Semifinals! Let's go a little more traditional, and directly put you out there!
The Scout wasn't kidding, in this case! After all of the volcanic wastelands, exploding skyscrapers, and underground caverns, it would perhaps be a breath of fresh air for the combatants to actually see themselves standing inside Infinity Colosseum - even if it was just a digital representation of the space! All around them, the crowds were packed, roaring and ready to see the fight about to unfold in front of them. A powerful barrier prevented shots from landing in the crowd, a circular 'dome' surrounding the area, even creating a maximum height which couldn't be passed for flight.
The battlefield itself? Well, it was a wide, concrete circle, about a hundred meters in diameter - and surrounding that, there was an additional twenty meters with a grass ring, before they'd reach the sheer wall of the barrier. The arena was only elevated about a half foot off the ground, but there was no rule against going out of bounds or even using the barrier as footing.
Nope: so long as they started with their foot on a chalk line, putting the two fighters about thirty-five meters apart from the start, there was no rules to the fight once the whistle was blown... other than a clock counting down on the north side of the arena! Owen vs ryouta
Ryouta starts!

Fifteen rounds. that's all. No hook? Eh well. Apparently he was lost in previous round but Mae decided to forfeit, so he go for another round? Not too shabby honestly, but still it annoyed him some. Anyway, Owen huh. Valt appeared here in his Imperialdramon Fighter Mode form rather than the Ulforce Vdramon form. He stood on his side of the arena. The cheering of the crowds... does not feel nice somehow. Why he wonder?
"Er, before we start, I need to propose something, and tell you something. First, I'm not dating your kids, so it's alright. I mean, I'm practically their uncle. It'll be hella awkward to date them you know? Hikaru's my bud and comrade, pretty much brother in arms. I was among his groomsmen... So you can rest easy.
...And what I want to propose is... That we go seriously at it. We both are trainers, aren't we? We got number of disciples, and we both can hold back when it's necessary... So how about if we fight seriously? After all... We're both capable to judge when an opponent no longer can fight... And I'm sort of curious what sort of fighter you are. Even though you're my bud's husband, I don't think I've seen you fight before."
With that being said, Valt roared, perhaps to pump himself up.
"Well then, Leader Owen of 7/71st, please show me your might!"
Valt wagged his index finger in taunting manner.

Owen blinked a little as the events of the last round faded from sight and mind and were replaced with the reality of this round. The Gaomon looked around for a moment - taking in what obstacles were present - and found none. Just a concrete circle 100 meters in diameter, and another 20 meters of grass on top of that. But more importantly, he looked to see who his opponent was. He sensed that they were at the strength of Ultimate, so it was to that level that he quickly evolved. Night-blue and white armor formed on his body, creating the form of MirageGaogamon - his own Ultimate form. And boy did he look forward to taking it out for a spin. "Valt, eh?" he asked, taking in the sight of his next opponent. "I've seen you a few times around Ys, including my wedding. Yeah... kinda glad that you aren't dating one of my kids, believe me, this tournament so far..." he shook his head a little with mirth. His yellow eyes then turned serious. "But of course. Our pupils are watching, it wouldn't do to let them down with just an exhibition. I teach them to expect the unexpected, fight mercilessly until the threat to their person is neutralized. And I intend to do the - SAME!"His last word was suddenly cut off as the beast knight digimon very suddenly closed distance to Valt, his clawed gauntlet raised, as he prepared to aim a slash at the Imperialdramon, aiming for his unarmored upper right arm. It was a special ability of MirageGaogamon to move around the battlefield at high speeds. If Valt could not keep up with him, Owen fully intended to be a threat from both long and close range. His abilities were no longer limited to his jetpack anymore, his powers were drawn from the very wind itself! Owen uses his Flash Step passive to rapidly close distance to Valt and strike with his Gale Claw attack, aiming for the unarmored portion of his upper right arm.
Combat Passive: Flash Step - Owen can move exceptionally fast around the battlefield, having enhanced evasion and can close distances very quickly.
Gale Claw - Owen closes in and slashes at the enemy with his claws, surging with wind energy.

