An arcade was the perfect place for Duffer. The darkness was relaxing, they didn't mind if you brought fast food in, they practically never closed, everything was never more than a couple hundred yen at a time, and he had a booth right next to the entrance, life was good. Kotemon, however, did not like this place. It was loud and blaring and the machines hurt her eyes. The last few days they'd begun strategizing how to get back home. The first step was, of course, getting a job, and so far their options were... this arcade.
"Should I put n/a for contact options or give them a digivice number or what?" Duffer asked, looking over the sheet. "Digivices don't have contact options unless it's with your partner." Kotemon sighed. "What's the use then?" "Besides binding our souls and hearts to one-another in an unbreakable bond to be forever loved and cherished? I suppose nothing." "Alright, I guess I can put in my email. Home Address rather not say, no work references, no drivers license or degrees, no emergency contacts, no social security number, no... wow this is all not good, is it Kotemon?" "I dunno, we don't usually go through all this in the digital world. Usually we just ask if you want a job and that's it. But then again, some employers just kill employees they don't like, so..."
Duffer sighed, looking at the paper in front of him. "Maybe we should go back to the digital world. At least there you get money for nothing... how much do we have left, by the way?" "A few thousand bits. Can't get it transferred to yen though." "And the digital world phones probably won't let us call internationally. You wanna go back to busking?" "I would literally rather be dead."

Yuko also happened to like this arcade. Especially this old Fatal Kombat machine she was sitting in front of. Fatal Kombat was love, Fatal Kombat was life! Sure, the game had come out before she had even been born, its graphics looked horribly outdated and had been deemed far too violent by every concerned parent group on the planet, but she loved it to death. Speaking of death. “Haha, yes! You’re dead, asshole!” Yuko triumphantly exclaimed, after killing her latest CPU opponent in a graphic explosion of blood and gore.
Jokermon was also with her, under his human disguise of Jack White, a flamboyant European gentleman with the most fabulous fashion sense. “So, what flowers should I get for Hana? Does she like roses, or is she more of a posey person?” He asked, while leaning over his Tamer’s shoulder. “I thought I told you to stop hitting on my Mom! Wait…” Yuko suddenly froze, pale as a sheet. “I’m having a feeling of deja vu. I’ve been here before…” “You’ve been here plenty of times before to my understanding.” Jack White shrugged her paranoia off. “No, I mean I feel like we’ve had this exact conversation before, on this exact spot, while another Tamer was standing a few feet across from us.”
Yes, it was kinda hard not to notice the child-sized reptile wearing a kendo uniform. At least Jokermon bothered to use his Holo-Suit, even if said Holo-Suit didn’t remotely make him look like a normal, everyday person. This one was out in plain sight! For the time being, Yuko wouldn’t establish contact with them, opting to just watch from a distance.

Little did either of the other Tamers know that there was another, third pair in the vicinity, perhaps a bit more disguised than the others, for it merely looks like a green haired woman and a blonde, both in similar red clothing. The one with the striking emerald locks leans against a wall, reading a book and trying not to let the flashing lights or noise get to her, the other, the blonde, is playing a racing game, clearly frustrated at it judging by how she shoves the machine slightly upon losing once more.
"No, you're done with this game. You've spent enough on it and seem to only be getting angrier." Alice rolls her eyes as she hears her partner's sounds of frustration, no longer handing her friend any coins. "We don't want a repeat where you almost blew our cover."
"Yeah, yeah... I get it." The blonde stops playing the game, and while most certainly looking human for the most part, the sharp teeth she has when she grins are a clear indicator something isn't right. "So, uhh... This place is open almost all night. Got anything you wanna try out?"
Alice shakes her head, closing her book and tossing Dorothy another 100 yen coin. "Not particularly. Find something a bit less stressful to play, will you?" It's then that she finally notices the Kotemon, the unmistakable appearance of a Digimon confusing her. "Wait a second... Didn't know this place was that popular." She approaches the two slowly, trying to seem friendly despite her slightly cold demeanor and height, something undeniably a bit intimidating to some people. "How's it going at this late of an hour? You seem a bit... Confused."
Dorothy seems to have taken an interest in the pair as well, approaching alongside Alice and basically indistinguishable from an average human being save for her actions and innate familiarity with Digimon. Holosuits truly are strange. "Hey, what's with you two? What's got Dork Queen so interested in ya?" Her eyes almost immediately glance to the supposed Tamer of the Kotemon, and she grins, razor sharp teeth hinting at her true nature. "Thinkin' of causing trouble?"
"Dorothy, please. These two don't seem very interested in that sort of thing."

