Near the city's center, around the fountain, there are some canals that generally used by aquatic Digimon of Ys to traverse around the city. They apparently prefers it because it's much faster for them to move in such lane than on the land. However, today, a Vmon was using it for different purpose altogether: Swimming training.
Sure, there are swimming pool in the Cerulean Gym, but that one is tend to be less optimum for training, and more for just swimming lesson. If he want to train, then the canal is perfect. Not only that they have to read the currents and read who are up ahead to give way,, or how far you must dive to give way to those behind you. Still, not that many used this sort of training method, and when he was questioned about it by some passerby and answered honestly, they looked so confused. A Seadramon in particular looked as if he doesn't really understand what's the need of it, but told him good luck.
Said Vmon, a muscular specimen of the species, is currently warming up, stretching his body. "Cass, don't forgot to do warm up or you'll get cramp OK?" Valt told his Gomamon X girlfriend. He gently pats her back, feeling that soft comfort of blubber and warmth.
Part of him so tempted to just carry her home and cuddle again, but he promised he'll train her today, so... He shouldn't do that. A little dip of his toes to the water made him shudder.
"sssshucks." Valt muttered under his breath. But then again, this is training... training.
"Right, are you ready? Ophi, are you here to hangs out?"
"Eheheh; I know, Valt, promise I'll be good!" At being patted on the back, Cassie would giggle, giving her boyfriend a lopsided smile as she arched her back upwards, into his touch, and nuzzling her head against his side in an affectionate fashion. "Cramps wouldn't be fun, after all!"
After the nice night of movies and snuggling with Valt, some time ago, Cassie had been looking forward to this moment. The New Years festival that Hikaru was planning was approaching; and for those festivities, Cassie had agreed to help out by pulling rafts through the canals, for the festival-goers! A tough but meaningful task (at least to Cassie,) it'd put her characteristic strength to the test; given that she'd be pulling around multiple peoples' worth of weight on a raft!
And in preparation for this task, Cassie wanted to train alongside Valt; to make sure that she was in peak condition, and prepared for what was to come, once the festival arrive. Taking Valt's instructions to heart, the little Gomamon-X would be stretching almost like a cat would; arching her back downwards, and stretching out her flippers - kneading her claws into the ground beneath her all the whilst.
"How are we gonna start, do you think, Valt? Just normal swimming? Or am I gonna be pulling something along? Are you going to be pulling something along, or nah?" Cassie would be full of questions, it seemed; the seal digimon clearly raring to go, her tail swishing excitedly, as she idly fidgeted. Even if Valt secretly wanted to snuggle, snuggle times could always wait! She wanted to get big and strong, like Valt and Ophi were, so that she could pull the raft all by herself!
Even if it was Cassie and Valt training, though, they wouldn't be alone. Sitting cross-legged nearby, Ophelia would be idly stretching her arms above her head; opening her mouth wide in a hearty yawn. She, admittedly, was still waking up a little; having been mid cat-nap, when Cassie and Valt left for their training. Valt's voice would snap her out of her somewhat groggy daze, though, her eyes lighting up with a certain eagerness. "Hell yeah!" She'd remark, pumping her fist in the air with a confident grin. "I might not be aquatic like you guys are, but I wanna cheer Cass on, 'n hang out with you guys some!"
Seeing her sister trying so hard to get stronger, it really did light a fire in Ophelia's heart; feeling proud of her sister, for how eager she was to practice like this. Like hell she'd wander off, while Cassie was trying her damndest! Ophelia wanted to show her sister every bit of support she had for her!
"For this one, I actually already prepared some tools on the way... So see, for the first fifty meters, we'll be swimming without any weights on our body... afterward, we'll add weights that's readied on the sides of the canal. Later, on the 200 meters mark, you'll start pulling the boat and Ophi probably can ride on it, just to see how it felt for you.
For the sake of not affecting the traffic too much, I won't be pulling a second boat. If we're tired, we ca park the boat somewhere and just have a lunch or chitchat. I've readied bunch of towels and heater on the boat. Also some meals gonna be delivered soon after," Valt explained.
Hope that's a good explanation! Well, either way... "First when you're about to get in the water... make sure to get yourself used with water by first.. wetting your limbs with less cold water gradually." Valt did this. The wind blowing is rather chilly, but at least it's not too bad. "Then your body..." he did this too "and then your head...! NRRRH!!" Yeeks, that's cold! "Rrr-rr-r-r-r-repeat several times with gradually cooler w-w-w-w-water..." Valt told his girlfriend while his teeth clattered. Thankfully after a bit the teeth chattering has subsided and he now entered the water.
