Kayden kept quiet, just listening to the two's interaction, shaking his head before the group began to talk about what they wanted for food. Kayden thought for a moment, trying to decide what he wanted to eat.
"Oh! Sausages!" chirped Yin.
"I prefer Pizza." Yang stated.
"We had Sausages from a nice 'Mon a few hours ago." Yang reminded the other.
"But I still want Sausages..."
"It's Kayden's decision."
The two look up at him, waiting to see what he had to say. He hated to be put on the spot like this but he couldn't really complain. He knew that he had to decide quick before the two start arguing, so he decided to say the one thing that popped into his mind.
"How about burgers?" He questioned, making the twin blinks and look at each other before nodding.
"Burgers it is. Awesome possum!" "Awesome possum!" "Whoah, that was weird." The group walks down to the grill and finds a table to sit at. Dante sits down while Wormmon sits on the table across from Kayden and the twins. This diner is fairly busy, filled with Digimon of all kinds. Dante and Wormmon go over the menu.
"Let's see, do I want a bacon burger, or a steak burger? Can I get bacon on the steak? What are you guys getting?"
After placing their order, it wasn't long until their Gabumon waiter brought them their drinks. The burgers would arrive soon after. Wormy went with a double bacon and broccoli burger with a chocolate milkshake, while Dante ordered a regular burger with a fruit drink. Wormy takes a monstrous bite into the supersized burger. His eyes widen and his antennae stick up high. "Mmm, this is so good!" A big sip of milkshake washed it down well.
"I'm glad you are enjoying it, Wormmon. Mine is good too." Nothing like food in the Digital World to recharge energy. Wormmon was especially hungry after the flight.
Kayden sat across from Dante and Wormy, the twins sitting on either side of him. After talking to the two, they decided to order one regular cheeseburger with a sprite and for the twins...both double bacon burgers with milkshakes. He sipped at his drink when it came and the twins did the same.
"This is good!" Chirped Yin as he sipped his drink and Tang simply made a noise of agreement. Then, the two attacked their food hungrily while Kayden ate his food as a slower pace. He watched as the twins finished his food in record time, both of them sighing in content before they suddenly paused. They were quick to hop off of the seat and onto the floor and, before Kayden could say anything, they began to glow, Yin's being white and Yang's being red.
"Koromon digivolves to...AGUMON!"
"Koromon digivolves to...BLACKAGUMON!"
the glow that encased the two broke apart and in front of him was two identical reptile like creatures, one being orange and other being black.
Dante smiles and continues eating while the three Digimon pig out on some bacon burgers. After finishing his burger, Wormmon slurps down the rest of his milkshake and lays on his back. "Ahh, that was delicious. So sleepy now." Wormmon relaxes and closes his eyes, but then Ying and Yang hop down off the table. The twin Koromon Digivolve to Agumon and BlackAgumon.
"Woo hoo! My new buddies got bigger." "Congratulations. Both of you are a lot bigger now." "Can you tell which one is which? Yang is, the orange one! No wait, the dark one." "The dark triad will reign supreme!"
Dante suddenly gets a chill down his spine. The dark triad? "Wow, that toy is smarter than I thought. It even knows about the dark triad." "Quite a disturbing thing for a toy to say."
After they finish their meals, Dante pays the bill. He takes out a small grey communicator and calls up Shirou. A little blue chibi robot hologram pops up.
"Hey Shirou, how is it going?" "It's going fine. What are you up to?"
"Well, we found this odd toy Stingmon that says things Wormmon says. You wouldn't happen to know anything about this, do you?" "Dante, you cunning fox. Alright, I may have manufactured some custom talking action figures. What do you think?"
"I knew it! You used my likeliness without me agreeing to you giving me money, fool!" "Hmm, how about you come over and we will go over the proper paperwork?" "Alright, then. Hey, we met a new Tamer today. Can they come with? Do you guys want to go?" "Sure thing. Hello there! A new Tamer with twin Agumon? Delightful!" The chibi robot waves at Kayden.
"Believe me, Dante, I am sorry I didn't ask you before we went into production. I'll give you an excellent royalty deal. Let me just upload my portal coordinates to your digi-port." "Alright, thank you."
When they are done talking to the little robot, Dante opens up a bright blue portal. "Shirou is some kind of technology wizard. He's always creating advanced robots, but his morals are skewed. Ready to go?"
"Yay! We're rookies!" laughed Yin as he grabbed his brother's claws in his own and pretty much forced him to celebrate by spinning around. "I can't believe this, finally!"
