In the Northern Prominence, there wasn't really such thing as a warm summer's day.
Certainly, with the changing of the seasons, there were some days that were warmer than others, or some days that were colder; but no matter the season, there was always cold, and there was always snow. And during the winter, this cold and snow would only increase in quantity; leading to many digimon going into hibernation, or otherwise hunkering down in their homes, to weather the worst of these cold days.
Thankfully for Ys, the barrier that surrounded the city would provide a relative respite from the cold and snow. Indeed, it was still chillier than usual outside, but it was far more bearable - especially for those who weren't made for the cold...
... Such as a certain little Dorumon, by the name of Persephone.
"Hmhmhm...." She'd hum softly to herself, wrapped up in a shawl and blankets; the hum drowned out only by the whirring of her sewing machine. A thermos of hot tea sat on an adjacent stool, and her D-Nexus - sat next to it - would be playing simple Christmas tunes. Stacked up in a tote on the opposite side from her, would be squares of cloth; squares that were being sewed together one by one, into a single large piece.
However, for the time being, Persephone wasn't alone. On the bed, would be seated Baldur; a round tin of cookies on the Hawkmon's lap, as they munched down on them. "Mmm...!" They'd hum in approval as they munched down a pretzel-shaped cookie; smiling widely. "Picking these up was a wonderful idea, if I do say so; now I get to know what these tins are full of, when you aren't filling them with sewing supplies!"
The comment would make Persephone laugh a little, the Dorumon glancing back in their direction. "They're pretty, and were hard for me to get my hands on them for everyone. It'd be a shame if I just threw them out once they were empty." She'd respond, smiling a bit. "Human sweets are a nice treat every once in awhile, though; especially with this time of year.." Imported goods tended to pick up during Christmas; there were plenty of digimon who wanted in on the holiday spirit, without wanting to risk being revealed in the Human World.
"Can't argue with that!" Baldur nodded; munching down on another cookie. As they glanced over at Persephone's handiwork, though... They couldn't help but tilt their head a bit, curious. "Whatcha making there, by the way, Perry? It looks like you're just stitching a bunch of squares together, no offense."
The question would elicit another chuckle; Persephone smiling a bit sheepishly. "I kind of am, in a way. Remember when I asked you to pick out some nice quality cloth?"
"Mhmm, I think I remember that; couple weeks back, right?" Baldur questioned, nodding in understanding.
"Yep; I actually asked for everyone - all my siblings, and even some of the people here that are close to Dad and Papa - to pick out whatever sorts of cloth they liked and bring them here." Persephone explained, glancing down at her handiwork. "I was thinking that... Maybe we could all surprise Dad and Papa with a nice big gift, together; a big warm quilt!"
A quilt? Baldur would perk up a bit in recognition and understanding, before smiling brightly. "Well, that sounds like quite the wonderful gift! I'm sure Hikaru and Owen will love it," They'd gesture widely with a wing at the encouragement, before briefly squawking - "Ahck!" - as they had to scramble to catch the cookie tin, as it nearly slipped off their lap with the motion!
Persephone blinked, before laughing harder; unable to help her amusement at Baldur's tendency for antics, even unintentional antics. Baldur, too, couldn't help a laugh of their own once the tin was safely placed on the nightstand - seeing the humor in it all, as well.
Once they had both began to calm down, though... "... I certainly hope so," She'd agree with Baldur, slowly nodding back as she turned her attention back to the work-in-progress quilt. "I wanted to find a way for all of us, to express our appreciation to Dad and Papa together; and I thought that something that we all could add onto, in some way, would be nice."
"All the more sentimentality, I'd say," Baldur mused, nodding.
"Definitely." Persephone agreed, reaching down to the tote for another square of cloth, to add onto the ever-expanding pattern of the quilt. Once this was all done, she'd present this to Dad and Papa with the rest of her siblings...
.. And she could scarcely wait, to see just what the both of them would think of it all.