As Duffer looked over the job app, Kotemon spotted the girls approaching. "Hey, look, you must've done something right." Duffer turned to look right at the two women, feeling his face flush and blush. "I-I..." Oh boy, two pretty girls were picking on him, just like those dreams he had in high school. "I'm just just trying to apply for a job here, I- I'm sorry, I just..." He blushed harder at the mention of trouble, that is until he realized Dorothy was a digimon. "O-oh! A di-" he cut himself off. "I'm Duffer, this is... Kody. With a K. He's my little brother."
"And you two must be 'sisters' in the same vein then." Kotemon observed. "As Duffer said he's trying to get a job here." "And do you- I mean- would you- Wh-what are you two doing here?" He asked, trying to act normal as the two women asked about him. "Oh- oh! Do you want to um..." He scooted over and offered them a spot in the booth. "Sorry about Duffer, he likes tall girls." "Kotemon!" He said, annoyed. "I mean, not that I don't! I mean, I like a lot of girls, it's just you girls are... I'm not good at talking to girls who aren't my friends... yet?" He asked, hopeful.

“So, what’s the little one called again?” Yuko asked her extravagantly-dressed partner. “Kotemon.” He whispered back, cupping his hand next to his mouth. “They’re quiet folk. They usually keep to themselves and their swordsman training. Nobody has ever seen one without their helmet on.” “I see, so it’s kinda like a Cubone.” The young delinquent nodded to herself. “A what?” “Never mind.”
A Kotemon could probably pass off as a kid wearing a chuuni costume, if one didn’t actually stare at their dinosaur feet. And let’s be honest, how often did people stare down at other people’s feet? Only weirdos did that. Speaking off, another pair soon came up, and boy did those ladies stand out! A woman of Amazonian height, sporting natural green hair, while her partner was blonde and had a very… shall we say ‘round’ physique. The awkward youth hanging out with the Kotemon was practically drooling, and no doubt a lot more men in the vicinity would be gawking at them.
“Well, this got interesting…” Yuko muttered. She didn’t interfere just yet, because she thought it would be rude to butt into such a wholesome scene, but she did become more proactive in her attempts to eavesdrop on them, leaning hard enough for her head to stick out from behind her booth.

For now, the pair of slightly unusual ladies isn't really aware of the other duo, mostly focused on the Kotemon and their Tamer. The green haired woman seems to roll her eyes at the lie that this strange creature is his brother, but plays along for now. "Oh, I'm sorry, He's in a very strange outfit, that's for sure. I assume he's a particularly odd sort." She narrows her eyes slightly as she turns her attention to the human of the pair, and the rather... odd way Duffer is looking at her. "...Is there a problem?"
"Uhh, I think he likes ya." Dorothy comments as she nudges Alice, even more doubtful of the lie the two made, mostly because she can see right through it as a Digimon herself. "Well, if ya ever need help with nerd stuff, I'm pretty sure she can help!" She laughs somewhat loudly, throwing her head back and clearly finding the situation a bit entertaining as she sits down next to the pair in the booth.
Alice's expression turns to her usual, hard to read one as she opens up the book, the tall green haired woman slightly frowning. "Don't worry about it. Anyways, what brings you to this place at this time of night? Dorothy's the one interested in games, so I mostly take this time to write." Her eyes glance across the rest of the cabinets, swearing she heard something, someone else here, but at the same time, she can't be certain. "You don't need to hide the truth from me, I'm mostly just curious."
Dorothy just grins at the comment. "You're curious 'bout everything, Dork Queen."
"That said, I'm curious to learn about your experiences... If it's okay to ask, of course. I'm Alice, by the way, and you are?" Hopefully she hasn't made a bad first impression.