Kayden could only stare at his partners, taken aback by the abrupt change. He wasn't expecting that in the slightest...he shook his head and finished his meal and, once they were done and Dante paid, he watched as the other pulled out the device and flip it on and he just listened, waiting for the other to get done with the call thing.
He looked when Dante opened the portal, eyeing slightly before looking at Dante when the other addressed him. "Ready whenever you are."
After finishing their meal, the group enters the portal from Dante's digi-port. They travel through a digitized wormhole as bright colors spiral around them. They reappear inside a laboratory. The floors are light blue and polished, and the room is full of giant computers and robotics. A frail man with long black hair and glasses wearing a white suit strolls up to the group.
"Greetings. Welcome to my lab." "Nice to see you again, Shirou." "I know last time we saw each other, it didn't exactly end well in your favor." "You tricked me and took off with my swag bags. I had some good manga in there." "My apologies. You are welcome to look at my collection sometime."
Shirou turns his attention to Kayden. "So, you're Dante's new friend, a new Digimon Tamer. Welcome, newbie." Shirou looks down at Ying and Yang. "I bet you two are going to be real strong one day. What would you say to some training? I can program an obstacle course." "That sounds like fun! But first, you owe me some money, mister!" "Very well, but that line is not selling as well as expected. My assistant is writing up a contract. Please, have a seat."
Shirou waves his hand across the air. A mechanical sound can be heard as a section of the floor lowers and a lounge area appears. "With my equipment, I can monitor your data and test your abilities." Shirou walks over to a control panel and starts typing away. A wall splits apart in a hexagonal pattern to reveal a training area. "All right! I've been itching for some action ever since we drove Gazimon off."
When they went through the portal, Kayden had to shut his eyes as the bright colors assaulted them. He was not prepared for that, not at all. He waited to get out on the other side and when he did, he slowly opened his eyes, blinking. He took in the laboratory, looking around before noting the frail man standing there. He listened to the man's and Dante's conversation, curious of what they were talking about. Then, the man, Shirou turned to him and began to speak.
"Uh, thanks..." he murmured as the other pretty much welcomed him.
"Of course we gonna be strong!" Yin puffed out his chest. "With Kayden here now, we'll be strong in no time!"
"...You're putting to much faith in me." Kayden chuckled slightly, scratching his cheek with a finger until Shirou said about training and an obstacle course. "That's up to you two. What do you guys think?"
Yang thought for a moment. "Well, it would be fine to see what we are capable of in this form..."
When the lounge area appears, Yang nudged Kayden over to it and he walked over without complaint and sat down.Once the training area was revealed, the twins walked over to the area.
Normally, Dante would be cautious around the computer genius. Shirou had tricked him before, but his unusually warm and friendly demeanor put his mind at ease. After introducing himself to Dante's new friend Kayden, Shirou offers to run some training exercises for the newly minted Rookies. Kayden leaves it up to Yin and Yang to decide. The twins and Wormmon walk over to the training area while Dante and Kayden stay in the lounge area. Dante leans back on one of the couches and relaxes.
"Shirou, you don't disappoint your guests. Why don't you have people over more often?" "There is a limit to how much I can stand being around people. Fortunately, I have not used up my allotted hour of social time this week. Don't worry, I can go over the limit today if necessary."
It was clear that Shirou knows all about gadgets, electronics, and computers, but his social skills were basically set to zero. Shirou continues typing away at the control panel, activating the training course. One by one, sections of the walls around the training area split to reveal several obstacles such as bars, walls, and nets.
"Check it out! This looks like something out of that show, the one where people faceplant on big red balls."
Shirou speaks into a microphone and his voice can be heard through speakers around the lab.
"Let's start off with something basic. Navigate your way through the obstacles and hit the buzzer on the other end. There are nets under some of the higher areas, but there are still areas where you could fall and get hurt. You can choose to race each other and see who gets there first, or go at your own pace."
The first obstacle is a balance beam. The Digimon must climb up and cross a narrow walkway to the other end. The next obstacle is a digital wall with a rope hanging down. Simply get up and over. The next obstacle is more tricky. The Digimon must navigate from platform to platform like stepping stones across a river.
The forth obstacle is a series of monkey bars that get higher in the middle. Finally, the last obstacle features a spinning platform. A 15 foot plank rotates around in the center. The Digimon must hop on from the first platform and make it to the end. There is the risk of getting hit by the platform or falling off, but there is netting below.
Wormy turns to Yin and Yang. "This looks like fun! Do you guys wanna race, or just for fun?" Whatever they decide, they can begin when ready. There are three lanes set up, so they won't have to worry about bumping into each other.