"Whew, much better... Anyway, Ophi, make sure to not stand on the canal border if you don't want to get splashed, OK? Oh, and I've readied a raincoat for you just in case."
Cassie would nod along, as Valt explained the training regiment that he had prepared for them, today. "So we're... Starting small, then working up?" The Gomamon-X asked, nodding once more in understanding. "Makes sense to me!" Cassie added, grinning widely. She wasn't entirely sure how far 50 or 200 meters would be, having never really learned to visualize such distances, but... She trusted in Valt's judgement, too! And she'd try her hardest, anyways!
At the thought of Ophelia riding on the raft, though... Cassie couldn't help a brief giggle, adding "I don't think we'd be able to convince Ophi onto the raft, though; for as ready as she is to support us," with a humorous smile. "Maybe I could carry you on the raft, though?" She'd suggest as an alternative; briefly wondering how heavy Valt must be. He was a bit bigger than them, and he was certainly quite muscular, too...
She wouldn't ponder on this for too long, though; instead following Valt to the water, as they began to slowly and gradually immerse themselves. Whereas Valt was shivering, with teeth chattering, as he entered the water, though... Cassie didn't actually find it to be all that cold!
Dipping her flipper straight in, she'd tilt her head a little, visibly curious. Certainly, it was cold; noone could deny that! But... With the layer of blubber that protected her body from the cold, she just wasn't chilled anywhere near as easily as Valt was! And so, shortly after she dipped her flipper in the water...
... Cassie would dive right in, with the rest of her body; causing a small splash! "Wheeeehehehe!" She'd briefly whoop, before her cheery exclamation devolved into happily giggling; her body easily taking to the water, like second nature.
"Eheh; is it just a dragon thing, to not deal well with the cold like that?" Ophelia would briefly question; heeding Valt's warning, and giving the canal's border a proper berth. Noting the indicated raincoat, she'd slip it on over her armor; her tail just barely peeking out from underneath it, twitching idly. "We ran into a Dracomon at one point - fella by the name of Susumu - and he didn't exactly enjoy the cold, either, when me and him sparred."
Him on the raft? "Well, I guess that's an alternative... yeah, I think when I get tired, I'll ride the raft. That's fine with you, yeah?" Valt asked. He's pretty sure he's rather heavy. Well, heavier than Cassie. That's the reason why he could stand up straight even if Cassie tried to flop on him.
"Well, I guess it's fair if Ophi doesn't want to. I felt it's a bit of a pity because I wish she could at least feel the water's greatness fro above the boat, but I guess..." ...there's this image of crying cat, one in panic inside Valt's head, when it comes to Ophi on a boat, so he quickly dismissed the thought.
...He really is envious of his girlfriend to be able to enter the water that easily though. When Valt is on the water, he suddenly noticed a miscalculation. His body is pretty much all muscles, so he need to keep kicking to stay afloat. This might gonna be tricky...
Ophi's question is interesting. "I think that's all dragon in nutshell, but Hikaru took cold better than me. I think the only dragon that's completely fine in cold would be Blucomon... if me and Cassie married and got a child later on I guess it'll be a Blucomon most likely," Valt answered. "Oh, that's interesting. I'm used to be a Dracomon too. I told you this, I think?"
And with that, Valt began swimming. He's a fast swimmer for sure. But to pace himself, he did not use his full strength, as expected.
"I don't mind carrying you around, Valt!" Cassie chirped happily, drifting closer to Valt, so as to nuzzle him. "It'll be lots of fun, yeah? And even if you're bigger than Ophi, that just means I'll get more practice, right?" Could it be a bit romantic, too, to be able to show off to Valt how strong she is? Certainly, Valt was probably the stronger out of the two of them - and he had more to show off, as a result - but she wanted to posture and display a bit, too!
"I think the only reason she went along with the submarine, during that one mission, is because she was for-sure protected from the water, on all sides." Cassie commented briefly, chuckling softly.
"I can hear you both, you know." Ophelia called from her spot on dry land - briefly sticking her tongue out at the two lovebirds, which prompted brief giggling from Cassie.
