Mission Description"Sheesh... this should really just be that damn Wizardmon's problem..."
Fragment Village. To many, this was the last bastion of common sense and sanity before trudging off into the true terror of the Dark Area. With all of the bizarre landscapes, untold horror, and truly hostile environments, one might question how such a stable settlement existed out here. Of course, the answer came with the locals: skilled apothecaries manned the shops, brutish mercenaries frequented the bar, and even those relatively down on their luck could handle their own in a scrap. Ordinarily, outside help wouldn't have ever been called out to this place.
But for dealing with the D-Reaper, there was a definite sense of 'better them than us'. Very few around here wanted to deal with it other than through the most routine methods, and as this nest was starting to look crazy, very few around here wanted to deal with it. This left a half-annoyed Wicked, the black-garbed Witchmon idly resting against her broom as she waited just outside the city, her spectral cat idly sitting right atop the handle.
"Mm... I know, fluffy." She reached a hand up, scratching the ghost under the chin. "But you know how it is. 'Mons are down on their luck and they try to find the answer anywhere. Really, they just picked the wrong set of dice to roll."
... Was she talking to herself, or was the ghost cat a different entity? Maybe she was just trying to kill time.
"But hopefully we aren't just hiring some goodie-two-shoes. The idiots already out there are probably beyond saving. Tch..."

The Dark Area wasn't Desmond's favorite place but it is where he and his partner were right now. Having found a letter from a certain Witchmon named Wicked, the blond tamer decided that he would take that letter very seriously and offer his help. From what he knew, people don't mention the D-Reaper for just fun and while that was pretty much all he really knew about that, he felt that this course of action was the right thing to do. He arrived early in the Fragment Village with Demi in his fireball form. Both of them were walking at a slow pace while eyeing the various Digimons around them, each one looking shadier than the other. For some reason, Desmond felt that no one would question them being here at all. They certainly didn't look like the stranger people around.
Not wanting to ask questions or get more attention than needed, the Frenchman and Digimon looked around on their own for a few minutes before ultimately going to ask if anyone knew something about the Digimon that goes as Wicked. It didn't take long for them to get the answer they needed and off they go toward the outer limits of the village. As they went outside, they spotted a Witchmon dressed in black who was leaning on her broom with a spectral cat. Well, that must be Wicked. The blond tamer looked at his partner who was being very quiet so far. "Are you alright, Demi?" He asked with a bit of concern. The fireball nodded and smiled shyly. The two exchanged a moment of silence before walking toward the Witchmon.
"Excuse us." He said softly as they got closer. "We are looking for a certain, Wicked?" Desmond paused for a moment to see if she was indeed the one they were looking for. "I'm Desmond, this is Demi." The Frenchman softly waved at Wicked and Demi almost went for a hug but decided to not do it. "We found a letter asking for help." Pausing again to make sure that they were talking to the right person, the tamer would look at Demi who looked at him with big eyes. The fireball then nodded with a more serious expression. "We're here to help." The human then said before turning his eyes to Wicked.
"The task is to destroy the D-Reaper's nest, is that right?" He asked without smiling or anything. "I'm guessing that we are not the only that got that letter." Upon hearing this Demi began looking around them for anyone else besides them but Desmond did not. The tamer just kept looking at the Witch Digimon hoping that she would give them more information about that task.

The dark area.
The very name sent shivers down the spine of many, it was a horrid place. Filled with death and dangers unknown to many. The long swaths of dead trees, broken plains and as of late? The D-reapers. A plague of sorts that had been introduced to the digital world at some time or another. The fact that it had been the dark area to fall to this plague first was both a blessing and a curse.
A blessing in that it could only spread so far.
But those that made their home in the dark area would suffer and with that suffering what were they to do? She felt her blood boil in rage with feeling eyes turn away from the job posting; mumbles and smatterings about the fact that the locale wasn’t worth it. She had signed up without a second thought, surprising all those around her.
But there was another reason.
This ache. This itch. This painful sensation in her chest that demanded blood. An age old scar she didn’t know anything about and the driving force at some sort of payback for one before her. She didn’t waste time, she didn’t even really think about it too hard. Sure she had to do a little reading to understand what they were fighting; but there was so little information that she didn’t even get to understand half of the problem.
She took her ship to the dark area, pushing it to the very limit of it’s capabilities. She wasn’t rushing no, but she knew that the longer she took the worse it could get. She just had this feeling. She had put Lux under the care of a babysitter that would if things got bad send him to mikemon.