Twas the most wonderful time of the year… Christmas! A holiday that didn’t have as much significance in Japan - where Christians made up approximately one percent of the total population - as it did in Western countries, but was celebrated nonetheless as a day for friends and couples to exchange presents with each other. “Ah, I see! The power of consumerism- I mean, goodwill and love for one’s fellow man breaks even the barriers of religion.” Jokermon commented earlier that week in quite the jolly mood. Christmas in the Himura household didn’t have much fanfare. There was a small tree adorned with festive decorations in the living room, but no stockings on the fireplace for good ol’ Saint Nicholas, and no enormous buckets of KFC on the dinner table - another sacred Japanese custom around this time of year. The highlight of that special day was what Yuko’s mother called the ‘Himura Cake-Baking Spectacular’, an annual event of sorts where the whole family came together to make the biggest, meanest cake Nippon had ever seen… usually leaving the kitchen a total mess by the end of it all. “And since Jokah-san is a member of the family too, he gets to help me out this year~” Hana happily declared, wrapping her arm around the jester-like Digimon’s own. “What are you talking about, woman?! I’m a Demon KING! I don’t cook, I have others do it for me!” Jokermon protested, acting as if he was royally offended at the mere implication that he would have to cook like a common plebeian. “Don’t be so shy. Anyone can cook if they put their heart into it!” Hana insisted. “Yuko, help meeee!!” The demonic clown cried, as he was dragged into the kitchen against his will. “Sorry, dude, you’re on your own.” Yuko replied, as she put on a pair of boots and a coat to brace the cold weather outside. “Okay, I’m ready. See you tomorrow, Mom, merry Christmas!”“Merry Christmas, honey, take care! Oh, and say hi to Mika-kun for me!” Hana waved at her beloved daughter as the latter left the house. As the older Himura gathered the necessary materials for baking their cake and left them at the kitchen table, she took a moment to stare outside the window with a somewhat wistful expression. “She looks so happy these days, doesn’t she?” She mused. “Who, Yuko? I suppose so…” Jokah mused back, looking at each ingredient as if he was seeing them for the first time. “The last few Christmases, we didn’t get to feel like we were a family. Yori… my husband… he used to help with the frosting every year. He was surprisingly good at it too. Then we lost him, and every holiday became a day of mourning instead… But now, my little girl has friends, she’s smiling again, and I know you played a big role in that too, so… thank you.” Hana said, walking up to the self-proclaimed Demon King and kissing his cheek in gratitude. A flame lit up in Jokermon’s single visible eye, as he suddenly felt pumped and motivated beyond belief. “Oooh, now I’m really feeling it! Fetch me that flour, woman! I shall bake a cake so spectacular, Baby Jesus himself will come down from the heavens and ask for a slice!”Hana chuckled softly at that. “Fufu, I can’t wait. Let us begin then…” Meanwhile, Yuko was headed for the lavish estate of one Mikazuki Nakamura, holding a small present box in her hand. What gift did one even give to a guy whose parents could basically buy him anything? Something money couldn’t buy, of course. In this case, it was a framed picture of Yuko, Mika and Junpei looking at last New Year’s fireworks with smiles on their faces. It was a sentimental gift that the Nakamura heir was sure to appreciate, but more importantly Yuko didn’t want him to spend the holidays alone, especially since she’d heard that his parents would be working all night. So, the delinquent girl rang the doorbell, was let in by a butler, and when she spotted the unmistakable, gigantic figure of Mikazuki in the distance, she immediately ran up to him. Her heart skipped a beat and her cheeks flushed a faint shade of pink, as she outstretched her arms and offered him her humble, but honest present. “Merry Christmas, Mika…”

This was the first time Amelie spent Christmas with a family that wasn't her own. Interesting, considering it was her second year in Tokyo, but... she'd rather not recount how her first year's Christmas had been.
Kinda unreal, huh? How from one year to the next, things had taken such a dramatic turn. And, in all honesty? She couldn't be more happy about the development; well, she technically could, but that implied that a certain female redhead stopped hating her guts. Sadly, Amy thought that not even a Christmas miracle would be able to accomplish that.
"Thanks for letting me come with you, Mom!" As the brunette made sure that she looked her absolute best for such an occasion, a holosuited digimon sat in the bed behind her, pretty much bouncing with unbridled excitement. Both humans knew that bringing her to the family gathering could be very risky, but... Asher had been surprisingly okay with that. Talk about carefree!
"What did we talk about, Loire?" That comment was uttered while one of Amelie's hands went towards a brush. It wouldn't take long for her to be ready.