"Sorry, sorry," The little seal would laugh back; though it was all in good fun, really. Instead of dwelling on the conversation of Ophelia's aversion to water, though... She'd glance to Valt, noticing that he seemed to be having a little more trouble staying afloat compared to her. "Is everything alright, V?" She'd ask; tilting her head a bit.
Valt's response over a dragon's typical toleration of cold - or lack thereof - would make Ophelia think for a second; the Spadamon briefly tilting her head. "Yeah, I bet that thick layer of fur he has would keep him warm." She would remark; adding with a surprisingly logical hue "Second it gets wet, though, he'd probably be as cold as you are, right now; if not colder."
"Oh.. A Blucomon becomes a Paledramon, right?" Cassie thought out loud. She and Ophi had been learning to identify a wider variety of digimon the best they could, given that they were only familiar with digimon that they had run into up in the mountains, before. "Like the nice old Paledramon that me and Ophi ran into, once!"
The mention of Valt being a Dracomon once, though, would make Ophelia think for a second. "I think so, too?" She'd respond; appearing unsure of if she completely remembered Valt mentioning it or not. "I wonder... Was being a Dracomon different to how you're a V-mon now, at all, on a physical level? Were you ever able to fly with your wings?"
As Valt began swimming, Cassie would be right beside him; being able to keep pace. Though Valt was more fit and practiced, Cassie's body was built for swimming through the water; so they were roughly equal, it seemed! Ophelia, too, would follow after; though walked along the path beside the canal, instead of swimming like the two were.
Heh, Cassie is really cute huh. "What, is this some reverse pick up line?" Valt joked and bunted Cassie's cheek with his own teasingly. "But now that you said it like that, now I'm rather interested to try..."
Hmm, so she have to be protected from water from all side? "...What if the boat is in ball shape then?" Valt asked. "The type that will not sink... although probably eventually Hikaru going to commission some of those ships for the sake of those who can't get wet..."
Valt simply laughed at Ophi's counter that he could hear both of them. "Hey, I have a principle... if you wanna talk shit about someone, do it in front of their face!" Valt joked. "But either way, two of us just want you to share the fun you know?"
Hmm? Is that a nickname? "Don't worry about me. Those who are muscular tends to not float as well compared to those who have more fat than muscles in their body. My fat content is rather low after all," Valt explained.
Will Hikaru get as cold as he is? "Doubtful. That guy used ice attacks like mad. I actually wonder just how thick is his hide," Valt commented. "I think he's kind of thin under all that floof, but I can't be too sure... Yuuki tried to pat his body once, but his hand just pretty much sunk into those fur"
Valt noticed that they have swam for twenty meters. That's a good start. "Yeah, Bulcomon evolves into Paledramon then Crys Paledramon."
Interesting topic raised soon though. "How different it is huh... well it's definitely different. For example, I'm faster on land now. I can kick the ground better. I can fight better with my limbs, but in the past, I don't really use close range attacks, you see... unless absolutely necessary. I'm more to 'fire to your face' kind of guy... but about flying, I was master of flying. I flew better than Hikaru actually."
Cassie would giggle gleefully as they nuzzled their cheeks together; her tail wagging happily. "I dunno about pick up line, but I'd be picking you up if I'm carrying you on the raft, wouldn't I?" She'd question; it being a little hard to say whether she exactly got what he meant by pick up line, or not. Either way, she was looking forward to being able to carry Valt around!
Ophelia would be the one to respond to Valt this time around, though, as the V-Mon suggested a ball-shaped boat. "Would it really be a boat, then, if it's a ball...? That just sounds more like a weirdass submarine, to me." She'd question; tilting her head a little.
"That does sound like a good idea, though." Cassie added in comment, smiling brightly. A ball-shaped boat, admittedly, was a bit of a funny thought to her, too; but it sounded practical enough!
At Valt's joking about talking shit, though; Ophelia would be unable to help barking a brief laugh. "Eheh; does this mean I'm free to talk shit right back?" She'd jokingly question, grinning lopsidedly, before adding "I 'ppreciate it, in any case. But don't talk as if I'm not here, heh!" as she blew a raspberry in their direction - to which Cassie would blow a raspberry right back, prompting the two sisters to laugh.
Valt's response about the buoyancy of fat amd muscles, though, would make Cassie think. Huhm... Fat was what made up her blubber, right? She was pretty sure she did have a bit of muscle to her, but the blubber must've made her float more easily, despite it! She'd nod in acknowledgement of Valt's reassurance, with that conclusion; leaning in to nuzzle him briefly. "Alright! 'Slong as you don't sink, okay?"
