The streets of Shibuya were as busy as ever as Rei now walked along the sidewalk. This was the safer part of Shibuya and one that she would often go through to get to school in the morning and after school. While she was very responsible and careful walking anywhere, she felt a bit more at ease due to the fact this time, her own brother was with her.
That, and of course the little digimon mascaraing as a plush backpack on her back.
While Rei walked with a pleasant smile on her face, her brother, had a more passive and somewhat moody expression on his face. He was much taller than Rei, and wore a more punkish style, even though he was semi-dressed in his school uniform. He had on the school shirt but jacket was worn in a "Bantyo" style as he also wore slacks down to his ankles and a pair of red sneakers. He had a metallic chain accessory hanging from his belt and a leather wristband on his left arm, along with a gothic like necklace around his neck. Lastly to add to his puckish look, he had a bandanna with a skull on it. As with much in Shibuya, the clothing trends could be extreme. Luckily, Rei got to wear whatever she wanted since she was still in elementary school.
But reason why her brother was with him at all, was because she was attending the school festival at her brother's school.
TO make a long story short, Ryuji had been passive and uncaring about almost everything with school, preferring to skip or slack off. However, after one of the scolding matches between him and their mother, and the risk of being held back-- he had to participate this time around or risk repeating a grade. To add insult to injury, as it was, their mother INSISTED that he brings Rei, who wanted to go anyway.
So while not happy to be there, he somewhat didn't argue having his little sister around, but grumbled now and again.
The two siblings were certainly strained since their father's death, but they had been close and depended on one another. Rei had often cooked when he was around and kept an eye on things and while he acted a bit of a tough guy, he always kept an eye on her and chatted with them. Even when they butted heads, they remained close as much family could.
"I don't get what you're so upset about," Rei commented as they walked down the sidewalk, "School Festivals are fun. I really wish my class could do them. And yours is probably more fun."
"Pfft... you wouldn't say that if you had to work during it. My class was doing a lame idea. I rather go skateboarding," he said with a grunt, casting his gaze away. "School festivals are lame. At least they are to me."
Rei sighed as she held on to her 'backpack's straps over her shoulders. " Well, I like them. And you know what Mom said-- I can't go alone and you're suppose to be there. So unless you plan to ditch me, let's just try to have a good time when you are done with all your work, okay? " she said, a bit of a sad tone in her voice at the fear her brother would just up and leave her for some random better reason.
"No, I won't Rei. Just saying I'd rather do something else than have to work on a day off. Not my dealleo." he replied.
They soon approached the school grounds and many people were already starting to gather and check out the stands inside the school grounds. "You remember the rules, right? " he asked, being in one of those moments where he actually acted like a responsible big brother-- which was rare.
"I don't leave the school grounds under any circumstances, and if there are any emergencies I can call you on your cellphone or find you in Class 2B. You should be done at 1 PM and we can meet in the center stands near the school entrance if we get separated after." she explained.
" That's right you little know-it-all," he replied, giving her a 'friendly' noogie against her head and sock cap. However, his eyes gazed elsewhere. "One thing I gotta ask though."
"What is it?" She asked.
It was then that he reached behind her-- and soon grabbed one of the 'straps' of her bunny-shaped backpack. Her eyes went a bit wide but nothing noticeable as the yellow rabbit hung slack from his firm ears that almost looked like hands. It wore a vest, pair of little jeans and sneakers with speakers along the clothing and ears. All the while it was motionless with its cute face and eyes wide as her brother held on to it. "Why did you have to bring this thing? Seriously, you never leave without it."
Rei did her best to keep calm and just reply. It wasn't the first time that 'he' was roughed about and was able to keep up the act regardless of how much abuse he took. "Do I really need to justify my taste in backpacks or stuffed animals? It's my favorite and it doubles as a MP3 player and stuff. What's wrong with it?" she argued.
Ryuji sighed as he glanced at the wide face of the rabbit, aka Musimon that Rei called it. "Well I'd question your taste. Besides, this thing is starting to really freak me out." he said as he swing it back a bit and looked at Rei. "I feel its gonna come to life in the middle of the night and kill me."
While he did that, in the brief moment of when he wasn't looking-- the yellow rabbit glared at him, and stuck out his tongue. It used its little, real arms to make scary, stalking movements as if he was trying to do so. But in that instant when he would look towards it, in a split second he would return to the same pose he was before.
Rei saw it all and tried to stifle a giggle. Her Parnter was such an imp! "Oh, quit pulling my leg. Musimon is harmless..." she said and took hold of him back. "Tell you what. I'll stop carrying it around when YOU TOO can act your own age, kay?" she quipped and swing him back over her back.
The brother gave a grunt, but not wishing to fight on the School Festival day, he just let it go and began walking to the school, gesturing him to follow her.
Rei waited a moment till he was far enough away and then Rei sighed. "You really need to stop aggravating him, Musimon," she said without turning around. "If you keep pushing your luck, he will catch you sooner or later. "
Breaking his facade of being a lifeless stuffed animal-backpack, Musimon turned his head up to glance at her. "Please, that blonde monkey couldn't find water if he fell out of a boat." he quipped.
Rei gave a soft chuckle, trying to not laugh too hard as she quickly ran after Ryuji before he got too far away and would turn to find her.
WIth that they soon reached the school gates, and the yard beyond filled with stands, balloons and all kinds of festivities waiting to be discovered.