Glad to see they're in same page then. Owen might be speedy, but to Valt's defense, he prepared his buffing technique prior, and therefore he immediately dodged by flapping his wings! The increase in speed made him manage to dodge just right on time (courtesy to Owen's speed. Honestly, that was fast, and he would be losing if not for the ridiculous speed of his buff), rather than having to tank the attack. It sucks if he have to take that one after all. Valt grinned. Not a bad opening move honestly. But he still don't want to be hit by that.
"Nice move!"
But he's going to counter that obviously. After flapping his wings backward like that, Valt immediately kicked the ground and aimed a strike to Owen's solar plexus after gauging the distance. At first, it does not looks like it amounts to anything, but this is the famed one inch punch. It only needs one inch. After he measures the distance with his outstretched finger--
"SU-!"
He aimed to deliver the punch. If it hits, it's going to be rather devastating considering it's a massive pain in the ass, but let's just see.
Valt (Imperialdramon FM [Ultimate]) Status: STR/SPD +60% (1/3)
Combat Passives: Ultima Break (RAM UPGRADE GIGA): Toggleable, imbue a move with "Shield Breaker" property which includes breaking barrier, reflect and cancelling moves for that one move. three turns cooldown between activation
Battle Hype: Hasten Valt's recovery time of currently on cooldown active (not passives) moves by 1 turn everytime he scored 3 hits or its multiplication against an opponent.
Chasing Strike (RAM Upgrade): Trigger-type. If the enemy attempt (but canceled with Ultima Break) or manage to cancel or defend with skill against Valt's attack, allow him to repeat the attack, but with 1/2 power next turn. Action: Dodges Owen's Gale Claw, and immediately counter with One Inch Devastation: Valt inches closer on an opponent, then drives his fist to their solar plexus, executing a one-inch punch. This move deals double the damage if the opponent is buffed and Valt have no buffs. Prevents the opponent from buffed or healed for two turns. 4 turns cooldown.

Owen knew better than to assume Valt would be caught off-guard by his strike. Especially after he had prepared himself beforehand with his strange buffing technique. While Owen had never seen it before, he recognized it as similar to his own Lunatic High as MachGaogamon - making him faster and strike harder. But Owen wasn't about to let the Imperialdramon take the better of him.
As Owen slashed with his Gale Claw, Valt evaded. And Owen prepared for his counter-attack at the same time. He saw the attack coming toward his solar plexus. While as MirageGaogamon, Owen's solar plexus was covered by a giant chest cannon, he would rather not have that be hit so early on in the match.
And so, in response, Owen would quickly move to avoid being struck at that point, using his left claw-gauntlet to push the strike away from his vulnerable chest. And in return, with his left, he'd counter-attack, aiming at Valt's right shoulder again with his Wolf-Fang Fist - an attack he had worked on tirelessly to let those that attempted to evade his strikes to know true pain.
What would happen? Owen knew from the start that Valt was one of the strongest digimon in Ys. But how would they match up against each other? That remained to be seen.
Owen shifts his body and uses his left claw gauntlet to evade Valt's One Inch Devastation.
Owen attempts to counter-attack with Wolf Fang Fist using his right claw gauntlet.
Wolf Fang Fist - Owen aims his claws and thrusts them forward in a heavy punch that can pierce through active, but not passive defenses. Deals 50% more damage if it hits if the target has evaded one of his attacks in the previous turn. [Cooldown: 2 posts]
Cooldowns:
Wolf Fang Fist: 0/2 turns.

Parried? Even with his increased strength and speed? Owen's reaction speed must be very impressive. This changed his strategy. Perhaps he's being a bit too straightforward, so should he just try another approach then? Valt eyes darted at Owen's movement, scanning at his next action. This one attack is quicker, and is quite lethal in close combat like this. It's also aimed at his shoulder?
...But his shoulder is protected, could it be that it's actually boosted in some way?
No choice. Valt immediately punched Owen's striking arm upward. It might not a direct hit, but boy, he's glad that he did that and did not take the attack directly, because that claw against his armor, it pierces through, and managed to draw some blood, albeit still shallow. Before Owen could potentially recover, Valt immediately released a huge dome of electricity at his opponent,
The attack, Imperial Thunder, would prevent Owen from moving. Hit or not, Valt immediately attempted to gain distance from his opponent, lest something came out from that chest. He knew that Owen seem to be very protective of it, and he won't risk hitting that just yet.
Valt (Imperialdramon FM [Ultimate]) Status: STR/SPD +60% (2/3)