Hikaru must have some pretty thick fur, for Yuuki's hand to sink in like that. "That really does make me wonder, just how big he actually is, underneath that layer of fur!" She'd briefly laugh; idly glancing down at herself, and wondering how big or small she'd look, without her fur. It certainly wasn't anything she wanted to test out anytime soon, but it certainly was a thought.
As Valt explained the differences between his V-Mon and Dracomon forms, Cassie would briefly giggle; thinking for a second. "The Dracomon we met - Susumu - sorta did a mix of both up-close, and ranged. He had this tail lash-y move, and a fireball, too!"
"The fireball was somehow damn solid, when we were sparring, though; still can't wrap my head on how the hell he did it!" Ophelia added with a laugh, briefly rubbing her torso. "He was a pretty friendly guy, though; was nice to hang out with him, in general. There was something kind of interesting about his scent, too; though it's something I dunno how I'd really put into words."
Valt chuckled at Cassie's obliviousness, but he guess it's not important. She's right. "Pick up line is basically you trying to be charming to your potential or current lover. But usually when it comes to straight couple like us, it's the boys that do it to the girls, just overall trying to woo them and make their heart beat faster basically, you know? And reverse pickup line literally just means that the girl did it instead, and make the boy's heart flutters."
Ophi does have a point... "But boats technically have different shapes too you know? There was actually a plan for a swan shaped boat that you don't paddle with your arms propel with your leg like a bicycle. Hikaru denied it after checking the size of the canals though. He said that it might caused a traffic because Digimons of Ys aren't quite small either."
Valt chuckled as Ophi questioned if she's free to talk shit back. "Well, as long as you don't mind me chaining shittalk after that, that should be fine."
Don't talk as if she's not there? "Eh, I just wondering if it'll make you more alert, shoo off the sleepiness a bit."
How big is Hikaru? "......Maybe you can try to check with him... but he's a king now, so you can't really touch him outta sudden... hmn."
Tail lashes? "I don't generally use my tail. A bit too risky in my opinion," Valt admitted. "If someone tries to cut my tail while I swing it, I think the result going to be quite fatal. Still, a solid flame...? That's news. My flame are corroding as Coredramon. As Dracomon it's generally just exploding and pushes people back. I think that's why I got my anti-defensive measures ability. Mainly because my attacks as Coredramon also destroys enemy's defenses."
So a reverse pickup line... Was her wooing Valt? Cassie couldn't help but flush a little at realizing that she had been unintentionally flirting Valt, but... "Well..." She'd fidget a bit, smiling shyly, cheeks flushing a bit harder... "... Did I make your heart flutter, then, Valt?" She'd ask softly, leaning into him with a shy but (attempting to be) cheeky smile. If she had been unintentionally flirting with him, well... She might as well make sure that she had done it right, then! Right?
"I guess you're not wrong, about boats having different shapes, but..." Ophelia scratched the back of her head a bit, appearing unconvinced. "... At some point, it can't be a boat anymore, right? Eventually you have to call it a submarine, or something else entirely, instead; yeah?" She'd question, raising an eyebrow a little. There's usually a line drawn somewhere, when it comes to classifying these things, right?
"I mean, even if he's a king, we should ask him before we touch him either way, shouldn't we?" Cassie questioned. Being a king didn't change that they should be polite, right...?
"Heh... Maybe if I'm lucky enough to get a fight outta him, I'd be able to even see how sturdy that hide of his, is!" Ophelia added in comment, grinning lopsidedly.
"Yeah, the fire was solid; it almost knocked Ophi right over, though she was kind of prepared cause she was expecting some form of, well... Impact." Cassie confirmed, regarding Susumu's solid fireball.
"I just had expected the sort of pushback an explosion makes, more than an actual cannonball, heh!" Ophelia laughed briefly, scratching the back of her head.
At the question of Susumu's scent being interesting though, and the question of him potentially being a lost child... "... Well..." Ophelia was unsure how to best phrase it, at first; scratching the back of her head as she thought. Eventually, though, she decided to just state it outright. "He kinda smelled like you do, Valt."
That was too dorky for Valt's heart to be absolutely gobsmacked and beats faster, but it was the second best as the dragon's face and ears started to go red.
