To those who wanted to use the Trailmon service, they might soon find something a little queer. Basically, the service has stopped from Terminus to other city. In fact, it's seem that that day of service seem to be completely cut, even those from real world to Digital World. There are really no service available, quoted as "case of power outage and severe unpleasant odor buildup".
No one really know the reason as of what caused the distress, but either way, that day, Digiport sells like hot cakes. Between trying to get home on time and hard earned bits, most definitely prefer the former. At any rate, Digimons meanwhile are not so lucky with their endeavor. Some that got stuck protested to high heaven and back, while bigger, flying Digimons offering their service at exorbitant price...
...While this looks like a normal chaos, this is practically unheard of in Terminus. Something must be afoot, but what exactly? Two Digimons, one Gabumon and another Drimogemon is talking on a dark alleyway, silently glancing at the masses.
"...They're getting desperate," the Gabumon worriedly commented "Have there been any news from the recon team?"
"No, nothing," the Drimogemon answered. "We might have something afoot. But old Terminus is treacherous... We need... we need help, quick... But who would help us like this? If we mobilized too much, the citizen and tourist alike would notice something is wrong..."
"Can't we request someone from any of the team or organization in Digital World?"
"...Well we can, but... there are apparently a lot of strange situation in various area of Digital World too..."
"Shit, just... shit..." the Gabumon cursed. "...Boss, can we really do nothing?"
"I... I'm going to go to Trailmon Terminal, maybe someone is there and they noticed the strange smell... maybe they want to investigate or something..." the Drimogemon hastily decided.
"That's almost as bad as no plan at all!"
"But what else can we do here!? The more we wait, the more Terminus will lose its income and credibility as megapolis of Digital World!"
...It's getting out of hand. To outsider who could only listen to the last part, it sounded as if those two are stressed from their job and therefore, they did not do much but to just spare a glance at them...

It was something completely new to Sho, being this frustrated. He'd given up on using his DigiPort today, decided that he needed to take the Trailmon to cool his nerves and steady his heartstrings. But then there was the traffic, the hubbub, the several kerfuffles occuring around the terminal. He already had enough of it in the human world, but now the digital world was coming down with the same thing? Something's wrong...Nothing gets this packed unless something is wrong. Other than your- Sho's musings wouldn't be interrupted by anything. His frustration and previous anger was strong enough to override anything that wasn't his own perception. He'd even burned his spirit out. He could stomp up to the chaos himself and look at what was going on. He closed his eyes, trying to listen in to what the Digimon around him were saying or shouting about. There had to be an event or some kind of disaster hidden in their words. Even...in the small disgruntled whispers about someone's work. That's it...Sho moved himself towards the Gabumon and pushed up his glasses, refreshing himself on the things he just heard. "You guys work with the terminal, right?" He presumes, aiming a finger towards them. "Do you know why it's out? Everyone looks like a bomb just went off..." He asks, continuing to swivel his head about to see if there was any massive creature about to burst forth, anyone about to run away or scream in terror. Things in the digital world didn't just stop working...not things this reliable.

Another bespectacled human boy gazed at the crowd, propping himself on his toes and leaning left and right. He struggled in vain to see with his own eyes over the impatient masses.
"Ahhh, it's fine~! We can just walk to Rosewood!" So spake a voice descending upon the human from above.
"Why don't I put you on the ground and have you say that again?" retorted the mere mortal. A little blue Veemon, who was currently receiving a piggyback ride from his trusted friend and partner, thought about this proposal and shook his head, before resting it on the head of said partner and purring affectionately. "Yeah, butter me up harder, why don'tcha, Levi?" smirked that human, whose name, as it happens, was Alan. If they had noticed the "buildup of unpleasant odor," they had likely already dismissed it as "strange, but not alarming."
Scouting the nearby area, the blonde young man caught sight of a familiar face, who had recently struck up a conversation a somewhat-stressed Gabumon. If anybody knew, or was at least already investigating, what was going on, it would be Sho. "Hey, Sho!" called Alan as he made his way over. "Nice to see you again! Seems you got here before us. Any insight into the holdups?"

