Top eight, huh? Its time to make this a little more on the nose!Volcanic GroundsAt first glance, the battlefield before Amelie and Amaranthus didn’t seem too ‘exciting’. It was hostile, sure: smoke and ash choked the air, the rough ground underneath covered with about an inch of volcanic ash. Discomfort alone did not make for an interesting arena… … Though the constant rumbling felt through their feet hinted at something else. The rock below seemed strong and durable enough, perhaps enough to take a hit from a mega or two – but to those daring enough, if the rock were to splinter, the lava below would rush up in an impressive geyser! Even without that, though, the slow descent of ash would make it hard for both parties to breathe or ventilate properly, and sightlines were hardly perfect. Who will come out on top amidst this natural landmine? Amelie versus Amaranthus

Top eight definitely sounded like a nice number. In all honesty? Amelie didn't expect to find herself that far into this competition. What did that mean? It meant that the whole business had gotten a lot more serious. As soon as the human had been thrown into the makeshift arena, a coughing fit made plenty obvious that her throat and lungs didn't appreciate the new battlefield. Normally, she'd have greeted her opponent and at least have shown some sportsmanship, but... like this? She could barely breathe, let alone talk. And that wasn't to say that her teary eyes could barely focus on the blurry location where her opponent was supposed to be. Not the most optimal start. Oh well, tough luck. There wasn't much left for her rather than to evolve, her D-Tector happily obliging; a split second afterward, Enigmon made its presence known in the battlefield, and Amelie thanked inwardly for not needing to breathe nor see anymore, and hopefully until the fight was over. The hulking abomination stood in a scrambled recollection of tendrils; the crystal containing its digicore? Currently located on the lower side of its 'rear', if it could be called that. What would be the aberration's first movement? A section of its body's growths hardened into a thick spear; said section was then detached from the digimon's body, and promptly hurled in Amaranthus' direction like a missile. Time to think fast!
Turn recap! —Amelie evolves to Enigmon.
—Enigmon uses Fractured Identity, aiming at Amaranthus' general direction.
*Fractured Identity: The target has the effects of two of their passive abilities instantly reversed and takes a moderate amount of damage per post while this ability lasts. If there isn't a clear opposite to the passive's effect, those are nullified for this attack's duration. Toggleable passives can't be disabled while this effect is active. Duration: 3 posts. Cooldown: 2 posts.
Relevant passives currently active: *Eldritch Might: The damage and effectiveness of all the abilities this digimon may perform are increased by 30%.
*Warped Feedback: Despite its usual and relatively harmless constitution, Enigmon's body has the ability to temporarily alter the data makeshift of anything it touches. Upon striking or being struck by an attack and for one post afterward, if the digimon who came in contact with Enigmon would be healed or regain health in any way, they lose that much health instead. Attacks that would leech or drain vitality off Enigmon suffer the same consequences. Keeping track of Ability stuff. —Cryptic Reclamation becomes replaced by New Perspectives. *Cryptic Reclamation [Passive Ability]: This ability can be replaced by any passive ability this digimon has learned about. When this ability changes, it must remain active for at least three posts before being able to be changed again.
*New Perspectives [Passive Ability]: Once every three posts, this digimon can vanish briefly, then reappear at a nearby location, almost as if space itself had folded to its whims. This can be used to set up attacks or get out of harm's way more efficiently.
—Stolen Memento becomes replaced by Unnatural Endurance. *Stolen Memento [Passive Ability]: This ability can be replaced by any passive ability this digimon has learned about. When this ability changes, it must remain active for at least three posts before being able to be changed again.
*Unnatural Endurance [Passive Ability]: Non-self-inflicted negative status effects are only half as effective on Enigmon. If the status' effect can't be quantified, it lasts half as long (rounded down) instead.
—Eldritch Harvest becomes replaced by Fractured Identity. *Eldritch Harvest: This ability can be replaced by any active ability this digimon has learned about. This ability is subject to the cooldown of the last ability that it mimicked. When this ability changes, it must remain as it is for at least three posts before being able to be changed again.
