Terabyte Mountain at its most arduous time would deem the travel path upon it unfit for travelers that wanted to get to the top on foot and demand that some smaller Digimon use the ski lift, or close it in general for the sake of safety. The snowstorms were always vicious at this time of the year, which would mean that traffic or signs of life were extremely low or nonexistent. At least, that’s what most would assume. Boss had taken it upon himself at his time of life to give the Digital World a good romp around since he’d been caught up due to work. Quite frankly, being cooped up didn’t suit him after living a life of marginal success. And such, he’d decided that after setting back out into the world, some training was in order, by climbing Terabyte Mountain.
One handed.
Now, most would think that the dragon was crazy. And they would be right. He was indeed crazy, but it wasn’t an impossible feat for the old dragon. Cycles of training and experience had hardened his body and made a digital furnace of him that the blowing snowstorm didn’t register that much to him except for the wind and possibly slippery surfaces. The Tekkenryumon was built to the brim with muscle, dressed with a small cap that refused to leave his head in the blistering storms, a button up vest torn at the sleeves, leaving his massive forearms and plated gauntlets exposed to the elements and ripped up pants along with a pair of wooden clogs, he didn’t have nearly enough for the cold. And yet, here he was, slowly making his way up the mountain with just his legs and one arm behind his back.
Boss gripped the craggly surface of the mountain, using the grooves and branches that stuck out as platforms to lift himself up into the air to grab at the snowy mountaintop again and again until he would reach part of the designated path and simply continue climbing. His scarred muscles bulged and strained, keeping Boss warm with the power of training as he took deep breaths into the cold air.
“Alright, almost there…” Boss grumbled to himself, rotating the cuff of his arm and stretching his legs once he reached another flat surface of the mountain. He’d been at this since morning -he’d assumed by the position of the sun-, but when the storm rolled in, he’d lost track of the time. He was feeling pumped and still raring to go, but he didn’t feel like being out here forever. He’d just get used to it and that wouldn’t yield anything. So after a small breather, Boss was right back at his climbing session.
Once he was back at his slow climbing, the snowstorm began to pick up, as did the speed. Boss couldn’t help but grin at the prospect of the elements deeming him worthy of a little extra the higher he got. As he started to propel himself higher to grab at another point of the mountain, Boss’s plated fingers lost their grip. At this height, he could barely see the bottom since it was covered in white fog. If anything, all he could see was the rock in front of him. With no sense of anything to grip on, Boss was sure to fall.
“Like the hell you’re beating me!” Boss yelled loud enough for anyone at the next base of the mountain to hear him.
At that moment, Boss propelled his right arm, his climbing arm outward and punched the rock clean forward, leaving a fist sized crater for him to hang from. The old dragon still hadn’t used his other arm yet and saved his ass from falling splat, but he couldn’t calm down here. His stupid yelling would have probably caused an avalanche if he wasn’t careful. After what seemed like an eternity of nothing but howling winds and no other signs of a quake, he breathed a sigh of relief, put his clogs onto the mountain and propelled himself again to punch a higher part of the mountain to support himself on. He wasn’t risking falling off again, no sir.

When it came to Terabyte mountain there was a fair amount of speculation on what went on on the side of the mountain. Ranging from the mons that lived there to the mons that traveled through it. It was a dangerous location, one that could easily claim the life of the unaware. The shutmon had decided that her travels should take her through this location once more; she had been here in the past for a short spell but nothing concrete.
She wanted to understand this place lake her last iteration probably did; given that every time she thought about it or looked to it there was fond memories of this place. Fond memories of the snow under their feet, the blistering cold that was almost like a welcoming touch from a mother. The renamon that came before her was built for this; as was she but… The shutmon seemed to be a little more uncertain about this place.
However with her uncertainties came a certain slowness; that same slowness being from her thoughts and problems she herself had. So the steady climb that was in front of her looked more and more daunting. A climb that she wasn’t sure if she should make;but that decision was certainly out of her hands now that she heard someone yell.
Who was beating who now? The shutmon blinked a bit and took a moment to inspect the side of the mountain. She was able to judge that the voice had been rather close; something that she could work off of easily and if she wanted to she could get to with relative ease. She had the right equipment for it and the right abilities, a mix of flight and her hooks on the ends of her blades would make short work of getting her up.
The shutmon took a moment, braced herself against the side of the mountain and with relative ease started her own climb. Kicking off of places that would yield trouble to those that were just sheer awkward faces. She very quickly came to the source of what she presumed to be the owner of the voice.