What a big city.
No wonder his bat friend decides to pursue her dream to be number one singer by going to Terminus City. It's the center of everything. The center of the Digital Universe. Definitely the center stage for everyone who wants attention. But finding her is tough luck, especially, with the only clue that is a singing DemiDevimon pursuing a career. But can't say fooling around in Terminus is not fun. In fact, he got so many information and he even got some bits for exchanging his information and any data in his repository. Sooner or later he will get used to this kind of lifestyle, if not for his desire to find the Great Library.
By chance, and maybe as the Yggdrasil wished, Higgs somehow ended up in Trailmon Station. Apparently closed and shut down because of power outage, and possibly sewer leakage.
Curiosity got the Keramon. He floats around at steady and stealthy pace, looking for anything that would lead him to the source of the problem. No particular Human nor Digimon have the information he desired. Most of the time he only hear complaints about the shutdown and how it ruined their schedule.
But of course, the key to get information about some spicy event happening is always going through the dark corner. Usually the real talk happens behind the shadows. So, the brown-cloaked Keramon that decided he have enough hearing the complaints from the crowd take a steep turn towards the darker corridor in the Terminal. He sweeps the entire corridor and the alleyway until he passed a Drimogemon that is somehow walking hastily.
He must've known something about this, judging from his stern and scrunched expression.
"Good day to you, sir. Are you the Terminal staff?"
Higgs the cloaked Keramon casually greeted the Drimogemon with his garbled, distorted, high-pitched kiddy voice.

The two nearly jumped out from shock at suddenly being addressed. Once they turned around, they saw a human.. a human and Digimon pair, and an unique looking Keramon.... Interesting combination. The boss seem to sense their level enough and quickly shifted his gear from being scared to hopeful.
"Ah, um... you see... er, do you mind if we don't talk here? If we talk about it here, I think the board won't be pleased, you see.. How about our little break room? Please, over here."
Should the team followed, they'll soon arrive in what looked like a rest area for the workers. It must be small if there are various adult stages in here, but because the only adult stage here is just the Drimogemon, it's very spacious. There are almost no safety clothes and helmet hanged, probably because the rest are working on field, but... either way, the Gabumon immediately served some tea and snacks.
"...Thank you for your interest. I don't even care if you won't help us or anything, just... if you know anyone that can help that we can contact that would be great. We're... we're frankly panicking here. So, where to start, hmn... I guess best to say what happened huh? Basically, as you know, underneath Terminus, there is two places... One is Tenebrous, another is... Old Terminus.
At first, there are some unpleasant smell that came from the ditches so we thought it was Tenebrous people. We confronted them, and well... they said they know nothing and thought it was us. Of course both side knows nothing, and well... it escalated to point where two cities are accusing of one another of being the cause. However today, Train Terminal got its electricity completely cut... We can no longer refreshes our Trailmon workers there.
...Well, uh, we thought it's Tenebrous' fault, sabotaging us and all, but... then someone suggested that the problem wasn't Tenebrous, but actually... Old Terminus. There seem to be something there that causes the problem. Because Tenebrous also affected, we... ended up doing a joint recon, but until now there are no news about that. We started this since this morning, and because the situation doesn't improve, we decided to stop the service.
Um, and well... we need someone to go there. I think the path that we have to go to is a bit of too small for adult stages, so... Child stages would be appreciated, at least until we know what causes it..."
The Drimogemon wondering what else should he said....
"...Um, that's more or less what happened. If you got any question or...?"

The young man and the Veemon nodded at the staff's request to take the conversation to a more private area, following them into their little break room, along with the other two curious individuals. Alan bowed politely in thanks and accepted when offered tea and snacks, handing some to his partner as well. He had never been too keen on tea, but he was always willing to make a reasonable attempt to drink it when it was offered. They munched away as they were given some of the explanation they had requested, about how an unpleasant smell had been causing tension between Terminus and Tenebrous below.
"From the sound of it..." said Alan, after finishing a small swig of tea, "you don't have much more information on what's going on than most passerby, but you have a lead, albeit a general one, and that's a pretty good place to start."
Levi tapped a claw on his white-scaled chin. "Even if it is a general area, we're lucky that the issue we're looking for smells funny. That makes it easier to play hot-and-cold with it." The partners glanced at one another. "It sounds interesting, but more importantly, we'd be glad to help out in any way we can. Staying in child stage is no big deal for us. We won't really have more questions until we go to see for ourselves."

Well... something smells fishy, indeed.
Higgs agreed to follow he Drimogemon to the break room so there's no one gets the wrong idea. Fair enough. The staff must be in hectic situation as of now, and the last thing they want to hear is the crowd's complaining that won't solve a damn thing. And it seems he's not the only curious soul here. He saw another pair of human and Digimon. Must be Digimons that have their Tamers.
The cloaked Keramon then patiently listening to everything the staff have to say, politely taking quite a bunch of the snacks and flung them into the bottomless mouth of his.The tea however, is not really picking up his interest, so he just eat the snacks while waiting for the story to end.
Politics is not really on Higgs' list of interests, but more or less he understood the crisis. As the Veemon-partnered human spoke, the Keramon just nodded, agreeing to the point that he made. This needs to be confronted directly. Whatever danger is waiting behind those smelly part of the train tunnel, needs to be get rid off soon. And the sooner, the better.
And while everyone's at it... a few data collecting here and there won't hurt. Higgs is taking his chances at this one.
"Well... something is indeed, smells fishy. But seeing that your recon team hasn't giving anything, i guess we have to check on them...? I don't really mind doing that. I have nothing to do, anyways."