*New Perspectives has been active for 1 post. *Unnatural Endurance has been active for 1 post. *Fractured Identity has been active for 1 post. Enigmon's 'known ability' list for the purposes of this battle. —Passive Abilities ——Eldritch Lore: This ability lets this digimon enhance an ability performed by itself or a willing ally, providing the following effects to it: the duration of the ability's secondary effects are lengthened by two posts, the ability can't be affected by opposing passives in any way and can't be blocked, cleansed or tampered with by enemies in any way. If applied to an ability that has a radius (like a field effect, for example), its radius is also doubled and the ability is also able to discern which targets to affect and which not to (at Enigmon's discretion). This ability can't prolong the length of any stun, immobilize, sleep or any other form of hard disabling abilities. ——New Perspectives: Once every three posts, this digimon can vanish briefly, then reappear at a nearby location, almost as if space itself had folded to its whims. This can be used to set up attacks or get out of harm's way more efficiently. ——Unnatural Endurance: Non-self-inflicted negative status effects are only half as effective on Enigmon. If the status' effect can't be quantified, it lasts half as long (rounded down) instead. ——Unstable Manifestation: Most digimons find out that Enigmon's data makeup is highly unstable, prolonged contact or even interacting with its form being a dangerous endeavor at best. Each time Enigmon is struck by an attack, it can choose to increment the duration of an ongoing effect the attacking digimon has by one post. This is accompanied by a measure of psychical grief and physical pain for flavor purposes, mostly; this ability deals no significant damage. —Active Abilities ——Fractured Identity: The target has the effects of two of their passive abilities instantly reversed and takes a moderate amount of damage per post while this ability lasts. If there isn't a clear opposite to the passive's effect, those are nullified for this attack's duration. Toggleable passives can't be disabled while this effect is active. Duration: 3 posts. Cooldown: 2 posts. ——Noxious Field: Enigmon releases an enormous amount of ink that volatilizes instantly, forming a 100-meter radius field. Due to its conductive properties, this ability inflicts a small amount of damage to any digimon inside of it every post while also lowering their speed by 50%. Enigmon is not affected by this ink field in any way. Duration: 3 posts. Cooldown: 3 posts. ——The Queen in Purple: Almost as if it were divine providence, the sky above splits to make way to a spark of pure, unadulterated power. It descends in the blink of an eye, causing nothing short of catastrophic damage in a small area. Anyone afflicted by this ability is driven temporarily insane, either injuring themselves or their closest ally with an ability of Enigmon's choice and ignoring its cooldown, as long as she has knowledge of it (random otherwise). She can't manipulate anyone into using once per thread abilities. Duration: 1 post. Cooldown: once per thread. 3 posts if it fails to damage any digimon or human. ——Warp and Bend: Eldritch energy accumulates within Enigmon's maws, concentrating into a wave directed at an enemy. Deals a significant amount of damage if hits, then deals a moderate amount of damage per post, and nullifies any and all flight and/or swim-related abilities of the target (in other words, the target is not able to move through the air and/or water in any way while this effect lasts). Overland abilities are unaffected. Duration: 3 posts. Cooldown: 2 posts.

Fire and brimstone, smoldering the air itself… Well, it might not have been a hospitable environment for humans, or 98% of lifeforms… but Amaranthus thought it quite climatic! The fiery-hellscape and its hostile conditions tugged at the Mephistomon X's heart with excitement, though not as much as her opponent's presence! This girl was on a win-streak of 2 wins… and honestly from some of the glimpses she had caught from the prior matches, they well deserved it! Compared to that cocky tamer boy and his card game-monster reject of a partner, she had much to be excited for. She had never faced against a Spirit Wielder, and with the stakes higher than ever! The demoness had the crystal-affixed to her - left hand… though with the petite human taking on soon enough a highly-monstrous (even by Digimon standards no less) visage of sinuous flesh and carapace, this form of hers would not do against such a foe! Folding her parasol (it evaporating into flames), the Mephistomon X smiled even against the cthuluoid beast before her as she soon clutched at her chest with both hands… an audible tear as the demons tore at her own flesh and eviscerated herself in half. This was not suicide though… like a twisted pupa, papillon wings burst from the hollow shell of the ewe as what appeared to the nude figure of a buxom human woman lurch out, wreathed in darkness that molded into an elegant robe that clothed them… a manic smile on the X-variant Lilithmon as she soon took up a battle pose. "I wonder… Does your human heart bleed with your core? Can you scream without a mouth…? Let us find out."Taunts aside, Amaranthus wasted no time faced with her opponent's movements… with an elegant leap back (taking care to note where lava was spewing), the demon lord jumped over the marrow-esque projectile that threatened to skewer her. She with her prior match was able to afford being a bit playful, but against a Mega…? There was no time for toying around… she didn't know just what this thing was capable of, and with her own core on the line? She was to say the least hesitant. Rather then launch an immediate attack, the demoness gathered darkness that wreathed her form… bolstering her combat attributes as she gazed at gargantuan form that girl had taken on. What was the best approach…? Their weakpoint as well…? These were question dwelling in the Lilithmon X's mind… ones that she needed to answer if she wanted to win this match.