But instead of a fight like she was inspecting well…
It was just someone climbing the sheer face of the mountain. She’d blink a few times and glance to her own equipment. He was punching the side of the mountain, leaving divets and cracks he could use to climb. It was pretty smart but also would be tiring, wouldn't it? She’d clear her throat and speak; her voice sounded amused but also impressed that the other would go about climbing like this. She knew there was a path somewhere too but… The audacity of this sort of travel really spoke to her!
”I’m pretty sure that the mountain can’t throw a punch. I came running thinking there was a fight and here’s someone climbing the sheer side of the mountain!”
The shutmon was hanging off a little bit under where Boss was. The heavily armored shutmon grinning and easily flipping up, out and a little to one side of the other without actually touching him or the ground proper. Little kicking motions were keeping her aloft and she’d quirk her head to one side.
”Fixing to get to the top?”

Boss continued his trek up the mountain, occasionally switching up between climbing with his hands and merely punching holes and using those as support to propel himself upwards. The snow blasting around seemed to burn up at mere inches from his face, signifying the levels of heat he was emitting just from his training -and what he would call his spirit-, which made it way less annoying to a degree. It took a few minutes before he noticed someone else climbing, or rather, skipping along the way down and stopped at a small place where they could support themselves fully. They looked incredibly skinny but decked out in sharp armor which told the dragon Digimon that what they were wearing was effective, but light.
He couldn’t get a good look at their face, but he did hear what they had to say and merely rolled his eyes from under his cap. “Yes, actually, I’m in the middle of training,” Boss declared, never losing a beat of his climbing motions. Jump, grab, jump, punch. Four incredibly simple actions that would drag on due to how damn large the old coot was compared to the other Digimon above him. “And unless you’re fixin’ for giving me a hand with some sparring when I get to the top or a pipin hot meal, I could do without the commentary.” The muscled dragon snorted a blast of hot air as he simply climbed his way now since he found more divots and rough surfaces to grab a hold of.
Thankfully, it didn’t take too long to see who he was talking to. A rather stunning looking white furred wolf with armor from top to bottom and two massive blades sticking from their forearms and what looked like two handles on their back. The Tekkenryumon simply nodded in greetings and resumed moved. “Though what, you live here or somethin’? Thought this part would be deserted. Unless you do have food at the top,” Boss chuckled to himself. In all honesty, the old dragon always kept some rations on him, but rations, as per the name were merely enough to keep him going at the bare minimum, not a full meal.
Another jump lead to another punch on the side of the mountain that made the wall rumble for a few moments before it ceased. No avalanche yet, but he was going to have to hold back on the punching at this rate. “How far am I any ways if you heard me? Your name, too.”

The shutmon tilted her head a bit, looking the dragon digimon over as he climbed. It was easy for her to just sort of hang off of the wall with one of her hooks. She’d rub at her neck as he spoke; so he was in the middle of training? What sort of crazy training regime called for one to climb the side of the mountain? In the middle of a blizzard no less? She didn’t really know the answer to that and there was a small smirk that spread across her face. She liked the idea here. Though she wasn’t strong enough in this form to punch bloody holes in the mountain, it didn’t take much for her to find cracks and divets that her sword ends could stick into.
”Never really seen a training regime like this.”
But would that give her much of a challenge? Not really no. But then again unless she did the same thing he did she wouldn’t get much in the way of results long game. But dexterity in this form was something that she felt could use some practice so… She’d rotate herself and shift so that the other could pass her on by.
”I mean I could go for a spar, been a while since I’ve fought someone new. Oh? A spar or a meal? Why not both? I’ve got somethin that could give a nice hot meal. If yah can get to the top.”
There was a little bit of a challenge in her voice and she’d chuckle. The dragon was certainly an entertaining sort and very powerful if her senses were right. Which removed any doubt from her mind that he couldn’t reach the top… But what was the point of teasing about something like this otherwise?
”Oh I live a few mountains over. In snowflake village. I erm. Do patrols sometimes; helps with the wanderlust.”
The shutmon grinned a bit and leaned forward so that she could follow along. How far was he away from the top? The shutmon mused over this question and flicked her ears. She’d give a small chuckle and shake her head.
”I can just call my ship out of my data, it’s got some stuff to cook with in it. Name’s silence and… Well we’ve got a bit of a way to go. I think we’re about halfway maybe? Maybe less? Hard to really tell with the storm.”
The shutmon squinted and looked down. She’d take the sword off of her back and stick it into the wall so that she could stand on the hilt. Peering down to sort of look at how far they were up… To no real avail. She’d turn her head to the Tekkenryumon and grin slightly.
”Not that it really matters. If I wanted to, I could get to the top easy but where’s the fun in that? What’s your name? Heck. What sort of mon are you even? Never seen a fella like you before.”