"For fun!" Yin chirped as he and Yang looked over the course. The twins quickly got into their respective lane and got ready, waiting.
Kayden watched the two from where he's sitting, his fingers tapping against the outer side of his thighs. His mind began to review the events of these last few hours and the information he had been told by Wormy and Dante. It was really almost overwhelming. He had no idea a world like this one had ever existed nor the digital monsters that inhabit it.
He didn't know what to think, what to do except for probably learning as much as he could about this world. That couldn't be too hard, right?
He leaned back in his seat, fingers still tapping away.
The twins agreed to do the obstacle course for fun. Wormy gets ready at the starting line. When a light flashes green, Wormy starts crawls towards the first obstacle. Wormmon crawls up to the balance beam and crawls across without much difficulty. The second obstacle was easy enough as well, as Wormmon is well suited for climbing up walls.
The next obstacle was more difficult for the Worm King. He hops across the platforms, but slips off the side and falls into the digital pool below. After wading over back to the start of the obstacle, he takes his time carefully hopping from one platform to the next. He reaches the monkey bars, something that requires more upper body strength and longer arms than Wormmon is equipped with.
"Uh, I think I'm going to take the easy way across on this one. That or you could give me some robot arms."
Wormmon shoots a silk thread at the middle bar and swings across Tarzan style. The last obstacle is last for a reason. Wormmon climbs onto the platform and tries to hop onto the bar, but gets smacked and falls down to the net. After a few more attempts and wiping out, Wormmon latches onto the bar and crawls across, reaching the buzzer. Yin and Yang stand a decent chance of reaching the buzzer before Wormy, but it's all for fun.
Meanwhile, Kayden is feeling overwhelmed by all the information today. How is one to react to discovering a whole new world full of virtual monsters? Shirou notices Kayden pondering. "What do you think of Digimon so far? It must be exciting to experience everything for the first time. Do you have any questions?"
The twins got up onto the beam after Wormy crossed and started to make their way over to the other side, almost slipping here and there- Yin more times than Yang- before hopping off the other side. They decided to use their claws to climb up the second obstacle...meaning lots of holes into the wall. On the third...well they were clumsy with their Jumping and Yin fell of. he met his brother at the end and they moved on to the next. They did the monkey bars which was somewhat easy for them. The final one...well, it gave them trouble but eventually, they made it through and they both smacked the buzzer, out of breath.
"I...like the Digimon so far- the good one anyways. Yeah, I guess it is exciting." He paused, thinking about any questions that he would have before he reached up and fondled his goggles slightly. "Um...I don't think I have any at the moment..."
The Agumon twins exceled at different obstacles than the shorty, sticky bug. Wormmon had little trouble crossing the beam and the wall with ease, but lacked the legs and arms long enough for the skipping stones and monkey bars. After taking an early lead, Yin and Yang caught up to the bug. They equaled around the same pace until Wormmon's multiple hits from the rotating bar cost him. Wormmon smiles and stands up high on his hind legs.
"That was crazy! Good job, you guys." "All three are at Rookie level, but their skills differ. Agumon are known for their strength, especially at high levels." "Ya, you two may have some muscles, but I've got sweet ninja moves!"
Like Dante, Shirou quickly took interest in the new Tamer's training. When asked about Digimon, Kayden replied that he likes the good ones, and didn't really have any questions for the tech wiz. Shirou adjusts his collar and pushes his glasses back slightly.
"You three did very well. The obstacle course is great for training younger Digimon, and a good way to keep Wormmon in good shape. Though I must admit, he must have an incredibly fast metabolism considering his high calorie diet." "How many calories are in a burger? 2? No, 6!" "Several hundred. The next logical step would be some target practice, maybe some light combat."
A circle appears on the floor next to the Digimon and a floating robot rises up. The target dummy is round on top with a cylindrical body, with a white coating and red markings. "Allow me to demonstrate, meet my Digimon partner, Keramon." Shirou types away on the keyboard, as several cables rise up around the control panel. A terrifying face appears on the screen. The Digimon comes out of the screen, controlling a body made mostly of cables and wires. Keramon speaks in a series of beeps, communicating with binary. The phantom-like Digimon floats over to Kayden and smiles sinisterly right in front of him before beeping in binary. "He is saying, nice to meet you."
Keramon turns and drifts over towards the start of the course. Rather than crawl across the beam, Keramon dashes right across, only touching the beam with a wavy cable or two. Keramon phases right through the wall no problem, and the stepping stones did not stale him at all. Once reaching the monkey bars, Keramon actually tries instead of just ghosting through. The Virus Digimon swings around back and forth and all around on the bars, hanging upside down and smiling at the other Digimon.