She’d land outside of fragment village in a clearing where her ship wouldn’t disturb too many, though it would announce her arrival in style. The ship’s wings folded and the shutmon walked down the ramp, fixing her gauntlet and letting the blades swing about in a testing motion. She’d turn to the ship, hold up a remote and click it; letting the ship warp and turn into data before being sucked into the device.
It didn’t take her long to catch up to where Desmond was, many of the individuals in the village would avoid her. But that was fine. She didn’t care all too much, she bore those strange looks. Those shy movements as they saw the shutmon walk with pride. The gentle clinking of her armor as she approached would be the first thing to give her off. The second would of course be a bit of laughter.
”I take it you’re Wicked? And you two must be…. Desmond and Demi? I saw your names on the posting. Lookin’ forward to working with yah.”
The shutmon extended a hand to desmond for a firm handshake and if allowed would lean to inspect demi. After all he was the first of his kind that she had ever seen so she was of course very curious.
”Can’t say I’ve seen a mon made out of fire before; you burn bright yeah?”
The shutmon gave Demi a small wink and stood up straight, putting her hands on her hips while looking to wicked. There was an air of familiarity in wicked, one she couldn’t explain. Much like the familiarity and the itch she got on her chest.
”Silence at your service. Heard a bit about what’s what but not the full monty. What are we lookin at?”

Another day, another incursion into the Dark Area. For the tamer Carlos and his two partners such things were pretty much common place, to the point their last visit to the desolate wasteland had been around a couple weeks ago at most, if not less than that. And much like that last time this one also related to the D-Reaper. Perhaps wanting to be of a bit more help for the Dark Area than they had been on their last escapade, or maybe they just felt it was their responsability since they had faced against a D-reaper related threat twice now, whatever the case they practically jumped at the opportunity and signed up along for the ride without much thought.
Granted, at least the twins had, Carlos had been practically dragged into it by them, but he wasn't going to let the two of them dive into danger unsupervised. Now that was his responsability.
A couple of hours of travelling later they parked their armored van some distance away from the village (this time being sure to check the roof for any possible stowaway threats) and made their way around the settlement. It didn't take long for them to notice the black wearing Witchmon meeting up with a human, a Shutmon and what seemed to be a living ball of fire. Clearly they were at the right spot, and as per usual they weren't the first to arrive either. It was only once they got closer that they recognized two of those individuals.
"Hey, we came for the D-Reaper job too, sorry we're late." The man greeted as he approached the group, first nodding at the other man wearing glasses and his partner. "Name's Carlos, these two are Dio and Gio." He smiled as he extended a hand for Desmond for a handshake, nodding at the Impmon and Blackguilmon following closely behind him.
"Long time no see, Silence." The imp tersely greeted the white Shutmon with a nod, still someone unsure on how...formally(?) he should be greeting her of all people, before turning to the Witchmon for a moment. "And...Wicked, was it? I think we already met before, have we not?"
"Hi Silence!" Gio chirped, far more relaxed as he lightly nuzzled his head against the Shutmon's side.

"Hm?"
Ah, her first visitor - this one, the Witchmon could see coming from a mile away. After all, it wasn't hard to see a light in the dark, and the DemiMeramon stood out like a single candle in a dark room. Wicked made herself slightly more presentable - now sitting on her floating broom, instead of slumping against it like a glorified walking stick - and nodded in response to the tamer.
"Mhm. That's the long-and-short of it, anyways. I hope your partner there's at least as fierce as he is cute." She'd chuckle, and blink as the second participant came forth. Again, she wasn't hard to see, the white fur of the Shutmon easily standing out against the background. She'd nod, gently taking that larger hand for a shake of her own.
And this one's a bit of a bruiser... somewhat familiar? Eh, probably not. Shaking her hand out, the Witchmon would smile. "Well, get used to each-other while you can. You're all going to be jumping into quite a mess in just a little bit. Speaking of, here comes my one set of repeats."
Mostly repeats, anyway. She would have remembered Carlos badly bleached white hair anywhere, and the Impmon was still stuck half-between awkwardness and snark. But now there was a Guilmon added to the bunch, and... well, Gio didn't seem to have any tensity for the situation at all!
"Of course, how could I forget this Imp?" The Witchmon casually rolled her eyes, returning a nod to Carlos. "Jokes aside, good to have you 'round again. Hopefully this won't be as harsh as that Meicoomon incident."
And now that everyone was gathered? The Witchmon would slip off of her broom, stretching her back out as her cat would slip up and rest in her hat. "Well, before we get started with anything... Carlos and... Desmond, was it? Let me see your Digivices for a second." All she would need was to see the front plates: she'd hold out her palm, a pulse of light radiating over them as she'd explain: "D-Reaper agents don't normally show up well on the devices - but this way, you'll actually be able to scan what they can do. And I suppose I should go over a few things about how the D-Reaper works before I get into the more complicated parts of it."