Boss took deep breaths, muscles in his arms burning the more he climbed upwards. He’d occasionally snort a small pillar of fire or spit it off to the side, causing it to simply freeze in the cold and make some steam. Quite frankly, his regime was crazy, but he needed some crazy. Being cooped up at work for most of his life, while it was for a good purpose, made him feel like he was going to deteriorate into nothing if he continued it. So, he felt like he deserved to go back to his roots. The times where every day was fighting to see another day. He couldn’t exactly go back to the Valley without triggering some trauma, so he had to do with the next best thing he wanted; to go see the world and every bit of it, which included doing the insane stuff no one would ever want to.
“Well, when you’ve been around for a while, gotta think of new crap to do to keep in shape,” Boss said. With one arm firmly planted into the rock face via a hole, he flexed his free arm and resumed his trek.
At the mention of both a fight and food, Boss couldn’t help but grin. They could have very well been lying, but the Tekkenryumon would be lying to himself if he didn’t at least entertain the idea of it. Either way, if they were lying, he’d just beat them into the ground and move on with his day mostly satisfied. So it was a win-win situation for him. “Well, if you’re challenging me to get to the top, I damn well accept.” He grinned.
Another few jumps and Boss finally found himself on a small cliff with the rest of the mountain still obscured from him. He didn’t feel like staying on it too long lest it collapse under his weight. So he took some seconds to relax through some mild flexing and stretching out his limbs, and settle some cricks in his neck, rotating his head around while the other Digimon would catch up with him. “Tekkenryumon. Name’s Boss. And being cooped up as a CEO will do that to ya. Well, retired, now.” He added.
A few seconds later and the Tekkenryumon was back at his climbing by grabbing at the rockface rather quickly this time without missing a bit. His clogs would clank against the rock again and again, the only sign that he was still alive if the Shutmon couldn’t see him through the blizzard. “And what about you, fuzzball? Name?” he said.

Silence shifted a bit against the side of the mountain, it wasn’t hard for her to keep up with the older mon. But then again he was doing things differently than she was so… She deigned to take it slow, curious about them and why they were climbing this mountain other than for a simple training regime. Not many thought to climb the nearly sky high, if not space reaching mountain. She had never been to the top herself; but memories told her she had been inside of the place once.
”I spose. Ever heard of a gym?”
The shutmon teased and followed after the Tekkenryumon; she didn’t use those places either. She preferred to keep her own regime which included fighting various people; doing long treks or even sparring with one of her kids. Heck even lux who was a rookie now was able to put her through her paces at the lower levels which she firmly appreciated.
”Challenging you to get to the top, challenging you when we get to the top and offering food. I say it’s a win win win no?”
The shutmon snickered and pulled her sword out of the mountain, not willing to leave the long time service blade from her side. Out of everything in her armory of weapons it felt the one that was closest to her core. So she was careful about it… and with it in general.
Silence pulled herself up and over the ledge with a strangely practiced ease, like her body knew what it was doing even if she did not. She didn’t look winded, if anything she looked a touch curious about the other. She’d rub her hands together and check the edges of her blades. She wasn’t sore yet, but she did follow suit in some stretching.
”yeah I spose. Can’t stay active if you’re behind a counter or desk.”
The shutmon tilted her head slightly as he mentioned him being retired. As he started climbing she’d go to ask about it. She was a curious sort, maybe not as curious as some of her relatives but she was darned near close!
”So you’re no longer a Ceo huh? What you fixing to do now that you’re done with that?”
Silence blinked as he asked once again what her name was. It wasn’t a surprise with the wind, the distance and the clanking of his clogs against the mountainside. He must of missed it somewhere. She didn’t mind repeating herself and kept a somewhat lazy but strong pace.
”Name’s Silence. Nothin as grandiose as a retired Ceo or anything like it. Just a mon doin her part to keep the world safe. Or at least tryin.”
The shutmon hummed to herself and would careful climb to catch up to the Tekkenryumon; flicking her ears a few times as she considered the other once again. He was something to behold that was for sure. A stunning specimen of a breed of mon she had never seen before. In this life or the other one.
”If you don’t mind me asking, what exactly are you? I’ve never seen a mon like yourself before.”

Boss snorted at the idea of going back to a gym. He had numerous access to those, but that didn’t really do it for him. He was aiming to be functionally big, not purely for show. The Tekkenryumon continued scaling higher and higher until he stopped to stretched one of his limbs with the other one on a ledge. Most of his training being life or death, he could say was something he picked up in his youth. Were you really putting your all into it if you weren’t at the razor’s edge of death? A gym really didn’t give him that. Plus, he always had to make sure he didn’t destroy any property.
“Well, when you can lift pretty much everything in a gym, including the machines without much effort, safe to say you’re beyond that,” Boss rolled his eyes. He remembered the day some mon pissed him off because they wanted to act like some hot shot with the dumbbells and not rack them after they were done. So he did what the most sensible Digimon would do; drop the weight rack on them, weights and all, which had to be close to two tons between both bulging arms.