"Y-you sure did," Valt answered, trying to hide his embarrassment by half submerging his head under the water. Now that he's used to the cold, the water underneath the surface felt warmer than the surface, but that's probably because of the temperature adjuster that prevented the water from being too cold... it doesn't work as well on the surface though.
"Hmmm, good point," Valt admitted to Ophi's comment. "Generally, when it's flat, it's called a raft. A boat is if it's in curve shape, whether it's with or without roof... then if it's full on enveloping you and it goes underwater it's called submarine... However, I guess to make it easier to categorize, people just slap "boat" to everything. By the way, if it goes under the water, protects you from water, but cannot really move, it's called a diving bell."
True, politeness is virtue. "I mean yeah, but before you can just touch him if you're friends with him, and he'll sometime offers it. But because he's a king now, that's not as easy. He can't say 'hey, fluff me' or something like that."
How sturdy his hide? "...Probably not the slightest. But the most annoying thing about him is that he's bad if you're planning to take it easy. He heals a lot and his defenses are solid. The last thing you should do is to make it a drawn out battle. He'll win," Valt commented. "He admitted that if he's fighting me as Alphamon, there is a huge chance he'll lose.... but if he's fighting me as Plutomon, my luck probably kinda going to run out."
Huh... A cannonball like flame rather than explosive... "...That's mental somehow," Valt commented. "Never heard that kind of flame before."
...But Valt did not expect what would come outta Ophi next. "Oh, he smelled like me...."
Valt slowly turned his head at his disciple, and unfortunately hits the border of the canal while he wasn't looking. Yet, despite this mishap, the blue dragon's eyes did not leave Ophi, and he's still swimming forward, his cheek smushed against the wall... shocked much?
"...Girl, wut? I don't remember... i don't remember Penny telling me we got a child or something... because I think if we does, she would immediately tell me and all that... Eh? ...Eh? EH!?"
Then immediately he turned his head to Cassie. "Cass! Trust me, I'm not a deadbeat dad that would abandon his own kid!"
As Valt submerged his head into the water, Cassie couldn't help a soft, cheery giggle; briefly pausing in her swimming, so that she could rub her flushed cheeks with her flippers. There was something rather endearing, about being able to elicit this reaction from Valt, though she couldn't help but get flushed, herself..!
Ophelia would giggle at seeing both of them go red, grinning widely, though. "You guys are - how do humans put it? Adorkable?" She'd pause to think briefly, before waving her hand in a lackadaisical fashion; remarking "Yeah, you guys are utterly adorkable." with a chuckle.
"And he's my adorkable V-mon!" Cassie would call back; smiling brightly as she'd wrap her flippers around Valt, for a brief moment.
As Valt explained the differences between the different types of transport you could usually find in the water, Ophelia would tilt her head a little. "Makes sense to me," The Spadamon would begin; folding her arms behind her head as she thought for a second. "Though... What's the point in a diving bell, if it goes underwater, but can't move? Wouldn't you be stuck, if it can't even go back up?" Perhaps there was a misunderstanding, there...
Being king... Meant he couldn't even seek any physical affection? Cassie frowned softly; clearly bothered. "The idea of being unable to seek a bit of comfort to settle back down after a bad day..." She'd begin in a murmur, sounding offput. "It... sounds an awful lot like being a king is a big, yet stressful, job; if you can't even de-stress with someone close to you..!"
Ophelia, though, hummed thoughtfully at Valt's explanation, of Hikaru's typical fighting style. "I wonder, then, how me and him could square up..." She'd muse; tilting her head back a bit. "Given that I'm all about dishing out that damage, and standing my ground... How do you think I'd do, against him, Valt?"
Cassie would giggle briefly, smiling encouragingly in Ophelia's direction, mentioning "I'm sure you'd do great, Ophi!"
The Spadamon was quiet for a second; almost as though thinking over Cassie's response, but... "... Heh; hell yeah, Cass." She'd call back; half-smiling.
Valt's comment on a cannonball-like flame, though, would make Ophelia exclaim "I know, right??" in response, laughing a bit. "Even I was wondering how the hell he managed it!"
Cassie, as they swam, was smart about not running into the border of the canal; turning with the bend of the path. However... When she noticed that Valt was falling behind, and proceeding to swim into the wall... "V-Valt??" ... it was safe to say, that she was quite surprised!