"You're no fun, M-Amy. Why can't I call aunt Piper, Grandpa, and Grandmom by their names?"
Firstly, because everyone except maybe Holly would probably have a heart attack on the spot, which was maybe an acceptable thing in Piper's case. And secondly, because those weren't really their names. But that was a detail, right?
"We've talked about this already. The condition for you to go to his house on Christmas was for you to behave. You don't want to let him down, do you?"
The smaller brunette shook her head fiercely. "I'll make D-Asher proud, I promise!"
"Attagirl."
Sometimes, the fact that the digimon loved her 'father' so much that letting down or making him proud could be used as a bargaining chip in order to get her to behave was amusing to Amy. On others... she kinda wished that she appreciated the 'parent' that hung out with her most of the time a little more! But that wasn't something to be discussed at the moment.
It took Amy five or so more minutes before she was done with the finishing touches of her attire and appearance, and soon enough, both females began to make their way outside the apartment, even though not before getting the bag where everyone's presents were!
Luckily, the trip towards the Callum residence would proceed without many issues, and soon, the two girls would find themselves next to its threshold. The only thing left was for Amy to ring the doorbell.
Yet... she was seemingly hesitating. Considering it was just the last step to take, it should be easy, right? Not very, apparently.
"Amy?" Loire spoke somewhat softly. Had she realized what was the situation? "Everything will go well. I promised you already, didn't I?" A genuine smile and a hug directed at the taller female's waist followed suit.
"Yeah... you're right." That was way more reassurance than needed! The button was pressed immediately afterward.
A smile slowly began to take over Amy's features. Unwittingly, she had discovered two things about Loire in those instants; that being sharp ran in the family and... that she couldn't really complain about not being loved by her.
Perhaps one of the best presents she could get for this ocassion.

A Unusual Family Holiday:
Shino was not one to enjoy the holidays that much. For her, with the loss of her parents, and the time in foster care, the holidays were a disappointment to her. Any thoughts of miracles, santa were easily gone long before she was at the age to even have those things out. Though it had been the holidays when she first came to live with Sojiro, her uncle, it was a strain to celebrate the holidays with a single relative. For the most part, Shino had no desire to really celebrate or do anything insane. For her it was another day, another stretch to a better future than the crap sh had been dealt with.
The company of her Digimon wasn't anything different. She was there that morning of Christmas Even, in her room tapping away on her computer. Vector was snoozing away, dreaming up god-knows what while hugging his riffle as if it was a stuffed bear. However, the approache of the door made Shino react.
"Vector!" She warned,
Vector jolted awake, clinging to his rifle. "What? The gingerbread march invading?" He said, still half in his 'dreams'.
Not bothering to explain to the sounds of footsteps towards her door, Shino pushed her rolling chair over, grabbed the covers and threw them messily over Vector, covering him.
As she pushed back to her desk, the door knocked and in came Sojiro, the older man showing in as Shino turned to him. "Shino?" He asked, "You got a minute?"
"S-Sure, Sojiro. What's up?" she asked, trying to calm herself.
Sojiro walked in, though it made Shino nervous if Commandramon would move, making for an awkward explanation why there was a dino there. She tried to keep calm and listen. "I been thinking... I know we both had our... reservations during the holidays. But I think its time we try to really do something nice. We been together for over a year and I know this is hard for you, but why don't we try to go out and make a nice Christmas Celebration this year. It doesn't have to be anything big, but it would probably be something to help make you feel... at home?"
This was a surprise to Shino. Normally for the first time she lived there, she was more likely a recluse, but that time had passed. She was different now, stronger-- and needed to be more willing to allow her guardian to show he cared. As far as she knew, he was the only relative she had left and one who wanted to help raise her.
Though she was one who would rather dive head first into coding rather than have a Christmas Cake, she turned and smiled to her uncle. "That sounds great, Uncle Sojiro. I'm on board for it." she said.
He smiled. "Great. Why don't we go out now and get some shopping done. We will need more than just take out and microwave meals." he added.
"Why don't we start with your famous Currey you're so good at." she replied with a smile.
"Heh, Deal." he said, "Get your shoes and jacket in five minutes okay?"
"Sure, I need to finish up things here," Shino replied.