it's been ten days, so skippin'...
"Yes, indeed, it's as you said. I'm afraid they're either lost, or got into some sort of problem... Basically, there are some... uh, problems around Digital World lately apparently... First about sleeping people on the north, then the storm on the south.... now I heard there are tons of strange looking Digimons found all around the world. Honestly, everything goes like this, but as much as we appreciate your help, I don't want you to suddenly just thrust to this sort of thing without briefing of what to expect," the Drimogemon said.
"But if you want to go, then I'll guide you," the Gabumon said. "
"We got someone else stationed on the source, and well, he'll guide you while you're inside. He's a rough looking Gazimon, but he means well. He was part of the team who was sent this morning to resolve the issue... E-either way... It's not too late to back out now... backing out later might be... hard or impossible..."

"Hey now," said Levi, raising a clawed hand, "if you have more information on what to expect, we would love to hear it, but it seemed to us like you weren't sure of much yet, if you'll excuse the misunderstanding."
"Yeah, sorry about that," added Alan. "However, you don't have to worry yourself too much about us getting into danger. We have experience investigating these kinds of phenomenon."
"You mentioned the Sloth epidemic in the Northern Prominence? My partner and I were part of the team sent in for recon and the rescue of the victims."
The human chuckled. "Aye, that one was definitely hard to back out of. Basically, what we're saying is we'll definitely take on this job! We're ready to go whenever you are." After that, the pair would glance over to and approach the cloaked Keramon. "So it seems like we're going to be working together, eh? I'm Alan. My partner here is Levi. It's a pleasure to meet you." Both of them would extend their arm for a handshake, if the Keramon was interested.

"Well, i have nothing else to do at this moment. This might be fun. Win-win for both of us. You guys got your problem solved, and i get the fun."
The Keramon dismissed the concern and stand firm to join whatever shenanigans that will happen from this investigation. Not to mention, that he might get anything interesting that would become a good piece of information. And not to mention that the Keramon is missing the thrill he had when living in the chaotic Dark Area.
At that time, the human wear glasses initiated the communication first. Well, they will be together for quite a while. Won't hurt to become a bit friendly and giving some feedback in the communication. This human seems dependable, too. The handshake is replied with a relaxed but firm grip. Enthusiasm.
"Well, since we gonna be in this for a while, nice to meet you! Name's Higgs and hope we can get along well."
The other humans isn't too bad, either. But for now Higgs just wait for whatever happens next.

"Y-yes, actually we're not really sure what's going on so to say. That's why we're sending peoples down there, but none of them has returned. There is someone who pretty much standing by because he's young and not as experienced as the other, you see..."
Well, that explains it some, but either way... "...If you says so. I'd hate to impose this matter to you just right after you reconed for what happened there on the north, but... We'll be counting on you."
"Please follow me then. Ah, I forgot to tell you but my name's Freddie. Pleasure to meet you," the Gabumon told party. "I don't think we'll have that much of a chance chatting though because as much as I wanted to know what's going down there, apparently there are also communication jamming, so we can't really talk with you while you're down there... but we do have a mean for you to return..."
The party waded through a secret passage--although probably rather than secret more to like entry for staff, that seem heads toward the Trailmon Station. There, it's empty, but the smell was absolutely disgusting, almost like mix of something rotten and something chemical poured right above it. On top of it, there are smell like some burning flesh.
"Just saying but if you want to buy anything in Terminus Mall, Well... for better or worse, the Terminus Mall will deliver it to us immediately... no question asked. So if you for some reason want to purchase anything... either make it now, or you can proceed. If you proceed now, that guy inside would definitely not turn back for any reason unless it's absolutely emergency. His father was sent down there this morning after all, so he's... understandably antsy." Freddie said.

"True, it was harrowing..." Alan conceded, "but you don't have to worry about imposing on us. If anything, we're more eager to help people than ever."
Levi heard the Keramon's point and thought to add it to his list of pros. "And have fun while doing it!"
"I prefer to word it by saying it's 'thrilling.' That way, I'm not implying that I'm making light of any serious situations. At least, not as directly."
The human adjusted the strength of his handshake to whatever percentage of strength it seemed Higgs would be using. Some people liked to choke the other hands to show off or something, but luckily, this did not appear to be one of those cases. The partners were sure they would get along well with him for the duration of the mission, and who knows? Perhaps they would continue to get along afterwards!
"Nice to meet you, too, Freddie! Now..."
The party proceeded into the secret passage, certain they could brave any danger that awaited. They hadn't considered stench when they were busy being certain. Alan sighed heavily and decided to stand his ground, breathing mostly through his mouth now. "I've bought just about every gizmo I could ever find useful from the Terminus Mall. As long as they haven't added gas masks since I was last in there, I think I'm good for now. How about you guys?"