And she'd only be more surprised, when Valt would turn to her - trying to insist that he wasn't any sort of deadbeat dad, and that he wouldn't abandon his own kid! Wideeyed and bewildered, the little Gomamon-X would lean back a bit, clearly unsure of what to say.
Ophelia, thankfully, would take up the reigns on this; calling back to Valt "Dude, calm down; we trust ya to not be that sorta guy."
The Spadamon's voice would be enough to snap Cassie out of her daze, the little seal blinking, before nodding. "Yeah! I trust you, Valt; though, uhm... Please don't go swimming into the walls, I don't want you hurting yourself!"
"....H-hey, you shouldn't tease your teacher too much," Valt protested... too weakly for his taste. Still, when Cassie claims him as her Vmon, part of him just felt so elated, and none of the teasing seem to be matter at the moment. He licked the Gomamon X's cheek affectionately.
...But it can't be helped. The canal in Ys isn't really the best for drinking. It's for transportation. There are certain level of salinity on the water. It's much milder than seawater obviously, but it's by no means freshwater. Freshwater is very precious for Ys, and the underground reservoir is the only place where it can be found. It's unknown if it's finite or not, but due to practically living in arid land, it's a precious resource. Other than for consumption, the water is almost never used thanks to that. There are tool, however, that changes snow outside to water, and then purified from salt content. This is what used for bathing water. It's less saline than this, but it's still not recommended for drinking.
There's indeed some misunderstanding it seems. "Oh, no, diving bell is only for looking at what's at a depth, you see... wait a sec." Valt took out a bowl from his infini-store, then take out a small glass that's definitely shorter than the bowl. He filled the bowl with water and then upside down pushes the glass in.
"If you do this, you'll see that there are air trapped inside the small glass. That's the idea behind a diving bell. You'll stay dry, and it's mostly used for observation. Now, the bell is actually connected with chains that can be pulled anytime, usually by ship. And when it got pulled you can return to surface, just like that!"
Well, that has been Science 101 with Valt, he guess!
Hmmm, another misunderstanding. "Oh no, not like that. I mean he's free to do whatever he want in private, but if he ask his friends to fluff him while he's out in public, it'll be a bit complicated. The only ones that allowed to touch his fur in public is his family, his partner, and his husband obviously... But even then it's a bit eyebrow raising if they fluff him in public. I think we're still allowed to touch him in private, like in the base's bathhouse or something."
Hmmm, how would Ophi fare? "...Pretty well I think? I think you can win, if you don't let him keep defending and bide his time. But if you're facing him as Plutomon, I think that's going to be hell all the way. You'll probably struggle because his nasty tactics kind of just pierces all sort of defenses. Good thing is that it's not always active."
Hmmm, this young dragon's creativity seem to be the key. "...I think it's matter of common sense. If you believe, your attack can do things that's a bit illogical. For example, I can do this.." Valt formed an aura sphere on his palm. "See? By Vmon's common sense, this is 'unthinkable'. But for me, this is 'common sense' I guess it means that he's very creative."
Thankfully, it looks like that the sisters believed in him. That's a relief..."Y-yeah, sorry... I'm just... really shocked I guess... Still, a guy that smelled like me? I mean, I'm still here... So did he started mentioning about Aniki or anyone else?"
As Cassie's cheek was licked, the little seal would be unable to help but giggle; her tail wagging happily. She went to lick Valt's cheek right back, but would pause mid-motion at the other's comment about something being 'salty'... She'd tilt her head a bit inquisitively, and would finish the intended action of licking Valt's cheek, noting that the water that coated his cheek was, indeed, a bit salty. "Huhm... You're right," She'd murmur thoughtfully; idly licking one of her claws now.
"Is the water in the canal salty, because we're in the Shining Sea, V?" She'd question after thinking for a few more seconds - knowing that the desert beyond the city grounds was, indeed, kind of salty; much like the ocean that probably was once here, a long time ago!
Curious, Ophelia would carefully approach the canal's edge - making sure to not get splashed by accident - to dip one of her fingers into the canal, and lick the water off of her finger; confirming to her as well, that it was salty. "Huh..." She'd mumble curiously to herself, returning to the safety of the dry walkway.
With the misunderstanding over the diving bell, though... Valt was quick to clarify and explain what the concept of a diving bell was, in reality. The two sisters would watch closely as Valt took out the bowl and glass - demonstrating how, exactly, a diving bell was supposed to work; the trapped air keeping the inner portions of it dry. Though, even with the explanation...