Her tone sounded tired, the Witchmon racking her head. "Let's see... by definition, all the D-Reaper is, is a program that removes corrupt data from the Digital World. But, left alone, it grows into something like a tumor, and creates a 'nest' from which it further creates 'agents'. There's several types, but anything that's purely the D-Reaper follows a few specific rules."
"One, unless provoked - either by attacking it or invading its territory - it will never attack a rookie level Digimon, and it also seems to ignore most champions.
Two, most agents have a red cable connecting them to the nest. Agents have amazing regenerative capabilities, but destroying the cable prevents that - and prevents the agent from acting further.
Three. Despite appearances, the D-Reaper agents aren't technically 'independently' alive - more like 'bees' to a nest, if you want a human-level allegory. They aren't generally programmed to retreat, so when we say destroy, we mean destroy."
There was likely more to it than that, and the Witchmon would likely field some questions - but honestly? "As I've said, if it was just that 'red menace' then you six wouldn't even be here. The D-Reaper's terrifying, but what's worse is when someone gets it in their head that the D-Reaper's a good thing... and that, unfortunately, is what we're dealing with today." She sighed, a small smile on her face as she shrugged and shook her head.
"And all those rules I said go half-out the window when we're dealing with someone infected by the D-Reaper. In addition to the nest itself, we have who-knows-how-many Digimon who thought it would be a good idea to devote themselves to a plague. I can't really give a good idea of what these... mm... I guess we'll go with 'amalgates' would be capable of. Either way, we need the whole place scrubbed out. Alright, I manage to scare any of you off, yet?"

Desmond looked at Silence and firmly shook hands with her after a short second. "Nice to meet you." He simply said as Demi began looking up at the Shutmon with wide eyes. He never saw a Digimon like her before and he was quite curious as she leaned to take a better look at him. When she asked if he burns bright, the fireball nodded a few times and smiled broadly. "Yes!" He said out loud before making himself as little as possible for a moment before extending his arms out and his body began glowing brighter. "Ta-dah!" His tamer didn't react at first but a small smile could be seen for a second or two. He knew that they had to be serious but it was rather hard to not smile when his partner does cute things like that. The DemiMeramon would keep his body of flames glowing as a man with white hair and two Digimon came toward them.
"Nice to meet you too, Carlos." The blond tamer went to shake his hand while Demi took a closer look at the Impmon. He stayed silent for a moment just looking at Dio with his head tilted slightly on the right. "Hi!" He shouted a bit too loud. "I'm Demi!" He went forward to hug him but stopped midway and backed a bit. He then turned his attention to Gio who seemed to be a bit friendlier than the Impmon. So he decided to hug this one instead. He carefully inched closer so that the Blackguilmon wouldn't be surprised. When Demi would be side by side, he poked the black Digimon and waited for him to look at him before giving a huge hug. "Hi!" He shouted again.
As Wicked asked them to show her their Digivices, Desmond took out his and extended his arm for her to do something that he did not understand right away. She told them that it would help them scan and detect the D-Reapers. That was going to be handy. Taking a moment to look at the screen of his little device, the Frenchman nodded and placed it back into his pocket. "Thanks." Desmond would then listen carefully to the Witchmon's briefing and advice. As usual, Demi was too busy hugging to listen to Wicked so he only heard half of what she said.
"So find and destroy every bit of the D-Reapers." The blond tamer repeated after Wicked. Unfortunately, it seemed that it would be more complicated than that judging from her tone. And she wouldn't have asked help from them if it was going to be an easy job anyway. The human quickly looked at Carlos and then his partners before turning his attention to Silence. By then, Demi was now out of the hugging position. The little fireball could feel that his tamer was in a very serious mindset right now. "I don't think that we are scared." He simply said, speaking for all six of them. "I would rather say that we are more ready than scared."
"So, where do we begin? Any clues on where the Nest could be at?" Desmond was hoping that one of them would take the role of the leader without him asking. While not scared, he knew that he was new to the Dark Area so if one of them knew the place better than he does, it would be a good way to start.

”Likewise! And a bright one! I like that!”
Silence gave Demi and Desmond a toothy grin, she felt no need to really hide her personality or even remain somewhat aloof. People should wear some emotions on their sleeves and this was one of the times that being cheerful or peppy would probably help a little bit! Her expression brightened considerably as the trio arrived and with the guilimon nuzzling against her side well… She’d pick up both gio and dio in a big bear hug!