He gulped, trying to push his intimidation of a pretty girl down and away for a bit, even as the two sat next to him. He blushed as they made fun of his excuses.
"No, I am serious. People call me Duffer." The boy explained. "I'm trying to get a job to get some cash to contact my parents back in the states... it's kind of a long story." He looked down at the mostly blank resume and passed it to Alice and Dorothy. "Obviously I've been having troubles since I've been..." He looked around to make sure nobody was listening to them. "Stuck in the Digital World."
"But that's not important. I'm Kotemon, his partner. More like an equal at this point." "My best friend, when I called him a brother it wasn't exactly a lie." "Back on topic, trying to get a job to get back to his parents in America. Bits don't transfer to yen terribly well, you see."
"Oh, wait, are they both digimon?" Duffer whispered to Kotemon. "Do you suspect all women who're interested in you to be digimon?" "She's almost a foot taller than me..." "Like that's a hard hurdle to leap. One of them's the digimon, one is the tamer, you just have to keep your wits about until you figure it out." "Can't you tell me which is which?" "It's more fun this way." Kotemon snickered.
Duffer turned his attention back to the two, smiling. "And Uh... yeah... Kody's right. I do kinda... think you are... um... I'm sorry I... Lemme just..." He leaped out the back of the seat and ran to the bathroom, leaving Kotemon alone with the two girls.

“Did he say his name is Duster? I couldn’t hear…” Yuko whispered, almost catching the boy’s name, but being off by a few letters. That was a Westerner’s name, alright, and he looked pretty Caucasian. Same went for the really tall girl, Alice her name was. They definitely did NOT make women that size in Japan! “What’s with Shibuya having so many foreigners, and how is it that all of them are connected to Digimon somehow?” She asked her partner’s opinion, only to realize that he was no longer standing by her side. “J-Jokah…?”
As soon as ‘Duster’ ran off to the bathroom, a tall and lean, blond-haired man approached the two women. He was easy on the eyes, and was clad in a bright purple suit adorned in exotic flowers and peacock feathers. How extravagant! “Dear me, I’ve never seen a young man run off to the lavatory in such a hurry before! Though I suppose monsters of the digital variety can be quite intimidating… Oh, where are my manners! You may call me Jack White.” This man - who was obviously a Digimon in disguise - walked up to Dorothy, held her hand gently in his own and kissed it loudly. “Mmmwah~ Enchanté, mademoiselle. By the way, my partner is over there behind the arcade machine.” He pointed at the still hiding Yuko.

The emerald haired woman lets out a sigh as she sees the mostly blank sheet of paper, the desperation of this rather unusual pair more than a little obvious to her. Even if she isn't all too well off, especially with Dorothy, she at least has a reliable source of income, something that Duffer and Kotemon lack. "...Ah, let me think for a second..." She taps her fingers against her other arm before speaking up. "My guess is that you got sucked into the Digital World by some sort of phenomenon, perhaps a portal, and when you managed to get out with your new friend, you found yourself in Japan..." She speaks in English briefly, almost relieved to be able to talk in her native tongue, if only for a moment. "Hah, that's a good guess, right?"
"C'mon, let 'em understand what you're sayin'." Dorothy rolls her eyes, overhearing the rest of the conversation and almost bursting into laughter a second time. The thought of the two folks not being able to tell which one is a Human and which one is a Digimon causes her to grin, almost finding it too funny to believe, the disguised witch Digimon watching Duffer run off in embarrassment... Until her attention is suddenly diverted by a very different individual, this extravagant, almost shockingly dressed fellow she can tell isn't normal right off the bat. "...Hey, Jack, ya kinda... Caught me off guard there." Her eyes dart around, searching for some sort of explanation, but she smiles as warmly as she can with those razor sharp teeth of hers. "Your partner's behind the arcade machine?"
"I guess someone likes you." The taller of the two can't help but smile at this, as strange and slightly odd as it is to suddenly have this unusual fellow approach the group. "Ahh... I hope he's okay, but let's discuss what's in front of us right now." She's back to looking at a book, this time writing inside her ever-present notebook, notes on people and Digimon alike being scribbled down almost obsessively. "I assume we're interesting to everyone here, and we don't need to hide our secrets. You're a Digimon, correct?"
"Well, seems like it." Dorothy's slightly unsettling blue eyes glance up at the other blonde's, and she scoots over to allow them a seat if they want to sit next to her. "She's Alice, I'm Dorothy. Kinda a digital monster myself, but it's good to meet you. The other guy kinda ran off... Wonder why?"