"Don't worry, i'm not taking any of this lightly. But it's better to laugh on the face of death rather than submit to the fear it impose. Maybe your partner would agree. Don't you?"
The Keramon replied back on the remark made by human tamer, nonchalantly blurting out a reply that sounds unnerving in the every word he spoke. The distorted childish tone doesn't make it any better. But he didn't mean anything bad by it. He's just been through worse events that this might seem trivial to the cloaked Keramon.
Yes, even the smell is nothing for the Keramon. It's not like he have a good sense of smelling in this form, so he could smell the details. One good thing being a Digimon that belonged in malicious family, perhaps.
"And nope, i'm fine. I just had my stomach filled hours ago, and i think i can go all day. Let's get down to the business."
Higgs shrugged off his shoulders, preferring to go straight to the action. The sooner this shenanigans over, the better, right? No one likes the smell, especially the unpleasant smell of train delays.
Should the party walk further, Higgs instinctively trying to be cautious around him. This scenery is awfully familiar, reminding him of the slums of Dark Area, where most of the weak lives by consensus to not bother each other to survive.
"I don't want to sound troublesome, but i think you guys should be prepared for any ambushes. I mean, we're in sewer, and place like this smells like some wild Digimons could attack just because you walked in their sanctuary. It happened so many times in my old hometown."
While he sound confident at a glance, all of the party should've sensed the hint of Higgs being overly cautious over this situation.

"Diving kit," Freddie answered to Alan's comment about gas mask. "Should pretty much works the same anyway. Anyway, uh, over here."
Freddie guided them to a section that's darker than the rest. Probably one that headed directly to the sewers. There, a Gazimon pretty much tapping his foot in annoyance as he looked at his wristwatch. He looked haggard compared to most Gazimon, and there are some muscles on his body that signified he probably worked a lot in heavy stuff. When he looked at the entrance and noticed Freddie, he grunted.
"What's this? Does the boss gave up finally?" he harshly asked.
"No, backups. Those that you asked."
The Gazimon looked at the team up and down. "...Hrmh. Fine. Have it your way. I need to know what's happening down there anyway. You gonna keep watch here?"
"Yeah, I'll hold the entrance for you guys. Anyway, uh, I'm sorry that he doesn't introduce himself, but this guy is called Ziggy. He's strong for his level. I have told you the situation. He's rough but he means well. If he's too rude, please tolerate it because he really just want to help his father."
"Enough talk. Let's go on ahead!"
The Gazimon, Ziggy, took a pickaxe and shoved a shovel to Higgs and a hammer to Levi. "There might be some chance that we can't evolve while being under there. Being armed is better than none at all. Wear these hats over here and those coats. If you got EV Suits, wear them. Not sure if they works like Hazmat, but I'd rather not risk anything.
Freddie here going to be our operator. If there are any of you that can whisper or something clearly, I'll leave the communicator to either of you. Preferrably the human if you can. Anyway... any questions!?"

Thankfully, Alan didn't seem to be put off at all by Higgs or his demeanor, even blowing air softly out of his nose at his remark. "Well, naturally I agree with that. I only speak in consideration of others, who... might not agree. When it comes to Levi and me, a job like this isn't even fun if we don't take it seriously - giving it our all, you know."
"So thanks for the words of caution!" said Levi. "We'll be careful for sure!"
"Say, Higgs. If you don't mind me asking, what was your hometown?"
"The diving kit? We've never used it before, so learning that it can serve this purpose is very convenient." Alan and Levi strapped the masks to their faces as necessary upon reaching the entry to the sewer, leaving space for themselves to be able to communicate through speaking. They also didn't really mind the Gazimon's apparent rudeness, assuming that this person had a right to be impatient, (and, in fact, he did.) They would both equip themselves exactly as instructed, putting the hats and coats on, and with Alan turning on his EV Suit, increasingly glad he had already bought so many of the gadgets from the Mall. A devious grin formed across Levi's maw when he was handed a hammer. "Time to channel my inner Gumdramon! You heard the mon, Alan: you get the communicator."
"Got it. No further questions on our part. Ziggy here is eager to get started, and anything else I would want to know can only be answered by forging ahead."