”Gio! Dio! Long time no see! How’s my lil bro’s doing?”
Formalities didn’t seem to matter much to the shutmon and after a moment carlos would find himself on the receving end of a back breaking hug that if allowed he’d even get picked off of the ground like the others. Even though she was wearing armor thankfully she wouldn’t hug any of them hard enough to where that would be a problem!
”So we go in, we beat the ever living shit out of these fanatics and the D-reaper. The cables are a weak point… Hmm. Cutting so swords and slashing will be good. How’s Ice handle against them?”
The shutmon turned her head to the witchmon, eyeing her for a moment as the other continued to talk. They were dealing with infected fanatics, willingly subjecting themselves to the infection and serving under the D-reaper forces. The shutmon rubbed her chin thoughtfully and stared at one of her swords.
”Any idea what sort of mons these fanatics are, how dense the forces are and what sort of agents we could encounter? What’s the most effective way to deal with a reaper grouping, I’ve heard that you shouldn’t use higher level stuff against them unless it’s last resort worthy.”
The shutmon had done a little digging and found barely enough information to fill a pamphlet for some colleges. Lord knew it was frustrating and the shutmon felt like hiding behind the rookie level was going to lead to trouble… Especially if the fanatics were higher levels!
”...Odd thought. Can the nest move?”

The imp was visibly startled (and ever so slightly annoyed) at the rather loud Demi, but managed to keep a relatively calmed demeanor as he simply nodded in response to the fireball with a simple "Charmed." At the very least it seemed living with Gio had increased his tolerance to loud noises a fair bit. Needless to say, when the black scaled lizard turned to face the smaller digimon he would return the greeting with an equal amount of loud friendliness.
"Hi! I'm Gio, what's your name?" He asked, returning the hug without a second thought. It was nice to meet such a friendly digimon for a change! And speaking of friendly hugs, just after he let go of Demi he'd find himself being lifted from the ground and embraced by the Shutmon alongside his brother and Carlos.
"Hehe, we're good, we missed you a lot, right guys? And how are you big sis?" The guilmon replied with a hearty laugh and another hug in return. Dio meanwhile seemed to be completely taken aback and unable to react for the moment, though the sudden blush in his face said more than any word could. As for Carlos? He too was surprised for a moment, but soon couldn't help but return (or attempt to return) the hug with one arm, patting Silence's shoulder. There was something almost infectious about her carefree attitude that made her feel less like a friend, more like a distant relative like an aunt, or a godmother that only showed up for family reunions but was always happy to see you and bring gifts.
"Yeah, been a while, hasn't it?" The man said with a smile once she finally let them loose, though unfortunately this wasn't the moment to catch up, as they had to pay attention to what Wicked had to tell them about the mission.
"Hopefully there won't be Meicoomon this time period." The man joked, before showing his digivice as Wicked asked. Whatever she then did to the digivices would apparently let them scan D-Reaper related threats, something that had indeed not been possible for Carlos during his encounter with that infected Meicoomon.
After that he and the other two simply stood silently, taking in as much of the info from Wicked as they could. There were a bit of things he had already learned, but also quite a bit of new information, mostly related to these so called "Agents". Carlos had heard them mentioned in passing, but never seen one face to face...at least until today, it seemed.
"Well I don't know about scared per se, but it does sound like there's a lot more than what we were expecting." Carlos shrugged once Wicked was done, trying to seem calm and nonchalant despite being significantly more concerned about what they would face inside of that nest. Agents, infected cultists, a nest, all they needed now was a god with too many consonants in it's name and a stick in the mud detective and they were ready to recreate one of H.P. Lovecraft's horror stories.
Hopefully with less insanity.
Silence's ensuing questions seemed to jog Carlos' memory a bit, because he tried to answer at least one of her questions."Well, unless it somehow adapted since last time we fought one, I'm pretty sure D-Reaper and anything related to it generally hate cold temperatures, so having ice will probably be helpful." He said, before turning to Desmond and Demi with a reassuring smile. "And don't worry, it might have hated the cold but I'm pretty sure it's just as flammable as everyone here." His smile faded for a moment however, as he turned to look at Wicked again. "Right?"
As for his own questions most of the ones he had were already asked by both Silence and Desmond, so that only left one question he felt he should ask.
"I know they probably infected themselves willingly but...if we got rid of the nest first would that stop the cultists' infection at all?" He was no stranger to having to delete other digimon in self defense, but if possible he wanted to avoid any needless killing, even if it made things harder on himself later.