As Sojiro left, and she heard him disappear, she rolled over to the bed and lifted the covers away. Typical to find Vector, once again fast asleep napping. "Sugerplumbs..." he snored, clearlying having holiday dreams.
Shino rolled her eyes and got ready to join her uncle.

Post by Governor on Jan 5, 2020 6:29:17 GMT
Far, far north of the world, further north than one would think any being would bother to visit, a single being was in fact, there, gently paddling his way across the frigid ocean. Governor the Parvamon was not exactly immune to the cold, but he was quite resistant - and, the water was his element, invigorating him enough that the cold mattered even less. Everyone was celebrating Christmas some way. For Governor, he just wanted to take a break, to spend some time alone. Thus, three month or so ago, he had jumped into the ocean, and began swimming north. He kept doing so, for hours a day, sometimes throughout the entire day. He caught food fresh when he needed to, and let the currents carry him when he needed some sleep or rest. Eventually, about two weeks ago, he had reached these desolate, frigid waters, where he could finally find some solace. There were no human nor Digimon here, and the animals mostly ignored him. It does make sense after all - beasts are simple-minded creatures, that would surely avoid something unknown like him. Governor snickered a little bit on the inside. Well, that was the only way he could snicker actually, given that he could not speak. Unlike other mutes, it was programmed into him the lack of any voice modulator, at all, so he had absolutely no ability to make sounds from his mouth. Well no, that was not entirely true. But, for the sake of practicality, yes, yes it is. Sigh. Governor let out a breath, emptying his lungs to reduce his buoyancy. Almost immediately, he began to sink into the water, letting it cover him fully. It was an amazing feeling, letting the ocean swallow him. Governor let go of all control, letting the ocean take him where it may. Right here, the undercurrents were almost non-existent, and Governor ended up just slowly descending, further and further into the pitch black nothingness of the arctics. Governor watched as the sunlight penetrating the ocean grew fainter and fainter, until it was almost non-existent. This was the scariest part - the shift to perfect nothingness, where he could not tell one direction from another. Governor, out of nowhere, spun his body - first to the left, then to the right. Forwards, backwards, and in all manners of directions. He was just thrusting his body round and round. Then just as suddenly, he stopped in his tracks, and immediately began to try and determine his orientation. The spinning had completely lost him the ability to tell up from down, and the pitch blackness made it impossible to tell from the surroundings. Governor loved this feeling. He let the sensations in his body reorient themselves, until finally, he felt it. He was upside-down. Whoops. How fun though. Governor re-oriented himself before he could dizzy himself, and smiled. How did such simplicities of life be so much fun? Perhaps it is because of the nature of his being. Governor was born for war, born to protect, born to uphold the law. But that was what he was born to do, not what he found to be entertaining. What was… were the more simple things in life. That was why for this Christmas day, he was here. Soon though, unfortunately, he would have to return to his normal life. For now though, he would continue to enjoy himself.

It was Christmas Eve! But, this wouldn’t be just any old Christmas. This would be Chinatsu Sugisatta’s first official Christmas as a Chosen Child. Chosen Young Adult? Chosen Person? Whatever! Point was, her whole life had turned around for the better, finding out about the existence of wondrous creatures called Digimon and being given a strange device that allowed her to transform into one such creature. It was a ceaseless adventure filled with exciting twists and turns in every corner, and so far China was having the time of her life! Naturally, there was plenty to celebrate about beside the Messiah’s holy birth this year. Yet, she hadn’t forgotten her job as a MeTuber either, which was to provide quality gaming-related content and spread smiles the world over! And she had chosen tonight to test out the newest machination of her groundbreaking mind: Digimon-themed live streaming! Obviously, publishing Digimon-related content on MeTube was a big no-no, unless she wanted a SWAT team to break down her door. Her end goal was to be endorsed by a company based in the Digital World, which would allow her to broadcast special content made for Digimon and Chosen Ones only. Until she could get that endorsement, she would make do using Tamernet as her broadcasting platform, where viewership was much lower. Thus, after using a baby wipe to clean her fingers that had gotten all greasy from eating a whole bucket of KFC on her lonesome, and after double-checking her recording equipment to make sure that everything was in place and working properly, the wheelchair-bound