Yuko Himura hated school festivals, as one would imagine. They were bright, colorful, loud and filled with obnoxious people. Unfortunately for her, the school principal had given her a sadistic form of punishment for all the trouble her rebellious streak had caused to the school, in the form of making her participation to this festival mandatory, lest she would be threatened with expulsion!
“Fucking imperialist…” The delinquent girl cursed under her breath, as she sat in front of her stand with her head slumped over like a lazy cat, sending a bunch of consecutive text messages to her friend Mika that ranged from “I hate this” and “Send help” to “End my suffering with the sweet release of death”. She was dressed in the typical sailor fuku uniform, but her dyed hair, multitude of piercings, ample makeup and painted nails made it clear from a mile away that she wasn’t exactly what one could call a model student.
Unlike all the other girls and boys - who were very enthusiastic to sell their wares, and put flashy decorations all over their stands to make them stand out - Yuko’s stand was quite unceremonious. Her so-called wares consisted of an old Christmas ball with a sculpted snowman inside, a used coloring book from her preschool days and an old pair of dancing shoes that were too small for her feet to fit inside anymore. All of them were accompanied by price tags written in surprisingly elegant handwriting.
While the multicolor-haired teenager was bored out of her skull, she suddenly noticed something that actually got her to cease her incessant texting and sit up properly on her chair. A familiar face! Cupping one hand next to her mouth and waving with the other, Yuko called out to them. “Oiiiii! Rei-chan! Over here!” She wondered who the older kid with her was. He looked cool enough with that anti-establishment getup of his.

Rei and Ryuji had entered the school grounds where they had to go and the festival, though not started yet was in full activity. Stands were already up selling different wares, some better, some not as great. Even so, Rei saw all the activity and she smiled at the colors and stands. She couldn't wait till she could actually go to the stands, but for now she had to just make sure her brother got to where he had to go-- and stay out of the older kid's way.
As she and her brother walked down the row that led to the main school building, the call of Rei's name made her stop. Even Musimon's ears that were her 'backpack' straps flinched at the sound of it. She turned and looked to find a certain older teen with spiky, dyed hair that stood out despite her school uniform. It took Rei a minute to recognize her and then it hit her-- the girl she met in the Digital World with the creepy clown Digimon.
"Y-Yuko-san?" Rei said, surprised to find the girl there. Apparantly, she belonged to the same school as her older brother. Even Ryuji seemed a bit surprised they knew one another. The two made their way to the booth and Rei quickly approached her. "What are you doing here? Do you go to this school too? " Rei asked, puzzled.
Likely, Yuko would notice the odd yellow creature strapped to her back, trying to pass as a child's backpack-plush object. EIther way, the Digimon knew her too.
Ryuji didn't know her, but seen her in class and in the more obvious notion, he tried to cozy up to her with a smile. "Hey there. Like the hair style you got there, " he said, his tone a bit overly friendly as he tried to flirt with her a bit, and kind of wanted the conversation to go his way too. "So what you get saddled with today?" he asked, sharing her feelings about the school festival.
Rei rolled her eyes, typical of her brother. For the moment she kept quiet and let her brother have his word in, but still, she had wanted to know more about Yuko. She had to wonder, was her Digimon Partner here too?