His armor took most of it though. cast Imperial Thunder: Melee-range AoE (25 meters at max), blast nearby opponent with paralyzing lightning dome, causing them them unable to move for one turn. 4 turns cooldown. Valt's strike was so sudden and immense that Owen was quite shocked, both emotionally and physically. The lightning sparks danced around his blue digizoid armor, making him cry out in pain as he felt every muscle in his body tense up.
That's what he got for going in hard and fast with Valt. Owen wasn't the only digimon dangerous at all distances, Valt proved himself to be the same. And boy did it smart.
If Owen was to succeed in overcoming him, he'd have to get to his level. The MirageGaogamon hadn't practiced much in this form - given the lack of digimon of equal strength he could spar against. He didn't like sparring with his husband Hikaru, given that he never wanted to hurt his beloved. Other than that, he had spent most of his time educating young digimon in Rosewood.
Plus there was the fact that when Owen reached this level in a previous life, he had done so to perform his duties as a soldier - to kill enemies.
But this lightning strike shook him from this hesitation. Valt meant business. And thus, so would he.
"New Moon Aura!" he cried as Valt cleared the distance after attacking him. At once, Owen felt the numbness in his body wash away, leaving nothing but sharp pain in its place. But it was a reminder of his promise not to hold back in this fight.
"Well done in getting a clean hit in, Valt." he said to his opponent, but a glowing blue aura now surrounded the Beast Knight. "However. It won't get easier from here."
Owen is struck by Imperial Thunder, the energy conducted by his armor to immobilize him.
However, Owen removes this debuff effect with New Moon Aura, and is able to move again.
New Moon Aura - Owen glows with a dark blue energy that soon turns light blue. With this ability, it removes any active debuffs that he might have, and also increases his Attack power by 30% for 3 turns. [Cooldown: 3 posts]
New Moon Aura Duration: 0/3 turns. Wolf Fang Fist cooldown: 1/2 turns.

Well dang, there goes his chance to hit Owen with something devastating this turn! Not only that, his strength also increased... by all means, he guess this means that Owen has reached about half of his strength boost now? Probably slightly more? Either way, that is indeed good move. Valt clenched his fist harder.
"That should be my line. If you take so long to get serious then aren't you looking down at me?" Valt countered. With his still increased speed, the dragon kicked the ground and launched himself at Owen once again. He did several combos of punches, kicks, all aimed at the chest. That's where the weak spot was, right? But even then, it wasn't his aim at all... Should Owen try to counter, Valt would use the last strength of his boost to do a cross over to his backside, then attempted a suplex!
He might will get hit by the attack in the process, but who cares. He need to make his buff counts! With Owen's speed, it might not be a back suplex but instead a frontal suplex, but still.... He hope this works!
If it doesn't work, well, not really a good thing, but at least he can try, right!?
Valt (Imperialdramon FM [Ultimate]) Status: STR/SPD +60% (3/3) (-25% to DEF next turn)
(Current Count: 1)
Chasing Strike (RAM Upgrade): Trigger-type. If the enemy attempt (but canceled with Ultima Break) or manage to cancel or defend with skill against Valt's attack, allow him to repeat the attack, but with 1/2 power next turn. Two turns cooldown between each use. (did not count in the total skill amount he used). Chasing Strike only carries the damage portion without buff or debuff attached if the original skill have it. (Normally dodging doesn't count).
Last Stand (RAM Upgrade): The closer Valt is to unconscious/the closer he is to death, Valt's strength is increased: Moderately damaged: 25% STR Heavily damaged: 35% STR Critically Damaged: 40% STR Last Stand: 200% STR devolve next turn
Action: To use the rest of his buff, Valt do several normal attack combos at Owen. The goal is to make him respond to him... The moment Owen responded, Valt would then follow up with Megaton Suplex. He might get hit in the process, but he need to score bigger hit, so he decide to not care too much about it.
Megaton Suplex: Valt grabs an opponent and drives them to the ground or one other target. This move deals double the damage against paralyzed opponent. Reduce their defense for 50% for 3 turns. 4 turns cooldown.

