"So, we can definitely agree that in a life or death situation, it's perfectly fine to throw honor aside for a bit." Scarab put that bit out there, before Hisato gave a firm nod. "Yeah. I guess we can." The teenager uttered, before he turned his attention back towards Ryouta.
"Just a student." A short response but that was the truth of the matter. He wasn't anything grand, just a student who had some somewhat well-off parents that were also incredibly hands-off. Much like Ryouta himself, it wasn't anything amazing but it was something to come back to when one inevitably grew bored of the conundrums of this world. And it's furries.
Yet, as he said, some didn't have very fulfilling lives outside of here, so they use it as an escape...
...
"...Fuck, you make this sound like a bad isekai that people are gobbling up!" This realization elicited an actual, genuine chuckle out of the teenager. Once he had gotten past that though, he nodded. "...I get it, though. I think I do, at least."

"I think that's only natural," Valt answered with a nod. "I know a friend who said that 'Honor is actually giving your all to fight against your enemy. When they're absolutely unable to fight and surrendered, that's when it's forbidden for you to harm them When they're already dead, it's absolutely forbidden for you to tarnish their reputation further. So using traps and all possible tactics against them aren't actually 'dishonorable'."
"Was that Koutarou?" Ryouta asked.
"Agito actually. Koutarou's form of honor probably even more skewed."
Ryouta snorted at that. "But yeah, it's as you said, Hisato. It's sort of a bad isekai, yeah? Except honestly... I think there's no 'good' or 'bad' isekai. It's up how you see it, and frankly, in novel you only see it from the hero's side... But over here, no one is a "hero". Despite my strength, am I a "hero" or "main character" by stretch? Nope, I'm not. I'm just a unique individual named "Ryouta". I'm not a hero, not a boss or anything... but what I experienced *is* my story. If we faced this world with sense of realism, we'll be fine. We can be anything that we want, but we have to remember. This is not a fantasy. You're free to chase your dream... but don't forget... there will always be someone who's more special than you are... but at the same time, don't forget that you yourself is uniquely special in your own way."
Does that sounds a bit too much lecturing?
"Well, that's what I thought anyway! Heh!"

"Skewed?" Scarab echoed that final word a bit and tilted his head. "Sounds like your friend's got the right idea of things. I shouldn't be faulted for opting to use every tool I have at my disposal in a fight, right? If the enemy decides to whine, then so be it."
It was good to see that they were in agreement about this being presented as sort of a shitty isekai. Like the ones you see people on messenger apps ranting about. The teenager heard Ryouta out in his entirety. "...That's how it should be, honestly. We're just individuals. Not protagonists or anything. It's a good thought. Down-to-earth." Hisato snickered.
"How did we get to bad isekais and philosophy again?" That was a pretty good question. "We were talking about shitty cats. Don't ask me how." Scarab replied. "Cool lecture, though."

"Skewed in a sense he's much more... tricky. He will resort to trickery if it's needed, blackmail at worst, that's how he rolls. Compared to his partner, basically he's more nasty. His partner, Agito, meanwhile was a former samurai. I think nowadays he's just a simple musician though," Valt answered.
Ryouta just chuckled. "...See, it's a dangerous combination... a main hero in a story have this tendency to not really care about anything but their own goals, but that's exactly why they're very volatile. They're not the kind that you can count on unless you know exactly how to bend them to your convenience. But that's very... Hard to do I guess? And I'm not exactly fond of buttlicking."
That question is interesting, but either way... "I think it all ends up in 'things that you shouldn't do in Digital World if you want to survive'. For some reason, I feel like this life is absolutely a diceroll though. Sometimes danger sweeps at you when some guy decided they wanna fuck up with your life..."

"...What's the issue?" Scarab was, quite simply, unable to comprehend what issue could be taken up with this friend's method of doing things. "If it gets the job done, then it gets the job done. Let'im stew about what he did later." The Wormmon nodded sagely.
"You know what? I hate brownnosing too." Hisato felt that was a pretty damn good thing to find agreement on with Ryouta. "And honestly, caring about your own goals, whatever they may be, is perfectly fine. The issue is that, again, we're individuals. Not everyone's goals will align with each other's."
Which obviously meant that conflict was all but inevitable. And given what Hisato knew/saw of Digimon already? That meant that some serious sparks would end up flying. That bit about a dice roll though...
"...Like...danger coming out of nowhere?" He inquired. That was...actually more than a little foreboding to hear, all things considered.