And so he deigned to the extreme for the sake of giving himself a pump. It was insane, but it would have been a lie to say that he wasn’t used to it by now. As the conversation continued, the Shutmon couldn’t help but ask about what he planned on doing next. Aside from training, Boss did have one thing in mind. He wasn’t going to completely ignore his business for starters, but he’d be checking up on his family to see how the numskulls were doing every so often. He’d continue his trek, sans punching the mountain to prevent any sudden avalanches, and since he had company for once at this hellish height. The way they moved about suggested that they’d done this more than once, which made the Tekkenryumon’s metaphorical soul burn brightly. In the literal sense, any snow that would come across his vicinity would simply burn up as if he was a space heater.
“Well, travel for one thing, re fuel some connections I’d lost. I used to know every seedy little bastard halfway across the Digital world and most of it has gone up in smoke,” Boss remarked. “Dead or alive, I don’t care. I used to have someone do it for me, but it’s nice to take in the sights, knock some heads in and remind em I’m still around. Maybe go to the human world, get some booze again.” He mused. It HAD been a while and he was running out of the stuff, going for a visit wasn’t really a terrible idea.
“I’m also curious as to what the hell is going on in the Digital World in general. Get so sucked up in your own thing that any outside info goes through one ear and out the other, so you can help with that, Silence. I'd shake hands, but....” Boss commented, making another leap upwards, passing the Shutmon by a few feet and hanging off one arm before re-adjusting himself. Upon the question of what he exactly was, Boss merely shrugged. He’d never known that many Ryudamon in his life, and most of them were pure sticks in the mud. His master was the same way too, but far as he knew, he evolved any like other Ryudamon. He never questioned why his path was different, just that it was his own.
“Well, far as I know, call it a little punkish deviation from the samurai dragon life to something a little bit more…wild.” Boss shrugged. “Prolly the only Tekkenryumon that exists, and I’m pretty damn okay with that. Not like the world could handle two of me, hah.” He grinned.

Silence grinned a bit as the other continued along, she figured he wasn’t the sort to train in that type of location. Most of her training was against other people; very rarely had she been in a life or death situation and she hadn’t quite gotten used to them as of yet. Maybe some day she’d find the same sort of placement with the others but for now… She’d do what she could!
”I suppose. Just means you need better machines hah!”
The shutmon let out a laugh and shook her head; she didn’t bother with the gyms herself. She never would. She wasn’t the sort to work out like that; heck she didn’t do a lot of training other than fighting Iko at this point. She needed more people to do that with if she wanted to ‘advance’. Maybe something like this would work but…
The shutmon’s eyes practically sparkled at seeing the other’s heat melt the snow that they came in contact with. In comparison her body was cold, miraculously so. So any of this dizzying heights mixed with the fierce blizzard… or even the cold wouldn’t really affect her. She’d roll her shoulders a bit and flicked her ears. He planned on traveling, making connections again and well… Every seedy bastard? The shutmon snorted a bit and nodded her head. The digital world was in a rough place after all.
”The human world does have some good liqour I’ve been told. Not that I’ve tried any. And yeah, the digital world has been… busy.”
The shutmon paused as he continued; he was curious about what had been going on in the digital world in general. Aside from all that had happened before her birth… Well. The Demonlords, DATS and some other issues here or there. The shutmon shifted so that she wouldn’t get in the way of the leaping dragon. Snorting lightly as she was gifted with a flash of that heat.
”Well. I’ve been keeping my ear pretty close to the ground so to speak. The more recent problems are doozies I tell you. Demonlords on this side, DATS on the other. Tch. Dark area is still recovering from the D-reaper which is still a persistent problem.”
The shutmon grumbled a bit and pulled herself along, easily following in the path of the Tekkenryumon. She’d stare up at the other as he offered to shake hands but considering they were climbing she’d laugh it off.
”Well that can wait till the top. You’re getting so heated in this climb too I can feel it in my bones. Bet you’d make for a good heater in a pinch!”
She’d snort a bit and then perk up; he was a more punkish deviation of the samurai dragon? Wild and likely the only Tekkenryumon to exist. It was odd really; rare even. She’d share a grin and let out a smooth chuckle.
”I can imagine; the world is in a mess as is! We’ll just have to live with one of you for now!”
She’d give the other a wink as she worked to climb alongside him; she was amused with the fact and given the time. She figured they’d get to another resting point. Maybe they could take a break or maybe they could continue on… who knew? But the company was nice and if they continued to chat like this well the shutmon might wanna stick around for a bit!