Owen shook his head at Valt's accusation. "Not at all. As a former military officer, I know well that to lunge foolishly with all my strength into a situation that I don't know is the worst possible move I could make in combat. Yes it could result in my victory, but it could also result in me being trapped and ultimately defeated." he pointed to the Imperialdramon meaningfully. "Just because I don't throw all-in at the start doesn't mean I disrespect you, Valt. I've been in enough battles to know to learn about my opponent. And your abilities so far have shown me that I've done well in my caution."
With that, Valt came at him with a flurry of melee attacks. Owen focused hard, saying no more words as he responded to each blow. However, he knew from how light they were that he was preparing for something stronger. He noted the attacks were aimed at his chest, and he would move his bladed gauntlets to prevent them from striking.
Before Valt could take hold of him for his suplex, Owen utilized the use of his Flash-step, quickly moving out of melee range, hovering 50m away in midair, but not before his chest cannon opened and fired its Full Moon Blaster, sending a pillar of light straight at Valt.
Owen counters Valt's feints with a basic attack of his own.
Before Valt uses his Megaton Suplex, Owen uses his Flash-Step to move 50m away, out of range.
Combat Passive: Flash Step - Owen can move exceptionally fast around the battlefield, having enhanced evasion and can close distances very quickly.
Once in his new position, Owen fires his Full Moon Blaster at [0 charge] at Valt. If it hits, damage is boosted by 30% thanks to New Moon Aura.
Full Moon Blaster - Owen's chest cannon opens briefly, gathering light, then fires a blast of white holy energy at a target. Can be charged for up to 2 turns. Charging increases its power by 75% each turn. [Cooldown: 1 post]

"Hmph, playing it safe, eh? Well, bud, if you don't deal enough damage quickly, you'll have some trouble with me..." truth to be told, he's also having that same trouble. His other form is where his chasing strikes is at, and well... it's not going to go well at all. Should he just slide? But that going to give Owen a bit more time to hit him. In this condition where he's not at all in good strength....
Well, let's go then?
Valt quickly dodged backward the moment Owen dodged his suplex. Because how they're positioned, Valt got more dodging room after all. The full moon blaster might be empowered, but it's not fast enough that he's not quick enough to dodge it. Upon dodging, Valt switched his form to Ulforce Vdramon X antibody. Due to sliding, he does not have any strength to counter this time around. He have to stabilize his data first.
"....Well, then... let's see how you deal with fellow speed players then?"
Valt (Ulforce Vdramon X (Ultimate)) Status: -25% to DEF (1/3) Combat Passives: Ultima Break (RAM UPGRADE GIGA): Toggleable, imbue a move with "Shield Breaker" property which includes breaking barrier, reflect and cancelling moves for that one move. three turns cooldown between activation
Adaptability III (RAM UPGRADE): This Digimon grows more and more attuned to battle each turn passed. 5% increase to strength and speed per turn, capped at 25%. If this Digimon does not attack for two consecutive turns, snared or silenced, the stack drops by 1.
ULFORCE (RAM UPGRADE): When this Digimon's health drops below 25% after an attack by opposing digimon, this Digimon's healing factor activated automatically and restore its health (moderately) and stamina (healing all active cooldown of this form by 2 turns), allowing it to fight for longer. Once per battle, and only one second wind can be triggered per battle.

Damn it! Valt dodged his strike. And furthermore, Valt slide-evolved to a new form. Owen would watch carefully as the Imperialdramon turned into an UlforceVeedramon. A digimon renown for their high speed. He gave a small smile despite himself. It seemed that the swiftness of the MirageGaogamon around the battlefield would now be checked. In a way, that was fine by him.
However, the fact that he needed to re-establish his tempo against his opponent's new form would be tricky. Especially in that Valt was a digimon that by now had established he was not one to lower his guard around, since he had many very nasty attacks up his sleeve. And thus Owen would continue his attack from a distance.
"If you want quick damage, mate, have some of this!" he shouted with gauntlets crossed, then with a flash of yellow light, sent 6 blades of energy sailing through the air toward Valt. They would converge on his position, and it would take some very fancy footwork to dodge all of them. And with the light of his New Moon Aura still glowing, these would pack a nasty sting.
Owen uses Double Crescent Mirage to attack Valt, aiming to use the tracking ability of the attack to home in on him.
Double Crescent Mirage - Owen crosses his claw gauntlets, has them glow yellow, then sends a shower of 6 golden blades of light that track toward the enemy. [Cooldown: 1 post]

Well, that's not a bad strategy at all, definitely. Valt grinned under his mouthpiece. While Imperialdramon is a hefty fighter that gets stronger when it's damaged, Ulforce Vdramon meanwhile is a well balanced fighter which depends on survivability. The moment the crescent strikes come, Valt decided that he'll take it for the meantime. He need to increase the score further to his side. From the movement of the attack as he advanced, he felt that this one would be a pain to dodge... or more like, it's following him. So might as well as give it what it want. Valt crossed his arms in front of him, shielding his face, and folds his wings close to his sides. He grunted in pain as the attack hits, drawing some blood. But the moment the attack clears up, Valt got his own attack to send.
The moment he got close enough, Valt would release three orbs of lightning from his body that fused into single orb. it quickly transmutates into a spear like object that Valt called down to descend on Owen with a wave of his arm. This technique might have a surprise ready if Owen tried to dodge it.