“Yup! As much as I hate it, I am enrolled in this school.” Yuko nodded affirmatively. From closer up, one could see that she had more sharp metallic objects going through her face than Pinhead’s weird, female cousin. Despite that intimidating trait of hers, she regarded the younger girl with a friendly, genuine smile. One had to rightfully wonder if Rei had been hanging out with the wrong crowd if she had become acquainted with an older student, and a delinquent at that!
The multicolor-haired teen didn’t fail to notice Musimon strapped behind Rei’s back like some kind of fancy backpack. That was certainly one way to hide one’s partner Digimon, she guessed. She cracked a smile at that, for seeing Musimon in a situation where he was forced to keep dead silent was too precious, considering how loud and energetic he was when they first had met in the Digital World.
Yuko was way more interested in the older boy accompanying Rei. He also seemed interested in her, quickly complimenting her hair. “Wow, a regular fountain of pick up lines you are! Nice bandana, though… I’m sorry, who are you again?” She asked him curiously. Her best guess was that he was Rei’s babysitter, or perhaps a relative of hers.

"I'm whoever you want me to be. Name's Ryuji and ..." he began.
"-- He's a major pain in the neck. " Rei added with perfect timing as she now played the role of the annoying little sister to get Ryuji off Yuko's back. However, she wasn't sure what was worse... that Ryuji started to flirt with her 'friend' or the fact she might possibly be into it. "He's my big brother..." Rei introduced.
"Rei! Don't go harshin my grill, yo!" Ryuji said with a nervous shout, clearly unnerved by her interruption. He soon dropped the tough guy act as he rubbed the back of his neck, trying to recover some hint of humility.
Rei wasn't a fool and probably would have not had socialized so openly to Yuko if she hadn't known she was a Tamer too. She for one would never get piercings like THAT and she was proud of her blonde hair. She didn't want to change, despite her choice of wardrobe.
Every once in a while, Musimon would glance over Rei's shoulder by just a glance, catching sight of the events that unfolded with Ryuji's back turned.
Still, Ryuji was hoping to learn more about her. "So what class you in? And how exactly do you know Rei? You two don't look like you'd get along at a glance." Ryuji commented, but curious how she knew his sister.
Rei glanced narrowly at her brother. On one hand, she was embarrassed how girl-crazy he could be, but more important than that-- she was scared how Yuko would react and potentially tell him how they knew each other. Would she accidentally spill the beans about Musimon and the Digital World? She gave soft and unnoticeable shakes of her head, hoping Yuko would not tell her brother about it.

So, it turned out that this real piece of work was called Ryuji, and he was none other than Rei’s older brother! That was interesting. Yuko wondered how he might have felt about the fact that his baby sister had traveled to an alien world filled with monsters and life-threatening situations in every corner. It was possible that Rei was keeping it a secret from her family, but if he somehow found out, he probably would be none too happy.
“Hey dude, chill. Nobody’s out to ‘harsh your grill’.” Jeez, where had they found this guy? His slang was so esoteric, even Yuko was having a hard time keeping up with it! His whole tough guy image might have been an act, as he soon untensed and rubbed the back of his neck nervously. Maybe he wasn’t such a bad guy after all. Rei was also a sweet girl, so maybe their family were biologically predisposed to being nice people.
Ryuji soon asked the female delinquent how she and Rei had met, confirming her suspicion that he didn’t know about the Digimon. Great, now she had to come up with a bullshit excuse on the fly and make it sound believable! “I’m in class 2-B. Me and Rei-chan… take the same bus to school. That’s how we met.” Okay, that was workable. She now could only hope that Rei would play along.

