"I'll have you know humans can swing these things at hundreds of miles per hour, breaking whatever they feel like. Even in armor a digimon wo-" Kotemon cut the boy off, pointing at the bird scaring away the cat. "A Biyomon, and she has the marking." Kotemon said, pointing out the obvious. "So, this must be the mysterious Birdie..." He turned off the hard light baton and put it away, approaching. "You OK Unica?" He knelled down to the little girl's side. "Sorry about getting distracted and... I- never mind, I'll shut up." He backed away to let Katsura talk to her, she was clearly the one better with these whole personal issues.
"As for you, we're really glad you came back to help your tamer." Kotemon smiled... not that anyone could see it through his helmet, but their voice definitely reflected this out of character chipperness. "I am pleased to meet you." The mon offered a... sleeve, I guess as it approached. Its claws were still hidden in there. "I am Kotemon, and this is Duffer. These two are Katsura and Nyao. We have a few questions if you don't mind us asking, alright?" The mon was trying his best to be nice, not fooling the boy.

From the far end of the alley, where the BlackGatomon had fled, emerged two older children and their Digimon partners. Being unfamiliar with these individuals, Birdie instantly took a defensive stance. Had the BlackGatomon recruited backup? Had these people heard the ruckus and planned to take advantage of the situation too? With their attention fully on Unica, who remained vulnerable on the ground, what else was Birdie was supposed to think? Duffer's decision to withdraw the light baton wasn't enough to change the apprehensive Biyomon's understanding of the situation.
And so, as he neared, Birdie stepped between him and Unica, ruffled her feathers, and proceeded to attack without waiting for introductions or an explanation. Whatever Kotemon and Duffer had planned to say or do was quickly and violently sidelined as Birdie batted the boy with clawed wings. "Chirping Attack!" she hollered as her wings flapped more fervently and her crimson nails seemed to grow ever sharper. Seeing this, Unica scrambled into a kneeling position and began to scream for her partner to stop. Unfortunately, for everyone involved, Birdie wasn't listening. She was too focused on defending her partner from the perceived threats.

The good news was that Unica was finally reunited with Birdy. The bad news was that Duffer couldn't convince Birdy to lower her guard long enough to hear him out. What actually silenced Kotemon wasn't Birdy but instead Katsura stretching her arm out in front of him and firmly pulled him back creating a distance between him and Birdy. Katsura was well-aware of all tell-tale signs that a digimon is aggressive in a protective manner, after all Nyao is a relatively notorious digimon for the very same thing. As rudely as this probably seemed for Kotemon, Katsura didn't have time to fill him in and couldn't afford him escalating the situation.
Katsura kept eye contact with Birdy but rather than interacting or for that matter allowing Nyao to attack, Katsura slowly walked backwards. This way she could calmly withdraw without giving Birdy any blind spots. Katsura noted that Unica-tan was pleading and crying, she hoped Birdy would calm down once Unica-tan got Birdy's attention. It was a tricky plan but Birdy made it very clear that Katsura wasn't allowed to be close to Unica-tan let alone comforting her.

Duffer's presumptions of the situation proved correct, as soon Kotemon found himself seconds from a sucker punch (or rather, the avian equivalent) before being saved once again by the two, ironically more worldly, gothess...(es?). Duffer shouted, trying to calm her down "Woah, woah! We're Unica's friends, we're not gonna hurt her!" He tried to plead, really not wanting to traumatize this little girl more than she needed to be. "Let's all just calm down, alright?"Kotemon, however, was far less forgiving. As she landed on his back, its eyes glowed redder and brighter before kicking itself back to its feet. They drew their sword, preparing to strike back should the crazed corvid decide to try him again. "How about y-" Duffer quickly yanked Kotemon by the mask, to the smaller mon's frustration. "Kat, we should probably leave and let them sort this out between themselves." He suggested, despite having been hankering for a duel a few moments before it was clear the situation had changed entirely, and it would be wiser to leave with their tail between their legs. He made sure to emphasize this choice by covering up Kotemon's mask so he wouldn't start shouting or insulting the bird as they left.

