"Pencils down!" Adam let out a groan as he remembered the test, the words echoing in his mind. He was sure he'd failed the exam once again. He'd spent all of the last month focusing on various other niche interests, like the most popular mecha anime, how to build traps, and working on his butler posture. Sure the work was nice and the distractions were fun, but if he kept failing this exam he wasn't going to get into the school he wanted to be in. He wouldn't be able to finish his book, and more importantly, he'd be stuck in this rut for who knows how long. He looked over the railing at the trashed gulley, sighing. "We both need something major to happen to us, don't we?" He mumbled to the river, not minding if people stared.
In his pocket, something lit up without his knowledge. The small keepsake he'd had for a very long time flickered to life, the screen reading "BOOT UP" as a small progress bar began to slowly fill. It might take a bit to fill, but things would be in motion now.
Adam looked up, frowning. Had he heard something just now? Off near the edge of the river?

The creature did not have a concept of what time was in this world, simply that the sun rose and went down inevitably. Nonetheless, he had to abide by one thing. Keep moving. If he kept moving, -they- wouldn't catch him. Simple as that. Luckily, this particular spot of Shibuya was a place visited by few thanks to it being a dump, but there was one thing that caught the attention of the green-eyed, long-necked monster. Yes, a human...That didn't seem to have any other 'mon with him. -That- was the noise that Adam heard, a ebon-scaled dinosaur looking creature stomping up towards him and a soul-piercing stare bearing down at him. "Yyyyyoooou...." He(?) hissed. "Ttttaaaame meeeee..." ... Probably not the best thing to open up with, all things considered. What would he do?

Adam's a bit caught offguard by the odd dinosaur. Dinosaur. This should not be possible. Dinosaurs did not exist in Shibuya. Well they shouldn't. Oh lord this one can TALK? Adam looks it back in the eyes, curiousity and a mad grin spreading across his face. "Tame you? You think I'm capable of something like that? If... If I could I think I'd like to. You seem fascinating, what are you?"
There's a loud buzzing from overhead as a large insectoid being fires a few rounds from his arm cannon at the ebon creature. "Back, Dragon! I shan't allow you to corrupt the King with your vile nature!" The idea was to put a few spikes between the Human and the Dinosaur Digimon, but if a few hit the opponent, the bug wouldn't complain. He lands lightly on his feet, standing in front of Adam before glancing back over his shoulder. "I'm sorry it took me so long to find you, my liege. I am Ascalon, and I shall be your Spear. Please, direct me in the fight against this beast!"
Adam looks a mixture of confused and excited, not sure who these two are, but suddenly reminded of many games he'd played in the past. "Didn't he want to be friends too? Why can't he join us?" More party members are better, surely..
Ascalon scoffs. "A cur such as him? His intelligence has obviously been degraded beyond recognition. Others may join us, but he does not meet the standards of one as noble as you, Sire!" He readies his fists, turning his attention to the dinosaur once more. "Come, have at you!"

See, the long-necked Saurian was not expecting what he was assuming to be a proper, champion level Stingmon appear in front of the human. Was -that- his partner? Because he felt like some sort of mistake had been made, or that fate was pulling some sort of fast one on him.
"Drrragon? Fool...Fool! Iiii am blessed! Blessed beyond comprehension!" Long Neck snarled, fire forming in his maw as he sought to counter that display of Ascalon's with his own, loosing a stream of red hot flames out towards the bug. It seemed as though the Stingmon had actually managed to anger the BlackAgumon X in one fell swoop! Relevant Passives:
Ebon-Scaled Predator: A long-necked beast of a saurian, Long Neck is realistically something you want to avoid on a good day, but alas, this day is far from good, is it? This BlackAgumon X deals 30% more damage than it’s inferior, regular and non-striped variants. Whatever the intent of Ascalon's Moon Shooter (I'm assuming that was Moon Shooter) was, it worked. There's distance between him and Long Neck, now, but Long Neck retaliates with BB Burner, which will now be revealed below.
BB Burner: BlackAgumon X spits out a stream of flames hot enough to make an opponent cry like an anime fan on prom night. Two turn cooldown.

Ascalon and Adam split up, dodging the stream of fire! Well, mostly. The bottom of Adam's coat catches, and he hurries to put it out as Ascalon circles the BlackAgumon X, bringing his hands up again. With a loud SHUNK, the spikes inside the gauntlets come to bear, and he lunges forward, aiming strikes at the dinosaur. "Blessed with hubris, maybe! Stay away from my Liege!" He growls, swiping and trying to either damage or drive the beast towards the railing! He would not be had that easily!
Adam, meanwhile, was in a bit of a panic. Okay. Fine. This was real. The fire proved that. It was hot, and eating away at his labcoat as he tried to put it out. He was... mildly successful, getting most But there was some he just couldn't reach... The River. The river! If he could get to the river, he could use the water to put this out! He began hurrying towards the railing, not noticing that that was where Stingmon was attempting to lead his foe.
BlackAgumon X's BB burner did not hit its intended target, but it did hit Adam, and has him in a mild panic! Ascalon's retaliating with Spiking Strike, as revealed below.
Spiking Strike: Ascalon extends both spikes past his hands, to attack or defend.