A sigh of relief silently left Rei's breast as she heard Yuko's reply to how they met. It was reasonable, though she would have gone with something like going to the arcade or something. Either way, deep down Rei knew that Yuko was a good person, despite her outward appearance... or so she hoped. Her evil clown partner left much to be desired.
"That's cool. Maybe next time we can travel the bus together," he said, obviously trying to make a move on her. Rei rolled her eyes and wanted to leave. She didn't know what was worse-- her brother flirting, or how lame his flirts were to her.
Before Yuko would answer-- a voice blared out. It was audible with the sound from the 'loudspeaker'.
"Attention Students, all members of Class 2-B haunted House please report to your assigned area-- this means you Mr. Oto," the voice spoke.
Ryuji froze at the mention of him-- specifically, which was a surprise to Rei. Ryuji grumbled, embarrassed to be called out like that from the crowd over the loudspeaker like that. "Cra... Crabs," he corrected, aware his impressionable little sister was there. He bit his lip and let out a sigh. "I gotta run. Hey... could I ask a favor? I gotta do this for my class, as I am sure you are aware. Could you maybe keep an eye on Rei and be here if she needs any help? I'll be around but it would be nice if she had someone she could come to while I work for my grades?" he asked.
It was then he slipped in one last thing-- "If you do, maybe sometime I can treat you out for some Crapes or something. What do do you say?" he said, trying to use it as a jump board for a date.
"Oh, brother..." Rei sighed, shaking her head in embarrassment. "Just go before your crush crushes you, Ryuji."
With a playful look of spite to his sister, the older brother took off running to the school building to get to his festival area.
As he was gone, Rei soon heard a snickering sound close by. Her expression frowned as she glanced over her shoulder. With Ryuji gone, Musimon had moved and was now giggling, his hands covering his mouth to contain his sounds. It took Rei a moment but she soon had an idea of what that announcement was.
"You didn't..." she asked retorically.
Musimon giggled more as he turned around, looking over Rei's shoulder as no one was closely watching them. "I diiiiid," Musimon chuckled, hugging Rei with his big, movable ears. "I threw my voice to make him think it was the intercom... Behehehe!" the rabbit laughed.
Clearly Yuko could take a hint that Musimon had a fun little game of messing with Rei's older brother by how he acted. Still, she would be able to tell how much responsibility that Rei seemed to have, between her Digimon Partner and her 'supposedly' older brother. She clearly was the voice of reason and reins of responsibility to help her brother out when he needed them.
Rei looked to Yuko, now able to talk to her without any reservation with her brother gone. "I swear, between Ryuji and Musimon here, it's like having two brothers. You know what I mean?" Rei said as she took hold of Musimon to cradle him in her arms. "Thanks for not mentioning the Digimon to my brother. He doesn't know and I can't just tell my family... who knows how they will react."
"Which makes it all the more fun to mess with him," Musimon said, smiling cutely to 'fake' being a stuffed animal. Rei replied to that with a gentle 'bonk' to Musimon's head for his sassy attitude.