“To. Die For.” Boss declared. “Honestly, still not a fan of humans that much since I think they’re pretty mad, but the drinks are great,” the tekkenryumon said, jumping through another few feet of rock, then allowing the Shutmon to keep up with him every so often. He rarely ever talked about his little excursions into the human world, mostly because human/Digimon relations were kind of on the stressful side the last time he checked, and most Digimon didn’t care for human delicacies. It beat having to cook for himself, so he took whatever he could get whenever he made the time to travel.
At the mention that things had been going on in the Digital World lately, Boss’ ears perked. Admittedly, being stuck in his own world and only having Sid for outside information was kind of crappy. Sometimes, things would go through one ear and out the other, and he was pretty sure that the Shoutmon had just stopped keeping tabs on things due to that. Or at the very least, reporting to him for things outside of work. He didn’t blame him in the slightest, but he was still going to knock his head in the next time he saw him, Boss surmised.
But Silence mentioned things that he’d recalled to a degree from Sid telling him; Demon Lords, whatever went on in the Dark Area involving some reaper type thing. It was a lot to keep track of, but, he had someone’s brain to pick in the moment and when he got time to visit the Shoutmon at any point. The DATS thing however was completely new to him.
“What’s that whole DATS crap actually? Don’t think I heard of em,” Boss hummed, stopping for a moment to scratch his chin. “And thanks, I call it my ‘man’s spirit’, always good to keep a good motivation in the cold,” he laughed and flexed a free arm before climbing up once more. It was then that he’d finally reached some solid ground. Boss lifted himself up and found himself not too far off from the top of the mountain. The peak was mostly in sight, he needed just a bit more to go. But it seemed that he found himself at a base near the top with the snow blasting, but not as much as the side of the cliff.
“Huh, actually not too far off now.” Boss grinned, glancing back towards the bottom, which was hidden due to the rolling snow and mist from such a high altitude. “Maybe we can get that food, eh?”

”That good huh? I’ll have to go to the human world sometime to sample some.”
The shutmon laughed a bit and flicked her ears, watching the other as they jumped up another few feet. Honestly he was quite strong being able to keep going on like this. Even she was starting to get a little winded and she was just pulling herself along. Maybe she’d need to train some more than she thought…
”I’ve only met a handful of them myself, most of them were pretty charming but the few that weren’t… eesh.”
The shutmon shook her head and continued after Boss; shifting and sliding herself upwards. The shutmon raised a brow at hearing the other mon ask about DATS. Really it was such a convoluted mess that she wasn’t sure where to start. She’d huff a bit and consider how best to explain.
”Basically their entire thing is keeping the digital world and human world seperate. They’re certainly a lot less forceful than the previous DATS iterations I’ve been told. They’ve got strange technology and agents in the human world that send back violent mons. So far they haven’t done too much past a few incursions and something to do with a golden week celebration a bit ago from what I heard. I’m still fiddling around trying to find out more about them myself.”
The shutmon admitted and shrugged her shoulders; she’d grin at hearing him call his heat his ‘man’s spirit’ she laughed a bit and shake her head. Yeah that was definitely something in itself.
”I wonder how hot your spirit can burn. From here it’s already warming even me up! Lord knows what it’d do to me close up!”
She’d laugh a bit and pull herself up and over the next base; there was more room here than that cliff sure but would that be enough for her ship to spawn in? She’d hold out her fingers and sort of measure with her eyes; sort of guessing at how much space it’d take up.
”Seems to be a good spot for some food yeah. I can call out my ship and we can get to cookin, warm up some and then maybe spar eh? Unless you feel like takin a bit of a breather before we go at it?”
The shutmon would slide a small remote out of her pocket. She mulled over something and turned about to over the ledge. She knew that the ramp was here… and if she was right… Well her ship would spawn in and take up most of the ‘base’ that they were in. A small portion of the ship pushing up against the wall. It’s sleek design didn’t seem like it had much to it from the outside but once the ramp lowered?
Well the inside was quite spacious, a living quarters, a bedroom, a kitchen, a lounge, the cockpit and a few storage spaces. More than enough for the two for a meal or a small stay at the top of the mountain. The shutmon snorted a bit as she got to work fiddling through the fridge, some meats and some noodles… Well she could make something that’d be both filling and good for the both of them. Predator type digimon did need a lot of meat didn’t they?
”Heh. I bet I don’t need to turn the ship’s heat on with you around. Pity I don’t have flames of my own, all ice and stuff like that.”
The shutmon gave a small wave of her hands and set about cooking; she seemed to enjoy the bit of company that was here with her and her tail showed it as it was wagging just a bit. It wouldn’t be too long before she’d have the meat sizzling and the noodles cooking on their own, spices of various kinds and a sauce of sorts in a pan as the shutmon hummed along to a tune all her own…
”Any preference on how the meats cooked or nah?”