"I told you, Duffer's into tall girls. He finds them attractive and, evidently, if you're attractive he finds you intimidating. He used to be a foreign exchange student until... but we're getting off-track." Kotemon explained before Jokermon approached. The tiny digimon rolled its eyes at having to introduce itself again. "I am Kotemon, the coward who ran away is Duffer. He's probably going off to try and collect himself. He's worried both of you might be digimon since, evidently, human women aren't usually as tall as you two are. I'm not the expert on humans nor women." Duffer splashes his face in the sink, trying to do exactly what Kotemon stated. "God. I didn't think they made amazons that big." He mumbled to himself, splashing a bit more. "Come on. You've talked to girls before, these are just... girls. Tall girls. Tall, towering girls who could easily overpower you in a fight and-" He slapped himself. "Focus! Just focus! I am a man now. Just ask which one is a digimon and..." He took a deep breath. "Ask the other one out. You know, j-just a movie or a lunch, n-nothing big. I'm sure they're used to it. I-I mean look at them, th-they're perfectly gorgeous and amazing looking."
"So, a few things about me. I am the boy's mentor. I spent two years with the boy and will know if you do anything to hurt him. He is a stupid idiot who doesn't bathe as much as he should, lazes around and watches crappy movies, and will immediately try to bring up horror films as his default conversation topic. As a witchmon, I assume you'd be plenty able to humor him with the subject of scary and spooky and all-together ookie topics, but you-" He turned to Alice. "I don't think you'd get along with that. If I know the boy like I should, he'll ask you to see a horror movie you've probably never heard of. Just a heads up."
"Think, movies, movies... The Brainsaw? No, too cheesy. Undead Massacre? No, no, too high-brow. An action movie? God no." Duffer asked himself as he paced the bathroom, thinking up his game plan.
"He'll make compliments but, of course, will have no clue what he's doing. He's too shy to ask which of you two is the digimon, and is not perceptive enough to pick up hints like 'isn't a human' or 'eats like a woodchipper'. So if he asks Dorothy first, then you, don't take it as an insult. He's just kinda stupid."
"Do holosuits fizzle when you touch them? No, that would be an obvious design flaw... think, what is an absolute, sure-fire digimon detector?" He asked himself again, now sitting in the stall with his pants up. "Energy, I guess? Computer expertise? High pain threshholds? God, there has to be something easy to remember..."
"Finally, Duffer will probably give you something important to remember him by. "Important" in air quotes, mind. Probably one of his old comic books or a baseball card or something." Kotemon sighed. "Any questions?"
Duffer flushed the urinal, not because he went but because if he didn't he'd look conspicuous... in his mind, at least. He paused once he saw Jack standing next to the girls. Oh god, one of them already has a boyfriend... he thought to himself.

