Kathrine stopped the cart she was pushing in section 2.12, the foreign biographies - untranslated. She gave a soft sigh and tugged at the tan bands that held her hair in a bun. She was pretty sure no-one came to this section and her cart technically had a copy of Cary Grant's autobiography that could be placed here since the text had only been translated every 10th paragraph. The librarian-in-training was pretty sure no-one would look for a woman wearing a pleated, chocolate skirt with a white blouse and "biker" style short, walnut jacket in the foreign section. She kneeled down to look at her cart's largest section, pushing aside some well loved copies of Inuyasha vol 5, a translation of Dante's Inferno and a rather water warped version of "Twelve Aquatic Cryptids of Chiba". Behind them was a overly large egg that was cartoonishly white with two lines of deep-blue diamonds circling the southern hemisphere. "Oh, what am I suppose to do with you?" The nervous librarian whimpered, thinking back to how she found the lost clutch-spawn. She had been scanning in texts for the big push to "digital access and research" only a week ago, working on the religious sections when she had gotten distracted reading a particularly interesting section on raven habits in Fuji. While distracted she had grabbed from the Forbidden To Be Scanned pile that was located near the back - namely a tale about Izanami-no-Mikoto - which she cross scanned in the middle of a Susanoo-no-Mikoto story. The copier began to shake, rattle and smoke before she found the poor egg in the lower machinery of the (now dead) copier. Back in section 2.12, Katherine stared at the egg forlornly before reaching for the Oology textbook, flipping through the contents. She had already zeroed out any native lizard and serpent species for Japan. "Maybe you're akin to an Albatross? Ooh...or an eagle. Please don't be an eagle."

Several hours later, Kathrine pushed her cart - now cleared of all but a single copy of Dante's Inferno that was checked out in America, apparently, and turned in here - into the backroom as night started to fall. She had spent every second she could researching the strange egg - even putting a post on Reddit, which only resulted in people complimenting her on her papermache work. "I just don't know...what could it be?" She sighed and shrugged, smiling happily that no-one had been particularly mean today. She sat down, patting the crease in her skirt and moving to pull out the current edition of Boku no Hīrō Akademia. She shook her head at the antics, waiting for the hour to complete so she could go get dinner and head back to her apartment. Slowly, her head raised between pages, looking at the open door on her cart. She straightend slightly, staring at the darkend hatch where just enough light showed a broken oval object with blue diamonds that slowly began to...defragment? The egg literally broke down into tiny pixels before disappearing. She withheld a gasp, nervously looking around the dark backroom. "But...where is..." She started to ask before sensing something steadily crawling up her jacket's back. The sensation was almost comical, a suction cup flattening itself and releasing over and over. She hadn't noticed it before due to anxiety over the strange egg having been broken; now she was too aware of the sensation. She slowly turned her head, coming face to face with a blue-ish-gray octopod with a singular bright orange eye and two tuffed "ears" on her shoulder. She screamed.

The library huh?
Kan hadn't really been to a library in a long time, in fact he pretty much didn't go there at all unless he needed something from them. In this case he was trying to find a particular book that was fairly rare, something to help him along with his work. It was difficult to find online and even more difficult to find at a reasonable price.
Some variants of automotives needed books like these to explain their inner workings and the man had come into one that needed repairs... That he didn't know what to do with. But further still? He had come across something strange about the library nearest him, or at least one that wasn't rife with kids in his opinion.
A post on reddit that was a pretty staple topic about what to do with an egg. The man shook his head, the comments made it out to be paper mache but... He recognized the size and the shape. That was a digimon egg. Which meant that the poster was a tamer that likely just came into their own egg. He hurried along, flipping through his notes. The timestamp was for earlier today so...
But then he heard that scream, the place was already near closing time and with a growl he'd quickly step through the doors. His stark white D-1 in his hand ready and raring to go if need be. Some digimon were outright hostile when they came out of their eggs so... This tamer might be in trouble!
He'd look around and grumble, noting that there was no one in the front. He'd step quickly to what he figured would be the best place to go, the back room. Before giving it a firm pair of knocks to indicate he was here.
"Everything all right in there?"
The man knew the answer all ready, if that was the case they wouldn't of screamed. He'd roll his eyes a little bit at his stupid question, if it was him he'd try to cover it up and without much time he'd go to push open the door. he knew what he was probably getting into... Unless. Well unless this was the wrong library!