Once they arrived at the top, Boss took the time to relax a bit while he waited for Silence to arrive at the base of the top. Though, relaxing for him meant some light working out. He’d broken out into a set of push ups, the snow around him melting within seconds of his arrival and casual reps, one handed if that. He still paid attention to their explanation since it was about the best he was going to get from someone relatively involved. To sum it up, it was a group of humans hellbent on keeping their worlds separate and rounding out the rowdy folk to keep them out. He could respect the goal, but nothing that noble came without some misunderstandings or problems.
“Uh-huh. Sounds like a festering place for trouble. Trying to claim for peace always makes for more problems,” he grunted in between push-ups. He’d stopped counting at around the eighties, so at this point it was more to see how long he could go until he lost the feeling in his arms. One would think that after a several hour-long climb that the old dragon would be tuckered out, but Boss wasn’t one to be conventional. If anything, he had way more energy to expend than he did when he was younger, mostly because he put all that force into work instead of himself.
“And I can keep going for hours, days, I’ve been told,” Boss grinned. “If’n you’re wanting to tussle to find out, that is.” He rumbled with a waggle of his scaled brow. He then lifted himself off the ground with a fanciful leap onto his feet, his clogs clanging on the ground.
“I’m still down for a small spar after the food at least. Just cause I look like I run on empty doesn’t mean I wanna.” The dragon said, patting his exposed, chiseled midriff due to the buttoned up shirt.
Once the ‘ship’ materialized, the Tekkenryumon was at a loss for words. The inside was damn large! The dragon had lived in better places, but for something on the go, he was impressed. He let out a low whistle, taking a seat while the Silence got to cooking. The dragon’s eyes wandered about before the object of his current desire graced his eyes and he couldn’t help but lick his chops before he coughed and cleaned his maw.
“Staving off the cold’s an art for me at this point. I’ve heard it makes me great for cuddling.” Boss let out a deep laugh, patting the table and inadvertently shaking it for a moment.
“And medium-rare, if ya don’t mind. Don’t gimme too much if you’re a good cook, I’m not about eating someone out of house and home. Though, if I can ask YOU a question, what brings your fuzzy butt up here? I know I’m insane and looking for a good pump and you claimed wanderlust, but I doubt anyone else goes the way I do unless they already know the scope.” Boss asked.
“Maybe I’m just senile and thinking too much into it, but you move like someone’s who’s been doing this for a while for some reason and trying to get back at it.”

Silence was pretty happy with this little excursion. She got to meet someone new, someone that was friendly and was tough. Sure she got the feeling he was much older than her but that experience and whatnot made her feel like she needed to talk and reach out rather than stay away from them. It was a nice sensation of sorts; the same sort she got around some of her older friends.
”Kinda sorta I guess, I’m probably due for a visit to see what’s what.”
The shutmon watched him curiously as he did some push-ups, she’d count along to herself. Somewhat impressed at the idea that he got so much done in such a short amount of time, there was a bit of that impressed fire in her eyes as he told her that he could keep going for hours… days even! The shutmon grinned along with him and returned the waggle with a small wink of her own.
”Sounds like a good time, I could use a tussle that goes for that long. Heck even longer if you’re up for it.”
The shutmon gave a small shrug, she’d love to have someone that could push her even further than she was already. Her ears flicking a bit at hearing that he’d be down for a small spar after the food. Then they could rest and chat some more no doubt!
”Well let’s get some logs on the fire then!”
The shutmon laughed a bit; she was grateful for her ship and all the supplies that came with it. She’d turn her head as he told her that it’d stave off the cold… and that it made him good for cuddling. She’d snort a bit and grin at him, waggling a finger.
”I might have to be careful, you might just warm me up a little too much hah! My body is almost freezing cold! Though it wouldn’t be all bad to warm up a bit...”
The shutmon returned her attention to the food, she’d take what he prefered his meat like and nod. She could give him a healthy serving but it wasn’t like he could eat her out of house and home. Heck this wasn’t even her home! Just a home away from home!
”Psh, if we’re gonna be here for a few days sparring and whatnot I’ll keep it relatively light. If it was just for one it’d be a bit heavier.”
Then came the question that she figured would come around; she’d hum a bit at trying to figure out the best way of answering it. How could she explain? There was a lot that she could say, a lot that would make sense. But she was being honest and he’d probably appreciate it in the long run.
”All right all right. Well what brings my fuzzy rear up here is simple. My last iteration was well traveled, well versed in the world. But there was a lot of places she didn’t get to go to; a lot of places she didn’t explore. This place is one of them. I’m also sort of trying to train myself. She used to lead a group of knights, now these knights are without a leader. So I’m basically trying to train myself up, look about the world and understand it before I go and try to lead it myself.”