"Hm, direct, are we? Don't worry, we already know where the nest is."
The Witchmon would give a nod towards Desmond, before turning her attention to the Shutmon. "Hm... practically speaking, ice doesn't do much other than offer another 'blade' to use. Actually, fire is better at stopping the regeneration if you aren't able to get to the cable."
So, that was at least an advantage to everyone except the Shutmon! To Silence's next question, the sorceress gave a shrug: "I don't know, but it wouldn't need to. If the nest gets too big, it might just propagate other nests." At this point, the nest hadn't moved to a noticeable degree. As Carlos slipped in that last question, regarding stopping the cultist's infection, the sorceress shook her head.
"Remember the last time you worked with me? The Meicoomon was hyped up on D-Reaper data as it was - and she was nowhere near a nest. Once infected, it works off the core of the Digimon its infected, rather than the kernel. If it was that convenient, then there wouldn't be a market to getting that data cleaned out."
Point taken - but it was hardly something the rest of the group could follow! "Right, we're burning sunlight - what little of it we have - so let's at least get on the road. Follow me, and make sure you're able to see Fluffy up here." She tapped the top of her hat - the spectral kitten curling right around the base of it - as the Witchmon would sit on her broom and lead at a leisurely pace. Thankfully, this place had already been scouted a little beforehand. As they approached, the Witchmon would lead them through uneven, hilly terrain - and would take care to make sure that no-one walked up too high over the ground. Eventually, the ground turned from dirt to stone - and then charred earth - before it came right up to an abrupt ravine, a crack in the ground only about half a foot wide.
This 'half a foot' separated the normal ground they were standing on from the tainted ground right on the other side. Looking at just the next few feet, the ground would be covered in what looked like ancient roots, crimson vines seeping deep into the ground.
... But that might be the last thing the group was looking at. For just a few yards beyond that, they'd see the nest itself: a dense, red field that almost looked like red plaque, or the inside of a lava lamp. That expanse, unfortunately, covered a wide area - a little further than the eye could see, but it wasn't as if it stretched to the horizon. Like the ground around, it crested into peaks and valleys, an uneven growth strained across the land.
At the edges, they would only see one type of creature, their red cables dragging into the red mass below:
Searcher - ADR 002Observation Type Shares Eyesight with other ADR Agents Battle Capability Unknown
"Well, they're basically cameras."
The Witchmon spoke low, the group holed up under a rocky outcropping near the edge of the cliff. They were even able to get this close without any problems, but: "You see it as plain as I do. Near the center of this nest, you'll find a floating white sphere. Break that, and all of the agents and the red mass will disappear. Despite its appearance, the ground itself is rock solid - think of it more like an... um... 'plastic' than a liquid."
Well, if that was any comfort, anyway.
"The ball's in your courts, now."

Desmond stayed silent as everyone beside him started hugging each other. Not that he was not in the mood, it was good that they bound before the mission. Patiently waiting for the newly formed group of merry men to get ready, the blond tamer was already trying to figure what could go bad. Not that he knew a lot about those D-reapers but he was sure that it wasn't going to be easy in any form or shape. None the less, he had to keep a positive mind. He might have less experience than the others but he sure hoped that he would be the third wheel at worse.
After following Wicked into that rather bad terrain with Demi in his arms, Desmond was starting to feel the weight of responsibility of this mission. He took careful steps upon reaching the stone path. Well, it is the Digital World so he wasn't that surprised to see the path changing from one kind of material to the other without warning. Demi was comfortably on his tamer's arms and was still all smile. As they kept on walking, the vegetation also changed. This time, the Frenchman took a second to look behind them before nodding to himself and following the rest of the group.
And then, they saw something. It was a Searcher according to his Digivice. Well, now comes the first task. They would have to pass through them. Desmond began counting how many he could see. "Eight..." He whispered to himself. "I see eight of them." This time he said it in a normal tone while looking at Carlos and then Silence. "They don't seem to be grouped, I think that they are just..." He stopped mid-sentence as he remembered that Wicked said something about them having some kind of a hive mind. So they might need to get rid of all of them at the same time if they have indeed a way to communicate with each other.
"We need to lure them somewhere, all of them," Desmond said while still looking at the nest. "Let's hope that if we manage to get one distracted, then all of them would be distracted as well." And he paused to sigh and look around to see if there would be a place where they could use to draw attention. Maybe a dead-end of something. The other problem he thought of was that if it doesn't work, there might be a lot of reinforcement coming their way. If that happens, then they are going to either hide until they stop looking at them or if they would need to force their way through.