Keramon wraps his body all around different bars, then jets towards the next platform, untangling with ease. When at the rotating bar, Keramon waits patiently and latches onto the bar like a squid, and waits until it rotates 180 degrees until plopping down at the end. Keramon gently floats to the buzzer, and when he presses it, fireworks start going off around the training area.
"Aww, quit showing off, Keramon!" Keramon makes beeping noises and pets Wormmon on the head. The squid-like Digimon turns towards the target drone and launches a bolt of electricity. The blast nails the target head on, sending it spinning around before returning to its place. The top of the bot lights up with a green light to signal that it was hit. "The targets can take multiple hits, move at controllable speeds, and can fire weak lasers as a basic projectile. Ready to give it a shot?" More target drones pop up around the Digimon.
Yin grinned at the praise while Yang just scratched the side of his snout with a claw. Kayden listened to what Shirou was saying and he just watched the twins were were talking to each other, Yin being the happy go lucky 'Mon that he is, was being rather animated with his talking. Yang on the other hand...was not.
He looked when he saw the glowing circle and then the target dummy appearing before the man's partner come out of the computer screen a few minutes later. Kayden took every detail of this Keramon in. He was defiantly different from the Digimon he had seen before. He was not expecting for this Digimon to come to him either, speaking in his own way. Once the man translated what the Digimon was saying, he nodded. "It's nice to meet you too."
He watched as the new Digimon began to do the course with relative ease. When he glanced over to the twins, he held back a chuckle when he saw Yin's jaws gaping and Yang's eyes widened slightly.
Once Keramon's done, he demistrates with the target dummy and then, the twins were asked if they were ready to give it a shot as more and more began to pop up.
The twins are well on their way training to become stronger. It had been a while since Dante saw Shirou's partner Keramon. When the ghoulish Digimon floats up to Kayden and greets the new Tamer, Shirou interprets the beeps and Kayden replies back. It must be unnerving to encounter such a bizarre creature after only just discovering Digimon for the first time.
When it came to the obstacle course, it was clear that Keramon had run this course many times before. Keramon's unique skills left Yin's jaw dropped and Yang wide eyed. The Rookies begin target practice with the drones. Wormmon dashes towards one and hops up, spinning around and smacking the target with his tail. The drone predictably spirals around and lights up green before resetting and moving farther away. Too high to reach, Wormmon shoots a silk thread at the drone and pulls it tight, slamming it into another target and lighting up both.
"Ya-ha! Two for one special, you tinker toys!"
After taking a few hits, the drones start firing back. The lasers they fire do not cause much damage, but it does sting bad. One of the drones targets Wormmon, who dodges around to avoid being hit. Finally, one of the beams hits Wormmon's tail. "Oww! That doesn't tickle, you know?"
Wormmon starts crawling away from the drone, but it pursues the bug. Wormmon crawls over to one of the obstacles and hops onto the side of a wall before jumping off and landing on the target. Wormmon bites the drone, munching on the metal. The extra weight tips the drone over and causes it to spin out and crash, the green light flashing a couple of seconds after impact.
The bots were fairly harmless, dodging around Yin and Yang after being hit making it more difficult over time, but now they are returning fire. Maybe by working together, the two Rookies can take out the targets. Keramon, having the home field advantage, has little difficulty with the drones. When fired upon, the Virus type dodges around, contorting its body to avoid the beams. A quick strike with a cable easily hits a target. More and more drones surround Keramon, but Keramon stretches its cables out in different directions, puncturing multiple drones right through the casing.
"You're too good at this, Keramon. You're like that kid always playing a game so he's way better than all his friends." "You should see Keramon play Rock Hero. He plays drums and guitar at the same time." "That's awesome! I bet he can't sing though." "You would be surprised."
Shirou turns his attention to the Tamers. "Would you like anything to drink?"
The brothers watched as Wormmon joined in on the training and, after the robots began to fight back, they looked at one another and nodded and then, turn to face a 'bot that was closest to them, their frame tensing as they got ready to join in on the training.
"You ready, bro?" "Whenever you are." "3...2...1...GO!"
The two rushed forward, Yang allowing his brother to pull ahead of him and attack first. In jumped up into the air, his claws poised on the offence.
Claws came down on the target, making the drone go backwards some ways. It stilled and the light turned green before it resets. Then, it too went on the offensive, effectively zapping Yin, making the Digimon yelp. Yin saw his opportunity and took it.
A fireball came out of his mouth and hit the target head on, making the light turn green once more.
"Uh...what do you have to drink?" Kayden questioned when he asked if he wanted a drink.