The shutmon turned her head, pulling off some of the meat that was right at the point she liked it, she’d be able to cook his with relative ease. Mixing the sauce for the noodled and tending to the soon to be medium rare slabs.
”She was a knight for a few years; seven… Maybe more? But before that she was this millenia old Innkeeper; so I’m trying to find where I belong in all this. Do I want to be a knight? Yeah I do. But I’ve got a lot to live up to.”
The shutmon turned a little bit and shrugged, her tail was still wagging and she’d make note of the cloak she was wearing was awfully close to the flames of the stove. So she decided to take that off and slide off the gauntlets she had for the meantime. She could re-equip those easily.
”And when I heard you I figured to myself, anyone that would try to climb this mountain was worth trying to get to know. And I definitely wasn’t wrong. A ceo trying to get back into the way of things; a mon type I’ve never seen, she’s never seen. Someone interesting. Sure I came here for just a long walk before but… I think all told I made the right choice talking at you.”
The shutmon gave boss a smile and shifted so that she could start draining the noodles. It wouldn’t be too long before it was set in front of him, meat, sauce and all! She figured that he liked his stuff with a little more kick judging by how hot he was.
”So I suppose in short… I’m trying to find myself and not find her by mistake. Yanno?”

Boss’s tail casually thumped against the ground, watching Silence cook. Their little conversations were taking a rather…unexpected turn, but he wasn’t necessarily against it. But if anything, it rekindled him a bit more since he thought he’d been losing his looks and silver tongue as he calls it, to the years. Either way, he was enjoying the time here so much that he decided to pull something out that he usually keeps on him for special occasions, but after Silence said what their deal was, and if he liked the answer. The Tekkenryumon leaned back in his chair and crossed his arms.
So the entire deal was that she had the memories of her last life, pretty uncommon for most Digimon if they’ve lived for an extremely long time. He didn’t know much about it other than what his old master had told him back in his days of living in the Dragon’s Valley. He knew that Digimon would reincarnate unless something happened to their data in the process, which usually included corruption, absorption and the like. For Silence, it seemed that whomever or whatever they were before this, it was affecting them in the here and now.
Boss simply nodded and let her continue. Whoever they were before, they’d traveled around the Digital world a few times and then some, made their own group of knights -he really wanted to laugh at this bit, but chose to bite his tongue- and now, they were making it seem like that they had to follow up on that mantle. After all that, they made the choice of climbing the mountain after seeing him try and trek it. This bit made the old dragon smile gently before it was replaced with his usual neutral demeanor.
At the end of it all, Boss stayed silent and nodded for a few seconds before speaking. In the back of his mind, he could see his master and himself as a Ryudamon sitting in that damp old cave talking about what Boss was going to do when everything was said and done and he was deemed powerful enough to travel on his own and live his own life and not under the shadow of the Gaiomon that taught him everything he knew.
“Well, that’s a damn huge thing you’ve got on your plate. I think my first statement would be to be sure you really want this. I won’t make any assumptions on your past life or those knights, but don’t let anyone influence you on joining that group unless you’re sure of it.” Boss started. The idea of whisking your whole life away from a group based off mostly hearsay sounded asinine to him as did the idea of a group of knights, but he’d reserve his personal judgments.
“I’ve been around for like, what; a thousand years or so, I think two, but who’s counting. Anyways, I’ve seen my fair share of folks devote their lives to a cause and it ends up biting them in the ass, there’s regrets, bad choices, and most importantly, folks not sticking to their guns. If this group doesn’t seem like what you want, don’t chain yourself down. I can tell that you, the actual you, not your past, have a damn good head on your shoulders. So I agree in your whole journey here to discover yourself. If things overlap, don’t think about it too hard. In the words of my departed master; don’t be stupid.” The dragon finished. Once he did, he pulled out something hidden under the back of his coat.
And out came an extremely large bottle of wine. It was very much human made judging from the labeling and design, and it was still corked. “And like my master also said, can’t have food without a drink. But yeah, stick to your guns and you’ll be fine.”

The thumping on the ground from boss’ tail made the shutmon glance back, her own tail was wagging with the company and what not so she could understand if he was excited to have food after such a climb. That or perhaps he was happy with the company too? It was always nice meeting friendly folk and he certainly seemed like one!She was enjoying herself; enjoying the cooking and the bit of sharing that she was able to give to the other.
He seemed to consider what she said, she didn’t really know what he thought of her or of her prior incarnation. The memories that she shared or the people that she was going after. But seeing that smile let her know that he was taking everything as it came.