... Ophelia couldn't help but wonder, why exactly Valt carried dishes around in his infinistore. Was it for when he and Ryouta are out and about, in the wilderness? Having a cup didn't seem to make much sense, as opposed to perhaps a flask of some sort, but... She wouldn't question it too much.
Instead, as Valt explained that Hikaru couldn't be fluffed out in public, the two sisters would briefly nod in mutual understanding. "So... As long as it's in the base, it's fine, right?" Cassie questioned; continuing "Since it's usually just family 'n friends like us, in the Sanctum! That's pretty private, right?"
"Being a king doesn't seem entirely worth the trouble of not being able to be open to friends or family in public n shit, though." Ophelia remarked; scratching the back of her head a little, under the hood of the raincoat. "On top of having to worry about literally everything else in the city, and even outside of it, that is."
At the mention of Valt believing that she could win against Hikaru's Alphamon form, though... She'd grin a little; unable to help a slight flutter of pride and excitement in her chest, at the notion. Plutomon, though, sounded like it'd be a challenge... "... Well, that just means I'd need to not rely on my defenses quite so much then, right?" She'd question in turn; adding, with an excited flick of her tail, "I could give him an all-out attack he won't forget, then!"
Valt's explanation as to why the attack worked the way it did, though, was a bit curious. "Huhm... So... If you believe in an attack hard enough, it'll work as you want it to work?" Ophelia asked, tilting her head a little.
"I guess that makes sense!" Cassie added in comment, thinking for a second. "Because I believe in how my bubbles work, that's how they fill up with the beneficial water I use to heal and buff everyone, right?"
Valt's apology, though, would receive a gentle pat on the back from Cassie in response. "It's okay, V!" She'd chirp to him, adding "He didn't really mention anyone we knew; he sorta grew up in the wild, like we did. Except he was all on his own."
Ophelia nodded in confirmation, adding "He didn't have any other scents that we'd recognize on him or anything, either. He was completely new to us, to be honest; the only reason why he made me think of you, Valt, was because he smelled a bit like you."
"That's what I think too," Valt answered to his girlfriend's question. "Perhaps the snow that fell to the ground somehow carries some sort of salt data? Thus the moment it entered the canal, it becomes rather salty? Well, that's what I thought anyway, or somehow the mineral from the canal walls eroded by the water and get absorbed in the flow. But either way, this is beneficial. A lot of Ys aquatic Digimon are more used to seawater compared to freshwater anyway,"
"Well in the sanctum... come to think of it, he's rarely in the sanctum lately. I guess that's because the palace is already made..." Valt looked toward a building at the distance, the eastern part of the city where there is a lake. On the middle of that, lies the palace, Hikaru's house so to say.
"...I guess it's true, you can't be so open with your friends again. The smaller your dominion, it's easier for your work, but the harder for you to get privacy. I guess it won't take long for him to snap eventually though... snap as in rules some thing that he can get privacy on. Then again, being KIZNA leader is no different from being a King either, all thing considered..." Valt commented.
"You guys might have no idea, but while the media inside Ys is tame in their reporting considering the city's strict no major conflict or separatism allowed which means there is no propaganda media, only truth and truth... outside media can be very critical of us. And who took the greatest brunt of that attack? Usually the leaders. Us, but... at the same time, the topmost usually got the most grief and such going for them."
Either way, it's a heavy thing. "Well, don't think so much about it though. Just remember... the city people appreciates your effort a lot. Treat them like our family and this city will flourish for sure. If they have any complaints, make sure to deal with it accordingly with proper communication."
The talk thankfully shifted into something good. "Well, he's after all, a king. A king does not fight alone. A king fight with support of his people. He have a form that's very strong on one versus one simply because he felt as a king he have to doles out punishment himself at times. 'Those who sentences must carry out the said sentences himself'... So said a man from wintery place in a book (lol)"
Move thingy... "Perhaps. But at times there are things that your body can't do. For example, impossible for me to shoot out featherstorms from my wings because my wings aren't plumy at all. There where the cards came."
Hmmm... smelled like him. "...Well next time, please bring him to Ys or something... if you find him that is. Ah here we are. We've reached the mark. Come, Cass, time to put on some weights," Valt told Cassie. The first one is quite easy, just a small floating weight. "I'll put the collar around your neck, alright?"