“What the hell?! Since when does the school have an intercom?!” Yuko exclaimed in surprise, turning her head to… wherever that sound was coming from. Little did she know at the time that this was all just a rouse. Fake or not, the announcement caused Ryujin to leave in a hurry, but not before asking the female delinquent out, presumably on a date of sorts. “Uhh… This is a bit sudden and I need time to think about it, so I’ll think about it! Byeeee!” The girl frantically replied with a slight blush, not telling him no, but not telling him yes either.
It was then revealed that this so-called announcement was just a prank played by Musimon. “Huh. It even fooled me. I guess you really are the master of sounds.” The teenage Tamer said, cracking a smile at the musical rabbit’s playful prankster nature. He was a lot like Jokermon in the regard. Speaking of…
“That relationship was doomed to fail anyway. We both know that Mika-kun is the one you’ll end up marrying one day.” “J-Jokah?! How long have you been standing there?!” Sitting on a chair next to Yuko was the big bad clown himself, but not in his usual form; He was disguised as a human, a handsome, blonde-haired man clad in a bright purple suit. “I just came here. Hana is at work and I had nothing better to do. Also, you may refer to me as Jack White while I’m wearing this skin.” The Holo-Suited Digimon casually replied.
“Whatever! Guess it’s just the four of us now. Oh, and… don’t mention it.” The hooligan said, turning back to Rei, who had thanked her for not spilling the beans to her big brother. Her pink eyes then widened, as if remembering something. “Hold on a sec… I am NOT gonna marry Mika! We’re not even an item! We’re just friends!” She yelled at her flamboyant partner, her pierced face flushing a wonderful shade of tomato red.

"I'm really sorry about my brother. He acts like a punk and tries to be cooler than he should, but he really is a nice guy deep down. He just tries hard to impress people, you know?" Rei said, "Not that I'd encourage you to go out with him. But still, he really is a nice guy at heart."
"And when he isn't its when I start to 'Gremlin' him," Musimon said in a cheerful tune.
Rei sighed as she looked down at her Digimon. "It's called Trolling, Musimon and that is a bad thing to do."
"But you called me a Gremlin when we first met," he pointed out.
"Blame my brother for that. He loved that movie, but Gizmo in it was cute." Rei added, but drew her attention to the new mysterious figure.
The pale man in the purple suit, whom looked like a shady guy who belonged in the backstreets of Shibuya who scammed kids for money. He clearly would raise red flags in the school festival. It took Rei and Musimon a moment to grasp who he was. "Wait-- Jokermon? Really?" Rei said, surprised and clearly had no idea Digimon could have human forms like that.
After his boasts and Yuko's blushing, Musimon twitched his ears as he looked at "Jack White". "Woooow, I'm impressed," Musimon said with a hint of sarcasm, but easily masked as being surprised, "You're just as creepy, even by human standards."
Rei face-palmed herself with her free hand at once again Musimon was aggro-ing the clown in disguise. But then again, his disguise was a lot better than masquerading Musimon around as a stuffed animal or backpack. "Come on you guys... We came here to have fun and a good time. The Festival will start soon and a lot happens so why don't we try to get along, okay? Please?" she asked.

Rei’s description of her older brother was quite endearing, lining up with Yuko’s earlier assumption that he was secretly a nice guy trying to act like some kind of big shot. “Oh, trust me. I know a guy who’s just like that. There are no hard feelings.” She reassured the blonde girl, although she still wasn’t sure about dating him. Frankly, she was still flabbergasted that this had even been suggested.
She nevertheless chuckled as the younger Tamer bantered with her partner over whether he looked like a Gremlin or not. “Heh. I’m surprised you even know of that movie. Didn’t it come out before you were born? It’s still a pretty good movie, though. I could definitely see Musi-chan as Gizmo.” Shit, did she just use a feminine honorific? Mika’s mannerisms must have rubbed off on her.
Speaking of Musi-chan, he was still antagonizing Yuko’s own partner. It was funny how it was always rabbit-looking Digimon that hated him the most. “If by ‘creepy’ you mean positively fabulous, then I’ll have to agree! Which is more than I can say for your so-called disguise. What kind of backpack talks?” The disguised Jokermon pointed out, smiling smugly.
Rei tried to defuse the situation by suggesting that they tried to have fun in the festival instead of fighting with one another. “I agree, although being forced to run this stand kinda limits my ability to have fun.” Yuko pointed out, gesturing to her pitiful, half-baked excuse of a stand.