"I see two ways we can go." The blond tamer slowly said. "We can try to find a way to lure them away from that nest and cut their cables as fast as we can." Pausing for a second to make sure that what he just said made any sense. "Actually, I have no other plan." He admitted after thinking further. He sighed and took a few steps back and wait for the five others to propose their plan of action. If they have one, to begin with. "If any of you got a better plan now is the time to say it."

The answers that wicked gave weren’t lacking thankfully, though she was a touch worried that ice was just another blade that they could use. Fire was apparently better at stopping the regeneration which was hugely unfortunate as she didn’t currently have a form she could access that had fire as it’s primary way of combat. But maybe that alternate style would prove useful down the line?
Silence remained like her namesake for a few moments, rubbing at her chin. So once they were infected it worked off the host and not the kernal which meant that no matter what they did they’d need to wipe their slates clean. It would be difficult to fight one and not the other…
”We’ll have to sweep them then. Which makes this all the more dangerous right?”
Silence didn’t fully understand the sheer amount of danger that was in this type of combat and her expression, tone… heck even stance differed greatly from when K dealt with the red menace. The shutmon hummed a little bit as the group moved on… Mulling over the information and absorbing the answers like a sponge.
Once they were to that abrupt ravine silence understood what the other meant in an odd way. The strange ancient roots and their crimson vines seeping into the ground made her somewhat uncomfortable. This burning, twisting agitating feeling in her chest… She’d scratch at it with a grimace. Why did it feel like she had fought against these before? Maybe not this exact thing but…
The icy blue eyes of the shutmon swept over the eight or so of these agents. These were basically cameras. Which meant that no matter what they did with them well… The D-reaper would know that they were there. They’d need to get to the center, which included getting past these cameras.
Thankfully the ground would be solid and all they had to do to combat the agent portion was destroy this kernal. Which she doubted would be as easy as the other made it sound. Silence’s ears flicked and turned her head as desmond spoke; he wanted to lure them all somewhere. So that they could destroy all of them in one fell swoop. Cut the cables. Destroy these ‘cameras’.
It would work. But how to distract them? How to bring all eight of them in one place without wasting time and effort? She’d rub at her chin again; keeping low to the ground. What could they do that could get their attention in such a way that wouldn’t expose the group and would be distracting enough?
”Change the field to our advantage. Use a weather card or something that is explosive away from us and doesn’t give away our position. They go to check, two of us cut the cables. Two of us destroy the cameras. One fell swoop. No mistakes. No hesitation.”
As she spoke the shutmon slid out a sword, far unlike the stereo-typical shutmon blade from off her back. It was a single hilt and had a close guard, the runes on it seemed rather close to what a jesmon or her own personal form would have but… They weren’t as bright as dio or carlos would remember.
”Gio and Demi should be the ones to destroy them. Dio and myself should focus on cutting the cables. Be flexible if things don’t work out. Don’t panic.”
The shutmon’s tone was strangely cheerful, as it seemed like she relished the idea of fighting something new. Something dangerous. Heck even one of her arm blades were twitching in it’s holster. Her eyes were dilated. She was getting hyped.
Extremely hyped.
She was entirely ready to kick down this place and blast apart everything in front of her. But she knew that they needed caution… so caution first. Then Delve deep and then conquer your foe! This wasn’t something you could fight like others, this wasn’t something you should attack head on. This was something that you needed thoughtfulness.
Something deep stirred and the shutmon’s giddyness was even more apparent. Her free hand running along the dirt and a nasty grin splitting her face. Hell even her tail was having a problem not wagging at the moment!
”It’s a good plan Desmond.”

By the time the group reached the infected area close to the nest, Carlos' and Dio's stomachs churned with dreaded anticipation as they noticed the red floor and vines waiting for them on the other side of the ravine. For all their experience fighting individually infected mons, this felt like an enormous escalation, as if the very land was now an extention of the D-Reaper itself.
Regardless, they didn't focus on that for too long, their attention being quickly directed to the many agents hovering all over the red field. Wicked was quick to inform them that these were mostly living cameras, the proverbial (or perhaps literal) eyes and ears of the red plague.
No point in targetting them individually in that case, the D-Reaper would obviously figure something was up regardless if anything were to suddenly happen to those agents. Still they had to figure something out if they wanted to reach the center of the nest and take care of, in the witchmon's own words, "a floating white sphere", most likely the literal core of this one nest.
"Can't we just sneak past them?" The blackguilmon proposed while scratching his chin thoughtfully, to which Carlos quickly shook his head.