MeTuber put on her headset and got her face cam rolling (pun only halfway intended). “What’s good, Tamernet! Tokyo-drifting into your screen, it’s your gal, HotWheels! Skr skr! And this will be my first Digimon-themed live stream for Digimon and people who know about the Digital World only. No normies allowed! In the spirit of the holidays, we’re gonna be playing an indie game called ‘Santa Agumon’s Xmas Adventure’. It’s a game apparently made by a Chosen One who also happens to be a programmer, aaaand that’s all I know. Pinky swear! The guy who sent me this Rom wanted to remain anonymous. And yeah, I’m playing this on an emulator, since there’s no official, legal release for obvious reasons. Don’t forget to donate bits by using that flashy donation button on the bottom of your screen. Donating any amount lets you use our special emojis on the chat. And if you donate 1,000 bits or more, you also get to have a voice call with me live on stream! Without further ado… everyone ready? Let’s get started!”And so, Chinatsu booted up the game. Soon, the highly pixelated sprite of an Agumon wearing a Santa hat flashed on the screen, running on what looked like a snowy field, performing death-defying leaps over treacherous pits, and jumping on various Christmas-themed enemies, such as living snowmen, walking gingerbread men and spring-jumping Christmas trees. A retro-style 2D platformer with a simple control scheme, but a high difficulty setting. This would be a long holy night…

In a cold, desolate land far, far north, where snow fell year-round, there sits a small, quaint wooden cabin. This cabin, was home to Wisconsin, a Digimon that was shunned by the world. Which was why a long time ago, after wandering the world, she had decided to finally accept the truth, and settle down where no one could hurt her. Here, away from the hatred and ostracization, she was happy. Today was Christmas Eve, and she was dancing around the house to a tune from the radio, though where it got its signals from, no one could say.
While outside of her cabin, the wind howled and the snow buffeted the little house, inside was quite a different scene. Wisconsin had set up the fireplace, which constantly filled the interior of the house with warmth. Next to the fireplace sat a little table and a lounge chair. A hot cup of coffee sat on the table, steam still rising from it.
A single Christmas tree adorned the center of the house, rising so high that with the star adorned on top, it touched the very ceiling of the house itself. No presents were under the tree unfortunately, for she forgot to get some for herself. Around the house were adorned other Christmas decorations, from stockings over the fireplace, to little elven figurines, depicting scenes of toy-making for Santa Claus. Snowmen, little miniature Christmas trees, and other Christmas/winter-related decoratives filled the remaining spaces.
There was no bed in this house. She did not need one, not with the comfy chair next to the fireplace that she often laid in.
Right now, the music was shifting to a slow ballad, and Wisconsin shifted her dancing with it. Slow, but deliberate movements she made, adding a few spins here and there as the song dictated it. Round and round the Christmas tree she danced, slowly and deliberately. Then, the next song played, and it was now a faster, more joyful one. So she picked up her pace, though always making sure to keep her moves deliberate. That was one of the most important aspect of most dance styles - regardless of what you do, you had to look like you were doing more than just going through the motions.
On and on she danced, on and on to the tunes that she set, until late into the morning when the radio finally gave in for the night, and Wisconsin flopped onto the lounge chair, exhausted.
In her awkward flopped downness, she watched the flames from the fireplace, entranced by its flickering lights as it slowly died down. She contemplated adding more firewood, but was just too exhausted. So she just kept staring at it.
Until suddenly, she woke up, and morning light was shining into her cabin. The fire had completely died down, not even smoldering. Wisconsin had fallen asleep without even realizing it.
Slowly, she got up from the chair, yawned and stretched, and walked over to the fireplace. Her body was aching from her awkward sleeping position, but otherwise she felt absolutely refreshed. Wisconsin tossed firewood into the fireplace, then pressed a button next to the fireplace to electronically stoke the fire. This wasn't 1900 anymore, there were automatic lighters one can inbuild into the fireplace.
Once she got the fire going, she got up, turned around, and was surprised to see a present under the tree. A present in bright red wrapping with green ribbons.
Odd.
She went over and tore the present open. Her face lit up in delight when she saw what was inside, a red and green scarf.
Happily, she put it on, checked herself in the mirror, and, when ready… well, it was time.
She gave the house one last look, before opening the door and leaving it, not to return for a very long time...