Rei smiled at the mention of the movies. "My Dad. He liked watching movies with us when we were younger. He had a lot of tapes and discs around..." she said, a tone of nostalgia she had but didn't embellish more into.
Musimon grumbled as he looked at Jokermon behind his facade of a human body. The insult to his 'disguise' he only just turned his face up. "Only the world's best Backpack-slash-stuffed animal EVER. Besides, there are plenty of kids with backpacks that look like animals. " he retorted before Yuko also worked to diffuse the situation.
It was then that Rei turned to Yuko. "Well I didn't know you'd be working here either. It is a small world, I guess. But still, I know the other students are allowed to go out on breaks and stuff. But why did your classwork on ... a flee market? My brother is working on a haunted house." she explained, "I hear classes can do many things. Run a cafe, make crafts to sell, fortune-telling, dances, talent shows, costumes, games-- it all sounds so fun! I can't wait till I'm old enough to do this kind of stuff at my school," she said excitedly.
Clearly Rei had none of the issues with School Festivals that Ryuji and Yuko had. She was likely to be proactive when she came of age to do school festivals. It was the polar opposite of how Yuko felt right now, but considering her stand out of the other displays around, it was a bit lack-luster.
"But the most important part... FOOD!" Musimon cheered-- causing Rei to regrip him a bit to try and keep him contained. A few people glanced at the sound of his shout, but didn't notice him. Once they passed, Musimon continued to gab about. "Reeeeiii-chaaaaan, I wanna get some funnel cake and takoyaki! Pleeease..." he said, using his 'signature' cute, adorable eyes to try and weaken her more responcible nature.

Rei explained that it was thanks to her father keeping a bunch of old tapes and discs around that she even knew about those older movies. “I see. Your dad sounds nice…” Yuko nodded, falling quiet after realizing that Rei had talked about her father in the past tense. She had a gut feeling as to why that was, but she didn’t want to pry into the girl’s private life, so she remained silent.
Once their Digimon partners had stopped bickering - a task that took no small amount of effort to accomplish - Rei asked Yuko how she had ended up there. “Hell if I know! The headmaster told me that I had to work at the flea market, so I had no choice on the matter. It’s a shame too, because whatever that haunted house deal is, it definitely sounds more interesting than this!” The teenage Tamer replied.
“Why not sneak out then?” Jokah simply suggested with a nonchalant shrug. “You can dance, play games and have all the food you want, and still tell your headmaster that you paid your dues. Isn’t lying wonderful?” The flamboyant gentleman cheerfully said, smiling widely at Musimon’s excitement over food. He sure was loud for a backpack!

"Mhmm. He is..." she said kindly, good memories of her father in her mind. It was what she did to remember him and it was important to--since her mother and brother just tried to block it out by doing other things. She would have to wonder if Ryuji would of been a bit different now if their Dad was still around.
Rei listened as Yuko complained how she had to do this 'flea market' concept. While even Rei had to admit, it didn't sound all that fun, she might of drawn the short stick in terms of festival duties. It would of been like being a ticket taker in the middle of a carnival. It seemed that Yuko would of rather traded places with Ryuji, since the haunted house was more her jam. They both had grievances to the festival, but perhaps for different reasons.
When Jokermon began to suggest she leave and go off to do her own thing, Rei cringed at the idea. Even she knew that, but also Musimon listened too. It was hard not to with his big ears. "Hey! What kind of Influence are you trying to be to poor Rei-chan here!" he replied.
Rei kept a firm hold on Musimon, so that no one would notice his frailing ears to give away he wasn't just some backpack. "Ehehe... Well, I'm gonna go around and try to find something for Musimon to eat before he mouths off to Jokermon more. " she said, as she hung on to her Digimon. "I'll bring you something back while you work here. Besides, it is nice to know someone I know is here that I can come to if there is a problem. "
Rei then went into the row of stands with interest as the festival would begin soon. WHile some areas were still under construction and open later that day, other areas were now open and Rei was able to explore a bit more. The food had not been produced yet, but they got to see the different costumes, decorations and list of events going on.
Musimon could barely contain himself as he saw all the excitement, fidgeting in Rei's arms which only made her hold on to him more tightly.
However...
among the school a strong electrical energy began to emerge. Something odd was happening as a strange presence made its way into their world, disguised among the excitement of the festival. As it past through the rift, a soft but clear cackle came as it spied the students and the festival going on-- including the people getting ready to go into costume.