"Too risky, one wrong step and we'll be swarmed in no time." He turned to face Desmond, who was now sharing his own take on the situation. Luring them all to one spot and getting rid of them was...admitedly also risky, but they were probably better equipped to try and pull something like that off than to sneak around in a group of six. Seven if Wicked came with them. The man nodded. "That's probably our best call, I think. Or at least I can't really think of another plan, so..."
Silence was quick to add on to the plan as well, giving an idea of something that could be large enough to create that big of a distraction. Enviromental cards. Carlos reached for his pocket and took out a small cigarette case, inside it however were only D-Arc cards. He carefully took them out of the case and began looking through them, trying to find something that could be useful for them.
After a moment of searching, one card in particular stood out to him. One by the name of "Gigabyte Glitchmagma", capable of spontaneously create erupting mounds of red hot lava in an area. Loud, powerful and destructive. If that didn't get the D-Reaper's attention, even for a moment, nothing else would. He took that card out as he put the rest back into his case and his pocket.
"I think I have just the thing. It should last for a good while on its own but I have no idea how long it will keep the D-reaper distracted, so if it works we should make it snappy." He said, brandishing the card as he took out his d-arc. "So...if anyone has a better idea now's the time, otherwise...we'll get moving in ten seconds."
He'd wait for a moment for possible objections, as he silently counted down each remaining second before he made his move. Ten seconds later, if nobody had done anything to stop him, he'd quickly slide the card into the small device.
"Now."
A good couple of meters away from them, the ground would begin to heat up and loudly crack open, a glowing liquid visibly started to spew out from the new cracks on the ground. It wouldn't take long for that to spread and the ground to open up more and more. The group had made their move, now it was only a matter of time to see if the agents would fall for it.
Card used: DR-27 Card Name: Gigabyte Glitchmagma Type: Environment Rank: Gold Duration: 3 Posts Effect: Large mounds will protrude from the earth, they will erupt for three turns, showering down red hot magma. All fire based moves are strongly boosted in power.

If anything, this passive approach would give the group time to see how the D-Reaper responded to a threat, and not necessarily a threat that it could 'defeat'. Carlos' card would trigger, and affect the land beneath the plaque - and, at least for a moment, it looked like it might have been trapped underneath.
Fortunately, the D-Reaper didn't deal well with extreme heat. The plaque itself started to liquefy, the surface coming to a boil, quickly catching the attention of three of the searchers. The fliers quickly moved to the area, just as the lava bubbled through, an impressive stream of hot magma surging from the crack!
"✋︎■︎⧫︎❒︎◆︎♎︎♏︎❒︎⬧︎?"
An intelligible screech came from the Searchers, as if communicating to each-other. The three closest to the magma, one of which floated off to the side to dodge a particularly close burst, extended their wings outward. A red, pulsing glow radiated from each of them. Observing this, the Witchmon tapped her broom.
"Curious. They don't usually signal like this - hm?"
Well, that explained it. Just a moment later, behind one of the rolling hills, a burst of light radiated forth. Something had just Digivolved - and a massive, leafy hand stomped right into view.
This one wasn't an agent - but the red vines strewn through its body made it clear where its allegiance lied! The Petaldramon let out a growl, and with a stomp, let its vines surge right into the ground, underneath the plaque and towards the underground lava flow. "Grrr... someone's a comedian with this!" The beast growled, and snapped towards an agent. "Quit starin' at this thing like its something! Figure out what caused the thing!"
... Right, that made sense! The 'cameras', briefly drawn to the disturbance, would quickly scatter once more, more actively searching the surrounding area. Simple traps might fool normal agents, but they had more complex 'thinkers' helping them out!

Desmond nodded at the others when Carlos went and use one of his cards to change the ground a few meters away into lava. He lifted his left hand into the air but quickly stopped midway before lowering it. The Searchers might not have seen them but they got a new ally on their side and it looked big even from their distance. That was not good. At first, his original plan did seem to be a good one. Not anymore now that the Petaldramon came up from the ground and speaking to the drones. Desmond bit his lip trying to figure what to do with that newcomer. He stayed silent for a moment to observe the movements of the Searchers which seemed to go away from the Digimon. He took a second to make sure that they weren't circling where Carlos put his card effect before trying to come up with another tactic.
The blond tamer carefully reached to get his Digivice and try to scan the Petaldramon hoping that they were close enough for that. "Petaldramon, Ultimate, Nature Spirits." He said lowly as he passed his Digivice for the others to see it. He would wait for all of them to acknowledge the new information before taking his little device back. "Well, I think that trying to get them all in the same spot won't work..." Desmond slowly said while putting his Digivice away. "They seemed like they are going to search for..."