Owen had been in enough combat to know what was coming. Valt braced himself for this attack and was closing in fast! And such speed... Owen knew it'd take way more effort to dodge attacks from the UlforceV-dramon than it would from the Imperialdramon. Still, he'd keep his reserves for now.
The beast knight by now knew that in this tournament, it would be impossible to get through a battle without pain. He saw those electric sparks, and knew that his blue digizoid armor would not be enough to protect him from all of what Valt was packing. But if he was going to get hurt, so was Valt.
Owen's chest cannon opened as the MirageGaogamon howled as he flew straight toward his opponent, then as Valt closed in to launch the blow, Owen retaliated with a burst of discordant energy that would hopefully wash over Valt as he approached.
Aurora Sirius - a technique that he had come up with that would hopefully grant a small amount of respite in intense battles. And this one was definitely one of his most intense - including those in his old days in the DWR as a Recon Captain.
Still, that lightning hit his armor nastily.
Owen takes the Voltic Explosion attack and is damaged.
Owen retaliates with Aurora Sirius as Valt attacks.
[RAM Upgrade] Aurora Sirius - Owen howls a discordant cry, causing the skies to ripple with aurora, then he launches a beam from his chest laser at one target with a wide area of effect (spreads out to 10 meters). If it hits a foe, they are rendered Silent, and are unable to use named attacks for 1 turn. [Cooldown: 3 turns]
Damage is increased by 30% because of New Moon Aura.

The proximity of his attack, and the counterattack was smart... he couldn't have dodged that on time unless he used his buff... but honestly, Valt decided to not, all thing considered. If he used the buff, that going to cost him some precious time to attack. Instead, he let the attack hits him. He's not sure how to even block the attack. cover his ears? That sounds like almost impossible with how fast sound travels-- but he was wrong. The real attack instead came from a beam on his chest. Fuck. The attack hits squarely on him. That and added with his reduced defense makes this hurter for Valt. He crashed to the ground, but quickly stood back.
Not one second after his ears still ringing from the howl, his system quickly alerted him that a foreign interference was detected in his system. Silence? Hm, so that's the tactic, eh? However, there's a fatal mistake for Owen. In case of Valt, his Ulforce Vdramon form is not exactly the speedy one. The speedier one was the Imperialdramon, but perhaps due to its size, it looked slower.
Ulforce meanwhile? It's meant to soak damage like a boss.
Although technically he lacks defense boosting ability in this form, it comes in form of heal and immunity to negative status effects. The moment the system alerted him, Valt already flushed the intruding negative status effect out. While it looked as if Owen's technique worked... Valt suddenly dashed forward, sabers brandished, aiming a melee clash with Owen... or at least that what he hoped to imply to his opponent... Until either Owen moves away or clashes back, then Valt would suddenly release a blaster from the V protrusion on his chest!
Valt (Ulforce Vdramon X (Ultimate)) Status: -25% to DEF (3/3) Adaptability Stack: 2 (Boost to ATK and SPD by 10%)
Combat Passives: Ultima Break (RAM UPGRADE GIGA): Toggleable, imbue a move with "Shield Breaker" property which includes breaking barrier, reflect and cancelling moves for that one move. three turns cooldown between activation

As the attacks clashed, Owen snarled his defiance, willing to take the pain of the lightning to render Valt vulnerable in this moment. But... to his sheer astonishment, Valt seemed to be able to shrug this off, them aim a melee strike at him. At once, Owen's amber eyes widened, then narrowed as he parried the strike with his claws, as he could see the energy charging.
"You... are able to do that?" he asked, silent in his fury. He stopped short of accusing Valt of cheating, but damn, was he close. It seemed Valt was perfectly able to shrug off the effect of his Aurora Sirius without even breaking a sweat - a great change from when he himself was stunned by Valt's attempt but was only able to break out of it with a technique of his own.
Owen didn't put any further thought into his next move. He could tell that Valt was charging something, so Owen replied by using his Flash Step to rapidly move to Valt's flank and aim a Gale Claw at his right wing, hoping that aiming at this limb would limit his ability to dodge further attacks.
If Owen couldn't win through brute force, he'd aim to win this via piecemeal strikes at his opponent's vulnerable areas before going in for the ending blow.
Owen parries Valt's strike with a basic attack of his own.
Owen uses Flash Step to rapidly reposition himself behind Valt's right shoulder.
