."
"Hm..." The General considered it. "Its a matter of finding a decent landing point. If DATS responds too harshly, the whole intent might be quashed from the start. I wouldn't shelve addressing their ideas directly too quickly..."
"... After all, they didn't seem to arrest the tamers and spirit wielders that got involved to try and stop the 'bad Digimon'."

"Maybe scared is too laid back. I'd say with their responses they're terrified, to the point of where they could be hysterical. I bet the other two sections of the event didn't help either."
Holly huffed a little bit and looked down at her hands, she'd clench them and grit her teeth. She didn't like the human world, too many smells, too many noises. How did the humans live like that? She preferred her peace and quiet of the digital world...
Well as peaceful as the digital world could get. Her eyes looked to angel and she'd slowly nod her head.
"Then that's why we stop being strangers with them and start being friends with them. They're people with lives, problems and places all their own. It's not something we need to force, they're hurting Uncle Den Den. Just like you, just like me. Just like- Just like ma."
The meicrackmon sighed a bit and lean back, rubbing her sinus' with her hands. She didn't think that the violent acts at this point would suffice. Her eyes span a few times and the meicrackmon let out a low rumbling chuckle.
"Then we wait for openings, find the cracks. Find what we need to. Rushing it would be bad; so we wait. We watch. They have the limelight and are open about things. Being open lets the world watch even if they don't want it."
Holly leaned to poke at Denyru's chest, a doofy grin spreading on her face.
"Why not track them and find out more about each of the agents? Or maybe I can approach them peacefully; I want to know more about the human world even if I find it's overcrowded nature a little smothering."