Amaranthus has Digivolved to Lilithmon X. She evades the projectile from Enigmon and uses Payment Received to increase her combat attributes briefly. [RAM UPGRADE] Payment Received - Lilithmon X draws power from her Dark Contracts, gaining might from those who have dealed with her. For three turns, Lilithmon X gains a 10% boost to her all of her stats... increasing by a further 4% for every Apostle player account she has made a contract with. OOCly, she can only benefit from this for 1 character per player. If that player has not been on-site for 3 months, this benefit vanishes until then. The max boost this can offer is 50%. (Cooldown: 3 Turns) Passives [PASSIVE] Hopeless - : Lilithmon X is not a pleasant being to fight against… her every mannerism and movement signifies a being that seeks to toy with you. Indeed, her presence saps away at the fighting spirit of foes… injuries inflicted by Lilithmon X eat away at one's physical and mental stamina more easily, causing foes to run out of strength faster than normal.
[PASSIVE] Deus Nazar Nail - Lilithmon X's Nazar Nail on her right arm is a deadly weapon that is an antithesis to all Digital Life. Capable of extending out into meter-long sabres, this golden claw excels at punishing foes who get too close while also acting as a focus for her magic attacks. Alongside a minor boost to her attack power, damage dealt from Lilithmon X's attacks corrodes the data structure of foes. Effectively, each blow reduces the opponent's max health by half the damage dealt... making healing off attacks increasingly difficult over the course of a fight. This effect ends once combat ends.
Durations: Payment Received: 3 Turns (10% Boost) Cooldowns: Payment Received: Waiting

It had been a true pity; while both Amaranthus' taunts and unique evolution sequence deserved to be commented upon —not to say, replied in kind when fitting—, that wouldn't be possible for Enigmon; the beast was hopelessly deprived of even the most basic forms of sight, hearing and speech. Truly, a wasted opportunity. Right now? Enigmon was fully focused on the battle ahead, rather than in flashy shows or dramatic displays; Amelie had to maintain a coold head, and most importantly, not let her emotions get the best of her. When facing Silence, that slip had costed her dearly; repeating it would be a complete show of foolishness. Thus, the fight had begun; her first attempt at attacking had been evaded swiftly, the piece of living artillery embedding itself on the ground where the Lilithmon variant had stood moments ago. The rocks creaked loudly, even though they hadn't managed to break just yet; the missile decomposed and vanished soon afterward. Enigmon could sense how the darkness swirled around her opponent, and concentrated on strengthening her form; even though the aberration didn't know what would come from this ability, one thing was for sure; this wasn't an offensive trick, or if it was, it wasn't an obvious one. What did that mean? It meant it was time to press the assault; for now, the monstrosity would keep its distance, lightly hovering over the smoldering rocks while preparing its next movement; along the sinewy structure that could be considered the digimon's head, energy was beginning to gather at an alarming rate. Purple, pink, red, blue and other colors began to coalesce at the point of the appendage for some brief instants before an impressive wave was unleashed outward, once again aimed in Lilithmon's direction. The radius of the attack was fairly bigger when compared to its predecessor; it'd be interesting to see her trying to avoid it with something as simple as stepping back, especially with the amount of lava that'd surge soon after the ability found its mark. How would she react? That'd be interesting to behold. For now, Enigmon would just continue to hover at a decent distance away from its opponent; far enough to be able to react appropriately if the situation called for it, but close enough to be at striking range of most of her abilities.
Turn recap! —Enigmon positions itself slightly above the burning rocks and closes into striking range.
—Then uses Warp and Bend with the intention to tear through Amaranthus and/or the nearby terrain.