The blond tamer paused for a second as he realized that maybe that meant that they won't be looking at wherever that Petaldramon is right now. That could be their way in. "I might have a new plan..." It was easy to see that Desmond was trying very hard to come up with the right words in this situation. "I think that the Searchers are not looking at the Petaldramon..."
His attention darted toward the big Petaldramon and seeing how he was using vines trying to get the lava away. What started as a distraction could come useful. "We might be able to go through this one..." He was no genius but petals and fire don't mix well, for the petals. They could use that fire to make their attack stronger and maybe even hurt that thing hard enough to knock it off. "Look, those erm, drones are not looking at that Digimon." He then said pointing at the various Searchers. "That means that if we go that way, they might not notice us."
"Demi is immune to fire and could go into the lava and try to... Drag him into the lava." Using the card Carlos used could work better than just trying to spew fire at it. "He can go to Mega mode and catch that giant head and drag it into the lava in front of it." And Demi can breathe fire on it while trying to melt the thing down.
"If we can get through that Petaldramon quick enough, without him telling those D-reapers that we are here, that could be our best bet." Desmond nodded to himself and looked at the rest of the group. "I hate to say it but, we might need to split the group." He sighed after saying those words. "But we need to get inside that nest sooner than later." Pausing once more to make sure that everyone knows that he didn't like that idea of splitting the team, the blond tamer sighed one more time before speaking. "Carlos, you and your team go with Silence."
"Demi and I should be enough to take the attention of the big flowerhead so we are going in first. As soon as we get that thing attention, you all go toward that nest and don't stop." The little fireball had his eyes wide open and his mouth open as well. He is going to go against that big plant Digimon and that was scary for him. He never fought something that big before. Desmond did saw that in his partner's eyes and placed a hand on his head. "It's alright, Demi. I'll be with you" Demi nodded and smiled at his tamer who smiled back. "So everyone is good for that plan?" The Frenchman asked as his eyes went to look at every one of them one by one. "If yes, then Demi and I will go in and will try to meet you guys inside as soon as we can."

Silence flicked her ears and glanced at carlos. He had a plan or suggestion here? The shutmon would defer to his judgement and with that card being swiped she was allowed a brief moment to consider the repercussions of moving too quickly. Ranging from additional allies to just simply nothing. She was told she didn’t think enough, didn’t observe enough. That she was too brash and charging in was not the right choice.
Her icy eyes swept over the scene in front of her, the lava bursting from the ground. One of the fliers was almost clipped by the environment and out of the eight it seemed like only three were grabbed in terms of attention. Which was frustrating in a way but there wasn’t much they could do. The shutmon thoughtfully twisted her sword in her hands; there was something out of place here but she couldn’t put her finger on it.
”Tch… what are they doing…”
Her eyes swept over to where the light of digivolution came from and upon seeing the petaldramon the shutmon almost groaned. A plant type digimon under the guidance of whatever the D-reaper seemed like bad news. Especially considering it was directing the Searchers.
What could they do in regards to this? If fire was effective and this was just a giant damn plant… The shutmon turned her head to Desmond as he spoke, a petaldramon… that was ultimate and was part of the nature spirits. Everything lined up and she’d hum softly as he acknowledged that getting them all in the same place wouldn’t work now.
”It was a good plan.”
The shutmon looked to the petaldramon and mulled over what he was pointing out. How the Drones weren’t looking at the digimon. They could go through them and work with that. With that in mind… Demi was immune to fire and could go into the lava, dragging the petaldramon into it. It made sense, it was a clear cut idea but there was a caveat. They’d need to split the group. Silence bit her lip a bit and nodded slowly.
”That’s our plan then. After we get past him we’ll keep going till we get to the next group. If we end up getting accosted we’ll split again. Our goal isn’t to fight the symptoms but the source. So we need someone at it.”
Silence turned her head to look to carlos, dio and gio. Nodding her head as Desmond’s plan was about as good as they were going to get. Silence cracked her knuckles and readied her sword. Staring at the petaldramon with such a fierce gaze that it looked as though she might shoot lasers.
”Don’t hold back. Give it everything you got little light.”
The shutmon offered a fist to bump with Demi, giving the other digimon a small wink. She had faith in him; he was a bright one and if Desmond believed in him well there was no reason for her not to.
She was ready to go.
But she couldn’t shake this strange feeling nor could she get rid of the itching on her chest, something that felt like it was going to burst. Something that felt like it was aching right down at her core. There were brief flashes of pain and brief flashes of the dark sky before the world ran red.
Just what happened before?
She didn’t know. But she also knew it wouldn’t happen again.