The sudden intrusion of one ‘Jack White’ had apparently caught Dorothy off guard, a tidbit of information that prompted the extravagantly-dressed gentleman’s smile to widen. “Je suis désolé, I tend to have that effect on people. Especially on charming ladies such as you~” His manners bordered between your run on the mill casanova and an outright foreign creep, so whether he was having any success in wooing the two women was to be determined. At the very least, his chances looked better than the boy that had ran away to the bathroom.
“Calling them Digimon in public kinda defeats the purpose of using Holo-Suits if you ask me.” Jack’s Tamer joined their convo, finally coming out of her hiding spot. Her height was… fairly normal compared to the other two women, on account of being an actual Japanese teenage girl. Still, between her dyed hair, her face riddled with piercings and her punk-looking getup, she ‘popped out’ in her own right. “The name’s Yuko. And yeah, Jack is a you-know-what.” “And here I was trying to be subtle for once…” The disguised Jokermon sighed.
After introductions were through, Kotemon explained how Duffer was an awkward youth with a fondness for horror movies and - you guessed it - tall, attractive women. “If it makes him feel better, I like horror movies too. I’ve wanted to see ‘The Hoop 5’ for a while, but none of my friends are really into horror movies.” Yuko said. “I too enjoy a good horror movie. You can’t spell ‘slaughter’ without ‘laughter’! Ohohohoho!” Her flamboyant partner added with a laugh. He made sure to say both of those words in English, since his joke would’ve been lost in translation otherwise.

It should be noted that Dorothy is much more normal in terms of height compared to Alice, the blonde listening to Kotemon's words with a rather gleeful expression, perhaps finding the human's confusion and embarrassment more entertaining than any game. "I get that Alice's kinda crazy lookin' at times. Every day she gets a few stares even in her kinda awful, dead-end retail job!"
"...I always thought it was more about the hair, not my height." Alice shakes her head, still uncertain, a frown slowly forming on her face. "And he doesn't seem that bright, but he clearly means well.. I'll make sure he's at least comfortable." Rolling her eyes, she looks to the bathroom before deciding to pay attention to the more pressing matters at hand. "I'm sure he'll figure things out eventually, so for now... I'll just wait and see." With her face returning to a more neutral expression, she continues to write in her notebook. "I've probably dealt with similar, anyways."
Perhaps Dorothy's standards are strange, but she doesn't seem to mind the Jack that much, perhaps even enjoying the attention a bit. "Gyahaha, I'm glad I got that effect on some people. Keeps things interesting." The blonde raises her hands and laughs a bit, the gloves on her hands slightly odd, but perhaps just a fashion statement. When she finally hears the voice of another girl, the Tamer of the mysterious individual, Dorothy immediately snarks back at the comment. "Aww, c'mon, I like dressin' up, thanks..." The witch Digimon gets out of her seat and stands up to greet Yuko, perhaps trying to keep the positive mood going. "There's something fun about pretending to be something you're not, ya know?"
When horror movies are brought up, the green haired lady seems slightly cold. "Ahh... Movies are nice and all, but I prefer books." She shrugs, giving Yuko a subtle greeting in the form of a wave before addressing her. "Hopefully I don't need to introduce myself a second time, but it's nice to meet more people at this time of night. I've got to ask, though... Is your partner always this smitten with others? Then again, mine tends to wander off with her holosuit and get into trouble on a regular basis..." She can't stop thinking about how Duffer couldn't tell which of the pair of her and Dorothy was human and which wasn't, the issue clouding her mind slightly.
"Yeah, Alice doesn't lemme watch too much TV, says I'm lazy enough as is... Iunno what she means, given how I'm the reason she can get 'round so easily with my broom, and the whole fact I gotta defend her. Hey, Dork Queen, weren't we here to play games? How 'bout that one, right over there?" Dorothy spots the troubled, somewhat peculiar young man come out of the bathroom, and gives a gentle wave before pointing to a random arcade cabinet.
"There's nothing stopping any of you from doing so. Just leave me out of it."