Odd, would a Stingmon not be quicker than Long Neck's eyes? Nonetheless, the BlackAgumon X put up his dukes to absorb the sharp swipes, being slowly driven towards the railing. Of course, getting the Stingmon up close was -actually something he was hoping would occur.-
See, Long Neck had a rather effective method of dealing with melee attackers. A simple, yet terrible effective one. He swung a claw forward, aimed right at the center of the Stingmon with a surprising amount of force, meant entirely to pierce chitin and drive the bug back if it hit! "Hubrissss....Yes, you underessssstimate me...Ssssuch is your downfall..." Long Neck hissed.
Was this bout about to turn into a tug of war? Relevant Passives:
Ebon-Scaled Predator: A long-necked beast of a saurian, Long Neck is realistically something you want to avoid on a good day, but alas, this day is far from good, is it? This BlackAgumon X deals 30% more damage than it’s inferior, regular and non-striped variants.
Long Neck raises his arms to try mitigating some of the damage from Ascalon's Spiking Strike, and to his credit? Scales can hold up a bit against swipes. But, they still hurt like hell. Being slowly driven to the railing, he counterattacks with Rock Breaker!
Rock Breaker: BlackAgumon X aims a targeted, precise strike at an opponent that can pierce shields utilizing his claws. Aptly titled because it’s strong enough to pierce through boulders. Two turn cooldown.
Cooldowns: BB Burner: 1/2 Rock Breaker: 0/2

Adam hurried into the river, using what little water there was to extinguish his coat. He let out a small groan, as the edge was in burnt tatters now. Well, he supposed it did lend an air of danger to his jacket... Heck, maybe he could even use it for cosplay. That might be fun. But more importantly, his jacket was no longer on fire and... what was that noise? Like... a Dial Up connection?
Ascalon was having a time of it. He wasn't as strong as he should be. Nowhere near. He had been reduced to this... LESSER form, and because of it he was having trouble with this INFANT. He growled, sensing the windup with his antennae and starts to back off, but not quite in time. The claws scrape across his thorax, leaving some fairly painful and deep scratches. He growls, countering with another blow of Spiking Strike, this time aiming at his opponent's face. He was so much weaker than before. This would not do. He could not allow this to happen, and he refused to lose, not so soon after meeting his new liege! Not now, not ever!
Relevant Passives:
Evil Antenna: Ascalon's Antennae act as a ranged sensor, being able to detect movement in a limited range around him. This range isn't very far, but it can detect some sneak attacks unless the opponent is moving at high speed. It can also be used to locate allies or moving objects within a radius. If he focuses outside of combat, he can find non-moving objects of interest, almost like sonar. The range does not increase with focus.
Using Evil Antenna, Ascalon was able to mitigate some, but not all, of the damage from Rock Breaker. Sensing an opportunity, he counters with another Spiking Strike, hoping to catch his opponent off guard for a good amount of damage! He has not noticed the new danger Adam is in.

Close range was not a very nice place to be in when your opponent was a dinosaur, all things considered. Then again, any range was fair game in the eyes of Long Neck, The Terrible. "Yessss...I understand now!" The beast snarled, before it let out what could be called a cackle.
"Not a true champion! Ssssssimply a mere component!" Perhaps Long Neck was a little smarter than one might think if he was able to distinguish what kind of partner Ascalon had been, especially since his Spiking Strike pierced one of Long Neck's scales, data starting to pour out of there. The BlackAgumon X tensed up, a ball of black flames forming in one of his claws that genuinely oozed with awful vibes. "Die."
...Awfully plain and simple there, but he launched that sphere right at Ascalon. It was fairly short range, but the possibility it might miss was still there. Though, the moment it touched...anything?
It'd go boom. It was like a grenade in terms of explosive properties.
Long Neck suffers another strike to the face, and has to back up some. But, he realizes that he's just fighting a primary partner, has a chuckle, and then uses Hades Force.
Hades Force: ...BlackAgumon X channels the collective negative karma of humanity into a ball the size of his palm before he fires it at a high velocity towards one foe for massive damage, for a rookie, with an explosion to boot. Capable of massive amounts of collateral! Three turn cooldown.
It's not a WarGreymon-sized attack.

Adam stepped towards the underpass, where the river went under a bridge, his eyes having trouble focusing. It wasn't that his eyes were bad, but it seemed there was something in the entrance to the tunnel. He couldn't see through it clearly like he should be able to. Instead, he saw... A blue sky? Some clouds here under the bridge? That should be impossible. He had to know more. He kept walking towards it, slowly, almost in a trance.
Ascalon, on the other hand, is through playing. His wings rev up as Long Neck taunts him, calling him a simple component. This caused the Stingmon to see red, and he roared, charging straight towards the Digimon! He didn't care about the attack, setting it off prematurely as he charges with a flying tackle towards the dinosaur, arms outstretched and spikes out, aiming to tackle him over the railing and into the river! Even if he missed, his mind was clouded, and his body was aching from taking that last attack head on. He might not have much fight left in him.
Asacalon, having been mocked so cruelly by one he deems beneath him, loses his composure and is charging straight at BlackAgumonX. He takes the full brunt of the Hades Force, but there's a chance that by charging forward his opponent will be caught in the blast as well! He is unaware of this, and is only focused on using his Flight and Spiking Strike to knock his opponent into the riverbed, where he can then, hopefully, proceed to pummel him mercilessly.