The red-eyed girl was attentive. She was able to pick up on the signs of an aggressive Digimon well before Birdie had even launched an attack. She'd successfully pulled the Kotemon out of the way, but the masked 'mon had not been the target of the assault in the first place; the boy was. Fortunately for him, the black-haired tamer gave him ample time to react by warning him well in advance. Birdie's claws slashed through the air, coming mere inches away from the boy's face. She took a few steps forward and continued batting her wings as she neared, either deaf to Duffer's attempts at explanation or outright ignoring them altogether.
Kotemon, likely motivated by the same drive to protect his tamer as Birdie, dashed toward the avian with sword drawn, all the while shouting something; however, his advances were stopped when Duffer grabbed his mask and pulled him away. Birdie's flaps slowed, but she still had a look of hostility on her face as she kept a close eye on the four individuals in front of her. This ceased outward aggression calmed Unica some and caused her wailed of sorrow to turn into gentle snivels instead, though the fear of a fight breaking out upset her still. When the boy suggested that they leave Unica and Birdie alone, the Biyomon sneered and nodded a single time. "Yeah, scram!" she spat, keeping her wings spread out to either side, the glaring eye-shaped patterns evident.

Duffer was right, this was the time to say goodbye. At least that was what the Birdy wanted. Wordlessly Katsura turned to Duffer and nodded while miming the word "yeah". The way Birdy aggressively protected Unica-tan was more than enough proof for Katsura that Unica-tan was now in good hands. Knowing this Katsura made a, sincere for once, satisfied smile at Unica-tan as she turned around. Now it was time to leave and so Katsura took out her digidevice and pointed it behind Duffer. There a portal opened up revealing Shibuya Scramble Crossing.
"You welcome Pied-um-Jokermon. Duffer, are you coming?"
It was Katsura's intention to let the portal stay open, she couldn't predict how many would like to leave the digital world right now but if Birdy thought it was "accidentally" left unlocked it was up to them to decide where they'd be. Nyao jumped into Katsura's arms and they both walked out of the portal.

Duffer nodded and followed Katsura through the portal. He'd seen a few from a distance, so while they were still mystical and interesting to him he didn't really feel the need to observe them at the moment, pulling Kotemon with. His partner's muffled threats (despite the fact there was a mask between his head and the boy's hand?) only ensured him that they needed to clear out. He gave one last glance at the crying little girl he was leaving behind... he gave a somber wave goodbye, but if her partner was with her she was sure to be safe... right?
He tossed Kotemon through the portal first and walked in after, a pang of guilt in his heart as he turned to focus on Kat. "I dunno. There's some stuff about that bird." He said, sure he was out of earshot of the bird. "That black gatomon was talking about something before we got there, I couldn't hear it from the distance though." He admits. "And she doesn't seem to act like a friend to her, you saw how Unica was pleading with her, right?" He shook his head. "Maybe I'm just being paranoid... anyways, we should probably get going. Sorry about all that, Kat."

Even after the children and their pets disappeared through the portal, Birdie remained stationary--eyes locked on the vortex, body tense, and wings still spread. Only when Unica reached out and gently touched her tail feathers did the Biyomon finally move. She whirled around, glare apparent on her face, and snapped her beak mere inches from the young girl's face. "Don't touch me!" she snarled. Unica recoiled and tears welled up in her eyes. "And quit sniveling!" the avian commanded. Maybe she was just frustrated with how everything had gone down, but it certainly seemed like there was something more to it. Duffer's instincts were right, but there was no way for him to know how bad things would get for Birdie and Unica now that he was gone and the portal was closed.
"Get up," the Biyomon snapped. Her orders only served to upset her tamer more, however, and the young girl began to sob quietly. Birdie rolled her eyes, grabbed one of Unica's hands, and yanked the poor girl to her feet. "You need to get your shit together," the Digimon swore, clearly at wits' end.
"Bitch!" Unica retorted, remembering what Yuko had taught her about the word a mere hour or two prior. This, of course, didn't sit all too well with Birdie.
"What'd you just say?" the avian grumbled as she narrowed her eyes into angry slits and her feathers began to ruffle.
"You're a b-" Unica couldn't even utter the full word before Birdie shoved her back onto the ground again.
"You're gonna insult me?! You know nothing about me!" Birdie squawked, snapping her beak and flapping her clawed wings in Unica's face in an attempt to intimidate the young girl. Whatever lesson the Biyomon wanted her tamer to learn was overpowered by the pure fear Unica felt as she curled into the fetal position and wailed apologies. After some time, Birdie huffed, kicked dirt toward Unica, and walked off. "Hurry up or I'll leave you here," she said. Unica, still choking on tears and mucus, scrambled to her feet, grabbed the digivice, and slowly began to follow her partner down the alleyway.
