It was a long way out of the city and towards the foot of the mountain, so the fact Justice! had some questions was probably a good thing. The conversation would progress normally while the crew walked along the rabbits. A lot of things to tackle in that conversation, though!
“A Fladramon is the name of the dragon digimon you saw at the poster. That’s the name of the species.” Xiang-Wu went to clarify. “The actual name of the dragon lady is Emilhy, though. Like… you know how my name is Xiang-Wu, right? Well, the name of my species is actually Galgomon. Just like your partner’s name is Ascalon but he’s a Stingmon.” That couple of examples should be enough to leave things clear, right?
Now, the answer to the Treasure Hunter question was a lot more elaborated!
Xiu-Ying nodded while she listened to Katherine’s input, her arms folded. “You’re kind of right… and at the same time, you’re not.” She added. “In the past, the Treasure Hunters were individuals that dedicated their lives to finding valuable treasures.”
“The one who is said to have found Astrivia, more than seven hundred years ago, is said to have been a Treasure Hunter.” Xiang-Wu added to his sister’s statement. If any of the members of the crew didn’t know about the Astrivia Legend, the Galgomon would proceed to tell it to them immediately. Once he was done with that, at least they would have an idea of what the concept of Treasure Hunters was in the past.
But now! It was time for a current description of the name.
“But now things have changed. Right now, the term Treasure Hunter is used to refer to a pirate who holds great power, intelligence or influences over the sea. They usually represent a huge threat for the Navy and we have a strict order to capture every Treasure Hunter or member of their crews. Being in the crew of a Treasure Hunter instantly means you’re a wanted criminal.” That made a lot of sense. “Since, by the old concept, Treasure Hunters were already seen like liars and cheaters by most digimon, we took advantage of the name being stained to use it to denote these dangerous criminals, just so it caught up quickly.”
“To sum up, Treasure Hunters are extremely strong or influential pirates that represent a threat for everyone.” The Galgomon added, placing both guns on the back of his head. “They are pirates with a terrifying level of power and/or pirates who have committed important crimes against the Navy or any of the states established in each island. Right now, less than 12 pirates in the sea have that name.” And that seemed to be enough to leave that clear!
Xiu-Ying quickly glanced at Adam before answering his next question. “The situation in the Southern Tropics is complex to say the last. Once people started believing in the possibility of Astrivia being real, pirates everywhere have sailed to try to find the mythic land. Many believe an immense source of power or wealth is hiding there.” She let out a sigh. “If you ask me, it sounds like a bunch of nonsense. But, as I said, in case it’s true, the Navy can’t let dangerous criminals like the Treasure Hunters put their hands on whatever is there first.” The Turuiemon added.
To the next question, Xiang-Wu's ears twitched a bit. “Sadly, the way the Navy is organized is something we’re not allowed to discuss with just anyone. The only thing I can tell you is that we, Lieutenants, are far from the highest rank in the Navy. Commanders and Admirals are still above us, while we’re above some other lower ranks.” Not too specific, but not bad at all! That meant the Navy was a quite powerful organization, then.
“A passage to the island in question… as a reward?” Xiu-Ying quirked an eyebrow at Ascalon’s statement. “I thought adventure was your reward.” An ironical tone of voice accompanied that sentence. “What ‘island in question’ are you talking about, exactly?”
Katherine questions posited a very interesting side of the whole matter. They were focused on the Lunamon. Considering the Lieutenants seemed to know some things about the digimon, it was probably worth asking more about her.
“For what we know, it’s very likely that Gotsumon and his partner were interested in the item she was carrying. The one inside the bag.” Xiu-Ying noted, looking at the sky with a pensive expression on her face. “If I had to conclude anything right now, I would say it was a case of a thief robbing a thief, honestly.”
“If that’s the case, I would say she didn’t trick you.” Xiang-Wu remarked. “She was actually being robbed. The thing is, she’s a thief too.” He glanced at his sister for a second. “If the item inside that bag is what we think it is, I don’t find surprising that Gotsumon stole it. That thing is worth millions of bits to some.”
"... And that's why we might get our promotion when we catch her." His sister added, firmly.
To Algernon's question, Xiang-Wu blinked twice. "I don't think so." He answered. "We're not too different, but..." He muttered while looking at the guns on his own hands. "I think you're a lot more... virus-y than we are." The Galgomon added. "I like your energy, though. Have you considered joining the Navy?" He asked the silver-pelted rabbit.
"... You can't just go around asking that to anyone."