There were a number of reactions that one could have to an attack like Hades Force. One could panic, one could run away, one could even swat the ball of compressed HATE away as though it were nothing and it'd be considered rather reasonable in the eyes of the irate saurian. Not this bug, however. No, Ascalon -CHARGED- right into the attack, and the moment that it touched him, a -loud- explosion erupted from where the ball was.
One that burnt at both Ascalon and Long Neck himself. Severely. In addition to this, since they were both at the epicenter of an explosion, they were hurled AWAY with severe force. Yet, neither of them seemed to be done yet. As they both plummeted into the river with the Stingmon managing to land some serious blows with his Spiking Strike, Ascalon would find that Long Neck refused to go quietly, the beast trying his damndest to fight back with blows of his own as well as a nasty bite!
...And both were being dragged by a force towards a particular point within the river...
So, with Ascalon charging in and causing Hades Force to basically detonate point blank, Long Neck is flung with him into the riverbed and takes severe damage from his own attack. Long Neck doesn't reasonably have any means to use the attack he intended to utilize here, so he's forced to rely upon basic attacks to try fending off Ascalon. Meanwhile, the accursed Shibuya river does it's work in trying to drag those who fall into it into the proverbial jaws of another world...

Adam heard the explosion, his mind unfocusing for a moment as he turned to see what the noise was. What the danger was. He saw the two digimon plunging into the river, and in that moment time seemed to slow as he absorbed all the visual information he could. Both combatants were pretty damaged, and they were plummeting towards the ground. Adam's focus snapped to Ascalon, the odd one who had shown up and protected him. He had to do something. He reached into his pocket to get something to throw, when his hand closed around the odd trinket he carried around. As he went to throw is at the dinosaur, a light caught his eye. The screen was... on. It also had a "Connected: Ascalon" message on it, along with a list of what looked like moves from a video game. Could he help Ascalon with this? It was worth a shot. "Ascalon, disengage and fly up!"
The order was beamed directly into Ascalon's head, and the Stingmon bolted to action, unwrapping himself from the dinosaur and rocketing upwards, hovering above the river. There was some breathing room between the two, and Adam nodded. "It works! Good, now use... This one, Moon Shooter!"
Once again, the order's transmission went off without a hitch, and with a small smirk, Ascalon levels his fist at the dinosaurian opponent, launching a single, oversized spike from its holster. "Yes, my liege! It seems you've finally come round! Let's drive out this insufferable beast, shall we?"
Adam didn't know about being called Liege, but this device... He'd had it for a long time, and it had never turned on before. Now it was working as a form of Scouter for this Ascalon? He had so many questions, but none of them would be answered if they lost here. "I suppose we should win the fight, huh..."
Now that Adam and Ascalon are working as a single unit, Ascalon's head has cleared. Using his superior reach and manueverability while flying, Ascalon was able to undo the grapple and escape before too many blows landed. Without the power of the other attacks behind them, he was able to ignore most of them, but one bite landed and is visible on his shoulder. He's attacking with a Moon Shooter, attempting to end the fight, here and now!

The fact he had ended up within the river proved to be quite troublesome, but it was still something he could use to his advantage. Especially since he -knew- where the river led. Yes, if he held his breath enough...Perhaps he could escape with his life. The beast dove under the surface of the water, in an attempt to obscure himself to make actually hitting him with the Moon Shooter quite difficult.
...And the spike hit the water.
...And nothing else happened from there. No, really. No ebb and flow of data from beneath the surface of the water, no Long Neck resurfacing to try taking vengeance. Nothing. Perhaps diving into the water lead to something else entirely? Only way to find out would be to actually check the water yourself.
But who'd do that, huh?

Ascalon grinned under his mask, feeling the familiar rush of data entering his body. He wasn't the sort of uncouth savage who would completely drain a digimon, but something in the monster's code interested him. An attack boost with no downside. He could have taken one of the attacks, but this seemed like the better option. He'll begin integrating it into his body as Adam steps forward again, towards the underpass.
"So the fight's over... You hear that, right Ascalon?" He kept moving towards the circle under the pass, data flowing into the air as Ascalon turns to look. Adam's hand was already in the portal, followed quickly by more of him. He was willingly diving into the unknown as Ascalon sprinted in afterwards!
The two would find themselves on quite the adventure soon, but for now, the Shibuya River went silent. The signs and sounds of battle were forgotten quickly, and things seemed to go at their own pace once again...