”Yeah… a lot of my friends, her friends said the same thing. That I should make sure I want it before going after it. I can’t think of myself doing anything else. It was what I was dreaming of when I was in the egg, it was always on my mind as a tyke and well… When I became a rookie for the first time I could feel that passion in my core. The want and will to defend the digital world. Like a proper knight; not vaunted and higher than thou like these Royal knights appear to be.”
The shutmon shook her head; she had heard of the royal knights; heard that they were never around. Defending them from gods knew what… but then she heard of the demonlords and their activity. Which made her wonder where they were even!
”But. Even though I wanted to do all these things that she did or join this group. I wanted to experience life too yanno?”
The shutmon took a seat, her own plate filling the spot in front of her. She’d tilt her head as boss went on. He had been around for a thousand or two years; meaning that he was about the same age as the last iteration of herself. He had seen groups devote their lives to causes; bad choices, regrets and… people not sticking to their guns. If this group didn’t seem like what she wanted she shouldn’t chain herself down.
Then went further to say that she had a good head on her shoulders and that if things overlapped she shouldn’t think too hard. And that she shouldn’t be stupid! The shutmon laughed a bit and spun a form around in her fingers, realizing that she needed to actually… give the other some utensils! So she’d do that quickly, setting down a fork, a knife and something to work with the sauce if he found how she spread it to be lacking.
”Well thank you boss. I’ve been trying to be more thoughtful after fighting one of the knights. He helped me discover a form of my own that I didn’t even know I had. Which is what got me thinking in the first place.”
Her eyes shifted from her plate, to the other mon to the bottle and she felt her eyebrows rise a bit as the other spoke again. She agreed with his master; how they couldn’t have food without a drink!
”Your master sounds like a wise mon. I don’t plan on altering my course. Just learn more about the path and myself. Heh. One way of warming up from the inside I suppose.”
The shutmon would laugh again and go to get some cups for the both of them, she figured that they would want different cups at least. She wasn’t sure if he cared about drinking straight from the bottle or not. If he did, she'd just follow suit. She didn’t much care!
”You said before that you were a retired Ceo lookin to gain your bearings again. It kinda sounds like we’ve both got the same sort of search going on. Or at least something very simular.”
Silence mulled over something for a moment and she’d drum her fingers on the table.
”There’s not many people I can ask advice from, train with or the like. If you’re really up for it, I’d like to see how long the two of us can fight for. If you’re really looking to travel like you are I could use a companion like yourself. If you’ll have me. Though, maybe we should fight first and then see if we like how each other feels yeah?”

Once all was said and done, Boss eagerly took the utensils and sauce and got to eating his share. Despite his outward appearance and burly hands, the man was quite dexterous with a knife and fork after training himself in the art of table manners. He felt a sort of kinship with Silence in the fact that she just wanted to live her life but going off into some random group felt like something that had to be taken seriously. You can’t go half assed and expect results, which was what he had been trying to feel out with their conversation. So far, he was correct in that they were indeed all for this. When she mentioned the Royal Knights, Boss rolled his eyes.
Now that was a name that didn’t seem to change within the times. Their group sounded like a faction of knights for the lower class, as it were. He could respect that, but in the same vein, he found it entirely silly. He’d seen groups like that come and go like the wind. Boss could never really see himself joining a group when he already had his family and work. And he was never a big stickler for rules he didn’t make himself, truly. But hey, who was he to judge someone else too harshly?
Though the detail about fighting one of the knights seemed to make the dragon stop his eating and listen just a bit more intently. Call it the fighter in him curious as to how it ended, though he could pretty much guess it was a loss. Tussling with a Royal Knight sounded incredibly crazy, but just his brand of crazy. From there, Boss reached over to grab a cup and uncork the bottle with his bare hands to put some wine in for the two of them then took a sip. It was incredibly sweet in taste, something he found that he infinitely preferred and made it easier for others when he shared.
“Yup, that I am. Before that, I was just some brat who had the bad luck of growing up in the Dragon’s Valley, met my master and then made some not so nice connections with some mafia group and a few others in Terminus back when it was just up and running, and some new family. They’re numskulls, but they’re my brothers, love em to death. Traveled around a lot, caused some mischief and got stronger for it when I messed with the wrong folks. Of course, we won, but that wasn’t without consequence. Fast forward and now I’m just some coot lookin for something to do that’s not work.” Boss explained with a shrug of his shoulders and some more food into his maw. Once he swallowed and took another gulp of his wine, Boss nodded.
“Sure, why the hell not. Not like I got much to do. And, it’ll let me get a sense of what type of crazy you must be to fight a Royal Knight. My perfect brand of crazy, don’t be mistaken.” He grinned. “Plus, this conversation has been nice, but much easier for me to talk with my fists.”
