K wouldn’t have wanted anything too elaborate. Mikemon knew this. The Knights knew this. But at the same time, people felt that they had to pay their respects to her. As a Knight. An Innkeeper. A friend. A mother. A hero.
It took some time, especially in the outskirts of the Cipher Jungle, but a rather respectable service was set up. The Knights decided on a small clearing, one that K had spent a few months of her life meditating in, and when they found it, the group was greeted with an interesting sight: a small, young tree, with white bark and blue, crystalline leaves. Syre quickly made the decision to set up a temporary fence to keep the interesting sapling in tact, and it quickly became the center of the memorial, a few bouquets already laid at the edges of the tree's roots.
As the memorial itself came around, well, there wasn't much in the way of scheduled events. A small set-up of chairs in front of an awning was set up, with a podium for anyone who wanted to speak their peace - but one could just as easily simply pay their own respects at the tree, spending as little or as much time as they liked (Iko, in fact, showed up two hours early, said his peace, and left before he or Luke would run into anyone else that he would recognize - he was terrible at the 'consoling' bit).
Syre stood at the 'entrance', the BlackGatomon directing people into the clearing - as it might be able to miss just passing through - while Mikemon sat in the back row of chairs, hands folded, seemingly just observing the memorial itself. Important as she was, this memorial was meant for more than just himself and his family.
This was for K.
((For sanity's sake, there is no posting order for this thread. Go ahead and post a chain with another person [or even start another thread if it gets crowded], or just make one solo post for your character's entire visit.))

Her ma would never want something over the top. She wouldn't want fancy words to be said, she wouldn't want anyone to change what they did for her. They wouldn't ever want someone to change themselves either. The sadness that was omnipresent in her absence made it difficult to adhere to what her ma would of wished. The small meicoomon sat next to her da, unable to really process what was still happening.
One day her ma had been with them, and less than a week after that day... Well she had stopped being with them, the plans for the memorial had come and gone. People had come and gone, some people she recognized, some other's that she didn't. Asking for directions or asking for what they should do.
Emotions were hard for her to fully grasp right now, she still felt distant. Everything still felt hollow to her; even the sensation of the flowers she had picked for her ma. She had picked them out herself, one after the other and made a fantastic arrangement. But they all felt off, felt like she should give them to someone that wasn't dead.
Holly's somewhat empty eyes trailed over the clearing, up and about the tree and eventually just up to the sky as the tree lead her upwards. She'd exhale slowly unable to really proccess what she was still seeing. She wanted to say something, say her piece. Say what she wanted to those that she did but quite literally cat had her tongue. Instead she'd lean against her da and grip at his arm with both hands, pushing her head against his side trying to hide herself from this fact that still was raw to her.
Could she ever properly recover?
She didn't know but her wordlessness in the presence of this place was something that even the most oblivious would notice. Her da would easily be able to comfort her but... he needed comforting too. They all really did.
Why...

It was difficult to be here. Just recently, Toki didn't want to acknowledge the pain and grief that came with K's death, especially since it happened so soon after Tsusagimon's final sacrifice. For the past few months, he's felt distant, alone, and lost. Losing those dear friends was the first time in Toki's adventure where he felt well and truly defeated. Now that he was here to properly mourn the loss, would he be able to push forward?
He sighed deeply, promising himself that he would move on. This attitude...all it's done was distance him from those he loved. It was painful, but he can't shut himself off from the world like this. It's not what they would have wanted. He smiled softly, doing his best to return to his old self.
Mikemon, Syre, and Holly were here for the memorial. If he felt terrible after K's death, he couldn't imagine what they were all going through. He approached Holly and Mikemon, unsure of what to said. Instead, he knelt down and pat both of their heads before hugging the both of them. He hoped that the gesture would be enough for now. He stood up and walked over to the tree, admiring its beauty.
With a heavy heart he decided to say his piece "I've never met anyone quite like K...and I know I'll probably never meet someone like her again. When we met, I had only recently arrived in the Digital World. Despite that, she happily helped me in my early adventures and was a valued friend and source of wisdom. She was always kind, compassionate, altruistic, and noble. She was strong and believed in a future where people could live in peace and no matter how difficult it got, she never backed down because she knew she had those who could stand by her. Friends...family...loved ones whose lives she made better through her actions."
He paused for a moment to collect his thoughts and composure for a moment "She inspired me, as I'm sure she inspired everyone here. When I heard the news that she was dying, it hit me how much her friendship meant to me. I didn't want to believe it was happening. For a while it...broke me."
Despite the sadness, Toki managed to smile "But that's not what she would have wanted. K would have wanted us to celebrate her life and cherish the moments we had with her. We can mourn her loss, but also appreciate the mark she has left on the world. She lives on through us and our actions, and I'm proud to have known her." He bowed slightly, finished with his speech as he sat down nearby. It was clear he was barely keeping it together, but to get this off his chest was something he desperately needed.

It was hard for all of them.
Mikemon knew that oh so well, especially with Holly so close. As the Meicoomon grasped to his arm and leaned against his side, the doctor brought his free arm around his daughter's back. There were no words: he just gave a pat to her back, letting the tense Meicoomon grieve. Holly was quite the sensitive one, after all, and this loss was especially hard on her. "..."
It wouldn't be long before someone else would come around. As Toki came around, he'd lower his head slightly at that pat - and return that brief hug, simply giving a word: "Thank you for coming out today. I know she meant a lot to you."
Unfortunately, that was all he could manage at the moment, soon tending to Holly once more, only looking up as Toki began to speak - a public address, given to such a small crowd. He listened, of course, learning just how much K was involved in his life - and just how hard it was to lose her. It was a feeling they shared (all of them did), but it definitely took some strength to let those words ring out to the crowd. And as his words ended, the clearing was once more silent... Seriously, why are we going here?
She was a dear friend, of course. Besides, didn't you know her?
The internal monologue belonged to the next visitor - a peculiar Renamon, wearing the mask of a Reppamon and a blue scarf around her neck. Syre blinked as this fox simply 'appeared' at the entrance, but it was clear that Angel's attention wasn't on the cat.
No, seriously. A Renamon attending the funeral of another Renamon? All I'm going to do is throw everything out of whack-
Angel, I'm in your core. I know what you're actually thinking.
At that, Angel stopped. Not at the mask's words, no, but at the man sitting on one of the chairs. Toki - a dear friend to herself. Sensing the moment, the Reppamon broke the Xros, leaving a 'normal' Renamon and the bladed weasel standing next to him. "Do what you will, Angel. I'll be taking my time."
"... Tch..."
The Reppamon moved up to the tree. Unlike most here, there was not sadness in his pose - simply a reverent respect for the fallen. He came close, and before the tree, gave a bow, pressing his chin against the dirt. "From dust we come, to dust we return to the earth. Our life becoming the seed to the next, the roots of our vibrant future."
The weasel muttered a small sermon - a prayer, one that he kept between himself and K. The Renamon, meanwhile, swallowed her pride and sat down next to Toki, her own demeanor making it hard for her to initially find the words.
"... She really never let a moment go wasted, did she." Angel sighed, shaking her head. Was that the right thing to say? Probably not, it sounded wrong - but one way or another, she found herself stretching out an arm, wrapping it right around Toki's shoulders.
The words didn't come, but the intent was there.
I'm here for you. You righteous dumbass.