Duffer sheepishly waves back to Dorothy, blushing ever so slightly. Come on, you've seen dozens of movies. Just ask for a date. Just go up and ask if they wanna see Hoop 5. Duffer took a deep breath and approached the taller of the two, Alice, climbing back into his seat awkwardly. "H-hi." He smiled, trying to act casual. "Oh, th-there's a new girl here too! And her... brother." He offered a hand before realizing he was still in Japan. D'oh... he thought to himself. "And, for the final round of introductions. I'm Kotemon, this is Duffer. He was trying to be subtle about it but we're past that point I suppose..." "H-hi." Duffer said again. "I uh, sorry... you know how it is I just... a-anyway, my job." He explained to the new girl, passing her his mostly blank job application as well. "I'm trying to get hired here so I can, y-you know..." He coughed and shook like an airplane about to fall out of the sky. "So um... Alice?" He said, looking at Dorothy, like an idiot. "I was uh... I know we just met but uh... I... You wanna-" "That's Dorothy." His mon corrected. "Alice is the one sitting next to you." "I knew that." He lied and adjusted his attention. "Alice, maybe, you know, if you aren't busy Saturday maybe we could um... I mean, Hoop 5 came out last week and maybe you and I could... see it? You know, together? I mean we could bring our partners if you're worried it's too scary, but-" "Jack, was it?" Kotemon interrupted before Duffer made any more vaguely sexist implications. "You seem like a lively man. Do you or your girlfriend have any connections that could help Duffer get a job?" The mysterious digimon asked, trying to get this conversation back on the rails.

“To be fair, you ARE pretty gigantic.” The Japanese delinquent half-joked in response to Alice’s comment about her height. “Then again, people would stare at you anyway, ‘cause that’s what people do.” With her own loud fashion sense and all of her piercings, Yuko was quite used to getting weird looks from people, to the point she barely gave them a second thought.
Dorothy, being the playful sort much like Jokah, asked the delinquent girl if her partner always acted like that in front of the fairer sex. “I wouldn’t say he’s smitten. He kinda hits on anything that moves, including my Mom, but it’s all just a game to him. Don’t expect him to actually commit to a relationship is all I’m saying.” “Gosh, when you put it like that, you know me almost too well.” The disguised Jokermon added, tapping his aristocrat’s cane against the floor.
It was then that Duffer came back out, approaching the three women and one dapper-looking gentleman, and sheepishly greeting them. “Nice to meet you. You must be Duffer, right? By the way, Mr. Jack White is not my brother. He’s, uuuh… my French teacher. Yeah.” Yuko said, before Duffer asked Alice if she was interested in seeing ‘The Hoop 5’ with him.
Finally, the little Kotemon asked Jokah and Dorothy if they could help his human find a job. “Hmmmm, a job for an able-bodied young man…” The so-called French teacher hummed in deep thought. “How good are you at holding a tray?” “You’re not allowed to hire him as your butler!” Yuko cut him off.

". . ." The expression on Alice's face is the same hard to read, slightly cold one as she hears all of what Duffer says until she hears the movie name. "...I've only ever watched the first one, and that was... Years ago." Is he even aware of how old she is, Alice thinks to herself, running a hand through her long green hair before returning to scribbling down a note about Kotemon, the drawing already done. "I figure that there really wasn't much else do to with the premise, so I hopped off before I watched any more." She can't help but smirk just a little. the teenage boy reminding her slightly of days when she was a freely roaming troublemaker rather than the reserved, more calm person she is today. "And I've stared death in the face many times. I'd be fine."
Yuko's comment, on the other hand, has Alice a bit more puzzled, the towering lady looking down at the short, garishly decorated girl and almost seeming a bit surprised. "I understand that I'm taller than most people, but it isn't that strange... Is it?"
"I'm fine with people lookin' for my attention. Heck, I kinda want it every time I go out. Makes it fun to mess with people, some people are so weird..." Dorothy mostly converses with Jokah (Or was it Jack?), the more causal of the two strange ladies still in the mood to get some game playing going on, but for now, she mostly remains silent, finding Duffer mistaking her for Alice beyond amusing... It takes all her willpower to not just burst out laughing from it, or Yuko calling the disguised jester a "french teacher", her grin obvious. "I dunno anything about jobs 'n stuff, but apparently I play guitar kinda nice."