Katherine had attempted to swipe the strange octopus off of it's perch, only to have it happily latch onto her hand, where it presently was attached. It was presently, softly biting at her palm with it's beak-like mouth, causing the librarian to panic more. She barely heard the knock as she was reaching for a book to flatten the hatchling, which brought her back to herself: This was a newborn, it wasn't likely to be overtly hostile. "Ah...ye...yes, please come back later. The...library will be closing in 5 minutes and uhh...presently I am dealing with an exhibit?" She tried to assert the confidence she'd learned in school but it came off shaky as she observed the nipping octopod.

Kan frowned a little bit and the door would be pushed open, he was greeted with quite the scene. Something that he expected honestly; or at least something to do with the egg. The small octopod that was attatched to the librarian's hand earned a small sigh and he'd shake his head.
"The young ones get attached to the first thing they see usually. Try petting the top of it's head to get it to unlatch from your hand."
He'd quickly turn his head to lean out of the door, looking this way or that to double check no one was about before quickly closing it behind him. He'd frown a little and stare at the duo in front of him. How to explain this in a way to not sound crazy? Or perhaps...
"Where did you find this? I don't suppose your cellphone turned into some wierd device either did it?"
Baby steps were needed and Kan was the patient sort for fledgling tamers... and if she wasn't a tamer she just came across a solo digimon. One that was a child, an egg even. So where would it's parent be? He hoped that this librarian was it's tamer. If they were this would be a thousand times easier.
"If you want, I can help you close up the library and deal with this lil' guy too."

Katherine let in a sharp gasp upon the man entering the room, an instinctual thought about danger of being alone in the library with a strange customer blocking out his initial statement, although she caught the bit about patting it's head. Nervously she reached forward as the man talked, tapping the small octopod's head then gently scritched it's twin "ears". Softly the creature let go with a pop, landing in her open hand with a content, full body yawn. The young librarian gave a slightly anxious laugh, staring at the small creature before looking towards the other man. "T...thank you for the advice. I don't...suppose you know what this is?" She inquired before listening to his questions, "Ah, no...I...found this large egg inside the copier, it was causing smoke and damage to the machine after I...accidentally scanned in some code on a library book. My phone? I do-" She reached into her pocket and pulled out a strange, hand sized red and yellow device that had replaced her phone in her pocket. She let out an unsteady, low pitch whine that began to pick up in sound, heading towards another distressed scream.

Honestly he didn't blame her for the reaction of him coming into the room, he was a rather tall burly sort that would likely be uncomfortable being around in private especially if one was a stranger. Didn't help he had one hell of a facial scar either... He'd hold up his hands to indicate he didn't mean any harm before approaching.
"They're called digimon. If I'm not mistaken... That's a kuramon?"
He wasn't a hundred percent sure on the name of the mon that was in front of him. It had been a while since he had really dealt with children like digimon. He'd tilt his head as she answered his questions and with a surprising amount of gentleness he'd reach down to give the octopod a gentle rub on the top of the head.
"They tend to appear around technology, not a surprise. I can take a look at the machine, I'm a mechanic and well. It's not outside of my expertise."
At the low pitch whine he'd gingerly reach forward, placing a hand on the shoulder of the woman. He knew it would be startling but. Well he had to address the behemoth in the room somehow.
"Don't worry. It's not a bad thing, if anything you just came into something very rare. This lil guy, girl? Maybe. Well. They're your partner and that... well. Your phone is now something called a digivice. It links you to your partner."
His voice was steady, gentle and patient. He didn't seem to mind backing off if needed and would hold up his stark white D-1.
"They come in a variety of designs, but there are more common ones for tamers and such."

The low pitch whine continued until the man's hand placed on her shoulder, her eyes wide with slight panicked. She breathed deeply, pushing her glasses up to rub the bridge of her nose. "Ok...ok...I've read enough about American transfer students...suddenly getting a cute...magical...imp...Anime prepared me for this...in a way. Ok, so...there's some...evil overlord and the - what did you call them - digimon need us to help defeat him/her then they'll go home?" She asked earnestly, looking at the scarred man with unusual calm, as if suddenly she had solved a rather complex math problem and needed another person to confirm her calculations. She glanced down at the small creature cupped in her hand, mouthing the word "partner" and "Kumamon" before gasping. "Wait! You're a mechanic? Ah! This way! I can have my pay docked 60 euro! Please!" Katherine announced, cupping the small being in her hands while rushing into a side room that was full of cleaning supplies, several to-scan book piles and the smoke-stained scanner.