Musimon didn’t seem to like Jokermon’s suggestion to lie to the headmaster, protesting rather loudly about it and calling him a bad influence to his human partner. “Quiet, you! Backpacks cannot have opinions!” The Demon King in disguise responded by holding out his aristocrat’s cane, its reach being just long enough to poke the orange rabbit with its tip. “I know he’s being kinda rude to you, but does it really warrant poking him with the equivalent of a stick?” Yuko pointed out, pushing her partner’s arm away, so that he thankfully stopped abusing the poor bunny.
Rei soon went off to look for food, leaving Yuko and her partner alone for the time being. “Seriously, dude, what’s your problem with bunnies specifically? This is the exact same shit that happens with Mika’s Lopmon.” She scolded the disguised clown, keeping her voice low so that nobody could overhear them. “It’s not MY fault they’re jealous of my beauty and splendor!” Jokah haughtily replied, before looking up with a confused look on his face, as if he had suddenly sensed something otherworldly. “What now?” The delinquent girl asked. “Nah, it’s probably nothing…” He shrugged it off, lounging back on his chair and resting his legs on top of the table.

The parting with Yuko and her disguised Digimon Partner was a welcomed reprieve for Musimon as the rabbit remained snug in Rei's arms. Though he grumbled at the clown for getting the last word in, being with Rei made all the world's problems just fade away for him. The perks of being partnered with a Human. The rabbit never went a day without not feeling loved and supported. Same went for Rei.
The festival opened on time, though the bigger events wouldn't open till after 2PM. The teachers watched from the safety of the school building while parts of it were in use for activities. Rei happily went to the first display, a crepe stands with different flavors. Musimon tried hard to not drool as he smelled the fresh Crapes. "I'll have 2 crepes, both strawberry, please. " Rei asked, having plenty of money for a few things.
As she took one, when no one was looking, Musimon took the other in his smaller hands and nibbled at it. He tried hard to not inhale the thing as it was so good and to not be seen by others. However, he couldn't stop the pleasant hums of enjoyment as he ate it. "Human world food tastes soooo gooooood, yooo." the rabbit said happily.
"Musimon... try to contain your enthusiasm. We can't let anyone see you." Rei reinforced.
The plan was that Rei would explore a bit of the festival on the outside, and slowly make her way around the building. When she was done, she would buy more food for Musimon, herself and return to give some to Yuko and her clown partner. She couldn't also forget to check on Ryuji. Hopefully he was doing his part so he could continue school without issue. In the reality of it, it was why that Rei was there. Their mother had her go to make sure he did what he had to, since she was too busy with work.
As they walked, Rei couldn't help but see parents there with their kids. Some there to watch the festival with the students who were there, others from kids like her going to view the festival. She paused for a bit, seeing mothers and fathers together with their kids as they saw more and more of the festival.
"Rei chan? You okay?" Musimon's voice reached her. He finished the last bite of his crape, swallowing it down happily.
She shook off the feeling, distracted and a stray tear down her face for a brief moment. "I-I'm sorry. What's wrong?" she asked.
Musimon noticed the look, but tried to push them forward. "Look over there," the Rabbit said, gesturing one of his hand-ears forward to one stand, showing a kind of 'tossing game'. "Why don't you play that one? Come on. Win a prize."
That part of the festival was lined with all kinds of games. Catching goldfish, shooting galleries and other kinds of carnival games. While some Rei wasn't the best at due to her age and size, she could easily try the tossing game and water shooting gallery.
As the festival went on, more and more people began to come out in costumes. Some were dressed as different animals, ghosts, and other creatures. It was beginning to become a real festival and soon it would be crowded. Yuko might have her hands full as people would check out her stand.
